I always go to taco joints and order one Carne Asada taco. If it rocks my world then I buy like 30 to go. I call it "The Carlos Taco Test" This place not only passed the test but has set a whole new bar for all others to pass. Homemade tortillas, beautifully carved meat with little fat! Living in L.A for over 34 years I can say without a doubt that this place is as good as it gets. It is better than most of the best L.A mexican food you can find. What a great find this was!

After months of living nearby, my wife and I tried this place out for the first time on a Friday night with high hopes. We arrived around 8:30pm and it was fairly crowded for such a late dinner time (must be a good place!). We were seated rather quickly and then were promptly ignored for the first 15 minutes. Three other tables of patrons arrived after us and had their drinks before we even ordered ours. Once we finally had a waitress and put in a drink order, I noted a nearby couple that was seated AFTER us. They were finished their chips, margaritas, and then a round of shots before we were finally given our margaritas and an order of chips. Now when we put in our drink order earlier, we also put in our food order at the same time since it took so long just for the drinks. After an hour of arriving, my wife and I put $20 on the table (pretty generous for 2 margaritas and chips) and left for Carmela's Cucina across the street. The pizza was finished in 2 minutes and was amazing. If you want Mexican, go to Plaza Tapatia because the service at Don Chuys was awful. I have been seated, ordered drinks and food, and finished my meal faster at Plaza than it takes Don Chuys to get me a margarita. I had really high hopes for this place and was severely let down. I wish I could comment on the quality of the food, but God knows I could still be sitting there waiting for it now.

We had the best dinner! I had the guac, (small & plenty for two) and carnita sandwich...very good & my fiance had trio of meat (chicken, beef & shrimp) cooked and served in a pinapple. It both looked and tasted great! (His new favorite!) Everything very fresh! We probably could have shared it, ( it was a lot of food! :-) All that was great, but our waitress ( Laura ? Lori? ) was THE BEST! Very attentive, and friendly! We will be back (on a Sunday!) Thanks! :-)

An awesome find in Cambridge MD! Off the beaten path, the locals come here. Out of this world steak tacos, you have to try them! Tamales, enchiladas, rice and beans, everything is tasty. When you come in, they give you fresh Tortilla Chips, salsa, guacamole, and a sweet dip, don't know what it is, but my grandchildren love it! Decor and "ambiance" (give me a break) are average, but service and friendliness is awesome. I wish I lived close, this would be my favorite place to eat! Try this place, you will love it.

One of those places that you might pass by based on looks alone. Very friendly staff, ample seating area and good variety on the menu. One of the best Guacamoles I've ever had, the small one is good enough for 2 as appetizer. Had the chicken fajitas, very nicely cooked and seasoned, served with lots of grilled onions and peppers. The biggest surprise was the draft beer, waitress asks if I want the large or small, when asked about price she says the large is $4.50. I've never seen such a large beer mug since went to Octoberfest in Munich. The whole meal was less than $20.

This restaurant serves perfectly acceptable but unexciting Tex-Mex food. It certainly doesn't live up to the over-the-top reviews posted here. The restaurant is clean, bright, and cafeteria-like. The service is excellent. I ordered the enchiladas verde with chicken. The enchiladas were pretty good. The chicken was not overcooked, but I'd have preferred more spice. The green sauce was quite good, but again less zippy than I'd like. The refried beans were bland and the rice over-cooked and under-seasoned. Several people have commented on the three salsas served with chips. The salsa fresca is fine, but would have benefited from more chilies. The other two sauces, one that looks like salsa verde but is inexplicably cloyingly sweet and a yellow sauce that is somewhat more interesting and slightly spicy, were disappointing. I'd have much preferred a hot salsa as complement to the mild salsa fresca, without the yellow and green options. My guess is that the restaurant owners are catering to local tastes and might well be the best Tex-Mex option on the Eastern Shore. But it will disappoint those looking for real Mexican food.

For the area it's pretty decent. It has been getting better. I've had most items on the menu and thus far have not been disappointed. I love the burritos. If you are looking for a good lunch that fills you up at a reasonable price, this place will not leave you disappointed.

We came here about a year ago and it was really good. Tonight it was like a different place. The fajitas were just okay. When I ordered them I asked the waitress if they came with cheese, because I would have ordered a side of cheese if they didn't. She told me yes, but when they came....you guessed it! No cheese. The hubby got the carne asada, and it was inedible. One of few times we actually have not been able to eat something at a restaurant. It didn't taste like carne asada at all - it tasted EXACTLY like liver. Really salty liver. I ended up having to share my fajitas with the hubby because she never checked back to see how our meal was. When she finally came over when the fajitas were gone, she asked how the food was and we told her about the carne asada. Her response? "Well, do you want a box to take it with you?" No apology, no offer of something else, no price break, no nothing. Then she took forever to process our payment. Despite all this we still tipped her 18%. She never thanked us or said goodbye - but after we left we watched through the window as she raced to our table to see what her tip was. Ugh. They went downhill fast, and we'll never go back.

Stopped in for a quick bite after a long, cold morning duck hunting, and since it was mid-afternoon we had the place all to ourselves. We still got good, fast service in the casual, brightly-colored dining room, and the food was amazing. Not just because we were starving. The trio of salsas that comes out with the chips was a huge hit- we practically licked the bowls- and my chicken fajitas were awesome, not greasy, and just the right size. (I was worried the "lunch portion" wouldn't be big enough for my feeding frenzy, but it totally was.) My husband's enchiladas got rave reviews too. The menu is crazy extensive- wish we lived closer, and we'd work our way through it! Oh, they have a liquor license now, so we got to enjoy lunch with ice cold Coronas, and based on the sign boards they have happy hour and tons of mixed drink specials.

The most unprofessional waiter I've encountered. Brought my family there last night and the waiter was rude from the onset. Then, another family was served before ours. When we asked how much longer it would take for our food to come out, he was completely dismissive. We ended up just cancelling our order. We will not be shelving out our cash where it is not appreciated. If I could give this place a negative star, I would.

If you're looking for an authentic Mexican food joint that's inexpensive and delicious, you've found it! Great for kids and adults alike. Friendly staff. Good veggie options. Limited but bargain happy hour. Try it!

A pleasant surprise! I was visiting from out of town and had an excellent meal! Sauces are great (mild salsa, guacamole salsa & salsa verde)! Chicken tamales are rare where I'm from. It was great with the salsa verde on top!

A real GEM for authentic Mexican food!!! Having traveled through the islands of the Caribbean and Central And South America this place has the most authentic food you'll find anywhere. The BEST TACOS ($ 2.50 @) , chunks of beef or chicken with slices of onion and radish, lime and their delicious tomatillo salsa (may have to ask for it) are to die for. Everything is excellent. Prices are very reasonable! Lime Margaritas for $ 2.75 everyday happy hour, 4-7! Very easy to find in Cambridge off Rt. 50 two minutes. You'll find Spanish spoken here more than English. Who knew Cambridge would have so many good restaurants. Don't miss this place!

Delicious! I got the piña fajitas and the shrimp, steak, chicken, and veggies came in a hollowed out half pineapple. Great presentation!

Their menu has expanded since the one pictured on Yelp. They have lots of vegetarian options now and a much larger menu. The pork carnitas tacos were amazing with freshly chopped cilantro and yum! just amazing. The inside is OK - like a fast food place, and no outside tables. So if you're big on atmosphere or if you like a cold beer with your Mexican food, then do like I do and order take out. This is the best Mexican food around. The guacamole isn't my favorite - its very creamy and whipped - with the consistency of green mayonnaise. I prefer fresh avocados left chunky and spicy. But everything else is wonderful.

  • Debbie L.

The food was flavorful and authentic. Great enchiladas, rice, beans, etc. - much better than the other Mexican chain in town. The guacamole is fresh and the steak and chicken fajitas were wonderful, as well. The inside is more casual - used to be a pizza place - but... don't let that stop you. The sauces, etc. were fab! Please frequent this restaurant because we need it in Cambridge!

This recently opened taqueria has about a dozen different taco fillings (which can also be had in a burrito or torta). We've tried half a dozen so far and all are good - some are spectacular. We've tried fish, lengua, chorizo y papas, asada, and carnitas. The latter being a must try. Spicy, juicy roasted pork in a softened corn tortilla. We've also tried the "taco salad" and it was just like fajitas - but in a freshly deep-fried flour tortilla - not the regular round taco shell. No beer, unfortunately but very clean, service so attentive, many different sauces to accompany the various dishes. Very reasonable as well. A generous taco (all priced the same) is $2.50. We'll be going back soon to try the rest of the menu which includes dinner entrees as well.

Food was great. Restaurant was clean and staff was attentive. Got the tostada and taco combination. Husband got the mixed fajitas. Food was hot and delicious. Service was fast and friendly. Will definitely come back and recommend to others. We have found our new Mexican spot for sure.

Loved it. Wish I lived nearby so I could be a regular. Made me nostalgic for Mexico. Tacos were excellent. Just like really good Mexican street food. Not taco bell tex-mex crap. Menu great for everyone, including kids.

This place is just amazing !!! We just accidentally found this little, cute Mexican restaurant on the way home but it was truly, truly a great find. I had Chili Verde.... sooooooooo yummy, it was THE best ever. My husband had quesadilla with steak, what a flavorful dish !! Tortilla is also delicious. We were just amazed and finished everything. Absolutely authentic. Servers/waitress were so nice and attentive, which made our experience even better. We need to come back very soon.

I'm so glad this placed opened in Cambridge. It's nothing special on the inside, but the food is great (10 times better than Plaza Tapatia on Rt. 50). It's a pretty traditional taqueria with tacos, burritos and other Mexican dishes. I had the pork torta, which is basically a big, delicious pork sandwich. The dishes come with several sauces, including a good, spicy guacamole. I've also tried their tacos, and they're great. This is the best place for quick food in Cambridge.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
