High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

Applebee's is not what it used to be. I normally only order the same thing with is shrimp and Parmesan sirloin. The steak tasted more like pork that steak . We had two apps and 2 alcoholic drinks two orders of ribs one full rack and one half and kids corn dog meal. All for $101. I could have taken that money and stopped at the local seafood spot and picked up steamed shrimp and crabs made some corn and potatoes at home and been ultra satisfied. We will only do Applebee's if it's our last option.

My wife and I ate here recently after a mall trip because we are on weight watchers and they offer WW entrees on their menu. My wife got Shrimp and rice and I got a sirloin, red skin potatoes and a portabello mushroom stuffed with creamed spinach. Both were extremely good and I had low expectations. Our server Travis was very attentive and pleasant. The manager came by to see how everything was. Very good experience, I will return

Coming from the west part of L.A. I never really got a chance to eat at franchise sit down restaurants that often. After eating here, I'm grateful. We got the sampler appetizer and everything on it sucked. I have had better stuff out of the frozen section microwaved. I got sliders...gross! They tasted weird, were way overcooked and the bread was way to soft. I complained and they took it off the bill. The manager said that this was there new slider dish and a lot of people don't seem to like the bun. What about the meat!? Who did they focus test this with? The place was clean enough but is in need of an update. I will not eat here again.

I normally don't do too many reviews of major chains, unless the service is really good or really bad. In this case, sadly, it's the latter. I've been to this Applebees many times, and while I've never really been all that impressed I've never had a horrible experience.....until this last visit. My friend and I were seated pretty quickly, but it took forever before a server ever came by our table to take our drink order. We decided to order an appetizer when we ordered our drinks, which seemed to completely throw her for a loop.....it took over 15 minutes for our drinks to come out, and another 20 for our appetizer. Every time someone would come by with a tray of food, we would look expectantly, hoping it was ours, only to be left sitting drooling with our stomachs growling. For my entree, I ordered their parmesan chicken, which was pictured with a creamy white parmesan cheese sauce on it. What came out was a tiny piece of dry overcooked chicken with a small slice of melted mozzarella on top. And the rice that came with it had so much onion....HUGE chunks of it.....that I couldn't eat it. The server never came back to see how our food was or if we wanted anything else, and it took over 20 minutes for us to get our check when we were finally able to flag someone down for it. I don't know if they have new management or what the problem is, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had here.

It was memorial day and being in the military, I like to take advantage of all the free food. My fiancé and I decided to stop by and grab some food. Quality The food was fairly decent. We had chips and dip as an appetizer. It was nothing special about the dip. I ordered a burger and I had to keep reminding the waitress to get me the fixings that go on it (lettuce, tomatoes, onions) which it should have came out with. This was the only problem I had. Other than that, the burger was okay, nothing pressing. Service Other than the incident above, the service was consistently decent. I probably wont return.

It has been awhile since we went to Applebee's. Probably won't go back real soon We were amazed at how much the prices had gone up.....and no Happy Hour until 9pm. The place was empty. Now we know why. The service and the food was average, what you'd expect from Applebee's - but definitely not for the money paid.

My daughter wanted to go here after not going for years because the food is just so-so. So I relented and we went. The service is good, the sides were fine. But the steak, what are they doing to it? I'm not sure if it was frozen, or marinated to death, or a bad cut they drowned to cover the bad taste..Even my husband said it tasted "fake." It's awful. I cannot imagine anyone giving a good review for the steak here.

My husband and I were excited to go to dinner tonight, and it started out well. We were greeted and seated quickly, and our server was very friendly and accommodating. The food that I received, however, was well below my expectations and close to disgusting. I ordered the Signature Steak and Garlic Shrimp from the new healthy menu. The vegetables were under cooked and crunchy (the tips of the broccoli was raw as were the potatoes) and the steak was gummy. As I was waiting for the server, the manager came by to see how everything was. I told him about my food and his response was "I'm sorry" He asked if I wanted to try something new, but by this time my husband was already almost done his food. When I said that, the manager just shrugged and said sorry. The server came to see if we were ready for our check and saw I hadn't eaten. I told her why and she simply said "sorry". Really? Your customer didn't eat, tells you the food is bad and you say "sorry"? I am very disappointed with this and not only will I not be going back, but I will not be making any recommendations for Applebees a while.

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain.
