When I came to write my review this morning, I was honestly shocked by the number of poor reviews that were listed. Working in Burlington, I decided to take a client to dinner at Strega Prime based on my experience with Strega in the North End. We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation, and even though our table was ready we decided to start with a drink in the bar. As it got closer to 6:30, we decided to just eat in the bar area, and the hostess easily got us into the banquette and transferred our bar tab to the table. I was expecting some sort of bread at the table, but fresh popovers the size of my head? Crazy; and the butter was the perfect mix of salty & sweet to compliment the flaky pastries. Being a small party, we opted for the calamari appetizer while we looked over the menus. During our second round of drinks, the waitress wasn't sure if one of the party had wanted olives in her martini, so she brought them on the side. This little attention to detail was amazing. I choose the petite filet, "on the rare side of medium-rare" and my client ordered the seared scallops. Being a business dinner, we were't the type to share our meals, but judging from his clean plate, the scallops were a home run. My steak was perfectly cooked, with a slightly pink ring around a cool red center. Despite being so rare, my knife almost fell through the meat when cutting. The foie gras & marrow butter melted over the steak is the only sauce I needed. Through out the meal our server Ashley was attentive without being overbearing, quick with drink refills, and offered great suggestions on the menu. As a salesperson, I seem to be in steakhouses on a regular basis - Strega Prime is among the best.

I feel cheated! Order the stuffed veal chop at a price of $43 came with a side of mash super disappointed TOTALLY not worth $43 price tag. I'll pay just do it right! Avoid the veal chop.

Had a 6:45 res and was seated within 10 minutes Waitress was wonderful.......apps were delicious waited almost an hour for our dinners and my steak was barely warm and tough, supposedly a problem in the kitchen which backed up the whole restaurant including the people in the lobby waiting to be seated!!! We won't rush to go back............

You may need to mortgage your house to eat here, but it's worth it! The bar was lively, the hosts, managers and servers were fantastic. Friendly, warm and they REALLY know their stuff. We were a party of 4, and everything from the dumpling and calamari apps, to the Wagyu Beef, the Papardelle with wagyu ragu, to the fish was amazing. I was definitely pregnant with triplet food babies...amazing. Can't wait to go back.

We went there yesterday for Fathers Day, expecting great things since we love the Strega Waterfront restaurant. We were very disappointed! The place is too dark, it needs more festive lighting. The steaks were tough and tasteless, and had to go back to the kitchen since we ordered them medium rare and they came out well done....seriously? If you want to call yourself a "prime" steakhouse and charge $47 for a 14 oz sirloin or ribeye, COOK IT CORRECTLY the first time! My daughter had the sea bass which she enjoyed. It was plentiful and tasty which is why I gave this review 2 stars instead of one. After we had eaten, our waiter brought the check, not even offering us a dessert menu! This is NOT the type of service we expect from a fine dining establishment. We will happily return to Morton's , Del Friscos, or Capital Grill, but we will not go back to Strega Prime.

Like I've seen from others... good not great. Strega Prime cannot compete with other local known steak houses. Cap Grill, Grill 23 ...both way better. This is a wannabe. Cuts of beef and overall food quality just doesn't meet the standard of the lead steak houses. It;s not horrible - it's just not competitive at the price position. Bar looks fun. But I'm a steak eater... and Strega gets a 5 out of 10.

Strega prime needs to work out their hosts, they are way to uptight and cranky!! If I'm a few seconds later than the rest of my party don't get so uptight. It is possible to seat them first!!! Food is good , server we had was ok. He was definitely from the north end strega, as he called one person at our table honey, a little early to b using romanticism !! Also ever time we asked about something he used the same adjective "AWESOME", please get him a dictionary , Strega prime loosen up a little, I can't relax when your acting all uptight!

We sat next to the fire, which was warm and cozy. Our server's name was Dominic and he was friendly, proffesional and competent. The popovers were great and the rest of the meal was mostly delicious. Not overly amazing, but very good and good size portions. We were celebrating a birthday and they gave us a complimentary dessert, which was delivered complete with a singing staff...all in all a very nice experience.

Was not overly impressed. The bread was really good, but still if I am going for Italian or steak I don't want a popover. I want an onion loaf like Mortons, or a nice crusty bread with olive oil. They have a 13 dollar meatball you have to try because it tastes like a meatball and it costs 13 dollars. Very similar to why you pay to see the bearded lady at the fair. For 13 it should have been one of the best I have ever had, it didn't crack the top 10. Ideally this is like Capitol and Landana where the quality of your experience is in how much you convince yourself it was the best.

Before I kick off this review, let me get this out of the way; Do not order the chimichurri sauce with your steak. If you or someone you know works at Strega, make an effort to get the chimichurri removed from the menu. It was nothing short of disgusting and an insult to Argentina. Honestly, I have no idea why it would be on the menu at an "Italian" steakhouse, but if you choose to offer it it should be at least palatable. Strega's is not. We should have questioned its authenticity when it was misspelled on the menu. That being said, our dinner for 8 at Strega was ultimately enjoyable. Going in I had read a lot of reviews, granted from not long after opening, that mentioned service being very sub par. We didn't share this complaint. One waitress easily managed our entire party, she was very knowledgeable and quick to substitute the underwhelming chimichurri with sauces more to our liking. It was due to her strong recommendation that I went with the stuffed veal chop, which in my opinion was the best entree on the table. Starters were good and were very shareable, but managing sides was a bit trickier. An order of truffle parmesean fries was enough to serve 5-6 people, while vegetable sides were more suited for 2 people. I did get to try the steak as well, and I found it to be very under seasoned. Perhaps this is because they serve the beef with butter with bone marrow and foie gras and they expect that to add enough flavor. Or perhaps it is an attempt to sell more $2 sides of sauce. Either way, if you choose to eat your steak sans sauce or don't want it lathered in lard, you probably won't be wowed by the steak itself. It's still quality beef, but a good bit of salt and pepper could greatly improve them. By the end of dessert it seemed everybody had enjoyed their meal, until an hour later I received a text to the effect of "Boston prices without Boston quality? never again." I pressed and he admitted he would've said it was good if it was cheaper, but for the same price he can get a better steak in the city. I have to agree with that point, of course the upside of being in Woburn is an abundance of free parking and relatively no traffic. It's up to you to decide what you're in search of, quality or convenience. Unlike a lot of other reviewers I was a fan of the décor, aside from the plethora of pictures of Mr. Varano with celebrities. I had never been to any of his restaurants before this, actually I had stayed away because of what I perceive to be an inflated vision of self worth. I was tempted to avoid this newest installment as well even though it landed in my hometown, but in the end I conceded that as a steak fan and the head of our steak club I must give this restaurant a fair shot. I'm glad I did. The food was good, the service was very good, and our night out with friends was good. I will be back.

I was hoping for more. Especially from a "Nick Varano" place of business. Spend less on the bottles of wine displayed on the walls and spend more on the attention on providing amazing food at better prices. I guess the phrase "less is more" shouldn't apply when it comes to dining out and opening your wallets. Sorry. Hope its better next time or there won't be a chance for a 3rd strike.

I have been here three times and have loved it each time. Brunch was The Elit Bloody Mary, wild mushroom frittata, cinnamon bun or the Nutella donuts, perfect! Lunch and dinner the exact same quality as brunch. Portions are ample and the service is perfect, it is all about the diner. Clean, nice ambiance, love it! I just wish people would dress as the restaurant deserves, but not all can be perfect!

Ridiculously overpriced. I ordered the dry aged ribeye and for $47 this steak should have been pretty good. Came out cooked correctly but was average at best. My wife ordered the salmon, which was also pricey for salmon, and this came out absolutely doused in butter. I took a bite and could feel my cholesterol rise. My wife rated the salmon as one of the worst she's had- and she always orders salmon. The sides we ordered were the Mac and cheese which was watery and so el dente that the shells were crunchy. Oh and for $28 you could add lobster to the Mac and cheese- what a deal. Can you sense my sarcasm? We also had the twice baked potato- again a $9 potato that was average at best. Oh I almost forgot about the popovers. These things are ridiculous. Mine was literally the size of a football and really didn't taste that great. I get you're trying to be different- but just give me some good bread with maybe some olive oil and I would be happy. Bigger is not always better. We sat in the lounge area and while our server was very sweet and did a good job- I didn't feel like we had service that would reflect such exorbitant prices. We eat at the capital grille a few times a year and come away feeling like we were treated like kings. On that note the steaks are similarly priced at the capital grille and are MUCH better. Would never return here. There are much better restaurants out there.

Tried Strega Prime last night for Dine out Boston. Boy are we happy we did not pay full price for this. First course - tomato and onion salad DRENCHED in dressing. I like to taste my vegetables and not just the super heavy and creamy dressing they used. Not good. Main course - Sirloin, twice backed potato, asparagus, and some super salty sauce on top. The sirloin was OK certainly nothing spectacular. The scooped out portion of the potato had the oddest flavor, could not pick out what it was, and the part of the potato left whole was hard, not cooked enough at all. Dessert - hazelnut silk pie. I think they took a tub of nutella and baked it on top of a graham cracker crust. I do love nutella but would prefer it jazzed up a little if I am paying big bucks. The decor is so odd, painted portraits of celebrities in the dining areas. When you first walk in the door there are pictures of the owner with celebrities - yes, they are the same pictures you see when you dine at Strega in the North end. Come on Nick, change it up. Then there are the wine cases- names on the individual cubbies - John Travolta, Lionel Richie, just to name a few. Sure these people hold they' re own wine in woburn.... Do yourself a favor and go to another steakhouse.

This is our second time here and the food and service far surpass the other local steak house, Capital Grill. The steak at Strega is always top quality and cooked to perfection, and your request. From drinks to desserts, everything is delicious, perfectly prepared and plated. We love Lynn, our server (who we requested for our second visit); she is knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We wish the complimentary popovers were less crispy, but the that is a small problem that gets lost in the delightful taste of the rest of meal. We are planning our next visit.

This restaurant replaced the Beacon Grille. The Beacon Grille had a nice, somewhat refined decor. Strega has taken us back to the late 1980s. The pictures of the owner with various Italian-American celebrities is kitschy and seems overly self-gratifying, but I digress. I went in for lunch and ordered the beef tenderloin salad. I was not asked how I would like the tenderloin served. The salad arrived with the beef on the bottom, which is a little different. I would have expected a tenderloin salad to have the beef come sliced, and on top. But, no problem. The beef itself tasted fine, but it was no tenderloin I had ever seen. The portions were big - but they were almost beef patties, very very thin, and lined the plate underneath. I know my steaks and this was unusual. The salad dressing was very good, with loads of arugula, but there were only a couple tomatoes and one little bit of blue cheese. Service was friendly an attentive. If you can get past the 1980s decor, it's a big, clean place. Overall, not bad, but I'm expecting more from an "Italian Steakhouse."

If you want a wonderful evening with all the charm you expect from a relaxing enjoyable dinning experience this is the place to go. Everything was luscious and well presented. Try the Cornish game hen, absolutely mouth watering with a risotto to rival mine.

Great food and amazing bar. Kevin is as professional and talented a bartender as they come. Classy place all the way, great vibe. I always feel welcome. My only gripe is the appetizers. They are great but I'd love to see some more exciting and daring creations. App menus are always a great place to let chefs go nuts and take chances. I'd love to see more of this! I always leave Strega satisfied!

Best steak, sides and apps around. I frequent 2 Boston steak houses and Strega might just keep me from heading to town as often. Staff was friendly and attentive but not overbearing and surprisingly good atmosphere. Plus no fuss parking. Will be back soon.

Wow, what can i say about this place? The food was great, the people were great, the atmosphere was great. I chose to take my now fiancee to Strega for Valentine's Day. The staff was so helpful with assisting me set up my proposal there. This is a place I will always remember and we will definitely go back.

We celebrated a birthday at Strega tonight. This was a good meal. This was not a great meal. The good - Service! Our server was very attentive and hospitable. She was helpful in making suggestions on the menu and understood the wine. If for the service alone, I would eat here again. The good - The bar! The drinks, including the wine selection were quite good. I could very easily end up in the bar after work for a few drinks. I am a bourbon drinker I and the leaf peeper was somewhat addictive. The okay - The food. The entrees were good, just not great. The gnocchi was by far the best I have ever tried but the duck it was served with was bland. The halibut risotto lacked seasoning. The steaks were cooked well but nothing special. The carrot cake, Italian s'more and bread pudding were okay. The zepolis were exceptional. Overall, for the money, there are better restaurants out there. Strega is known for their Italian roots and it was evident in the gnocchi. It's possible they have bitten off a little more than they can chew in the steakhouse atmosphere.

Business holiday lunch with a friend. Great place. First of all the atmosphere and the wait staff are fantastic. They scream "first class joint" from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. The clam chowder was very tasty. I believe they make it with pancetta instead of plain bacon and the taste is a bit non-trtaditional but very, very good, with a subtle spicy-herby kind of flavor that replaces the traditional smokiness of the bacon. My salad was terrific. I believe I had their version of the wedge. Very fresh lettuce, and after all, isn't that was salad is all about? The double pork chop was a bit overdone, but that was more our fault as we took forever to eat. Very tasty though and with an interesting fruit sauce. Additionally the martinis were great. Will definitely go again.

5 star service, 5 star food, and 5 star atmosphere. Its the closest thing to the back bay / waterfront feel but in Woburn. The food is fantastic. GREAT bar scene at night. The popover bread is to DIE for. The 3 course lunch meal is also great. Highly recommend if you live in suburbs and don't feel like going into boston.

Spectacular. That sums it up We went to Strega Prime for our wedding anniversary and we couldn't have selected a better venue. First our server, Marjorie, helped make the meal, she was knowledgable, cheerful but not over the top and her timing was impeccable. The other staff knew their jobs served and cleared like a well oiled machine. We started off with the seafood tower, everything was chilled properly, the oysters were shucked right and my wife thought the lobster tail was very good. I had the dry aged ribeye with creamed spinach, and Parmesan and truffle frittes (I could have made a meal out of those, I couldn't lay off had to bring part of my steak home). The steak was done right, tender, and well seasoned. My wife had the petite filet with a lobster tail she said her filet was the best she has had. We finished off with coffee and sharing a creme brûlée. The creme brûlée was done right with the custard still chilled and the Carmel crust not burnt and right thickness. This is going in our Rolodex as s a special occasion go to.

Perfect ambiance for a special night. Service was excellent, and the bar area, although overflowing with middle aged yuppies, looked like a good time. Food was good, to start I had a beet salad that popped with flavor. Although simple, when you use top notch ingredients like evoo and real lemon opposed to bottled, everything just tastes so much better! For dinner had the salmon (eh), and although everything was extremely overpriced, the service and ambiance justified it.

Stopped in without a reservation on our way back from the Red Sox game. We're luckily enough to get in at 5p on a Saturday. By 530p, there was a line. Service was excellent. I have never been to the other Strega restaurants, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The table ordered the Parmesan frites. They were so delicious I would have licked the bucket clean. I ordered the beet salad. It was a layer of creme fresh, 5 whole beets, with a bed of perfectly dressed arugula on top. It was sweet and the peppery arugula gave it a great finish. I had the halibut for my entree. It was well cooked, but slightly dry near the sear. The Maine crab and corn risotto it sat on top of tastes of fresh corn cut off the cob. My husband started with the lobster bisque. There were large chunks of lobster and even a full claw. I didn't taste it, but he said it was tasty. His entree was the salmon, which I did try. It was perfectly seasoned and not fishy. He ordered a side of the Mac and cheese. Creamy and salty, just the way we like it. The other couple we came with both had the pappardelle with wedge salads to start. Both said the salad and entree were good. After all of that, we couldn't possibly eat dessert, although those that we saw come out looked delicious. Food is excellent, though slightly overpriced, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. I will definitely go back.

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews on here. Especially regarding price. What did you expect?? Anyways, I had a great experience sitting at the bar here tonight. My personal seafood towers was exceptional and I thought a great value for the size. A must get! 2 large oysters, 2 large shrimp (some of the best i've had) 2 clams on the half shell, and half a lobster tail. For my main course I ordered the Prime Sirloin which was fantastic. The side of mashed was also great. My bulliet rye Manhattan was a reasonable $11 and the service was great. Another good experience from a Strega restaurant. Up there with the city steakhouses.

I was so excited to try Strega Prime today...I was both curious about the decor and intrigued by the menu. Upon entering we were warmly greeted by the host. The bar was lively and good mix of young professional and couples. We sat next to the fireplaces which was the best place to sit. The warmth of the fire and the glow of the light made for the perfect ambiance. And now the food. Popovers = excellent Oysters = fresh and sweet Crab pasta appetizer with pumpkin sauce = delicious (can't recall the name of the dish on the menu) Onion soup = savory and sweet with the caramelized onions which in essence was the perfect balance. Brocollini = fresh and crisp Bone in steak = tasty (had to sent it back 2x as it was not cooked medium as requested) Cheesecake and cherry sorbet = highlight of my meal! All in all it was really good. Nick said hello and made his rounds. There are a few kinks to be worked out but as with anything great, it takes time. I'll def be back.

Just had EASTER dinner for six there. Excellent. Service was impeccable I person had an issue with steak. It was taken car of immediately and nicely. Two of us had steak with the lobster tails. How do I say delicious more than once. One of the best meals we have ever had. Our waitress was excellent. I would go back there just for her name was Cheryl I think. So happy. Made our EASTER dinner Not inexpensive, but well worth it

I must say, my wife and I have been here twice and we have had 2 great experiences. I'll break it down like this: The service is unreal, they are quick to serve you and the initial greetings make you feel very welcome, the food & drinks comes out quick. More than just our server came out to ask us how we were doing. The decor is very modern with a elegant twist. We have never had to wait for a table at all. The restaurant is very clean which if could tell just by the spotless bathroom which always reflects the cleanliness of the kitchen. The food presentation is very nice and include very creative use of various garnishes. The meatballs are seriously the best I've ever had and I come from a Italian background so that means a lot (don't tell my mom, she'd kill me) The meatballs are not greasy, not created with filler, very moist and it's in a very tasty sauce with a ricotta underlay. The aged sirloin was very good but for $47 something tells me it could of been a been a tad bit better but it was still delicious for sure. The red sangria was awful but it was tolerable enough to finish. My wife got a mixed greens salad which she said was absolutely fresh and dressed well. Some reviews said the portions were small but I thought the opposite, they were very generous. The only problem I have is the prices, $14 for a meatball? $13 for fries? $47 for a steak? $14 for a Sangria? $170 for dinner for 2 with only one round of drinks, Yea, that's pretty pricey for sure but will I be back? Absolutely! I must add that there are pretty much only very highly attractive women that work there so it's a great place to come with your buddies and score some eye candy (sorry, I had to add that). So all together I would highly suggest this restaurant, only reason it wasn't 5 star was the prices and the"office park" location off of a major highway. Strega is awesome!!

I went for a business dinner and like so many others thought the whole experience was disappointing and over priced. (And I was expensing it!) I ordered a steak $44 and my guest ordered the halibut. When the food came they brought him salmon and my steak was over cooked. Medium rare was more like medium well. For a restaurant that wants to be considered a steak house and have $44 to $88 steaks on the menu, cooking it to a customers liking should be a gimmie. They offered to keep the steak warm and it came back the bruins could have used it in practice. However, the asparagus was good. Will I be going back to Strega Prime any time soon? Unlikely and even when I am not paying! Putting prices and dishes on a menu to act like a big Boston restaurant is one thing but living up to it is another. Keep trying Strega!

I was disappointed that a $47 Dry rubbed ribeye had absolutely no flavor except being over charred on the surface. The flavored butter that comes with it definitely does not belong on steaks. The New York Sirloin at $28 tasted much better. The appetizer was very good, (cheese and prosciutto i think), but the "rolls" of bread tasted too much like eggs and not enough like bread. Overzealous servers made me a bit uncomfortable. Seems like they were trying to make up for bad food with doting service. We won't return.

This place really really knows how to take care of people. Let's look at some reasons why I believe coming here and spending $140 for a dinner for two people is completely worth it: - The maître d' addressed me as Mr. [my last name], which was very nice, and when that's your first experience at a restaurant you can tell it's a classy place that cares about customers - We were seated in large, comfortable leather chairs with plenty of space - The table and place settings were perfectly clean and laid out properly for a fine dining restaurant - The waiter came over almost immediately and politely introduced himself - The waiter gave a very detailed summary of the menu, as we were new diners there, and you could tell he knew what he was talking about - The waiter helped us pick a bottle of wine that we really ended up enjoying - They served Yorkshire Puddings instead of rolls, which I thought was really nice - We ordered the appetizer with the homemade mozzarella, prosciutto, and vine tomatoes, and it was just amazing. The cheese was soft and melted on the fork, and the prosciutto was perfectly sliced, it was amazing. - My girlfriend and I both ordered steak. I ordered the broccolini side and she ordered the whipped potatoes side. It was absolutely phenomenal. The waiter suggested that the steaks were so flavorful on their own that if you order them any way besides well done that you don't really need a sauce. He was spot on with that advice. The steak didn't need a single thing added to it. - The waiter asked us if we were there for a special occasion. We told him that it was our 3 year anniversary. After dinner we were given a complimentary creme brule with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate around the plate. It was delicious and a very nice touch. Our meal ended up being 140 dollars and it was worth absolutely every penny. Clearly not a place we'd go every night, maybe once or twice a year, but boy was it worth it.

Just left after celebrating my husband's birthday. When we were seated, they asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. We said still, thinking it was tap but when we got the bill found out they charged $7.75 for it! They never offered any alternative either Our waiter was unpleasant so instead of having coffee and taking our time, we left The food was okay but I had to season my steak and my husband said his steak was not hot So disappointing. They did provide him with a birthday crime brûlée but unfortunately he doesn't like that. He's a chocolate guy Now we know

For the Boston restaurant week special, Strega Prime was offering a 3 course dinner menu for $38.00. Starters included chilled corn soup, caprese salad and smoke tuna tartare. For dinner entrees, patrons could choose between the 6 oz filet, grilled salmon, cornish hen or pappardelle. The two dessert options were chocolate cream pie and creme brulee. Some of us arrived early and got drinks at the bar. Some were on Asian time and one was stranded at the train station guilting me for not offering to pick her up. Although I didn't go with the sangria, the girls were used to a sweeter version and had the bartender add extra simple syrup so they could enjoy the blended wine. Once our party was seated in the semi private area in the back and we ordered drinks. Some stuck with wine and some went straight for tequila shots. Wow, what a fun table! Everyone had different opinions on the complimentary warm popovers. Some of the girls thought it was too salty, some tried to guess the ingredients and some just loved it. The server confirmed that there is both butter and cheese in it. For starters, the table shared calamari, oysters, meatballs, and lobster gnocchi as well as the included appetizers in the fixed menu (corn soup and salmon tartare) I think most people were stuffed before dinner was served but all the entrees looked too amazing to pack home. The cornish hen with risotto was beautifully plated. It looked damn good. I had steak all week so I switched it up to the rack of lamb. It was the best lamb I've ever had ! The meat was tender, flavorful and plentiful! It was so good that I caught myself nibbling every piece of meat from the ribs. Most of the girls went with the 6 oz filet, who doesn't love a good filet steak? You can't go wrong with a filet. For a shared side, there was wild mushroom and truffle risotto. Someone said it was too "mushroomy" but I thought it was great. By now, everyone was stuffed and most of the girls took their dessert to go. Some of us made room and had a few bites of creme brulee and a fantastic brownie topped with vanilla gelato. It was out of this world! Service was exceptional and they put up with a loud and crazy group of girls. The general manager came to check up on us and offered us a round of limoncello on the house. That was really sweet and generous of them. I had such a great time ! I laughed so much, Maybe next time we can check out the STRIP? .

My first time at Strega prime. The atmosphere is beautiful, stunning rather. I love all of the Giovanni art work, it's my favorite. My waiter Carmelo, was knowledgable, friendly, and overly nice to the "dieters" with complicated strict diet plans who I dined with. He made suggestions and made it seem like they were ordering something normal. I will be back for sure (with out them). The food at Strega was exceptional. I got the halibut and highly recommend it. I was also with someone who doesn't like seafood and made them try the halibut, they loved it. Strega prime is my new favorite place. I was 100% happy there.

I can't write enough praise for this place from this evening's dinner. From the moment the hostess sat us to the moment we left, the staff was on point. My dining companion and I both ordered shrimp cocktail. These were unbelievable. Giant and tasty, and the cocktail sauce was great to boot. Moving on to the dinner, we had the Delmonico steak and the bone in fillet. Both were cooked to our medium rare request, which if you order that temperature you know doesn't happen all the time. The whipped potatoes were great, and the asparagus had the right amount of snap. Most importantly, the food tasted great. I did not have any of the issues that anyone else had. Our wait staff looked very professional and were polite and playful. Please keep in mind this is a very expensive meal. Our bill was $200+ for two people. This is a place for a special night out. If you have the experience I did, you won't be disappointed. Cheers to Strega Prime!

I just have to say the entire experience last night was OUTSTANDING! So, it was my anniversary and we made reservations for 830 last night. We arrived promptly and was greeted by the valet. We were promptly seated and to our surprise there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us Our waiter was extremely knowledgable about the the menu, the different variations of wine and was absolutely amazing! We had a meatball appetizer that was simply OUT OF THIS WORLD! The waiter served it to us and kept our champagne filled throughout. Our dinner which was a filet and the seafood pasta was absolutely divine! The food came out timely, was cooked to perfection and honestly, I didn't not want to leave. As our meal came to a close, I was greeted by the VP who made me feel like my patronage was valued. He thanked me for returning and sent out a complimentary desert that was so delicious it should be illegal!!!! I want to add that I was so incredibly tired, from working all day, not feeling well and it showed. My "sickly appearance" didn't detour the level of service we received. I felt like celebrity, which is how every woman should feel on her wedding anniversary. Thank you Strega prime for giving my husband and I a night to remember! It was an amazing experience!!!!!

Just a great meal all the way around. First time here was Thanksgiving and that was a great time as well. This time we sat next to the "fireplace" in the wall (2 top) great seat also the warmest coziest seat in the place. A must try no matter the day or meal.

The food here was fantastic. However, the time it took for 10 of us to have a meal was an eternity. Our meal started at 6:30pm and did not end until after 9pm. The pace of which things come out is incredibly slow... they like to say, made with care. It's the only reason they didn't get 5 stars. The steak was amazing. Prepared perfectly... cooked to perfection, seasoned just right... you will not be disappointed.

I've been to Prime many times now. Every since it opened, Strega Prime has filled a void that the outskirts of Boston has had for many years. There was a time where if you lived in the burbs, you'd have to drive all the way into Boston to get a real Italian steakhouse experience. Not anymore! My favorite thing about SP is that when Friday rolls around and I'm tired from the work week abuse, I can drive 15 minutes, hand the valet my keys, and have an authentic experience. It allows me to get lost in the beautiful decor and lively energy while enjoying some prime cuts and wonderfully crafted appetizers. And speaking of wonderfully crafted, the same drink I order at strega waterfront, I can enjoy at SP for a fraction of the cost but the same great quality. I recently met the management team here, bunch of genuinely great guys really concerned about the customer experience. I really admire that. So here's my recommendation: go in, let your hair down, order some apps and a big steak to share with your babe, sip on a nicely balanced cocktail and just watch the weeks woes melt away!

Poor service, poor service, poor service. I had to ask for water twice, my bottle of wine twice- even once getting up to find the manager, bread twice, meals were unappealing and Crème Brule was curdled. I had eaten here before and it was a treat. Never again. I was embarrassed as I had brought a friend from out of town- a foodie who loves a good steak house. Go into the city and eat at Capital Grille!

I had dinner at Strega Prime on an August Friday evening with my wife and a friend. Its a solid, higher end steak house. My impression is that it is very well run restaruant with lots of staff to make your meal enjoyable. Our server was fantastic -- very knowledgeable about the food and wine, very attentive, but still reserved (i.e. not overwhelming service). The space is pretty large, with a good sized bar area -- upscale, modern, and crisp. We started off with a bottle of Prosecco and then had cocktails and glasses of wine through the rest of dinner. We shared the cold seafood sample and the carpaccio/tartare combo. I had a filet, my wife had sea bass, my friend had rack of lamb, and we shared truffle fries and asparagus. For desert we shared the key lime pie and some chocolate thing (I'm not much into deserts, but my wife loves chocolate sweets). The wine list is massive and cocktails are well prepared. Proportions across the board are generous. All the seafood, ranging from the shrimp and lobster to the oysters were fresh and well prepared, and the carpaccio/tartare was succulent. I think my wife's sea bass was the winner here -- they do seafood/fish very well here, in general. The lamb and filet were both very well prepared. My filet was cooked perfectly rare as I ordered. I've probably had more tender filets and lamb, but the meat was very flavorful. Deserts were top notch. Strega is a little pricey, but we had very enjoyable dinner.

I always wanted to give this place a try and I'm very glad I did! The decor is very beautiful. They also have outside seating. I came here on my Birthday for lunch and was very impressed. All the waiters are very acknowledgeable! The food here is simply amazing, the lunch course offers an appetizer, entree and desert to finish off. I ordered the New York Sirloin steak with truffle fries on the side (this was not part of the lunch special.) My mom however did order off the lunch special and she ordered Cod which came with gnocchi's in a very delicious sauce. Our waiter Frank was very sweet! They even sang Happy Birthday to me. My mom and I really enjoyed my visit here and will definitely be back.

The perfect restaurant. Service, food quality, preparation all added up to a wonderful evening. The steak, apps, deserts are purely delicious. ULA the person that made our night is worth requesting as your server. We are non drinkers so I cannot vouch for the wine etc. I will return. Big Tony - Waltham

I made reservation through OpenTable for Dine Out Boston for lunch on Sunday, not knowing that they serve the dinner menu. So we ended paying $38 for the same 3 course lunch which is advertised for $20. The restaurant is upscale and beautiful decorated, but there were only 4 tables occupied on Sunday when we were there. There were more staff than customers. The food was very expensive and rather disappointing. My husband ended getting the chilean sea bass, which was very bland. The lobster bisque was very thin and seemed watered down.

This is the best meal I've had in a long time! I wasn't sure what to expect and it far exceeded my expectations. First, the homemade popovers to start were to die for. I devoured mine and could have easily gone back for more. No one does homemade popovers anymore so it's a great, memorable touch. For apps we had raw oysters (huge wellfleets) and the burratta. I thought the burratta dish could have been a little better as the sauce was a little strange and it was kind of hard to eat but the cheese itself was fabulous. For entrees we had the ricotta tortellini and the ribeye steak. The tortellini was one of the best pasta dishes, I've had, ever. Usually pasta is heavy but theirs is so light, almost like a won ton wrapper . I would have never thought to pair pasta like this with a parsnip puree but it totally worked. The entire dish just worked together. The husband loved his ribeye steak and side of Mac & Cheese (also one of the best we've had in a while!) ate every bite. Far too stuffed to try dessert, but definitely next time. The only down side is that the restaurant is a little stuffy, mostly some of the diners and staff. However, our waiter was great, super friendly and personable. Will definitely go back!

I was looking forward to going to Strega Prime because I've heard nothing but good things about Strega north end. I was so disappointed! I got the 45 day aged NY bone in sirloin and although it wasn't completely terrible, I was expecting way more. Over cooked and just a so so steak. My wife on the other hand ordered 45day aged delmonico and it was terrible! Over cooked to the point that the steak was tough! I did enjoy my salad and my martini was perfect. I want to make something very clear; we were only unhappy with the food! The staff was phenomenal as was the decor. I really hoped the food was better.

You know when you just know you're not going to like some place but your cathartic stem-winder of a review is denied by genuine good service and good food? Through no fault of this restaurant, I got yanked into a dinner in a distant suburb. No T. Too far for a taxi. So visions of sugar plum cocktails and glasses of wine danced in my head only to avoid drunk visions of a State Trooper's lights in my rearview mirror on the drive home. At least I liked the people we were meeting. The entrance is covered in pictures of the owner with celebrities. If I want to bathe in an ego bath I can listen to interviews with me and bathe in my very own, thank you. The interior is dark and dramatic. Brassy. It works. Our waiter was a nice guy. Also, he knew the menu. An old world touch I appreciate. He answered the ladies' questions about what's-in-what. He didn't sweat us lingering over appetizers. The appetizers were great, by the way. Creamy, fresh burrata. A meatball the size of a soccer ball in a great marinara. The bread was fantastic. And they bring popovers. They had a veal chop. Marsala wine sauce? Sign me up. An mushroomy, deep marsala wine sauce was just what the doctor ordered. Except that it was sweet and goopy, like barbecue sauce. The waiter had praised it mightily when we were ordering, so when he came by to check on the table I told him it wasn't really my thing. He instantly offered to bring me something else. We were half done. I didn't really want to make a big deal out of it. Everything else was great. A few minutes later the manager came by to check on us. Everything was fine, we all said. He came back a few minutes later to ask about the veal. I was honest, but didn't want to make a fuss. He apologized, even though I was far from perturbed. He brought out desert and a digestif for the table. He took the veal off of the bill. Really they acted with aplomb and I certainly appreciate it. But as I said, everything else was great. Truffle fries were spot on. Brussel sprouts were just tender enough. It's likely we'll be back.

What a beautiful place. Delicious and elite. You truly get what you pay for here, and the customer service is outstanding. The staff is phenomenal and they treat their guests like royalty. I have never had a bad experience here. You may even see someone famous! The walls are lined in some areas with pictures of celebrities that have enjoyed their time there, and visit frequently! Steaks are mouth watering while the sides are just so damn good. The mac and cheese is to die for, and the onion ring side with the spicey aioli is heavenly for example. Popovers to start! :) I've tried quite a bit of the menu over all of my visits and I've been impressed every time. Worth every penny.

Really really good! Wine, steak yeah yeah. I am writing about dessert. I feel that dessert doesn't get enough attention, since it's at the end of the meal and people are so full they can't eat it. Well save room for this one! We ate there last night and had Oreos, dipped in red velvet cake batter, deep fried, with cream cheese gelato. Amazing! I want more right now. We also had neutella bread pudding! Not to rich, warm, and delish. Unfortunately I don't have a pic of that one since we ate it so fast. But the Oreos I do have. If you want some good wine and a great dessert go here! Eat dinner here too but it's defiantly worth just the dessert too. SAVE ROOM!

This is a nice addition to Woburn and neighboring towns. You almost get a closer-to-the-city experience but in the 'burbs. The restaurant is beautiful - elegant and more modern than your usual steakhouse. There is a big bar area and with several large flat-screens. I suspect this would be a good after-work place to unwind and meet other professionals. We walked in for our Thanksgiving dinner and there was no hostess so we had to wait a bit. She finally arrived and clearly didn't want to be working - no "Happy Thanksgiving" or any greeting for that matter. Just a "How many?" She was very young so was probably lacking experience but Strega Prime should have proper training for a restaurant of this price-range. Even though we didn't see our waitress for long breaks between getting things (drinks, ordering food, getting the bill etc), she was very sweet and funny. Though a bit salty, I loved the NE clam chowder with the smoked haddock in it. My lobster tail was tiny - about the size of a large shrimp. The wild mushroom and truffle risotto is decent but lacked in truffle flavor. When I am back in town, I'd stop in to watch a game and have a drink but now that the area is flourishing with higher end restaurants, I'd go elsewhere to dine.

Well? The Varano group has done their homework. Steaks? Out of this world. Appetizers? Pieces of Artwork and atmosphere is quite enjoyable to the eye. Though the one thing that truly made this experience special was out server, I've never enjoyed a dinner so much with such an amazing, knowledgeable and entertaining server before. answering every question with a smile and in a very professional demeanor. 10/10 Id request him again, definitely coming back!

I live only 20 min away and I often come to Strega Prime for dinner instead of going to Boston. It is not always available for the time I want , so I usually make a reservation day or two in advance. I love their food , love the ambiance and service is fantastic. Place is always clean ( including the bathrooms ). Recently I started to ask to sit us in the back room. It is beautiful , more private , less noisy, relaxing space with a big screen TV, playing old movies . All of that makes me feel very special. Tonight we had our dinner in the back room, the place was unusually packed but our dinner was still very pleasant. The reason I prefer to eat only in the back room : I like to be able to talk and hear my guests voices only . If you like to enjoy your own friends and family always ask to dine in the back room .

Stopped in for a bite after a pre lunch meeting with the DEP. My chicken and mozzarella panini made me forget all about the pervious few hours. Thank goodness. Service was slow. Not sure if they were giving us space but it took way too long to get those delicious popovers to the table. Fries were pretty good to. Place is a bit high end so glad the lawyers I was with picked up the tab. Sure I'm paying for it one way or another. I'm sure dinner is an experience here but lunch was ok. Would expect the panini anywhere though. Popovers provided the 3rd star otherwise it's a two star for me folks.

My boyfriend and I went here for New Year's Eve. We had been to the waterfront location and really enjoyed the entire experience and so we were looking to have our socks knocked off again at this location. That did not happen. Our server was rude and clearly not interested in up selling or really even talking to us more then taking the order. The shrimp cocktail and east coast oysters are good. The bread is delightful! But no one cleared the crumbs before dinner service. The blue cheese olives in my boyfriends martini were great. My pear martini was just pear vodka chilled. Not good. I guess I should have known since they don't have a cocktail menu. (Or at least we were never given one). Only a wine list. Our meals were good. Dessert was yummy. But again the service was lack luster. We expect more when paying upwards of $200 for a nice meal.

Ah...The Italian steakhouse with its dark hues, soft lighting and wood paneling. In the entrance the owner has pics with celebrities like athletes(cool), the cast of the Sopranos(cooler then) and Kim Kardasian(c'mon!!). Needless to say, the food is old school. Instead of bread, you have a popover. I haven't seen one since Pier 4 20 years ago. Popovers are soft, buttery yet light...when they are not burnt. Somehow they are not as fluffy. There is much to like about Strega. The service was excellent. We had two very accommodating waiters and the salad was flavorful. However, the mains are overly sauced. I had the scallops on a pile of mashed potatoes in a sea of sauce. My girls fish was cooked incredibly well, but it was on its own pond. Simple is better and more flavorful without an over preponderance of ingredients The place has potential, and I would try it again. Hopefully the saucier has the night off

The atmosphere is great I love the black and white movies they play. I went for my husbands Christmas party. Let me say first I am not a fan of fancy upscale restaurants, so it is very hard to get a high ranking from me. the staff were all friendly. I went with the steak, it was good. I am not a good judge of what an expensive steak is supposed to taste like so I probably wouldn't go and pay $50 for one again. the fries were good also. overall if your into fancy places this place is great.

My company had their Christmas dinner at Strega Prime last night. We were a party of 8 and the food and service were superb. The management and staff obviously know what they are doing, and it shows. Trendy atmosphere. We started with the seafood tower and veal dumplings, I had a dry-aged rib eye staek, I asked for medium rare and it was spot-on. Our server was attentive but not intrusive. For a nice dinner out, if you're in the mood for excellent old-school Italian-American cuisine, or a great steak, I strongly recommend Strega Prime.

Just got back from a lunch with my uncle on a Friday afternoon. We had made a reservation for noon, but it wasn't needed as there were plenty of open tables. By the time we left a little after 1, the bar was almost full and more tables had filled up. But why I am wasting time with tables and reservations when you're really reading this to hear how the food and maybe the service was. Let's start with the food. Three words - Popovers, popovers and popovers! Now you may say, "hey man, that's the same word three times," and you'd be right, but each bite of the popover will make you see that they deserve at least 3 words. Crispy goodness on the outside lead to an airy center of delectable tastefulness on the inside. Put a little butter in there and "hot damn!" that's one hell of a popover. After the popover we both enjoyed a cup of clam chowder. It was more soup than chowder, which I preferred. Not heavy and creamy. Plenty of clams, hams, and smoked haddock providing an excellent flavor. For the main course I had the "Carne Trifolata E Formaggi" - Steak, blend of cheeses, popover, caramelized onions, frites. Yep, another popover! Little did I know we'd be getting popovers when I ordered this but I didn't regret it. This is basically half a popover filled with steak and cheese and onions. They brought me a knife to cut it, but I decided to take my chances with picking it up and biting away. It worked well without much of a mess and it was delicious. Tender steak, melted cheese and onions in a popover shell. Yes Please! Oh, and there were fries too, which were good but I was too busy with the popover steakbomb. If I had to give it one criticism, it was a bit salty and I like salt. Could have been between the fries and sandwich. Next time, and there will be one, I'd ask for a small side salad instead of the fries. My uncle had the burger which looked amazing and he thoroughly enjoyed. He felt it was a bit heavy for lunch and would probably get a salad next time. For dessert, which I had no room for but my uncle insisted upon, we ordered the key lime pie. Quite delicious and a nice palate cleanser after the "Carne Trifolata E Formaggi." Service was excellent. Our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Price was decent for a steakhouse with our entrees costing around $15-$20. You could end up spending a lot here depending on what and how much you order, but if you are worried about price, you shouldn't go here, as it will take away from the enjoyment of the food. In summary the food was a solid 4 and the service a 4.5. Well done Strega for bringing a high class steak house to the Woburn suburbs!

Went here for my anniversary and was blown away!! First things first, I give a 5 Star review on Lynn our waitress!!!! She was seriously the best waitress I have ever had in my life!! And that's definitely saying a lot because I've been to a countless array of restaurants. She was attentive and always available when needed. She gave me some great advice on my pregnancy and was so genuine. Let's not forget the food! It was amazing! I had the grilled salmon with parsnip purée and Brussels sprouts and it was beyond delicious! I also had a taste of my boyfriends filet mignon and that was very well cooked as well. Lynn even gave us two free desserts! A crème brûlée for our anniversary and a candied pecan cheesecake; both were amazing! All I can say is we will definitely be back to Strega and recommend it to all our friends!

Went in for my Grandpa's 80th birthday and after hearing less then stellar things I was not really expecting much. Was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. Our group had about 20 people in the back function room. First the bar area looks like a Vegas lounge -- in a good way. The whole place felt like a Disneyfied version of Sinatra era Vegas with a bit of a modern flare...complete with the equivalent of a Sinatra impersonator on the mic. Was it cheesy? - absolutely, but I still liked it. The entire function room space is pretty big and decked out in dichromatic grey and black, High def TV with Casablanca running on a loop (did not really get that as its not really an Italian staple) but the whole place was definitely my style. We got a ton of different food family style - standouts include the tuna crudo and the beef carpachio. For mains I heard the steak was all good. I had entree envy as the pappadelle in 3 meat bollengise was bland even when I added a meatball. Best was the warm nutella doughnuts and the brownie sundae for desserts. The two waiter team was really good they put on a show with their wit and skill, and were very knowledgeable (learned the diff between Kobe and Waygu) - it was almost to a point of being too involved in the party (few interruptions and storytelling that overshadowed our own conversations and goings on). They also were pushing a bit too hard - I got the doughnuts at the mere mention of it sounding good, and they brought me a 4th drink even after specifically refusing one. Was glad on both accounts -but it was a bit presumptuous and pushy. Overall through, they were engaging and did an amazing job. Great experience I recommend for a function

Fabulous! We had a lovely dinner there recently. The food was perfect. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass & my boyfriend ordered the Lobster & gnocchi. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our selections. They have a large martini list of which my bf had two from the list,, this fabulous beet martini,,,,, Yes!,,,, beet! So surprisingly delicious. I am usually deterred from fine dining because I feel staff is stuffy & impersonal, To my surprise, the staff was friendly & welcoming. Lynn was our server and we absolutely loved her. We will definitely be back. I do recommend making reservations, the restaurant does get quite busy.

Went last night for our 10th anniversary. Had a few drinks at the bar before and the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Had the crab cake for an appetizer and it was good but smaller than we would have liked. We both order the petite filet (medium for me and medium well for my wife). Both cooked perfectly. Would have liked it with something other than the butter but still good. The side were the wild mushroom risotto, asparagus and creamed spinach. We could have made a meal out of the risotto it was so good. The creamed spinach wasn't very good and had an odd "minty" flavor. Server was great and suggested different items. Came back at the end with creme brûlée for our anniversary. I'm not sure they can justify Boston prices being in an office building in Woburn but good overall.

I came here for restaurant week last Sunday with my mom and we really enjoyed ourselves. The service was GREAT, I mean really great. Everyone working there was very polite, and treated you like a queen, even the people who weren't serving you. I just remember asking where the bathroom was and the person spoke to me like I was royalty--really makes you feel good as a customer when the service is that great. I ordered: Mussels Sirloin Steak with twice baked potatoes Hazelnut (Nutella) cream pie The mussels was more like a mussel chowder. The mussels were out of their shells and in a creamy wine sauce with onions and some other veggies. It was really delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the twice baked potatoes were awesome. Instead of bread, they serve freshly-baked popovers. They put them in the oven when you sit down so they really are hot and fresh when they're served to you--simply delicious and a unique touch. Also want to mention how cool the decor is. The room is decorated really modern and classy. We sat next to a small fire place which was really nice and cozy. The bar looks awesome and is huge, we will be coming back to hang at the bar with some appetizers

I had two update my review based on a recent comparison. Went for lunch at capital grill yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. Got a similar combo for $18 and the steak was super tender, and the salad was dressed perfectly and had tones of flavor. The quality was exponentially better than strega prime and yet the price and service were the same or better. The steak at strega prime was very tough and the salad lacked flavor. It just wasn't worth the price given competition right down the road.

On the face of it this establishment looks like a Prime Steakhouse should. Lively atmosphere but not too loud thankfully. Tasteful decor, and the staff are quite attentive considering it was Saturday night and at capacity. Great unpretentious menu selection. I ordered the lobster bisque and the bone in filet, both of which were okay..... But not stellar. One of the people in our party ordered the dry aged rib eye. Not so good and was sent back. Cooked correctly, but a tough cut. That is where Stega falls down. A lot of money for ok meat. On the positive side, they took the steak off the bill.

Boyfriend and I had been saying for a while that we'd try out Strega Prime for a while, as per a recommendation from his co-worker and our love for steak. They happen to be doing restaurant week, and we were in need of a date night, so he surprised me and made us reservations for dinner yesterday. He'd originally set it for 7pm, but had to change it to 6:30, which was absolutely fine. A hostess called yesterday mid-morning to confirm our reservation - very professional. We arrived on time and were seated immediately, and were given the option of a window or middle table. We sat by the window and had a nice view of the main dining area. Very enjoyable decor - Old Hollywood along with classy/chic style. There were several TV screens mounted on the far wall, each showing a different classic Hollywood film on mute - nice touch, in my opinion (plus, one of my favorites was on - Roman Holiday!) The waitstaff were all extremely professional and polite. Very nice and classy, if that's what you're looking for. They were very attentive, as well, without making us feel rushed at all. They had a variety of seating options available - two person intimate tables, mid-sized tables, large booths, private rooms, high tops in the bar, and bar seats. There were some kids there that I saw, but not younger children (probably not the best atmosphere for a rambunctious 2 year old). Their menu was filled with interesting dishes of many kinds. We did the Restaurant Week menu option, and I ordered the salmon tartare, 12 oz rib eye, and chocolate cake. My date ordered the chilled corn/crab soup, 12 oz rib eye, and the creme brulee. There were definitely highs and lows - the crab/corn soup was better than the salmon tartare (a little too much red onion, I think). The rib eyes were a bit over cooked - we'd both asked for medium rare and they were more like medium-medium well. But we didn't send them back because the meat was still tasty and tender and edible (had they been tough and unpleasant to eat, we would have asked them to fix the order). Both desserts were delicious, but we were pretty full and took half of each home. I don't know that I'd return, though, unless there were some sort of special going on (restaurant week, lunch, etc). The prices are extremely high, and although the food was pretty yummy, I don't know that I'd choose to go and spend $40+ on a piece of meat (plus additional $8-15 per side). I'd personally rather grab a nice steak from the butcher for $20 and make some fresh veggies and potatoes with a nice bottle of wine - whole dinner for under $40 (plus plenty of leftovers!). But Strega is nice if you've got the money to spend and would rather not cook your steaks at home. The service was wonderful, the decor was charming and beautiful, and I had a really lovely night.

I visited Strega a few weeks ago for my boyfriend's bday. We had a fabulous time. The interior is very funky and vibrant.. the food and service is impeccable. I have to say, best service I have probably ever had. The staff here really goes out of their way to make you feel special and they are very attentive. My only observation or comment would be.. why do the hostesses have to dress like who#es?

Hmmm ... bunch of bent-nosed hosts, walking around in ill-fitting cheap suits is supposed to make this a 1st class restaurant? I could only see 10 other diners from my seat, 4 were wearing flip flops, 6 were wearing jeans and the guy in front of me was wearing sweatpants, a Red Sox T Shirt and flip flops. Don't these people look in the mirror before going out in public? An "Italian Steakhouse"? Just because you can oder a pasta dish or two, doesn't make a restaurant an Italian anything. The Chef at this restaurant couldn't find Italy with the Pope and a GPS, leading the way. Most everyone has already mentioned how over-priced this place is, so I'll just use the word "obscene" to describe their pricing. $48 for an average Filet Mignon? & who ever heard of butterflying a $48 steak? Apparently the Chef at Strega's thinks that's acceptable. Service was good, food was average at best. The popovers were the highlight of our dinner. If you get stuck in Burlington or Woburn and need food, drive right past Strega's and head for the Cafe Escadrille or L'andana and get a decent meal at a fair price.

Terrible.....just absolutely terrible. I feel as if Strega Prime launched an attack on all of my senses from the moment I walked in. Which I think paying $200 to voluntarily be assaulted is usually considered sadism/masochism, which might also be illegal. The pictures of the owner with celebrities plastered all over the walls, everywhere, from the moment you walk in, is so ridiculously tacky, it makes me laugh. The waitstaff uniforms are strange. Seemed like young girls were wearing a bad costume circa Robert Palmer "Addicted to Love" while the men, and women over 25, had normal waitstaff uniforms (and didn't have to wear heels). The staff seemed disorganized and confused. We sat in the bar area and had 10 different people wait on us (and 10 different people mess up). Our order was completely wrong, starting with the apps to the entrees, and everything came out at weird times. Mussels first (weird cream sauce), then wrong salad came. After sending the salad back, the steaks came out (one of them was the completely wrong steak). Waiting for correct steaks, salad came back. Then correct steaks, but both cooked wrong. We didn't bother ordering dessert, but they sent us tiramisu and lemoncello to make up for the massive disaster the rest of the night had been. The tiramisu was actually really good, and the gesture was appreciated. When the bill came, it was totally wrong and we were overcharged (naturally).

We went there on a Tuesday for lunch. Waited a while to be acknowledged, and was brought to a "good seat" according to the host. I didn't think it was a good seat and the chairs were very uncomfortable. Probably good for a large man, not for a medium or small woman. We had to flag an employee down to have someone take our order, and the place was not even crowded. My friend ordered a steak sandwich and was brought a chicken sandwich. I ordered the Cobb salad priced at $14.00 which was a fair price. I asked if I could have steak in place of the chicken. They came back to the table and said they would put the steak on it, but the price would be $20.00. I said that was ok, The steak was ok, nothing to rave about for sure. The salad was terrible and was served in a dish that was suited more for a Banana split. The whole experience was VERY DISAPPOINTING, and needless to say would not go back. Don't be fooled by the name.

So we decided to go here on our 5th wedding anniversary. Just from the commercials alone, I had my doubts on how good they actually are, since they seemed more wrapped up on how flashy and typically Mob/Sopranos/goodfellas they want to be. But I'm a big Italian fan and steak fan- plus they are down the road, so why not? Don't get my wrong, it was "nice" inside - a little gaudy with the crazy chandeliers and decor, but decent for the most part. But what was the most irritating thing is that they really all do think they are living the Goodfellas life in there. It's actually humorous. Every employee was male. Either your typical giant men in suits and too much jewelry, or these skinny, young teen boys (bussing). Our waiter wasn't very good, was pushy with what he thought we should order, never brought us bread (had to ask a bus boy) and just seemed disinterested. We both got the steak at poive, which I've had in other restaurants, and this was horrible. Steak was over cooked and so overly peppered/blackened, it was uneatable, though I didn't dare complain. Twice baked potato was really good, apps were ok, dessert, decent. We were just so distracted with how stereo typical this place was. The clientele, I noticed, was either couples like us, trying it out, or people straight out of Jersey Shore. Lots of big hair, hair gel, fake nails, over tanning, big bad jewelry and tough guys As we were leaving the guys working there were doing the double handshakes with each other, talking about how tony will hook you up with whatever, etc. Bizaare. Aside from the steak, the food was good - but the environment was so distracting, it overshadowed it. The best way I can describe it, is like going to King Richards Fair in the fall, except this is the Sopranos fair, and they don't think they are pretending.

Ok, so I was still a vegetarian at the time so laugh at me if you must, but the burrata salad was really good! The chef even customized it for me as I wanted a different variety of vegetables than it called for on the menu. The people around me who ordered the fish selections (sea bass and swordfish) liked their food, and the individuals who ordered steaks had mixed reviews.

Private room business dinner The line items * Wait service was perfect * Cocktails were good * Most dishes were very good * East coast oysters were good * Risotto was al dente ... way too al dente * Broccoli and brussel sprouts were very excellent sides * My dry rib eye was ordered medium rare, but came medium well. A replacement was offered immediately by the attentive staff. I did not want it exchanged as it would have disrupted the dinner conversation. Overall, the dry rib eye was flavorless and I cannot recommend it. --- I think everyone else liked their meats. * Bill - I believe that one bottle of wine too many was on the bill, but I didn't catch it until the next day. Gratuity and admin fee added 23% * Value - Marginal amid high prices and fees. Still, the atmosphere and service make me a fan.

As you can tell from most of the reviews price is an issue here. While the steak I had was good somehow $47.00 bucks for a steak ( and nothing else but a popover) is a bit dear. Service is excellent but in a way that you feel they want to turn the tables as fast as possible. 1. I ordered a salad which arrived within 1 minute. It was large ( overly so) and over dressed so that the salad greens were soggy. 2. The popovers are ok but again out of place. I felt like I was transported back to the 70's at Anthony's Pier 4. 3. The steak was good ( actually really good) but at $47.00 not that good. 4. They do make a very nice martini. While dinner was good you had this rushed feeling. Drinks and food arrive in a flash...plates are whisked away as soon as they are empty and the waiter appears " do you want desert?". No; boom the check arrives. Stega has the feel of a super high priced fast food establishment. There are smaller less slick places in the area with much better value and that are far more relaxing places for dinner. Life is fast and stressful for many of us; no need to make dinner a stressful race.

We celebrated a week of tech. work. A bartender at Marriott's said Strega is the place for a soup of lobster, fish, shrimp and linguine. We ate in the bar, the vibe was abuzz and friendly. It's a cool place, big screens across the bar, high quality furniture, glass everywhere, great customer service too. The halibut was a standout: is was a perfectly grilled, 4 inch cube of ultra yummy fresh halibut. A fork would flake off sections of the tender yummy sweet tasting buttery halibut ; it came on a portion of yummy risotto with a generous hunk of truffle. $34 and worth every penny. The Caprese was the best I have ever had: thick slices of fresh tomato, with dollops of yummy thick buttery buffalo mozzarella. On the left side was a drizzle of pesto and on the right side was an artful drizzle of thick balsamic vinegar. $15 - I am worthy. The chosen wine was a Super Tuscan by ...Carpazo...$7 a glass. Nice body, black berry cherry nose, with a deep berry flavor. Like steak in a glass! I enjoyed two glasses. My dinner was $65 w/o tip. My water glass ran out a couple time and my two friends said their steak was tough but tasted ok. Could have been a tough night. Customer service: first rate.mostly.

Don't even deserve the one star:(((( Great popovers but the owners need to bring it down a notch! Reserved a table and requested a side table for privacy.. Got there on time and tried to seat us in a middle table. And when I said I requested a side table, the owner came over and said he didn't have an open side table and can either sit at the bar or come some other time! They were very nice when they first open, not sure what really happened with their customer service! YOUR LOSS

$50 bone in filet, ordered medium rare, came out dead on well done, sent back, no one came to apologize. There's really only one prime thing you HAVE to get right in a $$$ steakhouse. Pass on this suburban factory, too many other good choices

My boyfriend and I tried Strega for the first time last week, as we had been told it was really good and that we'd love it. Short story: great food and drinks, terrible service. Details of our visit: We went on a Thursday evening, and it was busy, but we did get seated relatively promptly for being two dopes who didn't make reservations. It took the waiter quite some time to visit our table, and it's not as if he didn't know we were there - he walked by a few times. We got our water, and I finally had to tell him we were ready to order our drinks, because he never asked. Two Ketel One martinis, up, extra dry, extra dirty. When they finally made it to the table (10-15 minutes later), they were delicious. About 10 minutes after that, our waiter finally made his way back to our table and we ordered our food - oysters, for an appetizer, then for our meals we both got salmon. The oysters came out at a decent time, and were delicious. After we were done with our oysters, we sat and waited for our food. And waited. And waited. Approximately 45min. after we received our oysters we finally flagged down our waiter, who hadn't even bothered to check in with us, or apologize for the wait, and asked him if there was a problem in the kitchen. "I'll ask the chef." Two minutes later, he came back carrying our dinner plates with his hands covered in towels - the plates were scalding hot - obviously from sitting in the hot food window for far too long. From what I can remember, he didn't even caution us to how hot the plates were. Regardless, our salmon was crusty on the top from sitting under a lamp - luckily, it hadn't been dried out through and through, and was actually quite delicious. By the time we were done with our meals, it was 9:30pm. In the whole time we were there, I think our waiter exhanged words with us three or four times. Never apologized for the wait, never thanked us for coming in...just did not care. He would rather pay attention to the bigger parties he had. On our way out, my boyfriend asked to speak with a manager. We weren't looking for any freebies or anything, just wanted to let him know what our experience was like. He told him the drinks and food were great, but the service was off. Instead of apologizing or doing anything of the sort, the manager said something to the tune of, "Really? We usually have a great service here - that's usual." This guy had no idea what to do or say, and ended up taking down my boyfriends name and number and said he'd have someone call him (about what, I don't know - perhaps just a courtesy from someone who actually knows how to handle a customer). Did they call? Nope! As someone who has worked in the restaurant business in the past, I know that sometimes there can be an off night - lots of places are hit or miss. But just the carelessness of the waiter really turned us off; the least he could do is pretend to care about the people dining in his section, maybe pay a little more attention to what's going on. Additionally, the management needs to learn how to deal with constructive criticism a little better if they want returning customers.

Strega was overall a great experience, I really enjoyed myself. Atmosphere, food, drinks, everything. The only complaint and it's not big one was the service. The host were helpful and the bartender was so nice and welcoming. The server was somewhat dry and not as helpful as we'd experienced with everyone else. But besides that, the food was what we were looking forward to and it was delicious!

OMG! FANTASTIC!!!. Atmoshere, Service {Jay} and all the food was GREAT. It was the best meal we have ever had, Our 39th anniversary and the crew congratulated us and even wrote on our desert plates. Is it expensive, YES but well worth it once in a while. Thanks Straga Prime!!

Another creation from Nick Varano and in his persuit of quality food, elegant dining, and superior service he has created another master piece! We went for a Saturday dinner (reservations strongly recommended) Wait staff is attentive, knowledgable and friendly (not stuffy) and made us feel welcomed. Obviously a large selection of steaks (cooked to perfection) but also creative dishes with fish, chops, lamb, and italian specialties. I recommend the steak tartare for an app (big enough to share), the Chilean sea bass (if you aren't in the mood for steak) and if you have room, the zeppoles for dessert! They have an extensive wine list and many specialty cocktails. We will definitely be back for more!

I hosted a work event here recently and the service was decent but we felt for the prices that the food was not as good as we expected and in fact was not as good as the former Beacon Grille at this location. We had a party of about 40 and the room we were assigned was directly beside the main dining room which was extremely loud and there was also another event going on in the adjoining room that was so loud we had a hard time hearing our speaker with a microphone and sound system. We would never host another business event here again. There was no sound reducing panels or walls at all. If you are looking to have a dinner party where you want it loud and crazy, this is your place. The decor was updated and was a bit over the top but the venue does have a decent bar area and appetizers. Again for the prices, which are comparable to downtown Boston, you just expect a bit more elegance and refinement all around and the food should be amazing. Everything we ordered was just okay.

Went here for my birthday a few weeks ago with my boyfriend...absolitely delicious. We both ordered the filet mignon with their blue cheese crust/demi glaze..WOW. It's not featured on the menu, so ask your server for it. We also had a side of the mac 'n cheese--equally delicious! Top 3 best steakhouse experiences I've had!

I love this place! Being in the customer service industry and having worked in restaurants in the past, I have become somewhat critical of the level of service I receive. Strega Prime goes above and beyond every time I visit. Every individual there is pleasant and easy to interact with and the level of service is simply the best. My wife and I have visited before, but not for brunch. So we decided to go yesterday for our one year anniversary. The food and service was of course up to the same level of excellence we are use to at Strega. However they brought us out a dessert at the end of the meal on them to celebrate the occasion. Again, just a great experience every time.

My husband and I went to strega's to celebrate our nuptials. He had been raving about a steak he had in Boston. Since I love Italian so much it only made sense. The decor, atmosphere and the staff are fabulous and that's the only positive thing I can say about this restaurant. The portions are small and overpriced. We got the dumplings for an appetizer, they gave us 5 dumplings smaller then my thumb for over $16. My husband got the Cornish hen and I got pasta. The Cornish hen was dry, not well prepared and had no flavor. I literally picked up my whole entree with my fork. It was as if the boiled the pasta with out stirring it at all it was just a huge blob with sauce on top. Disturbing! A can of chef boyardee would've been much better and not cost $30. So I ended up at the chili's down the street because I was starving, hadn't eaten pretty much all day in anticipation of strega's. That just goes to show how bad the food was. Everyone knows how much better food tastes when you're hungry and I couldn't even do it. The vibe is right but the food is wrong.

While in town on business I had a craving for a steak. Strega Prime didn't disappoint! I'm a little puzzled why this restaurant is not YELP-rated higher. The cheesy PIX on every wall is part of that New England charm, right? My New York cut was mouth-watering delicious! Cooked as requested. The side dishes were tasty and generous! The pop-over bread is a little different. I hope to find it somewhere again. The waiter was matter of fact, and had a hard-to-place accent. We asked. He was from Positano, on the Amalfi Coast, Italy. Why he was there in Woburn? That was not clear... Looking forward to going back to this classic New England eatery!

Strega Prime, along with every other Strega location, is for the people who enjoy the scene more than the food. Everything is descent but not worth the price. My ribeye could have been seasoned a bit more.

My husband and I were hoping for a rare great date night out and were pretty disappointed after our valentine's date dinner at Strega Prime. We braved the blizzard to go out, and understandably they were pretty booked up. We were actually seated early which was nice, but our table was literally the smallest side-type table I have ever seen. They had trouble fitting the two ludicrously over-sized entree plates plus our two drinks and side dishes on it. In fact it was so small and not dining table like that when I got up to go the bathroom, the whole thing tipped sending my husbands wine glass onto the woman's coat next to us. The staff said it happened all the time. They thankfully offered to pay for the woman't dry cleaning bill, but charged us to replace my husband's glass of wine. Also, since I am pregnant, I just ordered a water with dinner, but the waitress said that she knew of a great non-alcoholic drink and would 'take care of me.' She brought me a grapefruit sparkly drink which was sweet but ok, then charged me $11 for it. So overall it was definitely not worth the $190 for a dinner out.

went to Strega Prime last night. Tacky decor,,aweful 80's chandeliers with 70's curtains...really dark and tasteless decor inside. The food was not worth the prices honestly. The restaurant is in an office building! In an office park... really? Valet parking really?..the restaurant is located in a parking lot. We got wine served in dirty glass, the medium rare "porterhouse for two" came raw. The manager replaced it with his recommendation then charged us for the more expensive substitute. We eat at Ruth's Chris, Moo and Del Fresco's so we know what expectations to have for the price.. this place is obnoxious, overpriced and the seating is so bad you are can't avoid staring at everyone all night long. And their restrooms are NOT part of the restaurant..you go down a hallway that is part of the office building and use those...there was no TP! really? I'd give this place less than one star if i could. If you do got, ladies, make sure you wear black spandex mini dress with 5 inch heals and a push-up bra or you will stand out. Luckily i was with my favorite guy that night which made up for Strega! STAY AWAY!

Went this evening with our monthly fab 7 group. We originally thought of going to the waterfront locale, but we're near the new Lynnfield mall called Market Street. Very nice setup. Not all stores open yet. Anyway, we wound up at Strega Prime with reservations and found the service excellent. I wish I could say the same for the food. In my opinion just standard fare and cooking. For 43.00 for a prime steak, it should have been outstanding. It was well prepared but nothing special to warrant the price. We had the Parmesan frites and onion rings and asparagus to round out the meal. Everything is ala carte. And I mean everything. They even charge $2.00 extra for steak sauce! I mean really. To me, nickel diming at an expensive restaurant is a total turnoff. The waterfront location is much better although the prices are similarly high. But food tastier. All in all, the meal was 6/10. The service, 8/10.

As other reviewers, I am so surprised with the negative reviews! My husband and I went to Strega Prime last night and had a wonderful time! Service and food earned 5/5 stars... The only thing holding it back is the price for the location... Just too much for Woburn in an office park. Luckily we had a gift certificate and were able to enjoy without worrying about the cost for the location. We shared the fonduta appetizer... Very good but VERY greasy. I probably wouldn't order it again although it did taste good. The complimentary popovers were wonderful and large! I would have been satisfied with just those. I got the scallops and my husband got the porterhouse... Both were perfect! The scallops came with a buttery, creamy, celery root mash that was just delicious! Yum! We also shared the truffle fries-yum, and Brussel sprouts- just average. Lynn was our server, and she was great! But the most pleasant person we encountered was the very polite, kind, and funny gentleman who assisted Lynn (took our coats, brought popovers, filled water, etc.). I'm not sure his name, but he was an older man and so very polite and genuine. He put a smile on both of our faces! All in all a city meal much closer to home.

Was very disappointed.. Place looks great, plenty of nice cars in the parking lot and beautiful people inside, but the food not so much. Sat on the patio, took our sever about 5 min to get to us, struggled for a drink and food order( simply out of his element). Truffle Calamari too oily and not much flavor, Truffle Fries - McDonald's fries with grated parm, didn't taste the truffle- mushroom risotto, bland and presentation was in a iron skillet, ick! My brother got the linguine with mussels (half portion- waiter didn't know the difference between a half and full) and I got the salad with pine nuts and goat cheese and added grilled shrimp- ate the shrimp left the salad- too much dressing! All in all I would not recommend! Sorry.....

WOW! Not impressed. Monday night 7:45 reservation. We walked in and where told it would be about 5-10 minutes late. at 8:20 we finally got a table and not even a "hey sorry for the delay". The staff was uneducated. The only decent part of our experience was the food and that does not do it. For over $100 person I expect great service as well. FAIL. Skip it and head to Wayside commons there is a Capital Grille.

Enjoyed the atmosphere, we had the brutata which was amazing. I got the rib eye which was cooked to my liking, could have been seasoned alittle more. My husband got the stuffed veal chops that were really delicious. We had the creme brulee for dessert with pistachio biscotti, also had the truffle fries! I really liked them. We will go there again!

Great place. Service was excellent. Furniture very comfortable we were sat at a cozy spot next to a fireplace. Food was excellent. I've read some of the bad reviews for Strega Prime and I think they are harsh. Its a brand new restaurant, its a big place and much too early to start bashing. From what I've read ive collected that Strega prime may be lacking some consistency, if it is then its a place that was set up to evolve.

Dined at Strega yesterday for lunch. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the staff are all top notch. The wine list rivals Grill 23. When we arrived we sat at the bar, which had a plethora of Dean Martin, Audrey Hepburn, and Frank Sinatra movies playing in the background. The popovers are wonderful. My Dad and I each had the meatball to start (approx 5 oz, delicious). My Dad has the stuffed veal, A+, and I had the blue hills sirloin (A-). We washed our meals down with a nicely priced 07 antinori brunello. We sat with Brian, and will definitely go back to see him. Highly reccomended.

My husband & I went here to celebrate my birthday last night. We were a bit early for our reservation but it wasn't a problem and we were seated right away. I thought this was great considering it was quite packed for a Tuesday night. Upon being seated we declined the wine list and I asked for a cocktail menu. The hostess said she would get it for me and then I overheard her tell one of the waiters that our table needed the drink menu. While I waited, they filled our glasses with water and the waiter came over. He didn't bring the drink menu and didn't even take a drink order, he only said hello and that he would be back. 15 minutes later, I flagged down a bus boy and asked him if he could get it. He ran all over the restaurant to get me one but unfortunately the waiter appeared while he was hunting and asked for our drink order. At that point I told him that I had been waiting 20 minutes and asked for the menu twice. He presented one right away and apologized. The bus boy came back a few minutes later with one. It was too late at that point but I appreciated his running around. He seemed to be the only one doing so. The waiter could tell I had already run out of patience so he was a bit more attentive at that point. We got our drinks (Sangria that is delicious and the Strega Nightlife which was good as well) within a reasonable time frame after we placed the order but when all was said and done, it had been 25 minutes before we had a drink. The rest of the meal went well. Food was delicious (dumplings, stuffed veal chop and the butter poached lobster). I know people on here complain about the price but I didn't think it was too bad given the type of place it is - a legit steakhouse. I guess I just kind of expected it and knew what I would be walking into...it's not the Outback. I thought the quality of the food was great and it was delicious as I said. The waiter was kind enough to make up for his error in the beginning of the night by bringing me a piece of cheesecake on the house for my birthday - it was very good and I appreciated the kind gesture. My only complaint is the SLOW service. I like to take my time in restaurants and hate to be rushed but there is NO sense of urgency at this place. My husband and I were there for 2 1/2 - 3 hours! It's nice on ocassion but I don't think I'd rush back there....

We tried Strega Prime for the first time and really enjoyed the food. They overcooked my tenderloin just a bit (it was supposed to be medium but it was closer to medium well), but it was excellent, as was the salad and sides. I didn't care for the appetizer choices so I didn't order one. I found the extremely short mini skirts the hostesses were wearing a bit distasteful for a restaurant of this caliber. The waiters tried just a little too hard to sell the place too, it's tiring listening to people telling you how great the place is all night long. Overall the food was quite good, although I like their North End and Waterfront restaurants better.

After reading the past reviews on yelp, I was apprehensive about dining there. But, my wife and I dined there recently and our experience was somewhat different than the past reviews. We sat at the bar and we found that beside the regular menu, there was a multiple choice price fixe menu. We went with that and found the food to be excellent. Other than a somewhat chewy sirloin, every else was excellent if not outstanding. Actually, our review should be 4 and one half stars, not four. Also, I must give an "at a boy" to Kevin at the bar. He's a professional for sure.

I am a frequent patron to the original restaurant. I have always enjoyed the food and Carlo is always a great waiter and host. He always jokes with my wife and children and we all love going there. I love all of the pasta dishes and have likely eaten the entire menu. I gø every other week or as much as I can. I was really excited to see Strega Prime open as I own a business in Woburn. I frequently take clients for high-end meals at a steak house in Burlington that I really enjoy. I went two times to Strega Prime and I could not be more disappointed (first time several months ago when it first opened). After the first experience I recognized it just opened and it may have some bugs. The experience started with myself and my guest waiting 15 minutes for a server to come by. Servers were talking amongst themselves and despite my best effort I could not flag them to come over. I sat next to the fire wall on the right side of the bar and the left side of my face was still hot two and a half hours after my meal. I asked the waitress if that could be turned down (the fire) when she finally came over and she said no (it seemed to me that it was the first day she ever waited a table) I love the meatballs at The original Strega. I had the 14 dollar Wagu meatball. It was very small and did not taste nearly as good as the meatballs I normally get in the north end Strega. I told the waitress it was not great and really small and she did not care or respond. I then had the steak frites and the fries were soggy and had a weird lemon flavor. I asked the waitress if it had lemon and she told me no (I then picked out strands of lemon peel). The steak was very mediocre. It was your average prime super market steak with salt and pepper. It was nothing I would want again nor spend that much money for. It was nothing like the porcini rub or Kona rub steak at another restaurant in Burlington. I returned for a second experience a couple of weeks ago because I own a business and rent from the same landlord as Strega Prime and the management took me to lunch. The service did improve some but I noticed arrogant and obnoxious people at the front desk. One of them overheard me telling the other people at the table about my first experience and the guy at the front desk overheard and said be careful I will have the chef come out and talk to you. I told him that would be great and I would be happy to tell him about his food (he never came out of course). I started my meal with a slimy corn chowder soup followed by an overcooked chicken sandwich. The portion of the sandwich was large but it was overall awful. The one highlight was they started off with pop overs that were cooked very nice and tasty (they were the only thing free). There were four other people there and nobody liked the food. That was definitely the last time I would go. Overall the service was awful the first time and mediocre the second time. Both times the food was horrible or at best mediocre and not worth the price. I especially found the pretentious Matradee at the front desk seated next to the wine lockers with John Travoltas name on them appalling (like John Travolta would even go to Woburn). I would not return to Strega Prime again. If I thought the key elements were there I would come back but I really do not feel anything was desirable. I am not the kind of person to disparage any establishment but this place should close the doors or find a new chef. Its a nice atmosphere and the original restaurant indicates the management can do better.

This place is incredible! Abe & Louis & Grill 23 are among my top steakhouses and Strega Prime just went to the top of the list! Wait staff was very accommodating. The round, mafia style, round booths were very comfortable. Started off with delicious popovers with an incredible olive oil butter. Had east coast & west coast oysters that were delicious and shucked perfectly. Wells Fleets & KUMAMOTOs. We split a Caesar salad which had white anchovies. Delicious! My wife had the sea bass which was to die for. My dry aged rib eye was top notch steakhouse quality steak with this delicious truffle butter you could put on the top of it. Espresso and carrot cake at the end of the night topped off a fantastic experience. My only complaint, preventing me from giving 5 stars, was regarding some costs: the server stated that the east coast & west coast oysters could be split but they charged us for full orders of each. We got sparking water and they charged us for 2 bottles even though we only drank one -they didn't have to bring two bottles out to the table. I didn't complain because I wanted my date night to end well and wanted to get home to put my son to bed. I highly recommend Strega Prime but just read the bill thoroughly at the end. Food is incredible and I will visit again.

Yes it's over priced. But you expect that the steak would be cooked to your asking the first time. Medium is a little red. Not raw red. Dinka of vodka Collins was made as vodka with lime juice. " we don't have Collins mix so we made it with lime Juice "....really?? For the money. Abe and Louie or capital grill. Not going back!

I visited Strega with a reservation on a Friday evening I had been a server for more than 10 years so I do pay close attention to detail! I was waiting for a friend when I walked in and everyone in the host area smiled politely and took my name. I did not wait long for my friend and we were seated in the dining room immediately! I LOVED the ambiance and as I was dining on the earlier side the dining room was not full and had some nice jazz music playing! We were approached immediately as they removed the extra place settings Brought the popovers and as we only ordered soda water we received everything very quickly. Without going into all the minute details I can only say my overall experience with Strega was A+++. The ambiance The food and the wait staff were perfect and not to mention we sat there for 3 hours I did read or gaze a few reviews and it was mentioned that it was a bit overpriced. To Be honest I rather have a wonderful dining EXPERIECE than to be treated like just another unimportant guest. They did it all so Awesome!!! We had the best server.... Lynne ... and I would ask for her as she did not rush us... was polite ,friendly professional and courteous!!! I want my server to be HAPPY to serve me unlike another establishment I recently dined. Hint: in Lynnfield at the marketplace and just a so so place with Horrible Service. No it is not Davio's ... Haha I can't thank Strega enough for being a class act in all ways possible! Try it ... You will love it and be sure to Ask for Lynne as your server as you will not regret it I have given Strega 5 stars ... Only a second time for a restaurant!!!

went here last weekend for the first and last time . I was expecting a capital grille type of steakhouse and found nothing like it. I could not read my menu due to it being so dark nor could anyone else. Cell phones were used to see the menu every where you looked. The waiters acted as if they had no idea what was going on and the cold and noise from the bar area took away from dinner. Did I mention I waited over a hour for my steak??? or that the cars that were parked outside the glass windows beamed you in the face?? But I do have to say the steak was very good after going through the tornado...

The service was excellent. Lynn took great care of us and was so professional! The food was awesome. A bit pricy, but worth it. Will be coming back.

This was our second visit to celebrate our anniversary and the service was excellent. Jonathan went out of his way as well as his assistants to make our evening special. The calamari and dumplings were perfectly prepared. The popovers are a nice touch and the desserts were awesome. Worth another visit.

My wife and I had a truly memorable night at Strega in Woburn on November 8, 2013. We were greeted by valet parking - which is complimentary. A nice touch. We arrived early and relaxed with some drinks and friendly atmosphere at the bar. Some big screen showing sports - but the TVs don't distract. The bar tending service was efficient and the drinks were strong - the way we like it. Nothing worse than watered drinks - ours were nice and stiff. On schedule we were escorted to our seats - an awesome booth location with a nice view of the dining room. We enjoyed the entertaining banter, especially helpful menu insights, with our server - Mikyla. She took great care of us all night. Her wine expertise was extremely impressive. And she perfectly choreographed each course all evening. My wife ordered the rib-eye - prepared perfectly. I ordered the fillet - delicious. We succumb the dessert temptations, of course. The tiramisu was outstanding. Over the years, I've noticed that some so-called upscale steakhouses cut a lot of corners, and have become what I call 'faux high-end'. Strega is the real deal - and is classy throughout. Our entire evening was over-the-top. And, of course, we look forward to our next Strega evening.

Great, I go there occasionally after law school when I really need to decompress just need a good meal. The service is outstanding. Okay the prices are high, but the food quality is out of this world. A place you want to get dressed up to go out and have a night out with your significant other but for me it is an escape from the ordinary. Never had a bad meal, never had anything but stellar service. I love the popovers, the rosemary flavor makes it. Any steak melts in your mouth and highly recommend any of the sauces. A little peace of heaven on those dreary new england nights. My only comments is I wish they had a few more dinner specials.

I think the waitresses should have their hair pulled back....it's disgusting having all that hair flowing around the food. II sat in the bar area but I couldn't eat there, I only had a drink. While they were in the area near the kitchen I could see one girl running her fingers through her hair and another girl was fluffing hers up. It was gross. I was a regular at the Beacon Grill but I won't be back to Strega.

Went into the restaurant with high expectations. The restaurant looks great and is very nice inside. However, the food and the service did not live up to the hype whatsoever. The wait staff fumbled up our orders on multiple occasions and also had to provide us silverware that they had initially forgot to provide (somehow since we were the essentially the only ones in there at the time). The 'clam and corn chowder' was atrocious. It not only did not taste anything like clam chowder whatsoever, it also had probably ONE clam STRIP diced in there. Strega in Woburn is a 'prime' example (pun intended) of 'if it ain't broken, don't fix it'. Never should have expanded from their original location and this does nothing but water down the brand. Again it wasn't bad overall, just not worth the hype. Go to other options in Burlington.

Dined Saturday night with 3 friends. Friendly greeting at the door, table was ready- onto dinner. Fantastic wine list, lots of great items on menu for sharing. Ordered, and then the most heavenly popovers were brought to the table. omg. SO good. Apps arrived- ordered the Burrata and the Calamari. I want to take a bath in that burrata- SO good! served with roasted tomatoes, proscuitto and aged balasamic. yummmm Calamari was good - nice and light batter- very fresh! Dinner arrived shortly afterwards - great timing from the kitchen! Plenty of time to digest, and order some red wine for the steaks! Oh the steaks... they don't call it PRIME for nothing! We ordered the Prime sirloin - 14z - cooked to perfection and served with a compound butter. Tender, beefy - excellent. Also ordered at our table - Bone in Filet and Cavatelli. Everyone shared the cavatelli - rich, truffley goodness. To pretend like we were being healthy, we also ordered the Brocolini. Which was garlicky party in my mouth- al dente - just right. Hard to believe there was room for dessert - but somehow we made some! Creme brulee and the Italian S'More. Both creamy and delicious. Nick Varano made the rounds and said hello to all - very nice to meet him! Job well done all around - front and the back of the house. Bravo! Can't wait to go again!

Let's rewind back a few weeks. The brother in law was looking for a place to celebrate two fabulous years of wedded bliss with the wifey. Who does he turn to for the answer? His all-knowing, food-loving, Yelp-obsessed sister in-law (me.) I debate, check my Yelp bookmarks, scour my endless mental notes and I finally have my 'ah ha' moment. I frantically text him and recommend Strega. I had been anxiously waiting for it to open, since attending a wedding shower at The Beacon Grill back in June. The interior of the restaurant was gorgeous then, I can only imagine how fab it looks now. Sadly, the two of them had a not so memorable experience. Here's the rundown, Barrata salad-amazing, Caprese salad-no way worth the almost $15. The entrees is were Strega really, really dropped the ball. The ribeye was horribly over cooked-$50 cut of meat. Why not complain you ask? Because they were too busy complaining about the 'fontina and prosciutto stuffed' veal chop that had NO prosciutto or fontina in it. Mmmm what the heck? You can't promise fontina and prosciutto to a pregnant girl on her anniversary and not deliver. They ended up comping the veal chop but the manager did come to the table and ask 'are you suuuuure you ordered the stuffffffed veal cop?' To which she should have replied 'yes, it's the only veal chop on the menu' but she's too nice for that. On a positive note, I guess the Nutella bread pudding was life changing. The two of them dined here during opening week, I believe. I'll give it time to let them work out the kinks so I can get my paws on the bread pudding.

This place just opened this week. I've been to the one on the waterfront, which is pricey but it's Boston so I expected it. The food was good but the portions were surprisingly (disappointingly) small for an Italian restaurant. I grew up and work in Boston and have eaten at countless restaurants in the North End and am used to being spoiled with flavor AND portions. Now I live in Malden so I was happy to see a Strega opening in Woburn; until I saw the prices. I don't know if they realize that Woburn is surely not Boston and people won't pay these outrageous prices ($44 for a steak? Are you serious?). Guess my husband and I will have to find another place for our anniversary dinner!

I really wanted to give this 2 and a half stars, but did not have that option. Four of us went out for my older son's birthday....A family tradition, to pick a nice restaurant, and all enjoy it together... Anyway, the service was great, (5 stars for that!) Casey was very pleasant and very efficient, but sadly she was not the chef... For apps, we ordered the calamari, which smelled yummy, but was a small, (and pricey) portion, lacking in flavor...just ok. Dinner, was 3 filet mignons, all overly charred on the outside, and overcooked on the inside. (sad, because they were beautiful cuts of beef)...they were all OVER salted, in fact, my younger son's steak was sickenly salty, and basically inedible. (manager removed it from the bill...management was also an attribute). I ordered the chilean sea bass, (suggestion by Casey) and it was amazing...perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious...My 3 carnivorous companions, all liked mine the best! For our sides, we ordered 2 half orders, 1 mushroom risotto, and 1 pappardelle. Risotto was good, and earthy, but a little too al dente for my liking, and the pasta was very good. Desserts were good, key lime pie was great.... With our entrees ranging mid $40s and up, apps, sides, wine, beer and a rather expensive tally, we had higher hopes. On a side note, the popovers were a highlight!

Tried it for the first time for Boston Dine Out (Restaurant Week) and we like to treat ourselves to our favorite steak, the Kona Crusted Sirloin at Capital Grill but the $10 surcharge brings it up to $49 which is no bargain. Much to our delight, the sirloin at Strega Prime was offered for no surcharge so the 4 of us ordered it. We all agree, Strega's steak was equal and maybe even more flavorful and delicious than the one we just had at Capital Grill. I don't think I have ever had a better steak! It was served with trufffle twice baked potatoe and perfectly cooked asparagus. I've read some negative reviews referring to the "funny" taste the potatoe had but these diner's palates are not up to speed and proves you have to read some of these reviews with suspicion. Their creme brulee was perfection and the rich chocolate cake was memorable. The decor and atmosphere was luxurious and a cool "Mad Men" vibe. We have a new favorite restaurant!

Went to Strega's shortly after they opened. I ordered their Premium Sirloin Steak for the $49.00. I ordered it cooked medium / rare. When I cut into it it looked overcooked, but the steak was disproportioned in size, thicker and tapering down. The part I had cut into was on the thinner end. I did not raise an issue at this time. The waiter came by and said is everything cooked satisfactorily, and I showed the waiter that it was overcooked by cutting the steak in several places. He agreed and said he would take it back. A short time later the waiter returned and said that the cook said it is "the lighting in the restaurant it is very dark and it just looks overcooked". I was born at night, but not last night. They as much called me a liar. I did not want to cause a scene, so we just left. I would not recommend this place to anyone, too pricey and especially the way I was treated there are too many restaurants out there to have to be treated like this. One star for the popover

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
