Wonderful food and great wine. We had steak and crab cakes and we were both truly satisfied! The owner was also very friendly and personable. If I'm ever in Baltimore again I'll be back.

Not quite sure what to say about this place. I personally did not have a great time and the food/service took forever. I could understand sitting at the bar and not getting any service for not trying to grab attention, but if you are sitting at a table I expect full attention and prompt service unless I have already ordered and am waiting to get my food. I had ordered their version of a cheese steak and it was rather tasty except for the fact that it was overcooked. The soup that my wife had was terrible and tasted like reheated leftovers and the vegetables were not fresh at all. The service as stated was even slower in the kitchen as there was almost no one in the place but my table of 2 and 3 people at the bar who were mainly focused on drinking. So what happened? Why was the food taking so long? I don't know. This was a one time trip, but at least I came to try out the hype. Might come back for just the wine, but I think there are other wine bars out there that are more deserving of my time. I hope everyone else had a better time than I did or that they perform better with a full house.

I have to agree with some of the other reviews... I really don't see what they hype is all about. I live in the neighborhood, and decided to go to Corner Bar twice before writing a review. My first visit was ok. The foods fine (corn chowder is excellent!) but I was really disappointed by the wine. My friend and I ordered a bottle of Pinot noir. A different bartender brought it out to us, poured it and we liked it. However, after a minute or two, my friend noticed that it wasn't the bottle we ordered. When we asked about it, we were told that they didn't have our bottle in stock, and that this bottle was comparable. The ordered bottle was French, and what was delivered was California. Just kind of irritated that they didn't say anything before serving us. My 2nd trip was recently with my husband and his parents who are big wine fans and actually know their stuff. 2 of the bottles we ordered were out of stock. This time we found out first. It seems like updating their wine list is not a priority. Again, the food was ok. Nothing 5 star worthy. I'll also comment that the atmosphere, although cozy and quaint, doesn't really benefit from the TV blaring in the corner. They really could use some nice dinner music.

In Baltimore for just one night - and staying blocks away. Figured this was a good attempt, especially with 50% off all bottles on Saturday nights. Clean and delicious food... nice taste, and no crazy attempts at "foodie" type food. It is small. I would definitely try for a reservation. However, there are bar seats that seemed to be available to folks who just wandered in. The neighborhood and outside decorations (wine bottles) definitely drew us in... almost like a little European section of Baltimore.

Well another Yelp win for me. I'm staying in Baltimore for the week near the harbor and wanted something local and authentic. This place proved to be just that. Derek immediately greeted me as I walked through the door and it was like I had been a customer for years shortly after. I appreciated the conversation, the wine recommendation, and the food was great too. You do pay a little more than a typical chain in the area, but you are in downtown Baltimore and the food is worth it in my opinion. I had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon to go with my surf and turf meal. The crab cake and New York strip was fantastic. Not going to lie, I've had better steaks elsewhere, but for $27.95 I also had a crab cake to enjoy. That was my highlight of this meal as it should be in Maryland. This also came with broccoli and mushroom risotto, both of which were very good. Before my week is up I plan to visit again for happy hour. 4 pm - 7 pm!

Found this restaurant while visiting Baltimore for LAXCON thru YELP, so I am going to return the favor to other conference visitors to Baltimore to say do not hesitate one minute to take the short walk from the Hilton and eat at this restaurant. We ate here 2 out of 3 nights and feel like we are now 'family.' Absolutely will return home every year from now on! Now to the food; crab dip was creamy and delicious. Crab cake dinner; fantastic. Both night's pasta specials delicious. Food, check. Wine, check. Atmosphere, check. Service, check. What more do you need after 8 hrs of conference!! This place is a gem.

Stopped in after an O's game with a friend for dinner. Bartender (Chuck I believe) was friendly, engaging and helpful with selecting drinks and food. Space has a cool feel due to wood work around bar, stained glass and generally warm, classic and humble attributes. Food and wine are solid! We had crab cake sliders and crab cake dinner. Both were very good with lots of crab (not from the Bay though) and traditional seasoning. Sliders would be better if buns were warm/toasted. Definitely will go back next time in Baltimore. TV at bar for watching games is well placed. Would get 5 stars is there were a few high quality local beers on tap (there are no taps).

I am a huge fan of a good wine bar, but was a little bit disappointed at the service of this one. Our waiter was brusque and a little bit pushy, on a night when they were busy but not packed. That said, I was a big fan of the $5 wine specials (which was actually not awful wine), and the bread that came with our crab dip was ADDICTING. I plan to go back again, this time to get more food!

Great food and atmosphere! Cozy! When my team and I walked in, the owner was a bit pre-occupied with a to go order...at this time we were the only guest in the rest. While I totally understood this... The customers in front of you are always important. *This is the reason why I didn't give five stars. The crab dip- amazing! The open face steak sandwich- yum! My team had the crab cakes and said they were awesome too! The wine selections were great! If I lived closer I'd be there more often! Give this place a try...

I have walked by this place every time I go to the ball game. Tonight I decided not to go to the game and I decided to give this place a try. Food service is a little slow. Ordered wings and sliders. Took at least 20 mins before food came out. The bistro is very small. Sitting arrangements could probably better. I did feel like everyone was practically on top of each other. Wings were delicious. Sliders were good too. Food is made from scratch. Fries are even hand cut. Wine list was good and our service was wonderful. I would recommend this place and I do plan on being back.

Great neighborhood restaurant! When you go inside, the place is small, but I feel like I should say intimate. Its dimly lit, with dark wood, a large bar with beautifully displayed bottles, and a small flat screen TV that can probably be seen from anywhere in the restaurant but is not obnoxious, I promise, I got the feeling that it would be a classy place to get a glass of wine and watch a game while casually chatting with the bartender. The bartender by the way is wonderful and takes excellent care of you weather you are seated at a table or behind the bar. The land meat of the day was a bone in ribeye. I decided to take it up a notch and ordered the duetto which comes with a crab cake, side (I chose mashed potatoes) and veggie (I took the broccoli but I think you can sub something else... maybe mushrooms). Anyway, I love the concept of eating whatever seems good that day, I had secretly hoped for lamb, but steak is excellent too. The dinner was quite good, the steak came out medium, and the crab cake... well it was crabby (not too much bread filler). WINE: I always wait until I know what I'm eating before I order the wine. I figured the Argentinian Malbec (the only malbec by the glass on the menu) would pair well with the steak, I was right but also quite surprised. Malbecs can sometimes be very high in tannin (think about drinking a wine that makes you teeth feel covered in grit) this Malbec has moderate tannins and a wet finish (meaning that it didn't make my mouth go dry and gritty). I was surprised that it was actually pleasant on its own before the steak arrived, but still held up well for the meal. I also had the pleasure of trying a tawny port which was also enjoyed. DESSERT: I love dessert! They had many chocolate choices, but alas, I chose the lemon cake a la mode... a warm piece of lemon pound cake with ice cream. It wasn't too sweet and was a really nice ending to my meal. If I were moving here, I would eat here at least once a month. AT LEAST

Came here for dinner tonight with my husband after we picked up his bib for the Baltimore Half Marathon. Stumbled upon this place, like most, through Yelp. So my husband and I called and found out they had some open space for dinner. We showed up 15 minutes later and sat at the first 2 top table closest to the door. I ordered a glass of Syrah, my husband ordered a Sam Adams Octoberfest. We both started with soup, he ordered the corn chowder, I had the tomato basil special -- both were delicious. Next we moved onto the crab dip to share, which was AMAZING. But seriously if you are a party of two, order the 1 person portion, it is more than enough. We then split the sliders and truffle fries. I must say, we were totally impressed with the whole experience. The only critique I would give is that when I ordered my second glass of wine the server didn't bring it over for 15-20 minutes, after I had to ask for it a second time. Everything else was first class, and therefore serves 5 stars. Corner Bistro, we will be back.

i went to this place once after work so it was already pretty late in the evening (past 8pm). the atmosphere was nice and it there was maybe 4 other ppl dining there that night. however the service was slow and it took us a while to get our food. i tried the philly cheese steak and truffle fries, which both were amazing. however the slow service makes things a bit of a bummer. however, i'll likely go again.

Every neighborhood deserves a place like this. Time in, time out, I am glad I visited. Derrick, Chuck and crew provide impeccable service and recommendations. The menu rotates but always impresses. Of particular interest are the crab cakes, steaks and various pastas. When there is room for dessert, it's always exceptional. And they know their wine (and glassware, which I just learned about).

  • Kevin S.

First of all, this is supposed to be a wine bar and they have TVs, which blared with sound on while I was there. The service is friendly, maybe a little too much so, but the atmosphere for a wine bar was lacking. I only had an appetizer while I was there, which I have since forgot, thus I don't have a lot of food experience so I can't really speak for that. My rating is mostly based on the TVs with sound on, which is only acceptable at a sports bar and even then only during a major sporting event. There are many other wine bars without TVs in Baltimore (The Wine Market, 13.5%, Gitan), these are probably better suggestions for a couple glasses of wine.

Small little restaurant near the hospital with a great alternative to pub food. Decent wine and food selection in a cozy atmosphere. I ended up getting the Philly with garlic truffle fries. The food was great and the service was good as well. They happened to be out of the wine we ordered, so the server ended up recommending snd substituting a more expensive bottle of wine. This place is great for a date as well as a spot to go after work.

The cutest place! The food was amazing, the wait staff (especially Chuck) was phenomenal, and the prices are reasonable. I'll definite be returning. It's the perfect place to take someone on a cute date. Loved it!!

My boss and I came here looking for dinner. We had limited choices as every other place was closed. The food was good but not outstanding. My salmon was good and my boss looked like he liked his steak. They didn't have enough salmon for both of us but that was because we came there late. Our server was nice, but the food didn't wow me.

Yelp is so wrong on this one folks! Who is eating here? Tourists? Cuz it sure ain't locals.. we know better. I dont even know where to begin on this one. Not only am I severely disappointed that Yelp led me to this restaurant -- with its abnormally high "4.5 star rating" -- but I actually feel like I got ripped off, severely. If you care to read why I didn't like the corner bistro, please continue reading and I'll gladly elaborate my reasonings. Otherwise, I have one word for you: Bad. We were sat promptly when we arrived, which was great because we had a reservation tonight. However, it took 20 minutes for out waiter (also the owner) to ask us if we wanted anything to drink or start off with any appetizers. When we finally got his attention, we started with the cobb salad and pork wings. The pork wings were kind of like little pork shanks lathered in a thick, chipotle sauce. The pork was cooked properly but the meat was not seasoned and the sauce tasted like it was out of a bottle. Way too sweet and not spicy at all. The cobb salad was the only decent item of the evening -- chopped, light, fresh, flavorful.Lots of bacon. Not too much dressing and an adequate portion (albeit overpriced). I was hoping the cobb salad would set a precedent for the evening but alas I was wrong. After waiting for an exhausting 70 minutes for our food everything finally arrives and sadly none of it was worth the wait. The Mahi special looked like it was frozen out of a bag. Thin slices of white fish in a butter sauce. Supposedly it was stuffed with shrimp but I didn't see any shrimp or taste them. In fact, this tasted nothing like Mahi. More like flounder or tilapia. The crab cakes were flat, small and did not have lump meat. They were not worthy of Baltimore and I've literally had thousands of crap cakes over the last 30 years here so I think I know a good crabcake when I taste it. The bone-in-ribeye looked decent but I didn't try it so I can't comment on that item. The side dishes were mediocre at best. We all ordered the garlic truffle fries and they were very fair. You could tell the oil in the fryer was very old because of the thick aftertaste of the fries. Its what happens when oil gets old and a fryer is not cleaned properly. The end result is bitter. I know this because I used to work in a restaurant where I cleaned fryers. The asparagus was fresh but they only gave you five per plate which was simply pathetic. Speaking of which this restaurant has some nerve to charge "market prices" for all of its entrees. Who does that? I know, a con artist who thinks the public is stupid enough to pay anything the owner asks for. How insulting. In short, the portions were small relative to price. They were a rip-off. Nothing was hot and the owner never apologized that the food took an eternity to come out. If he did and perhaps compensated us for an item or two I probably wouldn't be so pissed. I think the bill ended up being like $40 bucks a person (with a bottle of wine). And for what? I'm writing this review 2 hours later and I'm still hungry! I will say that the server/owner of this establishment was a nice guy. For this reason it pains me to say such negative things about his restaurant but that's the whole point of this website... to provide honest feedback so that maybe the owner can read this stuff and improve his operation. I hope he does. The man couldn't even get through the specials without fumbling or staring at the door a few dozen times. He was very clearly "in the weeds" as we say and was struggling with trying to micromanage the whole restaurant. He needed a professional waiter. At first, he forgot to mention that fries were even an optional side dish. He also ran out of the "pasta dish" for the evening. Who runs out of pasta? Especially when its the only pasta item on the menu? That's a big no-no in this business. My last issue with Corner Wine Bistro is that the bathrooms and kitchen are dirty -- straight up. I had a good long stare in the kitchen and also saw that the bathrooms had grime on the floor from not being cleaned. The owner should really be ashamed of this. When you have a window in which the guests can stare into the kitchen you better damn well make sure the kitchen is clean. Clearly, this was not the case. I wanted to walk out but we were meeting with people so I decided to stay. That was a terrible idea. I honestly cannot tell you anything good about Corner Bistro (besides the cobb salad). Why its busy is beyond my comprehension. I can only speculate that they feed off of nearby hotels and positive online reviews. I remember when this was a Jamaican/caribbean restaurant back in the day. That place went under and Corner Bistro has definitely found its footing with the community ever since. I am just one of 60 reviews so feel free to take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. But be warned, I don't bash places unless there is a legit reason to do so.

Eh. I'm struggling to see what all the hype is. I came here strictly because of the great reviews. I was attending a conference and staying at the Hilton about 3 blocks away. This place is SMALL! The street does look a little suspect--especially at night. Dark alleyways. Totally spooky. I guess it's a street full of brownstones/row houses and this one was renovated into a small bar/pub. You can tell it used to be a residence. The bar takes up the bulk of the space and there's just a handful of tables. Still, it's a very cozy (literally and figuratively) space--feels like you're in someone's private home. The two bartenders were nice. Lots of chatter and interesting conversation going on since the Freddie Gray riots are happening less than a mile from here. My problem: One of the bartenders (I didn't catch his name--bald white guy with beard--kept wiping (not picking) his nose with his bare hands, and he was scratching his beard. Then he gave me a glass of water and USED HIS BARE HAND TO PUT A LEMON IN IT. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO GROSSED OUT IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I didn't care too much for my meal, but I must say the garlic bread that came with it was AWESOME.

  • Elizabeth R.

THIS IS WHY WE YELP. We're attending a conference and staying at the Hilton / Marriott / Hampton Inn and there are some sketchy pubs nearby and of course a massive Shmeezecake factory nearby. And God knows, there's no better way to cap off a day of sitting on your butt in a meeting room than bellying up to a gigantic, deep fried, mass-produced, calorie bomb slathered in schmeezy cream sauce at the "Factory," right? So, we pull up the Yelp app, and SHAZAM! "The Corner Bistro and Wine Bar" is a mere 3 walkable blocks away. And it's definitely wine o'clock. So we find the cute spot on the corner and walk into a bright little room that feels like a warm hug, and there is Derrick, the owner and host welcoming you with a wide smile. He's got a list of specials featuring local delicacies and a menu of Baltimore staples. When you start to talk wines, he brings over a taste of something fantastic. You're trying not to bust the budget, so you politely inquire about the price and it turns out to be less than the ones on the wine list. When the food arrives-- corn chowder, fried oysters and a seafood soup of the day, it dawns on you that you've discovered something truly great. And the entrees, especially his surf 'n turf (NY strip with a crab cake), just bring the beauty of this little gem into sharper focus. Amazing food and wine in a warm friendly setting with gentle, knowledgeable service. This place is ALL THAT.

Great restaurant. They have a happy hour from 4-7, where you can get $5 glasses of wine. The food is amazing! I had the crab trio based on recommendations on yelp, and it was SOOO good. We will def be returning to try more of the food! The people I sat with also said their food was amazing - they had the crab chowder and the spaghetti and meat balls. It's in a really great location for all the hotels. So if you are staying at the inner harbor, you def need to check this place out! Much better than any of the other restaurants in the area. Yelp really rated it correctly!

This was a great place to eat and hang out. The atmosphere was intimate. There are maybe a total of 10 tables of various sizes. It's not a quiet restaurant, but there's a hustle and bustle that gives a nice, lively, infectious energy. The owner/waiter was a charm. He was friendly in his description of the day and he just seemed to be the type of guy with whom you could chat about anything. The restaurant is obviously his baby. Jessica got a bowl of corn chowder and I got the crab cakes. Both were wonderful and well-made. I can't say more about the food other than the fact that I'm writing about it right now makes me want to go back and get another serving.

Found this gem on yelp and really enjoyed my time there. My bf and I had no idea that Saturday nights is half off wine bottles under $50. What a great deal! We also ordered a cheese plate which was delicious but took way too long to come out considering there was hardly anyone there. All in all the atmosphere, servers, bartenders were all great and very personable.

I'm a huge fan of this place. I got the pleasure of eating here several times while staying with a friend that lived in the neighborhood. Derrick, the owner/waiter/bar tender/host is the man. Runs around the place like a madman making sure that everyone in the place has exactly what they need. The actual bartender ( I cant recall his name) is cool as ice, too. Can talk about any sport you want (or any other topic) knowledgeably for hours. I stopped in one night late, unknowingly about 10 minutes before they closed. Derrick didnt care. I offered to leave but he wouldnt hear it. He sat me down, made me a steak sandwich, poured me a glass of wine and stayed until I was done. Now THAT is service. Want to chill at the small bar and chit chat watching the game? Do it here. Want a place to grab a bite before heading to the stadium? Do it here. Want to take your girl to a romantic and cozy spot for dinner? Definitely do it here. I recommend the Bistro Burger and the Baltimorian (crab cake sandwich). For dessert, when they have it, the NY cheesecake with a glass of port is out of this world fantastic! If you want something to pair perfectly with your dish, or you want a dish to pair perfectly with your wine, just ask. It will be phenomenal, I promise.

Whats better than a glass of wine on a snowy winter day? Ended up coming here on a Tuesday evening and as it was quite cold I was super eager to get inside and stay warm. Seeing that the door was unlocked I thought it was just a way to keep the interior cozier but it wasn't- its because they were closed. Just an FYI if the black doors are closed- they're closed . Luckily, we were allowed to stay in even though it was 4:30. I got two glasses of red wine while my friend got a white wine- both were on happy hour prices which was a nice surprise . Also got the truffle fries which were very tasty. All in all I'd recommend this place to a friend and make a second visit

We found this place on Yelp and the positive reviews were spot on. Cozy atmosphere, attentive service, good food. We reserved a table for six but ended up bringing eight and were accommodated with no fuss. Although the wine we asked for was not available, our server quickly produced a good substitute at the same price point. Try the crab dip-- you will not be disappointed. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the portions were so generous we barely had room for dessert. But we ordered one of each (chocolate mousse and sweet potato cheesecake) and passed them around the table. I would definitely return to this place next time I'm in town.

This place was a win with a little bit of lose for me and my friends. We had just gotten off the plane from MN and were searching for a place to grab some good food in dt Baltimore so I yelped a place close! This had the best reviews so we tried it out. The outside was beautiful and romantic as it was about 9 pm and the inside was small but nice. The waiter we had realized was the guy sitting outside giving us disappointed looks as we walked in... Didn't seem impressed that he now had customers to serve. We opted out on wine since we were tired and wanted a quick stop but ordered apps and food! Crab dip was to die for with some delicious, very buttery, bread. I ordered the "Baltimorean" which was the crab cake ciabatta while my friends got the veggie version and the marinated chicken. The crab cakes were verrrry good with a lovely lemon tarter sauce and a wonderfully crunchy ciabatta roll, and the sweet potato fries were perfect (especially dipped in our leftover crab dip). We all were very impressed and satisfied with the food on our plates. The waiter continued to rush us and seemed to have a lot of friends come in and chat with him, though he still tended to us occasionally. It was a slight damper to our experience but the food and company was great.

Found this place on Yelp. The guy who runs it is awesome. So rare to find an owner behind the bar - makes you feel like you are visiting his home. Worth going here just for the hospitality. And the steak sandwich (which is really a nice steak on a piece of bread) is pretty darn good, as are the crab cakes.

This place is beyond cute, the atmosphere with the dim lighting and the candles! The waiter (I think the owner) was amazing. Ok on to the food, wow just wow. Everything tasted so good that our party of 10 completely stopped talking. All you could hear was "mm" "so good" and "yum" until we finished. They were so accommodating and we will definitely be back!

This is a great spot. I live right around the corner and have tried almost everything on the menu. The thing that's nice about the Corner Bistro is that it's classy, but still casual. You can show up in jeans and get a great sandwich for under $10, or you can have an excellent steak dinner with a bottle of wine. Neither would be out of place. Some of my favorites: Corn chowder (get it with the crab) Buffalo pork drumsticks (wings on steroids) Turducken sandwich Really though, it's all great. Highly recommend it, especially to anyone looking for a good meal before / after an O's/Ravens game.

The pork drumstick with buffalo sauce was a miss. It lacked seasoning, taste like you were just eating basic pork. On the other hand, the New York strip and the basil pesto pasta were so delicious. I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed.

Found this place on yelp while exploring Baltimore and had to give it a try. It was hidden on a corner in a residential area and had such a nice, welcoming atmosphere. The owner/bartender was friendly and the food was delicious. We each had a Philly cheesesteak and were impressed with tender flavorful meat and fresh tasty bread. Normally we would have ordered more to try but we were on our way to a baseball game. If we ever make it back to this area we will definitely return.

An intimate setting, phenomenal food, and great service. Derek, the owner, is very sweet and exudes passion for what he does. As soon as you come in he'll have you sipping on a nice glass of wine listening to that day's specials. The menu is small but diverse and having taken MANY out of town guests here, I've seen this menu deliver to a wide range of tastes with ease. Our guests always enjoy this taste of Baltimore. I highly recommend it to visitors and locals alike. It's a night on the town with all the nostalgia and comfort of home.

This place is the reason I signed up for yelp... Finally. The crab is awesome, service is great. I got the crab trio for an appetizer which consisted of two crab cakes, crab dip, and a crab salad. All was very good. The place is small but cozy, so perfect for a date night.

I'm visiting Baltimore on a business trip and found this place on Yelp due to it's higher rating. I convinced a colleague of mine to try it out and WOW we're glad we did! The food was fantastic. We both had the chipotle salmon with risotto and seasoned veggies. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the sides were both fantastic. Bottom line the food gets an A++ The service was awesome! A++ The wine selection is decent but They'er all good labels so they don't stock a bunch of "ok wine" just to inflate their selection. Quaint, cozy wine bar with great wine selection, excellent service, & very friendly owner, Derek, who will gladly share his extensive wine knowledge & tasting recommendations. Loved the Bordeaux tasting & the Big Red Mendoza. Didn't try any food, but all dishes looked good around me. Perfect place to chill out, savor some fine wine, & chat with friendly locals or other out-of-towners. Would be a regular if I lived in the area!

This is my go to restaurant in Baltimore. Anytime I'm hosting guests I take them here because it always delivers. It has a quiet comfortable atmosphere, and feels a little European. Derrick, the owner and waiter is always very friendly and informative. He's even given me complimentary beers before! As far as the menu, it's simple while being unique at the same time. I'd call it gourmet American with a strong Baltimore influence. It stays the same as far as I can tell but there's always a wonderful special being offered. My two favorite items are the Burger and Corn Chowder with lump crab meat. One if the top 3 burgers of my life. This is a great hidden gem right off Pratt St.

This little place is a great find in Baltimore. The owner/waiter/bartender is really friendly and he knows his wines. My friend and I ended up with a yummy Cote du Rhone that wasn't included on the wine list. The food was pretty delicious, too, with the exception of my steak that came out overdone. That said, the owner had another steak made right away and comped our entire (ridiculously good) dessert order to make up for it. Hard to complain about that...! The restaurant is tiny with only a few tables and because of that the owner told us it's usually best to make a reservation. The coffee is a light roast, so if you like a bold cup you won't be satisfied. The background music an epic playlist of every 80's pop-rock song you've ever danced to. There is a great tawny port if you feel the need to down more alcohol with your dessert. Go, go, go!

This is a cute little place to grab a delicious bit to eat and a glass of wine at a great price. The burger with herb butter and sweet potato french fries (best in Bmore - seriously) are my favorite, but I've never had anything bad here. I've sent many people to have dinner here and they all come back with excellent reviews. Highly recommend!

My wife and I were staying in inner harbor and decided to try out this restaurant based on the Yelp feedback. The mood of the restaurant was very intimate and cozy. Derrick the server provided excellent service and camaraderie. I tried the corn chowder with crabmeat and a grilled salmon topped with crab meat and cheese. The chowder was very sweet and not too thick probably one of the best chowders I've had. The Salmon also had a sweet taste not fishy at all I felt like I was rating gourmet junk food the crab meat was sweet and rich. We finished the meal with fresh ground coffee and a complimentary dessert that was akin to a chocolate lava cake which was rich and fresh. I would definitely come back to Baltimore just to visit this restaurant for a anniversary or other special occasion.

Always have a good meal here. The pork drumsticks were tasty. Many restaurants don't ask how done you want your sliders but they did here and they were cooked just right. The garlic truffle fries are the best! My husband had the Chefley- a huge sandwich that he really liked. It was big enough to take 1/2 home. To top it off, we asked Derrick (owner and server) for a wine suggestion and the one he picked was just what we were looking for. We love coming here after work at UM or before a ball game.

Running solo on solo biz trip and came here based on yelp reviews and proximity to Camden yards. Very cozy place and though it wasn't packed, had a nice lively atmosphere. Good date place or night out with another couple. Started with a very nice Sonoma Chardonnay and Stuck with it for the meal. Very good and only $7 a glass. For dinner, started with the soup of the day which was a cannelloni bean and bratwurst. Very good, flavorful and no extra salt needed . For entree had crab cakes since it seems like the right thing to do in Maryland. They were also very good with just the right amount of old bay and very little bread crumb. Sides were an herbed rice and asparagus. Rice was a little over cooked but very nice flavor and spicy. Didn't plan on having dessert but the bartender/waiter's wife was from Worcester and he gave me a third glass of wine in the house. So, I was compelled to have the warm apple crisp. Delicious! I will come here again when I get back to Baltimore.

The Corner Bistro and Wine Bar has the chance to be a great little spot, but currently misses the mark. The food was pretty good, but not wowing. Wine selection looked good, but I didn't imbibe (nor do I know much about wine anyway!). I had the turducken sandwich. It wasn't actually, turducken, where you have chicken inside a duck inside a turkey, but all three meats were present. There was a savory herb cheese sauce and melted swiss. The ciabatta bread was really soft. The sandwich was kind of like some heavy comfort food. I liked it, but it was missing something. The french fries on the side were mediocre. They tasted like those frozen fries you buy from the super market and throw in the oven. My friend's sweet potato fries were much better, but could have used a tiny bit more salt. The real kicker here was the setting and service. This tiny joint was absolutely packed. The owner/manager and one waitress were the only two working the floor. They were both moving so quickly around the room. Our waitress was very friendly, but the owner was a little off putting. He took a few seconds to chat with us (which was cool), but otherwise he was visibly frustrated, especially with the waitress. Running a restaurant is stressful, but it really detracted from the chill vibe that you expect out of a cute wine bar. I think they need another employee working the room. I'll come back when I have a chance, but they need to work on a few things for sure.

Definitely a place that tries hard. Good wine selection and happy hour deals ($5/ glass). For the neighborhood, it seemed to be the best choice around and certainly better than the dive bars surrounding it. My friend had the chopped salad, which was fine but not entree sized. I had the pasta special which was probably pricier at 21 than warranted.

Very cozy little place, great for a quiet meal or drink with friends. The portions are huge, especially on the sandwiches and the happy hour prices for wine are good (especially the Saturday half price wine!). The owner is great and very accommodating and the outdoor seating is awesome if you can get it. The closing time seems to really depend on how crowded the place is, and it does get more crowded with O's games!

A solid 3.5. rounded up because I think it has the potential to be really good! I feel that they need an identity check. I'm not sure what they want to be. the lighting, the quality of the food, the plating, etc all seem to clash. Lighting is super dim, super intimate, but there's 1 TV in an awkward location out of direct sight of even the bar. The space is small ..like a small japanese corner restaurant. But the food is a little too casual looking and tasting. I'm not saying that a small place can't serve casual, cheap tasty food, but taking into account everything such as the lighting, it's just a little too casual. The food, importantly however, is solid tasting as well as appropriately priced! Wine selection looks great! Med rare burger came out perfectly med rare. A solid burger. Nice toasted bun. The truffle fries were grungy like genos and pats philly fries. They're good ...but again...clashing. I feel as though they could tweek some things (lighting, type of food, quality of food) and this place could be needing reservations everyday!! The small cute space makes it feel more exclusive and will attract some people. That being said on a weekday night we waited 10-15 minutes because the space is small. A Girls night out group at the bar stools drinking wine and gossiping. Couples at the tables sharing an appetizer. A good mix of casual and serious people. Can't really explain this one too well. Check it out and let me know what you think! P.S. the owner who does front of house and service is nice but can get a little flustered with the pace of things. He'll try to hide it but is visibly frustrated at his coworker. They need to hire someone else or just chill. I didn't think they were as busy as it seemed. People are there to relax and chill.

My friend is somewhat of a regular here, we were greeted in the most friendly manner. Soft lighting, romantic yet relaxed ambience. Great wine list. Owner is very friendly. Absolutely everything on the menu was delicious! I had crab cakes (dinner) with spinach and broccoli and a bowl of corn chowder with crab meat and coffee. My friend had the Baltimorian (a crab cake sandwich), caesar salad, and a bowl of beef stew. We shared the bread pudding. I had coffee, strong and not bitter at all. Everything we ate was gold. They have an excellent chef. It is within walking distance of UMMC. Overall, I would definitely take a special trip to come here on a date or a meal with friends. One of Baltimore's best kept secrets--although I don't think it will be for long!

Try the pork drumsticks, you won't regret it. They come in chipotle, buffalo, or BBQ. I tried chipotle and buffalo and they were both delicious. The meat falls off the bone it's so tender, so eat it with a fork.

I've been here a few more times after my initial visit. The food is still delicious, although they are somehow always out of my preferred wine, Moscato, and dessert, bread pudding. My primary gripe is that the service is no longer that great. The gentleman who served my party each time was great on the first visit but has been slightly unpleasant the last few times I've been. He has not been outright rude but has a tendency to be short and somewhat irritated for no apparent reason. The last time I visited, my friends and I sat at the bar and chatted a bit before deciding on our orders; the waiter seemed annoyed by this. However, he should note that people go out to eat for the social, as well as, the culinary experience and that the restaurant should take care to make sure all customers have a superb all-around dining experience. I hope the service improves, otherwise I will no longer patronize the restaurant regardless of the food quality. Based on other reviews, the "waiter" I reference above is likely the owner or manager; other reviewers seem to have had similar experiences with regards to him seeming flustered and frustrated.

If you're a single woman looking for a nice place to eat by yourself, I can vouch for the Corner Bistro. I had the crab trio on Saturday, February 16th and sat at one of the eight bar stools. The whole place only holds 35 at maximum capacity. There was a large party taking up most of the table space, but I watched locals come in and ask to be called once a table opened. There are three tiny tables across from the bar that could hold one to two persons each, but I actually preferred the bar. The wine sommelier and the sole waitress both chatted enough to help me feel at ease, but not so much that I felt my thoughts were intruded. I brought a book, but I do that whenever I eat only. It probably would have been more fun to eat with others, but I was by myself in the city and wanted to avoid the crowded, more-touristy places closer to the Inner Harbor. This was in walking distance to my downtown hotel; one street over from Babe Ruth's home; maybe a half block south of Pratt. I generally prefer red wine, but with crab I thought white made more sense. I let the sommelier pick for me and the choice was perfect.

Fantastic food and welcoming owner and staff. Crab dip and crab cakes are fab as well as the pork drumsticks (get the chipotle sauce). "Big Red" wine is a wonderful addition to your meal. Highly recommend this jewel.

The neighborhood of Ridgley's has been in need of a new type of hang out for a little bit now. Though I am a new resident, I have been around the area for a while and the loss of the Hot Spot coffee shop and the Jamaican food restaurant (the restaurant that preceded Corner Bistro at the 213 penn location) were unfortunate. I hope that the Corner Bistro can fill that void. With brand new trendy tables chairs and a dim candle-lit, stained wood accented atmosphere, the quaint space has a warm, homey feel to it. The owner/bartender Derick is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We were just going for an after dinner drink to check out the new establishment so didn't indulge in any of the fantastic looking food that was all surprisingly affordabley priced. We had 2 glasses of Malbec Syrah blend that was a solid choice with a moderately strong punch and a clean after taste, served in really nice large wine glasses. Derick was nice enough to bring us out some complementary aged blue cheese and baguette to try and a free taste of the house red which was also quite good. I do have to say I was disappointed to hear that they were not planning on having any draft beer and that their small bottled beer selection was priced from 5-6 dollars and not very exciting. I know they are trying to be a wine bar and not a beer place but it would be great if there were just two or three good microbrews on tap. Also, the wine is expensive (7-10 per glass and bottles were in the high 30s 40s and 50s). This was especially surprising given how affordable their food was (7 to about 15 for mains). A good new place that I am sure I will go back to but unfortunately a bit too pricey for a frequent hang out on a med student's budget.

First, let me say I don't work or live downtown. I actually drive all the way from Cockeysville just to come to the Corner Bistro. And I've been back every couple of weeks. What can I say about the food? First rate and what outrageously reasonable prices! I can't believe they charge so little for the quality (and quantity) they give. How good is the food? We had the crab cake. Well, we've had some nice crab cakes in some very nice places, such as the Palm in DC. Let me say this is the best crab cake we've had. And the crab trio. If you like crab, this is to die for. Go in and be your own judge. You really can't go wrong. Excellent wines. Wonderful service. What a jewel! I can't wait to go back!

The Corner Bistro and Wine Bar was a great find. I had read about it, but got there Saturday at 2:30 and it was closed (they don't open on Saturdays till 5 PM). One of the owners was there setting up for a photo shoot with a local magazine. (the photographer never showed). He let us in and we had a private lunch with Derek. The place was warm and inviting. My husband had the corn chowder with fresh crab meat. It was slightly sweet and creamy. I had the Italian wedding soup and it was delicious....well-seasoned and yummy. We split a ciabatta with marinated chicken, crab dip and tarragon mayo. It all worked together beautifully to produce a tasty sandwich. The chicken was moist and the crab dip a wonderfully rich touch. We will definitely go back during 'business hours'. Thank you Derek for feeding two hungry visitors.

Excellent food, well-run, friendly and a nice selections of affordable wines. This spot isn't overblown with what they offer: It's quality, friendly, local and simple. Awesome neighborhood spot. The co-owner who runs the front of the house is cool and approachable. Try the garlic truffle fries.

Cute place that handled our group of 10 very well. Server brought several samples of wine, we ended up all ordering by the glass and a few appetizers. Order was filled quickly, hot apps were very hot, gold apps were cool and crisp. We probably spent about an hour and a half there, the server was just as attentive when we were leaving as when we walked in. I was happy with the place. I'm sure I'll visit again.

This is one of my top ten restaurants. The food is always delicious, Wes is a great chef. Its the Cheers of Ridgleys Delight neighborhood. Derrick makes everyone feel welcome as they walk in the door. my favorite is the crab cake and the sweet potatoe fries. I have never had a bad bottle of wine, as I always let Derrick choose. If you haven't been - try it, you will be pleased.

Corner Bistro and Wine Bar (CBWB) is a rare find. Delicious food served in a comfortable atmosphere at a reasonable price. Derrick makes the patrons feel like family. CBWB is an excellent place to go for lunch, a pre- or post-game meal, dinner or for a special night out.. We have been there many times. Earlier this week we had a graduation dinner for my son at CBWB that could not have been any nicer or more enjoyable. CBWB is a winner!!

Have heard good things about Corner Bistro but only visited recently. On a Saturday night we were one of only 2 tables. We were pleased to be seated at a 4 top though we were only 2. It turned out to be half price bottles -- we had a delicious zin and were talked into Bordeaux that we carried home. Both were excellent and excellently priced. We started with the cheese plate -- we are firm believers that if there's a cheese plate on the menu, you must order it. This was a cheddar/horseradish, asiago, and manchego, served with raisins, almonds, fig bread, tomato with balsamic, bread and crackers. The fig plus manchego -- delicious! We moved on to the corn chowder and a Caesar salad. The chowder was velvety and sweet. The Caesar was well done, an authentic dressing with a hint of anchovy. They were out of ground beef, so no burger, but the Philly cheese steak was a more than adequate substitute. The chicken Chesapeake sandwich was delicious although from the description of grilled tomato I did expect a little more char to contrast with the creaminess of the crab dip. We were pleasantly surprised to spend less than $100 for our meal. All in all, a great spot within walking distance -- will be returning sooner than later.

I've eaten almost everything on their menu and it's all phenomenal. This is an incredible place to be a regular at or just visit from out of town - Derrick definitely takes care of everyone who comes in. I may be slightly addicted to the Philly and garlic fries, but truly everything I've had here has been incredible. If they have spinach when you're there, you should get it - it's wonderful!! Other current favorites are the chopped salad and the Chesapeake. But you truly can never go wrong here!!

Wife and I were in Baltimore for 2 nights. The B&b we stayed at mentioned this place. Very small but mighty in service and taste. Great crab dip and sandwiches and amazing drink menu. Loved it so much we returned for the second and final night of our trip to taste more of the menu.

Derrick and Wesley Vaughan have a hit here at the corner of Dover and Penn Streets, 1 block from University of Maryland and the Babe Ruth Museum. I live in the neighborhood and have tried everything on the menu. It's all good and there is always a good selection of wine. This is the only place in the area where you get a linen napkin, a very nice touch. Whether you come here with a group, a date, or just a nightcap after the game or a day at the office, you will always be treated with appreciation and great service. Ridgely's Delight is a better neighborhood because of its wine thing, The Corner Bistro Winebar.
