I hate to give a great review to a chain place, BUT... The food is always cooked consistently. No other place in the area can say that. You always know what you are going to get. It is impossible to find great fine dining in southern Maryland. This includes the ONE schmancy place in Leonardtown. There is something to be said about consistently cooked, quality food...

Currently waiting for our entrees. It seems as if we've waited for at least a half an hour or more. The appetizers arrived expediently. Oh wait the entrees have arrived. At first glance I wasn't to pleased with my filet mignon. The manager came over and I informed her of my displeasure and she personally took care of me. When my new steak arrived it was absolutely perfect. Medium well, tender and juicy. Can you say HAPPY...lol. The lobster was my original concern but, they did not disappoint. I had it steamed and it was perfectly seasoned and delicious. I also ordered the key lime martini and it was pretty tasty. I was expecting it to be a little creamier but it tasted good over all. The broccoli was nice and tender as well. This was an experience at the Outback that I have to say that I am well pleased.

We came today for lunch. Got two drinks and some food. The food was all right but as I was drinking my drink I sucked up a hair through my straw. I knew it wasn't because the hair was blonde. Like the bartender's, Liz's hair. I was put off and didn't finish it but my boyfriend decided to drink the rest of it. And he found another hair. Secure the hair or wear a hairnet.

Very slow service... Even durning their slow lunch hours... Besides the service taking forever, had ordering issues during both visits (wasn't that complex of an order). Although my steak was delicious.

Dined there today. Terrible service. Food cold. 1 1/2 hour to bring out burgers. Sides showed up when we were leaving. No apologies. Nothing. Will not return.

Went on a Wednesday night when they had their specials. It was busy but we were seated promptly. Our waitress was great! Started with calamari for an appetizer, it was very good. I ordered the Alice spring chicken and it was awesome! The chicken breast was huge, moist and juicy and full of flavor. Hubby ordered the ribs and he said they were very good. The meat was falling off the bone. We will go back for sure! We all enjoyed our meal very much! They offer military discount now which is great also!

Again, I'm not normally one who reviews chains. Something has to be special about a chain in order for me to bother taking the time to do this. In the case of this outback it is their great staff. Every time I come here the wait staff and bartenders always remember me. Mercedes took care of my table during this last visit. She remembered me from more than a month ago. What a way to feel welcome. The restaurant itself is clean and seems in good repair. The food is cooked properly. It's all outback recipes, but as I have learned around here some restaurants are really bad about preparation. Presentation, flavor, and proper temperature are all well executed. I will be back often!

After a long Navy day at work, I was ready for one of my favorite meals when traveling...the Outback Victoria's 8 oz. filet. Like I've done at many other Outback franchises across the country, I used the convenient internet ordering with curbside takeaway. I've always had success with this method, until today. The curbside crew at the California, Md store was having an off day. I ordered my meal at 6:35, the website said it would be ready for curbside delivery at 7:13. 38 minutes was a bit long in my experience, but maybe the restaurant was getting crushed tonight, so I didn't mind waiting. I pulled into one of the designated parking spots just a couple minutes shy of the promised delivery time, then patiently watched as the service crew made drops to cars left and right of me. 7:13 came and went, and cars that pulled in after me were already on their way home with their food. The curbside server completely ignored me every time she made a delivery. Meanwhile, I could observe through the restaurant window a to-go bag sitting at the counter. I could see the server occasionally looking at the receipt on the bag, then walk away. Thinking there was a mix-up with my internet order, I went inside at 7:33, 20 minutes after promised (curbside) delivery. When I told the server my name and that my order was way overdue, she looked at me with a confused look. She checked the bag that was sitting there at least twice, but her conclusion was it couldn't be mine because the names didn't match. Turns out the website orders print your first name with last initial on your receipt, and I had given her my last name when I walked in. Took her a solid minute to figure it out, even though my car was the only one left in the take away lot and this was the only take away order on her counter. Since it was nearly an hour since I placed the order, and 20 minutes since it was to be delivered, I asked her if the food was likely cold. Her response was that all orders were late since they were so busy, so it should be hot and ready. After the short drive back to my hotel, I unpacked the meal and my suspicions were confirmed: ice cold (sigh). The bag had probably been ready at the promised time or earlier, but was never brought out to me at the curb. Just so you know - the filet, potato and sautéed mushrooms do NOT taste the same after a spin in the microwave. Protip for the curbside servers at the California, MD Outback Steakhouse: If you see the same car sitting in your spaces for more than 30 minutes, and you've walked by it over and over - you may want to check with them to see what's up. Maybe they're the owners of the meal you also keep ignoring on your counter?

A dump with crappy meat, crappy sides and poor service. The oil they use which is the sane fit cheese burger next door n same company, makes many people crap endlessly. Longhorn down the street is much better.

It may not seem very inspired to write a review on one location of a national steakhouse chain, however, I have done it once in the past in order to give credit where it was due. This time the worm has turned. My girlfriend and I entered Outback Steakhouse in California, MD at approximately 530 PM on a Monday. Although the restaurant was far from empty, the big dinner crush had yet to arrive. We were seated and attended to promptly. For an appetizer we shared the full portion of seared tuna with dipping sauces. Preparation of the tuna was absolutely fantastic, with a thin and even layer of sear around quality fish. The dipping sauces were also good, but the combination of the searing spices and sauces made for an overly salty dish in my opinion. We both ordered the new 20 ounce Tuscan Ribeye, cooked rare, with blue cheese pecan chopped salads and garlic mashed potatoes for sides. Mary Lu ordered a glass of the recommended wine paired with the course. The salads arrived and were very good. Different in both flavor and texture from a common garden salad and just more interesting. I felt that both of the salads lacked the proper quantity of chopped candied pecans necessary to provide their own taste and textural elements. The steaks arrived. And I mean just the steaks. Mary Lu immediately reminded the server about her glass of wine, and it appeared shortly thereafter, along with a promise that the garlic mashed potatoes would be delivered immediately. I was happy that we ordered the steaks fired rare, because they were both on the long side of medium-rare. The Tuscan marinade offered some nice rosemary highlights, and I smashed and spread the roasted garlic cloves over the steak. The flavors all worked well. The meat itself was of a lesser quality than the $20.99 price would dictate. The steak had no marbling whatsoever, no cap and no tail. In fact... This isn't ribeye! At least not the ribeye steaks I am used to. Given the texture, flavor and shape, I would swear we were served sirloins. After I had finished my last bite of steak and Mary Lu was deciding whether to power through or ask for a box... Oh, hey, look! Garlic mashed potatoes! Right on time, at the very end of the meal! Not to let them go to waste, we consumed a few forkfuls and subsequently decided to forgo dessert, partly because we were full and partly because we didn't need to deal with this anymore. In total, the food was OK. A great app, good salad, acceptable steak, and (almost) non-existent starch. All of that for 2 with one glass of wine came to $73, including tip*. Considering Outback is supposed to be a popularly priced restaurant, I don't think the quality of food or service were any value. *Yeah, I tipped him. But I also asked him, "What grade would you give the Outback team today?" He admitted that they had performed at a 'C' level. I had made my point without being too much of a dick and he got to pocket some cash.

So I felt safe picking an outback for dinner last night but the old southern MD customer service always seems to disappoint....:( My wife and I were seated quickly and the waitress came over to get us drinks-standard stuff here. We knew what we want quickly so caught her bringing back the drinks and ordered our food. Wife order chicken, no bacon please and I ordered grilled chicken. Easy We wait about 20 minutes-no biggie-and the food is delivered. Ok: food not hot, bacon on my wife's dish and nobody around.... After about 10 minutes the gentlemen that delivered the food comes by with more food and we tell him it's not our but ask him for ketchup- don't see him again. Another 15 minutes pass before our waitress finally gets to our table and we ask her for ketchup. Finally we get some ketchup but the food is freezing and my wife is giving me the face of just pay and let's go.... So yeah, standard southern MD service and the food was nothing to write home about. All in all 45 bucks....rather spend it on food/wine at home. Good luck

Don't rely on their wait times. They seem to underestimate to attract more people but hold you here much longer. Ex: this wait over an hour after told 30 min.

This place is much better than it used to be. I don't know if it got new management, or what, but they definitely changed the place and it is SO much better. The last time I went, I got their chicken tenders, and O.M.G. They may have only been chicken tenders, but they're the best chicken tenders I'd ever had in my life, hands down. I haven't sampled much more from the new menu, so I can't give it 5 stars, but this place is definitely better than it was.

It's an Outback, so all of my expectations were met. Good - not great - steak. Good -not great -service. I was not blown away but neither was I dissappointed.

For a chain it's not bad, I've had a better steak at the house when I'm not lazy not to cook it. Way to suck me in C. Dundee!! ;)

Super fast seating at 5:30pm Saturday and the drinks and food arrived fast. I think our server name is Malory and she was outstanding. A must to visit again.
