This is a great happy hour spot because you get a wine flight for $6 which you cannot beat. They also have a good wine selection unlike many places in the canton area. We did a cheese plate with our wine which was pretty good. They lose a star for service because the staff seemed disorganized and unknowledgeable but they were all very friendly. We enjoyed having the choice of being able to sit outside or by big bright windows (although they could really use a cleaning) since most places in Baltimore are dark bars. We will definitely be repeat customers.

We went to this place for brunch on Sunday, April 12th and it was a disaster. We were initially excited because the menu looks great and it's a cool little spot. So it took nearly 20 minutes just to get drinks. The coffee was full of grinds and just bad. Most brunch places seem to have bad coffee, so whatever. We finally got to order after being there for close to 40 minutes and then we waited another hour and some change for our food. The food was poorly prepared and not very good. Everyone that got a dish with poached eggs had cooked yolk. Almost no hollandaise sauce. I'm not talking a stingy amount. It was a tiny dot. What's up with that? The English muffins were burnt to a crisp. I got the crab cake grilled cheese, which sounds and should be awesome. It was wet unseasoned crab meat straight out of the can and slapped on bread with some cheese. And it was cold. Nothing about the crab was crab cake. If we were in Wisconsin, I would be annoyed but we're in Baltimore. That is downright shameful. The manager came over to apologize, but he just mumbled something we didn't understand and ran away from the table. Thanks for the heartfelt apology! They did take half off our bill, but I would have loved to pay full price and had a fun Sunday brunch. And we missed the first inning of the ball game. It's a shame because we could have come here frequently but now we will not be returning. Bad service, bad food, no upside to this place. Bistro RX is not what the doctor ordered.

Bistro looks so promising and then can be so disappointing. This is THE ONLY restaurant on this side of the park and it has one main problem: service. Every time I have been here, the service is super slow. And these have been at some extremely slow times of night. Our waitresses seem to get lost during the service and barely come around. Getting the check and paying can sometimes take an inordinate amount of time. The menu has changed recently and when reading it, my mouth waters. But when I order Portuguese octopus and I get three pieces the size of three baby carrots for $20, I get kind of mad. Not to mention the odd sauce added to it and its chewy consistency. I ended up eating half of my date's $12 meal because it was so much food and I was still starving. The beer menu and wine menu is pretty good. The prices could use an adjustment, but the list is at least pretty extensive. This place has so much potential. The minute another restaurant moves into the area, I wonder if the competition would make Bistro better or drive it out of business.

Weekend brunch is about timing. If it's a good place, there's a line. If it's too early, you're still hungover. BistroRx's brunch is no different, so time it right for the patio and endless $10 drinks. The latter is a STEAL, our meal lazing on for 4+ hrs during a recent SundayFunday. The former is comfort. Cooler months retain a chill at the idyllic tennis corner of Patterson Park. Your patio seat is west of the building and you're shaded until the sun climbs over at 12:30. Dress warm. Food's an afterthought.. standard breakfast fare has starchy potatoes and dry omelettes, but the chorizo was dry and spicy. The menu is strict, noting the main plate requirement to access the endless $10 special, but they're flexible and we've combo'd sides to unlock the drinks. Come for the booze and view.

Oh Bistro Rx, where do I start. They are cute and have an innovative menu - that can involve things like kangaroo. There is usually parking since they are not right on the square, but it is an easy walk from Canton or Fells. I've been for dinner a few times and find them a little over rated. Prices are a little high and the food and service is mediocre - generally most are satisfied, but is generally one person in my party who is a little disappointed. Despite this, I took the advice of a friend of mine who feels the same way about dinner, but raves about their brunch. My opinion might be starting to change - food is spot on and affordable. They serve local coffees from High Grounds, on the other side of the park. They also do bottomless mimosas, bloody's, and screwdrivers by the pitcher. We didn't go that route; I was much more interested in the coffee. My friends favorite and the most popular order at the table was the Katzenjammer Hash. They serve their crispy-outside, soft-inside potatoes in a skillet amongst a trio of pork products-scrapple, bacon, and sausage (it might be andouille)-which add a spicy kick to the whole dish. They must have a very special griddle back there and they have mastered crispy edges without overcooking anything. And if that isn't enough they top that with two perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. The sausage and biscuits were also a hit - spicy sausage with a creamy gravy and their house made biscuits. I went with my brunch staple - the Benedict A La Bistro. I liked these. The prosciutto was crispy and offered the perfect amount of saltiness for the creamy poached eggs and the hollandaise. Instead of smothering the potatoes, the eggs topped a buttery crusty muffin. I still got to try the potatoes; they were good, crunchy outsides and spiced with peppers and onions. I think the hollandaise could use a little more flavor and spice, but it was lemony and superbly creamy. Best part is they are starting brunch on Saturday.

I'm taking it to 3 star due to both the web and Yelp menu being totally out of date. I went there for a pre-theatre and annoyed my table-mates terribly by having to go over the options several times, being disappointed by the lack of items I had previewed was excited about earlier in the day! Otherwise, totally decent food and nice atmosphere with a couple vegetarian selections and a great beer/wine list and some overwrought cocktails worth considering, though it's also annoying that the cocktails aren't priced on the menu. Fix the annoying and I'll be back!

On a Saturday evening, a friend and I were looking to mix it up a bit with our dinner choices. We were both in the mood for bar food, but we didn't want to go someplace that was a bar, and we wanted something more than wings. I remembered reading good Yelp! reviews about Bistro RX and we headed over towards Patterson Park. The motto for Bistro RX is 'The Cure For The Common Meal,' and I could not agree more. The menu offerings were fun but still approachable for everyone. It's located on a corner across from Patterson Park and is definitely a neighborhood bar. Inside the ambiance is casual, but would make for a perfect date night. When we walked in, there was no host/hostess to greet us so my friend and I were awkwardly standing in the entrance area until someone came to seat us. There was a nice bar area in the back that had a great wine list which is largely due to the fact that this is a wine bar, if you're a fan of vino I would definitely check out the wine list and come here for a glass (or several.) After looking over the menu, my friend and I decided to try a flatbread. The Four Cheese Flatbread sparked our interest, it came with manchego, caramelized onion cheddar, parmesan, fresh mozzarella, garlic, and olive oil. This dish was cheesy and flavorful with nice crispy edges and we enjoyed every bite. My friend ordered their Pulled Chicken Wrap. It was a very simple dish with pulled chicken and BBQ sauce but it tasted great and was just what she was looking for. Inside the wrap, there was some lettuce which was a little warm from the chicken which she didn't love so she took it out. Her wrap came with a side of French Fries that were skin on, flavorful and delicious. Just how french fries should be. I also was in the mood for a sandwich and ordered the Bistro Prime Dip. The sandwich was served on a freshly toasted baguette with sliced roast beef, grilled onions, smoked provolone cheese and au jus. The sandwich was very good, but I wish the roast beef was cooked a little less because then it would have retained more flavor but it was still a good sandwich. I substituted my regular fries for Disco Fries. They were the perfectly seasoned fries with bacon gravy and shredded cheese. There were hunks of thick cut bacon in this and it was wonderful. Easily the highlight of the meal and it satisfied my craving for disco fries which I have been searching for a good rendition of for a while. Aside from the sub par service, the food was a great creative take on bar food. Overall it was a wonderful meal and I can't wait to go back and try some more of their options.

I've only ever gone here for brunch and I had a great time. All the meals are reasonably priced, and to add bottomless drinks is cheap! Great corner place by the park!

Used to love this place but went here recently and had really poor service. Took about 20 minutes to get a drink and the waiter took forever to come to our table. He never apologized.

I moved away from Baltimore this past year. While I lived there, I loved BistroRX. Great happy hour with wonderful food, for both meatlovers and vegetarians (as I am one) alike. I now live in New York and have been craving Bistro. When I was in town, I stopped by the other night to order the truffle gorgonzola fries and a flatbread pizza before the infamous curfew set in. The truffle fries were no longer on the menu, but the waitstaff insisted the duck fat and mozzarella fries were just as good, if not better. Thinking to myself, well I do not eat duck fat, but I do love BistroRX's fries, decided to try the fries. Thus, an order of the duck fat fries and a mediterranean flatbread pizza (they always have had different kinds and I have loved each one). The duck fat fries were good, but nothing special. I will definitely not crave the duck fat fries like I do the truffle gorgonzola fries. And besides, anyone who really knows Baltimore knows that most places have poutine - nothing unique there - one of the reasons Bistro was always on my top list. Now the flatbread...wtf. While I appreciate generous toppings, there were so many that I could not enjoy the unique, complex flavor of the pizza. In addition, the crust was clearly frozen crust, not homemade. I appreciate when restaurants change their menu seasonally and add variety, but you should never eliminate your unique staples and high quality needs to be maintained; I experienced neither with the food last night. Also, rumor has it that you have gotten rid of your elephant chicken wings and many of my friends think that is a shame.

Great local restaurant with an amazing brunch, great specials, and good food. I love the flatbreads; however, they have come out burned to a crisp a couple times; to the point I wonder why the waitress brought it to me to eat, and didn't send it back herself. Other than the occasional bad experience with the otherwise wonderful flatbreads they do a really good job with their food. The have a good bit of variety on their menu and they change things up on a regular basis.

I love that this spot is close to our house, but it seems that no matter what time we come here we always have to wait an hour for any form of food to arrive. The staff is friendly, the food decent, but for the prices and wait I'd recommend the walk to canton. **be sure to check your food after the wait. Ended up waiting close to an hour for my food, which contained a poached egg. When it finally arrived the entire dish was luke warm at best.

We went here last night (a Friday) just for drinks and it was wonderful! Not only were we happy with a extensive wine list, the cocktail I had (Blue 75) was amazing and not overpriced. The food we saw coming out both looked and smelled delicious. The atmosphere was a little more fancy than casual, but there was a good vibe. We will definitely be returning here soon for dinner!

Stopped in for a quaint evening out on the town with the boyfriend. Since I don't live too far off the park I decided Bistro was worth trying, so we walked. Upon entering the front door I noticed that the restaurant allows customers to bring their four-legged companions along for the ride and have seated tables outside. This made me extremely excited because my pup absolutely adores walks and people watching... and what better people watching than in Baltimore's Patterson Park? Bistro is located directly across from the park and offers great sundown views. I ordered the stuff chicken and my date ordered the pulled pork sandwich. He's not much of a fan of coleslaw but was delectably surprised by how tasty the coleslaw was, since the sandwich is automatically topped with it. Just a forewarning if you are not a coleslaw individual, to ask for it on the side. My chicken was tender, with a crunchy crisp edge and stuffed with mushrooms and spinach. It was absolutely mouthwatering. And the grilled veggies just gave it that extra kick but weren't too heavy. I didn't order dessert but all the items on the menu sounded fantabulous. I noticed they serve up a pretty awesome brunch.. so, I'm thinking I will most definitely bring my boo thang and pup back to Bistro Rx for a lazy Sunday brunch sometime soon. Cheers,

Just had dinner at Bistro Rx Will, the chef, has upgraded the menu. It was terrific. Lamb shanks entree was wonderful. Loved the duck breast. Wayne had added a port list which paired with the salted caramel dessert was the perfect way to finish. Neighborhood gem and if we lived in Maryland would be my go to place. Well done!

Service was prompt, and friendly. Restaurant was cozy and clean. Truffel fries - Pretty average fries, a little limp like previously mentioned in other reviews. Like how McDonald's fries used to be back in the day. Had to try it once, but would probably would not order again. Pomegranet Wings - Pretty average wings as well. Nothing special. Not particularly flavorful. Wanted to try it once, but again, would not order again. Still, friendly neighborhood place. Still would come back to try some real food at some point instead of the appetizers.

Well it's a great location - can't beat it. Obviously a great place for the neighborhood. The restaurant itself is really nice. Nice decor and ambiance. Cozy. Welcoming. Good vibes. I thought the mussels would be outstanding, but I was disappointed. The broth was WAY too salty. My sister said the last time she had them they were just as salty - DEFINITELY needs a recipe adjustment. Went on Tuesday (half priced wine and steak specials) My brother-in-law got the strip and sister got the tenderloin - both were delicious. The chef apparently tends to over cook so if you like it medium rare - order it rare. We also had the truffle fries and the wilted spinach salad. The salad was awesome - really tasty and they don't cheap out on the mushrooms. The fries - I mean... they're fries... fries are always good even if they're bad. However, being critical of them... they are a bit too drenched in grease - not crispy enough - not truffley enough. Of course we ate the whole basket, but those are just my critical notes. Overall good place - convenient for the neighborhood. It would be a good spot to go to when you don't feel like cooking or want to catch up with a neighbor for a drink or dinner.

I use to LOVE this place, but as of late it has not been very good. Much of the food has changed and the quality has been decreased. There aren't many specials anymore to bring in the locals, and I am personally not a fan of the "pureed" food that has been served. If I wanted baby food I would just buy that. Hopefully they change some things back to the was it was.

Couple of weeks ago my sister and I went in for a wine event. The event was scheduled for a certain time but due to another engagement I had scheduled afterwards Wayne was able to help me attend both and start our dinner earlier. The food was wonderful, wine was great, and everyone was very friendly. I've been to Bistro Rx many times and this is a great neighborhood restaurant!

I debated my rating on this establishment for a couple days. I have them a 4 star previously and sad to say I had to take 2 stars away. Problem #1 The person who greeted me at the door was wearing sweatpants and t-shirt. Problem #2 Lady at the bar obviously needed a break from the alcoholic beverages. She was belligerent, disruptive and needed to be sent on her way Problem #3 Our forgetful waitress needed help since we were a large party. She took our drink order but returned 10 minutes later with 2 drinks out of 8 drinks. She then asked us a second time what the other 6 guest of our party were drinking because she forgot. She then departed a second time, 5 minutes she returned with no drinks and asked if we were ready to order. This was particularly frustrating because we we're now on our third attempt of ordering drinks. We finally get drinks, we order appetizers and we are now 50 minutes into our night at this establishment. We order our dinner items to discover the item I wanted was out of stock. How do you run out of red meat at restaurant is beyond me. Problem #4 The bacon wrapped meat loaf sounded like a good idea at the time but I was wrong. The beef was so dry I needed two glasses of water during my attempt to eat it. The bacon was beyond burnt. When I said something to the waitress along with another person who had the same issue I just received an empty stare. Problem #5 I ordered dessert as indicated in the menu there would be ice cream with the chocolate cake if you at requested it. So needless to say I did. They never brought out the ice cream till I asked. It's portion was ridiculous for it was literally less than a spoonful. Problem #6 I asked for a glass of milk with my dessert (chocolate cake). I was laughed at and they thought it was okay to make fun of me because I was grown man asking for a glass of milk. I get it, it's an odd request to some but it's what I wanted. Needless to say was not the worth the $254.00 total at the end of the night. It will be highly unlikely I will ever return to this establishment.

FOOD: Alas after the reviews we anticipated great food, but such was not the case! The rockfish was very overly cooked almost rubbery and the side of rice and beans had zero flavor. The kale was good, but likely had every nutrient cooked out of it and my friend did not think it had any flavor. The crab cake was good per my friend. The oysters were great, but let's be honest there is zero effort on the restaurant's part for these. The truffle fries were not too oily or heavily seasoned. The dessert was an interesting phyllo dough banana... it was good. The wine suggestion was excellent. SERVICE: We were appropriately attended to with a pleasant waitress in a timely manner. AMBIANCE: Delightful and not pretentious. A bit more upscale than standard Canton/Fells. Recommend: It's worth a try if you order differently than us. Return: I won't be opposed, but with so many other options in the neighborhood would opt for someplace different.

The food here is amazing. I have been here a few times for dinner and recently tried their brunch, and every meal I have ever had at Bistro has been delicious. I love that their menu is always changing, although they should definitely bring back the duck nachos! They also have great specials including Monday's beer and wine flights. Last, but certainly not least, bottomless brunch- ON A SATURDAY. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars, is that often it seems the staff are really over extended which definitely impacts their service.

Went here with a friend for Sunday brunch. The place was clean and everyone was extremely friendly. Good and different food choices on the menu, which I liked. The $10 endless mimosas, bloodys, and screwdrivers were awesome and I def drank my money's worth. I'm rating this a 3 because the service/food was extremely slow. After we ordered it literally took 55 minutes for our food to come out. And on top of that, my order was wrong. The food was very good and a decent size - not going to leave hungry. Our server was nice, but we kept having to flag him down for more drinks. Very reasonably priced and a nice atmosphere. I will prob try this place again just because of that. If you go, just make sure you arent in a rush or thirsty. Just an FYI...it can get a bit noisy with AYCD - there were a few stumbling drunks, people "singing" the songs that were playing on the speakers, a drink or two that was spilled, some girl left crying, I got hit on by a drunk dude, and people were arguing over a table - all between noon and 2...on a Sunday. Good times!

Great location, casually cool ambiance. Presentable dishes. However, I've eaten here twice with my girlfriend and this place has back of house issues. Their food isn't bad, it's pretty good, but the kitchen gets backed up really fast and it's a long wait for food. They have a nice bar and good sangria, but until they figure out the management of the food delivery, this place will have to be put on the back burner.

Stoped over here over the weekend for a Sunday brunch. It was crazy crowded which is expected because it is a small space, however we were able to get a great outdoor table to get a good view of the park. I had the hangover omlet which was delish! I mean it would cure any hangover or prepare for the oncoming hangover! I had also bottomless Screwdrivers, which kudos to the bartender they were to die for. So plan ahead but a great place to get scrumptious food and awesome drinks at a great price!

Best brunch spot in Baltimore. They are straight machines with the bottomless mimosas. One sip refill. Repeat beats 12 bucks of your life .

Atmosphere: 3.5 Service: 3.5 Food 3.0 Beer: 3.0 Overall: 3.3 Our first visit to Bistro Rx, located at the northeast corner of Patterson Park, took place on a Saturday around 6:30pm. We hadn't heard much about the small neighborhood eatery but the online menu looked intriguing. The place was nearly empty save for a couple seated at the bar so we had our choice of tables. We were greeted immediately upon entering and shown to our seats. The first thing I noticed upon entering was the overall size of the space. It's small, but comfortable. There are two levels, with one being raised a few feet above the other. Kramer would be proud. The lower level consists of the bar area with seating for 10 or so and a handful of two-top tables toward the front. The upper level is separated from the "downstairs" by a wall of exposed brick with openings strategically placed to make it feel a bit more connected. The overall design aesthetic is understated and clean. The walls are painted in a muted plum with framed photographs neatly hung about. Hardwood floors and wood tabletops add to the warmth. The drink selection is definitely weighted toward the wine lovers with a two-page bottle listing as the main feature. I'm not a wine drinker so I won't comment. My wife managed to find a German Riesling that she thought was pretty tasty. If you're into the grape thing you won't be disappointed. The draft beer selection is rather small (eight taps, I believe) with a few interesting selections. On the eve of our visit they had both Maudite and Éphémère Cassis on tap. Both are offerings from Montreal's Unibroue which seems to be a feature of the establishment. The Cassis was a light bodied beer, cloudy, pink and full of black currant flavor. I'm not a big fan of fruit beers, but this was a solid offering. The bottled beer listing, comprised of 24 selections, seemed a bit disjointed. Among the grouping were Chimay blue and white, two Lindeman's lambics (not for the uninitiated and definitely an acquired taste) and Aventinus, a German weizenbock. It always annoys me when I see a place give short shrift to their beers. They wouldn't dare list a wine simply as "red" or by the winery's name alone, but apparently it's OK when it's a beer. May I suggest listing the beers along with some basic information like the brewery name, beer style, ABV% and tasting notes. For starters we decided to order both the fried green tomatoes and the chorizo and crab mac and cheese. The trio of fried green tomatoes were served atop a smearing of goat cheese puree and topped with a roasted tomato vinaigrette. The highlight of the dish was the goat cheese. The major flaw of the dish was lack of texture. The breading was devoid of seasoning and, along with the limp tomatoes, was pretty soggy and one dimensional. The mac and cheese was OK. The chorizo sausage was a nice touch and the crab added a sweetness to the well-cooked pasta. I was a bit let down by the lack of spice (the menu says pepper jack, but I couldn't taste it) but overall it was one of the better renditions we've had in Baltimore. For the mains my wife went with the curry chicken salad sandwich and I had the braised Thai chicken quarter. The curry chicken salad, served on a soft Kaiser roll with lettuce, was seasoned well with just the right amount of heat and the textural elements of both the grapes and almonds added a welcome dimension. The fries that came with the sandwich weren't the usual Baltimore thick-cut bar fries, they were more on the thin side, so there's that, but I thought they were soggy and forgettable. My wife liked them. Different strokes I suppose. The Thai chicken dish was a great concept that fell short in the execution. The braised quarter chicken was served atop a bed of jasmine rice surrounded by a thin curry broth filled with chunks of green and yellow squash. The chicken skin was rubbery, albeit nicely seasoned, and I spent most of the time picking through bones and cartilage to get to the scant amount of meat. The rice was cooked well and everything tasted good but I just didn't get the broth and the squash was crunchy, almost raw. To round out the evening we asked our server for her suggestion. She recommended the house-made strawberry shortcake; a refreshing choice. More of a sweet biscuit than shortcake it was served sliced in two filled with whipped cream, strawberries and blueberries. A swirl of strawberry coulis encircled the whole. It was tasty but nothing we'd order again. Good, just not $7 good. I've got high hopes for Bistro Rx. The entire time we were there it felt like there was a great restaurant trying to get out. The beer list is interesting with a few hidden gems like Orval and Stone IPA; it just gets relegated to the kids table, almost an afterthought. The food sounds great on paper, but the book is far better than the movie. Unfortunately, our first visit didn't knock it out of the park but we're intrigued enough to give it a second shot.

Neighborhood bar; the food was delicious but the service was not. We ate at the bar. The bartender, was eating at the same time we were. I just don't think it is appropriate for the bartender to be eating pizza while also serving customers. GROSS We had to ask for refills, never asked if the food was okay and never thanked us for coming in! She just looked at us awkwardly when we told her we were ready to order food. Will definitely go back but hope they get more appreciative staff!

What a great local joint! We frequent Bistro Rx, because we always find pretty easy parking and seats available outside. The staff is great. We love that the menu is always changing and always innovative. We love the grilled wings and you can't beat the brunch - or Candice's Manmosa! The bartenders are always ready to help with drink choices, and the wine list is extensive. They also make a mean cocktail!

All I can say is this place is a nice addition to the neighborhood. The decor is right on point with the exposed brick, the double layers gives the place a real cool artsy feel. I like that the establishment sells the art that is hanging around the restaurant. I was really impressed with the extensive wine list as well as the beer list. This place will make any wine and beer drinker proud and the price point on glasses of wine were generously priced I thought. I have no problem paying $8 bucks for a good glass of wine. Based upon the previous reviews, I came at a good time when they have just recently switched chefs and the food was delicious. I decided to go with the evening dinner special of porterhouse pork chops. May I say that was the best pork chop I have ever tasted. It was a rather thick chop, but it was prepared nicely, not dry at all, still juicy after each and every single bite. If you can get to this place on the weekends, I would recommend trying this establishment during the week, they have very nice specials during the week like Wednesday night blue plate special for $10-12 bucks and Tuesdays is $15 steak and half priced bottle of wine night. I feel in this tough economy it is always nice to know that you can still get a great meal for under $20. I am definitely returning for the Wednesday night dinner special. I highly recommend you try this place, I feel you will not be disappointed. I am making this my go to dinner place for when I venture to the Linwood section of Canton. I think this is also a great date night place or a chill night out with the girls.

I used to like this place until i found out how the servers get mistreated and the food changed for the worse. The owner hires and fires like a madman and changes everything so often that you can't count on anything being there from one visit to the next. I do not recommend this place.

Bistro is a charming neighborhood joint with great ambiance right on the park. The service is solid and the beer list is amazing. They do a great job of rotating a lot of the top seasonal microbrews. They're happy hour deal is the best in town: you get 3 almost full size beers for 6 bucks until 7 on weeknights and all night on Tuesdays. Burgers and sandwiches are solid but the entrees are subpar. I want to love this place for any occasion but with their below average dinners it's relegated to just be one of my favorite happy hour spots.

Me and my girl went after a work event at around 7pm and didn't end up leaving till 10:30... A+ for atmosphere. Good tunes.... Food was good. Ordered all the appetizers and split- was just enough for us. Nice wine selection.

A group of friends of mine recently went to Bistro Rx for brunch on a Saturday morning. Despite being relatively busy the service staff made a special effort to seat our party of 7 with a minimal wait. Throughout the entire meal the wait staff, especially our server Joy, was attentive and thorough. She made sure our mimosas actually were bottomless and made the meal a great experience. In addition the food was top notch. I had French toast, bacon, and breakfast potatoes - all of great quality. My wife had the Baltimore Benedict and said the crab was fresh and fantastic. Any time you are in the area I would say this should be a definite stop.

Surf and turf sliders are amazing! Fish tacos were a little bland but tender. Gyro was quite different but quality ingredients. The service was nice and they have outdoor seating.

"...where everybody know your name". Bistro Rx seems to be the Patterson Park version of Cheers. PP is a diverse neighborhood and this is a bar / restaurant for the yuppie crowd. If your new to the area, come here to meet great people and new friends. The food is good, but a bit overpriced for the portions and quality. The beer list is respectable. The decor is very cool and modern. The waitstaff is exceptionally good. Tip - order an appetizer for your meal instead of an entree. It's just as much food but cheaper. Also, come during happy hour (4-8) for flights of beer and wine.

We had come here for brunch like 2 years ago (which from what I can remember was fine), and we were looking for something local and happened to be driving by when we saw Bistro RX and figured we'd try the dinner. The interior is pretty nice and they did a good job with the space. One of the servers quickly cleaned off a table and wiped it down for us to sit (it was entirely too hot to sit outside although it did look nice with large candles placed on the sidewalk for lighting). It turns out that it was steak night, so for $15 I got the hangar steak w/ bordelaise sauce and asked for a side of vegetables instead of fries. My fiance got the Linwood burger with fries and my brother got the veggie burger with a salad instead of fries. What seemed like an eternity later, our food finally came out (and luckily we weren't parched because in that long wait, no one ever came back to fill up our waters). We then had to ask the waitress twice to fill up our waters, and she seemed to give us a "really?" look when we did so. I almost wanted to apologize for inconveniencing her. Looking at the food, the first thing I noticed was that the fries with my fiance's burger looked great. Second thing I noticed was that I had great looking fries on my plate instead of the vegetables I asked for (even though my brother, who had asked for a side salad instead of fries, got his side salad). At that point I was too hungry to even send them back, and plus, they looked pretty darn good. This was probably the ultimate "don't judge a book by its cover" moment. The fries, although looking beautiful, were barely seasoned and extremely crunchy, and tasted kind of like they had been sitting for awhile. I thought my steak was decent and the bordelaise sauce was nice. My fiance was not thrilled about her burger though, which she thought was small, especially in ratio to the bun. She said she had a hard tasting anything but bread. She was also unimpressed by the fries. My brother thought the veggie burger was decent, but he was neither blown away nor extremely disappointed. I rarely give out 2 stars to restaurants because I try to avoid places deserving of such a rating in the first place. That said, maybe it was an off night for Bistro RX, but the food was average at best and the service was definitely subpar (and this is coming from someone who is far from high-maintenance and is more than willing to give the benefit of the doubt). I'd give it a 3 for food, 2 for service, so more of a 2.5, but I definitely can't give this visit a 3.

Went here for dinner on Friday - I live in the neighborhood so I immediately compared it to Salt and I think Bistro Rx comes out on top. It's just a better atmosphere. Service was way better, it was totally less pretentious, and the menu just seemed more customer friendly.....what a person would want to eat, not a bunch of stuff the kitchen wants to cook for the hell of it. The wine selection was good (had a malbec), split some great apps (the fried green tomatoes were such a hit, we ordered a second serving), and I had the ribeye and scallops special which didn't disappoint at all! Only complaint was that my brother had to send his fish back since it didn't seem all the way cook through, but they were extremely apologetic and accommodating other than that. I'll be back VERY soon.

I used to live a 1/2 block from here, so this was my go to when I wanted to eat but didn't want to drive any where. I've been here for brunch, lunch, dinner... you name it. I even waded through hurricane waters once to eat here, because they were the only place that was open. For that, I am thankful. Everyone is SUPER friendly. The food: they rotate the food pretty much daily, so there's no real "go to" item on there, except for the burgers and some of the sandwiches. The burgers were always good, and the same goes for the ribs, cream of crab soup, and few other items I've tried there. The chicken/waffles at the brunch needs improving. My main complaint is that the food isn't good enough for the prices they charge. I would expect much better. THE VERDICT: If you live in walking distance or a short drive, it's a good option. I wouldn't make any special trip or go out of my way to eat here, though.

Came here for brunch a couple weeks ago. This is the only restaurant in walking distance from our house so we were really excited to try it. This place was so average. I got the florentine eggs benedict and my boyfriend got blueberry waffles. They were both so average. The potatoes were so fried, they were pretty gross. Nothing special about the food here, I wouldn't go back.

I love the fact this place isn't afraid of taking a risk, and a lot of things they do seem to be either with trend or attempting to set them a part from all of the rest of trend wine / beer bars. The setting in this place is awesome, exposed brick, double layers and really artsy, you will likely be able to even buy some of the art that's on the wall depending on the month and the artist they are endorsing. As for the selection of wine, there is a lot of options any wine drinker can respect, even the beer drinker will be impressed by the selection offered here. Food here is excellent, at first it was ify, but since they have changed chefs for all the right reasons. I has lucky to have bison in a blackberry sauce, with garlic infused mash and some greens. Honestly the slices were a surprise I was expecting a nice cut of meat, through the slices weren't that bad for the cost I wish I had a little more from my meal. I love this place I would highly recommend checking out their Facebook for their deals or daily menu!!

I've eaten here several times since I first reviewed it, and haven't experienced the same difficulty with slow service. I'm really impressed by their beer selections - last time they had La Fin du Monde on tap. The food continues to be the star - the cheese platter+ hippy dip (a loose herbed hummos) is something we order repeatedly, and I really enjoy the filet tips gyro. There's something woodsy and comforting about this place, and I'm impressed that they've been able to establish that energy after such a short period of time being open. Looks like Bistro is here to stay, and that makes me happy.

My wife and I went to Bistro RX on a random Tuesday night. We have been here before and the food was pretty decent and the service is good...but that was brunch. We were going for dinner. I love the location of this place and think that it is a great addition to Patterson Park. Something this park needs is a definite gathering spot to solidify the stance that the park is not all that bad. It does. The ambiance is great here and is usually filled with a younger crowd. On Tuesdays they have Wine and Prime night. Bottles of wine are half off and you can get a good prime rib dinner for roughly $15. They also have half off select appetizers. Tonight the cheese plate was half off. It was a huge and delicious cheese plate. There were 3 different wedges of cheese with grapes, strawberries, green apples and Pita Chips. This was 6 bucks! Totally worth it. We also went with a bottle of Pinot from Italy and I believe that was $12. For the meals, my wife got the bison burger and I got the new york strip sandwich. Both were good, but I could have eaten more of the appetizers and been just fine. We sat at the bar so I did take notice of the beers on tap. They had Allagash, Brooklyn Summer Ale, Resurrection...and a few others. There was no miller light on tap, so if you like that watered down crap, you are probably going to the wrong place. I believe next Tuesday I will be back here, at the same spot, with a different bottle of wine and some wonderful appetizers. I would recommend this restaurant especially to those that live around the park like I do. Screw the naysayers, Patterson Park 4 life. (Don't go in the park after the sun goes down.)

My girlfriend and I have had a great experience on every trip. The ribs and crab cakes are amazing and don't forget the deep fried Twinkies.

    (4)
  • Vickie S.

Well, deep-fried Twinkies on a menu can just make you stand up and say, "Well, hello there." The vegetarian options are indeed lacking - John H.'s review was totally correct on that point. Hummus, a portobello sandwich and mushroom ravioli (which were suspiciously uniform in that package way - I didn't actually taste those, though, so don't quote me on that). I wouldn't bother with the hummus if I were to order appetizers again. It's unremarkable. The almond-crusted tomato sandwich feels like a vegetarian gyro. It's alright but it felt anticlimactic for the price and given the rest of the menu. Friends adored the bison tartare and the mac and cheese with chorizo. Service was friendly and cordial, even with a large spastic party like ours. They were perfectly willing to go and come back about four thousand times for our various ordering and tasting of wines or beer or asking for recommendations. We were appreciative of that. The wine list is extensive, so you can play, but I didn't find anything we did drink as a standout (sorry). I'll go back for brunch, because I think sitting outside next to the park could be awesome with a Twinkie if I'm feeling brave, and just a full mug of coffee if I'm not.

Unfortunately, I have been here a few times since I lived Upper Fells Point at the time. I attempted several visits, but never came around to liking it as much as I expected. My first visit I went with a group of girls and only grabbed a small app, fried green tomatoes. They were good, but they didn't blow me away like Don't Know Tavern. However, I enjoyed the wine selection and was looking forward to my next meal at Bistro RX. I did take out--salmon BLT. It was so salty, I couldn't even finish it. I was so hungry and so mad! It was like they accidentally loosened the lid on the salt shaker and dumped the whole shaker on it. However, I'm not the person to just give up! Sometimes accidents happen, so I tried again a months later with my boyfriend. Our server was on another planet. We order the welsh rarebit app (super yummmy) and dinner. When we finished our appetizer, he asked us if we would like to check --- bt we hadn't even received our dinner yet. I grabbed the Brussels and Bacon Flatbread and he ordered a steak. My food was cold and hard. The steak was overcooked. We haven't been back since, but the good thing about Bistro RX is their menu changes with the seasons. If I find myself in the area or friends suggested going, I would go with an open-mind in hopes to have a great dining experience. Preferably Brunch since I haven't tried it here!

The food here is excellent. There were a lot of interesting options to choose from. The wine list prices are reasonable which we also really liked. The only thing I will say is that service did start out slow and our server really didn't come off as a friendly person at first, but she did warm up. I did notice a table that was seated near us did not get noticed for 20 minutes until the guy finally had to get up and get someone. They were very busy, but there aren't that many tables so that really is unacceptable. We will definitely be going back there and trying some of their week night specials!

This used to be THREE and the food, service and everything about this place was horrible. Once it was in new hands and became Bistro RX, I had reservations about giving it another go. I'm glad I did because the food and service is wonderful! It's a nice spot within walking distance of my home so getting there is no problem. In the summer, they do have outdoor seating that gets used almost all the time. I always see people enjoying a glass of wine when I walk through the park with my dogs. Their appetizers are the reason I keep coming back! The Tuna Carpaccio is amazing and the Surf & Turf sliders are a home run! I recently tried the Sweet Cheesus and the apple butter and brie make this item so sweet and creamy! For dinner I had the Roasted Turkey Quesadilla and WOW - the jalapeno pico de gallo makes this sandwich the best spicy bite! I needed a couple glasses of water to recover, ha! But the food and flavor of everything is amazing! Great place for a date night and they always have great specials every day of the week.

Having moved to the neighborhood last month, I've quickly established Bistro Rx as my go-to when I'm not feeling like cooking and/or walking far. It's got a very laid-back, familial vibe to it; it really seems like the majority of the patrons are from around the neighborhood, which is nice. It makes you feel ensconced, communal. It can get a bit crowded in here--there really isn't all that much seating, which isn't usually a problem if you're willing to sit at the bar. The food is pretty decent--they do a flatbread special that is (I think) on Mondays, but it would be a real plus to have it every night of the week. The half-priced wines on Tuesdays are the main reason to go, though--when you can get a decent bottle of wine for grocery store prices, you've gotta take advantage! The "special day" thing, though, can be a bit gimmicky--the concept reminds me of a college bar, and Bistro Rx is decidedly not that. All in all, though, the friendliness, the food, and the proximity will have me coming back again.

Bistro Rx has a larger menu than I was expecting along with quite a few specials. So, it made ordering tough. We selected from the specials menu the scallops and pork chop entrees. Both were decent. The pork chop was HUGE, well cooked but nothing extraordinary. The same for the scallops. I did like the sides. They were upscale home style dishes-- green been casserole and mashed potatoes. Great wine and beer selection, friendly service and comfortable setting.

As other reviewers have said, this is definitely a neighborhood place. I'm there pretty much once a week, but probably wouldn't go often if it weren't for the friendly neighborhood vibe and convenience of being just a few blocks away. They just hired a new chef and updated their menu. I'd have given the place four stars, but I've been twice since the new menu and haven't been happy with most of my food. The Pros: - Friendly service - Good vibe - Tasty wine at decent prices (especially with weekday specials) - The new Nachos con Puerko. YUM! - Rib-Eye with Aged Cheddar Sandwich (haven't had it since the new chef started, but this used to be really, really good) - The fries are my absolute favorite, especially when dipped in mayo. - The weeknight specials are generally a good deal. - Dessert portions are pretty big. - Sweet Home Alabama Pork Chop (Seriously, it's hard to find good sausage gravy in a restaurant.) The Cons: - Remember those fries I mentioned? Sometimes they are way too salty. - The new Crab Imperial Sandwich is not good at all. The texture is really unappetizing, and the crab is far from fresh. - The Roasted Tomato Caprese Salad is not worth the money, especially with the cheap tasting, too-sweet dressing. - The Triple Fudge Brownie is not fudgy enough. The brownie is eggy and bland. I'd rather have brownies from a $2 boxed mix. There's also not enough fudge sauce on the plate. - It took me until my last visit with it on the menu to try the deep-fried twinkie, and it was surprisingly delicious, but now it's gone :( - They just announced today that they won't be open for brunch on the weekends until spring. I was hoping to get some of that sausage gravy! I may have to hold out on my weekly visits for a while so they can work out the kinks in the new menu. It might be hard to pass up those flights of wine on Mondays, though.

Brought a group of 8 (which included 2 kids under a year old) here over Memorial Day Weekend and the Bistro did a bang up job taking care of us. The menu has been nicely updated with several new items and the specials were all very tempting. We had nachos and wings as appetizers, both were delicious and generous portion on the nachos. Everyone really enjoyed their entrees. I had the Pork Chop special and could not finish it as the chop was huge. Mashed potatoes and asparagus on the side sealed the deal. Looking forward to going back soon.

I love the location on the corner of the park. Seating outside is always a plus. Nice, friendly and efficient staff. Love, love the pitchers of Bloody Mary's. Not the best BM I have had, but a hell of a deal to get you going on a lazy Sunday! Food is very good. We have been back a couple of times. Done Brunch and a couple of afternoon bites/lunches here. Everything has been well done. They have some damn good wings with Monkey sauce. Mac & Cheese was also a winner. Excellent wine selection as well and good set of beer on tap. This place has does not knock my socks off, but it is very consistent and the team that works here is a very cool bunch. They recognized us after our first visit more than a week prior. Very impressive. With people like this I have to give them an extra star and score it a 4. Will be taking the kids and some friends this morning...will let you know how they do with a crowd!

We enjoyed our first experience to Bistro Rx so much we came back a week later. Everyone we encountered was pleasant, friendly, and enjoyable. Our table wasn't ready (but it was JUST our reservation time) so they "comped" us dessert. Totally unnecessary. We loved our waitress. She described the intricacies of the food expertly, so you really knew what you were getting. And, the food was as described. The beer and wine lists are extensive, and reasonably priced. The only problems with the meal were the baklava - not good - and the brownie sundae - dry. So, they do need to work on improving a dessert or two. We loved our two experiences at Bistro Rx and now will put it in the rotation of 'go to' places.

Brunch, not very busy when we walked on. Sat at the bar. Food took 40 minutes, bartender never checked in on us, refilled waters or coffee unless asked, and never updated us on our food and the wait. The food was below average(sadly, since the menu looks fun). Just the worst restaurant experience I have had in Baltimore, and I eat out at bars a lot.

I love Bistro RX. The wine list is amazing! They have a unique menu including flat breads and an extensive list of appetizers! The desserts are to die for. The Oreo cheesecake was epic. The only recommendation I would have would be more entree options. The prices are just right too. Not too much for a quality meal.

This review is only about their brunch. The one dinner we had there was fair. Brunch, however was totally meh. Coffee wasn't very good, the captain crunch French toast (does Blue Moon know about this?) was dry and unappealing, and my huevos rancheros were dry scrambled eggs atop tortillas drowning in sweet, tomato-pasty marinara!!! I ordered toast on the side and got an English muffin. My mother in law fared best with the hippie omelette. All in all, a waste of calories.

I've eaten here 3-4 times, nothing remarkable, nothing bad until yesterday. I will not be coming back and will be recommending to my friends to eat elsewhere. We arrived at around 1 PM, place was crowded but there were still some tables available. Sat, down and ordered. then waited. Then waited some more. Then more waiting. No food, it's past 2 PM, we've been waiting for food for over an hour. Not for a table, for the food that we had ordered an hour ago. We walked out. The waitress said nothing about the food being delayed, and we left. It should not be that difficult for managment to realize there is some sort of problem but an HOUR wait for food is unacceptable and should have been communicated.

First time at Bistro Rx and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Great wine list and beer selection. We came early Sunday afternoon and found a brunch menu available until 2:00pm. Limited choices but all looked wonderful coming from the kitchen. Brunch dress code was pajamas (I don't think so) and staff and several other patrons sported there finest sleepwear. Service was wonderful and staff was attentive and pleasant. Prices were reasonable, food and drinks good, comfortable atmosphere with an attentive staff. What's not to like? Looking forward to our next visit.

So while I still like this place, I do think it's taken a step back since the new chef took over. The menu is overall, far less interesting as far as the options and the actual quality of the cooking is down compared to the previous chef as well. Happy hour specials are better now, the flights of wine and beer make it a nice place to go if you want to drink for a reasonable price and have some decent food but overall not as taken with this place as I was previously. Service is always good though, never had a waiter who wasn't friendly and doing their best even though many times it seems like they are understaffed so the wait staff is overworked.

The menu was very limited but the food was good. I ordered the rockfish....as a dish it was delicious because of the crab sauce they created but the rockfish itself was just average. Stone IPA on tap never hurts. I would have given a higher rating (4) if I knew that the small menu was a gimmick and they rotated it daily. Prices were reasonable for the quality, service and proportions. I would go there again but would rank a lot of other Baltimore restaurants ahead.

On a random Tuesday evening with a party of 6 thirsty couples! We were seated very quickly and presented with specials and a great menu! I was blown away with the service. 5 out of he 6 of us ordered the steak special (flank stake, salmon BBQ bourbon) and all were so pleased! I ordered the salmon salad with French onion soup which was to die for! We also had 4 bottles of wine, 2 red and 2 white and they were fabulous! All and all it was a wonderful dinner with great friends! Highly recommend

Our first experience at Bistro Rx was actually good. Since we're big fan of the other place own by the same guy, Mahaffey's in Canton, we decided to try the new fancier bistro on Patterson Park. Kitchen is open till 10:00, while the bar is open till midinight. They have a decent selection of beers (for the best selection go to Mahaffey's pub), and a pretty good selection of wines. We got a good Nero D'Avola for the right price. We split an appetizer, the roasted goat cheese with caramelized onion and roasted tomatoes with crostini, that was really good. The entrees were Mushroom ravioli and the Filet. The ravioli were supposed to be in a brown butter sauce, but the butter was a little bland. The filling was very good. The filet was served with a crab and lobster sauce, very flavorful, and with some great mashed potatoes with caramelized onions. Definitely the best part of the dish. The meat was good, but the cooking temperature was completely wrong. Asked for medium, got a bloody piece of meat. Which I don't mind at all, but I don't understand what's the point of asking if then they do something different. And as i noticed from previous reviews it's a frequent problem. The waiter was very kind and friendly. Overall we liked the place, and we're definitely going to try it again, hoping to raise the rating from 3 to 4 stars.

Being a graduate student at Hopkins can do terrible things to you ... like mandatory happy hour every Monday. A group of us decided to try new bars/pubs/lounges/restaurants in Baltimore every Monday to get us through the fourth term of our first year. One of the group members, Claire, suggested Bistro Rx, and off we went! During happy hour, they have two special flatbreads that are not on the menu. The first Monday we went, they had a delicious 3-cheese onion chutney flatbread with capers that was out of this world. I'm yet to try it again (we've been back twice.) My friend Nick got the chorizo crab mac & cheese, which was also delicious. They have a decent selection of wines. That afternoon, I had a glass of the Ferrari-Carano Fume Blanc from Sonoma, which is lovely on a hot summer day. Three of us returned one weekday for lunch, and it was pretty delicious. I had the almond crusted tomato sandwich with portabella mushroom, roasted red peppers, and goat cheese. It was cooked to perfection, and surprisingly refreshing despite the mushrooms and almonds. My two friends had the Linwood and Bison burgers, and both had great things to say about them. Overall, definitely worth a visit. It hugs Patterson Park which makes for great people watching, or an after-dinner stroll.

I've been here a few times and I've never had a bad meal. Yes the outdoors seating is nice when it's warm out. Me and my dog love it but it's just as good in the winter. I love that the menu changes so there's always something new and fresh every season. Everything I've had there had been great. The service has always been great. The Irish cream creme brulee is outta sight. So even if you hate everything about this place it's worth the stop in just for that.

I'm here all the time as it is just 3 blocks from my house. I can always find something satisfying on the menu, and I usually know a few other diners. It's our neighborhood place, and I appreciate that the owner and staff go out of their way to make it such. Favorites on the menu are the crab and chorizo mac and cheese, the artichoke flatbread, the gorgonzola truffle fries, the rockfish, and the crab cakes (new version every Thursday). There are many tasty things on the menu though, so don't be afraid to "go with your gut". Desserts can be hit or miss. Order another drink instead. Updated: New Chef from Annabelle Lee! The truffle gorgonzola fries are "crack fries" now. Seriously can't stop munching. The food overall is better, and we're seeing new things on the menu. Give it a shot!

I live a few blocks from here, and frequent it often for the happy hour (same owner as Mahaffey's so the specials are the same), but I always avoided the food as I was never impressed by the food. I had heard there was a new chef in town (about 6 months) so we decided to try the food for dinner. I was very impressed. The appetizer we got was amazing (Ricotta Dumplings). I also got the Venison Burger (which was OK). My girlfriend got the flatbread which she said was good as well. I definitely recommend for those in the area looking for a local bar/restaurant. If you want to sit in their outdoor seating you have to get there early, or put your name on a list as they fill up quickly on nice days.

Lackluster. That's about the only way I know how to describe my experience with Bistro Rx. Everything from the lack of proper (or at some points any) customer service down to the food, it all just seemed to lack any conviction and just seemed uninspired. A few key experiences/ observations to note: * There was no hostess for brunch, so it took three to four minutes before a frazzled waitress event attempted to seat us. * Our server had little knowledge of the menu and seemed to not care that we were seated in his section. His general attentiveness to basic requests seemed to be seriously lacking. * The home fries were mushy, almost tasting undercooked. * The ONE redeeming quality to brunch: the Hangover Burger. Its delicious and the mix between the port salut cheese with the smoked tomato jam, sunnyside up egg and bacon made a pretty solid burger. * They do have bottomless Bloody Marys, mimosas and screwdrivers for $10. Overall, I'm glad I stopped in to try the Hangover Burger but meh, I've experienced better.

So I heard that they got a new chef and was hoping that the food would be better. I've heard people rave about the new chef and his creations. However, in my opinion, it's not. I ordered the ricotta dumplings, wood ear mushrooms, and the fiddle heads. The combinations sounds fantastic! However, the execution of this left a lot to be desired... It had a lot of weird textures going on, that ultimately not really that appetizing. Maybe I was expecting something different, but the dumplings were really mushy and bland. The fiddle heads were kind of tough. I tried to each both together so that I'd have a bit more bite to the bland, mushy dumplings, but that combination of tough fiddle heads + mushy dumplings doesn't work that well. It's so close that I will likely come back to give their food another shot, but try something different. Or maybe stick to drinks since (their $6 HH 3-fur deal is great) and their beer selection is reliable, unlike their food.

Went here for a late dinner with a friend and sat outside. It was my first time here so I'm not all that familiar with the inside atmosphere. Our waiter was an aspiring standup comedian, though, which was fun because I always love chatting up waiters/waitresses if they're game and I certainly got him telling us stories. I enjoyed the experience to be honest. My friend and I were able to sit outside and have a beer, which was alright. The selection is nothing to rave about, but it's a nice little place to hang and watch a football game while grabbing a drink and eating. WARNING - Vegetarians need not read further: After committing the unspoken dining no-no of getting the waiter's opinion on what was the best option on the menu, I decided to order the pork belly, which was cooked almost perfectly. The exterior was nicely crusted around a juicy layer of fat that encapsulated the tender meaty portion. It truly was an impressive meat dish for what appeared to be a simple meal. I'm big on meat being prepared the way it should, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the whole thing. My only hang up was that I finished still feeling legit hungry, which I couldn't really justify for the price. I also tried some of my friend's shrimp and grits, which were pretty tasty with a little spicy kick to them. So watch out if that's not your thing. All in all if I'm back in the area I'd go check it out again just to try something new.

Love this place, though more to drink than to eat. They have amazing drink specials (wine flights! beer flights! half price bottles! oh my!) and a great menu but I think I always end up with extremely high expectations that are never full filled. The menu is quite innovative, though I wish they'd tone it down and make it a bit simpler. Last time I was there I waited a long time for the smoked shrimp ravioli with pea butter and asparagus and it ended up coming out in a green soup. A lot of the food is very rich, which does not make my acid reflux happy. It's near my house so I will certainly keep going and trying different things there, with faith that I may add that final star at some point in the future.

The house cocktail was very sour. It is a combination of gin, lemon juice, and elderflower liquor. The lemon juice overwhelms this drink. The ricotta gnocchi with spicy lamb sausage is amazing. It is rich and flavorful. I will get this dish again & again. I recommend ordering it with a salad or to share, because it is heavy. The burger is a good size. It had a slight gas burner taste, perhaps from how it was cooked. The peach parfait is a lovely summer into fall dessert. It is not overly sweet and the flavors are well balanced. The customer service here is perfect.

The food and the service here is good. We come here about once a week, and we always thoroughly enjoy it. I like everything I have had on the menu.

I have to admit Bistro RX stepped up their game. New chef and more professional wait staff is all awesome. I have been twice with the new chef and was not disappointed. Its really pretty nice to have a decent local place near Patterson Park that you can walk to.

It's a little weird to have such an upscale place on the north side of Patterson Park. The ambiance is very nice but the food was nothing -special (French onion soup was way too salty - and I like salty). Some interesting beer on tap but that's it.

It was nice and small. The wings are DELISH. Everything else was good, but not amazing. I hope they can add more flair to their menu and up the staff (service was a little slow, but friendly). I love this location and would love to see the place thrive!

Wine was impressive but food and service was lack luster, I'd give it a second chance, though

This is a great place. Their menu is on the small side, but the entrees are tasty, especially the pulled pork. However, the best thing is their overall look and their wine and beer list, which is more than solid.

I feel that I should like this place more than I do and I want to like it more than I do. Nice wine list, affordable, decent food yet it did not excite. Hopefully with a few more visits it will grow on me.

Yesterday I visited Bistro Rx for brunch. I was very excited to order the chicken and waffles for my friend raved about how delicious they were when he had the dish the previous week. When my waitress (who delivered excellent service by the way) delivered my chicken and waffles I couldn't believe that the chef had the nerve to send her out with that dish. I asked my friend if his dish was as charred the previous week and he assured me that his food looked much more appetizing and was not burned as my dish was. I asked the waitress to take the dish back and explain to the chef that it was burned. The chef then sent the waitress back to me to tell me that unfortunately when he recooked my dish it wasn't going to look much different than the original dish she brought out. I explained to Dana that I too cook and either the chef's grease was dirty, or he was cooking the chicken breasts for too long (as white meat doesn't need to cook as long as dark meat). I even took pictures to capture just how unappetizing the meal looked when it was brought to me burned not once, but twice. The chef also suggested that I taste the inside of the chicken, insinuating that it would make up for the burned skin, and I had to remind them that in order to taste the inside I needed to eat through the burned outside. Needless to say, I ended up sending the chicken and waffles back the second time and settled for the steak and eggs. In addition to the chicken and waffles situation, the kitchen ran out of cheddar grits before noon (although they opened at 10a.m.). In all, the only things that were pleasant about yesterday's visit were the $15 pitchers of mimosas and my waitress.

I was there couple of nights ago for the first time. Liked the atmosphere. We ordered several appetizers and all were very good. The Mac n Cheese was especially good.

We went to Bistro RX for a New Years Eve dinner with my husband and 2 friends. We tried the tartar and flat bread as an appetizer and both were delicious! We also had the special of the day cream of crab soup and it was the best cream of crab soupd I've ever had. I had the chicken dish and my husband had the steak. Both were very good! Hilghly recommend!. When it came down to the dessert I was disappointed. We ordered the NYE special brownie and it was dry and tasted as if they just took it out of a plastic wrap and plopped it on a plate. Our friends however shared the moose trio which was delicious and I wish we got the same thing! Over all this restaurant was very good and I would recommend going there for a special occasion or a romantic dinner.

Went there the first Sunday since it's been open. It was still packed. The prices are very reasonable - $9 for an excellent plate of burger and fries! Beer, wine, and liquor selection are on-point and expansive. Food shows signs of creativity, skill, and quality ingredients. The service was really superb. Great building at a fantastic location. and let's face it Mahaffey's a proven and successful bar owner who will attract customers up from Canton - now following up on the string of successes in the wine bar trend (13.5 and Vino Rosina). Went with my son, wife and my parents and we all had a great time at the outdoor table we were lucky to snag right there on the edge of the park entrance still under reconstruction. I look forward to going back to order a bottle of wine or one of craft beers on tap at happy hour and also get some appetizers while relaxing amid the activity and beauty of that popular parkside location. I think the community is now really eager to have more quality outdoor restaurants and upscale bars like this facing directly onto a beautiful public park.

Great atmosphere! I ate here on a Saturday afternoon lunch. We sat outside and enjoyed a good breeze. Though the menu isn't loaded, everything was delicious! I suggest trying the hummus appetizer, and the burgers were great! Don't be afraid of the adventurous ingredients, everything was delicious! Especially the fries!

I really like the layout of this place. It's like you're in someone's home and the overall feel is pretty cozy. The wine list was decent and our food was enjoyable. I wasn't super impressed with the flatbread pizzas they have (ours was a bit greasy and thrown together) and my pulled pork sando was a mess to eat. But the service was A-Ok and the noise level was mild...a bit on the expensive side for what you get. I've heard the brunch is good so I'll hopefully check that out soon.

Went here recently with some friends who live in the neighborhood. Solid beer list, had some great stuff (try Old Chub!) so the night started off on the right foot. Had some wings and a few bits of the mac & cheese appetizers, both were good. Mac & cheese could have used a little more mac and a little less cheese, but the taste was great. Had the bison steak for dinner which was quite good. Very nicely cooked, gorgonzola mashed potatoes I think were pretty good, my wife kept stealing them from my plate so I didnt get to eat much of them. The only downside was the aus-jus that came on the side of the steak; tasted like A1 steak sauce that had gone bad. I just ate around it and was fine. Would definitely go back to try some of the other things on the menu that looked good.

Really enjoyed Bistro Rx. Food was great, nice friendly atmosphere and enough people in there so it had a fun vibe on a Sat night. I had the pulled pork sandwich. Seriously yummy. My husband had ribs and cake. He loved the ribs and thought the crab cake was OK. My only real criticism is that since it's owned by Mr. Mahaffey I expected better draft beer list. There were a couple of nice Belgian Styled beers so we were fine. Definitely go back for the food, there's still Mahaffey's to visit if we want really great beer.

Great service and great ambience. I think the food is hit or miss. I'd would give it 2.5 stars if I could. I've visited 4 times over the past several months since it's in my neighborhood. I had a really good salad that had goat cheese in it but my friend ordered Thai chicken wings that were so salty that we had to send them back. My next visit I had a great black bean burger that they since taken off the menu. My third visit, I had a pesto-artichoke flat bread that arrived cold, crust underdone and so much cheese on it that it didn't have much flavor other than the cheese (I was at the bar during a happy hour so it was half price.) My last visit, I had the fish tacos. It was a lot fish, overly seasoned/salty with a nondescript sprinkling of lettuce tomato in a rubbery flour tortilla served with a side of bland pico de gallo and tortilla chips. A sea of white and brown :-( It was pretty disappointing and a waste of $15 (with tax and tip.) It's probably best to stick with tried and true bar food if you go here. I'm willing to keep trying since it's close to where I live. And maybe they'll bring the black bean burger back!

Service was 2 star, but everything else was five star. the food and beverage list was amazing. We had the Pom Wings to start with and they were the best thing i have ever tasted. For entrees we had the sea bass with blood orange balsamic glaze served with crab risotto and broccolini and the sangria salmon with parmesan risotto and wilted spinach with a sauce that tasted like sangria. Both were yummy. the building was packed and we had our apps in less than 10 minutes and entrees 15 minutes after that. i look forward to becoming a regular here.

This location has struggled to find it's owner for the past 7 years or so (first known as the Parkside, then Three, and now Bistro Rx), but it's always had its niche of loyal clientele. I'm glad to report that the food under the current owners and brand of Bistro Rx is the best yet. The bison burger, in particular, is extremely good and reasonably priced.

A brief update -- the new chef seems to have improved the menu. I had a flatbread that has been on the menu in the past, but the quality was much higher than before -- not soggy, and more topping (though not so much as to make it droop). My friend had the trout and said it was amazing. So I think it's getting better and better!

I predict this place will become an asset to Patterson Park if it continues on this current path of excellence. I had the Chenin Blanc with the Roasted Strawberry and Spinach Salad: AMAZING!!!! My Friend had some kind of tap beer and the Portabella Mushroom Sandwich: SOOO GOOD! -1: their fries were good but not as crispy as I like. They claim they were fried in peanut oil, but the peanut flavor was undetectable. I was skeptical at first, but this place prepares simple, but delicate dishes without being pretentious. I think I will make this my new inexpensive spot to eat after work.
