A welcome addition to a neighborhood full of caffeine hungry students and hospital workers. Very nicely decorated space with stained wood counter tops, exposed brick and lofted ceilings. It is a welcoming scene with great music mostly from the 90s. It also is DOG FRIENDLY which will automatically give it a few extra stars from me. What stands out of course is the pourover coffee made to order with your own organic beans ground specifically for each cup. They have varieties from Mexico and Guatemala right now but I imagine this will rotate over time. You need to give yourself about 5 minutes just for the coffee to drip but it is definitely worth the time as it is smooth and delicious and served in great mugs (don't worry, if your in a rush they have brewed coffee as well). I also had a scone that was very good. There food options are limited to just a few different pastries but what is important is that the things that they do make, they make well. A GREAT place to slow down a little and have some slow drip coffee or get work done.

What a great coffee shop! The location is perfect. It feels like it's tucked away in Ridgley's Delight, but in reality it's just one block off of 295. That makes it an easy stop if anyone is driving in or out of Baltimore. The atmosphere is great for sitting and enjoying your coffee and pastry. There is also WiFi. They brew Ceremony Coffee which is a roastery run out of Annapolis. The espresso drink I ordered was delicious. When I went to add half and half to my cup I was very pleasantly surprised to see not just sugar as a sweetener, but also free syrups that I could add myself. I will be back many times!

My brother lives in walking distance from the Sidewalk Espresso Bar and I insist on going at least once each time I visit him in Baltimore. The inside is really beautiful: old wood floors, nice art, and classy looking furniture. They also import some baked goods from some local places in Little Italy. None of them are vegan, so I can't speak to their deliciousness, but they get rave reviews from other cafe goers. I am an iced americano nut, so that's what I get each time, because that's what I usually get everywhere else. The espresso they use is fantastic. I did also buy a pound to brew at home a few months ago. They get their coffee from a roaster in Annapolis called Ceremony, whose coffee I had not previously tried. I enjoyed the homebrew as well. The staff is always super friendly. They have a loyalty program that works via their neat Square/i-Pad POS system that regulars seem to enjoy quite a bit. They do take debit/credit cards and there isn't a minimum purchase amount. I never sit down in the Sidewalk Espresso Bar, though it does look inviting--we always take our coffee to go--so I can't speak to the sitting experience. The Sidewalk Espresso Bar is a great addition to this neighborhood!

Great coffee and yummy biscottis! The baristos are friendly and have made this place a true neighborhood gem. Locals come in and are all greeted on a first name basis. Dogs too sometimes! Two things I would change... the hours and the music. Please stay open later than 3 and please please please change the playlist every so often. Tip: If you need soy, just ask. They keep it in the fridge.

Great great coffee shop! The baristas are very knowledgable and friendly. One of my favorite coffee shops in baltimore.

I have had their brewed coffee and the pour over and the roasts they carry are always a little more acidic than I prefer. Still tasty if I'm eating something sweet with it. Their pastries (chocolate croissants, scones) are to die for. The service is also very good with friendly staff.

meh...all about speed vs. making a beautifully crafted coffee. good beans, but it's not quite a coffee house.

I am so happy this place opened in my neighborhood. There is an older coffee shop in this neighborhood, however, the coffee is just terrible. Sidewalk Espresso Bar has high standards for coffee. When they first opened, my friend and I bought two pastries which were both pretty terrible (dry scone and an overly sweet muffin). This is the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 stars. I have faith that should I not be the only one who does not like the pastries, that they will improve. They have wifi and really nice people who run the place. Enjoyed. Enjoy!

Even though Sidewalk Espresso Bar looked very hip, wasn't too cold, had good music and had nice staff, the coffee was below average. The size and presentation was good, yet the coffee was literally lukewarm... Would not go there again.

This Expresso Bar is located right next to our business in Baltimore. We love when we have a free moment and can escape to Sidewalk's Expresso Bar. The Coffee is delicious and the owner Andy is so welcoming. The breakfast sandwiches are yummy. It is located near Rachaels Dowry Bed and Breakfast in the Ridgley's Delight Area across from the Orioles stadium. Love this place. I highly recommend it to anyone!!!

I went with a friend to order a quick lunch and we had to ask for a refund after waiting at least 20 minutes after my sandwich came out as something other than what I ordered. He ordered a breakfast sandwich which was microwaved. My sandwich came out as vegie two pieces of white bread, a lot of lettuce, a slice of tomato, and two different kinds of cheese (one slice of each). I bought the sandwich back to show there was no turkey. The food comes from the Deli Mart a few doors down and there was an argument that when ordered through the walky talky it was a veggie sandwich instead of the turkey. When charging the order they use the square and we were told the full amount had to be refunded to remove the sandwich and recharged. This was done incorrectly and at that point I asked for it to be refunded and I was told the owner was not available. It wasn't crappy customer service this place has no customer service. I am not the first customer to complain about the food service being told from the employee. To me, if you can't make food at the location you're selling it and can't control the amount of time it takes and have repeated delays maybe the food service should not be provided and stick to just selling coffee.

Ahhh Sidewalk used to be my coffee shop of choice when I lived closer to the hospital but now it's more like a 20 minute walk to get here. This is the only place I know of in Baltimore (and probably even DC) with a flat white on their menu - basically a latte with less foam on top. My only gripe is that the tables are almost always taken up by UMB students on their laptops so you're always relegated to the back table next to the bathroom door or taking your coffee to go.

Like the layout & atmosphere. Great coffee & low key, yet information wait staff. Free WiFI with LOTS of electrical plugs. Highly recommend.

Sidewalk is a brand new, boutique coffee shop, focused on delivering awesome coffee and espresso drinks. They are located in a really cute neighborhood near Camden Yards and Ravens Stadium - - I found them on my way to the game on Sunday - fortunate for me! The place is really cool, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the B'More Mocha Latte (their signature drink) was incredible - a dash of Old Bay Seasoning in a tasty mocha made for a great combination! And I saw them doing these hand crafted pour over special coffees for other customers who then said the coffee was fantastic. Evidently, not too many coffee shops do this kind of thing. I'll go back for sure very soon!

I'm giving this place 3 stars not because of the quality of the coffee or anything. This place is better than anything close, like the deplorable Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at the Hilton. The coffee is good and simple. But it's impossibly, ridiculously slow. They only have one person working the bar, even in the morning, and they only make one drink at a time. Expect to wait several minutes before you get a chance to order this delicious coffee from the friendly waitstaff.

I love it here. It's the perfect place to study, read, or just sit with your pugs and let the day slip away. They do a nice cup of pour-over with a few specialty roasts that rotate regularly. The staff is friendly and the owner (Andy) feels like a lifelong next-door neighbor. Look out for special tasting events; it's like a neighborhood get together, usually with great food from Corner Bistro. The menu is a little sparse but the baked goods are fresh. Enjoy!

I end up here because of an article on coffee blog, Sprudge.com , features the disloyalty program in DC/Baltimore. As a visitor and barista, I really appreciate great coffee. I have paid this place two visits, first time the Americano and Espresso was not excellent, but still drinkable. But my second experience was terrifying. The second time, I ordered an espresso. The barista was making an milk-based drink (latte?) She steamed the milk the way like Starbucks did. Micro-foam is non-existing. And she did not clean the steam wand after use, and let milk drip on the machine. My espresso, believe it or not, was filled all the way up in a 3 oz cup. possibly 45 gram of espresso, in absolutely less than 25 seconds. A 100-dollar Mr. Coffee could have done the same thing. Very disappointed.

Admittedly, I can be sometimes hard to please when it comes to coffee. I finally decided to try Sidewalk Espresso Bar and it was wonderful! They have several different roasts each day, and offer pour-over coffee too. They currently sell baked goods as well, and after speaking with the owner last week, they will also have sandwiches soon too. The staff is friendly and great with remembering orders after just a few trips. They offer free WIFI as well. I just hope that they extend their weekend hours soon! I often don't make the trip there as it doesn't seem worth it since they close at 4.

A good bit of seating and great coffee, but no wi-fi and the breakfast sandwiches are microwaved :( The barista was on top of it and very friendly, making a nice design on the top of my coffee. I wanted to give the place five stars, but the sandwich wasn't any good and the lack of wi-fi killed the idea of me working from the coffee shop for the day. I guess with a small location they don't want people to stick around for too long taking up tables. If you want a great cup of coffee I recommend this place, but just stick to their drinks and not the food.

serendipity in a cup o joe!!! this place does pour over coffees right. he had an Ethiopian straight up pour over. took a few minutes to make, super careful with putting it all together. it came slightly hot but not scalding so enough to take a wonderful rich sip. they made it perfectly!!! got a pumpkin biscotti with it and loved that it wasn't too hard. :) dunked it in the drink for a simple snack-a-roo. they also have a few other pastry choices and... free wi -fi . if i lived here, i would definitely be here more often!! ** parking secret -- there is a gas station around the corner... park there for a quick grab and go! ;)

I was looking for a real coffee shop with a nice selection of beans and people who knew what to do with them, and I got exactly that. I had a Kenyan pour over that tasted even better than the grounds smelled. The barista was knowledgeable and friendly - my friend and I were enjoying the conversation with her so much we stood at the counter for another ten minutes after paying.

On the road from New Jersey to San Francisco I want to leave a review for everywhere I stop. First stop was Baltimore and I enjoy a great slow pour coffee. The coffee was good, made in front if you and was handled very nicely by a friendly mid aged man. Can't complain about anything, found parking very easily and the place was very clean while being greatly presentable.

  • Vicky D.

They started staying open till later but have summer hours, which makes sense because there are less students trying to stay up late to study. Also, they are having more wine/beer/coffee tasting events which I would definitely recommend. I've gone to 3 and had a great time at every one of them. My only gripe now is that they only have 2% milk, no skim =( I know it probably makes the coffee taste better, but I always try to eat low fat so it makes me feel guilty afterwards. Maybe I'll ask about soy instead.

This place is under new ownership and baristaship and has improved a lot. The espresso used to taste terribly and acidic but my last 3 cappuccino's have been fantastic. The service is much friendlier as well.

Good strong coffee with a fun space. Nice big tables to work at. The service was really nice and along with big tables this coffee shop also has a lot of good light, which is always nice.

Best coffee and tea in the area of Ridgley's Delight - and one of my top 2 in the city! Not only do they have great quality goods, but they contribute to the community, specifically with children aging out of the foster care system. Can't complain about the food & pastries they bring in from other local shops either! In general, baristas are great & can make good recommendations - one of them is a bit less attentive but haven't been there recently when that person is working

Really amazing coffee options served here. Not only espressos and lattes but incredible hand-pours and nitro cold brews (the only ones in the city). Really well done craft coffees in the middle of Ridgelys Delight near Camden Yards. It's like a class in high-end coffee brewing every time!

Stopped in to use the Wifi and sip a pick-me-up. Wasn't planning on ice cream, but I had to try it. A regular size ($3.45) let me try three flavors. I enjoyed the Apple Struedel, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Cardamom flavors. I love that they source from local companies. There was a fancy pour over coffee system, with descriptions of the beans of the moment, but I'm not much of a coffee-affianado, so I just ordered a house drip. While I worked, I overheard two employees discussing the espresso grinder in detail, to get the best flavor. It seemed like they really know their stuff here. I hope they expand to sandwiches in the future! I would add this to my lunch rotation, but can't live on ice cream (or pastries) alone!

I've been meaning to come here for sometime now, but have always just driven past because I can never find parking. Very frustrating. However today, there was a spot right in front of the café. Totally meant to be! Upon walking in, I was really taken with the nice, clean appearance of the cafe, as well as the friendly barista behind the counter. The coffee menu isn't huge, but it is robust enough to give you a ton of options. They also brew Ceremony Coffee which is local to Maryland (out of Annapolis) and uber tasty. Being preggers, I have to watch my caffeine consumption, so I opted for a Sanpellegrino instead and a lemon poppyseed muffin and took a seat. I have to say, the muffin looked a lot better than it tasted. It was super dry on the inside and just crumbled, which was disappointing. Still, the sandwiches looked pretty daggone yummy, so maybe it's my fault for getting the wrong thing. Either way, I will definitely be back in to try more than just the muffins. It looks like it could be a great work spot to set up for awhile and relax. It gets warm in there, so remember to dress in layers and take of your sweater if need be. Just a tip!

Unfortunately, Ceremony Coffee has discontinued their wine-barrel conditioned coffee series, and therefore, Sidewalk Espresso no longer carries it. Pain to my soul! My only consolation is that at least Sidewalk Espresso has started to source their coffees from more establishments, including Square One whose blends are also very flavorful. The main reason for writing this update is to report a fantastic deal: Study Hall Espresso Happy Hour! If you find yourself craving a hand-crafted espresso beverage after 3pm on a weekday or 2pm on a weekend, head over to Sidewalk Espresso, because all espresso-based beverages are 25% off and brewed coffees are 50% off! Also, students receive a 10% discount with their student ID. Love, your friendly neighborhood deal monger

We went in the afternoon for a pick me up. It had great space and light for studying! UMB folks get 10% off! Coffee, ice cream and snacks are available. Also great for studying because they have Wifi! I would go back again! It's super close to the UMB campus and it's easy to get to!

Cafe Tesfa has some really good pourover coffees in an area of town otherwise devoid of decent coffee options. The cafe is also comfortable and the staff are friendly. I was in town for a few days and came nearly every day to do some work in the mornings - the wifi is good and the ambiance is peaceful. My only complaint is that I wish they had more vegetarian food options other than things with cheese, but it's a cafe not a restaurant so no big deal.

Went to an event to hear a friend play music and see the local artist art hung on the walls. Both were excellent. I learned so much about coffee from the very gracious owners. Tried an expresso that was slightly bitter a hint of citrus but overall smooth. Great group of people who know there coffees. They do have a small selection of sandwiches but I didn't try any on this visit.

I think its really hard to jack up a iced Chai Tea latte but this place takes the cake. I only took two sips and left it some where. when i came in the girl who helped me was in a rush, its like she wanted me to get out of her hair as soon as possible. Maybe thats why the drink was terrible. I wont go there again.

I had the best latte of my life there. It wasn't just a little better it was transforming. This is what a latte should be. I'm spoiled for all other lattes. I just can't have a latte from anywhere else, without thinking of that perfect latte that is being served at Café Tesfa and wishing that was the one I was having. Don't even get me started on the ice-cream. The flavors are so unique it's almost exotic. It's a great place to sit and sip. I highly recommend it.

Synopsis: Atmosphere: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Taste: 5/5 Price: 4/5 Selection: 4.5/5 (can use more food items) This is easily the best place I have been to for coffee. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming, and it is pet friendly, so I can bring my dog. The staff are very friendly and they know their stuff. That goes double for the guy with the tattoos. It is slightly pricy, but easily worth it. I haven't had a bad cup of coffee and I come at least once a week, sometimes twice a week. This is a cafe, as the title states, so don't expect full meals, but they do have sandwiches to eat as well as ice cream, with quite interesting flavors. As for the coffee it is to die for. They have the standard drip coffee and a selection of pour over coffees as well as other coffee related beverages. I always get the pour over, but I have done others in the past. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

This is a small establishment just a few streets away from the stadium. Their hours are hit and miss, but when you hit it's awesome. Some of the best espresso I've had in a really long time. Got an Americans with just a bit of steamed soy milk. It was so frothy, rich and the flavors were just right. The service was quick and very friendly. I noticed that they sell their whole beans as well as an assortment of pastries etc...

Within walking distance from UMMC, I was super excited to try the newer food offerings at this newly rebranded spot in Ridgley's Delight. I was well satisfied by a cup of corn chowder and a toasted sandwich with thin sliced roast beef, and a horseradish mustard. This spot is a calm, quiet spot to grab some time to yourself in the afternoon. Of course, their Annapolis-based Ceremony Coffee Roaster offerings are a treat too, take advantage of their pour over technique and stay for awhile. Now I don't want to go back to work...

Sidewalk Espresso Bar is a lovely and unique place in the Ridgely's Delight neighborhood. I love their unique pour-overs - they're skillfully made and tasty too! Their bakery goods are pretty good as well. Unfortunately, I don't think they do discounts anymore for students (or at least not in the past few times I've been). I heard they were trying to figure out what to do about student discounts but seems like nothing came of it :( Some of the customer service I've received there has been a little awkward? It's happened more than once when I'm unsure how to order because the person behind the counter is outside having a conversation away from the register (like outside the establishment). I also feel like Sidewalk tends to be a little pricier than other places for food/drink that is about the same. For that reason, if I can help it, I tend to go for other coffee shops in the area before I consider Sidewalk :/ STILL it's a good study spot and they keep great hours for students (yay for free Wi-Fi). Definitely give it a try if you've never had a pour-over!

I dropped in today for a pour over and I was not disappointed. What drew me to this location was that they have a changing list of coffee's available. When I walked in I stood by the whole bean coffees available, and I checked the flavor profiles of the coffees offered. I was delighted to see an ethiopian roast that had rose tasting notes. I prefer to drink coffee without milk which lends itself well to lighter roasts. While I was waiting, I realized that each of the coffees available for pour over are also on the counter so you can see what the beans look like and smell them. I smelled all 3 roasts, they all smelled wonderful, but I was pleased with my selection. There were customers at the counter when I came in, and I thought that she did an excellent job getting everything done quickly. Sometimes ordering a pour over can take a lot of time. Honestly, I'm from the south and I often feel like I have all the time in the world to stand and wait for a good cup of coffee. However, my co-workers aren't and it is probably best that I arrived sooner rather than later. The cup of coffee was wonderfully executed. If I have time, I'll be sure to pick up some beans to take home.

Very pleased. Their espresso drinks actually taste correct, no over streaming milk happening here! The WiFi could be better, so minute one star, but other than that I'll be back again and again. Decent food menu if you're hungry suddenly

Apparently, I like wearing my chai tea latte more than I like drinking it! I spilled basically a full latte all down my pants... *face palm* The latte was just an ok one but the barrista was nice enough to give me another one free of charge and I was careful not to spill it. The muffin I ordered was pretty good and the snack pack if hummus hit the spot! I was hankering for some real lunch food and not just breakfast and snacks but that's ok. I love the location and the free WiFi!

  • Nisha G.

I am so excited about this place that I could not wait to share my experience. Location is key and this place really got the best spot, located right next to all the frantic and caffeine addict professionals/students... I really hope the extend their hours of operations but maybe in time they will. Make sure to get the disloyalty card where you get a stamp at any of the approved coffee shops on the card. After you get a stamp at all of them you get a free beverage of your choice at your favorite place! If you love coffee and not being tied down, disloyalty card is for you! Also as weird as the bmore mocha (coffee with old bay) sounds, it works! Try it out if you're feeling adventurous...Another recommendation to expand the breakfast selection. Its kind of hard to compete with Peace and a cup of joe for breakfast! Definitely prefer the ambiance of this place over peace and a cup of joe. Less grimy and dirty feeling! Oh yeah and the owner is THE SHIT!
