Super convenient location. Had the palace combo. The chicken kabob was flavorful but incredibly dry. The beef kabob was moist but underseasoned. The rice was good. The veggie samosa was fabulous. Overall, the kabobs were fine but I wouldn't seek this place out because they just weren't great.

Pretty solid chicken kabobs. No atmosphere - def a take out joint.

This place fills a missing niche in the Federal Hill neighborhood. My GF and I were excited to check it out on its Grand Opening, and we are pleased to see that this place had a steady stream of customers coming in. The food is excellent. I ordered the lamb kabob ($9.99) which came with a side of basmati rice, chick peas, and naan. The lamb was marinated well and very flavorful. It was a little drier than I prefer however the marinated meat definitely shined through. The basmati rice (higher quality of rice) was buttery and salted well. The chick peas were also surprisingly really good---had a home-made flare. Oh, and the cilantro sauce (see pic) was one of the better sauces I have had in a while. Perhaps since it was opening night service was off and it was a bit disorganized, but hopefully they will smooth things out in the future. So glad this place is good for it will definitely satiate my frequent carnivorous kabob cravings.

Terrible, took two hours for a delivery and the food was stone cold. When I called to complain, they hung up on me. Do yourself a favor and order from ANY other place.

Awesome food. Cross Street Kabob House was good enough to make me dust off my Yelp account -- and I'm lazy! The food is excellent. We tried the chicken kabob, spinach and potato, chick peas, samosas, and cauliflower dish. Everything was very flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The kabobs take some time because they actually cook them when ordered but it was definitely worth the wait! This seems to be a family owned business we talked to the owner and cook (I seriously thanked the cook, go eat there NOW) were happy to chat. I've seen other reviews that say cash only but they do take credit cards now. They also deliver and are open to 3am Thurs-Saturday. And they also have free Wi-Fi so you can enjoy lunch while getting in some work! The owners are Pakistani and their menu says the food is Halal. A fantastic addition to the neighborhood!

Great deal, got a ton of food for not very much. Pretty large menu.

I ordered delivery of Eat24 and the beef kabob that i ordered was succulent, and spicy. I chowed it down with the rice and sides that it came with. I will order it again, great thing that they deliver so i dont have to haul my self to Fed Hill to go get it. The delivery came within the allotted time frame.

(10/12/2013) Needed a later night meal before heading to hear some music at Mum's. Cross Street Kabob is conveniently located in the Market area on one of the main drags. We were a party of 6 and ate in, maybe overwhelmed the line a little, they seem to be primarily a carryout. Our food came out together and soon enough though. Cuisine is likely Indian/Pakistani. Entree platters are served with steamed basmati flavored with cumin seed, small chopped salad of romaine and tomato, your choice of side of hummus (smooth, nutty, thin) or chana masala (stewed chickpeas, tender, sweet, slightly underseasoned). Chicken Tikka was tender chunks, distressingly familiar bright orange-pink yogurt marinated breast. Lamb Tikka were large, well-seasoned, very tasty, but very difficult to eat chunks of lamb (chewy); we needed a more serious cutting implement to get through the chunks. Falafels were small, uniformly round, dense (likely a frozen product). Meat Samosas were stuffed with ground chicken and chickpeas, well-seasoned, wrapped in what looked like Chinese spring roll wrappers. Get every sauce they have; the garlic yogurt has a nice spicy kick, the tahini is nutty and complements everything, the hot sauce is not that hot, but tasty. An add-on slice of cheese pizza was nothing to write home about, stick with the kabobs. Overall, good value for tasty food. Bonus: open late night (serves until 2:45 am).

We got takeout from this place and the food was just ok. The lamb and chicken gyro was the best but the seekh kabob pizza was mediocre and the samosa chaat was below average. It was missing all the key chutneys and tasted like chickpeas and yogurt. To do its food justice, we might have to go in.

  • Michelle B.

They messed up my order and I didn't even care because everything was so delicious. I asked for samosas, got potatoes and peas instead but YUM! The Tikka kabob is delicious and tender and flavorful and the naan is some of the best I've had. I ordered on Eat24 so that may be why my order had issues but I picked up the food within 15 minutes (at noon on a Friday!) so I was still a perfectly happy camper.

I have been a regular patron of this restaurant, until now. In the past 4 months, I have placed several hundred dollars of orders to them, regularly ordering 30-40 dollars worth of food. Generally, the food is OK, occasionally bad, but considering the limited halal delivery options in the city, it's OK to my low standards. However, my complaint is not about the food, but of the professionalism of the staff. I called to place an order recently, they put me on hold for almost 10 minutes, after telling them I wanted to make a delivery order. I had to hang up and call back. Then, when finally placing my order, they began to balk, started making excuses about how the "driver" says my location is too far away (although they have delivered here before), and they are closing soon, ultimately asking "how much (read $$) were you planning on ordering?" before even properly taking my order, implying that if my order was not large enough they would not deliver to me, even though they had delivered to my location before. Suffice to say this is abysmal and disrespectful. I will never order from here again, this coming from someone who used to order from them in the upper decile of frequency. Simple lack of respect. They could have stated up front that they don't take deliveries after a certain time and that would have been fine, I would have understood and not stayed on hold for 10 minutes. But, after telling them "delivery order" and getting their excuses after putting me on hold for several minutes, I got the distinct feeling that they did not value my time nor did they want my business, and hence, they will never get it again. -- I should add, don't order from here, if you want the same sort of food but better with 10000x better service, order from Eastern Kabob and Grill on Eastern St. Their food is better, and management is EXTREMELY courteous and helpful. Only issue is they are not open too late. But I would say that hands down a better place to order from.

This place has really dropped off. What was one of the best take-out restaurants around the Cross St Market has become a gross mess. The only thing the new management has done right is improve the delivery time. The fresh cuts of lamb and hand formed kofta which used to be displayed in the front counter waiting to go on the grill when you ordered have been replaced with suspiciously-stained-red grey meat chunks. Prepackaged pitas have replaced fresh naan in the meals we tried. They have expanded their menu greatly, it seems the new management has decided that rather than serve good fresh food, Cross Street Kabob will rely on Sysco for most of their menu. You can't find freshly prepared doner here anymore, but you sure can get your fill of frozen Sysco pizza, chicken wings, subs, onion rings, fries, and jalapeno poppers. Gross. If you want cheesy, fried, and delicious go to Mother's, don't pay $12 for what is essentially a Hungry Man dinner. Stay away, in an area so saturated with take-out places there is no reason to waste your money here.

  • A. P.

The food is pretty decent. I had the falafel doner, it was a good portion for the price. The falafel was a little different than I have ever had, the texture was off. But the fresh cucumber and the sauces really helped, had good flavor. The hummus also had a weird texture, a bit slimy actually. The flavor was decent, could have used more tahini and lemon. The delivery was pretty fast even at prime dinner time. I'll probably try other things on the menu next time, it was decent enough but wouldn't really go out of my way to eat here.

This place has quality food. I ordered the Chicken Seekh. There was quick five minute wait, but just have patience because it is made fresh, and not the meat that's been rotating all day. Best to call in your order if your taking it to go at around 1:30am because they are very busy around then for some reason. Everything was made fresh including the pita. Premium quality! I'm just a tourist, but I will be back at least 12 or 13 more times. Friendly staff.

I am a regular customer of this place until my husband find metal nut in his philly cheesesteak! It was horrible!! I ordered salad and my salad was bad. Chicken tender we ordered was very small compared to previous orders (I've ordered many times before). I used to like the food here so much, but looks like they do not retain the food quality and I'm very frustrated. I am sorry, I could give them 5 stars if it was few months ago, but now, the food quality is just bad bad bad.

    (1)
  • Dan P.

Food is mediocre. Service is mediocre. There are always a couple people in there doing nothing. Not sure if it's also a hang out type of place in addition to a restaurant.

  • Christine G.

I really want to like this place more, but the mistakes they've made with our orders tick me off. The good -- The food is usually quite good. The platters and wraps are tasty. The meats are flavorful and tender. I love the Donor Kabob Pizza. The chili garlic wings are the perfect amount of spicy. The bad -- A delivery guy once showed up to our house two hours after we ordered them holding our pizzas sideways. If I'd answered the door, I wouldn't have accepted them. They were super cold and crumbled down inside the boxes. Tonight we ordered a donor kabob thin-crust pizza with white sauce. Tonight (after an hour and 20 minutes) we got a thick crust pizza with tandoori chicken, eggplant, and tomato sauce. Unfortunately, none of us had eaten today, so we went ahead and ate it instead of returning it. It was spongy and bland. Bottom line -- Generally very tasty food, but super slow delivery and prone to mistakes.

I got #1 and didn't realize that it is a salad with kebob meat - no pita bread and sauce I was expecting. However, the salad was very good - the meat was excellent! We ordered a side of naan bread and it was more like pizza dough without topping. Despite its strange appearance, it was delicious - piping hot and buttery. I would definitely check out the place again for a traditional kebob and chicken.

Dankest cheese pizza, Philly steak subs, chickpeas, chicken tikka. Actually never tried anything there I didn't like.

I have been waiting for a restaurant to serve Doner Kebabs in Baltimore. Thank you Cross St Kabobs!! For this reason alone I will continue to frequent this place until the wheels fall off.

I'd been hearing great things about this place so I decided to try it delivery. I ordered the chicken kabob for my boyfriend and the lamb for me. It came with a small salad (kinda wimpy and wilted with a watery dressing), some pita, and a choice of vegetable (I got spinach and chickpeas--not a vegetable but delicious anyway, and a generous portion of rice. The actual kabob was so good. They were both spiced really well and were juicy despite the delivery. Also, delivery time was pretty quick ~30 minutes or so. I'll definitely be back.

  • Jonathan C.

Great addition to the neighborhood. Cheap, easy and great tasting food. We had the lamb tikka and the chapeli kebab. Both meats were good. But even more surprising, the sides were excellent. We had the spinach/potato, the lentils, chick peas and spiced cauliflower and all were very good. Maybe not appealing to the eye when you look in the case but all were great tasting with the right amount of spice. Takeout dinners were generous, more food than we could eat for dinner leaving plenty of leftovers. We thought service was fine and food was prepared as we waited. I will definitely be adding this place the "not in the mood to cook dinner - but want something tasty" rotation.

Extremely rude people and very late delivery. They hung up the phone on me because I said the order is taking 1.5 hours late. I know I am never ordering again from here.

So happy that Yelp directed us here while attending the tall ships event at the Inner Harbor. Found the Palace combo to be excellent- great flavor in both of the kabobs. Spinach and potatoes were great, and the bread was hot and fresh. The chickpeas were tasty, but I found them to be a bit oily. Fed a family of four for a bargain price, and the proprietor could not be nicer. Hitting this place when we're back in Baltimore.

I just stopped by here for lunch and got the daily special, lamb curry. It came with my choice of 2 vegetables and bread or rice. I chose spinach, chickpeas and naan bread. Even though I was the only person in the restaurant, it took about ten minutes to get my food despite the fact that the lamb was not cooked to order, it was just sitting in a vat alongside the vegetables. The lamb portion was pretty measly, and was also riddled with large hunks of fat and HUGE pieces of bone. Also there were bones fragments mixed into the curry sauce, and it was not very warm, but a little more so than the spinach and potatoes. The spinach and potatoes were just slightly above room temperature - basically the perfect temperature for cultivating food-borne illness. Chickpeas were good, but again a pretty small portion and not even close to hot temperature-wise. Felt pretty ripped off for a $10+ lunch "special".

Delicious food and great service. This is now one of our top spots for carry-out. We've eaten here several times and love it.

Ordered from here because one of the only Kabob restaurants that would deliver to where I live. Was pleasantly surprised by the service. I think it was one of the owners who delivered the food to me and he was really friendly. He even told me to call the restaurant back if I didn't like the food. I ordered the Chicken Kabob which was delicious. The portions were enough for two medium-sized meals. It comes with a vegetable-side (I didn't know what to expect but I got the chickpeas which came as a type of chickpea curry which went well with the naan-type bread it came with). Also came with a lot of rice and a side salad. I ordered chutney on the side (for free) and put that on the salad. Overall, I'll definitely be eating here again. The quality and taste of the food, as well as the reasonable prices and excellent delivery service make me give this 4.5 stars!

Finally I found a decent kabob place! The chicken and lamb over rice is comparable to good cart food on NYC. Great service and good food.

I order from here and the food is good. The good stuff: Cheesesteak sub- my "go to" Highly recommend. Mango lessi- delicious curly fries- yummy! cheese naan and hummus- tasteful samosas- delicious! The bad stuff: Mozzarella sticks- I got these and there was literally NO CHEESE inside them. Im not even exaggerating. 1 star off because of the mozzarella sticks- that were expensive and terrible.

This place was great--it was a favorite place for takeaway on a low-key Friday night or a quick dinner before going to an O's game--and it was right by our apartment, but sadly it appears to be closed. The signs have been taken down and the place has been closed since late May.

It's truly a shame that I have to give these guys 2 stars, because I genuinely enjoyed the food. I ordered the samosa chat and falafel doner and my wife had the tilapia and naan. It was more food than we expected and given how tasty it was, I'd say it was a good value. However... After being told our order would be ready in 12 minutes, we waited for 15 before asking if our food was ready. Despite having told them this order was "for here" the guy running the place said "this is to go right?" after correcting him, it took another 15 minutes to get our food (some of it). I apologized for causing any confusion to give him an opportunity to apologize, but I was met with the criticism of "well you changed your order for here and that messed things up." He unceremoniously plopped the rest of our food (cold) on the table 5 minutes later in a to-go container. During our 30 minute wait (no exaggeration, we ordered at 7:58, received food at 8:28) we overheard a lot of disappointing customer service. This included: - Lying to a customer about a faxed order and saying "oh, our system is slow... you know, with the phone lines and stuff. So I just saw your order, but we're doing it." - Answering the phone several times to address customers who were still waiting for delivery with the same response: "Oh yeah, the delivery guy is really busy. Just talked to him... lots of orders but he's going to be there soon." Of course he had not spoken to any delivery driver while we waited. - Insisting to a customer that was given the wrong order that the customer was actually mistaken about what they ordered and that he should "trust me man, you're gonna love it anyway, i swear!" Who knows why our order took so long while the place was almost empty, but I could've overlooked all of that and put up 3 or 4 stars if they were just more honest, polite, and sincere. The guy running the place tonight was anything but, and from what I've read in other reviews, this sort of customer service is typical. All that said... I'll eat there again and soon because it's cheap and delicious, so long as that greasy child shill/hawker isn't anywhere in sight.

Dining in here isn't that glamorous, but the food is great! I had a lamb donor and my boyfriend got a gyro platter. We also shared wings. Everything was amazing! They also deliver, which is a great feature in the polar vortex. AND they are on Seamless (my favorite food app)!

  • Rachel R.

Don't judge a book by its cover. The food was delicious! The fresh naan bread with hummus for appetizer was awesome. I had the falafel wrap; you could tell it was homemade and fresh. My husband had the lamb wrap and his was great, too. Not too shabby prices either. Great pick!

Good food, terrible service. They ALWAYS get my order wrong. Last time the guy suggested I order online instead, so I did... and it was wrong again! Then they offer for me to come in to pick up whatever is not right with the order, which is not an option hence me ordering DELIVERY. Not to mention the guy saying it was my fault it was wrong... AGAIN (I double checked the order and the confirmation). So annoying. If you must eat here, I suggest dining in, that way they can fix your order right there. Otherwise don't bother.

This place is pretty awesome...so glad to have a good kabob joint in Fed Hill. I went here shortly after it first opened and have been back several other times. Good sized portions, tender & flavorful kabobs, great sides (the chickpeas are delicious) and good naan. The interior of this place is nothing to write home about, but it is BYOB if you're in the mood for some beers with your kabob. Also tried delivery once through Seamless.com (they have a $10 for $20 deal on Google Offers right now) - it came pretty quickly (35 min) and everything we ordered was included (we even got an extra side thrown in!).

  • Charles H.

VERY good food. I've had the Palace Combo (which was the chicken kabob and the lamb) and the Lamb Chop in my 2 visits there. Both were awesome, though I give more points to the Combo; the chops weren't as much food. One issue on both occasions is the service. They don't really acknowledge your presence when you come in and they definitely take their sweet time getting you your food, but I'm assuming that's why it tastes so good -- all freshly made. Maybe I'll call it in from now on... All in all, really excited it's in the 'hood now.

  • Emily G.

The food was delicious, if only it was what I had ordered. Whatever you do, DO NOT order online via Eat24. I don't know who's fault it is but when I called the kabob house claims that Eat24 has their menu wrong. Instead of calling me to find out what I actually wanted to eat, the Kabob house just threw whatever into the bag. When I called to complain about it, I was told it was my own fault for ordering online. The food is excellent but don't expect it to be anything you recognize if you order online and don't expect the restaurant to take responsibility.

The nan was made fresh for us and the food tasted ok, until about half-way through my spouse and I noticed a fairly large (2" x 3") piece of plastic in our spinach-potato dish. I returned the tray to the counter, the person who took our order turned and showed it to the cook who shrugged. He set our dish down, asked if I wanted a replacement, I said no and they both returned to working.... serving the same dish that we had just found plastic in! We walked out without paying. On a plus side, this establishment didn't seem to be over-run with the party crowd that fills most of the restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. So that's a thing.

We decided to try this place for lunch. There was no one there but got decent reviews on Yelp. I had the Chicken Kabob and it was pretty good. The price was a little high for lunch.

  • Gabe A.

Ate here a couple of times and have also had it delivered. The portions are good size and the bread is fresh - they make it right there in their special oven - much better than what I've tried in other kabob restaurants. I've tried the lamb, chicken and beef kabob all three are good but I would say that beef is my favorite, my wife is fan of the lamb and the okra.

  • Julia R.

The food is amazing. So delicious. Everything I've ever had is wonderful. Kebabs, bread, all of the veggies. Spiced to perfection. The service is a little slow, but has definitely improved since they opened. And the people are very nice, and polite and helpful. I'm pretty familiar with this kind of food, but I have definitely seen them help others who seemed a little more tentative, guiding them to things they might like. I wish I could better explain how good this food is. Really, it's delicious. Perfect. Everyone who has tried it loves it. My dog usually gets most of it - she likes it the most, and you would think that's not an endorsement, because some dogs eat everything, but she knows good food. Probably better for take out, since like some others have written, it's nothing much inside, but it makes such a great dinner on a night you don't feel like cooking. Any of the kebabs, the spinach, the lentils, the chick peas, the bread, OMG the bread. Don't agree to share with someone else, though, unless you are each getting your own. They give you plenty, but if you decide to just share one platter, you will definitely find yourself arguing over lamb chunks. Because you will love them and want to keep them all for yourself, no matter how nice you think you are.

The consequence of flying in from the west coast is the 3 hour time change leaving me usually with few dining options. Came across this place thanks Yelp and am extremely happy to have walked in here. The food is made to order and I cannot remember the last time I ate chicken this tender. I will definitely make a return trip the next time I am in Baltimore.

I eat at Kabob House about once every other week, usually ordering the boneless chicken kabobs, the spinach, or the chickpeas as a side. Consistency is not one of the features at Kabob House. Sometimes, the food is quite spicy. Sometimes, it is not. The spinach is always really good whether or not it is spicy. Sometimes it may have more or less potatoes. Sometimes you get two sides. Sometimes you get one.

  • Michael L.

The food was quite tasty, but somehow one whole dish got left out. I'll admit things were a bit confused, as I had some guests who were having some trouble with the menu and environment, but the final order was simple enough. To leave out one whole kabob platter was pretty bad. I had the steak tandoori kabob, which tasted very good, if a bit chewy, and the chickpeas which were really good. The bread, of course, was a real treat. One of my guests had the chicken tandoori kabob, which she didn't particularly like, but she does have a pretty unadventurous palate. The other guest got nothing (as mentioned), but we shared. I'd be willing to go back, but my guests are pretty done with the place.
