I love Nando's! I'm so glad that I found this place because it has delicious chicken and is an excellent choice for a quick bite in the mall. It is located off the beaten path too so it usually isn't as packed as the food court. I have been to Nando's several times now and everything that I have ordered has been amazing. The staff is friendly and attentive and I have always had good service.

I love the decor. I feel the system needs to be fine tuned. I'm not sure if this is a fast food place or a restaurant. The Chicken was delicious. It doesn't seem to matter if you are getting mild or hot. All of the chicken will have a little kick to it. Garlic bread was also very good. I didn't care too much for the rice. Sangria was ok. I've had better but this was more than adequate. I wouldn't call it much of an atmosphere. But I did go on a Monday. Overall, I would recommend Nando's as a good place to eat.

I've been thinking of trying nando's for the longest time. So it was nice to finally go. Their chicken is really good as everyone says. It not really and order type of place because you have to go to the register, order, pay, pick up your own condiments, etc. The staff was very helpful. Everyone from the Manager to the busboy came by to make sure we were good. I love good service, so I can get with it. I wish I could give it a 3.75 rating. I'd come back tho.

I love this place, or I should say Nando's Peri Peri in general. I have loved their product since I first tried it. We had great service here. We ordered: -Hummus with Peri-Peri Drizzle -- Thought this was pretty lame. I wouldn't order this. -Butternut Squash and Grilled Corn -- Pretty good, this reminded us of some other cuisine. The butternut squash was sweet and was paired well with the spicy flakes. Yum! -Chunky Portuguese Medley -- The feta cheese brought out more flavor in the food. -1/4 chicken with cole slaw and red mashed potatoes -- I added the Wild Herb sauce which help seasoned the dish. I don't think the dish needed help, but it is what I was craving. -White Chardonay from South Africa -- name unknown.

I really like the freshly cooked chicken. You can choose the different flavors you want it cooked. Even if you're afraid to go too spicy, go for a lower level of heat and use one of their sauce bottles to eat. The hummus is by far the best. If you have not had it before, or have had others, you have to at least try theirs. Very tasty and peri peri sauce bottles to add as much or as little as you want to it. The pita chips are soft and warm. I could eat a salad bowl of this stuff!!

The newest restaurant to take up occupancy at the Annapolis Westfields mall is a South African-Portuguese cuisine, entrance by Sears and Border's Books. Boasting bursting flavors of the continent that uses hot, spicy and sweet flavors combined to tantalize the palette, Nando's Peri-Peri is a freshing addition to the bland mall fare. The menu provides ample selection for both vegetarians and carnivores. Their menu gives everyone a choice from their famous marinated & fresh grilled chickens to unusual dishes like their Butternut Squash & Grilled corn, which is spicy and sweet at the same time. Sauces with varying degrees of heat intensity are provided on the self-serve sideboard to kick-up your food flavor if it isn't quite the intensity you desire. The restaurant is casual where you order at a cashier, are provided with beverage glasses for you to fill at the fountain station and take a seat to wait for a runner to bring your order. They do have a nice selection of wines to pare with your spice fare. One great feature I liked is the open area sink for washing hands prior to your meal near the fountain drink area. Encourages one to think about hygiene prior to sitting down to eat. And, you don't have to use the restroom where most people don't really wash their hands after using the toilets and then touch everything on their way out. yeech. Interesting to note: the artwork is done by commissioned artists through an artists co-operative supported by the Nando's ownership.

2 years ago I came across this gem in London, and I can't believe the only Nando's in the US at the moment are in MD/DC...what luck! Having been here far too many times already, I know that ALL of the food they offer is NOT 5 stars...but I'll tell you what is... The hummus but WITH the pepper oil they give you to drip over it. The french fries are awesome. The mashed potatoes are some of the best I've ever had. The 1/2 (1/4 tends to be smaller here) chicken cooked to your heat liking (careful with heat though, even medium can sizzle my palette right off some days...) Try to stray away from other things like the rice(its nothing special at all, rather bland... so if I do in fact get it, I drown it in one of the 100000 available condiments), or weird salads. I tried the chicken sandwich and couldn't decide on it...nothing special in the end. I might even try their beef-incorporated meals next visit...should be interesting. In conclusion...follow these directions and you will have an amazing experience here.

We came here with a Groupon (which was happily accepted, I'll note) and really enjoyed it! Nando's spicy sauces strike a good balance between heat and flavor; they complement the chicken very well and are not "hot for the sake of hot," which always disappoints me. I got the chicken sandwich on the Portuguese roll. While good, I should have done the "Double the Chicken" thing, as one breast didn't stand up to the roll. My wife really enjoyed her wrap, and the single breast was the appropriate amount. The sides ranged from fine (Portuguese rice) to very good (fries and "macho peas"). They even serve beer and wine, which is great! For dine-in, they use real dishes, glasses, and silverware which I thought was nice and "green" of them. The hybrid counter/sit-down service is a little weird, but I think they'll work the kinks out soon enough. Bottom line, Nando's is a real winner, and I imagine it will be our go-to place for lunch while shopping at the Annapolis Mall.

My husband and I split a whole chicken meal with smashed peas and potatoes and it was great. I also had a red sangria that was sweet, tasty, and made me wish I had ordered a pitcher rather than a glass. I'll have to try that during their 1/2 off sangria happy hour sometime. The hot sauce for the chicken is pretty spicy. Our food was hot and fresh and I really enjoyed it, especially the chicken. I wish we could get the squash as a regular side, but we passed it up because even the large sides can really only feed 2 people. I noticed at this visit that they also have frozen yogurt now. No toppings, but it was still all you can eat. I like the decor at Nando's and how you get to eat with real silverware and glassware. It is a notch above Panera and a notch below a full-service restaurant. Perfect for a night out with friends or a casual date night.

Good chicken at reasonable price in a clean environment. We got the chicken medium spicy and it wasn't spicy at all. Then again my tolerance is higher than average. I liked the sides quite a bit as well. Good mashed potato and mashed peas. I liked their sauce options. Their sauces are in a bottle and you can bring them to your table. We also liked their flavored iced tea. I will not order again their spiced mixed nuts. They were on the stale side.

Picked up some lunch today from Nando's. I got the chicken pita sandwich, side of fries and corn. Boyfriend got 1/4 chicken, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The pita sandwich was good, nothing special, but good. Fries are off the hook, corn is, well, it's corn. You got a whole cobb. The chicken was very tasty, though a bit on the small side, however, they make up for that in the sides. Small sides are definitely more than enough to fill you up. The mashed potatoes were GOOD! Coleslaw, didn't try, but the bf said they were good as well. Tried the macho peas while in the store, and they tasted pretty good. Don't know about the fact they are over 300 calories, however, for a side of them. All in all, it's a good restaurant, just nothing spectacular. I'd be going to that place a LOT more often if they had some different side options, like black beans. I love good chicken. :)

This was a disapointing dinner. We have heard great things about this place, but after the meal I had for $23.00- I probably wont go back. We ordered Quarter chicken with 2 sides. Sadly the quarter chicken is a quarter of a cornish hen, not a full chicken. So you get a few bites of chicken and it's gone. The Corn on the cob ( which they charge almost $3.00 for) was all dried out and burned from the grill. The only saving grace was the hot mashed potatoes! God they were good. I dont know if the food wasn't great because they have only been open a couple days, and they are still getting the cooking down, but i wont be in a hurry to try again.

First time eating here & I was a little disappointed. Half price Sangria pitchers for happy hour but the taste of the red sangria wasn't the best. Chicken is basically the only thing on the menu with not enough variety (at least for me). If I visit again it'll be for take out only... Not dining in.

I ate here for the first time, and it was a cool little place. I actually have been over-seas, so when I saw "pili-pili", I was excited to try it out. The food is pretty good and refreshingly unique. A nice change to your typical mall food, and not as exclusive as legendary steaks. The service was good, but the whole ordering process was too complex. You sit down to decide what you want, then you have to go to the counter to order your food. If you don't remember your table number, you have to revisit your table before finally going back and to sit down. The food is bussed out via server. I filled my own drink the first time and then it was filled by the server the second time. I'm not sure the whole point of this. I feel like there should be some decisiveness about whether Nando's wants the customer to serve themselves or be served. I questioned why the place was empty right before a dinner on a Sunday night. My assumption is that a drop in price and a decision on service style would make it much more popular.

It was okay. Don't really like the way you have to order at register then food is brought out. Noisy. Food was okay, mostly chicken menu. Medium hot sauce was excellent.

Looks like we had a bad first experience. Gave it another go and we both had the butterfly chicken breast. It was a much bettr experience overall... Staff was very friendly, manager checked in on all the tables, and the food tasted much more like something we might be willing to come back for this time. Specifically liked the peri-peri garlic sauce. Great stuff. Thought it was only fair to come back and update accordingly.

Fantastic chicken, Sides and desserts. Believe them when the describe levels of "heat". Their Hot is hot. And their extra hot is amazing. The macho peas are wonderful and even better chilled the next day. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I feel for the owners of this place-be it a corporate entity or a couple of folks who have invested their life savings in hopes of realizing a dream..... It's obvious that a ton of capital has been expended on the location and the build out. And although the signature chicken wrap that I ordered was more lettuce than chicken, the food, in my humble opinion, remains pretty damned good (my wife loves the couscous chicken salad, btw). It's the staff and the management that will ultimately do this place in. It starts with a vacuous and self important hostess who refuses to seat us in a booth, even though there were at least four readily visible booths that were unoccuppied and waiting to be bussed. We were with my 4 year old daughter and my nephew who possesses very special needs, and they manage much better in a booth. When I asked the hostess about the unoccupied booth immediately adjacent to the table she insisted on seating us at, she replied that someone had been sitting there and it needed to be bussed, and she hurriedly walked away so she could station herself at the door and wait ten minutes for the next guest to wander in. One of the very kind bus boys took the initiative and eventually helped us move to a booth. It's really frustrating when the implied motto, amongst staff at least, seems to be the customer is always wrong! We also noticed that the hostess and a waitress seemed to be chatting and laughing at our expense. I won't be patronizing this place again.

Chicken was dry and cooked too long...possibly sitting under heater too long. Manager was nice and said she would give coupons, but after bathroom experience afterwards I won't be coming back. My stomach was messed up terribly and i usually eat spicy foods!!

I found Nando's to just be OK. Sorry to the fans of this place but the chicken just didn't seem that spectacular to me. We both had the 1/2 chicken, one medium and the other hot spicy. The chicken wasn't dry but just didn't taste like anything I couldn't have done on my backyard grill (just add the Nando's sauce). Great décor but a little over the top for a place that is self serve. We came in late in the evening and a sign at the door said to proceed directly to the counter. Apparently I was supposed to pick out a table number along the way because that's the first they thing ask you. I also thought they would bring the utensils to the table, wrong again. I guess being a first timer I would have expected someone to explain how the place operates. If I had my choice between upscale décor and so-so chicken or foam plates, basic décor, and awesome chicken, I'd choose Sardis over this place any day.

I am a huge fan of Nando's chicken. I love spicy food, and I always get a quarter or a half chicken (depending on how hungry I am...normally the quarter is enough) and fries and garlic bread. Then I grab a bottle of their sauce from the shelf (right now the garlic peri peri sauce is my favorite) and douse everything down. The food is always consistent and the flavors are wonderful! The service is always quick, too. For me, this is almost an alternative to Cane's restaurants, which don't exist in DC (yet). Nando's and Cane's are certainly different in their own right, but the concept of chicken, fries, bread, and addicting spicy pinkish-red sauce is there. That's what drew me in originally, and I've loved it ever since.

Love the food and love that there is one in Annapolis (closer to home since I've started to not be a fan of the Dupont location). The food is great and the service at this location is awesome - I've been for carryout a few times and dining in - in fact I plan on going tonight while in Annapolis!

Wow- so disappointed!! I got a salad with chicken to go. It took 20 minutes for my food to get ready. It wasn't busy at all and my order kept getting pushed to the waste side. The chicken was very rubbery and the salad was very boring. Don't waste your $!! Will never go back!

When it comes to the local mall I have to rely on word-of-mouth advertising. I'm a web-consumer - I don't buy anything in a brick and mortar store if I can get it online and avoid Owe-Malley's 6 percent sales tax (and the mall itself). So had a friend not have told me about this place it could be open and closed before I knew about it. D Food Snob loves new places - even if it is a fledgling chain owned by a corporate monolith (Trailer Trading Group who specializes in bringing unusual foreign foods to the US). So in true fashion after doing some web-research I found their website and was happy to see they offered online-ordering . Your basic meal here will be chicken with one of 4 degrees of spice / heat level from plain which still has their version of the portugues-ish spice mix Piri Piri (which they choose to use the less conventional Peri Peri label); plain, medium, hot, and extra hot (details can be found on their website) with one or two of their variety of sides. There is a steak option and a veggie burger option but that isn't really what Nando's is about - it's about the grilled chicken. I opted for the extra hot 1/2 chicken having no threshold at all for heat levels in food. I added an appetizer of hummus and pita and got the 'chunky Portuguese salad' as a side (which had no description - I don't usually ask - surprise me). The 'salad' was actually a twist on a greek salad with no lettuce. It had feta, red & green peppers, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, both black and green olives, and celery and comes with a olive oil & vinegar dressing. The celery I could do without but otherwise this was good and for $3.95 basically a full serving not really a side. Honestly after having my pita & hummus and that salad I didn't have much room for the chicken though I did try it before assigning it to dinner duty later. The hummus was non-plus - it wasn't bad and it wasn't earth shattering - it was as I would have expected. I noticed another reviewer mentioned the pita wasn't really grilled and they're right - it wasn't - it was just warmed and needed some crisping time on the grill - I'm going to provide them with that feedback post this review. As for the chicken the extra hot is very much that - very hot - at least for the average consumer it would be. The chicken was a good size and I'd say from a 3-3.5 lb bird not like the 'cornish hen' size another reviewer mentioned. While I was in the store I saw an eat-in chicken go by that was the same size so that reviewer either got very unlucky or needs a new prescription - size was not an issue in my experience (the chicken that is - don't go there!) It had a good grilled flavor for an indoor and I suspect gas grill and both the white and dark meat were juicy and perfectly cooked. As for the 'piri piri' I've had better and more authentic (like in a real Portuguese home) so this is 'dumbed down' a bit for your average American burger and fry type palates. It had decent flavor but it was overly hot and that ruled the entire experience. It was more hot than flavorful and that balance can be achieved if done properly - this however wasn't done properly. Don't get me wrong - it was good - but they may want to go back to the lab with the 'extra hot' spice mix. As for service my order was ready on time but the place was fairly empty when I was there (pre noon) so I can't speak to how they handle crowds. The restaurant itself still has that new restaurant smell. They have a patio outside and inside is nicely appointed and has a more upscale restaurant feel to it. The staff is clearly trained to do the 'meet and greet' with every customer so I got about 6 hellos before I got to the take out counter - I really dislike this tactic restaurants use. I'm here to eat not add friends to my Facebook page. Just be courteous and I won't' think you're being disingenuously friendly to a total stranger you may never see again as long as you live. They'll get that feedback from me as well as I count points off for it - no fault of the staff - this is a management issue. In summary I liked this place - it's a solid 3 stars and if you're hankering for chicken of a slightly different ilk Nando's can deliver. It's not cheap- my lunch was nearly 17 bucks albeit I did get an starter and a 'deluxe' side. I'll be back- the nice thing about this location is that it is on the exterior of the mall and OH I almost forgot they have parking spots for take-out customers. I LOVE that - big points! Now if they would do away with those gigantic bill-board-in-a-bag takeout bags I'd be really happy. I hate advertising to everyone on the planet for free what I'm having for lunch. Nando's does reek of an over-managed corporate turnkey food chain but even in that league my first Nando experience was a good one and I'll be back someday to tersely scrutinize them again! Not remotely humbly submitted this day, Yours in harsh criticism D. Food Snob, Ph.D

I ordered a chicken pita (medium) with a side of spicy rice. It was delicious! The pita was full of cilantro, red & yellow peppers and spring greens. The chicken was not dry at all and it definitely stood out. The rice was great; definitely not an afterthought. It wasn't mushy & I had a pretty good serving size. The sauces were delicious and flavorful but spicy, especially the 'very hot' so make sure to put the sauce on the side or taste it before putting it on your food!

Good quality food with friendly staff. Not quite as good as Karachi's Nando's but will go back for sure. They need an extra-hot sauce as well as a XX-hot sauce. Love the fact that they provide real glass tumblers for sodas and drinks - major kudos for that!! If you have never had peri-peri sauce you will be hooked after one visit. Love the decor and ambiance - nice high ceilings and great light - even in a mall-connected restaurant. Better than a food court for sure!! They have family-style meals - just get the Whole chicken - economical. One negative - Don't like the semi-service style where you are seated, then go order, then they serve you the food - a little confusing when you are seated and then read the menu and then have to get up and order - dudes just pick one way or the other - the fusion style service is just weird.

I went with a friend to use the coupon (thanks again, Nando's for your most generous gift) Bottom line: the food was great, but there is still that nagging problem of organization. To explain: We shared the lemon/herb chicken which was plenty flavorful and spicy... very juicy and had a lovely crunchy skin--excellent! The corn on the cob was to die for--apparantly they cook it on the grill with the chicken and it picks up the subtle flavor of the sauces--wow. The mashed potatoes were ok, but I HATE skins in there. Why the public has bought into this nasty trend which is strictly out of laziness, I will never understand, but that is my prejudice and I don't apologize for it. However, the french fries were SUPERB! The review in the Capital paper mentioned that they were not crispy enough. Well, they must have responded because they were perfect. And we ordered them with the perinaise dip which was SO yummy. The portion was enough for a small army of gladiators and still we pretty much polished them off. The topper from my order was the chicken wrap with yogurt sauce and chili jam --such an unusual combination and absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! One suggestion would be to use a different lettuce--like iceberg or bibb--or cut out the hard center rib of the Romaine. It was just a bit too tough and bitter. Otherwise, this qualifies as one of the best sandwiches I've ever had and will definitely be a drawback for me. So, for the organization problems: My order arrived with mashed potatoes instead of fries. Then the waitress was going to take my whole plate away leaving me to watch my friend eat alone. I pulled the plate back and said "no, just bring me the fries." She was very sweet and accommodating but obviously not well trained. And thank goodness I did not let her take my other food because it was quite a long time before the fries arrived--I had prettty much finished the rest of my dinner. Then--and this is really funny--another waitress came by with 2 plates of our orders and stood there with a puzzled look on her face. Finally she asked, did you guys by any chance order more? Noooo...I think you have a kitchen organization problem. I know these kinds of things happen frequently with new restaurants. I hope they figure it out because they really are a group of welcoming people who want to please. They have the right concept and some delicious food. They just need some tweaking in their system. I highly recommend the food and I will definitely be back on my own dime again!

I've been wanting to try this resturaunt for some time now after seeing the menu in a class. Well this past rainy Saturday while hanging out in the mall I decided to try something new. Cute place, carryout, family friendlyish. I had a quarter chicken (dark) with one side of spicy rice. The cost was roughly 7 bucks. The chicken was tasty, there was certainly a kick. I thought it was seasoned nicely. There were options of sauces with ranging levels of heat. I opted out of the heat and went with the lemon and herb. Although the rice was tasty, the combo of the rice with the chicken was too much for me. Too much spice for me ....my nose is still running. If there is a next time, I will be trying the coleslaw as a slide. Struck me as weird that one of the listed sides was garlic bread. Bread is usually an extra not a side. It must be fabulous to be a side. I feel that the side dish portion of the menu could use a little more innovation. Chicken was worth a second trip.

Okay, I walked in with my wife for lunch and the waiter tried to explain their proprietary ordering and pick up service...we were hungry, not their for a lesson. I'm sure it's not all that complex but, he made it seem that way. Seems like it made less work for them and more for us. The waiter had good luck attitude and then told us orders would take longer than normal because their kitchen wasn't up and running yet. Sooo, why are you open? The whole thing was a turn off. I like the name of course so maybe we'll give a try again. Seems a little on the pricey side, especially considering their system. How about I order and you bring it to my table. What a novel concept!

A nice surprise - a South African chain from Europe serving Portuguese chicken from Mozambique.\ Fast casual setting where you order at the counter and get served. Nice and hip environment. Focus is on a grilled, basted chicken - sort of a cross between Peruvian chicken and what the Kiwanis guys sell on the way to the beach. The medium had a nice kick but I might try the hot next time. Also, a lot of attention to detail on the sides - everything from the nuts to the frozen yogurt bar. And surprise, surprise, nice selection of moderately priced wines ($5-6) from Portugal, South Africa and elsewhere

Glad to see some foreign franchises (Its a South African chain) making it in the USA, so many good food were missing out. Nandos is very good, its not got a huge menu, but it does grilled chicken and quite well. The marinades are good, chicken is very tasty with their peri-peri sauce, and the restuarnant has a very comfortable atmosphere. It is a little pricier than your average franchise, but its certainly unique chain and food you cant find easily. Any form of the grilled Chicken peices recommended, but also the red pepper dip was delicious. They also had good portuguese rice as a side order, so you can eat a bit healthier than just fries. Chicken, rice, pepper dip...Everything was good quality, taste... The only thing I dont recommend is the sandwhiches.. I tried a wrap there, was pretty bad. Stick with the basics, chicken+sides....those are really good and thats really what the place focuses on.

I think it's a great quick lunch spot. It's a little more expensive than most places in it's class, but it delivers more for your money. The chicken and spices are unique and the quality is high. They aren't afraid to use spice, so you might want to tread lightly your first time if you are sensitive. All of the food is fresh and the environment is clean and comfortable. It's easy to walk out full from this place. I highly recommend.

I think this place is fantastic! Their restaurant looks beautifully decorated with awesome lighting and interesting pieces to go with their look from Portuguese. The staff greets you at the door and sits you at a table with a number card. After that you go to the cashier and order. I got 1/4 of a mild chicken. (I was only going there for a quick bite) It was a good size, they gave a bit too much bone for me though. The mildness was spicy but I loove spicy food. If you aren't into spicy food, this place isn't for you. They do have other alternatives like pita sandwiches, sides like fries and salads. But they do have the lemon-grass seasoning for the chicken too and it's my friend's favorite! You can pick from a selection of sauces to go with your chicken. Once again it's in order of spiciness (Garlic, Mild, Hot, etc.) Since my friend had a stamp card, we got free frozen yogurt as a desert. Basically everything is self-service except they do bring the food to your table. There is a handy sink near the counters when chicken eating gets messy. They have a drink dispenser, self-serve frozen yogurt machine, and a separate counter for forks, spoons, knives, sauces, and napkins. The staff is nice and since it's new not too many people are there on a weekday night..but I can say that I have seen it busy on Friday. One time they had fresh whole wing samples in front of their restaurant. Their new, so I guess it's all about getting to know the people around the area. Overall, give it a try! Give the place another year or so, it'll be a biggg hit! SO MUCH BETTER THAN CHICKEN FAST FOOD. AT THE SAME PRICE.

I absolutely loved the food, but what made my experience at this Restaurant was the friendly people who work here. One of the main servers Donaldo, had a great attitude and was very understanding when I wanted to change my side order even after it already came out. He had a smile from the beginning of my visit and when we were leaving. That's true Customer Service Donaldo, CONSISTENCY! !!! Kudos to the clean environment and the people who used the art as the main decor for the restaurant. Very unique, great food and a wonderful fleet of amazing service people. Vanessa

Seeing as though this was my first time eating here, I was a bit confused about the lay-out. I soon discovered from the hostess that you can either dine in or carry-out. I went to the register to place my order, but a menu wasn't displayed. They had a menu posted outside of the restaurant and luckily I glanced at it to decide on something. I kind of wish that they had an actual menu located over the register so I could see my options. I have a good memory, so I ordered the chicken wrap, with a side of French fries. The chicken wrap was pretty tasty and flavorful, nothing to really get excited about. The fries were just average and could stand to be seasoned a bit more. I actually want to come back and partake in their happy hour specials. I believe it's 1/2 price pitchers of sangrias daily. Not to mention, I want to try out some of the other chicken dishes they have to offer. My stomach can't handle spicy items, so I'm glad that they offer mild versions of their normally spicy dishes. The staff were all pleasant and courteous, the restaurant was clean and welcoming and the food options were rather interesting. As the Terminator would say, "I'll be back!" lol!

The first time I saw a Nando's, I figured it was just another rotisserie chicken place. It took a second glance at their menu to realize that they are a Portuguese restaurant with quite a diverse and interesting range of dishes! This particular location is an exciting addition to the mall, another seated dining option outside of the food court. It's a comfortable and attractive restaurant with plenty of room for small or large groups. I find the Nando's combination of seated-by-a-greeter but order-at-the-counter a little odd, because it's sort of two different restaurant service models rolled into one. But perhaps it streamlines the process of casual dining, letting you go up and order when you're ready (so you're not monopolizing a server's time) and removing the waiting around to pay that usually happens at the end of a meal. The staff is super-friendly and helpful, but I can't really comment much about their responsiveness because the diner is responsible for filling drinks, getting condiments, etc. I think the chicken at Nando's is flavorful and nicely cooked, but my two favorite things are the chicken livers and the peas. The livers are so rich and tasty, but almost overwhelming in their deliciousness... so I like to share them. The peas are alllll miiiiine, because they take boring old peas and make them zesty and just the right amount of mushy. I'm not sure what's "macho" about them, because peas don't really meet gender sterotypes as far as I know, but they are delicious.

My bebe and I ordered chicken with Portuguese rice. The chicken was undercooked with a little blood in it and a little bit tough. The Portuguese rice was cold. The manager asked how our food was and we told him about the chicken and the rice. He offered to replace our orders but we declined graciously. The corn on the cob was the only saving grace in the meal I had. It was both soft and sweet. The chicken is much better, i.e., juicier and cooked, in the Ann Arundel Mills branch of Nando's.

Went for the first time recently and we will be regulars. Can't wait to go on bike and order a glass of wine. Can you say deliciousness?????? LOVED the Portuguese rice side and chicken livers. The garlic bread was AMAZING. Chose Nando's over for a new experience and I am glad I did! AMAZING experience from greeter, waitress, cashier where we ordered.

The chicken is tasty but the portions are kind of small for the prices! My goodness, don't expect to come here and pig out lol. The chicken is perfectly roasted and the unlimited frozen yogurt is the best. I like the ambiance and service of this restaurant. Nice casual place for the family or a date.

First time trying Nando's after hearing so much about it and I wasn't disappointed. They offer juicy and tender chicken with great flavors, paired with delicious sides. Recommendations: - Peri peri wings - Fries with perinaise sauce - Warm pita bread with hummus. Eat it while the bread is still warm! Try the mango lime sauce with your chicken. It's got a kick to it but not too spicy. Made the chicken breast skin super tasty. Despite it being a quick casual place where you order at the counter, the service was pretty good. The servers came by to make sure everything was ok several times.

I've been to Nando's before (the location in Baltimore) and it was really good, so the husband and I decided to have it again when we came to Annapolis for a bit of shopping. I ordered a flame-grilled chicken breast (hot) with a side of fries and cole slaw, while my husband decided on a lemon-herb 1/4 dark chicken. He probably made the wise choice.... ....because I was, quite literally, unable to handle the "hot" setting here. My mouth was screaming. The manager came by and asked if everything was okay and I joked with him, saying, "Eating shouldn't hurt!" The next thing i knew - he brought me a new plate with a fresh chicken breast on it, cooked in the much milder "Wild Herb" sauce. I protested - at the very least, I wanted to pay for it, it's not their fault I ordered too spicy! - but he would not let me do any such thing. He was really, really sweet and made sure that I had an enjoyable experience. I was blown away. If you see Malcolm (the manager) here, be sure and treat him right! I made sure to write corporate headquarters singing his praises. This man deserves a big, fat raise. We will DEFINITELY return to Nando's Annapolis, and will make sure to let our friends and family in the area know, as well. Customer service doesn't get better than this.

I've been to several Nando's location and this one is on par with all of them. I love the flame grilled chicken breast, it's super juicy. The corn on the cob is grilled and the garlic rolls are delicious. The wild herb is sauce complements the chicken well but there are also four others to choose from. Most of their food reheats well which is a bonus. While this location is in the mall, it has its own entrance that you can access from the outside. Parking can be a pain depending on how busy the mall is. 3.5 Stars

This is my all time favorite Nando's. From the staff to the food it's always consistently a great experience. The moment you enter you're greeted with a smile and all the workers seem to enjoy pleasing the customers. I like that the managers walk the floor at times to solicit feedback from the customers. The food is always fresh and for some reason of all the Nando's I visit, the cole slaw is the best here.

Will never eat at Nando's again. I ate at this location twice. The first time was 'okay'. Nothing to write home about. The second time, I had 40 minutes to order, eat, and get to an appointment that was 3 minutes down the road. There are several other options within several feet of Nando's in Annapolis...Chipotle, Chick-Fil-A, just to name a few. I passed on those and went to Nando's. Never again. It's "fast-casual" dining. It took over 30 minutes to order and for my food to come out. It was a chicken breast and 2 sides. That was it. The chicken was under-cooked. The sides were mehh. That entree plus a fountain drink was $16.00 plus tip...which, is ironic that you're tipping in a place where you stand in line to order your meal, get your own drinks, etc. Their business model and "fast-casual" dining baffles me, but I digress. After tipping, I spent $20.00 on a very bad meal, and ended up being late to my appointment. To put that in context, I could have eaten at Chipotle twice and Chick-Fil-A three times for that amount. Think about that... I worked in the food industry for almost 10 years so I get it, and rarely do I say anything about a bad dining experience. I didn't say anything when I was there that day. However, it was such a bad experience (and ended up making me late) that for whatever reason I felt compelled to share my experience with Nando's via their website. I wasn't rude just wrote the same thing that I've written on this review...No response. Not only won't I return but I'll discourage others from returning too.

I like this place for several reasons: it's easy to get in and out quickly (especially if you have a movie to catch!); they have vegan and vegetarian food selections, the food is not typical. Average priced. Definitely better than your standard mall food selections of greasy food, or other mediocre food court choices. I like the vegan options, obviously I'm a vegan. Can't comment on the carnivore selection but meat-loving friends have said good flavors. I am a bit of a spice-lover. So the peri-peri hot is definitely a plus for me. The portabello mushroom, butternut squash, macho peas - all very good. Yes, you have to order at the register and you don't have servers necessarily. It's a quirky "fast-food" ordering concept there. But, after they bring the food, they do check on you a few times to see if you need anything else. I've never taken them up on their offer so I don't know how they'd handle it if I wanted to order something additional. They also give you a frequent diner card that allows you to get special freebies as you dine. And you don't have to earn a zillion points for a free side or unlimited frozen yogurt dessert. Ask for the card at the register when you order. They stamp it. And you bring it in every time to redeem something from free regular side, to appetizer, to the unlimited frozen yogurt (my nephews love that one). I like the decor of the place too. It's artsy with a foreign world flare so you feel like you're dining in a higher end restaurant than a "fast food" mall restaurant. Actually on the more quiet side too. You can actually have a conversation with your dining companions without competing with overhead music, clanging pots, clattering dishes, sports screens, loud patrons. That's a big plus for me. Oh, another thing that I love here - the hand wash station in plain view. Makes you remember to wash up before the meal. Love that idea.

This Nando's is inside a mall, so that should pretty much set the stage for your level of 'Nando's' experience. I will admit I am a Nando's snob, having eaten all 5 in the area. They lost two stars for service & giving me sides I didn't order, but the manager was great about fixing my food to the Nando's standard when I finally got what I did ask for & it was wrong, which is why it's not less. So, we arrive nice & early into lunch, there are only two tables eating. The sign where the hostess normally is says to proceed to the counter, which we did. We get there, and the manager along with most of the staff are standing there talking about sunburns. Hey man, I get it, I hate sunburn too. However, you had to have seen customers enter, walk all the way next to you and then I have to stare at them while I watch them talk. Not until I lean onto the counter & 'look' for other staff does the Manager go 'alright guys' and they break up their team chat. A staff member comes behind the cash & asked if we were ready to order.... Pardon me? No one was there to give menus or numbers, I just stood here watching you talk & I'm suppose to be ready? Lucky you I know what we want, but what if I hadn't been a Nando's professional? I'd feel awful for someone if this was how their first Nando's went. So, we ordered our wrap and sandwich, both with fries & garlic bread. We go, we sit, I receive rice....and rice... Whaaat? So, I nicely immediately tell the kid running my food what my sides were actually ordered and he goes & gets them. Thanks, kid. However, once I have my actually order - a chicken breast wrap, medium with feta, fries & garlic bread - I get about 1 bite in before I notice something off about my wrap. There's no gooey hot sauce/yogurt combo oozing out around my chicken. There's not even sauce to be seen. Or yogurt. Why is this just chicken with feta? Suspicious, Mall Nando's, Suspicious. The manager did the little cruise by where she asks if everything is alright & I tell her about what is normally a tasty saucy mixture of Medium chicken & yogurt sauce that makes Nando wraps amazing, and it's absence from my life. She agrees, knows what I'm talking about, and offers to make me a proper wrap. So I dined on fries with sauces for a bit (I have a new hait of using their "salad dressing" sauce as fry sauce). My new wrap was perfect. So, this Nando's has all the elements it may need to be as great at Silver Spring or DC's 18th Street (my favorite one) - but expect some hiccups.

We love Nando's! We first had it in DC and then when we moved to Annapolis we were thrilled to live closer to a Nando's! My husband is portuguese and loves all things spicy and flavorful. From the Hummus to the Chicken and the sides, everything is just that: flavorful. Perfectly portioned to fill you up but not over-fill you. They have all sorts of sauces so you can choose your level of spicy which is great considering my husband wants the hottest and I want something a little more mild-medium. Atmosphere is nice and somewhat trendy, but casual. Prices are extremely affordable and the food is also good for take out. I highly recommend!

African and Portuguese food - either sound good to you? Then you might like Nando's Peri Peri, which is a chain with a few locations in the MD/DC area. This one is attached to the Westfield Annapolis Mall, and is adjacent to the Chipotle location with an outdoor entrance with seating both inside and out. I never heard of Nando's but I'm very glad I tried it. It's got a strange feel, honestly - not quite a fancy restaurant, not quite a fast food joint either. It's a hybrid basically and you'll see a mix of casual-dressed clientele along with business professionals. There's no way you could be over or underdressed for Nando's, so don't worry. But this is not a typical restaurant, and although the food is great, I wouldn't go here on a date. You show up and you're instructed to wait near the entrance while you're seated - at which point you're given menus by the hostess/waitress (like a regular restaurant), but then told to go to the front counter and order your food (like fast food). Confused yet? Yeah I was. What's the point in sitting down first? I guess they just want to give their customers a slightly higher quality of service than to just be written off as a fast food joint. I went with the grilled chicken breasts with their french fries (seasoned and salted) and mashed potatoes. Everything was absolutely delicious, but what really makes this place stand out is there VERY large selection of sauces, ranging from just barely registering on the heat index to a full blown fire in your mouth. I like my sauces on the medium scale, but I found that to be even pretty hot. The sauces really make this a nice experience when paired with their grilled chicken. They call it fresh, and I'm sure it relatively is, but they take it out of storage of some sort and just grill it to reheat it. Regardless, it is very delicious and it's WAY better than almost all chicken I've ever had at restaurants such as Applebee's, TGI Friday's, and similar. I'd compare it quality-wise to a place like Outback Steakhouse, honestly. As I said in the beginning the theme in all of this is African and Portuguese. I honestly don't know what makes this place African, nothing sounds exotic really on the menu, and this is not a "hardcore" Portuguese restaurant at all. I've gone to some Portuguese restaurants where they don't offer anything remotely similar to what is at Nando's, so this is more of the chicken variety. No fish, etc. Overall Nando's is really great and I highly recommend it if you want something a little different. If you like Outback, you'll love Nando's. Give it a shot. They have a loyalty program too so the more times you go, you can get free food and drinks (not alcoholic).

Nando's is a nice spot in the Annapolis Mall, well worth dinner or a quick lunch. The seats are very comfortable, and the ambiance is peaceful, and the entire experience can be romantic at times, so long as the neighboring mall noise doesn't interfere with the experience. I had their extra spicy chicken breast and a side of rice. The chicken was perfectly cooked, though using a butter knife to cut through it could've left to a messy shirt and pants, as the knife isn't designed to cut through meat, but anyways it was nice and spicy and perfectly cooked. My side of rice was good too, plentiful, mildly spicy but good. I paired my meal up with a Sam Adam's Noble Pilsner and was a prefect match for the meal's spicy heat and flavors, their other beer selection was good too, and likely would be good with any of their dishes. There is also wine, too. Good experience, friendly staff, and just that -- a good experience 3 stars! ** WIFI password is peri peri **

We love this place!! (And we're picky.) My husband and I have lunch here at least once a week, sometimes twice. The staff is so friendly and pleasant all of the time, the restaurant is always clean and inviting. The food is fresh and delicious and I don't feel guilty for eating it. Everything I've had has been wonderful, from the peri peri chicken (which I order 90% of the time) to the sides to the sandwiches and salads. And they serve alcohol and have happy hour! There's not a better quick lunch in all of Annapolis! And, despite being at the mall, it's usually pretty easy to find parking and get in and out. Our favorite lunch spot (and I try to support local restaurants most of the time - but Nando's is just too good!) You must go if you haven't been!

I am updating my review and adding an additional star after I was contacted by Nando's management via email. They explained that my opinion was very important to them and that they strive to be the best there is. I was asked my opinion and was offered a voucher so I could return and see how they had improved. How can you beat that? In my mind, it's fabulous that establishments take their customer's opinions to heart and actually persue ways to improve their business. Nando's...you are top notch, and I look forward to returning!

Environment: The environment at Nando's is mellow and can be very intimate. This Nando's is clean and inviting. The decor of the restaurant is pleasing to the eye. Service: All the staff members are friendly and professional. This visit, I was not aware of a military discount, the cashier noticed my ID and gave my friends and I a military discount. Quality: Outside of being some of the most moist chicken I have ever had at a restaurant, I'm not sure what the else to say about it. All the food is seasoned to perfection. It taste like somebody's family is trapped in the kitchen and forced to cook. The sangria is pretty damn good, both the white and the red. Recommendations: I strongly recommend trying the 1/4 chicken with garlic bread and mashed potatoes..

Love their food!!! Great service and they always have a smile! This is our favorite location between silver spring, Crofton, and national harbor. Only bad thing is they don't have the great soda machine like the other location. That's the one thing they are missing.

I went there with my wife, we really enjoyed Nando's a lot. Actually I went for several branches here in MD, and I believe this one is the best. The food is very tasty, as we expected. The place is very clean and well arranged. They were very kind to us, and they provide my 2 years old daughter a Nando's balloon without we ask. I strongly recommend it and we will repeat that visit again for sure

Somehow I always leave hungry. My best advice for this place is always over estimate how much food you will actually eat. That way when your sad little plate arrives you won't be as disappointed. Other than the incredibly tiny portions of food, I would like to say that this place is OK. The food seems to be seasoned fine. The sangria is actually pretty nice. It is about $6 for a glass...so just order a pitcher for $15. The set up is also a bit odd. You wait to be seated. They show you to your booth. Then then explain that you have to get up and go to the counter to order and pay. Then you sit back down. Then someone brings your food over to you. Then you get up to go get your utensils and beverages...um...that is bit much much wouldn't you say?!? My opinion is to keep it moving across the hall to Chipotle. :-/

I found this place to be very unique for the things in the mall. If you don't like chicken or spicy foods I wouldn't suggest going here. While you can get your things naked, or "no peri peri sauce" on it. I noticed it was still mucho calienté! :) I later learned it's because all the chicken is marinated over night in the spicy peri peri sauce. So then you can decide if you want extra on your sandwich/entree. It is a counter service restaurant but they have beer so I was sold. After ordering you can turn to the other counter and actually wash your hands. I thought this was neat! I ordered the 1/4 chicken with light sauce. With a side of the Butternut Squash & Corn. This side was amazing!! Spicy as well which I wasn't expecting but very very good! I'll definitely go back.

We were shopping at the mall and decided to get lunch I yelped the restaurants lookin for someplace different and found Nando's. This place was excellent, it was our first time here, but definitely won't be our last. We ran into Malcolm as well and he is as good as a manager gets.

Nando's Peri peri is amazing man. My friend and I pigged out here because we've been on such restrictive diets that we needed a day to eat like a fat man. To begin, we got two Peri Peri Wings they were so yummy. For our entrees, we ordered a Full Platter 2 whole Chicken perfect flavours in it and it come with 2 large sides, big portion but left over we feasted next after work out was a treat. The service was good, although they took a while to bring the check but it doesn't matter because I'm never busy so I would be just as content sitting there for a few hours waiting for my check to come. I can sit for several hours at a time without getting bored because my ex-girlfriend would always take forever getting ready to go out. I'm used to waiting for people. Hahhaha , Loved it

was taken there last weekend and first time I ever heard about peri peri. I enjoyed it. Interesting casual style. The chicken was good with plenty of sauces. The side dishes we had were good. we ordered as a group so everyone got to taste a few different dishes. Probably be a good idea to order more than one thinks they should. I have a feeling people in our group could have eaten more.

I first tried Nando's on a trip to the UK. I ate it before I went to the British Museum to check out the Rosetta stone. That was a good day. When I travel to Annapolis, I pop into this Nando's to relive the chicken part of that day. This place is legit. Grilled chicken with tons of different spicy sauce options. The sides are great too. I highly recommend the Garlic sauce. I don;t think you can get it on the chicken but they have bottles for you to use at the table. MMMM. truly, finger lickin good ;)

So far this location is newer than the Gaithersburg location at least I believe, nevertheless they have their stuff together. I went their on a Sunday afternoon, nice atmosphere, extremely clean... Roomy so when my daughter was done, I could let her walk around the table without worrying about bothering other patrons. I got the chicken breast with Lemon Herbs, fries with peri peri and perinaise... soooo good. My picky toddler had the grilled chicken strips and fries, she ate a hearty portion which is unusual and definitely appreciate a place that she likes. The strawberry froyo was delicious and she loved it as well. I brought my sister and was happy that she enjoyed it as well. The staff were all friendly and so helpful. I will definitely be back.

Stopped here with the family on a trip back home and it was great (and just what we needed)! The chicken was awesome and the sides were very yummy -- I got the corn on the cob and rice, which I highly recommend. The staff was also super friendly and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere/decor too. Definitely will visit again the next time I'm passing through the area.

Eh.... Thats the best I can conjure up for this place. I got a chicken sandwich with fries and some sangria when I went there. It was tasty, but definitely nothing worth writing home about. I felt the bread to chicken ratio was massively slanted toward the roll and the sangria, while tasty, lacked ANY kind of punch. The sauces that can be added on all seemed to taste the same and were hot for the sake of being hot. Hot tasted like mild, which tasted like the garlic, which tasted like the medium, which tasted like the hot. There was nothing WRONG with the place, except for the aforementioned sliver of chicken on the MASSIVE roll, but it was just a bit of a build up for little pay off.

We had a coupon for 2 free kids meals with the purchase of an entree. However upon presenting the coupon , the restaurant refused to honor it, stating that it is only good on Monday or Tuesdays. There is no such statement on the coupon, and this was very poor customer service. Since we were already there with 2 hungry kids, we decided to stay and eat. The food was just fair, and I probably would not return in the future.

You walk in and you do NOT feel like you are in the mall, which I love. It's like a break from being at the mall. It's across from Chipotle. There is neat decor and you find a table, remember the number and go up to the counter to order. The menu has something for everyone, even the vegetarians. (hummus, dips, salads, veggies, haloumi and portobello sandwich). I had some hummus and I eyed my friend's portobello sandwich and charred corn. Yum! The pita could have been better toasted but they were just opening for business and you can tell the staff was learning. It was delicious hummus and it came with a super small bottle of peri-peri sauce. It was spicy, I only put a drop or two on my hummus.. putting the whole thing would have been tongue slaughter for me. I will be returning to PeriPeri.. looks all too delicious not to.

For overpriced underwhelming food visit Peri-Peri. I was so disappointed with the 3 mini wings, half plate of Uncle Ben's rice & watered down iced tea that I snail mailed a survey of displeasure. My $10 test of this new food joint was a failure. Avoid this place at all costs.

I couldn't really tell if this was a fast food joint or a family style restaurant. Almost like a hybrid. Nevertheless the decor was trendy and relaxing. As for the food, I ordered the chicken wings. This is a great alternative to fried wings as Nandos grills their wings naked, no batter. I ordered the mild wings and my nose is still running but I'm pretty sensitive to spices. I also had a side of fries that were delicious. I would definitely go back.

Nando's Peri Peri is new to Annapolis and from the looks of it new to the US. I am not sure it was the mushy peas or the liver and feta salad, that was a tip off. Not really the kind of menu you might expect at the mall food court. That said, its kind of the differences that do set it apart. Menu is simple with grilled chicken as the star. Portions are ample and quality is high. All orders are placed at the counter and food is brought to your table. Surprisingly, they also offer beer wine and sangria. The steak sandwich was tender and the pita used in the chicken sandwiches comes nicely grilled. Chicken is flavorful and you choose your level of heat with each dish. Note: Hot is just that! It's not your taco bell hot, beware. Those of us that enjoy a little heat can pump up the volume here! And if your not brave, the condiment counter has all of their sauces, all levels of heat, for you to try at your leisure. What worked for me: The grilled chicken, and extra meat for 2.95. The bread is nice and the condiment bar. Steak sandwich, and actually the macho peas are deceptively good. Service, though you don't get much is friendly. What didn't work for me: Chunky Portuguese Salad, really just a bowl of olives with feta cheese. My guess is that they have lots of feta left over from liver salads.

Let me start off by saying I'm vegetarian and I have almost no tolerance for heat. My dining partner eats meat and loves spicy food. When I looked at the menu, I noticed there were some things I could eat, so we gave it a shot. I expected to have the usual vegetarian fare of a lackluster burger that no one in their right mind would want to order. Those who don't eat meat know exactly what I mean. I ordered the portabella sandwich on a roll with medium spice and corn on the cob. What I got was the best sandwich I've ever had. No, really. The mushroom was perfect, obviously marinated. The cheese went perfectly with everything and the jam took the edge off the heat just a bit, while still being savory. The veggie patty that was made to be like chicken was perfect. I've never come across a better chicken substitute. This place is wonderful and it'll be my place to eat at the mall after shopping.
