It's an old fashioned diner. I think its no frills, nice enough staff (that can very, and has) If you require table service for the booths, well, its more of a pass over the counter and come get it place. If that's not you either sit at the counter or pass. The menu is priced fine by my opinion anyway, no issue with cleanliness. Superior french toast, portions generous. The bathrooms are a walk outside to the side. It's more costly than its worth to fix that I would guess

I'm not a fan. The seating was far from comfortable. The staff was nice. The food was "ok" at best. This is not a place I will visit again. Disappointing.....

The food itself is quite delicious and fairly priced. Their bread is always a fresh, flavorful treat as toast or sandwiches. I'm a fan of their omelets, GIANT Italian club and jalapeno poppers (the correct type, a breaded & cheese-stuffed half pepper) and my girlfriend is a fan of their chicken salad, finding it "delightful, tantalizing and squee-inducing." Even their tripe is good, for those that are interested in some Pennsylvania Dutch fare with an Italian flair. The atmosphere is quite cozy and eclectic. It's close-quarters enough that if you want something, you simply approach whoever is at the counter. It's easier for everyone that customers sitting in the booths simply go to the counter a few scant feet away to grab their order. This is the authentic American diner experience nestled snugly at the corner of Shrewsbury and Plum in downtown Worcester. They're even open 24 hours a day for us night owls and pub crawlers!

I'm not sure what the deal is with the negative reviews regarding the service or interior is here. It's a diner, it's small and you can reach over and grab your drink from the counter. If this type of experience doesn't appeal to you, don't go to a diner. The menu is on the wall and is vast (again this is not a negative). Service has been great every visit and I've had different waitresses and staff working the grill each time. Breakfast is good and portions are large. American chopped suey is veryyyyy good and reasonably priced. Another go to is the cheeseburger platter with fries and pickles. Place is 24/7 and prepared food is made daily, so at the very least, skip the likes of IHOP and Denny's and get a decent breakfast here.

Big Breakfast Old Diner Cart Simply put The Boulevard is a very old diner cart that serves monster sized greasy breakfast. It is open 24/7 so you can grab some grease before or after a hangover anytime you want. The food is pretty decent for the portion sizes and the prices are very affordable. I ordered 2 large breakfast meals for about 14 bucks for myself (because I was drunk) It was enough food for an army. If your in need of late night food the Boulevard always hits the spot. Good luck in the morning though. Thanks

FIRST AND LAST TIME HERE. The service was horrible. I asked the waitress for a new fork because my first one was dirty, and she proceed to give me another one which was also dirty. When I asked her another one she threw the fork on the floor and gave me ANOTHER DIRTY FORK arguing with me that it wasn't dirty. And not to mention my cup of orange juice had milk residue around and in the cup! I promise you I did not make this up. Avoid this place at all cost! Until they replace their waitresses. I would rate the food 2 out of 10 stars. The place is extremely dirty as well. No gloves were used while making our food. The cooks and waitresses would toss dirty plates and etc in baskets in front of the customers.

Better than truck stops but just as expensive Small and busy, don't make them like this anymore

F&L... First & Last. Service was good but just too gritty for me. Omelette was ok but potatoes were tasteless and toast wasn't fully buttered. Again, service was good but I'd stay away.

I'll start by saying the only reason I am even giving this two stars, and not one, is my long standing relationship with this place. However, having the majority of my visits here were nearly two years ago and late at night after a night out with my friends, I don't know if the ownership has changed, or if just I was a little two buzzed to notice just how bad this place is in the daylight. Me and my boyfriend went in for breakfast, and after finding another local breakfast spot that we had been enjoying recently, I insisted he had to try this place because it used to be one of my favorites. We walked in, and were the second table in the place. My boyfriend ordered a coffee and oj, to which his drinks were placed on the counter top and the woman behind the counter said "Here you go." I had to get up and get our drinks.... THAT was a first. You really couldn't come from behind the counter top to serve us our drinks? Seriously? And that wasn't the only time... I also had to get my own drinks, AND our food... Which brings me to the most disappointing aspect of the meal...The food. We got simple eggs, bacon, home fires, and I got a side of french toast. The bacon, under cooked, chewy, and just not what you want in piece of bacon (which I do respect that some people like bacon that way, BUT that usually something people will request). The home fries (which had always been a favorite of mine) we're cold, and a lot of the bigger pieces of potato were undercooked. The french toast, was undercooked and soggy in the middle. I understand that french toast is suppose to have that soft center, but this was just completely undercooked. The toast served with the meal was more like a giant crouton, and just crumbled in our hands when we went to break our bread to dip in the egg yoke. Not to mention, my boyfriends coffee was full of grounds. How do you own a breakfast diner and mess coffee up like that!? Just, a totally disappointing experience all around. My boyfriend was actually pissed that he even had to tip, considering our "waitress" didn't actually do anything to tend to our table except throw our food up on the counter and tell us we were "All set" and made us get our food and drinks ourselves. Unfortunately, considering there is another breakfast place the same distance away from me, I will never be returning here for a meal. It's so sad, because this place used to be one of my favorite breakfast spots to go... but it's clearly dramatically gone down hill.

I am giving this place two stars because of the food. Service could be a littleeeeee bit better. When I walked in I was greeted instantly which was nice but from there the entire time I was dining I was confused. My significant other and I didn't know if it was self seating or not so we just sat. After sitting we realized there was no menu which is fine all of the food options are on a board. From there a girl behind the counter asked what we wanted to drink and we had to get up and get our drinks ourselves. Apparently it's self service- well kind of. They have a guy who delivers the food to the table but poor guy can hardly keep up. Ultimately, the food is good but if you want to actually be served this is not the place for you.

It all depends on who's cooking. The lady that's been there the last few visits serves up slop. Italian breakfast used to be fantastic, her's is a mess.

Fantastic old-school diner. No table service, which just means you order from the counter and come up and get your food when it's ready. I had an egg white, broccoli, onion and cheese omelette which came with amazing home fries and toast. One of the best diner meals I've ever had. Friendly staff and definitely one of the coolest and most authentic buildings for such a restaurant you'll find anywhere.

I just went to this restaurant and remembered why I stopped going there ...the prices are outrageous ...it's good food but very pedestrian nothing special but good ...but when you get your bill it seems like you just had dinner at a pricy restaurant it is just eggs for god sakes!!!!

Well, it's a diner - so expectations should be low. However, there are a few perks to this diner that I have not seen anywhere else. They make their own Italian sausage - and you can tell! It seems most of their Italian fare is from scratch. In fact, everything I ate seemed to be from scratch. I have had dinner, lunch, and breakfast and you gotta LOVE the homemade bread they cut fresh every time they make a sandwich, toast, or give out bread and butter. Being open all the time is a great perk for a night owl like myself. As far as diners go, you'll be hard pressed to find one better than this in the area.

Maybe I should have looked to see that there hasn't been many reviews here lately. Based on the two most recent ones, I shouldn't have bought the Living Social deal that brought me here. My experience left much to be desired. We walked in and there were a few people at the counter and in booths, we still had options on where to sit. Our drink order was taken quickly and found out the hard way that the only menu is the one on the wall. Not easy when my companion is a five year old who can't read. Our order arrived fairly quick. I ordered an onion and cheese omelet. Not the largest or best tasting food in the world but it tasted OK. For nine bucks however, I expected a bit more. After our food was delivered, we weren't checked on until after we had finished our food. No offer of a refill either. Guess it's a good thing we didn't need anything. Plenty of other options right there on Shrewsbury Street for me to try next time I'm in the area and hungry.

This is a legit diner! Open 24 hours, friendly staff, good food. It was a bit chilly inside and unfortunately no bathroom.

This diner is exactly what you would expect for a 50+ year old Diner. I had the 3 egg omelet with sausage, tomatoes, and cheese. The omelet was fantastic and came with old fashioned home fries and bread. The food was made to order, hot, and tasty. The breakfast with coffee came to $9 and was will worth it. Yes, the servers do not come to the table but the place is so small it does not make a difference. I would describe this diner as vintage and not for everyone. I will be back.

    (4)
  • Bryan C.

As soon as I came in, everyone working there was awesome and friendly! I ordered the Grey Hound French toast omelette that the server suggested and loved it. The service was also incredibly fast and well done. Not bad for a quick lunch stop while passing through town.

  • Ken G.

No menu. Bad service or no service. Terrible pricing. Call out your order over the counter and get your order over the same counter if you were lucky to get the bench seat table you actually had to clean yourself. After you have eaten tell them what you ordered and wait for the freaking slip. No way!

If I wake up early for breakfast because I don't want to make it myself, It would be worth the money to go to a diner where the waiter/waitress comes to my table and takes care of me. I would only come to this diner if I was alone and on my way to work at the crack of dawn. Although it's small like most diners, your server is the server behind the counter. You can either order at the bar or shout your order from the table. The thick italian toast is the only thing that stands this apart from the rest, but you have to scoop the butter off of it and ours came halfway through our meal... I would have rather had lukewarm eggs with toast than hot eggs and no toast, personally. Also, the same meal for 2 there cost the same for a better breakfast with full service at another diner for 3 this morning. If you think this is too critical, I did give it another chance and still had the same opinion...

I have enjoyed the "Bouly" for over 25 years and will freely admit that this review is heavily influenced by nostalgia, atmosphere, and a bit by the food. As a diner fan, particularly partial to the "car" style, you could do a lot worse. The food is not spectacular but the options certainly are and the people are always helpful and attentive. Please understand when I say "not spectacular" I mean you are not likely to experience a lot of nuance or subtle flavors and so forth. While I like the breakfast options, particularly the french toast, I tend to go with items such as manicottti, meatballs, and chicken parm. The Italian loaf bread is airy and soaks up the sauces. Again, nothing fancy or necessarily imaginative, but you get your order, can ask for more, chat with the community and staff, and can do it at all hours of the day. It's cramped inside and not a lot changes, but the weight of a Boulevard mug in your hand feels like home.

A Classic! Great place for breakfast anytime of day or night. Love the toast! Yup I said the toast! Great home-cooked / diner style food. For those who have posted bad reviews; it's a diner! A staple in worcester that has survived the ups and downs of the economy for all of these years because they have mastered what they do. No matter how packed it may be inside, you won't wait long for your meal. The staff might not make small talk because they hustle to serve their customers.

Traveling over Thanksgiving we stumbled upon this place. Open since 1932 and in the same family since 1965, this small, classic diner should not be missed. The food(breakfast) was very good and served in generous portions, and the service was friendly and fast. Don't worry about when to get there as it is open 24/7!

Downright NASTY I've come here a few times and every time I regret it. Usually I'm only here if I'm starving and it's tuesday (corner lunch is closed). The place is so cramped and tiny. Don't be surprised if your table is full of crumbs or trash because the "servers" never come to your table. They take your order from behind the counter and then leave your food or beverage there for you to retrieve. The service is AWFUL. Why is everyone here so angry? They all give each other attitude. The menu is a train wreck. Just scattered and cramped on one small board. Often times you just have to say hey I want this, this, and this. Because there's no name for it. The food itself is trash. Bacon was cold and tastes like dog treats. Home fries are soggy. The eggs come from a big bowl of premixed goop they spoon on to the grill. Who knows how long it's been there. Each time I've been here I've found a hair in my food. And the WORST absolute worst part of this place is that as I was eating I watched the waitress/server/cook handle someone's cash and then DIRECTLY grab a loaf of bread with her bare hands and slice it. I was absolutely MORTIFIED not knowing how dirty her hands were before she made my food. I will never come here again.

Had breakfast on a Sunday AM. We both had omelets that were suppose to be 3 egg and it looked more like a 2 egg - very small. The potatoes were on the cool side. Only 2 choices for toast - no wheat or rye. I was surprised that they put the cream into the coffee for us - how do they know how much I like? The coffee was $2.50 each and we only had one cup each because of the taste - slightly bitter but not a good bitter - tasted as if it had been made for a while. Would not go back - food just ok and on the expensive side for what you get.

It's 4am, you're pumped from your exciting night out and worst of all you're starving. You need food STAT but who is open at 4am? No longer will you head home and stare longingly into your refrigerator wishing that you had more in there than condiments. The Boulevard Diner is the answer to this question 24 hours a day. The establishment is small but that's part of being a diner, and I've never seen it too crowded to sit and eat. The food is amazing, huge portions great flavors (I'm partial to breakfast foods) and it's made quick. The prices are excellent for the amount of food you get. The last meal I got was about twice as much food as I could eat and I'm not one to ever leave food on my plate. If you need food anytime of the day then this is your place. I will definitely be back here.

Open 24 hours. It's good food, that I think would become exceptional food if I wasn't moderating my alcohol intake so as to be able to drive. I grabbed a burger and fries, she went with blueberry pancakes. The fries were fresh, tasty, the burger was, well, a burger. Beef on a bun with toppings, nothing special about it, but a burger is inherently good unless you mess it up, which they didn't. The pancakes were HUGE. Friendly staff, good prices, and no matter how late you're getting done with whatever else it was that you were doing, they're open.

I'm giving this one star only based off of service. I can't review the food because we never made it to order. My husband and 3 y.o. daughter went in based off a recommendation by a local. When we first walked in there were 3 men at the counter and all tables empty. It was about 11:30 a.m. so I wasn't expecting it to be busy. The two women behind the counter working never greeted us. Strike one. We sat down, sat ourselves, sat a few minutes before either one asked if we wanted something to drink and were we ready to order. They never came over to the table, just asked from behind the counyer. I asked if they had print menus and was told they only had them for luncheon specials, the rest were on a board hanging above the grill. We ordered our drinks. The waitress put them on the counter and said "here you go". Umm excuse me? You want me to get up and get my own drinks? Strike two. As my husband and I looked at the hanging menu (we never received the specials menu) the other worker was on her cell phone with what seemed to be a service center for their soda machine. Not a big deal, I get it, you've got to take care of business. However, she became very angry at the person on the other end of the phone and was so loud and rude my husband and I finally made tbe smart choice to leave. I couldn't believe how she was behaving with customers, one a toddler, in the diner. As were walked out and I said to the one waitress who poured our drinks (and never even came over herself to drop them off) that we were all set and leaving, the other one has the audacity to ask "what happened"? Really? My response was "we shouldn't have to sit and listen to you scream in the phone while you have customers in here. So completely ignorant". We walked out and went elsewhere. Worst customer service ever. Highly recommend not spending your money on such low quality service. Plenty of other places to eat at nearby.

Horrible. This place used to be so much better. Great homemade food, friendly service and atmsosphere. Now it can be summed up as substandard service, substandard food and shitty attitude. Perhaps the pudgy little woman with the shitty outlook behind the counter might benefit from learning how to serve the food instead of eating it. So sorry i decided not to tip for the lukewarm food served late with a shitty attitude. You suck at life and food service.

I LOVE this diner! Open 24/7, great food, great portions, great service and great prices! I always go here whenever I am in Worcester! Post concert it is a tradition to go here and get our nom on!! I love the setting, old style diner car. My favorite is the Big Bully special!

Worst place ever!! Wasn't given a menu, dirty atmosphere, had to go up to counter to order, dirty cups, bland food for not cheap. $24 for two meals. The eggs were not thoroughly cooked, toast was burnt, peppers & onions were rotten. Sooo nasty we didn't even tip and I always tip 20%.

2.79 Stars I had an Italian omelette with "gravy". When asked if I wanted it, I hesitated, but it made it more complete. The cook passed me the red pepper shaker and the parmigiana cheese, these condiments and the Scali bread just seem to fit. I sat at the counter and service was quick. Eleven bucks for the large portions and coffee still seemed a bit pricey, but it did fill me up. There is an extensive menu for breakfast, with signature omelettes named after local colleges. * Classic Diner look and feel. * Bit of a Townie vibe but friendly enough. * Parking is tight on the street, public lot up the street.

This is a tiny hole in a trolley spot. LMAO!! But the food was good. The ladies making it happen there are fast and have the NE England tone of voice I was waiting to here. I enjoyed the food.

The Boulevard Diner was recommended highly by the hostess of another restaurant we visited. She did say it wasn't "as nice" as a high end restaurant, but she failed to mention it was in one of those old school diner cars. The seats were uncomfortable, the space was cramped, and the menu consisted of several college named omelets posted all over the wall. Apparently this naming convention doesn't work that well since I ended up with the completely wrong omelet. The food itself tasted fine, but we all left wanting more. The "Italian Toast" that was so highly recommended is just think bread smothered with butter. They gave our table a whole plate of the stuff.

This is the definitive casual dining experience. The Worcester Lunch Car Company distributed many vintage eateries in the first half of the 20th Century, and this is perhaps the ultimate example of what a diner should be. The food isn't exquisite, but it's delicious and comforting. The service isn't over-the-top, but it's warm and friendly. The decor isn't fancy, but it's familiar and nostalgic. There's no bar, but they let you B.Y.O.B. until eleven. It's also open 24 hours. I can't tell you how many times I have come here, whether it was two in the afternoon or three in the morning...heck, I even counted down a New Year inside one of their cozy booths, watching Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve on the tiny T.V. tucked away in the corner, while indulging myself in a chili omelette. It wasn't on the menu, but they made it for me anyhow. It seriously feels like family. I guess it's not the cheapest place for diner food around (close, though), but it's worth it. The whole experience is a blast. Come be a part of the atmosphere! The train car is always filled with locals, characters, and night owls. And it's always a good time.

This place just gets better and better every time I go back; some of the staff have come to recognize me and my friend, since we're often here for food late at night - there is nothing I love more than a restaurant that has actual conversations with its regulars. After trying out a few things on the menu, I have come to settle on the decision that the cheese omelet is by far my favorite thing on the menu; couple that with their amazing toast and some of the greasiest, most delicious bacon you can get, and you've got a perfect meal. Prices are decent, the atmosphere is always fun (who doesn't love an old traincar diner?), and the food is fantastic. You really just can't go wrong with Boulevard, and if you live nearby like I do, I can guarantee you'll end up going back more than once when you find yourself hungry late at night.

The food is good but the inside is small. Its way to busy on the weekends around 2 am. The bench seats are small and hard to fit two people. The staff is friendly and the food comes out fast.

This was my second time here friendly staff the food was good and the omelet I order was fantastic! Pretty much what you expect from a diner but they are open 24/7 only problem I had was when my boyfriend and I were done with our meal we stacked up our empty plates and waited for the waitress to give us our check (which she never did) she seemed to go missing for or for a break and we had to ask the cook how much we owed he was more that happy to help is out!

Ummmm ok, so this place really does get 4 stars in my books.... but that's after a caveat or two. This place is a diner in all senses of the word; ergo, the Boule doesn't really focus on hygiene and appearance. Of course you don't have rats running around, but all the same, it's a little grimy. However, IT'S OPEN 24 HOURS. They also make the meanest grilled cheese sandwich in the Woo. A few slices of all American cheddar on that wonderfully thick and fluffy sourdough garlic bread....I feel like there's an impending trip to Worcester in the works. Enough with the salivating about that garlicky cheesy goodness. Bottom line: it's cheap, open at whatever hours your drunk and/or stoned ass needs food, the food is decent-ish, and the waitresses are fun to talk to/humor. Go.

This place was horrible. I didn't like ANYTHING I got at all. Usually hangover food is anything greasy, I found the exception. A few problems.... 1. The seating is god awful. I went with 2 friends, 3 of us could barely squeeze into a booth. We're not massive in anyway. Overly cramped, and uncomfortable wooden benches. I get the "old school" vibe, and usually enjoy it. Again, I found the exception. 2. The service was terrible. No disrespect, but there was an elderly lady "serving" us and not only did the woman behind the bar have to take our order, she had to deliver the food as well. No one ever came back to ask about refills or how things were. 3. Price. A cup of coffee costs $2.99. Are you serious?! Then no one asks if you'd like a refill? I can get a large D & D coffee for that price, and love every second of it. 4. The food was mediocre at best. I should've got breakfast, the shepperds pie was terrible. I'm not one to bash a place this hard, but....I found the exception......

It talks the talk and it walks the walk. Stainless steel exterior? Check. Neon sign? Check. Sox game on TV at counter? Check. Noisy fan over grill? Check. Cook in T-shirt and Sox hat? Check. Old guy hangin' out at the counter? Check. Spry and friendly waitress who looks too young to have grown grandchildren? Check. Hot as hell at the counter? Check. Comfortable at the funky wooden booth next to the window propped open with a salt shaker? Check. 9PM on a Friday night. I had the clam chowder and the meatloaf, carrots and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. Both were very, very good. My gf had an omelet loaded with spinach, olives and feta cheese. She loved it. The Italian Toast (fresh Italian bread, toasted on the grill and slathered with melted butter) was perfect. The Grape Nut Custard for dessert was remarkably good. I think on principal, I can't give 5 stars to a diner like this. 4 Stars says "Yay! I'm a fan." That's the truth. If diner food is what you want, you won't go wrong here.

The Boulevard is the epitome of classic diner car fare. Breakfast comes naturally, but they also have a dinner menu available with sandwiches, meatloaf, spaghetti, and other comfort foods. Of course, there are several flavors of pie, nearly always have blueberry. I'm not sure if this is the case, but this is like the diner car that has been in continuous operation since 1930 on Shrewsbury Streeet. They close from 12-2 on Sundays to clean but are otherwise 24 hours. Of especial note is the super amazingly fluffy Italian bread toast, which is the same used for the equally amazing French toast--try it just once before you get back to your whole wheat diet. Pancakes are big and fluffy, just a little bit crispy on the edges, mmm. The homefries (no hash browns) are hit or miss, but best when they're busy, imho. They take credit cards! On the other hand, the coffee is average, they don't have waffles, ham steaks are too thick to get super fried, but your egg will be cooked exactly as requested and they're liberal on the bacon. This is the most *real* diner you will ever eat at. Enjoy!

Neat little place but it's a diner-- don't expect nothing fancy. Want a chocolate milk? Glass of milk then some Hershey's syrup. Done. I was there once, sitting at the counter between two people I didn't know-- when their orders came out they both had comments: "I didn't order bacon." The first guy says. "Yah, and I did." Says the other. The waitress apologizes, then reaches onto the first guys plate (with her hands) and picks up the bacon and puts it on the second guys plate. True story. Another time I was there I was watching my omelet burn while the girl talked to a policemen who had stopped by for a coffee-- when I got up to flip it over she told me she was watching it-- really? 'Cause it was on fire.

I've been here several before and I always received good service and good food. I must have caught them at a bad time a few weeks ago for breakfast. My fiancé and I arrived during a lull and we sat down immediately. There were only 4 other diners there. A young girl came over and took our drink orders and immediately brought them over. We ordered our food and waited about 15 minutes to get it. Instead of bringing the food to our table, the waitress put the food on the counter for us to serve ourselves. This was extremely rude. She also did the same thing with our check at the end. Not happy at all with the boulevard diner. Will not be coming back!

This place is right out of a Ben Affleck movie. A truly classic diner open in the 1930's. Normally I don't pay too much attention to the atmosphere, I'm mostly interested in the food, but you can't ignore it here. Red Sox fans talking baseball, wooden benches, the waitresses with thick Boston accents. I loved every minute of it! Top it all off with great food and winner, winner... I had a HUGE portion of eggplant parm which was very tasty. My friend let me have some of his omelet which he ordered with a litany of ingredients including olives, feta and broccoli that was phenomenal. The eggplant was good , but next time I'll go with the omelet. I'll definitely stop here again if I can. How do you like THEM apples.

As a former college student in Worcester, I've been to the Boulevard diner more times then I can remember. Open 24/7, it's often one of the only places when pulling an all-nighter to get some food, or if you're just in the mood for some pancakes later at night. It is one of the first train-car diners in the country, and as such, does have a bit of older and "historic" feel to it. Parking is perhaps the worst out of any restaurant I've been to, with the only official spots being the street. Unless you're coming at some ungodly hour (ex: 3AM), you're unlikely to find a space and will probably wind up circling the block a few times. There is a nearby lot that's designated for the diner across the street which you shouldn't have any issues parking in anyways. The place is usually quite empty, but it's unlikely you'll ever be the only person there. That said, during a weekend morning or at "normal" weekday dinner, you're likely not find a booth (of which there are only about five). Accommodations are a little cramped, as can be expected by the size of the place, but you won't be banging elbows with anyone you don't know. The wait staff, as friendly and personable as they are, can be a bit lazy during the off times, often passing things to your booth by simply placing them on the counter and relying on you to get up and bring them back for yourself. Prices are reasonable, under most dishes in the $5-7 range and portions large enough that I often have enough to bring home and eat for breakfast the next day. Not someplace I'd bring a romantic date or a person you're trying to impress, but someplace I do enjoy going.

Love the homemade corned beef hash. Perfect breakfast after a long night at work.

"The Bully" is a classic. I know it best as purveyor of world-beating drunk food, but it's great any time. The meatball sandwiches are great, as is the chicken parm. The tuna melt had the potential to be gross, but was supremely delicious (but do keep in mind I was drunk). The chili when they have it is to die for. My vegetarian girlfriend proclaimed the eggplant parm the best she'd ever had. The cooks/servers are blue-collar and rude, just like you'd want them to be. Sports is always on the tiny tv, and both the retired-caboose environs and eclectic dining crowd provide plenty of atmosphere. I love the Bully. It's a can't miss eating and cultural experience.

The italian toast is the best thing on the menu. thick slices of delicious italian bread drenched in butter. Its cheap and the portion is big. The pancakes are also really good, otherwise standard diner fare. Negative: The wait staff are blah and would rather you serve yourself than to have to get off their ass.

Come before 2am and you'll avoid the club goer crowd. But definitely a scene. The food I think was alright. Ordered their omelet. For $7.45, you can have as many ingredient as you want. I ordered their ham, tomato, spinach, mushroom, and swiss cheese. Cheese is definitely a little too much, but still good. I feel the food was a little bland but definitely have your fair share of grease. Omelet comes with home fries and toast slathered with butter. I think I like Kenmore a little more

Go here if you want home fries that taste like they were soaked in dirty sock water. I'm totally serious. Probably one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Yeah, and the service sucked too (and we were even sitting at the counter). This was my second time there and the first visit wasn't nearly as bad, just slow service. My second visit though, was my last. Not sure if it's a new owner or cook or what... Just bad. I was there on a sat. around 10:30 am.

Walked into here after closing out Armsby Abbey and loved the place. Its a diner in every aspect you could expect. "Efficient" service, low prices, big portions, grease, questionable cleanliness & all packed into a real diner car. I also liked the no physical menu thing as we were able to pick what we wanted from the board & assorted postings on the wall above the cook-top area. The clientele is exactly what one would expect at a diner in a city at 2 AM. College kids, drunk people & other assorted transients. The only weird thing is that the bathroom is in a different building that is tucked off to the side of the place which forces you to actually go outside to get to. I had the bully which was awesome. It was eggs, bacon, homefries, toast, pancakes & possibly the kitchen sink. Whatever was there I polished it off and paid my insanely low tab.

Yuck, don't get the "mashed potatoes." In fact you may want to stay away from any lunch/entree as people who like this place seem to be eating breakfast. My wife and I stopped in for something quick and cheap, the server behind the counter pleasantly recommended the "Chicken Cacciatore" and I got it with "potatoes and veg." The corn I got was not yellow, but a yellowish brown and didn't taste good. The potatoes tasted like they were from a box, the texture in some parts were gummy and/or chewy. I inquired if they were made fresh. The server looked embarrassed and replied "no they're frozen." Good god. I told her they were "nasty" and she said "sorry." She apologized a second time when she gave us the bill. The chicken was moist but lacked flavor and the red sauce was noticeably oily. The steak and cheese my wife had wasn't bad. We won't be back though.

Cramped as all hell. Bathroom was outside in an alley. Also the food made me sick and wound up missing an event i was heading to that weekend. For your bodies sake don't eat here.

Ended up here after hanging up with a good friend of mine drinking all night. Really never been to many places in Mass but this has to be by far one of my favorite. This is the first time that I've gotten pancakes and they where steaming and the syrup came out warm. The bread and butter was awesome after a night of drinking and it being so cold out. Its small but every one there was having a good time and the staff were friendly and laid back. Next time I'm up in Massachusetts visiting this will most defiantly be one of my stops!!!

Stopped in here a few Mondays ago. Both my grandfathers used to bring me in here like forty years ago. At least that's the way I remember it. My daughter had a cheeseburger and fries special. Great burger and fries cooked right in front of her by the lady that took her order as we sat at the counter. I love diners and it is what it is. A very welcome time warp that you just don't get with the chain restaurants.

Really bad. Service? More like self service. We had to crawl of of our booth to get our drinks and food from the counter. Prices were way high for lousy food. My wife got an omelet that looked as bad as it tasted, and my meatball/sausage sandwich was mostly a big loaf of bread. I always figured that food you went out and paid for should be at least as good as you make at home. For $25 (yes, we left a tip), we learned to give this place a wide berth from now on.

Very small diner, about the size of the a yellow school bus (ok, maybe a tad bigger). Only went here once around 4 am with my roommate. We were not overly drunk but hungry and wanted breakfast food. It was decent but probably wouldn't go here if it wasn't open all night.

The food is diner food, pretty damn good at that, but the patrons are typically either chemically imbalanced or inebriated. Some amazing stories and chain of events simultaneously begin and end here. Essentially this is the best place ever, as long as your Blood Alcohol Content is well above a .18

We've been to the Boulevard a couple of times but don't go there a bunch because each time we go the servers are so rude that we don't want to go back but being able to get breakfast 24 hours makes it our only choice sometimes. This time was no exception. Wehn we got there, we seated ourselves at a booth and were greeted by the two waitresses. We were the only ones in the place and from behind the counter, one of the waitresses took our drink order. She sat the drinks on the counter and so my partner went and picked them up. When we were ready to order, she took the order from the behind the counter as well. We didn't think this was too crazy as there was no one else in the place. The thing that bothered me was when the food was ready, she sat it on the counter as well. By now, there's other patrons in the place and all of them at the counter. We grabbed one plate as a guy sat next to it looking at it like why is this plate next to me and then one of the others at the counter who was either a regular or worked there (but not today) picked up our plate and walked it over to our table. Nice. To top it off, my sandwich wasn't toasted as I'd requested and the bread was old it was crumbly. If you're going to have attitude, the food should back it up and it didn't. I think it'll be a long time before we visit this diner again.

Went here for a st Patrick's breakfast... Was thoroughly unimpressed after seeing good reviews on here. The French toast wasn't cooked all the way my omelet wasn't cooked all the way either. The bacon was dry and over cooked. The only menu is on the wall making it hard to read from the booths. And the waitress wasn't up to par my extra bacon came after the my meal was done, waited 10 minutes to get her attention for the check and was never asked how the food was or if we wanted anything else. Bummer

Went for the first time at 2am after a long night of drinking and it's perfect for this time of day! The heaping portion of french toast was 5 bucks, and although it was undercooked, it was made with thick slices of french bread that were buttery, greasy, and awesome while being intoxicated. I tried my friend's hash browns and they were by far the best I've ever had! So good! The omelets looks delicious too.

I was told this place was great so I stopped by one evening and found nothing of the sort. The waiter, if that's what you call him, was rude as could be. My eggs were barely cooked and when I asked if they could be cooked more I found out that new eggs meant a new charge of about $4. After opting out of that portion of my meal I picked at what else was on the plate to find it only sub-par. After asking for the check my plate was taken straight away before I could pay or resist the removal. If you have okay food but great staff I would be more inclined to try again but a combination of two negatives can only make a negative. Maybe you have to be drunk to like this place.

Didn't have dinner until late and I knew this to be a reliable location. Stopped in around 10PM and ordered up the american chop suey. Plate was huge and tasty, but price was a little high consiering the environment. Waitress was very nice and helpful.

"Dude I'm starving, and everything is closed" "But bro, we can hit up the Boulevard Diner, it's always open." "Oh yeah, and the food is always great. Let's go!" I've had this 3 AM conversation approximately 73 times. Try it.

I love diners...I really do!! I have been to most diners in this area because of my love for them. You get great food (for the most part) for a great price and you can't beat the atmosphere. I have my favs and I have my hates. This is one of them. I sat down thinking "ohhhh boy!! another great diner dinner!!!!" We ordered and waited....waited...waited. I can understand if there was a crowd in here. But there was only ONE other patron at the counter. Come to find out the short order cook made the wrong thing....Yup. *shakes head* The hamburgers and fries came and they were awful! Tough and dry. The fries soggy and cool to the touch. On top of that, she handed me the bill and it cost 7 bucks for each hamburger!!!! OMG! For something I could barely swallow and fries I wouldn't give to my dog. No credit cards only cash. How ANCIENT!

no parking in the area - even if there was only one other couple in the place. The staff spent the entire time on their cell phones. and I had to get up and get my own stuff from the counter - she wouldnt even take it to our table as for the food -- tasted like something frozen from costco and they reheated.

A good, basic, old fashioned diner. Maybe 6 booths, and a few stools at the counter. We had breakfast, eggs, bacon, hash browns, etc.

I used to go to the Boulevard with my old man. He worked overnight as a security guard at Sanborn's Trucking Terminal in Shrewsbury, and we would hit the dinner in the morning on the way home. 40 years later, I'm going to visit a sick relative in UMASS Med Worc and I found the Boulevard again. It's more than just a great place to eat (and it is!) It's a part of the local history!

Great place! Had a classic diner experience here. Fantastic old, original diner car and archetypical staff. Friendly regulars at the counter, including two cops having their dinner. This was like something out of central casting. Almost everyone had a conversation with the women behind the counter and got hugs when they left. Had a terrific omelette and, as another Yelper mentioned, amazing toast! Decent home fries, too. Whole meal - too much to finish - was about $8. And the atmosphere was priceless. And you better bet I'll be back for the liver and onions! Thanks, fellow Yelpers for steering this out of towner to a good spot.

Best diner experience in Worcester, which is saying a lot! The Bully has been around since the '30s, and the interior is incredibly well-preserved. The food is good, the toast is great, and most importantly, it's open TWENTY FOUR HOURS (except late Sunday). This is really important, because most diners in New England are not open 24 hours, and are in fact usually open only for breakfast and lunch. The servers are very experienced and friendly. I love the steak and cheese sandwich, the eggplant parm sandwich, the burgers, the Italian breakfast, and the French toast.

Classic diner - and open 24 hours. Savory, fast, relatively (especially for Shrewsbury Street) cheap. Worth a visit.

I like this diner a lot, mostly because it's open 24 hours, and thats unusual especially in Worcester. The food is your usual diner food, but it won't give you a stomach ache or heartburn once you walk out the door. Lots of interesting people frequent this place, the diversity is great.

I walked into the Boulevard Diner the other night to get a bacon egg and cheese sandwich on italian to go. Keep those eggs runny. they wrap it in foil and when you get it home its an eggy gooey "Thing" that has you sopping the yolk up with your fingers if you have to. The bacon is real porky and salty like the john and sons sausage and it makes the sandwich. That however is not the only reason why I gave it 5 stars. The reason is when I walked in Johnny George was behind the counter. Good times.

I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. My father used to take me here after Celtic's games late at night. His father used to do the same with him. The Boulevard Diner has been a Worcester landmark for a long time. They are always open (24hrs I believe) and serve up some great breakfast food. Since they are on Shrewsbury Street (Worcester's Little Italy) they have a lot of Italian staples on their vast menu as well. Their meatballs are great and their Pasta Fagioli is wonderful. This place can get a bit rowdy on weekend nights and the line will almost always be out the door. If you are looking to an authentic diner experience in the Worcester area, the Boulevard Diner is a sure bet.

If you go you must eat either a veal or chicken parm sammy. The bread is out of control. I can eat two in one sitting. I can't even comment on anything else because that's all I've ever had there. I took my rating from a 5 to a 3 because the last two times I went, it sucked. They switched to a different kind of bread I think, that isn't very good at all.

This was a wonderful find while visiting Worcester. Food enough for three breakfasts for about $7? French toast was particularly good. Service is not exactly nice but has its own charm.

The quintessential diner car experience in Worcester-- I even took visiting relatives from JAPAN here for burgers. The five of us squeezed into the wooden bench seats at a table intended for four, and watched as the servers took and called out orders from behind the counter in the midst of efficient chaos. Regulars sit up at the counter, nursing coffee and sodas. The car is decorated in such a way that gives you that "old time feeling"-- I guess the place has a lot of history (I think it opened in the 1930s??). The staff at Boulevard Diner are busy and blunt, but they call you "honey" and that makes you feel like family. So, the burgers are tasty, cheap, small and simple. I've also enjoyed breakfast here a couple of times-- pleased with the eggs, home fries, toast, and coffee...all for under $4. A friend of mine liked the blueberry pancakes, I think that you have to ask for blueberries if it's not on the menu.

Thank you, Boulevard Diner. For the late nights at Holy Cross, especially the ones where we didn't have heat in our apartment and I needed to find somewhere warm to sit. Service was dinery, regulars were entertaining, pie was tasty. No complaints, ever. Some of my favorite dates ended up here.

I go here for breakfast. This place is just down home goodness...very reliable. The service was a bit off as our server kept bringing us the wrong things- but everything she brought was delicious. Price was right too. Can't go wrong with this one.

How can you possibly describe this classic railroad car diner? Even for the genre, this place is wildly different. Our food was passed over the counter to our booth by the patrons, mountains of food at a tiny price. It is not gourmet but not bad either. We noticed there were only two cars in the parking lot but yet the diner was full. The locals must know where to eat. Rather droll is that the rest rooms are out back in a separate building but I suppose they had plumbing unlike the outhouses we had when I was very young out west. I tell you, folks, it was an experience. Best, Terry

I love this place! Especially at 3 am! Their breakfast is the best and I love their corned beef hash and their home fries! The wait around 2am on Fridays & Saturdays can be pretty long. Cash only though sucks.

  • James S.

Solid, unspectacular breakfast joint...unless its 3am and youre drunk, then its great. Not the cleanest place but ideal location and they serve huge portions. Waitstaff is quick but you better know what you want. All the classics are available for breakfast and a solid lunch selection. Very good italian bread. Prices are fair but not a huge bargain like they were a few years ago.

If i had a quarter for every time I wanted to slap a customer in the face every time I ate there, I would be rich... really rich. Expect your average diner food but after 11:00, the drunks roll in. They're loud and annoying and don't know how to handle themselves in public. Take it any way you want it, they're a good laugh but they're also messes. Two Stars!

    (2)
  • Gaby S.

Don't get the pies. The crusts are soggy and I found a fly in mine. Ick. After waiting for too long to get their attention, I finally got another slice. Definitely not worth the wait.

  • Aly H.

Eric R and Doug T have hit it right on the nose. This place is best after 2am when the bars close. It's also best if you've been drinking a little because it'll help you enjoy the atmosphere better. The food is decent, cheap and you just can't beat the entertainment. So the next time you're out for a night in Wormtown and you get hungry or you just don't want the night to end yet, head over to the Boulevard. You won't regret it!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
