5 of us arrived without a reservation on fathers day hoping to grab lunch. Unfortunately, we were told they were full (and it was packed!) No problem, we didn't plan properly. Ad we turned to leave, the manager, Pat, said hold on, let me see what I can do, its fathers day! After about 5 minutes, he got us a table. Nothing short of impeccable service. Food was excellent. Service was great. As always, the crew is very attentive to their guests. Will return.

Wonderful brunch! Warm atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. Delicious food with many unique choices. We loved everything from the oysters to the strata to the bacon wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese (oh my!). I had the hash and added their homemade hollandaise...amazing! Can't wait to go back and try them for dinner!

Outstanding. Tonight 4 of us chose different meals and each one was a culinary delight. Be sure to try the crazy dates. They'll make your mouth sing! The wait staff were all very professional and friendly.

Excellent food, wine and drink list, and service. Had the crazy dates too! Red Snapper special with pesto mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus was superb. Their own dessert and pastry chef made a magical end to the meal. Very nice atmosphere!

I travel every 8 weeks to visit my Mother in Auburn, Ma. She is eighty-seven and is in Assisted Living near by. What with my hectic schedule as a business owner in South Carolina, it slipped my mind to make a Mother's Day reservation. On a suggestion by my niece I tried to reserve here and was told they were totally booked. I thought maybe I could get some help by messaging through yelp to the management on my dilemma. I was graciously given a reservation by management for two once I shared my story. These days in our hectic world one doesn't expect such a response. When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted. The Mother's Day menu was super. We ordered crazy Dates, Shrimp, and Lobster Benedict, along with a bottle of Chardonnay. The taste, texture and presentation along with great Service made it all the better. My mother was so very pleased. Thanks Dan G and staff for topping off my trip and making the setting for a very Happy Mother!!

This was my firs trip to Sturbridge and the sole reason was to eat at Cedar Street Grille. I chose this place based on Yelp and by looking at the menu featuring small plates; which is always fun. I made a reservation just in case and man glad I did. When we arrived, the party before us were told that the wait was close to an hour. The restaurant has a cool and trendy atmosphere that I wasn't expecting. We were seated near the back with a view of the kitchen. Our waitress came over promptly after we were seated and asked us for drink orders. Our waitress came over another time and weren't ready again but she was very friendly and kept telling us to take our time. My friend is not an adventurous eater so we ended up with the sliders, mac & cheese, fried pickles and pork tacos. Everything was delicious. The mac & cheese was very cheesy and heavy. The pickles were light and sweet, the sliders were juicy and delicious and the pork tacos were seasoned well. We received two tacos and sliders each. We were full with those four small plates. I thought it was very affordable. It was ALL good. Again, our waitress was great. Very bubbly and friendly. She was helpful and down to earth. If I am ever in the area again we will be back.

I was really disappointed in my dinner tonight. I hate to even write this post. However, I am (was) a "super fan." I tell everyone about Cedar Street Grille and have dined here countless times; always cheering people from the Boston area to make the trip to Sturbridge. I drove with my family an hour and fifteen minutes just to enjoy another spectacular meal....I can't believe how different it was from just a month ago (which was amazing). We entered and were met by an employee complaining about the night being "crazy" so far. The Bistro salad is no longer offered -- hands down the best salad I have had -- why discontinue something so great? Next, the calamari "small plate" was smaller than ever and lacked the appeal it formerly possessed. The chips and hummus were quite unfortunate too. The chips were overcooked and the hummus with lemon accents...not a hit. I was looking forward to the relief of the imminent, incredible main course but to my dismay...it was rough, really rough. The halibut was dry and flavorless; the filet was forgettable; the herb chicken was "pedestrian" and I think my mother was just being gracious by saying that her leftovers "wouldn't keep." On the long ride back we considered what might have changed in such a short period of time - a new chef? Anyway, I am truly bummed out to say that I won't be rushing back. I felt compelled to write because I really loved this place.

Nice little hole-in-the-wall place. Went here before a wedding, and enjoyed a few drinks. A small bar and area to hang out, this place is mostly a sit down restaurant. I was impressed with the food my friends got, but I stuck to just drinks. They were moderately priced and the small atmosphere meant I got them quick. It was a nicely kept place, with a clean bathroom! Nothing special to make me come back, but I imagine a good place to have a meal with family. I wouldn't really endorse the bar area.

First time here and I am pleasantly surprised. Appetizers (Oysters & Truffle Fries) were great. Main courses and Mac & cheese were both excellent. Fried chicken was crisp and not greasy. Mashed potatoes were to die for! Desert was a bit of a wait but well worth it! Value all around was good and service was attentive but not superior, although I will still give 5 stars. Sturbridge gem, as all other restaurants are okay... Don't be afraid to try it, you'll love it! Budget is not a concern for us, but all and all value is good.

Our food and the service were outstanding. There is another restaurant down the road that thinks they are "the best" but Cedar Street knocks them out of the water every time! Last night we had Filet Mignon, Kale appetizer, and desserts. Everything was perfect, the filet was cooked perfectly, the appetizer and desserts were delicious. Drinks were also mixed nicely and tasted good.

Excellent food. Superb wait staff. The two of us shared one large plate and two small plates and it was just enough. Order more if you want leftovers. The drinks were delicious too. Pricey but worth it.

My friends and I had been really excited for this meal. We had tried to eat here once before but there was over an hour wait, so we made reservations for a different time a few weeks later. We were the only ones there at 430 on a Sunday. They served hummus and tortilla chips as an appetizer but the tortilla chips were stale and the hummus would have been better paired with bread or pita chips. Two of us ordered the avocado and feta salad, which lacked flavor and pizzazz and was served on a plate much too small. The avocado was brown and some of the tomatoes were rotten on the inside. We also tried the pissaladiere and the mac and cheese. The pissaladiere was advertised as drizzled in honey but it was saturated and much too sweet. The mac and cheese lacked flavor, but was creamy and not so bad with salt and pepper. The best items we got were the onion strings and tomato basil soup, which was fantastic by the way, but to say that those are the best two items on the menu doesn't say much about the food here. They need to focus less on presentation and more on flavor and quality. Overall, they're trying way too hard and it shows.

I've eaten here a few times, used the restaurant as a meeting point as it half way point from Boston and CT. This review reflects two visits. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is fantastic weather its dinner or Sunday brunch. The atmosphere is casual but still classy. I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone. Great food excellent service, good selection of beers and creatively tasty cocktails.

Note, this review is from an experience in 2013. This is a small and intimate restaurant off the beaten road of Route 20 in Sturbridge. The menu had an incredibly romantic and casual ambiance while still maintaining a casual dress code. I enjoyed the tapas menu they had displayed. This was a sentimental evening for my wife and I since we had learned we were going to have our first child. For that, the place will definitely be a great restaurant with good memories for us.

From the moment my sister and I walked in and were greeted so warmly I knew this was going to be good. It has so many great reviews, we had to try it. Plus I love a tapas place, sharing and tasting is my style. We ordered the Bistro salad. Our waiter was smart and kindly told us it was big enough for sharing so we did, and he was right. It's full of eggs and bacon and cheese and so much more than just greens. We also ordered garlic shrimp and fried goat cheese drizzled with honey. Both so good. I thought there was more there than we could eat. I was wrong. No left overs. Paired with a crisp chard this was a really great meal. We have already decided next time in Sturbridge we will eat here again. It's just that good!

Excellent, excellent dinner. I made reservations for Father's Day and I was not disappointed. We ordered fish tacos, mussels, beef sliders, shrimp scampi, and steak. It was all cooked to perfection. I would definitely come back.

Fantastic! That's the best way to describe it. From the bar to the dining room to the staff to the food to the bar. It is absolutely fantastic. If you didn't like this place than you need to seek medical assistance and or have your meds adjusted. We were in the area for the Brimfield Flea Market and I had asked my sister to find us a place to all meet for dinner and this place came highly recommend by a friend of hers and Trip Advisor. So we decided to meet there. Before my sister arrived we sat at the bar and had a nice starter while waiting. The Poke. Now this was something that was bit different for me. They used pineapple which I loved but the bite size was way too big and it wasn't formed in a mold. Instead it was piled into a wonton bowl and served with a great spicy sauce. I applaud them for doing their own thing on a classic dish though. The bar from the get reminded me of my last restaurant. Many of you who know me know my last restaurant was Ciao Brasserie in Huntington Beach. The bar was a mirrored image of our bar. Great selection of cocktails, wines and beer. We even met a wonderful couple sitting next to us. Phil and Ellie. We had great conversation and enjoyed meeting them. My sister and her brood showed up and we sat for a nice dinner. The catch of the day was Mahi Mahi. They had me at Catch. I was sold. I'm not a fan of mixing mash with fish anymore and so I decided to sans that and add some more veg. They said not a problem. They added potato though. So I guess they're insistent I have a starch with my meal. Our server Jill was amazing. And she's easy on the eyes. What a trooper she was with my sister's kids and the kids themselves were even awesome. Each one was so well behaved. Uncle Buck was very impressed. They even got to draw on the paper placed over the table for protection. SIDE NOTE: To me, it's not the kind of place I would bring kids. That's not to say you shouldn't.... it can definitely accommodate kids, but this place is more suited for couples and or adult groups looking for a fine dining experience. Maybe a couple looking to be romantic. You know what I'm say'n? Som'n Som'n. Nonetheless they made it work for us and my hats off to them for doing so. My wife had the Deep Fried chicken. I say, I say what? She said it was a bit too much food and that she loved it. I had to break from my extreme diet and try their Mac N' Cheese. Why? Because I have to try everyone else's and see if it's as good or better than mine. And this one was spot on identical. If you have tried mine you wouldn't have been able to tell them apart. Same taste, same pasta. It was excellent. Only thing missing my black truffles. Yummy. Disco Fries. Get them they're so darn good you'll want more. These aren't your southern nana's cheese fries though so be prepared. Parking is plenty. Ambiance is perfection Food is delish Service is spot on I can't wait to go back to CSG. Sure it's a 2 hour drive for us but it's a perfect place for us to meet my family out and have a nice evening. I look forward to visiting again and would definitely like to try the Brunch if we have time. Get yourselves up to CSG and have a bite!

I'd been to the Cedar Street Grille once before and had such a pleasant experience that I had no doubt tonight's visit would be any different- Cedar Street Grille lived up to my expectations again! My sister and I arrived starving & were promptly greeted, sat & offered drinks. Our waitress was patient as we took a few minutes to decide upon our order. We had such a hard time deciding between items that we decided to order 3 and share them all. The lobster sliders had a perfect ratio of lobster meat to mayo & were served with butter on the side so as to not create a greasy mess- I did not feel the need to even add any butter! The Garlic Shrimp came as 3 large shrimp in a garlic butter wine sauce with cherry tomatoes & a crostini- a perfect app! Our heavier part of the meal was the jalapeño chorizo Mac & Cheese... This may sound spicy but it had just the right amount of kick! I cannot wait to go back to try more items!!

great food, better than expected. Espresso lovers beware, a already used Lavazza coffee cartridge was used to make more shots&lemon peel was added to it:disgusting for $3.00-the cartridge cost is $ 0.40 cents

AWESOME place in Sturbridge. We went here because we just moved to the area and needed a place to have dinner. The service was excellent. The drinks were great. I had the pamplemousse, a grapefruit based cocktail. The pork spare rib appetizer was very good and exceeded our expectations. My husband had the hanger steak with sweet potato fries, I had the lobster ravioli special. Overall, the entire experience was outstanding, and reasonably priced for the fine dining experience we had. Would absolutely go back!!

Would have given five stars if the hostess wasn't so rude. Server was great and food was too. The hostess made us feel unwanted and probably steers away business. As we left she said "glad we could feed you in time" after she gave us an allotted time of under an hour to eat.

Came in today with my husband and two young children after going to the village. I only read the food reviews and forgot to check if it was child friendly, definitely not. I got the po' boy sliders, they were ok but my fries were greasy. Husband got the bacon cheese burger sliders and he wasn't impressed. The only thing they had that was close enough to child friendly was the grilled chicken which was dry and the Mac and cheese, which we thought was the best thing we got. It was really good. So in the end we were not impressed at all with the food but the staff was very friendly. We live 2 hours away so no matter what we won't be back.

We came up from NJ to visit family and stopped here based on the Yelp reviews. This place is a combo of Tapas and a few large plates. My wife ordered the fried chicken large plate that came with potatoes and spinach. I ordered glazed salmon. The salmon was cooked well but it wasn't really glazed and could have use some ginger. My wife's fried chicken was amazing and moist. The spinach and potatoes were cooked to perfection. We also ordered a side of the truffle mac and cheese. Everyone loved it except for me because I thought it was a bit greasy. My wife gobbled it up, however. My wife ordered a cocktail off the cocktail menu and wasn't overly impressed with it. She typically only likes craft cocktails that are NYC quality, however. This one was a bit watery as it didn't have slow melting ice. It wasn't memorable either.

We stopped here on a whim on our way to CT from Boston. It's a great spot, because it's not far off 84 and about half way for us. The food is SO GOOD and presented really well. Server was super friendly.

Parking is very limited next to the location, but there is more parking across the street. We made our reservations for four people a week earlier, but were given the worst table we have ever had, literally under the window where the food is left out to be served by the waiters. It was also incredibly noisy in the spot because of the ongoing din of the kitchen. While much of the restaurant may have had romantic dining, this was the complete opposite. Our waiter was fine, though had to ask the kitchen staff thru that entree serving window whether the tuna tartare was diced or sliced - it's diced, so we skipped it. The food was enjoyed, hence the 4-star rating (the overall night was 2 stars considering our location and it's ramifications). The butternut squash ravioli was liked. The $35 filet mignon was pretty good but certainly not better than Texas Roadhouse. The ($21?) salmon filet was good but seemed small. On a cold winter's night, the spot we were in was adequately heated. The wine glasses were stemless which makes it easier on the dishwasher, but makes for poor presentation.

They served my husband raw fried chicken. When we sent it back, they just put it in the oven for a few minutes. Didnt look very appetizing when it came back. And we still paid for it. Waitress was good and my ravioli were yummy. But cant forgive paying $18 for raw chicken.

I have never had a bad meal at Cedar Street . . . AND am looking forward to my next visit. It's a little pricier than other restaurants in the area, but WORTH it!!!

The service was very good but the food preparation and variety of dinners was both sub par . The prime rib was burnt. The portions of potatoes and asparagus were minimal indeed. There were no rolls. Several entrees were sold out. The menu was very limited. I would think twice about returning to Cedar Street .

First impressions were awesome. Made reservations and was able to be seated earlier than planned. Ordered small plates: Fried Goat Cheese = to die for. Crostini was seductive on its own with its buttery/garlic goodness. the raisin/chutney perfect match with earthy herby cheese. Calamari = excellent, fried pickles included were amazing. will definitely get as side on next visit. Fattoush salad = perfectly dressed Greek type salad. I appreciated that it didn't come out freezing cold like salads from most places. Perfect balance of ingredients. It was like each bite had one of everything. Also had Buffalo Chicken Mac n Cheese This was very flavorful and just enough spice. Unfortunately with the small plate feast I had to doggie bag the mac n cheese. This isn't a good "reheat" because of the REAL cheddar cheese used; the oil separated. Ambience was nice. My party was seated in the bar dining room. It was a bit noisy because of horse racing going on but was still able to converse with my friends. The place gets crowded so reservations are a must. With that said, we never felt rushed to leave. I hate it wait staff come and clear plates too early or frequently ask "Are you finished with that?". There was none of this at Cedar Street Grille. Water glasses were always refilled as well. Menu has plenty of offerings and is not overwhelming with choices. I'll definitely recommend to friends and hope to visit again myself.

I brought the family out for a nice dinner and decided to try Cedar Street as we had a gift certificate. The menu was quite good with a variety of dishes that suited everyone's different tastes. Kim our server was outstanding and the food was good all around. The desserts were to die for - the truffle trio and lemon cake were the perfect end to a great meal. Special thanks to Brad - I'm glad you convinced me to try your restaurants again. We'll be back soon!

I am giving 5 stars because our server Barbara was fantastic! The food was wonderful . Prepared perfectly, hot and tasty. Barbara was more than professional stating specals with detail, offering her recommendations and not making us feel rushed. I come here often for business and cannot say enough good things about it. Occasionally Lunch service can be slow but it's worth it. Ask for Barbara in the evenings!

I've now been here twice and cans ay that I had a really fantastic meal both times I came! They have a small but nice selection of craft beers, and their cocktail menu is great. My mom and I both got an espresso martini that was just amazing. We shared some appetizers, and I think the fried goat cheese app might be my favorite. My brother got the steak pablo, and called it "possibly the best meal I've ever had". I got the fish special, and my mom loved her teriyaki salmon. The service here is great. It's a nice weekend "anytime" place, and is also great for special occasions and celebrations. Quality is what you'd find in Boston or another major city, so I was especially happy to see this so close to my hometown.

Was in town this past weekend for a wedding and was looking for a quiet lunch spot after a long drive. Surprisingly, the Cedar Street Grille was not on the list of recommended area restaurants at our hotel. Thankfully, a quick Yelp search showed that Cedar Street Grille was a local hot spot! It did not disappoint. I was not expecting to find such creative, high quality food in the quaint town of Sturbridge, on the tiny Cedar Street. It was a late lunch for us (around 2pm), so the place was nearly empty and the host kindly let us pick our seats. The space was casual and relaxing, with a separate dining room and bar. We ordered the "crazy dates" to start, and WOW, what a treat! Huge, sweet medjool dates stuffed with goat cheese, wrapped in bacon and drizzled with balsamic reduction. The perfect salty-sweet bite. We then split a bowl of roasted tomato soup, which was smokey, cheesy and had a bit of heat at the end, and the Nicoise salad with confit tuna, which was fresh and perfectly dressed. After hearing our serving praise Chef Patty's desserts so highly, we couldn't help ourselves, and had to try his brownie. Oh. My. Gosh. Truly to DIE for. It was a wise decision to split it, since there's no way we each could have eaten one. It was incredibly decadent: a dense, deeply chocolatey, fudgy brownie, topped with smooth and airy chocolate mousse, covered in chocolate ganache studded with oreo crumbs. If you're in the area and are looking for a delicious dining experience, forgo the more popular touristy restaurants and make sure to stop at this great little bistro!

I was in town on business and went to Yelp to find a place. OVERRATED for sure! Here goes: - hostess was a moron - waitress described the specials in ridiculous detail but in a non-helpful slow manner - the menu is incoherent - it was like tapas but not Spanish and also not food you would want in small plates necessarily with no real apps - i ordered a "tapas" caesar salad which was hardly "small" and soaked in dressing and a steak medium rare. the steak was cooked fine but the cut was not great. it had little flavor and i almost wanted to ask for steak sauce. shocking, i know. - the waitress brought me a weird side of hummus and crackers after she brought the salad out. i guess that is what they serve instead of bread. it made no sense. nothing on the menu was really greek or complimented the hummus... - everything was slow and the waitress seemed like a space cadet. nothing was offensive and nothing was great. i wanted to give it 3 stars because it wasn't terrible but that really shouldn't be the dining standard. skip this place and go to the one that is like a historic landmark or something.

So this place was a Yelp find. I was in Sturbridge for business and did a quick search on my app for the closest place with ratings. Yelp... you did not disappoint! I came here by myself and didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable. The staff was really nice and welcoming (I even got a compliment on my dress) but otherwise they left me alone which is perfect! I asked my waitress what to order and she did not steer me wrong. You have to try the bacon wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese... bacon candy is the only description. I would have licked my plate if we weren't in public. I also had the pan seared scallops. Yum yum yum. Everything on the menu looked great so I doubt you can really go wrong. Give it a try if you are in the area.

I REALLY enjoyed my meal here last night. I went with two friends and split a number of small plates - highlights included the fish tacos, garlic shrimp, lobster sliders, and friend bananas for desert. We were a little worried about the Yelp designation of "dressy attire," but don't let that stop you - the hostess had on flip flops and you can be seated at the bar in casual dress. A lovely spot for lunch or dinner!

Wow, superb! The bistro salad is by far one of the best salads I've ever had. Now I find myself day dreaming about it at work. The buffalo chicken mac & cheese was delicious, so was the fried chicken entree. Definitely worth the drive! Coming back soon!

This place was excellent... We are from the area and were looking for a new place to have dinner on Saturday night. I cam across the rave reviews for the Cedar Street Grille and we gave it a try! It was very good... the service was prompt, the atmosphere was great and the food was delicious! Will definitely be coming here again, a great local spot to have a slightly upscale yet casual dining experience!

Went there for our anniversary dinner. Staff was very helpful and attentive even with a busy dining room that night. We each ordered 2 small plates, one cold and one hot, had drinks and dessert. Food was outstanding! We started wi the fried pickle chips which were done up just right, had a great sauce on them too! She had lobster bruschetta which I'm told was great! I also had the Korean beef skewers for my final plate, like the rest of the meal, it was excellent. We finished off with a choco-holics dream, some kind of chocolate mousse and cake and whipped cream. All in all an excellent meal! They also have a great beer selection too! Will be going back soon and often! If you're visiting from out of town it's a must visit!

Food was very good. Lamb taco was delicious. Sheppards Pie was great. Only disappointment was they said they had pumpkin creme brulee but when brought to the table, they were out and brought plain. It was good but not what ordered. Still a nice place with good food.

Wife and I were very pleased with our Cedar Street Grille experience. Its a fairly small place..yet the tables are laid out so that you never sense you are on top of your neighbor. very attractive interior...lighting is a bit dim, yet very pleasant. servers are youthful and dying to please....not overbearing but always around if you need them. My manhattan cocktail was very well made..if a tad small. my wife's pinot grigio was fine. we split a house salad..delicious cheese strips and lots of fresh veggies. Wife had the butternut squash ravioli and loved it..hearty portion. I had the short ribs..plenty of meat served on top of tasty mashed potatoes. We both had desserts....my crème brulee was smooth and creamy... and served with real whipped cream...wife had gingerbread cake and gave it high marks. prices aren't cheap..but fair. you get what you pay for....and what you get here is delicious food..served by friendly folks in an attractive atmosphere. enjoy!!

Probably my favorite place to eat in sturbridge. The sliders with sweet potato fries is my favorite "small plate" to get. The sweet potato fries are always hot and crispy - made to perfection! A must try. Has a very contemporary feel to it - which many of the places around this location seem to lack.

cedar street grill is great for both its small and large plates. Went for an anniversary and ordered the fried pickles plate to begin, followed by fried goat cheese and shrimp. The goat cheese was amazing with drizzled honey and cranberry chutney. For our second plates we ordered the tuna and the avocado salad. both were phenomenal. We ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert and the plating was as amazing as the food. We've eaten multiple times since and have yet to have a bad plate. Overall the prices are a little high for the size of the plates and drinks are slightly overpriced but if you are looking for great food and drink it is deff worth the extra couple dollars for each plate.

A waist of time. No way this place is worth stopping at, food is marginal and service was lousy. The booth we sat in was not very clean and for what you get it's way over priced.

This past week I decided to forego my usual Friday pub-fare to give Cedar Street Grille a try. This is one of only a handful of restaurants that have an account with Tree House Brewing in Brimfield, so I thought it might be good to have a few beers and try some of the small plates. I was initially tempted to get an entree, but I found the prices to be excessively high, and I wanted to at least try some food before I dropped any serious money on a dinner sized portion. The restaurant's overall atmosphere is not bad at all. Nice lighting, clean, pleasant enough. The waitstaff was very friendly, though occasionally a little overbearing. In terms of food, my girlfriend and I split a few of the "Hot Small Plates." We had the dates, fried goat cheese, disco fries, and pickle chips. Overall, it was mediocre at best. The pickle chips were tasty on the top, but the bottom layers were so grease soaked that they were largely inedible. The goat cheese was fine, but ultimately more of a gimmick than a well thought out dish. Exceptionally heavy, and I thought it was a little odd to have a quarter inch of batter around cheese and then spread that batter and cheese on the bread. Speaking of bread, the crostini served with the cheese was so dry that it essentially disintegrated into a bland powder after the first bite. The dates were actually fairly good, but in my opinion charging $7 for four individual dates is absolutely insane. I was expecting a small platter of dates given the menu description's lack of size indication. Finally, the disco fries were fine, but again, the portion size was not adequate for the price. The cheese sauce was nice, but there wasn't much of it on the fries at all. In the end, I would say there's no reason to avoid Cedar Street Grille per se, but I would not endorse trying it either. If this were in the heart of a city like Boston, the prices might be within reason, but given it's location and the quality of food, they are borderline laughable. I can't in good conscience give one star, because nothing was actually bad, but I also feel a little uncomfortable giving two stars as I will certainly never recommend this place to my friends or family.

Our experience went from BAD to pretty GOOD to DISAPPOINTMENT. BAD: We were celebrating a friend's birthday on a Saturday night and didn't get seated until 1 hour and 15 minutes later even though we had a reservation. Good: We were offered a round of free drinks and $50 credit for a group of 10. Good: The food came pretty quickly. We were starving by the time we ate. From what I can recall I would RECOMMEND the fried goat cheese, Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato & Prosciutto Salad, Risotto fritto, and hanger steak. Disappointing: Error on our check, which we didn't notice until the next day. Management didn't fix the error, blamed it on us.

Me and my girl came from NY to the brimfield show. checked out this place, excellent. We were greeted warmly, smelled great walking up to the place. good cozy feeling inside. Our man Pat waited on us. either pat or matt. gave us great recommendations and was not over baring or over pushy. left us alone but knew when to approach the table. Pro. I thought the food was above average. best I had was the asparagus with goat cheese and bacon and baked tomato. Anyway, safe place to eat, they seem to take pride in their food and staff. see ya in july when we come back for the next show.

We have been to the Cedar Street Grille a few times and when I asked my mom where she wanted to go when she visited for the holidays, that was where she picked. We arrived for our 7:00 reservation a few minutes early and were seated on time. However, it went downhill from there. It took what seemed like forever to be acknowledged by our waitress. Once she finally came to take our drink orders it had probably been at least 15 minutes. Two of our three drinks arrived and were half consumed by the time the waitress came back to take our food order, at which point we pointed out that we were missing a drink (so we sat around with menus for at least 30 minutes). Our appetizers came and we thoroughly enjoyed them. So much so that we asked for extra crostini to sop up the broth from the angry clams. However, the waitress never put the order in. Eventually the hostess tried to clear our appetizer plates and we told her we were still waiting for more crostini and that we had asked our waitress for it. She came back 5 minutes later and said, "are you still waiting for that crostini?" "yes, yes we are" She promptly got some for us (after we waited for at least 10 minutes for what amounts to toast). Our meals followed and I should insert at this point that the food was all delicious. Of the four of us, we all loved our meals. Yet, my husband's soup came without a spoon and my steak came without a steak knife (the butter knife really didn't cut it). Once we finished our meals our plates sat in front of us for a good 15 minutes before anyone came to clear them. Meanwhile, there were staff wrapping silverware bundles nearby. Why they weren't clearing plates, filling water glasses (another complaint.... water glasses left empty for far too long) or doing anything to help the waitstaff was beyond me. Eventually we were able to ask for the check. My father promptly put out his credit card and we waited another 15 minutes for the waitress to come back to get it. At this point, we were discussing under what situation you walk away without paying. The entire outing took us 2 hours and 15 minutes, over half of which was spent waiting for someone or something. The only reason this restaurant gets two stars is because the food really was exceptional and because we have been there before and know the service CAN be adequate (I wouldn't say we have ever had exceptional, or even good service, it always seems slow).

A real restaurant in a wooded modern pub environment. The food is full of quality choices in both a traditional entree style and the modern small plates variety. I started with their red flight of moderately priced wines. While all were gone, 2 combined an earthiness and fruity flavor that melded well with the food choices. The also have a wide selection of beer and full bar. We started with small plates including the tuna, falafel and salad. By the time the 4 of us had wandered through desert, we had polished off a half a dozen more small plates including some excellent sweet potato fries. From our group only one of us ventured in a full entree, a rib eye special which was cooked perfectly. Since we had to satisfy a few special diets, they altered their desert item and produced a scrumptious warm dates with maple syrup desert. It melted in our mouths, was healthy to eat and offered dates in a different temperature and texture die to the warming of the dish including the sweetness of the maple syrup. This dish creates a sweetness that is beyond the artificial tastes found in most desserts. The service was excellent and set off by the fun and humor of the waitstaff. Prices were reasonable, but after all those small plates it is not an inexpensive venue.

The staff were pleasant and accommodating; service and presentation excellent! The bar is nice and well stocked with most regular hard drinks, beer and a modest wine offering. I made an unusual request of the bar and based on a quick description they accommodated very nicely. The fresh humus and still warm pita chips were an interesting and flavorful welcome. The salads were top notch. The felafel and feta were not up to the par of the rest of the meal. The main dish (hanger steak) was very well prepared and served with a starch, vegetables and dramatic fresh seasonings. There was a strange juxtaposition of the high end feeling and the fancy french fries... Caveat: the table in the corner closes to the bar has an A/C duct that might be great on a very hot day, but was way too much, blasting up your leg, for a pleasant fall day. For the area, these folks are doing an amazing job and trying very hard to be outstanding. If you are looking for someplace nice, definitely check these guys out!

I had heard great things about this restaurant, but I was disappointed. The ambience was pleasant and decor clean and understated. My small plate was moroccan chicken tacos; it was bland and had no semblance of being Moroccan fusion with Mexican. It tasted like neither. My entree was supposed to have been Ahi tuna on a bed of gnocchi covered in seafood (squid, clams, and mussels). The plating was beyond sloppy. There were no gnocchi. Instead the chef substituted pasta shells ( not al dente). Some of the mussels were not open, meaning they were not safe to eat, so they should have removed by kitchen staff. The tomato sauce was watery and tasteless. I was at a business dinner, but I could not bring myself to eat this disastrous dish. The server picked it up and asked what was wrong with the dish I had to inform her of only one of its many problems out of compassion, that the tuna was not fresh and in fact tasted old. The espresso was not good quality coffee. The dessert was good but not great.

I was really not impressed with this place. I thought the portion sizes were wacky and the menu items were jumbled. It didn't seem like they had one niche or genre. We ordered the fried pickles to start which were soggy and unappetizing. For my meal I ordered the worst falafel I have ever had. Was not a fan at all. I also got a side of sweet potato fries which met my standards...A+ on the fries. I probably would never come back here. Nothing really peaked my interest and I was very disappointed with the falafel.

My wife and I meet friends here because it's halfway between our homes in Boston and Hartford and it sure beats the chain restaurant options. We usually eat tapas style: there's a lot to choose from and it's all pretty good. Whatever you choose, include the bacon-wrapped figs.

After having a great experience the first time we came here for lunch, my wife had been dying to come back. We finally came back today. We came in at 1pm on a saturday. It wasn't too busy, the dining room was fairly empty, so we sat there. The waitress came over after a few minutes and filled our waters, told us about the specials and took our drink orders. The drinks took a while to come over, but they were very good. We ordered a couple apps and two kinds of sliders. It took a very long time for the apps to come out but they were great (dates and calamari). After we polished those off the waitress came back and got us another round of drinks, again those took a while and then the sliders came out. I got pork belly and my wife got the fried chicken. Both were disappointing. The chicken was very thick and tough to bite through because it was over cooked and dry. The flavors were ok, not much of a coating on it. The gravy was good, but there wasn't enough of it. My pork belly was tiny. The pieces only took up half of the roll, leaving half of the sliders with bites of just bread. It was also overcooked and very crunchy. The meaty part was a combination of overcooked pork chop and jerky. We only had a couple bites each. We were both still hungry so we ordered the brownie for dessert. This was super rich and very good. Overall, we got out of there just under 2 hours after we were sat. Thats a little long considering we were just waiting most of the time. For the price of the food, I expect proper proportions and not to be cooked to death. Its a shame the food isn't consistent and quicker. It was a 4 the first lunch and a 2 for this lunch, so I'll average that to a 3

We visited the Cedar Street Grille for my birthday. I wanted a special spot offering meals I couldn't find anywhere else. My wish was granted! The food here is amazing - all fresh ingredients, meats and fish cooked to perfect, well thought-out sides accompany all of the entrees. It was a delight to dine here - we had a party of six and they easily accommodated all of us. Appetizers, drinks, entrees, drinks - all flowed seamlessly. Our waitress was also very knowledgeable about the menu and preparation of the dishes. Dine tapas-style or entrees - you cannot be disappointed here! Even the silverware is heavenly.

Came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday tonight. This place had decent reviews and was a half way point for us so hell, we gave it a shot. Waitress came over to greet us and pour water which splashed all over my shoe. Not the greatest start but she was friendly and apologetic. I ordered a 8 oz filet and he ordered a 12 oz steak. We both wanted them medium but got medium well to well done depending on where you cut into steak. Very inconsistent but flavors were good. With the steaks, we ordered two small plates to share; jerk chicken tacos and parmesan truffle fries. Tacos were dripping, soggy and not spicy (assuming jerk chicken would have some heat). They had a more Hawaiian fruity flavor to it. Fries were stellar! Cheese? Oil? Winning combination if you ask me. Desserts were the best part. I thought the hazelnut mousse was to die for and he loved the macadamia roll. I only give it three stars because the food was very inconsistent and way too aggressively priced. I'd be more inclined to come back for dessert and drinks.

Buyer beware. This restaurant is really between the $$$ and $$$$ range. For the cost of two meals our bill came to $120.00. We had a $50 gift certificate so that helped but for that much money we were expecting more. Our meals were good but not great. No bread served-just corn chips with hummus-again for the price you can't serve some homemade bread? Portions were small and our meal was served lukewarm. The cost of the sides add up fast and they weren't that great besides. I will not be going back because the value was not there and the food wasn't that great. The cost of this meal didn't even include alcohol! I don't understand why places like this are even able to stay in business. We go all over to eat and we have experienced much better food at a much better value at plenty of other places.

I was there for a conference nearby and had both lunch and dinner there. Lunch had a pretty straightforward menu with some different dishes. I had an eggplant wrap and it was great. Dinner was more tapas style and I had the salmon with buffalo mac & cheese. Overall I was impressed with the service and the food, so I'd recommend stopping in if you ever get a chance.

Great place for lunch or dinner. The food is eclectic and tasty. Beautiful remodel was done a few years back and new ownership too. The bar is a nice space for a lunch with friends or dinner out. You can't go wrong with this place--the service has been a little slow at times, but nothing unusual for a busy night at any popular spot. Great beer list too!!

Excellent meal start to finish! From the tomato, spinach soup to the baked haddock and butternut squash ravioli. The meal ended with a fried banana and vanilla ice cream. Okay, so I only had dessert here, but it was such a nice experience, I can't help but think a meal would be very good too. We were looking for a place to get coffee and maybe a dessert, which, in Sturbridge, seemed a little tough at 9-ish at night. The folks at Cedar Street were clearly in wind-down mode for the evening, but enthusiastically welcomed us and made us at home in their attractive dining room. The dessert menu was stocked with some very pleasant choices. They do a changing bread pudding, described by the server, but what really caught my eye was the Earl Grey creme brulee with honey and lemon sauce. We ordered coffee. I had one of their French Press offerings - an Ethiopian Harrari - that was very good. My companion and I shared the creme brulee. It was a really interesting combination of flavors, nicely presented and very well prepared. The coffee and dessert would make this a high-three star in my book, but the pleasant surroundings, and, above all, the gracious staff, make this a high-four. Our server not only made us feel welcome, she let us linger very comfortably after they had clearly served their last meal and we were the only customers. She explained that they'd be there a while, setting up for a party the next day in another room and actually even went so far as to put on little background music after they'd shut that off earlier. For a tiny check at the end of the night, we were treated like long-time regulars. I think that makes these folks a very pleasant surprise.

Delightful spot. Nice dining room, welcoming bar, attentive staff. The menu is varied, offering something for everyone. The soup of the moment was roasted corn chowder -- so good we took a pint to go. The Cuban sandwich tasty and my "cimitas" sliders were wonderfully flavored. Nice variety on the wine-by-the-glass selections. Overall very satisfying.

A great restaurant for a special meal. Their selections are creative and well-prepared, with high quality ingredients. I have had dinner here several times with business associates and we have always had a delicious meal, usually each is us ordering two of their "small plates" as a meal. The menu is updated periodically, so some of my favorites are no longer available, including a Caprese salad and a warm duck plate (whose exact name I cannot recall). But there is always a good variety of selections, so almost anyone should be able to find something to their taste. The atmosphere is casual yet sophisticated, and the wait staff attentive without being overbearing. The desserts are enticing and delicious - so rich I had to take at least half of my chocolate dessert home with me. I will certainly come here again when the occasion arises, maybe a family celebration as I want my husband and daughter to experience this delicious cuisine too.

This restaurant truly has ambience and is a place to go for anything from a date to a business meeting (I went here for the latter). Though it is a bit pricey, the food is creatively prepared and very good. Portions of both food and wine are healthy and overall well worth the price. I find the meats (lamb, steak, etc.) are better than fish and seafood entrees, thus not a great place to bring a vegetarian or pescetarian. If it were not for that, I would give 5 stars.

This is my second visit since the new ownership. My wife and I went on a Friday night for date night. Made reservations earlier in the day for 7:45. Upon arrival we were brought to our seats right away. In general, service was just okay, they may have been understaffed that night. We started with the calamari, which I got last visit. This time is was good, not as good as last but still good. We got the avocado and feta salad, which was great. My wife got the salmon with mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. She loved it. I got the steak frites, 12oz hanger steak, with an arugula blue cheese salad and potatoes au gratin. The steak was very good, lots of taste. Salad was great and the potatoes were awesome. For desert we go the chocolate tort and baked Alaska lemon pie. Both were awesome. When it's been a while since we have had a good meal at a restaurant, we know its time for cedar street grille.

If you are the Applebees, TGI Fridays type looking for formula food, processed, par-cooked, and frozen far away and shipped to the restaurant for reheating, keep looking. Cedar Street Grille isn't for you. If you're content to eat off from a paper plate with a plastic fork, keep driving, this restaurant uses real silverware. If you think Mc D fries are the best, got yours there; we'll take the hand-cut fries this kitchen proudly puts out. Every dish was hand prepared from scratch, just the way we'd do it at home. The Bistro Salad was wonderful, and the lettuces didn't come precut from a bag shipped from California. The tomato bisque tasted like, well, fresh tomatoes and basil, and it was hot when it got to the table, not just lukewarm. My Tomahawk Porkchop was tender and flavorful, prepared just right, and the wild mushroom ragout that came with it was a perfect foil for the sauce. Our server Sonia, was bright, capable and personable, kept the food coming, and the water glasses full. Two of us ate two courses each with and appetizer for about $70. First five star I've ever given, well-deserved.

We went here with my wife and her parents on a Thursday evening. We got there early, about 15 minutes after they opened, so some of our delay might (but shouldn't) be explained by this. Our waitress was very polite and professional and attended to us as soon as we were seated. Then, the "fun" began. After ordering our appetizers, we waited approximately 30 minutes for them to be delivered to our table. After asking the waitress if she could check on them, she finally returned with only one of them; the other came out about 5 mintues later. Both appetizers were exceptional. However, the soups that followed were NOT good. My apple and fennel soup tasted like microwaved applesauce. The meals finally came after additional prodding, and 3 out of 4 of us were not impressed. 2 of us, including me, had the salmon, and, while the accompaniments were exceptional, the actual salmon was not fresh and tasted terrible. Our one success was the rack of lamb, so if you go here, that is my suggestion. Dessert, a chocolate cake with blueberries was also outstanding. When the check came, they added 20% gratuity because we used a gift certificate. Apparently, the waitress feared we were novice diners who didn't know that you tipped on the original bill. I'd have given 3 stars if not for that. Overall, average meals, questionable service, expensive price.

We were referred to this restaurant and I am very happy! Cedar Street Restaurant is a must! We went tonight and even on a holiday, the service was PERFECT and so was the food. The appetizer - Beef Carpaccio Spring Rolls... these were amazing. The butter... the butter for the hot bread was incredible - I only wish I could remember what the waitress said it was! I had the rack of lamb and it was terrific. Seriously... I could not think of one thing to say to improve this place. I have read the reviews here and am very surprised people are saying it's pricey. I think anyone who is used to fine dining.... will happily pay the bill at this place.

I would like to preface this review by stating that I am not an uppity person that goes around to restaurants expecting to be treated like royalty, especially since I was a waitress for ten years. I called the Cedar Street Grille the night before my dinner to make reservations. The girl on the phone asked where I would like to sit. Would I like to sit in the lounge? I asked if that was the bar. She said yes, and said there were high top tables in the bar. I declined, as this was an anniversary dinner and I wanted a more formal room and one without t.v.s. Also, high top tables do a number on my back. She said they also had a dining room that offered tables and booths, so I requested a booth. When I arrived at the restaurant with my boyfriend the following night, I gave the hostess my name and told her I had a reservation. She proceeded to lead me into the bar. I then told her we had a reservation for a booth in the dining room. She brought us back to the hostess stand where at least three other people where milling to and from. No one remembered/would admit to/was available to recall the conversation we had had. We were told "I'm sorry, we don't have you down for a booth." This was not an apology "I'm sorry" but a confused "I'm sorry." Then we were told the hostess would be "right with us." We stood and waited for ten minutes. Finally, I walked up to the hostess stand and asked how long the wait would be for any table in the dining room and was told an hour. There was no attempt to amend the situation by the staff. Given the reputation of the restaurant, I was surprised. I have never worked at a successful restaurant in which customers were treated like this. So I said thank you, left, and went to another restaurant to spend lots of money and overtip the waitress. Because sadly for the Cedar Street Grille, that is how I eat out.

This used to be a really great restaurant until it was taken over by a Sturbridge "restaurant group". The food is now mediocre at best and the prices are excessive for the small portions they serve. The tapas are really appetizers with full meal prices and a really bad deal in my opinion. We spent plenty of money and left hungry. And the place is now set up as "hangout" tavern for young people. If you're over 30 you look ancient in here. In our opinion the place has been ruined.

Hello Napa Valley. That's where I lived for 5 incredible yrs and ate the best food and crushed grapes with my feet. I miss it. But Cedar Street let me have a taste of it once again. Their portions are huge which isn't like Napa. But still my husband and I ordered One of everything anyway and took home the rest, excellent leftovers. The service was extrodinary, I use to wait tables so I'm pretty picky. The wine selection was great we of course, drank California wines. We had tomato soup, beef carpacio stuffed w an asian slaw, sweetbreads, duck w risotto, beef stew, fried chicken and bread pudding. Yes were pigs plus I'm super pregnant. We barley touched our entrees. The menu changes seasonally so don't expect to get the items I just listed. Oh and at the beginning of the meal they serve you warm bread, the best,I made my husband go back the next day and get me a loaf, served with lemon whipped butter. Super Reasonable. I'd go back once a month if I made more money, it's hard to try any other restaurant.

Superb brunch spot!!! Loved this place! Great service, attentive and friendly. Selection for brunch was spot on with what a brunch should be. :) drink menu offered some good choices to compliment the ultimate weekend treat. Highly recommend if you want good atmosphere, exceptional food and good prices. P.S. Crazy dates were a GREAT app!

great food, better than expected.

This was a nice surprise! It is a small yet classy restaurant in A great location. We went for lunch and it was fantastic!! The grilled cheese--amazing! This place was excellent... We are from the area and were looking for a new place to have dinner on Saturday night. I cam across the rave reviews for the Cedar Street Grille and we gave it a try!

We both had desserts....my crème brulee was smooth and creamy... and served with real whipped cream...wife had gingerbread cake and gave it high marks. prices aren't cheap..but fair. you get what you pay for....and what you get here is delicious food..served by friendly folks in an attractive atmosphere. enjoy!!

A waist of time. No way this place is worth stopping at, food is marginal and service was lousy. The booth we sat in was not very clean and for what you get it's way over priced.

Pros: best food in Sturbridge, great beer on tap, delightful servers, comfy atmo Cons: the food is average quality and aggressively priced. Don't go out of your way.

Went for lunch today. Nice ambiance, friendly atmosphere. Waitress was attentive. Food was very good with good presentation. I had the Steak Frites, which was excellent! All in all, I'd definitely go back. Not inexpensive, but upscale and worth it.

The waitress, Jill, besides being absolutely gorgeous was attentive and paced the full meal perfectly. Did I mention she was gorgeous?

We had an amazing evening at Cedar Street Grille. The tapas were great and we even had dessert. We sat at a high top table in the bar, which was very cozy and warm. Our server was very nice and so was the rest of the staff. I only wish we lived closer.

Food was great. Waitress was very nice. Only thing we did not like was the bloody mary no horseradish! Tasted like tomato juice only. Our kids were very happy too! We ordered many small plates and shared.
