This Red Parrot is located between Tapas Teatro and Pen & Quill near the Charles Theater. There is a small bar up front with a few taps, and several tables throughout. There is a sushi bar in the back, but I was disappointed to see it was not being manned while we were there at 7PM on a weeknight. There was only one man working the entire front of house while we were there. It wasn't very busy but he did seem rather overwhelmed. There are a lot of selections on the menu, but I found it rather confusing as I could not discern portion size from the different sections. I ordered the Malaysian Rice with Shrimp (I actually ordered it with Chicken, but oh well), which was mostly plain rice (aside from the additional protein) but was clearly cooked in a lovely coconut broth. I was put off that it was served on a large plate with one large spoon. Was I supposed to serve portions out onto smaller plates, as I'm pretty sure happens at most Asian places with rice dishes? We weren't given any smaller plates to do so with if I was, so I was glad that we did start with our own silverware so I could use my fork. My wife ordered the Thai Special Wonton Soup and was incredibly disappointed by the meager pieces of chicken I the wontons and the intense amount of salt the soup contained, comparing it to drinking straight soy sauce. Our friend ordered some Spring Rolls and Mango Sticky Rice, which she absolutely loved. I would have given this place a lower rating if her experience matched ours. I suppose it depends on what you order and what your expectations are. I expect I won't be ordering anything there any time soon.

If I could give this a zero, I would. I never got to the food, as the staff were so rude, dismissive and neglectful, that we didn't bother to stay. Wasn't impressed with the menu or decor either. Bottom-line, service was abysmal, and I don't give my money to businesses that ignore me.

My family is debating this four-star rating -based on the food, they think we should give a 4 1/2. we came on a quiet, cold holiday - there was no one in the restaurant but us - and I think the atmosphere suffered as a result. The radio in the kitchen clashed with the music they were piping in to the dining room - and the kitchen has better taste! However, the children's menu is excellent, if a wee bit pricey. they brought a beautiful sushi boat with my daughters fried shrimp. my other daughter ordered the lo mein, and absolutely loved it - as did everyone else at the table! The egg drop soup was good, and I liked my partners pad Thai quite a bit, but she felt they were too heavy handed with the fish sauce.

Oh my god! This place has wowed me!!! I live in the neighborhood and have made pits stops here a few times, and each time it was meh. Nothing to be remembered. But man they improved!!! That feisty little Asian man who's in here now, knows what he's doing. We came for dinner on a random Wednesday out of laziness, I had the pad Thai and my brother had the pho with beef. The pho was served very authentic, with the vegetable add on and hoisin sauce. The padthai had the perfect amount of crunch and tasted amazing! I will start making this spot a regular dinner destination for lazy week nights

We went here on a Sunday afternoon while we were waiting for the Charles to open and none of the other restaurants were open either. Trying to kill time but having just come from brunch we ordered the edamame, Mango Freeze, and Aromatherapy cocktails. The aromatherapy was alright, a little sugary rather than refreshing/herbal. I really liked the Mango Freeze despite it being windy and cold it contains tequila, mango ice cream and other stuff. Tasty. It appeared to be slow in there a few tables here and there and the staff was rotating rather than sections since again it was pretty empty. Bob was our bartender and gave us decent service. Perhaps he was just disgruntled because he had to work on Super Bowl Sunday or because the younger waitress he was working with seemed a bit flighty. It was around $ 31 for tip and drinks. I would go back for dinner maybe but I wouldn't go out of my way- the location is rather odd in a still gentrified neighborhood. The Charles is what will probably draw most customers here in between film times. Street metered parking or the garage across the street for $ 2.

A friend and I visited here on a Friday night and everything was great from the food to the service. Looking forward to coming back!! The place was clean and the server was extremely fun and welcoming!! All of the food came out beautifully and delicious. It was extremely cold outside and they had the heat on full blast, I can appreciate that. We sat by the window but we were warm and cozy! I will certainly be returning!! Oh yeah and the cheesesteak egg rolls are on point!!!!!

I guess this just isn't my kind of place. Maybe it's for college kids, since UB and MICA are nearby. If I hadn't had a Restaurant.com certificate, we wouldn't have stayed to order. Our first impression when we walked in around 6:30 pm on Tuesday evening was negative because the tv above the bar was absolutely blaring, and there was loud pop/dance music playing as well. Since the restaurant was empty of customers, this was very jarring. We asked the host if we could be seated away from the tv and he put us in the back section of the restaurant. The place is small, though, so we could still hear the tv, dance music, and additional music that was coming from the kitchen, I think. Quite a cacophony of noise. The menu listed plenty of appealing options. My boyfriend got the tofu drunken noodles and the crispy eggplant. He loved both. I had a ginger limeade that was fantastic. I also got sushi deluxe dinner, which is 8 pieces of nigiri and a tuna roll. Everything, including the drinks, took a painfully long time to come to us. It was strange because we were still the only customers (except maybe takeout customers, but I'm not sure). Also, the tuna roll that was supposed to come with my sushi dinner was delayed even longer because the sushi chef ran out of sushi rice. (I don't understand how that happens in an empty restaurant.) On the plus side, he accidentally made a spicy tuna roll first, so without asking, the waitress told me that I would be getting the regular tuna roll and spicy tuna roll both. My sushi was ok, except for the tamago (egg), which tasted weirdly bitter and didn't look good, either. Our waitress was nice and seemed competent, but there was another waitress in there who got into an argument with her supervisor while we were there. This same waitress seemed to be pacing back and forth through the restaurant, sometimes looking at her phone. It was really unprofessional. I felt embarrassed for them. I kept noticing that there was food on the floor under the table next to us, so instead of pacing, maybe she could have been looking for things to tidy. Long story short, if the atmosphere hadn't been so uncomfortable and the service so slow, we would try Red Parrot again, because we did like most of the food. But decent Asian food is plentiful in Baltimore at this price-point, so I'm pretty sure we won't return.

Location and service review only! Came on New Years day at 1pm and left after the server grabbed her lunch from the pizza guy and didn't take our order. Nice looking location and interesting menu but the staff was very stand offish. Additionally no host or staff at the front. Waited up front for a while for someone to come and once they did they helped the people that came in after us. Might try this location again but pretty disappointed as if yet.

I got some sushi to go here during the Artscape Festival. The sushi was prepared quickly and was very fresh. The owner was very friendly and you could tell he was very happy to have all the Artscape " hubbub" going on around his business. My only complaint was that the sushi I thought was a bit expensive at$14 for two rolls. But overall I would go back again.

I had the drunken noodles with chicken. The dish was delicious, had large pieces of chicken with green and red peppers along with mushrooms and tomato. it was supposed to be spicy because I asked for the 7 on a scale of 1 thorough 10 however it was not which was a little disappointing but it was still good. Service was a little disjointed but to be fair it hadn't been open that long. I will return again anxious to try the soup. It would be helpful if all wait staff explained the rice and noodle concept,

Not impressed. Service was slow and food was mediocre. Don't go there unless you have two hours before your movie.

Staff friendly as hell, waitresses be cute AF. Sushi usually on point, other stuff on menu is basic. I come here to kill time while I wait for the bolt bus. I like to get a strong buzz on before I sit on that nasty a$$ and this the only spot close that's open... Airport grade Asian food with airport prices to match. Happy hour prices are proper and that's what's up. Servers usually eff my order up but thats okay, I know they don't know the menu and I'm a god damn pig and will eat anything. Subwoofer make the whole place sound like a strip club, I feel like I'm at Scores every time I walk in here. Flat screens and stripper jams bumpin. It's funny, I ain't even mad... I was pumped to see my boy Bill behind the bar one time when I came in, he used to sling Bohs at the Rendezvous up the street, dude crazy as hell, love it... Anyways, I'll be shocked if this place is open much longer but as long as it is, I'll still bring my dumbass in...

The menu is still being developed but is probably too busy with varied Asian foods. The Hong Kong chef put out the best Chinese broccoli and tofu and soup dumplings that we have had in Baltimore; the chicken with black bean sauce was great the first time when I asked for spicy, bland the second time when I forgot to ask them not to Americanize it. I think careful ordering with a request for traditional flavors can give you an excellent Chinese oriented meal here (even when I goofed and got the tempural shrimp instead of the orange shrimp it was good, though). The staff needs to get better trained, but this is a new venture. The liquor menu is excellent.

Being hungry on Xmas eve can be challenging. Everything was closed but this wonderful beacon of light was open! They were just setting up the bar so everything wasnt in its place yet .. We didnt care, we were starving. We ordered fried rice and ramen. The waitress was really sweet but a bit ditzy. Our food took about 30 mins to come out. I knew of no reason why considering it was a handful of people and what we ordered was quick. I know this because im in the culinary field and cook the same product. When the food finally arrived it was good not fantastic but good and hot. We returned again in hopes of getting a meal before we had to see our movie. We arrived 50 minutes before the movie started hoping that was enough time to eat. Our meal came 30 minutes again.. I asked the manager why and he replied oh I see that happening I just started yesterday. We missed our movie by 10 minutes and at that point we were turned off and had to go to another theater. However, the food was quite tasty even if it took forever to come for no reason.Im not sure if ill return considering I can go somewhere else get the same quality of food and get it in less than 10 minutes.
