I don't know what people are talking about!! I give this place 5 stars... A- the pizza isnt crunchy... it melts in your mouth gooey... B-the cheese i awesome... and C- when it comes to mushroom pizza I am a heavily picky eater... and if a pizza place makes it to where i"ll eat it... then YES i will be a frequent costumer.. NOT ONLY THAT! This place is CHEAP... yes CHEAP... its delicious and CHEAP for college students especially. I always go there at night with my friend... they also make good fries... and the people in there are GREAT. They remember your faces and will talk to you. DON'T BE SHY... these people are awesome.

I've only had the gyros here. I can always count on Oriole Pizza to deliver me a gyro so fat that I need to use the container it comes in as an extra prop to transport it safely to my mouth. But it's not just enormous, it's delicious too! The fries are bland and not worth it, but the mozzarella sticks are pretty good. $6 for a tasty gyro that requires an extra set of hands to consume keeps me coming back (...at 1 am)!

I would have given less than 1 star but it's not possible. I ordered a pizza at 11:30pm and was told 45-50 min for delivery. 1hr 45min went by and still no pizza. After multiple calls getting nowhere after 1am, I cancelled the order. In the morning I noticed that my credit card was charged without ever having signed the receipt for the pizza! So after calling the next day, I thought it would be easier to just order another pizza instead of asking for a refund. That pizza took 1hr 5min to receive and the toppings were incorrect. Unbelievable. Very bad delivery service. I can't imagine all of their deliveries are this bad.

I've only ordered from them once but I can't bring myself to do it again. I wanted a chicken parm sub. What I got was what looked like "short-cuts" chicken (those pre-packaged, pre-cut bits of chicken they sell at supermarkets) with some really nasty gooey cheese. I happened to be really hungry that night though, so I ate it anyway...well we all make mistakes!

Great pizza and subs. I always order from here and the deliveries come quickly.

Amazing pizza!!! The marina sauce is sweet and flavorful and the pizza dough is delicious. Wonderful pizza. HOWEVER, the cheese sometimes doesn't stick to the pizza well enough. Also, at most pizza places, you can get half the pizza with one topping and the other half with another topping and they'll only charge you for one full topping. But here, they'll charge you for two toppings! Despite the fact that you're getting half the quantity of toppings. It's the same price if you want a topping on half the pizza or the whole pizza, unfortunately. Nevertheless, must try this pizza if you're in the area. If you're by Penn Station and waiting for your ride or train, order the pizza, they'll make it quickly and eat it on your commute :)

Fantastically unremarkable. I come back here because of the price. I usually get the personal pizzas, which are priced just right, $5 for a plain-jane regular pizza. Oh man is it salty. Their cheese is salty, the dough is salty. The only bad thing is that I keep forgetting about it all when I'm hungry in the area. It's a vicious cycle. It doesn't help that they prey on my nocturnal habits and open late, further taking advantage of me. What can I say, I love hating this place and will go back.

Amazing pizza for cheap. No idea why so many negative reviews. Always fast and friendly service in my experience

The pizza is buttery and delicious have loved it and the cheap price for 10+ years. Their cheesteak is good the fries are excellent. It seems delivery patrons are the ones complaining so maybe thats their weak point but I'm telling you the food is good and the men that run it have always been exceptionally kind to me. Update: Just went to their new place on the corner that sells Indian etc GET THE GYRO! The thing is more expensive than most but it is gigantic and the meat tastes good.

Ok, I've gotten their personal size pizza at least a dozen times. Each time it was consistent and each time it was great. I think they have the best pizza on Charles St. But then again, I'm not from MD and I can only compare them to other pizza joints on Charles St. It's great pizza overall. The guys at the counter are friendly while you wait. My only gripe is that when I watch the guy making my pizza, he didn't have gloves on, but I figured, by the time he puts the pizza in the oven, the oven heat would kill any germs, so I'm straight. If you happen to be on or near Charles St. try their pizza.

NonononoNONoNonoNoNonoo..!! bleh! I ordered food here from the Eat24 App while pulling an all nighter at work..my late night craving for pizza kicked in around midnight and thus began my "should I order a pizza' dance.. by 1am, I decided, "yes. Yes I will order pizza"..By 2am, this was delivered! I ordered: 1. Half and Half Oriole Regular Tomato and Cheese Pizza - So when I order late night pizza, I don't expect it to be perfect..but I have 2 major gripes with this pizza: 1. This "half and half" tasted EXACTLY the same on both halfs...what exactly is half?? I don't understand. 2. The pizza was SO salty..that I made it through half the pizza and immediately started getting that funky feeling where you feel like the inside of your mouth is getting wrinkley, your tongue goes a little bit numb and you get SO effing thirsty..anyone know what I'm talking about? No? Maybe its just me.. 2. Mozzarella Sticks - salty salty salty. The cheese to cripsy-part ratio was off..it was just too much.. I KNOW you order Mozzarella sticks and late night pizza with lowered expectations and knowing it'd be on the salty side..but even with the lowered standard, I am definitely NOT a fan of this place.

An old-school pizza joint, subterranean and easy on the wallet. The smell of pizza is thick in the air, and the walls are festooned with menus and specials complemented with hand-drawn, busty women. The pizza is okay - the sauce and cheese are good but the fresh dough tastes a bit pasta-y to me. Nevertheless, you won't find a cheaper slice with this much character anywhere else in Mount Vernon.

I ordered cheesesteak sandwich here for lunch. It came with lettuce, tomatoes, and fried onions. The meat was really good. I couldn't really tell exactly what kind of meat was used, but it tasted pretty authentic to me. The toppings, especially the onions, added a lot. The roll was fresh too. It was a really good and fairly inexpensive sandwich. The inside only has like two tables. The two guys working there were really friendly.

During Artscape we stumbled across this place while waiting for an aerial performance to begin. They had the genius idea of setting up a pizza station out front and selling pizza by the slice. Why pay $6-10 for something at the concession stands when you can pay $1.50 for a slice of cheese? It wasn't bad either. Thin, similar to a New York style. Nothing I'd travel down to the city to seek out, but not bad for a slice on the streets of the city.

Ordering from Oriole Pizza is not appropriate for a date; don't bother ordering fancy pizza nor intricate subs. (Although their white pizza is good!) It is the perfect "it's late, I'm tipsy, need pizza delivered" joint. Or just "I'm tired & lazy." You know you have those moments, don't lie. Fast, friendly, easy. Stick to the basics. Don't expect gourmet. But be happy when your delivery driver gets there in under an hour with the right order, because he will. And enjoy that pizza. After all, it's a choice between Oriole's or Nino's late night, and while Nino's has great slices, Orioles tops them for a whole pizza. Just order it. You know you're hungry. And maybe a little tipsy, too...

Perfect for late night delivery. Fast, fresh & quick with friendly service. We were pleased with our pepperoni pie.

I ordered a simple XL cheese pizza at french fries online around 1:30 AM. Delivery stated that I would receive the order within 45-60 minutes. Not a big deal, I'll take a nap until they call me upon their arrival. I woke up at 3:45 AM to my phone ringing and the delivery guy telling me he is here. Are you kidding me??? Two hours later without a phone call!! Not surprised, but I asked the delivery guy what took so long. His answer, "Dude, it is what it is. I'm here now." The french fries were missing and he said to take it up with the owner. I opened the pizza and it looked like it was sitting around for a good half an hour. The cheese was hard and the pizza was cold. I'll stick to Papa Johns before giving this place another chance.

New to the city and took a leap of faith. The food was fast arriving for a Saturday night and the friendly delivery guy was refreshing. The pizza was crispy and delicious! The sub was good but was not "overstuffed" as advertised. If anything, it was understuffed but fresh ingredients all around!! Do it !!

    (5)
  • Al H.

They advertised and "Over stuffed cheese steak" but they are very stingy with the stuffing. I placed my order at 2pm and it didn't arrive until 4:16pm and when he finally arrived he expected me to walk out to him. NOT!!!!! Do yourselves a favor and order from anywhere else but them.

I do not have many good things to say about this joint except that it was one of the few spots open on Sunday after Thanksgiving. The service is lackluster. The decor is definitely dive-y, which I like, but there must be better joints around than Oriole Pizza. The pizza is pretty cheap and their subs looked affordable. I don't think I'd come here unless I was drunk and wanted something to absorb the beers or drinks I'd accumulated over the previous hours in the nearby Charles St bar scene. That's all I have to say.

Horrible delivery. I waited about an hour and a half through Eat 24. I don't recommend. My food was cold.

Ordered the shrimp sub the other night and promptly began throwing up two bites in. Never again.

The standard for cheap fast delivery pizza in Baltimore. No one is quicker. We once ordered pizza from these guys on our way home in Charles Village from Hampden. On New Years Eve. They were waiting for us at our doorstep when we got back. They're not fancy boutique style pizza. They're 3:30 in the morning, drunk, and craving greasy food pizza. And they're the best for that in the city, hands down.

My sister lives in Mount Vernon, so we stopped here after barhopping one night. Its a good late night greasy option. Certainly not the best pizza I've ever had, but pretty tasty. On the way back from Rock The Bells, I called to see their hours. Guy said they were closing in a few minutes, but if we wanted something he would make it and stay open a little bit longer. Nothing like 10 dollars worth of heavenly grease after sweating your ass off for 9 hours in the DC sun. P.S. Wu Tang Clan

The meal arrived promptly. We were excited. We were stoned. I opened the pizza box and discovered an unsliced pizza! Perhaps this is their standard procedure, but I find it hard to believe. When I was sitting across the room, I saw the pizza, sitting in the box, with what appeared to be an oasis in the middle. Nay, it was not an oasis, but a pool of grease. We actually were able to tilt the pizza, and a small grease pool gathered underneath it. Also, even though I specifically requested ranch dressing, they delivered two packets of Caesar dressing instead. It's really difficult eating hot wings with nothing to dip them in.

To grab a quick bite to eat, I made the error of ordering a gyro from here. It seemed overpriced for what I was handed and I've had better.

The place is kinda sketchy, but you probably weren't expecting much to begin with. I've only ever had the pizza by the slice, and it is very convenient if you just had a couple of drinks next door at Dionysus. Something about the cheese at this place, or maybe the quantity of the cheese and it sitting out for a while, gives it a slightly rubbery quality you might find either satisfying or nasty. I'm not so sure how tidy this place is, so you may want to stay away from pizza toppings that require careful handling. Unless you've had plenty to drink, then you're probably fine and won't notice.

Best late night food in the city. Open til 3 on the weekends, it's the perfect place to stop at before going home if you're in the Mt. Vernon area. As the previous review said, this isn't the type of place to get a salad. Here is where you get cheesesteaks, pizza and other greasy food. They have a pickup special of a full length sub, fries and can of soda for less than $5. As a plus, the guys who run the place are as amiable as can be. I stopped in once after having not been in a few months and they not only recognized me, but asked me where I've been the whole time.

This was the first time I ordered delivery from this place. The food was pretty good, they used WAY too much red onion though. Also, it took a little over an hour for them to deliver. Idk if that's bad or not, but I do know other places are faster. I'm not sure if it was the time of day, or if I happen to live a little farther away than most people, but whatever. I'd order from this place again, but I'd try some other entrees.

Three stars because the quality can really vary. I've gotten pepperoni and cheese pizzas there several times. The first few have been great: cheap, greasy, quickly available for takeout. The last time I ordered a pizza there the sauce was terrible, like it had overcooked and was starting to congeal. The dough was dense, not at all (relatively) fluffly like it had been in previous orders. I'm willing to give them one more shot though.

  • Kristi M.

Stick to the pizza! I've ordered from here a few times and was never impressed. I typically order the grilled chicken salad, but no matter how many times you ask for NO olives it arrives with plenty of olives. The reason for my one star rating comes from my most recent order of a turkey club, which they describe on the menu as "Lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on white toast served with chips and pickle." The soggy bread definitely was never toasted, half of the meat was ham and not turkey, and chips were nowhere to be found. I'm not expecting 5 star restaurant quality delivered to my door, but I generally expect to receive what I ordered. There are far too many other pizza joints nearby to waste your time with this one!

It's a craphole but probably one of the better cheesesteaks in Baltimore. Don't order salad here - silly me for doing so - vegetables are not their forte. Pizza is ok but I'd rather go to Ninos around the corner. As others have said, pros are that it's super cheap and open late. Nowhere to sit though so take it to go.

Good pizza for Baltimore. The sauce is strong on the garlic. It's not NYC- but then again, either is Baltimore.

  • Sarah Z.

I wish the delivery were quicker! The pizza I've had so far was delicious. It wasn't good for you, but it was cheesy, greasy and satisfying haha

  • Rich P.

For 'hole in the wall' pizza, it is surprisingly good... A little thick for NYC style... A little underbaked on the bottom occasionally but it's a conveyor oven and they bake on screens. Still a pretty good late night pie for not a lot of money. No slices but they have a 9" pie for like $5 which is easily like 2 slices or more.

    (3)
  • Jen T.

Why would you get a salad here? It's a hole-in-the-wall pizza place, and it's one of my favorites in the area. This is how quick pizza should be done. Super cheap, made right in front of your face, with cheese that's still stringy when you eat it. This is no premade crap, it's the jammer. I wouldn't say it is the best pizza i've ever tasted in my life, but it's the best for the price, and I keep going back. You can choose from 4 different sizes of pizzas (the smallest is just fine for one person with an average appetite), and they all come with at least a can of soda and one free topping. Did I mention how cheap it is? Don't get a salad.

    (5)
  • Christie S.

I can't honestly say how the pizza at this place is because I have never tried it. I did order a ceasar salad that was so over dressed it was almost inedible. The croutons and lettuce were so soggy I ended up throwing away the 3/4 of the salad. ew

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
