My first visit here was great, learned all about the chefs, not cooks, and enjoyed the food and experience. Today I ordered roasted scrod, it had an unbaked crust and was sided with fresh veg and ...ready...wait for it...INSTANT MASHED POTATO!!! Yes you read that right. When I told the server of my displeasure she said she would tell "them" and then avoided our table. There was never a conversation about making a substitution or any other resolution. When she brought the bill and I asked her if she had told the cook she said yes and he just shrugged. Once burned twice foolish, and I am not.

Came here on a whim because we were feeling lazy and not in mood to cook. We had driven past Anchor House a lot, but never had a reason to go. Parking lot seemed full upon arrival, but upon entry realized that was for the bar and only 2 tables were full inside for the 30+ cover place. First not so great sign. Waitresses promptly greeted us and sat us near the window overlooking the lake. A nice enough view, but they should probably take down a few trees to get a decent look at Nine Mile Pond. Meal was very uninspiring. Wife and I split the Lobster bisque ($5.99) and it was pretty good. Then my wife ordered the Chicken Franchaise ($14.99) which was very run of the mill. I ordered Seafood Newburg ($21.99) and they essentially ported the same Lobster bisque into a dish and placed a few scallops,1 shrimp, and a few pieces of lobster meat into it. I essentially had "loaded" lobster bisque for $22.00. Mashed potatoes served with it tasted like they were out of a box. My wife and I picked the meat out and took the rest of our bisque home to serve over something else the next day. Offered feedback to our waitress and she agreed with me wholeheartedly that it was exactly the same sauce as the bisque was. I understand specials can be specials for a reason, and this just confirmed my assumption. Waitstaff was pleasant, but can't say we'd ever have a reason to come back.

The nice view, quiet atmosphere, convenience and good service makes up for the mediocre food. And my son LOVES their chicken fingers :) I've had several things here and it seems that the specials are better than the regular menu, nothing to write home about, but fine.

Let me start by saying I cannot stand people who give a n overall terrible review for some trivial issue. YOU ARE AFFECTING SOMEONE' LIVELYHOOD! That being said, my wife and I eat out at least twice a week and we were pleasantly surprised in spite of the poor Yelp rating. We started with appetizers that were half price. Had the Calamari, well presented, crispy, tasted great.then moved on to crab cakes. They were tasty. Then moved on to chicken parmesan. Came with soup and salad for $12.99. Great deal. Nice size portion and was well prepared. Definately fresh. My wife had the roasted scrod. It was moist with great flavor. Had fresh garlic sauteed zuchini and lyonnaise potatoes. The service is fast and friendly. This place is a hidden gem!

I have been crazy about this place for a while. My husband and I loved going here. Great tasting food, great service. BUT, then tonight happened. We walk in, no one greets us, 5 people at the bar thats ir and 2 employees that i see behind the bar. We were ignored until we asked Michelle if we could seat ourselves. She said sure. Then we didnt see her, no menus, nothing. My husband got up to find someone and Michelle came up to our table with her mouth full of food! I get better service at Friendly's!!! Then we had a different person take our order. She was ok but took too long to remove the bread plates from our table. For spending $60-80 on dinner for 2 I expect better service. I had a $100 gift card and was hoping for cash back so i never had to go there ever again! Nope, no cash back.....Damn. I'll probably just call up and order take out if they let me. Just to get rid of this gift card. Really dissapointed!!

A lovely woman, a beautiful location on a sunny and warm spring day and memories of wonderful meals should have made for a mini-vacation at Anchor House. My wife finished work in mid-afternoon and met me where I was completing my day on contracted work. She wanted to surprise me with an early dinner at Anchor House, a lakeside restaurant. Arriving at 2:30 we were greeted by the only floor staff person (she being the bartender, waitress and hostess) and seated on the enclosed rear room viewing the picture perfect view. One other table was present.I remembered a nice beer selection from last year, but I didn't find a list in the drinks menu, but no bother as it was too early for a beer. We ordered the salad, white pizza and two coffees. My wife requested that the salad (that the waitress told us that they were freshly made every day) be served with the pizza, but the waitress immediately returned with it. We looked at each other and at the large mound of randomly cut chunks of iceberg lettuce, stacked about 3 to 4 inches tall with a bunch of carrot sticks and two grape tomatoes. We wondered why the waitress brought it against our request. It was also a salad that for the patron would required alot of effort to cut into edible portions. Then I saw it. On the bottom lettuce chunks I saw rotted specks of tender lettuce. Removing the iceberg from the plate, I found a handful of rotten and wilted mesclun greens, cleverly hidden with the huge glacier of iceberg. The waitress returned at that point with a so-called bruschetta (gratis) that was really no more than a few cubes of winter tomatoes and diced onion swimming in too much bottled Italian dressing. The bread served with it was good. I told the waitress that we were rejecting the salad and with no questions or apology offered by her, she took it away. Then came the pizza, with various vegetable toppings, cheeses and a wonderful thin, crispy and tasty crust. Then we saw it. Why in the hell do restaurants think that glops of previously frozen and now thawed and gooey spinach snot can be served on a pizza? The green slop looks and tastes like chewing tobacco after the user spit it out! It ruined the pizza that otherwise was quite nice. Our returning to this restaurant will be postponed and after great consideration. The disappointment with the lack of attention to details and quality hit us hard and as you can read, will be openly discussed with our friends.

Our visit to the Anchor House was not good, but not bad. The food was typical pizza place food, nothing special, but not bad. The atmosphere is dated, really needs an upgrade. No IPA on tap, only a few tap beers. Not worth another trip.

We enjoyed excellent service and an excellent meal. Between us we had an appetizer, entree, and dessert with a glass of wine and a Coke for $39. The food was fresh, expertly prepared and well-presented. Our server was kept busy by a big birthday party, so the manager backed her up to make sure we did not wait too long. When our server caught up she was pleasant and flawlessly professional. We had: bruschetta, chicken noodle soup, pierogies, baked stuffed shrimp, Capestrano Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Coke, and a cannoli. See photos on Foodspotting; I will attach them here if I can.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
