So, I just went to the new location and it was great to see a couple of the same friendly staff from the West Annapolis spot. My first impression was, hoo boy, this is a big space to fill--I would say 3 times the size from before. And with only 5 people eating, they are going to need to pick up business if they are going to make this work. I am sure this is too far out of the way for many of the old regulars--traveling on Rt 50 is not a pleasant experience for me so I won't be going nearly as often, but hopefully enough people will be able to make the switch. Regina's is worth going out of the way for, if only for the breakfast potatoes which are by far the best in town. They actually cook real potatoes themselves (imagine that!) and peel them (can you believe it??) and fry them up fresh with onions in a pan instead of dropping some Orida-esque frozen bag of cubes into a tub of oil or microwave or oven... That being said, the rest of the breakfast was just as spot on as before, however, I forgot to ask for my toast dry and if you are not a fan of margarine (as I am DEFINITELY NOT!!) then beware that they will automatically put that obnoxious, artificial, orange concoction on. But this is an easy fix, they have real butter available so it is just something I always have to remember and the old synapses ain't what they used to be...sigh... The décor is fun and super pub kind of casual with lots of rustic wood, western decorations and tv's. I'm not sure that the vibe will attract the patrons who loved going to Regina's in groups for get togethers. I guess only time will tell. I'm sure hoping for the best because it would be a real loss for our area if Regina's did not make it and I wish them the very best of luck. I will be there when I can brave the drive...
