Went on a very busy Saturday night. After reading some of the early reviews, I was a little concerned about how the flow of the meal going in. Fortunately, the service was great as our waiter was knowledgeable and made some good recs. We got our food in a timely manner and everyone was very friendly. The manager (i assume) came by a couple of times to ensure everything was going smoothly. The wine concept is great. We were able to sample numerous wines from all over and the staff is very helpful. The lounge area has a very nice vibe and I could see it being great for happy hours. To eat, we started with the Tuna tartar and the spreadsheet. The tuna was outstanding. The dips were just okay as the humus didn't have a particularly complex flavor. For dinner, I had the pork belly with grits, both of which were very good and I would recommend. Overall, we will be going back!

A girlfriend and I checked out this restaurant for sunday brunch and had a great experience. The food was delicious and arrived promptly. We had the breakfast burrito with fried avocado and the chicken club. The portions were huge and we both left with doggy bags of at least half of our meal. Two mains and two coffees came to only $25, very reasonable in my opinion. I will definitely be back soon to sample some wines! This place is perfect for a girls night or date night, with many different seating options. Also, when the weather warms up they'll have an outdoor seating area!

Great place . I went there with a group of girlfriends. Very inviting staff. Not really liking the fee associated with loading card or at least could have informed me. But overall great selection of wine . But the menu needs to be revamped.

The concept is great, and decor is gorgeous! That is really where the accolades end. The layout of the restaurant is unfortunate - not nearly enough space for the wine tasting/sampling machines, without constantly being in the way of someone. I visited for brunch with 5 other girls. We arrived shortly after they had opened, and we were the only patrons at that point. They did not seem ready for guests, as they were still hustling around & prepping. We were excited for the Bloody Mary bar, but were informed that they were no longer offering it. They also only had one wine card available. I did take that wine card & had it loaded, thinking that if I didn't use it that day that I would be back. Some of us ordered Bloody Mary's, and others Mimosas. The waiter came back several times - they didn't have the specified vodka, then they didn't even have Bloody Mary mix, then they were still freshly squeezing the Orange juice, then they were going to go get Bloody Mary mix. After 40 minutes, we still only had waters in front of us, and we were debating staying. We should have trusted our gut instinct....the waiter finally appeared with a tray of mimosas for the table, until the Bloody Mary's could be made. The glasses were very sloppy and uneven in quantity - some were mostly full, some were filled halfway, and they were not cold. THEN, the waiter tripped or something, and a mimosa was dumped on top of my girlfriend!! I'm talking in her hair, down her back, all over her coat, and barely an apology from the server! He was more mad at himself instead of apologetic. Eventually, another server brought us some towels and alerted the manager, who was very apologetic, and handled the situation appropriately by comping our meal, sending over trays of mimosas & bloodys, taking care of the dry cleaning, and switching our server. Once our food was delivered, we were severely underwhelmed. The Crab Risotto was miserably bland, and the pork belly Benedict was chewy. The burger tasted great, but was ordered medium & was very med-rare. I personally ordered the Mac & cheese, which was listed in the "shareable" section of the menu. As it was delivered, the server asked if it was going to be enough for my meal, as it was served in the smallest ramekin! It was good, but I don't know how that could be considered shareable, whatsoever. My girlfriend's dry cleaning took a week, and she had to call to check on it. I thought it should have come back with a wine card or something. I returned on a Friday night to use that wine card I had loaded. I was greeted by the hostess who told me if I didn't have a reservation, I wasn't eating there. The lounge /wine tasting area was cramped & several bottles in the machines were empty. I saw the same mimosa-dumping server running around, and knocking into standing guests. Again, it's a gorgeous spot, but management needs to review their practices and menu offerings if they want more than their 15 minutes of fame/hotspot-ness.

My first of what will be many visits! My friends and I had an excellent time! Wonderful concept, great staff and good food! We enjoyed sampling the various offerings and truly enjoyed the atmosphere! Only recommendations would be 1) valet parking 2) a flight recommendation of wines to sample and 3) a groupon deal to get the word out!

Nice atmosphere inside- probably a good place to sit in the lounge or at the bar. Unfortunately we went for brunch and our waiter was laughably clueless about the menu (sorry, but i think clueless in general too). I realize the restaurant is new but the waiter seemed new to restaurant service altogether. He didn't know the dips in the trio of dips app at all, said the tuna was "Like, really good quality, like sushi...but can be bland unless you mix it altogether [a certain way]" and couldn't explain why he said the tapped wines which are self serve with your wine card are "not as cold or chilled like the wines behind the bar." This could've been okay if the food had been great, but the food was only okay. There were only 10 mussels in the order of mussels, the tacos were average and the winter veg salad was pretty bland. Maybe we will try it again for just wine at some point.

This concept has been around for awhile and Sip isn't doing anything special. We found the service and hospitality to be forced and over rehearsed. The food was average. Nice setting, but Wine Market Bistro is a much better choice and is locally owned. Sip Wine Kitchen is from Atlanta and they can take their concept back.

Was really excited to hear about this concept from out of town friends who just visited this past weekend. Despite trying to stay on top of the food beat in Balto, I hadn't heard of Sip (mktg?) and was looking forward to trying something new until they began to recount a little more of their evening and I heard how difficult the service was. When the "Fish in a Bag" entree mentions "fresh vegetables," shouldn't a customer be able to inquire which vegetables specifically? Instead, they were told all sides are a la carte, and then when pointing to the "fresh vegetables" words on the menu, the waitress gave a side of major attitude with "just mixed vegetables okay?" She just went downhill from there though the food was decent. I don't know if I'll loop around the harbor to deal with this, especially when Wine Market always draws me in on the other side.

I've been back twice now since my first review and am happy to report good improvement on the service side. The kitchen is still quick as ever, too. First visit back there were a few bumps - our server/bartender ordered a couple of incorrect items for us, but I think the music might have been a bit loud. The restaurant did, very kindly, take care of it immediately and without any issue. The second visit back was pretty much on point, although it took them a while to get the ambiance in the lounge area right. Again, I think this restaurant may be just experiencing growing pains, and I do very much want it to succeed.

Despite some of the negative reviews on here we tried Sip. I will admit, they are working out a few kinks (bathrooms, signage) but considering the grand opening isnt until Feb 1, that's understandable. The food was AMAZING! We started with the artichoke fritters and oysters and had the kobe burgers as a meal. The fritters and burgers were superb! the oysters good but do not have the "smoked" flavor that the description is. THe spicy kethcup is a must - best i've had. The DIY wine experinece is very fun and there is a good wine selection. I will definitely be coming back and bringing friends next time. Absolutely recommend giving this place a try.

I went to Sip for lunch - I chose from the Restaurant Week menu - a showcase of their food offerings. Food was terrible and not worth the $15.00 price! Here is the breakdown. First course, was pathetic; chips? Second course, I chose fish tacos; soggy wrap, fish had strong fish odor and more chips? Third course, I wanted the chocolate mousse and they were out, so I had the peanut butter cookie ice cream sandwich; and cookies were burnt! The kitchen staff (professionals?) need to go back to the basics. I thought of Gordon Ramsey and he would have screamed all the way through this meal. The rest of the staff was friendly, and I do find the wine dispenser concept novel. Keep this place in mind for the wine and skip the food! Leave the cooking to the folks at the "Golden Arches" on Fort Avenue.

Let me start by saying I don't like when a bar has a 'concept'. And I really don't like the concept at this place. Just seems confusing and difficult to get a 'sip' or glass of wine. Lucky for Sip Kitchen, people seem to love places with concepts these days, so this place will do well based on that. Other than that, there was hope. The menu, kitchen, and dining area were all very nice. But there was no hiding that the restaurant was in serious trouble last night. Service was incredibly slow and they were way too crowded than they could handle. We only stayed because we felt bad for the server, who was incredibly nice.. She was literally running between tables to try to take orders. She had tables all over the dining room, which is a lengthy corridor. The manager, the guy in the suit, did not seem suited for the job. Seated next to the kitchen, we saw the plethora of items being sent back. His response seemed to suggest that the customers were the ones who were in the wrong, which isn't a great tactic for the hospitality industry. It may be that there were some quirks that need worked out, I hope that's the case - the location is probably one that could be quite successful.

Extremely frustrating experience last night at this joint. Booked a reservation 2 weeks ago for Valentine's Day, called 2 days before to confirm just to receive another call the day of to reconfirm. Upon arriving at the restaurant, despite the reservation, we are told there would still be a 10-15 min wait! There was no coat check (mind you its 10degrees in Baltimore) and both my date and I were wearing thick heavy winter coats for which we had to carry through the extremely overcrowded tight space while attempting to test wines. We eventually gave up on the tastings as soon as we realized most of the bottles were tapped out and no staff member readily available to find out when they will replenish. We finally get our table and are told our "server will be right with you." 5 mins go by, no server, 10mins no server. I get up and flag down the hostess to ask to send the server, 5 more mins, I get up and flag down the floor manager to ask for someone to send the server, STILL NO SERVER. Yes, that's about 20 mins patiently waiting for acknowledgement of some sort. Completely unacceptable. A waitress from another table stopped over realizing we hadn't been helped yet and honestly, she saved this place from my wretched experience. Her name was Jennifer and her skills were superb. She was extremely knowledgeable of the wine and food menu and made recommendations for proper pairing. Food wasn't bad but I've had better. I know this place recently opened and I think it's trendy because it's new but the novelty may wear off fast if management doesn't get it together ASAP.

Sip Kitchen is certainly a welcome addition to the Baltimore restaurant scene. I know the residents of the Ritz Carlton are excited since it is located on their property. You enter in the lounge/bar area and you'll find very comfortable chairs and couches, ideal for having a pre-meal drink so just hanging out. Also in the lounge is something called a numatic wine dispenser, this is 72 separate wine dispensing units you access by putting in a credit card you buy from the restaurant. Once you have one, simply put it in the slot, press a button as to the amount of wine you want and it's deducted from your account. The restaurant itself is bigger then you might imagine and decorated in a rustic style. Sip Kitchen is open 7 days for lunch and dinner with valet parking at night. I had the kobe burger and caesar salad and I enjoyed both. The general manager told me about 80% of the customers are not from the condo. That is a good sign and could bode well for its future. It's definitely casual and I might consider a reservation on weekends. I don't think you'll be disappointed with your meal. Go to sipbaltimore.com or call 667-239-3105. The exact address is 807 Key Highway. Eddie Applefeld

I was very disappointed with my meal here last night. The service was very poor. It took an hour just to get out first course which was just ok. Our second course came out luke warm and was nothing special. Our waitress was not very attentive and should have offered something such as an app since our food took sooo long. I wouldn't go back at least not for a while.

This is a new restaurant attached to the Ritz Carlton. They have a great wine selection but there was literally a 20 minute wait to valet my car. Furthermore there was no coat rack and many of us in the large party had to carry our coats around during the cocktail hour at 8 PM. otherwise the Decour is nice and the wine selection is great. The food was also prepared in an excellent manner and complement the wine perfectly. My only recommendations for improvement with people to improve the valley car service as well as the coat management problem either add a coat check or a coat rack.

Guarantee this place will be closed within the next 3 months. We were there last night... It was dead, the service was atrocious, the glasses and silverware were dirty, and the food was mediocre at best. It's a shame because it was great when we were there in January and it's sad to see a place with this nice of a location and concept go downhill so quickly.

AWESOME!! This is a terrific concept, wonderful atmosphere! The service was top notch from our server Jennifer to the manager Tiffany! I will definitely return and recommend them to all my friends!

While I love the concept of the serve yourself and try up to 72 wines by the 1 oz pour, I am skeptical that the wine acumen is anything above a novice. The wines were not grouped in any way that made sense. Typically, when you "taste test" wine it starts with your sweet/sparkling, whites, then reds, etc. the organization or grouping of the wines again made no sense. They could have even done something as simple as grouping by varietals, blends, or even grouped the wines as they were grouped on the menu. They also had a selection of scotch whiskeys that were severely underpriced, which is good for the customer( my boyfriend is in the restaurant biz and was having a field day enjoying all the cheap pours and shots and laughing at how much they undercharged per shot), but no so great for business. I suspect that the prices for these pours will go up very soon. Again, shows lack of knowledge of the product. They had a nifty reloaded-able card idea, but never explained how to use it? There was no sign or any info on the menu explaining how it worked. We even informed the bartender that it was are first time and he just handed me the card and went about his business. I had to ask the hostess to give me instructions to use the card. We ordered a small charcuterie plate which was great for the price. But again, when the plate came out the bartender didn't explain what different meats and cheeses and spreads were being featured-that's almost a given in anywhere when you order charcuterie. I guess for the price and the fact that the whole concept is built around trying different wines, it wasn't worth the trip across the pond. I know this place is new and as time passes, they will probably acquire more knowledgeable staff, but until then, it's not worth the price of an uber.

Without a doubt the worst dining experience of the year. When Sip first opened, I appreciated the concept, the menu originally offered and the upscale, more worldly clientele (it is in a Ritz-Carlton property, after all). Returning last night, I was shocked to discover the lounge filled with loud, obnoxious 20-somethings who I would expect to find in the bars on Cross Street. The wine dispensers no longer with great wine, but lesser vintages and names and - wait for it - booze shots. Next horror? Menus that were filthy; stained with grease, wine and god knows what else. Only worse than the appearance of the menu? The food items listed on the menu, expected at a local bar, but not associated with an upscale restaurant (which this is no longer). I see other comments here about the lack of cleanliness - and it is true. If the bathrooms are a mess, what is the kitchen like? And the manager, L___, an idiot. I want restaurants in Federal Hill to succeed. But this one I want to fail. Unless you are a 20-something with no concept of quality, service, food - but love the idea of pouring your own wine or shots, while listening to bad rock music, DO NOT PATRONIZE Sip.

Went to Sip on a busy Friday night. I was concerned about previous reviews suggesting that the service was poor. However, we were pleasantly surprised by our waiter and the overall quality of service. We ordered the papas fritas, tuna tartare, mussels, and kobe beef sliders. The papas fritas were crispy and well seasoned, and I found the spicy ketchup they were served with to be tasty with just enough spice. The tuna tartare was a bit bland, but the serving was generous. The mussels seemed a bit over cooked, but the broth was tasty and the chorizo chunks were a nice addition. The kobe sliders were delicious. We ordered medium-rare and found them to be well cooked with a nice crisp char on the outside. The bacon relish was delicious. Overall, the food was good, but perhaps a bit over priced. If I were to return I would probably order the sliders and chips only. In terms of the wine bar, we found the self service idea to be fun and unique. All you have to do is put a certain amount of money on a prepaid card and you can select servings of many different wines. This seems like it would be a fun place to hang out with a group. I was overall pleasantly surprised by Sip as compared to the previous reviews. The food is good but not great, but the self-serve style wine lounge is a fun and unique experience that I would be likely to try again.

I tried this place tonight with my friend and was disappointed. The place had a fun atmosphere with comfy chairs to sit in and lounge in the bar area but other than that our evening did not go like I was hoping. I liked the concept of trying the different wines and trying different amounts but found quite a few of them had a high price. My friend and I had never been there and when we told our server that we weren't sure how everything worked he acted like that was crazy. We asked about happy hour specials and he told us there were none. He said our only option was to buy a card and get drinks that way. My friend went up to he bar to order our food and water since the waiter that told us he handled the area never came back and saw a board stating specials. When she asked about the specials she was told they weren't good wines and that our cards couldn't be refunded since the money had already been loaded to buy the different wines. We then decided to split the quinoa salad which was missing 3 ingredients including dressing and sent that back. The manager that came over was very apologetic but we did not get another salad. We also split a grilled cheese sandwich which was good for what it was and came with friends that were quite flavorful. Definitely in no hurry to return even though the restaurant concept was fun for something different.

This place is fantastic. The food quality is unmatched and the staff is exceptionally friendly. The bartender could not be nicer or more attentive. Walking past the kitchen, which is open so you can chat with the staff, we asked what they were making and they handed us gorgeous slices of prosciutto. If you are looking for the best customer experience plus the best wine and food this is your spot in Baltimore. Not to mention the self service wine dispensers... This place is a complete no brainer. Happy to commute here from DC.

The DIY wine-tasting was SO much fun. We came here for my birthday and tried several wines from the "taps" before ordering two bottles. The food was AMAZING. We had the mussels (I wanted to drink the sauce from the bowl at the end), cheese plate, and crab risotto. Having worked in the restaurant industry for many years, I saw some typical "new opening flounders" that can be easily addressed to make the dining experience even better. When the server asked if we have been to Sip before, we said no. She then asked if we wanted something to drink. After knowing we had not visited before, it would have been nice if she had immediately explained the how-to's of the tasting experience (we had to ask). Overall, the staff did not seem properly informed/trained, but I hope that will all work itself out the longer Sip is open!!

My first experience with Sip was back in April and I cannot say enough about how good their establishment is. My friend and I each ordered a half salad, the soup of the day, and dessert. My Kale Caesar was perfection and I wanted to go swimming in the soup. For dessert I finished the night off with a key lime cheesecake and I could not have been happier. I plan on returning again soon. :)

I drove down to the Sip Kitchen on Sunday, September 13, with a friend in the hopes of sampling and enjoying various wines and partaking in their daily happy hour, but it was not to be. After paying for parking and walking across Key Hwy. to the establishment, l noticed that the hours of operation were removed from the front door, oh goodness, that can't be a good sign, l thought. I than shaded my eyes from the glare of the sun on the glass door and peaked inside only to be met with darkness...the Sip Kitchen was gone! I proceeded to pull on the door handle, but it was locked. I peeked in again just to confirm what l knew in my heart, it was gone, closed, abandoned, out of business, shut down, finito....you get my drift. My disappointment turned to anger as l realized l had money left on my Sip Kitchen card for additional wine tastings. What a bummer....

Hate it! I'm LIVID! The valet lied about taking cars at 9pm! I had to continually ask for my server. The server was cute and sweet but the service was HORRIBLE! After a long wait my ENTIRE MEAL and my daughters salad NEVER came. After 1 1/2 hours I'm spending $120 and I'm leaving hungry!!! The manager noticed the issue and my frustration and never cared to come over to say a damn thing. I love good food and don't mind spending for it...but this place will never see another dime of mine. And I plan to make sure that everyone I know stays away! Clearly we're not welcomed.

3.5 stars. The self-service wine bar is a great concept. You load up a card with however much dosh you want, pick your glass, stick the card in the slot, and select your serving size (1 oz taste, 3 oz half-glass, 6 oz full glass). Wine selections come primarily from New World sources (California, South America, Australia, South Africa, etc.). There are some classic Italian, French, and Spanish offerings (Cote du Rhone, Rioja, Burgundy, Chianti, etc.). Of the food we ordered, the crab cake sliders were the most appealing. Fish tacos weren't bad, with some spiciness in the sauce, but were a bit drippy for eating at a lounge table. Artichoke fritters sounded like a good idea, but weren't a favorite. They were less like fritters and more like fried artichoke chips. The lounge service staff were friendly if a bit scattered. The wine dispensers could be a bit finicky (one refused to validate cards at all because it had disconnected from the wireless network and couldn't be convinced otherwise), and they're not smart enough to detect if a bottle empties before you get your full selected pour size. If the bottle goes dry while dispensing, you get charged the full amount, and you need to find a server to either top up your glass by hand or credit your card appropriately. Now, I do have to give them props for running a Yelp check-in deal where if you spend more than $25 in food, they'll double the value of your wine card up to $25. All in all, an OK space with decent enough food and a nice system for keeping you supplied with your vino of choice. We'd probably head back if only because the self-service layout in the lounge really lends itself to a casual chill-out where you don't have to keep looking for someone to pour your next glass.

I am not sure where to begin with this place. This is easily the worst meal I have ever been a part of in Baltimore; easily the worst. You can look through my reviews and I don't hand out a lot of low ratings, mostly because I am super picky on where I go to eat based on reviews, but this was bad. Having never been to Sip I was pretty excited to go to a self-serve wine bar. We were also excited to try somewhere new for RESTAURANT WEEK. When we arrived we told the hostess, aka the manager, we were waiting for some folks and wanted to grab a drink, so she stated the lounge area is self-seating. Ok, so we sat down. No one came over to us for 15 minutes and this place was empty. So I got up, a little annoyed and went to the bar. I asked how we can get wine out of the machines. The bartender responded that I need a special card. Ok..................... I actually had to ask, how do I get said special card. So I think you can see where the night was going. So you put money on the card and use it in the wine dispensers. Great, I asked what happens if I don't use all of the money on the card. I was met with a blank stare and told, "well you aren't supposed to keep the card but I guess if you don't use it all you can take the card with you." Oy vey. The wine selection here for being a wine bar is pretty weak. You have options but most of them are only ok and you do not get solid pours for the cost. Fast forward to when our friends arrive and we are seated right away. We didn't get a wine menu so we asked for a wine menu. We didn't see that wine menu or our waitress for another 15 minutes. We finally got the menu and ordered our dinner immediately because we could watch the pattern or mess ups around us and new that we were in a place that was circling the drain. We waited about 45 minutes for our first course and nothing came out, in fact our waitress avoided us the whole time. Finally we stared down another waiter and asked what was going on. The tables around us were all having the same issues and food orders were being jacked up along with long delays in food. So the waiter left to check what was going on and he came back with a Caesar salad and an order of the mac and cheese fritters. Kudos to him for trying to stop the bleeding, but it was too late. About 5 minutes later the waitress came back and brought a flat bread out. We thought it was for everyone, no no, that was my wife's first course. Not to mention the flat bread was very meh. The fritters were over battered and super greasy. The salad had so much dressing on it, it was swimming. So we continue to get told it's the kitchens fault (Probably shouldn't blame everything on the kitchen to customers). Then I was told the manager would be right over, I told her that is great because I want to speak with her. Did the manager ever show up, NO. Our First and second courses did thought. Mind you this I after an hour and a half wait. I just wanted to leave. We all ordered the steak with beans and some sort of fritter. The temps were all screwed up on the steaks, go figure. They were all also charred to hell. Not good. So we have come to desert. We all order the brownie Sunday. Guess what happened? They were out of brownie Sundays? How, on the first night of restaurant week, are you out of that item already? We they brought a chalk board with other deserts, 2 of us order the cheese cake, the other chocolate cake with ice cream. Guess what? They were out of cheese cake and they lost the ice cream. I am not joking. At this point I wasn't mad I was just laughing because I couldn't believe how bad this was. I had a couple bites of my desert and put it aside because it was awful. It was some sort of bread pudding. The waitress did say the manager would take care of us and removed 20% from the bill. In my opinion it wasn't enough for blowing our entire evening. We were there 2.5 hours for a restaurant week dinner. I did ask where the manager was because I really needed to tell her how bad this experience was and that I will never be back, nor would I recommend this place. But did I ever speak with her? Nope. Mind you, we were not the only ones that had screwed up service, everyone around us did and it was awful. I stand by my review and I would never consider coming here again. I would avoid it at all cost. In fact, I will predict this place will not be open by fall, that is how bad it is.

Came here for a bachelorette party and enjoyed the atmosphere. I can't comment on the food as we only came here for the wine but the seating area in the front is dimly lit and is cozy with a good amount of seating. There's a good selection of wine to choose from and I really like this concept and I'm glad to see more places like this. There aren't really any signs to this place so it was a bit hidden and hard to find. The downside were the glasses...they were all dirty. Some of the glasses were actually dirty with some nasty things glued to them but the majority of them just had water stains; even the latter is not acceptable.

Sadly I have not posted re Sip and Kitchen before now...have gone about a 1/2 dozen times and loved it each time. I love the good and wine pairing suggestions and the what can I say the "sips" of wine are my favorite...great selection of wine easy relaxing atmosphere and love the fish tacos

Went with a friend tonight for happy hour. When we got to the bar at 5:30 we were told that they used to do happy hour when they first opened, but the manager didn't like the selections, so they are not doing happy hour anymore. Huh? I just saw yelp reviews from 6 days ago with hh. Confusing... Anyway, we sat in comfy chairs in the bar/lounge area by the wine dispensers. While there were 4 ppl at the hostess stand working, no one came over to see if we wanted to order anything so we went to the bar to order food, wine, etc. Since we were again told that there were no happy hour drink specials, we both put $15 on cards to get wine from the dispensers. I found the wine in the dispensers to be expensive and overpriced and they did not have as much as a selection as I would have liked to see. I wanted this to feel like a fancy place in the ritz, but it felt cheesy and sort of like they were not ready to open. Then I had to go back to the bar and order food and waters. I noticed a chalkboard on the side wall of the bar that had two wine glass specials on it?! When I asked the bartender about that he said "o, those wines are not good and you can't use your card towards those now." Ugh. I then ordered the quinoa Mediterranean salad and the grilled cheese. The salad was supposed to have quinoa, kale, feta, chickpeas, cucumbers and carrots. The salad came out and it was a kale salad with some quinoa scooped on top, carrots and cucumbers. The dressing was missing, along with the feta and chickpeas. How could 3 out of 6 ingredients be missing from a salad? I told someone that I saw walking by and they said they got a new chef yesterday and did offer to bring another one or remove it from our bill. We had it removed. I gave two stars because the grilled cheese was delicious! But I will not be back. The concept was neat but the execution was poor.

Visited Sip Kitchen for Friday Happy Hour with my girlfriends. We are all wine drinkers so I thought this would be a great break from the norm so everyone could try something new. We sat in the lounge area and ordered from their $5 HH menu and loaded up our cards to try the various wines. Several times my party chose wines ( 6 oz) pour and received the smaller 3 oz pour. I think some of the machines need to be re calibrated or something. Over all the Appetizers were pretty good. The wine and the sliders were great. The crab dip was just OK. I think it would be better with Pita chips or thicker bread. The bread it was served with seems like white bread grill on a pannini press. Overall great friday night HH place.

Great potential but this place falls flat pretty quick... my husband described the whole experience as just clunky. If they dimmed the lights and put on some music would make a huge difference. We felt like we were in a Disney restaurant or a movie set off set hours. The host stopped midway to our seat and looked confused. The manager, I assume, yelled to him "just throw 'em in the 20s and tell her they are there." We went on a Wednesday night and although it wasn't crowded to get around the wine dispensers was a challenge. They are right in the path of the servers for the bar area so we were constantly getting out of their way. Cool idea but the slow card system made us wonder what it would be like any busier. Our waitress was good but... maybe comparable to an SNL character? Kinda funny. Here's the low down... Order it: chorizo and fig, kobe beef sliders, cheesecake Mediocre: crab risotto, short rib mac n cheese Wine: Gewürztraminer, vouvray, moscato... struggled to find a red we loved. Oh... and the fire alarm went off for about 20 minutes during dinner. Fun. Curious about happy hour but won't rush back.

Let's start with "we were a group of 30"... As we were seated we were informed that tonight, 9.5.15 was the restaurant's last day. The server gave it his all - I believe his name was Rob. 2/5 wines I tried were superb, but alas, it matters not since they are closed. Maybe someone else will give it another shot, being sure to put as much focus on the food (it was very bland) as the concept and the wine.

Pros -there's wine and food...Im sure its great -lots of diverse meat choices -artichoke fritters pretty good Meh -$10 valet when street parking is 50¢ per hour Cons -everything overpriced by about 1.5x -given half salad at full salad price (same size as friend who ordered half salad) -told salad comes out of a bag when inquired about salad sizes -virtually no vegetarian choices, despite menu online suggesting otherwise Summary -other places throughout town have wine and far superior food choices with easy access and proximity to other things -go to those places instead

Cool concept but our food came out at all different times. Presentation ok. Bathroom were so dirty. No TP and TP all over the floor and paper towels on sinks. Server was good.

I had a great time at the Sip Kitchen. The host was nice upon entry. And the waiter was very knowledgeable about the wines. We sat in the lounge area and had bar food with the wine tasting. I was a little disappointed that there was no ports on the tap machines, but nevertheless, they had a great selection. The bar menu did the trick as it helped us to decipher some of the more complex flavors in some of the wines. Great service and Great flavor! Oh, and the atmosphere was very nice as well. Should be on everyone's list to try as I believe you will enjoy!

Ok, so, we are residents of the Ritz. Don't hold it against us. We went to Sip Kitchen's soft opening last December 2014 looking forward to finally getting a restaurant on site at our condo. At the soft opening, they didn't even have a menu to show us. And it has been down hill from there. We have had dinner at Sip four times since the opening. Time # 1 the waiter dumped a plate full of artichoke fritters on to my lap. I got a little apology and no offer for dry cleaning. Oh well. Second time was interesting because we went with our neighbors. Jim, my neighbor, is very knowledgeable about wines. He ordered a bottle for the table and the waiter said they were out of it. He ordered a second choice and guess what? The waiter said they were out of it. So we went with a bottle of something that we did not really want. I realize that wine availability is somewhat fickle at a wine bar but management should have a way to tell the customers what wine on their wine list is available to order with dinner and what is not. Third time, one of the menu items listed on the chalk board we ordered the waiter said "we just sold the last one." This was at 6:00 pm on a Tuesday. The fourth time, same thing happened but worse. They listed Sea Bass on the chalk board but again said they were out of it, again on a Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. But what is worse, our guest from California ordered the Yard Bird (roasted chicken) and asked if it comes with any sides. The waiter said no and she ordered a side vegetable. We also asked if our Halibut came with a side dish and he said no. So we ordered sides of creamed spinach. Guess what? Our California friend never got her chicken because the waiter thought she had only ordered the side vegetable for her entire meal, the creamed spinach was cold, and the halibut entre came cooked in the bag with spinach and mushrooms. We sent back the cold creamed spinach and shared our halibut with our guest. This restaurant will not make it. Fortunately for us, the residents at the Ritz will not have to subsidize the place when it goes under. This restaurant needs local management and not a management team from Atlanta. The waiters are not very experienced and we can tell their forte is not customer service. Our waiter this week should have repeated our order to make sure he got it right including our friend's order for the Yard Bird. For us, it is not worth the 15% residence discount, it is not worth the aggravation. We will stick to dining at our other favorite places in Baltimore and forget about this one.

I think that Sip has an interesting concept as far as being able to try a lot of different wines. You can purchase a card and use it to dispense wines at the machines or the restaurant is willing to get your requested pours for you and add them to your bill. There is a good selection of wines and our server was generally knowledgeable and able to make some helpful recommendations. That being said, the food was fine, but nothing spectacular. I might return to try different wines, but I'd probably order some appetizers and eat dinner elsewhere.

I went to Sip Kitchen & Wine Bar for happy hour on a Friday night with a friend and was pleasantly surprised with what I found. At first glance it was a little difficult to find as it kind of flows into the residences and hotel next to it. It was a pretty busy night so instead of waiting to be seated we grabbed two empty seats at the bar. Their wine tastings run from .90 to 4.00+ with a lot of them being around 1.50 I noticed. We were given two options to taste we could either purchase a pre loaded card and use the spouts on the walls or order from the bartender (since we were at the bar). We chose to order as we went and I like that option because I didn't have to decide before hand on the amount I would drink.. The bartender was pretty knowledgeable about the wines and helpful in picking our selections.. I only tried around 5 types and settled on something to order a full glass of but I can see myself coming back for more. Now on to the food.. Everything that came it around us looked so good I wanted to try it all! However I settled on the Dips and the Short Rib Mac and Cheese.. The dips were delicious, one was a little too spicy for my taste but it wasn't bad by any means.. The Mac and Cheese made me wish the portion was larger because I didn't want the bowl to end! The meat was perfectly cooked and it had a crumble top that just melts in your mouth!

Fabulous experience from the front door, to the appetizers, the sipping, the salad, the entree and the service. Definitely take the time to experience this. The decor is attractive and the attitude of everyone working there is positive and welcoming. Maybe you'll get Rachel as your waitress. Delightful young lady. Must try the wines and don't be stingy with your taste buds because of the cost. Try something new and different. You will enjoy the experience. After dinner or before take a walk around the harbor. It's an easy enough walk and if the weather is nice - even better. See pictures for a must try wine.

I went here with a party of 12 to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had a blast! You load up a card (like @ Dave & Buster's) and you can sample 1/ 3 / or 6oz pours of 70+ different types of wines and some scotch's and whiskey's. That concept alone makes this place a must-try. The wine machines are in the lounge area which features dark leather sofas and chairs and a bar made of tin copper. A great place to get together for drinks. Our table was in the back (in a private room) and was great. We mostly ordered shared plates (sliders, calamari, shrimp/grits, Charcuterie plate, etc) and the food was great. They also had a beautiful patio. The service was adequate: food came out fast and the server was friendly. I didn't give it 5 stars because they are still working out the typical kinks of being a "new" restaurant. It would have been great to get an introduction to the wine machines, but no one showed us this. IE: how the wines are organized, where to get fresh glasses, where to put used glasses, etc. Can't wait to try this place again and get an entree!

The wine selection was great, the atmosphere was nice, the service was great however the food was awful. I wish I would have eaten somewhere else before I came. Very greasy and overcooked. I understand that they're going for the "soul food" theme but deep fried food on every plate is a little much. I ordered fish and zucchini which was on special, assuming you can't go wrong, and everything was deep fried on my plate. I'll definitely come back for drinks but will make sure to eat before coming here

I'm sad to see all of the negative reviews about the Sip Kitchen because I went there last evening with a friend, for the first time, and found this place to be one of my new favorite spots. I have nothing but great things to say from when I entered till the second I left. The hostess that greeted me (Ivory) was so kind, she greeted me warmly, gave me a tour, told me how everything worked and. After that I couldn't help but have fun. I sat at the front bar while waiting for my friend, taking in the beautiful decor and atmosphere. When my friend arrived, we decided to enjoy the lovely spring weather out on their newly opened patio, it is still being developed, but it was attractive and inviting all the same! Our server, Emanuel, was outstanding! So kind! He made an outstanding recommendation for every course, from the appetizer to the entrée along with a fabulous wine! We had the short rib Mac and cheese to start, which was to die for! It could have been a little warmer, but the texture, flavor and presentation was amazing! For our main course my friend and I ordered one of each of the days specials, the Chilean sea Bass on a bed of quinoa risotto and the pork chop with a lemon capper sauce, the food was cooked perfectly!!! And I have to say, outstanding! I loved the open kitchen concept and made it a point to tell the kitchen staff how much I loved my meal, and they were very humble and grateful to hear how amazing and special they made my evening. We were approached several time to be checked on, by both our server and the manager, Tiffany, but not too many times that we were overwhelmed. It was such a lovely atmosphere, with some of the most friendly people I've met since moving to Baltimore five months ago. I do believe that I will find myself frequenting this wonderful establishment in the future!

Why just three stars? Because i came in with a group of 9 girls and they told us they only had one wine card for the nine of us. When we looked around, tables of two people had one cared each-- not ok. And it took three different people to come in to tell us that...again, not ok. When you see a group of girls coming in, you know they are going to be drinking-- either make sure you can handle their order by providing more waiters/waitresses, or give them more wine cards by crediting other tables and using THEIR wine cards for us. I have to say that it really took away from the experience. That and at least two wine bottles in each machine was out.... But the rest of the experience was good. Our food came out on time and it was good (not great). Although, the french fries WERE amazing... I mosied on over to the bar afterward to meet up with other friends afterward and the bartenders were wonderful. They knew the wine at the restaurant well and did a great job of letting me know what I would be interested in and letting me try different wines. I would go back, but I'd probably stick to the bar-- or go with someone who already has a wine card since I can't guarantee the restaurant will have any in stock...

My fiancé and I decided to try Sip Kitchen and Wine bar for Valentine's Day. We live in Federal Hill and love to support the local restaurants. Sip offered two seating times, 5:30 and 8:30 (I believe). We chose the 5:30pm as I didn't think I could wait til after 8pm to eat dinner. The times were a little funny... they should have been more like a 6:30pm seating and 9:00pm seating. Anyways... the menu was pre-fixed and gave you two options to choose from for each course. The first course we both selected the Lobster Risotto with asparagus. My fiancé thought it was dry, I thought it tasted great...but we both agreed the portion was fairly small. For the second course, I chose the Crispy Skinned Striped Bass. It was in a lot of basil, and nicely flavored! My fiancé chose the Pan Roasted Fillet and said it was the juiciest piece of meat he had had in a long time. He really savored each bite! We decided to have the Crème Brulee Cheesecake, and Warm Chocolate Bundt Cake. The cheesecake was to die for! The Chocolate Bundt Cake was overly salted with big chunks of rock salt. We liked the concept of being able to sample the wines, however it was annoying when a bottle was "out". You had to find someone working there to ask to get it refilled. My fiancé spent about 10 minutes waiting on a new bottle and our food was delivered while we were away from the table. I think we would go back again to see what is available on the regular menu.

Upon arrival. I must say that I had to make several uturns to find the place. As I pulled in for valet, to the right is an unsightly dumpster bay for the hotel and or residences. Valet was courteous and when I inquired about the cost of valet, he indicated that the price was "whatever you wanna tip me". As I entered I thought, "Great decor". Nice concept with the wine card. The staff seemed friendly. The bartender was quite knowledgeable about wines and personable. The place is still fine tuning some of its logistical needs and general layout. The entire restaurant is surprisingly cavernous, however there restroom (judging from the size of the men's) is quite small. If the restraint is full on a weekend one can easily surmise a long slow queue for relief. The food was simple and tasty, but drab in presentation. Serving dishes on an jail-like aluminium tray with a sheet of meat packing paper in it is not reflective of the price point; nor does it match the presentation of the extensive wine collection. I expected at least a dash of colour on my plate besides the super spicy quartered pickle. The leather chair and Dot & Bo decor throughout the restaurant conveys the industrial chic, therefore urging the expectancy of chic in the service and plating. Alas, I was disappointed. But wait! Since I believe in second chances, I plan to return on another night for dinner instead of just a small plate and wine. Ok... Don't kill me for hoping that Sip will be the cool wine and dine spot in the city where the non-pretentious can go, socialize, and have a great restaurant experience at a modest price point versus the overpriced overrated experiences of Harbor East (including the aggravation of finding parking). My departure was a tad frustrating since the valet saw me come out of the restaurant attempting to give him my ticket for my car. Since he was in the process of receiving another patron's car, he simply could have accepted my ticket, park the patron's car, and retrieve mine. Instead, I had to wait 15 mins for him to finish checking in the new patron, park that car, walk up from the parking garage, get my ticket, walk back down to get my car, then drive it up to me. All the while I thought that his tip he to which he referred when I arrived was dwindling by the 5-minute increments. While I already have a distrust and disdain for valet, I erred in my judgement. Next time I'll park at the meter. Better use of the tip money & less agitation.

If you're looking for cozy atmosphere, good food and a fun twist on your dinning experience, I recommend trying the Sip. Friendly bartenders and servers, yummy menu and wine on draft!! Grab yourself a wine card and try over 72 different sips. The Kale Caesar salad is what's up! Also the whiskey wings and artichoke fritters are on point. Enjoy. PS this spot is affiliated with the Ritz-Carlton so you know it's legit.

I have no words for food and management... I've been in the culinary business for 20+ years and this must be the worst place I've seen in Europe or the US... Good riddance... For more information go there and hate it yourself... Wish I could give zero stars...

Luv the concept it's a pretty balling. But most definitely not where you go if you're actually hungry. The food's a bit pricey but that alone wouldn't be an issue if the portion sizes were comparable to the price. Ambience and presentation: A+

Jennifer the bartender is one of the nicest ones I've met in the city - such a great smile and attitude. Her optimism/service is a rare find (I've worked in 6 restaurants so I can say that)! The manager that night was also very accommodating and polite. Great decor and music - a very fun and interactive date place. The appetizers I tried weren't impressive but their menu looks delicious otherwise.

DO NOT GO HERE. Go here only if you want very bland food, not enough food, no food available that is on the menu, and some fun but overpriced wines (half of those are out also). This dinner was maybe the worst dining experience I have had in Baltimore. We met friends there for a 9 pm Friday night dinner with a reservation. We waited 20 minutes for our server to explain the DIY wine thing and then another 20 (no exaggeration) for her to bring our wine cards to us. We ordered charcuterie which was mediocre and came out with only 5 instead of 6 items. It also came out a very long time after we ordered. We ordered a brown sugar "roasted" squash salad--the squash was RAW, you could not put a knife in it. She took it back and brought another which was exactly the same. We ordered at least 5 things off the menu that "I'm sorry, we are sold of that tonight"--the grilled cheese (sold out of brioche), crab risotto, pork belly, short rib mac and cheese, fig and chorizo---yes, all out. Of course the server did not once tell us in advance they were out of anything, just kept apologizing after we would study the menu a little bit more. The food that we did get (sliders, tuna tartare, kale quinoa salad, bur rata which was awful) took 45 minutes to arrive on the table. The server "comped" us dessert that we did not ask for, so imagine our surprise when the 2 desserts and also the squash salad were on the check. We then had to send the check back again. The manager I think is a blonde lady--she was in the vicinity the entire evening. I saw her talking only to staff and not to a single customer. All of those issues and she never came over to our table, nor anybody else's. We will not be back.

The concept is great! Unfortunately the wines run out and the staff is grumpy. When the wines run out you won't get a full pour so you have to tell the staff the wine bottle is empty then wait to get the rest of your drink. Since the staff doesn't get tipped for anything but on food orders, they really don't want to help. And let's be honest, nobody goes there for the food.

So fun to eat at the "chef's table", bar seating that looks into the open kitchen. You feel part of the kitchen banter and sometimes get to try an extra bit of whatever they may be preparing. I haven't had a single bite I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Try the pumpkin cheesecake if they happen to be serving it when you're there.

Has great potential however it took an hour for my steak to come out (which they comped), and the bar was slow in getting our server our wine through out the night. Food was alright but not worth the price. It's a great idea just needs the kinks worked out.

Let me say right up front that I was on the fence about whether to give this a 4 or 5 star rating. If I had the ability to give an extra 1/2 star it would be 4.5 stars. What made me deduct the star? A few things, actually. One is kinda ticky-tacky, but it does factor into my decision making when I select a place to eat/drink, and yes, I know this is a city location and parking is a challenge, etc - the issue is valet parking and parking in general. I like that valet is an option b/c there is no convenient parking nearby, but I'll be frank, I hate paying for parking. Now, if I HAVE to pay, it is nice to be able to pull right up to the door and have someone else park my car for me. This point alone wouldn't have made me take a star though. The second thing that factored into my deduction is the signage and location - it is VERY difficult trying to figure out where the restaurant is located when you are driving down Key Highway. The first time I went (I've been twice) I didn't see it at all and had to circle back. Even then I went to the wrong Ritz location and the doorman had to direct me down the street to the actual location. I really can't recall seeing a sign at all, I just knew that it was down and to the right. The third thing is there were no coat racks or coat check. I went twice this month and had to deal w/ my winter coat both times. With bulky coats it would have been nice to be able to leave it somewhere. The final thing is the space in the wine area. This one cuts both ways so I'm not complaining too much. I found that with people milling around and making wine selections it was difficult to navigate around. The way to handle this is to have fewer or smaller chairs and tables in the seating area - but I don't really even recommend that b/c once I was seated, I loved the comfy chairs and availability of plenty of seats. So, consider this 'complaint' to be more of a minor irritant. On to the good (GREAT!). I went on 2 particularly hectic days - Valentine's Day and then last night with a group of about 40 - yes 40! women. On Valentine's Day I went for after dinner and movie drinks with my husband. I love the concept and loved the wine area. We sat on a soft sofa and sipped away. I loved the ability to have as little or as much as I wanted. The service that day was average, I'd say, but I truly have low expectations on a day like that. The server wasn't bad, just not phenomenal. What was phenomenal? The kobe burger was absolutely amazing! We ordered one to share and we were fighting over the last bite - keep in mind we weren't even terribly hungry b/c we'd had dinner earlier in the night before seeing a movie. Delish! The group dining experience was absolutely amazing and I have nothing but praises for the entire night. We initially thought we'd sit in the wine area but as our rsvp's continued to grow we stayed in contact with the planner and she ended up setting us up at several tables in the back of the restaurant. What a good call that was! She also assigned 2 or 3 servers to our group so we were constantly tended to and never felt neglected or that service was slow. It is NOT easy to handle a group that size without a set menu (we didn't have one and were able to order whatever we wanted which was nice). A few things in particular were appreciated: they made up a whole bunch of $20 preloaded wine cards before we arrived so we were able to simply pay cash for them and get to sipping pretty much as soon as we walked in the door. That means that none of our party was congested near the door while they waited for their cards - everything flowed smoothly. Another nice thing was that we were able to go back and forth to the wine area and order food as we liked - no need to wait for the entire party to arrive to order dinner all at once. The other thing I appreciated was that with a group this size I fully expected that there would be a service charge automatically added to our tabs - that didn't happen. Silly observation, right? Maybe its just me. Even though we took over the entire back of the restaurant I never had the feeling that we were too loud or that we were disturbing the rest of the patrons - you'll have to ask them though if they agree! Ha! I ended up ordering the kobe sliders b/c I loved the burger so much on my first visit. Many people ordered from the Baltimore Restaurant Week menu and everyone loved their selections. A particular hit from the regular menu was the pork belly. 3 people near me ordered and loved it. I really didn't hear anyone at all complain or even criticize the food selections and with that many women, things could have been very different! In any event, I really like this place and intend to return - did I mention that I've been twice in Feb?

SIP is a serious restaurant with amazing service and a big menu with delicious tapas-- no matter which one you start with you will want to keep going. The wine setup is the only one of its kind in Baltimore and a wine connoisseurs dream. Hooray for Tiffany, the manager, and her professional team who will stop at nothing to make sure everyone has a perfect experience.
