First off, the service was great and considering the amount of people in the shop that night I thought things would be a bit lagging but the young lady who was working our area was amazing at multi-tasking. She seemed like she never stopped moving and was attentive to our request so I tip my hat to her. Second off the guac was amazing and the warm chips that they just kept bringing would have been worth the stop alone. The meals for both myself and my girlfriend were of huge portion sizes and were cooked exactly as we asked. Yet again another nod over to our waitress. The hostess, bartenders, and waitresses were all very polite and professional and kept a light feeling in the air even though they were swamped. So the service was great, food was great, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Thanks again guys for making it an easy choice as to where we were to eat out when we are in Taunton.

While visiting the area for business - an associate (who is a recent transplant from Cali) said we needed to go to El Mariachi... Didn't really think that there was good Mexican food in the area, but we took the chance and went there... Shared the camarones a la diabla (awesome) appetizer with my two colleagues - it had some nice big shrimp and mushrooms in there, but the star was the sauce and wish I could've had that bottled and sent home with me... I ordered the grilled fish tacos -- which were very tasty and reminded me of the beach taco stands in baja... The house margarita was good and potent. Service was pleasant and mostly attentive (although she was getting busier and maybe a little less attentive as time passed). Overall, a surprisingly good Mexican restaurant that I didn't expect in that area!

The table side guacamole is amazing, especially since you can tailor it to your likes. I definitely recommend this is as spot for lunch if you're in the area.

Date of service: Dec 28, 2014 Meal: Lunch, Eat in All Ratings out of 10: Quality of food: 4 Food to Spend Value: 5 Quality of Service: 3 Overall Rating: 4 I am not convinced that good Mexican food exists in New England. I have tried on many occasions and have always been sadly disappointed. On this Sunday the in laws wanted to take us to a Mexican restaurant that they enjoyed, and after reading the reviews I got my hopes up and looked forward to lunch. El Mariachi is known for their table side guacamole, so we ordered that, and we also ordered Camarones a la Diabla and Taquito Bites as appetizers. The taquito bites were crispy but void of much flavor, though the guacamole that accompanied them tasted pretty good. The Camarones a la Diabla are essentially shrimp, mushrooms, and garlic cooked in a spicy red sauce. The sauce itself wasn't very spicy and really had very little flavor at all, though the shrimp itself was pretty tasty. The tableside guacamole was fun to watch being made, but it was about as bland as can be. It is sad when the premade guacamole that came with an appetizer tastes better than the fresh made guacamole, especially when tableside guacamole tends to be a highlight at any Mexican restaurant that does it. I wasn't super hungry and wanted something a bit light, so I went for the Fajita Chicken Salad. To say I was disappointed with what I got would be an understatement. I have had some really good taco salads at other Mexican restaurants, so I was expecting something hearty and flavorful. What I got makes Taco Bell's taco salads look gourmet. It was super skimpy and not hearty at all. It had mostly lettuce, with some peppers and onions and hardly any tomato. It came with a boneless chicken breast worth of chicken, which was good, but the chicken was pretty flavorless. The guacamole and sour cream it was served with weren't enough to save the flavor either. I barely finished it, so I guess I got my light lunch, but certainly not the way I expected. After having high hopes based on Yelp reviews, I left severely disappointed. Not only is this not good Mexican food, it isn't even that good of food period. It also felt fairly expensive for what you get. To add injury to insult, the service was atrocious and is some of the worst I have ever experienced, as it took what felt like eons for basic things like refills. If the restaurant was busy I would have cut them some slack, but we were one of 4 occupied tables in the whole place, so it was inexcusable. I don't ever plan on returning again, and my quest for good Mexican food in New England continues.

After moving to Taunton from Boston almost two years ago, I was really sad that we were giving up some pretty amazing restaurants. When I told people I had moved to Taunton, I was asked over and over again if I had been to El Mariachi yet. I was too busy comparing local restaurants to what I loved in Boston. Amazing Chinese? Still haven't found it. Incredible pizza? Nothing like in Boston. So I wasn't in a hurry to rush to a Mexican place... especially since I am a vegetarian. Boy did I get that wrong. El Mariachi has a special selection of vegetarian items on their menu that had me ordering take out two days in a row. Why did I wait so long? Who needs great Chinese or pizza, when you can get the Veggie Fiesta platter with spinach enchiladas and that amazing chile relleno! And I haven't even been in for the table side guac I am reading so much about yet. Looks like I may have to actually take a shower, shave, and be seen in public so I can have the amazing food accompanied by their legendary guac and margaritas soon. And just when I was getting comfortable on the couch.

Great afterwork drinks spot. Small space so parking can be a bit hard but there is a back parking lot if no parking in front. Atmosphere is small but cozy. High stool tables near bar area so you can look out and sit near windows which is cute. Margaritas are the best ive had in the area and a bunch of flavors. Went here a few times and always get the chicken chimichanga. Its delish! Chips an salsa served complimentary with a good homemade salsa in little bottle that serves a good amount for two. Your not asking for extra salsa every 2 minutes. Great afterwork spot and weekend dinner night out. Give it a try!

I have dined at El Mariachi several times and I think that two particular things that give it an edge over other Mexican restaurants - the Table-Side Guacamole and the Cucumber Margaritas. As my wife and I took our booth she slipped me a few dollars to tip the staff member that would be coming over to make the guacamole. Now, it's not that I did not have a few dollars, but I think that it was her way of reminding me that we were going to be ordering it, not that I need reminding. On this particular visit, we did not recognize any of the staff, but the quality of the table-side guacamole was excellent - with the perfect amount of heat, salt, and lime, and it had that "nutty" flavor that I like so much. I am also a fan of the chicken and steak fajitas and have tried some of the less familiar-to-me offerings such as: Arroz Con Pollo, Steak Charro, and the Red Snapper Huapango, and have enjoyed all of them, particularly the Steak Charro. Chips and Salsa are served pretty much as you are sitting and the chips are fresh, delicious, and the salsa is one of the better ones that I have had. Additionally, some of the dishes feature a baked bean side that is different and quite good. I am a fan and I will undoubtedly be back many more times.

This place has the best Mexican food around. LEO IS THE MAN!!! All the servers are great, but I don't go without requesting him specifically. I love the blue moonlight margaritas, their burritos, the tacos el pastor, the unlimited chips and salsa upon arrival. This place has it all!

This is such a gem in Taunton. The staff is always friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. Everything that I have tried on the menu is great but the sangria and table side guacamole have become a staple to every meal here. Wheelchair access is good but parking can be sketchy. On street parking is limited but there is a parking lot in the back. The lot is not monitored and I highly recommend taking any valuables with you.

This place is authentic Mexican food served old style. It's a great experience. The bartenders are great and very attentive and there is a big local patronage because of this care. Eduardo is the man when it comes to making THE BEST margarita. You won't be disappointed if you check him out. Stay thirsty my friends.

Ordered the taco meat burrito and it was beyond delicious. Smothered in cheese and gooey yummyness. The establishment was clean and our waitor was so kind and friendly! The food also arrived hot and in a timely manner. I will definantley return to try something new

The restaurant was like your average American Mexican cuisine. The waitress was friendly and the atmosphere was also pretty relaxing. I would definitely recommend the table side guacamole and the cucumber margarita. I would probably go back but I'm not in a rush.

The servers and everyone were very friendly. The food was very quick and fresh, I could tell the rice wasn't under a heat lamp. I was very amazed at how fast everything came to us. The drinks were great and leave room for the fried ice-cream.

Quality authentic mexican food, excellent and very strong margaritas, and a lively bar area. Though the bar is small, it's good time for a fun night out.

I kinda love this place. Atmosphere is always upbeat and the food is yummy. Im a big fan of the pitchers of Margaritas (which are a total novelty to me since serving cocktails by the pitcher isnt allowed in my state. Boo.) The tableside guac is delish and though Im pretty salsa-picky, theres is spot-on. I have never seen an actual Mariachi in this place but I will continue to return to see if one ever materializes. I will be the suspicious brunette in the corner gorging on fajita quesadillas and questionably intoxicated.

Solid Mexican restaurant on in the South Shore, which is hard to find. Great atmosphere and decor. You would never know you were at the Taunton Green. Bar side is pretty small, so not the best if you are looking for a bar scene, but the drinks are very good, including gigantic margaritas. Food is excellent. Have never had a bad meal. Usually go with one of the combo meals, where you can select different meats cooked in different ways (burritos, chimichanga, ect). Have had the steak and chicken fajitas as well which are very good. Highly recommend if you are looking for Mexican in Southeastern Mass.

Very disappointed with all aspects of this restaurant tonight. My boyfriend and I came in at 7:30 to eat. They told us there'd be a 15-20 minute wait, which was reasonable for a Friday summer night. 45 minutes later we went to the hostess and they seated us right away - they had totally skipped over us. 20 minutes later we get our margaritas (nothing super special). 15 minutes after that we finally can order our food. We get our food, a chimichanga and a quesadilla, 20 minutes after that. The waiter didn't even acknowledge us with a "enjoy your meal," and never gave us hot sauce that we requested. It literally took two hours from coming in to getting the check. Unacceptable for two simple meals and 4 margaritas (2 each). You can definitely say that we will be telling our friends to never come here especially on a busy night.

  • Jordan A.

I originally gave this restaurant a 3. I wasn't impressed by the food much, having to send my order back to the kitchen. I did enjoy the atmosphere and decided to give it another chance. I came to El Mariachi a second time this Friday and had a much better experience! The food was way better and so were the drinks. We sat at the bar this time instead of the dining room. The bartender was awesome (Pedro)- great personality! The staff must be different on weekends than week days. I will definitely be back- especially to the bar.

    (4)
  • Susan H.

OK they would have gotten 4 stars if it hadn't taken so long for the drinks to arrive! The food almost beat the drinks to the table! Service other than that was good and the food was excellent.

  • Keith S.

Wow! Very surprised. I'm pretty snobby about Mexican food and went it with low expectations. Service was excellent. Everything I've had there has been really good. We've been three times now, and haven't been disappointed yet.

    (4)
  • Greg B.

The place is excellent. My wife and I go often and have never had a bad meal or experience there and the table side guacamole is awsome, so fresh because they make it right at your table. Large plates and very reasonable prices. The tortilla chips and salsa are made in house and the margaritas are the best around. I am partial to the Coronarita myself. Try one, you won't regret it in fact try a couple. Lol

  • Brad R.

There are not many Mexican restaurants in this are to choose from but I am not sure it would matter. The food here is to die for and the staff is great! The prices are very affordable and it is a great atmosphere. It doesn't matter if you are out for a family dinner or just grabbing drinks with friends, this is a place you must check out!

  • Crystal C.

This is one of my favorite places to have drinks with friends. The staff is always friendly and the service is great. It gets very busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait. The food isn't bad. The homemade nachos and salsa are delicious.

This place is way over-rated on Yelp. It may be the best game in a 30 mile radius, but compared to something like Azteca in Orlando or even Zuma's in Boston it is simply OK. I wouldnt tell anybody not to go here, but the management could do a lot to improve the experience. First, our waiter (number 11 on Mothers Day, never offered his name), was about as interesting as plain taco shell. He rushed everything and from what i could tell wished that we werent in the restaunt. It would have been a more pleasant experience to order from my iPad. Second, the margaritas are inconsistent here. I've been here several times and have had a few good ones, but on average they are not well made. Order a Margarita with salt? Be lucky if you get a dusting on the rim of your glass. Not sure what liquors they are using but i would give this place poor marks for their deinks. The food? It's definitely on the better side of Mexican, but it's not exceptional. The chips and salsa are great as is the guacamole. Ant the green hot sauce you have to ask for is tremendous. We've eaten everything from fajitas to enchiladas and its all pretty good. I just wish management would find that one surly waiter and kick him out. He's probably the owner's cousin. And i wish they would consistently offer some premium margaritas and actually make them right. Sorry for the two stars, but anyone going here needs to be prepared for inconsistency.

Went here a second time and WOO do i love this place! As I suspected I just didnt like the burrito i got last time, this time I got the tacos el pastor which were PERFECT. A simple dish, but prepared the right way which I really enjoyed. The reason for the 5 stars though? The Tableside Guacomole. OMG the tableside guacamole. This was the best guac I ever had, I dunno if it was because it was so fresh, or perhaps the interactivity of the experience, I dunno. All I know is watching a guy smash avocados right in front of you is the only way to really have guacamole! Love love love this place! Can't recommend it more!

Okay, so this is the second time trying out this place since moving to Taunton 3.5 years ago. Took a long while to come back after the first unsatisfactory trip here, and after this try I will not be back. Sat at the bar. The bartender was pleasant but painfully slow. We had to ask repeatedly for things (silverware, chips, menus) and then (as expected, since none of our order was written down and we had to confirm our orders once the bartender started punching them into the computer) my order was completely wrong. (I ended up with a duplicate of my husband's order). It took so long to get the meal in the first place, that I had them bring my order out in a to-go container... Oh, and NO WAY are the "22 ounce" beers that big. Maybe (and I mean maybe) they were 16 oz at the best. Do not waste your time coming here.

Easily one of the best Mexican Restaurants that I have ever been to. The food is very good and the service is great. Don't believe posts that say that this restaurant is overrated on Yelp...it is worthy of the reviews. The queso sauce is perfect and I really enjoyed my chimichanga (Sp?)loredo...if you are in the Taunton, MA area, try it...you will NOT be disappointed!

Fun hoppin place. Bar was full restaurant was lively and staff is super nice. Vallarta margarita was great!! Highly recommend you start with that. The chips and salsa is very good they bring automatically. The shrimp al ajio was very good, it comes with mushrooms that I don't like to eat but added a good flavor (and I picked the out) The chicken tortilla soup is to me exactly as it should be! VERY good!! I am only here on business trip but I would come back if in town ever again. I definitely recommend you give it a try

I was just at your restaurant 5 minutes ago. After being seated I waited about 15 minutes to order 2 top shelf margaritas. They arrived about 10 minutes later to which our waiter said he would "be right back to take our order". After about another 15 minutes and watching our waiter walk by several times without taking our order, he finally came to our table in which I just said bring me the bill for our drinks. Ironically that took less than a minute. Pretty bummed after I came in here with high expectations & can honestly say I will not be back.

I have never met anyone who doesn't love this place! I would recommend it to friends and family. I have dined here about 10 times, with all but 2-3 visits being outstanding! The other 2-3 visits I had TERRIBLE waiters/waitresses. The food and drinks made up for their bad service though. Also, being a vegetarian, I find El Mariachi has an excellent variety of choices that do not contain meat or seafood. Overall, I highly recommend this place!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars to this place. It's amazing. Service, food and atmosphere are always great. Used to go once a week now I live further but still make an effort to go whenever possible. Def worth the drive from boston!

Delicious!!!! I really wanted to try this place and very happy I did! There is parking in the back and I had no idea the place was so big. The chips and salsa were very good! My boyfriend and I ordered two separate meals, but could of only bought one to share the portions are so huge! The first thought is fresh! Everything tastes fresh! I usually don't like guacamole, but there guacamole is addicting it's so good! Can't wait to go back!

I have been to El Mariachi about 6 times. The food was always good BUT the last 3 last times I was there my boyfriend and I were rushed out. One of the bus boys even tried to take my boyfriend's plate away before he was done eating. Let customers enjoy the time instead of rushing them out to get the next dollar. Haven't been there since.

Love this place! Been there 3 times this year. Always great service and great food. The place is usually full ( a good sign) but we have never waited for a table. One one visit there were singers who went from table to table. Pleasent without being intrusive. Very nice touch.

Burrito Loco w steak & tall beer. Service was friendly; food was good. It did come out really fast, so it was clearly wasn't grilled for me... Who cares. Next time in the area, I'll come back.

  • Ally S.

Where can I start? Hmm... I think that the salsa is way too thin. Mexican salsa is supposed to be a little more thick and have more flavor. Also, the tacos are not so great. They don't have a menu where if all you want to eat is Tacos you can make an "order" that means you get 3+ tacos of one flavor and order another "order" of another flavor of you want to try out different tacos. And the service is definitely not the greatest. Not rude or anything just not good. As a Mexican I can tell you that the food and the service are not authentic. I'm 100% mexican and this food has nothing on food I've had in Mexico or cooked by real mexican people. Ohh! And they don't have "Horchata" water! What kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't have Horchata water!!?? They need to take a trip to Mex and KNOW what real Mexican restaurants are. Way too expensive too! But hey that's just my review and again this is coming from Mexican. Born in Chihuahua and raised by Mexican parents in the US. People you need to go to this small business called Burrito Waraps in Brockton! That's way more authentic and service is amazing! And cheaper as it is a small restaurant... enjoy your not so Mexican food if you decide to go here!

Great. I was visiting for a wedding just happened to stumble upon it. It was a happening place in the middle of nowhere. I had the chicken fatjas which, was amazing. So was the alcohol! The prices are also pretty reasonable. When I was leaving my stay I decided to take some to go. This time I tried the taco salad. No bueno! I was disappointed because the fatjas were soo good. The ingredients weren't fresh. I also paid 3 extra dollars for 3 shrimps. It's a good restaurant and If i'm ever back in the area I would go back and just not order the taco salad.

I really like this place a lot. The atmosphere is pretty cool. The staff has always been too notch. The food is good and the mixed drinks are great. I highly recommend El Mariachi's!!

My husband and I really enjoy this place. The margaritas are excellent! You have to try the cucumber one. I know it sounds strange, but it is delicious! If you like guacamole, make sure you get the tableside guacamole. My mother and I went for lunch yesterday. They have lunch specials which are reasonable. My mother isn't a huge fan of Mexican, but really enjoyed her burrito. I also enjoyed my chicken fajita salad. If you are in the area, it's definitely worth a try.

There's a lot to say about this place, so bare with me. When researching Mexican restaurants on Yelp, I found this listing. When I went to check out their web site, it reported "This Account Has Been Suspended", but you need not take this as a warning sign because everything else about this restaurant was fine. I live a 35-40 minute drive from Tauton, but this may be the closest place to get relatively good Mexican food. My GPS got me to within one block of the location, but then lost it likely due to the fact that both odd and even addresses on the green are side by side. I had read a lot of reviews talking about the guacamole made at your table and was prepared to order it if the price was within reason. Both my wife and I went through the menu with a fine tooth comb and could not find it. I assumed either I got this restaurant's reviews confused with another restaurant or that they no longer did this. It wasn't until I was half way through with my meal that I saw a table on the other side of the restaurant getting the table-side guac. When we asked our waitress about it she told us that it was not on the menu, you had to ask for it. Next time I will ask, but it seems strange to have secret items at a restaurant. The chips were slightly above average. The salsa had the right amount of heat, but needed to be chunkier. We ordered house margaritas ($6) with salt on the rocks. There was almost no salt. The drink tasted quite good, had the right amount of tequila, and had enough volume to make it a good deal. Special margaritas run from $6.95 to $8.75. I think that next time I'll try the Cadillac Margarita at $7.50. Service is lightning fast, maybe too fast. We barely had time to start sipping on our drinks and munching some chips when our dinners came out. I ordered the Tapitia Chimichanga with pork. The chimmy was filled with large chunks of tender well seasoned pork, but little else. It was topped with guac, sour cream, and a bit of tomatoes and lettuce. On one hand, I was very pleased getting such a large portion of good tasting pork, on the other hand, I missed having cheese and some filler items mixed in. The guac was especially good and was a good size portion to cover the chimi. Also on the plate were beans and rice which were especially good. My wife had a Fajita Burrito with chicken. She liked her burrito, but was especially impressed with the beans and rice on the side. I have eaten Mexican food in Southern California and Arizona, so I know good Mex. This is not up to the best found in those places, but is likely the best you will find anywhere close to Massachusetts South Coast. If this place was within 20 minutes of my home, I would eat here often.

I have been to this restaurant multiple times and have always found it to be very good. However on my last visit I took my 87-year-old mother for dinner and we could not of had worst service if we were invisible. Our waiter did not make eye contact, never offered us a second drink, never asked if everything was ok after we were served, never offered dessert, made me flag him down to ask for the check for the first time in my life this forced me leave only a 10% tip. It's really too bad because the food was good but this gentleman made this my final visit to this restaurant as I cannot risk this horrendous level of service again.

This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants. I have lived in the area for 2 years now, have gone to El Mar more times than I can count and I have never had a bad meal. The food is fresh and full of flavor. My fiancé and I always get the table-side guacamole. You choose mild, medium, or spicy and the waitress does the rest. I could literally eat it by the spoonful. For meals, my go-to is the Arre burrito, though I have tried my fair share of chicken, pork, and seafood dishes. I also really like the fajita quesadilla, mole chicken, and the spicy shrimp and rice. The margarita's are also fresh and perfectly delicious. I typically don't drink margaritas because I don't like sour mix. El Mariachi doesn't use sour mix, they make them with fresh lime and other juices. The El Mariachi Margarita is my personal favorite - a traditional margarita with a hint of orange juice. The service is excellent. Whether its the owner greeting people in the restaurant, the manager, your waiter/waitress, or the bartender, they are super friendly and accommodating. It's just a plus to go to a restaurant with great food where you can talk with great people.

Wow, what a great place. I went there for lunch with a friend and it was delicious. Service was excellent with drinks and chips/salsa was there quickly. We started with the fresh made guacamole - very good, could use more tomatoes, but it was great quality and there was plenty to last the whole meal. I had a combination plate so i could try as much as I could - pork chimichanga, beef enchilada and chile relleno. Each was done well and the sauce was not too much. Lastly, we ended with sopapillas that came with chocolate and strawberry sauce. Overall, great food, great atmosphere and service. will definitely go again.

I went here last night for dinner with my boyfriend and toddler daughter. The place looks small from the outside but the restaurant itself is huge! For a friday night it was busy but there were so many tables you couldn't tell until u stood up from your table. The waitstaff was super friendly and all waved to her. The menu was huge and prices were good for the large amount of food you receive. I got the Chicken Flautas which were amazing. My bf got the vegetarian Spinach Enchiladas and we devoured our plates. For dessert we all shared the Churros and one word for them is delicisoso!! They came with a chocolate and caramel sauces for dipping too!! Our waitress Lupita was very attentive and warmhearted to us and refilled our drinks a lot! We cannot wait to come back here!!!

II moved back to Massachusetts almost three years ago and until today had not found any authentic Mexican food. El mariachi is the answer to all my prayers. Great food, great drinks and authentic flavors all capped off with excellent service. I live 45 minutes away, but will be back on a regular basis.

The place is an old antique store, which they've incorporated really well with their Mexican decor. So the ambiance is really nice. The food is good, for that churn it out kind of Mexican food. It's definitely the only Mexican place that I would go to in the area. The prices are good, the drinks are stiff, and the chips and salsa are pretty good as well.

Best lunch ever!! I can have taco for days the steak ones are plus . dessert's on my god I'm in heaven can't beat the patron margaritas as well. The place was very clean and I loved it the atmosphere was very family oriented.

Perfect Mexican food! The ambiance is amazing. This was my first time here. A hidden gem. I had the steak fajita burrito. It was delicious, it came with rice and refried beans. The portions are generous and the flavors are delicious. The chips and salsa is complimentary and the salsa was definitely fresh. Also, I noticed someone ordered guacamole and they make it right for you at your table! I highly recommend this place, a MUST try!

Average food, but drinks are really good. There's not many great restaurants in taunton... So this place is one of my go to bar/restaurants.. I've had better Mexican food elsewhere tho.

Free chips and salsa to start! Delicious chimichangas with rice and refried beans! And the churros for dessert were heavenly. They were very busy the day after the blizzard and they still wer super fast with everything, took less then 10 minutes to get food. Great friendly staff! A+++

I went here last night for dinner--I'm already looking forward to going again! I started with a strawberry margarita on the rocks, which was awesome. Very fresh, definitely not too sugary like some margaritas are. Then I had the table side guacamole. You guys, this was the freshest guacamole EVER. It was awesome. I ordered a chicken quesadilla for dinner, and it was delicious. Everything is reasonably priced: margaritas $7-$8, huge guacamole for $8, quesadilla was $8-$9. Our server was very knowledgeable, friendly, and speedy! I will be back!

I really loved this place. They had the best deal in town for lunch and great service. The last few times I've been there it's been a far less pleasant experience. If you're going for drinks and appetizers it's a great place, but as far as a dinner goes it's hit and miss. The last few times I had to send my food back and still wasn't right when I finally got it but since my date was long since done his meal I ate it and we left. I think lately they have just grown to much. They should if they haven't already look at expanding or adding some more staff. I would still suggest going here, but try to go during a slower night during the week so you can really enjoy it.

...I love Mariachi. Whenever I find myself craving Mexican, this is my restaurant of choice. Pretty much right when you're seated, you're brought warm tortilla chips with salsa. The salsa is either spicy or mild, I guess it depends on the day and the mood of whoever makes it... but it's always great. I love it. You can also order queso dip, which is also great. I've ordered something different every time I go here, and it's all been fantastic. You order your food, and it is brought to your table at lightening speed. This has always been a point of concern for me, but I won't complain because it's delicious. I just try not to figure out why it comes out so quickly. A really good deal that they have are the "Mariachi combos". The cheapest one is your choice of I believe a taco, burrito, enchilada, and some other things filled with either chicken, beef, steak, cheese pork served with refried beans and rice for only $7.50. It's very filling, affordable, and can cater to anyones tastes. Besides that, they have all sorts of tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas, burritos, etc. on the menu. If you're craving Mexican food, ANY kind of Mexican food at all- you'll find what you're looking for on their menu. And you'll be incredibly satisfied by whatever you order. Also, they have the greatest margaritas ever. They even have those fancy margaritas that have the coronas in them. I don't care for those, but it's still kind of cool. But I think it's the most disgusting thing ever. It tastes exactly how you would expect a margarita to taste if you put beer in it. Mariachi offers a broad selection of all kinds of Mexican dishes and margaritas that are all affordable and delicious, I think it's the greatest Mexican restaurant in the area, and I highly recommend it.

This place is delicious! Was in Taunton visiting friends last night and we met them here for dinner. Started with the complimentary tortilla chips with fresh, spicy salsa. For an appetizer we shared the pulled chicken nachos with all the standard toppings...fresh, hot, and flavorful. My entree was the grilled fish tacos. Loved the crunchy fresh cabbage and vegetable rice, and the cod was cooked to perfection. The creamy sauce that accompanied the tacos added that extra layer of flavor. Everyone enjoyed their meals and everything came out in a timely manner and piping hot. The raspberry margarita I had was perfectly sweet and not too strong. We'll be back!

El Marachis has THE BEST...BEST...Cucumber Margarita. Well....They have the best margaritas ever. I've been here many times, and this place has never let me down! They have the best staff and great authentic food! Try the pork verde burrito...and if you like to live on the wild side like moi than ask the excellent server you have for some hot sauce...the stuff from the back with real kick! AH-MAZING! :)

As Taunton residents we were so excited to see a Mexican restaurant open up downtown. El Mariachi has become our favorite local place and we have become regulars. The boss himself comes to table and says hello and thank you. The salsa is fresh and the food is fast. The service is friendly and the experience is always enjoyable. The drinks are great and the El Presidente is the ultimate Margarita. Every time I am not there I think of the carnitas. I have seen a complaint about the noise level. It can get noisy during busy times since there is a metal ceiling. My wife and I usually go there at 2:00 on a Saturday afternoon and it is the perfect time. The noise level is low and you can hear the wonderful Mariachi music.

The food, service, and atmosphere are usually great here. When I come for lunch I usually get the combo with enchiladas, rice, and beans. But, today I got their spicy chicken wings and the chicken tortilla soup. The chicken wings were tasty, and come fried with the buffalo-type sauce on the side and plenty of blue cheese. The tortilla soup, while not the best I've ever had, was also pretty good. It came with nice chunks of chicken and fresh avocado in it. It's hearty enough to be a meal by itself. This place is definitely a favorite!

Ate here with my husband and another couple. Their meals were fine. I ordered pescado veracruzana, a fish dish with tilapia in a tomato sauce with olives and capers, as described on the menu. I have had this dish before elsewhere. It came out, a dry piece of halibut, with a side of sauteed onions, mushrooms and peppers. i told the waiter this was not what i ordered. He explained that they had a new menu and this was the correct dish. i said it was not, so he took it and returned 15 minutes later with the same side of vegs and a different piece of fish with crab sauce on top. i am alletgic to shellfish. my husband tasted the sauce and we sent it back. 15 minutes later they returned with the same dish they brought out first. i was too tired by then to argue. the manager apologized and said they would take care of the bill. they did not. they comped a dessert only. everyone was very pleasant, but clueless.

I have come here several times and always enjoy the experience! To start with, the restaurant is really spacious inside and has a slightly smaller bar and a large eating area. I have come with groups as large as 12 and as small as 2 and never felt over-crowded or jammed in to a corner. Sometimes there is a little mariachi band which is a festive touch. The servers are really friendly and patient (especially appreciated for when you are in a big group!). That said, splitting the bill can be a bit of a pain so ask if they can do this BEFORE you order. Otherwise, you're too far gone. The drinks are good -- I've had various tropical margaritas and the sangria, but a drink that stands out at the top of the list is the cucumber margarita. Trust me, it's worth a try. Chips and salsa are always a nice touch, but I wonder if they change the salsa recipe because sometimes it seems much hotter/spicier than I remembered. That said, it's free and plentiful so I can't complain too much about it. The menu has lots of options. I usually go with the tapatia chimichanga, but my friends have enjoyed whatever it is they order. I am a fan of Mexican food in general and think that El Mariachi has some of the best Mexican food in the area. They are pretty quick with service too!

I found El Mariachi by searching for "fish tacos" near 02769 on Yelp :) and these were some of the better ones that I have found around here. Not only did this place deliver on curing my fish taco craving, I was also pleasantly surprised by the margarita selection and the GUACAMOLE CART!!! Even if you aren't a fish taco fanatic, you MUST visit this place at least once if you are at all a guac-o-holic. First, the ritas. Yum! Long list of choices and many if not all of the ritas are made with juice, not "rita mix" which I strongly prefer. The cucumber margarita was very refreshing and satisfying and not weighted down with syrupy sugars - it went great with my meal. I loved all the chunks of cuke! Very reasonable for $8. My husband had the jalapeno rita - he usually loves anything with a kick but he wasn't a fan of this combo. Next, the GUACAMOLE CART!!! You can order a regular serving of guac, but why do that when for $8 you can have a gigantic bowl of guac freshly prepared just for you, right at your table?! Upon ordering the guac cart experience, a very friendly girl wheeled her cart over to our table and started by peeling and mashing a fresh avocado with some salt and fresh squeezed lime in a huge pumice bowl - then she added fresh minced onion, jalapeno, diced tomato, cilantro, and some pepper - all to our preference. Such a neat experience! We put a couple of bucks in her tip jar and immediately set to work devouring the bowl, which our stomachs reluctantly didn't let us completely shovel away. For two people, this could have been dinner for us! Ritas and guac anyone?? Salsa was just so-so, but who cares when you have that much guac? Dinner - I have no recollection of what my husband ordered, I think I was too enthralled with the guac cart and the fact that I found a place that served fish tacos that weren't made with frozen, deep fried fish stick crap. The fish, cod or haddock maybe, was flaky and fresh and had been grilled and seasoned with traditional spices. It came in three mini flour tortillas with rice and refried beans which tasted fine, but I was so full at that point I just went straight for the toppings of diced onion, green cabbage and a delicious sauce (generous portions of toppings, too!) If they ever start making fresh salsa, I would be inclined to order the same dish without the starches and ask for some sliced avocado and fresh salsa instead. MMMM... Also, the service was great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, made some great recommendations for my husband, and I believe one of the owners thanked us for visiting upon our departure. El Mariachi definitely left me satisfied and I will certainly be returning with a HUGE appetite the next time I get a fish taco craving.

Way TOO loud, too bright, too much like a family style place. Out on a date for a late dinner on a friday night night, lots of kids. The food is a 3, service a 4. But unfortunately, the ambiance is lacking big time! Too bad, I really want a great Mexican place to go to nearby. Tortilla Flats in Providence is still our #1

    (2)
  • Dawn A.

This place packs 'em in. I think the reason why is they do a pretty decent job at bringing standard Mexican fare. I had the fajitas. They were good. Not great, but good. The rice was a little dry, but the fajitas themselves were nicely done. They satisfied my cravings for fajitas. My boyfriend got a burrito and was happy too. Service was very quick and to the point (read: not particularly friendly). Boy it was crowded though. Little elbow room. So, if you are looking for a romantic night on the town, this might not be it at least not on a Friday or Saturday night. Probably more a place to bring a group of people that want to drink Margaritas and eat lots of Mexican food.

$100 for 4 top shelf margaritas, 2 shots, an appetizer and two entrees. We were here for Friday night and it was busy but we were still able to get our seats before we were able to get drinks at the bar. Noisy but good atmosphere and great food. Will definitely go again.

El Mariachi has some good drinks - the menu is loaded with them. The beers are pretty expensive and it is odd that they hide the prices of the brew off the menu. Word of advice, don't leave your car anywhere toward Winthrop street (Rt44). There were 3 drug dealing thugs sitting on the hood of our car when we got out. The whole area is bad news - better to eat here before dark.

I would give a 5, but the house salsa was too hot..and I like heat, but it wasn't enjoyable. I have been wanting to go here for 2 years and finally I got to a chance to go. The atmosphere is mexican to the T, When you see the place from the street you would not believe how large it is until getting seated. I loved it! I tried their house margaritas and they were delicious and very strong. They have very reasonable prices and the food was piping hot when it came out...very happy about that because I have been to a few places in the past year and you could tell it was pre-made and had no flavor. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection with plenty of flavor. Prices were reasonable and I will definitely be going there for future Mexican indulgence.

I am a sad, sad girl. I have been looking forward to coming to this restaurant forever, and it's like that saying, be careful what you wish for! Lets start at the beginning, work our way through to the middle and finish at the end shall we? We were seated fairly quickly for a Saturday night, and the first thing we ordered were our margaritas which were HUGE. I sorely needed it, because I was working 14 hour days and I still had one to go. So I wasn't at my best, not going to lie. I'm not sure anyone reads my posts, but if you read my review of sharkys, you would know that the best place I have ever had nachos was on Martha's Vineyard. And since I can't be on the vineyard every day, I'm looking for the mainland version. I still haven't found it, but that doesn't stop me from looking. I tell the waitress that it's very important that the steak goes on the side because I am a vegetarian, she says absolutely. Fine, Except that when we get the nachos and I see them I cringe a little bit. I forgot to ask about the refried beans! I was so exhausted that my brain wasn't working! And alas, they had lard in them. To be fair though, the waitress had no idea, and would have fed them to me anyways, so I guess it was good she didn't bring them to me! Now I'm embarrassed. But they bring me a new one with black beans. Fine. All is right with the world now. I forget what my date got for his entrée, but I got the veggie fiesta platter. This (to me) was a good way to try a bunch of things on one dish. It came with: black beans, a chile relleno, a spinach enchilada and a cheese enchilada. So I literally ate my food in that order. Black beans were fine, chile relleno was fine, then I get to the spinach enchilada. Something's wrong. It's....salty. But hey, it must be the way they cooked the spinach. I move on to the cheese enchilada, and I literally almost spit it out. It's like chewing on a salt lick. It was the verde sauce. There was just no eating it. It was disgusting. Now my date and I are fighting, because I would rather not say something, but his argument is that if they make a big batch of the sauce, they need to know it's ridiculously salty. And he tried it too, so it wasn't just me that thought so. So against my better wishes, I say something. This is where they get the other star because I would have given them one, the waitress was excellent. She had me, whom I am sure she considered a problem child-I mean customer, and she had a party of very drunk people next to us. Her life was horrible for the hour that we were there. And she handled everything with style. They gave me half off my entrée, which I think was very fair because I only ate half of it. And my date said his food was pretty decent, so that's good. Oh, and the margaritas were perfect. But it's unlikely that I will be coming back.

Not sure what's going on here. El Mariachi is a nice enough place, but it's not 4 or 5 star Mexican food. Came in here on Saturday and found the Chicken Burrito Asado to taste like something I'd get at Applebee's. However, I will concede that the chips & salsa are money and that the Steak Tacos Al Pastor were pretty good. This may be some of the best Mexican food I've had on the southcoast, which sadly doesn't mean much.

  • Caitlyn S.

Pretty good food local to the new house. The salsa is a c- sometimes it's good others its terrible and taste like a tin can. my husband loves the burritos. I love all the apps. Deff glad it's right around the corner. I give it 4 stars not 5 cause of the inconstancy of the salsa...

Im not a fan of Mexican food, but I did come here with a few people, and it was excellent. The decor, and environment are very welcoming...it feels like you stepped into a restaurant in Mexico. They had a good menu selection, and dish was delicious. They also had a nice selection of mexican beer. I forget what I tried but it was good. Overall a great place. Service was also great! Two thumbs up!

I can not complain about el mariachis. I have been to the Easton location multiple times and last night I went to this Taunton location for dinner. Me and my girlfriend walk in the backdoor and have to walk all the way to the front by all of the waiters and waitresses to be seated at the front hostess stand. I don't know if it was just the timing of the day with no person at the back door or its just not how it works. Nevertheless I honestly could care less about that. We walk to the front and get seated promptly by a smiling waitress. She immediately brings over chips and salsa with a smile on her face. I think it was just the timing of the day with shifts starting and ending there was only one waiter on but he was smiling as well. He came over to us got our drink order and then gave us the perfect amount of time to place our appetizer order. For $9.95 the fiesta sampler is perfect for 2-3 people. It has a little bit of everything and is the perfect size. I then order the camarones diablo and my girlfriend orders steak fajitas. There are multiple waiters and bus people refilling our drinks and taking away our empty plates. We were in and out in about 45 mins. Didn't feel rushed and the food was great. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience at El Mariachis.

4 star food, 2 star service. Normally at a place like this who really expects great service. However, standing at the bar for 10 minutes looking awkwardly at the bartenders is just silly. Had to ask the hostess to go get me a beer while I waited for my food. Maybe the bartenders were just to busy making drinks for the entire restaurant, but at least acknowledge my presence and at least say you'll be right with me.... Even if you don't mean it! Just make me feel better. Jeez! Long story short, always great Mexican food, always bad service. In the end, who really cares

  • Karsten G.

I realize its a little unfair to make inter-regional comparisons, but if you want good Mexican food this isn't the place. Ive had better mexican from gas station restaurants in NorCal. It's a tough bar to pass. El Mariachis food is feeble and the wait staff is not very friendly, nor do they seem to care about anyone they are serving. The decor/atmosphere fits well the cliche "Mexican joint" but that doesn't make the food any better. Acapulcos in Franklin is better, but not by much. Ps. New Englanders don't know shit about spice, at least when it comes to Mexican food. I thought it was supposed to be cosmopolitan up here?

One of the better mexican places I've been to in New England. Not as good as when I lived in San Diego or worked in Mexico, but still good for the area. Service is quick and very nice. The food is good and the price is reasonable. It's loud enough that you don't mind bringing kids, but not too loud you can't have a conversation and normal levels.

I love this restaurant. It is the best Mexican around hands down. Things are authentic with a fresh modern flare. Drinks are great and resonably priced. I've never had a bad meal here and it is a good solid go to place when meeting friends.

I love El Marichi. The waitstaff is fun and attentive. The food is always good and the margaritas are the best in the area. This is definately a great place to hang out with your girlfriends or go on a date. Sunday night there is authentic live music. My favorite is the steak fajita tacos. The steak is very tender and the portions are generous. I would recommend this place to family and friends alike!

Usually not a huge Mexican food fan but love coming to El Mariachi. The ambiance is not the typical chain food decor. Been here at least a dozen times and always received great service and the food is always fresh and delicious. The salsa they bring before the meal is always my favorite so I always tend to eat too much of it before my meal even arrives. As I mentioned I know very little about Mexican food so tonight I thought I would be adventurous and order something besides taco or enchilada. Although the dish was exactly how the waiter described, I was not feeling the corn tamales (not bad tasting if you like cornmeal). When the waiter returned to check on us (which he did often---attentive and nice staff), he could tell I wasn't pleased with my decision to try something new. Although I would have eaten what I ordered because it was ok, he insisted that I order something I would enjoy. He left and came back 3 minutes later with hot and delicious enchiladas. That's 5 star service! My husband was very impressed and its super hard to impress him aince he has no patience. Good, fresh, authentic food would be enough to keep us coming back, but the superior service has guaranteed that we will always come here for Mexican. Awesome homemade salsa: bought some to take home.

Authentic! I've eaten in Mexico frequently enough to recognize "real" Mexican food. Easy parking in the back, exciting display from the front, fantastic (quick) service, really good food and a great price. My kids love it here and my husband practically has his own seat. The decor is wild, too! The homemade chips and salsa....yummm. Pop into the Cantina for a beer on game night.

This restaurant is exactly what this city needs! The food is really good and there's a lot to chose from. The alcohol is amazing. They make great margaritas! The price isn't bad. I didn't see any margarita pitchers on their list, which they should do if they don't. My only negative comment about this place is that their rice isn't that fresh. You can tell its been reheated.

Fun place, very kind and accommodating to people with food allergies. Helpful, fun staff, good selection of sports on in the bar. The food quality is amazing and fresh. The chips and salsa is the best... honestly one of the better places around. Its a bit pricey for tacos BUT I dont mind to be honest. Its worth it. Small business owners like this make a difference. Always look forward to going back.

Wow. When I walked into this place I had to ask myself, am I still in Taunton??? We came through the back door and the first thing I notice is the nice Mexican decor and the cleanliness of the place. The restaurant area is narrow filled with lots tables and booths. Then the cantina is a smaller square bar area with about 5 or 6 flat screen TVs. Everyone who works here is just so darn friendly. The restaurant was full so the hostess asked if my girlfriends and I would mind sitting in the bar area. Of course we do not mind! We sat at a high top table and we immediately served with chips and salsa. While we looked over the menu the waitress came over and since we were not ready yet we asked for waters. The waitress was so pleasant and in such a good mood. We ordered our meals and sangria's and in the meantime ate the chips like they were going out of style; And I'm assuming the salsa was homemade since it was so delicious. If I can recommend one thing from here, you ABSOLUTELY must try there Sangria's!!!! My Fajita Burrito with steak which was fabulous! My girlfriends both got the veggie enchiladas which they also enjoyed. My plate was so big that I took the left overs home to my dad which he ate in about 5 minutes. Yes, it was that good! It looks like the Taunton Green is cleaning up. I cannot wait to go back and try something else! This is truly one of Taunton's best restaurants.

El Mariachi is just what most people on the South Shore have been looking for: A Mexican place that is not Sam Diego's. El Mariachi is located on the green in downtown Taunton. More importantly, El Mariachi is a perfect example of what many people have been thinking for years: Taunton has so much potential for quality local dining and casual nightlife! You can enter from the front by the green or up the stairs in the back. Many people don't realize that there's a lot more parking behind the building, which can be very nice when the meter spots are all taken or when the nonsensical traffic patterns on the green make it impossible to swing over three lanes of traffic to grab some prime parking real estate. El Mariachi is more or less a long, somewhat narrow dining room with cantina seating on both sides of the front of the building. This is a great spot to sit and drink your sangria or margarita while looking out at the massive Christmas light display on the green...a truly tropical experience. More than the atmosphere or location, what really makes El Mariachi so great is the authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine. Let me emphasize the word "authentic". Something that really differentiates this place from the Sam Diego's chain is that this menu is much more true to the genre in both offering and recipe. While the prices are just about identical, you're going to walk away much more satisfied by El Mariachi's exhaustive and comprehensive Mexican menu. If you're like me, and you can't ever decide on your dinner by the time your drinks arrive, you may want to consider the combo dishes where you can pair up a few main items together with rice and beans for an experience that is muy bueno! (I HAD to get SOME Spanish in this review, and it doesn't have to be clever, since I took French in high school). Service is prompt and friendly. You can tell that the employees of El Mariachi enjoy working there and take pride in their establishment. Overall, El Mariachi is fun, comfortable, delicious, and exactly what the downtown Taunton area needs: more restaurateurs who can see the potential in a revitalized main street district.

Great service, food and price. This restaurant has a lot of character, and doesnt belong in the city of Taunton, but brings an actual good restaurant into the city which it's been needing for years. This is one of the best in the city. Parking lot could be upgrade, but that's my only complaint!

Our waiter was super cool, and he kept the margheritas coming! Cool ambiance and decent prices. Seemed like a hot-spot for birthday parties as the waiting staff kept coming out with tamborines and other musical contraptions to sing happy birthday. The food was very good; look forward to returning on my next business trip!

El Mariachi is a new and long-awaited addition to downtown Taunton. It has both a restaurant seating as well as a cantina and overlooks the historic Taunton Green. The cantina is small, but they have tasty little crunchy, spicy-lime snacks at the bar and it seemed the drinks were reasonably priced. The menu is fairly extensive with a selection of the traditional mexican items as well as combination plates, steaks, salads and some specialty items. The menu is set - no specials are offered...I asked. At our table we had fajitas, Camarones a la Plancha (a shrimp dish), Burrito Asado, and Fajita Chimichanga. For some reason, the beans and rice did not come rolled into my burrito, but despite that, everything was tasty. The server was attentive and gladly replenished the chips, salsa and drinks when we were ready. The atmosphere is nice, not too loud and not too kitchy. It's definitely a nice addition to the neighborhood and I'll be back to sample more of the menu. The lunch options are quite varied and also look like pretty good deals - but what's mexican food without sangria??

The kid's beef nachos were horrible. The fajitas were overcooked. Arroz con camarones was ok but tasted like it had canned pizza sauce on it instead of real Mexican red sauce. Service was extremely slow. And the prices were outrageous for the small portions we got. Too bad because it's a really cute place.

SO GOOD! I had heard many good things about El Mariachi, so I decided to try it for myself. I went with four friends, and we were seated promptly. There are many choices on the menu - even vegetarian options (which surprised me, but I love it). The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They have a full bar, which makes excellent margaritas. Our waiter was very attentive and checked in with us throughout the meal, without being annoying. Awesome restaurant, I am on my way to becoming a regular!

I should start by stating I am not a huge Mexican food fan. However, my GF was meeting a friend of hers and I decided I would give it a shot. So, I arrived a bit early and had a few adult beverages at the bar. Bartender was very efficient and courteous. I had some chips and salsa and they were delicious. They arrived and we sat at a table. Once again the service was outstanding. I started with the Mariachi wings were plentiful and SO delectable. They were slightly breaded, perfect size, in my opinion and bursting with taste. I ordered the ground Beef jimmy chenga (please excuse my lack of Spanish terminology as I am sure that is incorrect) but what was correct? How good it was! I was really amazed at how delicious it was. It was slightly covered with a spicy cheese sauce, which was not to spicy, just right. The beef was fresh and cooked nicely, really good. If I had to nit pick, the rice was slightly overcooked and a bit dry but still pretty good. My GF loved her food, as did her friend. I would critique their food more but I am not sure what they ordered, all I know is they both said it was delicious. Everything was really great and would definitely go back.

I moved here from Los Angeles CA, this is the closest to authenic food you will ever expierence. They have the best margarita's and you must ask for the green sauce, which is not on the menu. Philepe makes the best margarita's, and make sure you get the top shelf choice corzo. The salsa is wonderful, it is fresh.

El Mariachi was incredibly the Saturday night that my boyfriend and I went there. The bar and diningroom were packed, and the customers were loud and...interesting. We began our dinner with a couple of margaritas, which I thought were okay. We shared a carafe of sangria, but I will never order it again. It tasted like juice and was too concentrated! I loved the idea of a small carafe of free salsa and chips brought to the table. For my entree, I ordered the Chile Verde, which included "chunks of tender pork loin, green bell peppers and onion in a milk green tomatillo sauce accented with fresh cilantro." My entree also included rice, beans, and flour tortillas. My boyfriend ordered the Laredo Chimichanga, which was stuffed with shredded pork and a chili con queso sauce. Although he wasn't crazy about the chili-cheese sauce, we both agreed that the pork was really excellent. I was surprised by how well the pork was cooked and flavored. I can see why locals would return to El Mariachi because it has some nice surprises on the menu.

One of the best additions to the local area. Just a few take aways... note to self the portions are large. After all the chips, homemade salsa, and margarita's it is hard to find room for a big meal! ... and doesn't everyone love a good Mexican dish? If so, check out El Mariachi.

    A. here. This is a very decent Mexican place, with a very nice ambiance and good service. We typically would come here for lunch as a group. The menu is very good and you cannot go wrong with anything. Chicken Flautas is one of my favorites.

Been meaning to go to this establishment since it opened and finally got the chance now. A majority of the parking is in the rear but I recommend to enter in from the front because we did and had to walk through the whole restaurant to get to the receptionists station. Luckily, we were seated immediately despite it being so full. We immediately got a basket of chips and some salsa that was definitely made fesh, with plenty of large chunks and cilantro. We ordered drinks after the waitress came over; I got a blue moonlight and my beau got his beer. Mine was yummy. After about 7 minutes, we ordered appetizer and main meals. Decor was pretty and restaurant was clean. I liked how the employees wore different colored shirts so you can tell the difference between servers, busser, managers etc. Although I saw three MODS and none bothered to oversee things. Bussers did a great job of clearing tables. We got the wings as appetizers. Not bad. Served with ranch, hot sauce, not that hot though, lettuce, celery and chopped tomatoes. I got the camarones a la plancha. shrimp with garlic, butter served with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and seasoned rice. Very good. My beau got the steak huaesteco, sirloin with sauteed veggies and shrimp. Looked good and he said it was cooked perfectly. Service was a bit deplete but the meal was awesome. Total bill was around 67, with tip

Loved the sampler appetizer and the wings. The decor is much nicer than I expected it to be. The staff is great. I'm hoping the restaurant does well and helps to revitalize downtown Taunton.

So glad a good mexican restaurant has opened in this area. I'm not sure what they mean by authentic mexican food but it seems it to me. Not a Chili's anyway. Typical overpriced Margarittas and the food is moderate in pricing but it is well worth the visit. My vegetarian daughter has found plenty of choices. Place always seem busy but have not yet had to wait.

Had dinner on a week night, nice place, they did a great job with the interior of the resturant, service was very good as was the food, nacho and salsa to start was very good, meals seemed a bit pricey to me though, good food but definitly on the high $$ end, seemed the average plate was $12/$13... Also did not see a kids menu? I could have missed this but did not see anything less expensive for the younger ones.. Overall very good and a much closer drive than Sam Diagos in ply or Hyannis ..

Extremely friendly staff, great service, authentic Mexican menu and, guess what, the food was outstanding. We had lunch there and started with the table side, prepared guacamole. The ingredients were spot on and the server who prepared for us was so friendly. It was refreshing to converse with staff who hail from Mexico who stand by and incorporate the flavors/prep that are true to authentic Mexican cuisine versus the many "wannabes" so-called Mexican restaurants in this region. The mole sauce was the real deal. The fish tacos were fresh and prepped the way you'd expect if you ever travelled to Mexico. Simple but delicious! Please go to this restaurant. You will not be disappointed. I've spent time in the Mayan Riviera and lived in Southern California. I expect to experience crap "Mexican" food here in New England but this place rocks. They are the real deal.

I've eaten here a few times now, however, I'm somewhat underimpressed with the food. My first shot was a pork dish which I found to be somewhat fatty and bland in flavor. My next meal was the laredo chimichanga which also left me unimpressed. I guess I'm just used to deep fried chimichangas and this was not. The chili con queso sauce that topped it did little to improve it. Both dishes came with Mexican rice and refried beans. The rice was okay, nothing exceptional. The refried beans were soupy, bland and extremely unappetizing to look at. A safe bet are the fish tacos, which are quite flavorful, especially when topped with the white sauce that accompanies them, which provides a nice little kick. The quesadillas are very good and can serve as meal on their own as does the Nachos Grande. The salsa, although watery in texture, has a wonderful fresh taste and the homemade chips are the perfect compliment. The margaritas and sangria are excellent. The restaurant has a festive yet relaxed, comfortable setting and the staff is very friendly and efficient. If you want to hang out with some appetizers and margaritas, this place fits the bill. Ordering an entree seems to be hit or miss. You're on your own. Moderately recommended

Visited on 7/29/09 around 4:30pm. By the time we left the place was packed. The building is an older historical place but what a nice job renovating and decorating the inside. Very clean. Our waiter was friendly and prompt and the food was great.! We had fajitas and enchaladas and both were deliscious. We definately will return again!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
