Stopped in here on my way to the library. I was so glad I did. I got a Turkey Reuben and man was it delicious. It was a really nice simple place to enjoy my sandwich and read my book. A lot of people near me were having breakfast platters and they looked really good too, I will definitely have to make my way up here for breakfast one weekend. This was everything you expect from a small local deli, I will definitely be back.

Meh. Ordered a tuna melt special asked the counter person for it to be on seedless rye. Then I noticed she didn't write it on the ticket. Double checked with her and she said sure thing. Food arrived on seeded rye. Oy. Sent it back and they fixed it. Except of course for the missing chips that are supposed to come with it. This was on a Friday at 2pm - no crowd, lots of staff.

Great place to get your tasty omelet on. Lots of choices and great prices. The service makes me feel like I'm having breakfast at my awesome aunt's house, who loves to spoil me with freshly made coffee, fruit juices, and shakes. I'll come visit as many times as I can while I'm in Baltimore.

Two words - good and cheap! One word - Go! If you're into decor atmosphere etc ummmm, you may be disappointed. HOWEVER, refer to first two comments above...

Love the feel of the place. I had the mushroom swiss burger. Burger was decent could have used a little more seasoning but was cooked perfectly. Fries were very fresh and tasted great. Plus the price of 5.95 was very nice. The lasagna was the special and after seeing it I wish I had gotten that. All in all very good food, great atmosphere, and great prices.

Walking through the door I said "wow" this is a nice set up. The place was decorated very nicely and the atmosphere is very laid back. I noticed the attractive menu/price displays you know the ones with the chalk boards with the pretty colors yeah those. I looked around at what others was ordering and i seen alot of vegetarian dishes. but i was feeling carnivorous this day and so being i ordered the chicken steak sub. They had my order in about 12min flat, i was shocked at how fast it was. Then the nice guy behind the counter said "55 number 55 your order is ready" i was like o' yeah until he looked at it and discovered there was a steak sub inside with american cheese on it. He said don't worry i'll have them fix you a chicken steak sub, then i replied never mind i will take that and a lemonade ice tea mix ... just to find out once i get back to work i had a chopped up steak-um and a bitter powder mix drink ... atmosphere nice, food HORRIBLE !

Good food at very reasonable prices! I would eat here everyday I think. The people get to know you really fast and are very friendly!

Best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The croissants are fresh and delicious! The service is always equally pleasing, everyone smiling and busily working. Fresh fruit smoothies, espresso drinks & lunch are also all reasonably priced. Love this place!

Stopped by for a quick bite. Got breakfast sandwiches. The first was a biscuit, ham, egg, and cheese which was excellent. It was the biscuit that stood out, it was fluffy and moist. Also got one with a croissant, also good. Would definitely recommend trying any breakfast sandwich with the biscuit. Also got the home fries. They were good, but they were pretty soft and almost mushy (cannot think of a better way to describe it) Overall good breakfast experience. Would go back again.

Pretty solid deli with lots of choices and great value. 3.5 for food, bumped up to 4 for the value, and friendly service. I've only been here once and got the sausage and gravy special as well as a coffee. I can't comment on the other choices unfortunately. Home fries were well...fried. crispy and browned on the edges, well seasoned. (My pet peeve is under seasoned potatoes). Sausage, gravy, and biscuits were above average, but nothing super special. But at 5.95, it's speeeecial. OVERALL: I would come back to try some of there other breakfast and lunch sandwiches, so many to choose from at a very reasonable price. Coffee isn't bad either.

I have been here for breakfast and lunch and both times I went I was pretty satisfied. This place isn't too far from work so I usually call my order in before I go. Both times ive been its been a pretty quick pick up process, the hardest part is finding a parking spot depending on the time of day. The area its in is all street parking so I usually have to park and walk a block or two back to the place. When I ordered breakfast it was a pretty simple french toast/egg dish so nothing special but it was pretty tasty. I went back for lunch because I remembered how good their coffee was and really was craving some mid morning. This time I got a burger and fries expecting it to just be OK but it was really good! Though they didn't ask me how I liked my burger cooked it was done perfectly. I even opted for a dessert, this time i tried the banana pudding but I think i may be spoiled to my grandma pudding because theirs didn't satisfy my craving. Next time I'll have to try one of their cakes because they all looked so delicious in the display case.

I really enjoyed my breakfast platter of pancakes, eggs, and sausage (all for just 4.95!). I was impressed by the large menu selection; they even have smoothies, burgers, grilled cheese, cheesesteak, gyro, and sweets like brownies, cookies, and banana pudding. The buttermilk biscuits looked really good.. maybe I'll get a breakfast sandwich next time. There are a few seats in the front, and a ton more tables in the back. Order at the front, they'll bring the food to your seat, and bring the check to the counter to pay at the end. They're only open for breakfast and lunch, so check the hours.

While the ordering process can be a little confusing for a first time customer, the service was excellent!! It was wonderful to be able to just get a $5 grilled ham and cheese with carrots and a fountain soda. I felt like I was having lunch at my Mom's house! I brought my friend from France and it was just another example of how welcoming and down to earth Baltimore can be!

Shockingly low-priced breakfast for this area of town. And quite delicious, at that. We've been wanting to come here for some time, but the barrier was that they hadn't been open on weekends - well, not until now, anyway. We were pretty hungry this past Saturday morning, and we were going to wait for another place to open for breakfast, but we Yelped and saw that D&D's was open. Yeah, this was on our bucket list, as I recall, so we took a walk up there, and we're both glad that we did. I ordered a #3 breakfast special - two eggs, potatoes, sausage patty and toast, while Sweet Husband Mine decided on a short stack of pancakes and bacon. Oh, and coffee. Lots and lots and lots of coffee. The counter folks were really nice, greeting us as if we were old friends. I immediately felt at home. Oh, did I mention that the food was delicious? I didn't? Our orders were cooked to perfection, just the way we wanted them done. Now, the breakfast itself isn't really remarkable - it's eggs and toast and pancakes. Kind of hard to make them stand out, especially. But the coffee was sublime. Oh, man. Try the hazelnut. Sub.... lime. Our breakfast was only 14 dollars for two - now if that's not a bargain in usually overpriced downtown Baltimore, what is? We just might have to make David and Dad's a habit on Saturday mornings from now on. Definitely give this place a shout. Recommended.

OK, so i am definitely coming back to this sweet, lovely deli. Not only did i come in here for a quick smoothy and plan to leave, but then my surgery that I Was supposed to be covering got pushed about....5 hours! I had already checked out of my hotel and i had no where to go. This wonderful cafe has free high speed wifi (i started watching Orange is the New Black) but no one bothered me or even asked if i was going to buy anything else after about 3 hours! NOT TO MENTION THE ORDERING PROCESS! This place first will make your food, bring it out to you and then before you leave you pay for your meal, drink or whatever. In the North, this kind of hospitatlity is not seen very often and i was pleasantly surprised and impressed. These things were both the case for my smoothy and three hours later, my lunch. Go here. You will not regret it. Oh, their food. Amazing, you can taste the fresh ingredients and the "make your own" wraps and sandwiches with a side of baby carrots (if you opt out of pretzels or chips) is great too.

Don't ya just love supporting local business? Especially when it's a family one! After a grueling but satisfying class at Pop Physique, I stopped over to David and Dads across the street for a light meal. I liked the fact that there were several veg options available on the menu in all forms of offered meal selection (wraps, paninis, specialty sandwiches) and they are priced very reasonably! I ordered a powerhouse and paid under $5 and it came with chips. Stop in for quick bite if you're in the area, especially if you just came from a Barre class and need to refuel.

Yum homemade chicken pot pie! I don't care that it was almost 90 degrees that day. I can never say no to that. Plus rootbeer. What a gem in the middle of corporate Baltimore. Thank goodness I don't work there regularly or I'd go to this place far too often! That being said, I wish I was closer so I could try their other options!

  • Asysha H.

This is great neighborhood spot for good, quick, fresh breakfast or lunch. The only reason why this doesn't get 5 stars is because the coffee gets cold quick. But if you are in the area, this is by far the best place. AND the people that work there, specifically the lady with the dreads that works behind the counter, is a gem. She is always greeting customers and creating a welcoming and warm environment.

I love this place! Food is delicious and fresh! I get something different every time I go and I'm always very pleased. Love the atmosphere, friendly staff, and ordering is quick and easy.

If you want breakfast come before 10:30. They shut down most of the breakfast options after. I showed up right on the cusp and they said they could still make it for me then after a few minutes they changed their mind, told me they couldn't, and made me change my order. In addition I wasn't that impressed with the food/drink options available.

*Baltimore Eats* *Yelp 365 Challenge x 2 #195/365* First day of class back in the early part of February was THE day that there was a celebration parade for the Baltimore Ravens because they won the Superbowl. The academy decided to give us an early lunch because the streets were going o be crowded. Anyhow, we were still unfamiliar with the area, so we walked up Charles Street and noticed David and Dad's Café next to Caribou Coffee! I can't remember what my co-workers ordered but I remember what I ordered because it was delicious! I ordered their Chicken Chipotle Panini! Just think...grilled chicken, melting cheddar cheese, tomato and their version of "chipotle mayo" on grilled Italian bread! The chips that I chose? Meh.... but it didn't matter to me because I was focused on the panini :) It's a small café that's in the heart of downtown and they also have a breakfast menu. Another great thing of this café is the location because you can grab a cup of coffee at Caribou next door and walk right next door to this cafe to order one of their breakfast or lunch items. The price? Not bad. Recommend: If you're craving for panini sandwiches for lunch? Consider this café if you're tired of Subway!

This place is good for very basic breakfasts. It reminds of me of meals I could prepare at home and the prices are reasonable. Good if you are out of food at home or don't feel like cooking.

Good food, friendly service. However, was disappointed that I couldn't order one of their 4 breakfast platters at 10:30 am. If you want traditional breakfast, I suggest to go early before they start prepping catering orders.

I read about this place on here and I decided to try it. Man, what a great decision!!! I ordered the cinnamon French toast with a lovely sausage patty and eggs. Everything was so tasty; including the coffee! The price was perfect. But the best part? The customer service! this was my first time going there, but all the staff treated me as if I was a regular. I felt like part of a family gathering. Everyone was so helpful. I don't have enough vision to read the menu, but they laid out all the choice is clear to me. The only downside is that I am only visiting Baltimore for the summer, and I won't be able to go here on a regular basis.

Absolutely amazing! The service was great everyone was friendly, no other breakfast shop like it. The food was was soooo good I can't wait till I come back next weekend for breakfast. This is definitely my new breakfast spot!

Love this deli, but everytime I order for pickup or delivery SOMETHING is missing. Whether its the bag of chips or the added cheese to a sandwich.... I'm tired of paying for non-existent chips and cheese! Thought I would give it another try. Stood for 20 minutes waiting for the order to go.... at 11:30 am when there was maybe 2 other singular customers. My sub apparently sat while the fries were being made. I ordered the special, Cheese steak and fries.. the fries were great, the sub was cold, the cheese had hardened, the edges of the meat turning dark from the sit. Oh and tomatoes when I didn't ask for them. I will continue my walk for lunch a block south to Purple Pizza! Friendly, fast, delicious!

Cute deli in the Mt Vernon area of Baltimore. We stayed at a hotel just a few blocks away. The hotel food was not great so we came here instead. There's a lot of space here and the staff were extremely friendly. You order your food, grab drinks, etc. and go to your table. They bring the food out to you and when you're done, you just go to the cashier to tell them what you had. Really laid back and they trust that you tell them what you ate/drank. You don't find a lot of places like this anymore, especially in larger cities. They're not open on the weekends unfortunately.

On the morning of April 3, my family woke up in Baltimore, at a hotel just a few blocks north of David and Dad's. We'd never been to Baltimore before, and on our walk to the Inner Harbor, we just happened to walk past this cafe. It was breakfast time, and the sign attracted us so we stopped in. We ordered a #3 (2 eggs, toast, home fries & choice of bacon/sausage/scrapple) and a #5 (three buttermilk pancakes and choice of meat) which was plenty of food for me, my husband, and our 6 year old son to split, and a bottle of Tropicana OJ and paid $12.47. The food was delicious! The staff was very friendly and I enjoyed the eat first/pay later system, which made it feel less like a breakfast-to-go system. We liked it so much that we stopped in our second morning in Baltimore as well and ordered the same thing. Very good. We saw they do a good lot of business catering as they were making lots of trays of goods to be picked up or delivered - want to make sure everyone knows you can stop in and get a wonderful breakfast or lunch, and they have a full custom drink menu (coffees, teas, smoothies) as well! Thank you David and Dad's!

Honestly this joint is just a one star kind of place. The waffles tasted like those out of a box mix and the "gyro" I ordered tasted like processed meat. The restaurant was clean and the staff was somewhat friendly, but the bad food was just off putting. You'd have a better experience at IHOP, or even Waffle House.

  • Smita D.

I am constantly impressed with this place. It's really good for breakfast and lunch, and I think they have recently extended their schedule to serve dinner too. You can get some great breakfast sandwiches, waffles, deli sandwiches, and burgers, and the portions are big. They have really amazing smoothies too. Everything I've had here has been delicious and i highly recommend their specials. not to mention, the price is very reasonable! The service is fast and the staff are incredibly nice ( I feel like I'm in the Midwest again!). Will definitely be back again!

Super cute and for sure I'll be back - cozy and comfortable, a great menu, and WIFI. We didn't actually order - just popped our heads in to check out the scene, but by the looks of the clientele, and the atmosphere - for sure this place is a standard. Will definitely be back for munchies :oD

  • Marcie P.

This place has a ton of loyal patrons, most of whom are people who work nearby and need a quick hot lunch. D&D's knows that their dining crowd has a limited amount of time to eat and are very efficient, I give them that. And the variety of menu options is attractive. It's hard to find a seat during the Noon hour. So why the low rating? I just can't get excited about the food. None of it is very good. In fact, it all reminds me of the heavily-processed, low-quality stuff my school cafeteria used to serve, only it's more overpriced. Even the coffee tastes like cheap brown water.

  • Heather G.

What a great little coffee shop. I am giving them only 4 stars because this is the first time I have been here but will definitely not be the last. The cafe is open Monday thru Saturday and offers a wide variety of espresso drinks, some coffee and even does smoothies and frozen drinks. The options for smoothies and frozen drinks are more limited than the hot espresso drinks but very tasty. I had a frozen caramel latte and OMG it is one of the best frozen drink I have ever tasted. This is going to be a dangerous place for me since I only work a couple doors down from here the definitely have a new regular. The service was fantastic the person behind the counter was very friendly and energetic but was patiently waited and happily told me what they have on their menu and that she could pretty much make a drink anyway I liked it as long as they had the flavor in stock that I wanted. The customer service here is really some of the best I have seen in a long time. Not the phony how can I help you you're wasting my time attitude but a genuine smile and helpfulness that you don't really see all that often anymore. The prices here are about average no more or less than any of the other fancy coffee stores the thing that sets them apart is the friendly staff who are kind and courteous no matter what they are in the middle of doing. Every customer gets undivided attention. Can't wait to go back and try some of the sandwiches which are made at the restaurant (David and Dad's on Charles Street) and delivered to the store daily early in the am.

Homemade Chicken and rice soup, tasty bagels and a friendly atmosphere make this little hole-in-the wall a welcome stop-over when I am forced to spend the work day in Baltimore. On my visit, the crowd was friendly, comfortable, and local. David & Dads gives off the distinct feel of a warm and inviting local deli and delivered a admirable quality product at fair price. I'd come back for chicken noodle soup, over-sized sandwiches, and to have my "usual" waiting for me when I walk in. The next time I find myself in Baltimore and in need of some mid-day sustenance, count me in.

This little gem is tucked away in the Mt. Vernon area of Baltimore. The breakfast was wonderful...my man had a Greek Omelet which was REALLY amazing and I had the pancakes. They were light and fluffy and hot, probably some of the best pancakes I ever ate. The staff was friendly, the food got out fast, and the prices were very reasonable. We paid about $12 for two for breakfast, including coffee. A must go-to in Baltimore!!

As I've mentioned before, I was in town exploring my future neighborhood as I will be living in Mt. Vernon shortly. This morning while meandering around Charles St. when I happened upon David and Dad's and I must say I'm glad I decided to give it a try. The people working the counter are beyond friendly. When I went to order my food and tried to order a drink to go with it. I was stopped and told to "Take what I want. We're on the honor system." (Clarification - You order, you eat, then you pay) What!?! Unheard of in Cincinnati, friendly but ballsy. I got French toast, bacon, and coffee for six dollars. A steal I tell you! And the food is brought to you hot and tasty. Nice hot, strong, tasty coffee as well. Kudos David and Dad's. I am moving into the neighborhood in 2 months and you now have yourself a regular. Hope you don't mind

Good lunch spot in Baltimore. Quick service and good food. They make a mean burger, pulled pork sandwich, and chicken pot pie. They have a killer brownie selection too. I'm curious to try breakfast there as well since they've got a large menu. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for something other than Subway or your normal sandwich spot. It's really tasty.

I come here fairly often for breakfast. Food is ok. Nothing special. Prices are reasonable but could be lower. Nothing really sticks out about the place. The staff is mostly friendly but there is an older lady that works there that looks pissed everytime I walk in. Whats her deal?

Quick and easy place to grab a quick lunch or breakfast. Typical no frills deli and grill fare made with care and good quality ingredients. I stop in there several times a month for a quick deli sandwich or grill item. On Thursdays they have Chicken Pot Pies that are savory, warm and tasty. The staff is always efficient friendly and seem to care about what they are doing and the food they serve. Nice to see a constantly managed low price food joint with high standards.

GREAT BREAKFAST! Simple food well prepared and reasonably priced, and a very welcoming and helpful staff. I had simple two eggs (perfectly over easy), potatoes (succulent golden chunks), and toast. Even staff who had not served me spoke and made me feel like part of the family.
