Eat here, be happy. Sushi was fresh and delicious, service was quick and attentive (like others have posted, the owner also greeted each customer personally), prices were fair, and did I mention the sushi was good? NOTE: Terminal B location is take out only. Go to A8 if you have time.

Long layover at Baltimore airport and needed some food to take on a long flight, and was feeling a bit chilly, so miso soup was the answer! Note: I first stopped by the other Gachi in the B terminal, and they had miso soup, but they did not have any bowls... so they wouldn't sell any. Huh. Thankfully I had time to take a little walk down to the A terminal (much bigger) location. Took two miso soups to go -- (duh) the one I had earlier was hot and tasty with a little bit of seaweed/tofu, totally hitting the spot. The second one I had was less awesome, but that's totally on me because I let it sit/cool off too long.

This place took me by surprise. I had some time before my flight so I sat down for a quick bite. GACHI is directly across from gate A9. I asked the waiter what the most popular item on the menu was and he suggested the Triple Delight. DING! The sushi roll came out and it was A-MAZING! Party in my mouth. It was fresh and the flavors blended together so well. I even debated buying another one. A+

I was really excited to find a highly regarded sushi restaurant on yelp when my flight was delayed at BWI. This will likely be my go-to restaurant when I'm in the airport, and so I really, really wanted to like it. First, service is rather lacking. It's slow and inattentive. You have to flag people down every time you want anything. The servers are kind though, and this probably just stems from the fact it's a busy airport joint. Second, I ordered the Georgetown Roll... nothing makes me sadder than when the spicy tuna in my sushi roll is pink tuna gunk rather than REAL spiced tuna. :( The peppered tuna on the outside was nothing to write home about either, and could have been more fresh. Finally, prices are a bit high for the quality and quantity. But again, airport food, so what can you expect? I'm hoping that I just ordered the wrong thing. Looking forward to visiting again and giving it another shot, this time staying about anything with spicy tuna in it.

This is my second time eating at Gachi, and it remains the best sushi I have had in the D.C. area. Airport setting aside, this place is very fresh, the sushi expertly executed, and it has excellent service. The owner is amazing - so friendly, never forgets a face! We look forward to our next trip here! (Get the triple delight!)

I'm not sure why I expected something great from airport sushi but I checked the reviews and it got high ratings. The sushi was ok but nothing to write home about. I got the BWI roll, it wasn't what I expected. The crab meat on top was warm and it didn't seem to go together with the roll. Only some of the pieces had it on top, the end pieces did not which I thought was kinda skimpy. Pretty small roll especially for $15. They are quick so that's a plus.

Second or third time here. It's located in the A concourse so it thankfully is not near the food court. This time we sat at the sushi bar. Service was friendly but not knowledgeable. However the kirin ichiban vane in a nice pint glass which was a good start. Everything tasted good altho some of it was either preprepared like the seaweed salad or needed to be microwaved or boiled from frozen. No matter. It was still good and head and shoulders above most airport food. The fish was fresh and delicious.

  • Elsa M.

For airport sushi, not so bad. I mean, not so good either, but it didn't make me sick, so that's a win. It also was the best of options outside of waiting in line at Obrycki's. I got the spicy tuna roll and a shrimp tempura roll. The shrimp tempura was marketably better than the spicy tuna. Definitely passable if the mood strikes you, but don't know that I was wowed enough to try it again.

Delicious sushi! I had the spicy salmon and avocado roll. Very quick and friendly! Will definitely eat here again.

Airport Food...talk about an oxymoron. For those of us who travel often for a living, we have become all too familiar with the lack of choices in most US airports. (Umm...I guess I'll have the chicken tenders and a diet coke please.) So imagine my surprise when I found Gachi at Baltimore-Washington Int'l Airport. Freshly-made sushi (Try the tuna tataki salad) and a cold Sapporo made my three hour delay fly by. I was so pleased with my first visit that the next time I was in BWI, I trekked from Terminal B to A just for another taste. Tip: The sushi bar seating has multiple power outlets underneath. Recharge yourself AND your phone. Yup, it's a two-fer!

If you have to be sitting in an airport, this is a great way to pass the time. There is an incredible breadth of Sushi made to order here. Service at the sit - down counter was swift, courteous. Watched my Spicy Shrimp Tempura Roll being made in front of me. Shrimp was added hot right out of broiler. Loved it.

LOOOOOOOOOVE this place. I work at the airport and it is so hard to resist spending a whole paycheck eating here multiple times a day.,... they are that yummy. I had the southwest roll with tempura shrimp, black and orange roe, jalapeno, and spicy sauce. My favorite dish is the veggie udon soup. A little kick to it. Yummy spinach, veggies, tofu and noodles. I still haven't found a fav sushi place in the city but there's always the airport. Love!

  • Sam Z.

Had the Southwest roll. Best sushi in an airport I have ever had. Pride in what they do is evident from the presentation to the quality. It was busy but service was just fine. Really polite servers and wonderfully fresh sushi. Don't miss it as you stroll through BWI. The sit down restaurant is in the A gates. They have a takeout in the B gates but I recommend the sit down experience.

Inexpensive, delicious sushi with wifi and electrical outlets for easy access to laptop and cellphone. The service is amazing here, and i loved the Georgetown sushi roll i ordered it twice. Definitely going to go there everytime i'm at the airport. They have a fan!

My Order: - Gachi salad PROS: - The most healthiest option inside that food court. Sushi, fruits, variety of drinks, salads, sandwiches, etc. - Quality of the salad was decent, fast checkout, and the employee was friendly CONS: - Everything is overpriced

Fresh, authentic and delicious sushi in an airport? Crazy huh? I thought so too until I tried Gachi House of Sushi -- on a whim actually -- and was blown away. Located across from Gate A9 at BWI Airport, this place doesn't disappoint. I've eaten here almost a dozen times and have always enjoyed my meal. The menu features a number of specialty rolls but they also offer shashimi and nigiri options along with Bento Boxes, soups, salads and rice bowls. I mostly stick with the rolls. My favorite used to be the Georgetown Roll (spicy tuna, crunchy black pepper tuna, avocado, orange caviar and mango purée) -- but recently they introduced the Southwest Roll and that is my new favorite! It's definitely spicy -- with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, avocado, jalepeno, tobika and spicy mayo -- but oh sooo good! Needless to say, each piece is a work of art as well. By the way, Gachi has a nice selection of single serve bottles of Sake. Just the right amount to go with your sushi. If you don't know what you want, they are more than happy to help you decide. Same goes for deciding what sushi to order. Prices are reasonable (it is in an airport!) and the Gachi folks are super nice. They remember folks who come by and great you with a "welcome back". Win the General Manager and his team will take good care of you! It's a great and delicious respite in a sea of desolate airport food. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed! PS--Gachi also stocks the concessions at the B concourse. Those are good, but nothing beats the freshly prepared options at the bar!

This review is for the freshly made sushi that you get for sitting at the bar. Very surprising to find such a great sushi joint at the airport! I come here every other week when I am flying out of BWI. It's located in the main Terminal A section. Everything I have tried on their menu has been delicious. The chefs behind the bar makes everything fresh to order. Very attentive service and friendly staff as well! Must tries: - Georgetown roll - Terp roll - Fresh spring roll If you are flying out of the Southwest terminal, I highly recommend trying this place for lunch or dinner.

This review is for the sit down counter at the gate A8 area. I eat here regularly, and find that the service is pretty quick and the rolls are very nice. If you have a few minutes, you can have them make you a roll, either to go, or to sit and eat at the counter. The counter has a bit of a bar vibe, with the TV tuned to sports and a nice selection of Asian beer. I've always liked their Mango Frushi roll. Fruity and different. The pre-made rolls in the case get pretty good turnover, so they are usually fresh if you are in a hurry. Definitely one of the best choices in BWI, and one of the better airport sushi places that I've found.

This sushi restaurant ranks as one of the best I have ever eaten at regardless that it is at an airport. My girlfriend and I had a quick layover from Los Angeles and were tired and hungry. What a gift to have found Budi, the Head Man there and fabulous chef, and this Sushi outlet. The Sashimi Deluxe platter had large slices of Salmon, Tuna, and Yellow Tail. All were extremely fresh and tasty. We ordered some bowls of white rice that Budi added some Ponzu and sesame seeds which really elevated the flavor. I cannot recommend this eatery any higher and urge anyone flying into the Southwest terminal to give yourself a treat. Also ask for Budi who is a gem in himself.

  • Adam W.

Can't give it 5 stars, but it's good! I had the Nigiri Deluxe and it was fresh, even at 9 in the morning.

  • Roll T.

3.25 stars. Slightly disappointing in light of the spectacular reviews but still far better than general airport fare. I would also like to try some of their specialty rolls on a subsequent visit. I was saddened that they advertise a breakfast sushi roll on their menu, but this morning they only had the same tepid selections you find anywhere else (California roll, Philly roll, spicy Tuna roll, salmon avacado). I went with the Philly roll which was somewhat solid but unfortunately contained precious little fish (maybe 7 to 10 percent of the roll). The fish itself was a bit mushy, but the rest of the roll was tightly wrapped and used fresh ingredients. Service was indifferent to mildly rude. If this was the pleasant owner others have mentioned in their reviews, she must have been having a case of the Mondays on a Tuesday. Prices were about standard for an airport (8 to 11 per roll). I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to eat super unhealthy crap in the airport, but keep your expectations modest. This is simpleton sushi prepared with expertise. Also, based on the mushiness of the fish, I wouldn't recommend any nigiri here unless your stomach is lined with all the precious metals.

Gachi House of Sushi Very welcoming staff. Spoke with the co-owner for majority of my meal. Down to earth individual, and great chef. The restaurant was clean and food was well presented. Its to bad you have to have a borading pass to eat here, well worthy of a outside the airport location. Highly recommend and if ever in BWI airport stop by.

I had always been intrigued by an airport sushi restaurant with over 4 stars so I tried it. Got the spicy crunchy tuna roll and the supreme roll (crab on the inside, eel and avocado on the outside with eel sauce and a little tobiko). Had this been a normal sushi restaurant I would probably give it 2 stars. The ingredients weren't great (the crab was real but probably canned or jarred), the rice was moderately overcooked, and I saw my eel get heated in something resembling an easy bake oven. Relative to other airport sushi, though, this was probably a 4 star experience. The menu was reasonably large (especially for the size of the kitchen), the rolls were made to order, and the spicy tuna was neither fishy nor slathered in spicy mayo. I can't speak to the other dishes but other people seemed satisfied. I compromised at 3 stars. The service was fast and competent. I'm glad I tried it but won't be back.

I was stuck in BWI for about 3 hours and needed a place to srop, Gachi caught my eye. The sushi was very good and i will definitely stop back here next time i fly throufh BWI. Fantastic sushi, great staff and good drinks. Highly recommend stopping here!

  • Ivan M.

Wow. The most attentive and personable staff I've met at any airport, and I've been to many. Chef's selection is fresh, and the menu is solid. I didn't expect much of airport sushi, but it satisfies completely. Try the oriole roll.

  • Corrie T.

As soon as we sat down the owner came over and gave us recommendations which were spot on. From the sparkling sake to the tako everything was delicious and fresh. We only wish we had more time to try more items on the menu during our layover. Great service and amazing food!

  • James C.

Not a fan if airport dining...but Gachi is most certainly worth the stop whenever there's time between flights at BWI. It's not fast food; it's a high-quality meal at a good price. The salmon and fish are prepared to perfection. The rice and noodle bowls are great. The staff actually cares that you get a good meal. Call me crazy, but this airport restaurant is actually one of my favorite Asian restaurants, and I'm pretty picky about my Asian food. I've been back a couple of times and recently met the owner/chef, an immigrant who learned his trade at the Four Seasons and Whole Foods. He has a great philosophy about getting every meal and every customer right. As a heavy traveler, I'm thrilled (and surprised) this level of care comes from a reasonably priced airport restaurant.

  • Gabe T.

It's a surprisingly good sushi bar for an airport. I was greeted by the owner/chef, Budi, who recommended I try one of the rolls with crab meat since I was in the Chesapeake Bay Area. So I appropriately ordered the Orioles roll, which had shrimp tempura, avocado, and spicy crab meat among its ingredients. Presentation was beautiful and it was tasty. Preparation was quick, and there are power outlets under the bar counter. Also, there is a large TV. I came back for lunch on the commute back home. And ordered the Georgetown roll (spicy tuna), which was not as good as the Orioles roll.

After missing my flight, I said "I really need some good sushi." Well, I searched yelp and Gachi popped up! Boy am I glad I found them. The 'Triple Delight' is the top seller and for good reason! It is Memorial Day weekend and Budi, the owner, gave the uniformed soldier his meal free. He absolutely earned my respect with that gesture. Make sure you go here when you visit BWI!

    (5)
  • Shelley L.

Fantastic sushi! Second time eating there in my travels through the BWI airport, the Triple Delight was so good that I took a copy of menu hoping my local sushi place can try to duplicate it! Budi the owner was such a great guy to talk to, the service is great!

  • Blake L.

As a resident of Indiana, I don't get much fresh sushi based on geography so I jumped at the chance try this modern sushi joint in the airport. I was in a hurry so I grabbed one of the preset spicy tuna and shrimp rolls and a couple packets of soy sauce and went to town on it. It was fresh and very well made. The sauce was light and had a great kick to it. I can't wait to head back though this terminal with a little more time to see what they can whip up in front of me.

    (5)
  • Amanda G.

Triple Delight was fresh and out of this world! Chardonnay was cold. Manager Budi was polite, considerate and went out of is way to make our toddler content! He offered us fresh fruit and water as we had been delayed. Waitstaff was prompt and professional. Prices comparable to what you would expect for fresh food in an airport.

I had a lot of time to kill before a late morning flight a few weeks ago and thought a little sushi-to-go would do the trick. I was encouraged to sit down and be taken care of and I am so glad I did. The co-owner, Budi, prepared a 3-course chef's choice meal for me; it was excellent and my meal was very reasonably priced. The sushi was as interesting and delicious as I have had anywhere - I couldn't believe I was sitting in an airport! The service I received was stellar - very friendly and sincere - and turned a boring layover into a lovely meal. I often travel through BWI and will be sure to grab a bite next time I'm there. Thanks, Budi, for taking such good care of me!

Wow! Airport food never tasted so good! Excellent excellent service! I hope I get laid over in Baltimore again...won't eat anywhere else.

The menu is full of creative twists on classic rolls, as well as entirely unique creations. The ingredients are fresh, the chefs are skilled, and every member of the staff was incredibly kind and attentive. As much as I love crab cakes and draft beer, Gachi is now my go-to spot for layovers at BWI.

  • Tom G.

Outstanding! Great food and service. Manager Budi is friendly and his staff prepares great fresh sushi. I highly recommend it next time you're in BWI terminal A.

Lovely! I was very impressed for an airport sushi place. The service was excellent as I asked for sushi that is more Japanese than American. I also asked for a different cut of it and they accommodated with a smile. I'd always go there when flying through BWI. I had the Georgetown roll and it was delicious

  • Nick M.

Just had a GREAT meal at Gachi! Chef was out of this world! Super cool guy, he sat down and talked with me for about an hour at the end of his shift. The food was excellent. Lots of classic well executed rolls and cuisine varying from Yakisoba to sashimi. The menu is also bursting full of innovative exotic rolls. All fish was cut with precision and the plates were well put together. I'm coming back here every time i fly through BWI.

Really loved this place! Just had the Georgetown Roll and a Sapporo, and this will not be the last time that I stop here while I'm at BWI. The proprietor is very friendly, and service was quick and great.

The experience was amazing! We went expecting a quick sushi roll and got a friendly, three course experience from budi which turned our long layover from terribly boring to a lot of fun! Will definitely return :)

Sushi was excellent by itself but the owner stopping and talking to us about where we came from and telling us about his other business adventures was priceless!! Great place to stop!!!

Airport prices actually get you a fresh, tasty meal with great service. Chesapeake roll is amazing, takes advantage of the fresh, sweet Maryland crab. Generous portions of fresh ginger and wasabi to boot.

  • Brad B.

Best airport food I've ever had (as a well traveled person), with fantastic sushi that I would recommend if it were a standalone restaurant. The service was great - they even gave us complimentary bottled water for the road!

  • mike l.

Despite what the info boards at the terminal say, this place is located at gate A8. They do have a to-go counter at B3 which they sell pre-made stuff, but that's it. Take it from me, I walked around terminals A & B twice trying to find it based on online reviews and info boards. Having said that, the food was decent. It wasn't your five-star type sushi joint, but it was decent enough for an airport. The wife and I made the decision to go here based on Yelp reviews--and then came to the realization as we sat down that people in the south probably have no idea what good sushi is.

    (3)
  • Chuck T.

If they moved any slower it would be dmv. Food is ok, though not really worth the airport markup.

    (1)
  • Chris H.

Does the mention of airport sushi make you nervous? Gachi will change that perception...hands down a delicious sushi bar that happens to be located in BWI (across from gate A9)...delicious, fresh and worth a stop on a layover.

  • Haj R.

Unfortunately not a pleasant experience at this place. A simple question of "what type of dressing comes with this salad?" became an argument with the cashier just because it was time to close and she wanted to go home. Customer service is lacking. I opted out of the purchase. Hopefully not all customers get this same treatment.

GACHI SUSHI is probably the best of all restaurant's inside Airport on the East Coast!! Hands down the best SUSHI ON THE COAST.

  • Meeyoung L.

Just had the best soup noodle dish at Gachi and had a great conversation with the owner Budi. When the weather gets cold, nothing like a great big bowl of soup to warm your soul. A great choice if your passing through the BWI airport. Wish I had a picture of the soup because it was truly one of the best I've had in a long time! I ordered the Seafood Udon Soup, but with the thinner Yalisoba noodles instead on recommendation from the chef. All the people there are super friendly and nice :)

First time reviewing an airport restaurant! This one is a "go". Great sushi, fast service. Everything is fresh and flavorful. It's actually worth planning your pre-flight time so that you have time to eat here. The only two reasons my rating is 4 rather than 5 stars: o You're eating in an airport terminal, for goodness sakes. Craziness all around, people rushing by, noisy. Definitely not a fine dining experience. o It's a teeny bit pricey. I had a totally delicious roll with unusual flavorings, and it was $13. But would I eat there again? Yes!

  • Brad G.

Gachi was a pleasant surprise on a delayed layover at BWI. The staff was extremely pleasant, service was fantastic and the food was a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale airport environment. I got the BWI roll and the Chicken Teriyaki bento box, and both were delicious. The Bento boxes are an absolute steal, and a great value. For around $16 you get Miso soup, California Roll, salad, three dumplings and a full chicken breast or salmon streak on a bed of rice. A ton of food for the price when compared to other airport options. I will certainly be back on my next layover.

I have eaten sushi all over the world, including many times in Japan. My wife is Japanese and she has taught me how to tell the quality of the fish as well as the sushi rice. I will go on record by saying that Gachi House of Sushi is perhaps one of the BEST places to get your sushi in the Baltimore area. The caveat is that it is at BWI airport beyond Southwest A Terminal security, so you need to be holding an airline ticket to get there. Lucky for me I am a frequent flyer. Once at Gachi, sit down at the real sushi bar and immerse yourself in the environment. You will practically feel as though you are in Japan. Try to get Budi (the owner) to take care of you. He is extremely personable and as he gets to know you, he will suggest dishes that he feels will be best for you. They have a great selection of rolls, as well as sashimi and sushi. Also, they have Orion beer, which is from Okinawa, and not easy to find in the states. I believe in Gachi so much that I could see actually buying some cheap airline tickets for my friends and family (for example to Cleveland) just to be able to get past security so we can have Budi take care of us. I will give away the tickets, but I will enjoying the best tin the area. Totally worth it! Enjoy Gachi and please let me know how your experience is here. I would love to hear your stories! Dave

Excellent! You won't believe you're in BWI. The quality of the sushi is excellent. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The menu has the most interesting and creative combinations. Budi, the GM, will see that you are happy. I only wish we didn't need a boarding pass to come to Gachi. Thanks Budi! Keep up the good work. I'll come see you --- on an empty stomach --- every time I come through BWI.

Seriously the best Sushi, chef and staff!! It's super fresh and high quality, you will not be disappointed! The staff is the most attentive and friendly. I am a business traveler and even if I am across the airport I have to stop. They remember me every time and the customers are friendly too! Which is nice during a long lay over! I just can't say enough good things about this place! It is so rare to find an owner/chef who is so talented and customer service oriented, and delivers a consistently good product...and all in an airport!

Whenever I have a layover at BWI, this is my go-to place for lunch or dinner. I know airport sushi sounds disgusting, but Gachi is a legitimate sushi bar. I've always made sure to sit at the actual bar for service, where they make the sushi fresh to order. They have plenty of sushi chefs behind the bar, and you never have to wait more than a few minutes after ordering. They've got some great specialty rolls, their fish is fresh, and the rice is sticky. Prices aren't the cheapest, but for airport food, they are very reasonable. Specialty rolls are all about $8-$12. While I've been sitting at the bar, I constantly see the staff replenishing the pre-made sushi at the counter, so if you're in a real rush, I wouldn't hesitate getting one of those rolls. The wait staff are also always very friendly, and it's easy to forget that you're in an airport for a few seconds. One thing to watch out for is occasionally they've been a little slow to notice that I've finished and bring me my check. If you're in a rush, try to get your check when they bring your food out, or just go straight to the cash register to pay. If this were a regular restaurant, I would probably give it 4 stars. However, given it's airport location and the fact that it's some of the best food I've found in BWI, I think it deserves a 5.

Needing a bite before "shipping up to Boston," we took the chance of getting airport sushi (imagine those two words in bold italics, ominous and threatening). Gachi is small, with 10 or so stools for counter service and several tables which were really just part of the larger food area. Everything was clean, the kitchen was open, and most of the seats were taken, which I took as a promising sign. Reaching past another patron to take an order card, I was greeted by rave reviews and a promise that I would love the food. Another promising sign that we were not making a mistake and would regret the next hour and a half as we were trapped in a tiny steel flying contraption. We ordered simply: an Orioles roll, spicy salmon w/avocado, and a chicken terryaki rice bowl. Everything was spot-on; I wish I had taken pictures because the food was beautifully presented and delicious. I HIGHLY recommend the Orioles roll. I wish the chicken terryaki had been cooked another minute, but only because I like my chicken slightly on the well-done side, not because of any kind of fear about its safety. Service was a mixed bag. The food was prompt, but I felt that order taking, and paying the bill were a little delayed. Otherwise, it was a great experience and I'll probably eat there if I'm in in BWI-Terminal A again.

This place would probably get three stars anywhere else, but I was so grateful to get reasonably-priced, healthy food in an airport -- and it was quick, too! The rolls are pre-prepared but looked very fresh; I chose California, which was about $8 for ten good-sized rolls. As the cashier was ringing me up, I looked behind her: "Is that sake?" She smiled. "Yes. Would you like some?" Would I ever! I can't remember seeing alcohol to go in the airport before, and it was the perfect antidote to having been recently degraded, humiliated and stressed out by the TSA, along with the rest of the harried passengers in the airport. Also reasonably priced at $10 for a half-liter bottle. She only had oversized styrofoam cups, so we asked for extra plastic cups on the plane. It was nice to enjoy a fresh, delicious snack, instead of stale peanuts and soda, during the flight. We sipped away the sting of having to remove our shoes, throw away our sunscreen and pose, hands in the air, for semi-nude photos. Check it out the next time you have to fly from Baltimore, and you might just arrive in a better mood!

Really awesome udon noodle soup. Also very pleasant manager, Budi, with great conversation. Can't wait to travel through BWI to visit concourse A for a quick sushi fix and to say "how y'all doin?"

Found Gachi on my 1st layover in Baltimore, now I make sure I stop thru on the way back to Hartford. Great Sushi. I don't remember what I ordered, some kind of sampler, but it was generous, 19 bucks and I had a $9 sapporo with it. They make it right in front of you and its FRESH, surprised the tail wasn't still flappin. This is the Gachi by the SWA gates, I think theres another one in the BWI terminal as well. Stop here won't be disappointed, Friendly staff, great sushi, cold beer. Take out cooler there too, and all fresh. Don't miss your plane!

Oh my god! How is such an amazing sushi place in an airport? I ignored this place the first time I saw it because airport sushi scared me but after reading reviews I decided to try this. It was simply awesome. The owner is really fun to talk to and he has regulars. That is just crazy for me to think of. The cuts of fish and the rice quality is no joke. The price is a little high but I will gladly pay it for good sushi while on the road. Thanks Budi for having such an awesome place, when I travel here you are a great light at the end of the tunnel.

This is a gem of a restaurant, and in an airport, no less! I never would have thought you could get good sushi in an airport restaurant, until now! I was with three other girlfriends, on a girls' trip to Kennebunkport. We were coming from the southwestern part of the US, so our layover was at BWI both ways, and we ate here on both routes. The service was outstanding on the first visit, and was made even better on the second visit, where Budi (the manager/owner) waited on us. For the four of us, we ordered a combination of different platters and nothing disappointed us (as a group, we liked the ceviche the best). For beverages, we covered all bases with one of us ordering sake, one ordering wine, one ordering beer, and the other ordering soda. Everything is priced reasonably and sized generously. This was, by far, one of the best meals I've ever had in an airport, and that includes domestic and international terminals. I may never get to Kennebunkport again, but if I pass through BWI again, I will definitely have a meal here. A very pleasant and unexpected surprise that put a proverbial spring into the step of our travels!

4 and 1/2 stars? Really? Do you Know Japanese food? The sushi was fair in terms of freshness, but only when I specifically asked for something to be made fresh, rather than accept the premade portions sitting in the display case that the hostess was pushing me towards. Also of note is that the rice is not the freshest. In some of my rolls the rice was actually mushy. The best part of eating here (or taking out) is the portion size for the dollar. I paid $8.99 plus tax for a rather large spicy tuna roll (10 slim pieces). That's a pretty good price, especially when considering you are eating at an airport. The restaurant is by gate A8, and if you don't walk past the long food court line in the closer portion of the complex, you would never know it was here. I wasn't in the mood for the typical fast food offerings, including a McDonald's, but I didn't see the sign for Gachi until I went as far as the escalator back towards the gates. Overall, I would recommend it, but just be sure to ask for the fresh stuff. ;)

Very good and reasonbly priced for being in an airport. About $12 dollars for spicey crunch roll and a bottled water.

Boy oh boy were we happy to find Gachi! Everything upstairs was closing & we wandered, dejectedly to our gate & discovered Gachi! And they were willing to make us a couple of rolls! With a smile! Everything was fresh & delicious & as I said, the servers were very pleasant & accommodating. A nice treat for weary travelers!

The specialty rolls are delicious. As I worked at the BWI airport, I feel very fortunate to be able to try the varieties of Chef Selections. My favourite is BWI roll. The topping - which is mix of lump crab meat and chef's special sauces is really tasty. I definitely would like to try more varieties in the near future. Thanks GACHI for coming to BWI Airport.

Take a chance on an airport sushi stand? Oh yes I did. I had the noodle bowl with seafood. Good flavor and spicy (he reached for the sriracha bottle twice), but I was unhappily surprised to find the shrimp was breaded and fried. Besides being unexpected, it was soggy from the broth (as one would definitely expect). Everyone around me was raving about their food and it all looked really good (mostly rolls). The staff was super friendly. My dish was only $10; which I would have had to pay for the prepackaged sandwich next door. I gave this place 4 stars because I would definitely go back and try again, but don't order the noodle bowl with seafood.

What a wonderful concept. All of their menu offerings are absolutely delicious. The pairing of the freshest ocean catches and light field greens makes for a culinary concert that has me singing every time I dine there! The chef's there know their craft well, serving very healthy delicacies with bright sauces and fresh fruit as accents. It is obvious they take great care in every detail. Not only is this place striking visually, it is also super clean. Crazy, that this is in an airport kiosk, it really should be a full blown restaurant. Encore!!!!

Fantastic Sushi! I had the Miso Soup, and the Georgetown Roll, also fantastic. The owner, Budi, is pretty cool. He saw me eating my myself since I was waiting for flight and pretty much chatted with me for like 15 minutes. Check out their breakfast options too!

Been looking for this place on my previous visits at BWI Airport. Finally, I got a chance to enjoy the food on Monday evening. Previously recommended by a friend, I must say he was correct. I was thoroughly impressed. The place is not big, yet it has a beautiful bar. Too bad there were only 9 stools available. It was fairly competitive finding seating at the bar. Gachi also provides sushi to go for quick travelers which were displayed neatly on the sushi display. Their sushi boxes were really appealing!!! The colors were so eye catching. I believe they made them fresh. I saw 5 chefs in front of me all busy rolling the sushi. I came during dinner time, so it happened there was no stool available at their bar. I decided to sit in the food court area which was very close to Gachi. I asked the cashier for her recommendation, and purchased Georgetown Roll as she suggested. She questioned me if that would be for to go, and I said I would actually rather have it for here. Since no stool was available, I told her that I would sit in the food court area instead. After couple minutes, the staff brought over my order. To my surprise, the food was placed on a beautiful fine-dining-style plate, beautifully presented, and it was so delish! What else should I say? The food and the service were top notch! Will definitely be back on my next trip!

Okay for an airport restaurant. I've been here twice. It is abetted option than the typical airport fast food, but nothing to be excited about. The fare in the "to go" case is the usual California, salmon, or tuna rolls.

I would definitely recommend stopping by here if you're in the BWI Airport! Their fresh sushi is worth it! Go go go go!

Best thing that has happened to BWI. Fresh sushi at a relaxing sushi bar. They have added some new rolls and chefs choice that really fill out the menu!

No question one of the most authentic sushi I have had since my last visit back home in Tokyo. Excellent service and great knowledge in the sushi world. Kudos to Chef Selection .... Will definitely be back with my family....

Great alternative to usual airport fare. Sat at the bar and had a wonderful lunch of several fresh-made rolls. Can't vouch for the "to-go" offerings but was told they were made daily. Prices were on par for rolls but I thought the alcohol was high ($7 for teeny bottle of so-so Chardonnay; $7.50 for bottle of Kieran,) Food-wise, it's worth a trip from B terminal just to eat here.

Superb value for awesome food. A raleigh native makes it big here in the heart of the airport. I would seek this place out even if it was in my neighborhood. You won't be disappointed!

Yummy! Some of the freshest sushi I've every had! What a great find in the airport. Good selection of rolls to go. If you have some time, have a seat and order a roll, you won't regret it. It's always a little concerning to get sushi while travelling, in case it isn't that great, but at Gachi, it's amazing! I wish I could get their sushi when NOT travelling through BWI, but at least now I have something to look forward to when I travel. If you are feeling adventurous, try the frushi roll- it has an amazing mango sauce with some kiwi, adding a special flavor.

Wow! Was really impressed with this place! I stopped by today with my uncle after having some time before a flight. They had grab and go style counter if you're in a rush but we had time so we decided to grab a seat at the bar. They treated us like royalty! Really great service and genuinely friendly staff. I tried the Maguro Tower, Ceviche trio, and bwi roll. The maguro tower was my favorite! Nice portion of spicy tuna , that really melted in your mouth! Over white rice with asian greens, paper thin avacado, roe and a drizzled brown sauce that was the perfect compliment The Ceviche trio was a three different, sort of mini Asian salads with salmon and two types of tuna. Another great dish! The dish was topped with kiwi, grape tomato, and a sprinkle of caviar all over tasty white rice with a rice vinegar based dressing that really brought out the fresh and yummy flavor of the fish. The BWI roll was a tempura shrimp roll with orange roe and lump crab meat on top. Very fresh and delicious! I live in the baltimore area and frequent Sushi Sono, Sushi king, sushi hana and various others and this was right there with them, if not better! Felt more like a pricey sushi bar in manhattan than in an airport! Must try if you are at BWI and jonesing for some fresh and creative sushi!

I have been traveling through BWI each of the last 8 weeks. I can tell you that I plan extra time on my get away days to eat dinner here before I get on my plane. The staff is great! And the food is very good. The trio of ceviche is excellent and the miso soup is the best I have had. I also like the salmon and avocado roll and spicy Tuna. Also a must for dessert is the chilled plum wine. The staff also gives great suggestions on new things to try. That is how I found the ceviche and plum wine. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. The best sushi in Baltimore is at the airport.
