Delicious! Freshly made spring rolls, with what tastes like home made peanut sauce and the aromatic peppers in beef meatballs in my pho is also something new. Service was fast, and the pho bowl, if you get the large special, is a giant bowl of tastiness. The shrimp on sugarcane is also very tasty - shrimp paste over sugar cane and a mix of nicely blended favors. Small with two pieces so you may want to order more than one. Comparable to the good pho spots back in California, will make this a definitely stop for road trips up to Quebec! (I ate everything so fast, realized I had forgotten about photos, haha)

Absolutely amazing! This was my first experience with Vietnamese food and our server recommended exactly what to have based on my likes (lemongrass chicken with rice) and I was so pleased. My husband got a seafood stew (can't remember the name) and loved it! The taro smoothie ended my night and I wish I could have one of these drinks every night. The service here tonight was wonderful. Our sever was very helpful and attentive and such a pleasure to meet. We do not live close by but if we did we would be here every week!

Holy moly, this is the best pho I've ever had. The portions are great, and they give you a whole ton of meat unlike other restaurants. i really cannot be happier. And can we talk about the decor? It's really wonderful inside with great lighting and good atmosphere. Service was top notch as well. Was checked on at least 3 times within 30 minutes.

This was my first stop on my adventure to find some Vietnamese food in the area. Not that I had a terrible experience here but this place is more of an "Intro to Viet food." As another reviewer stated, this place is more touristy. They have the more popular dishes such as pho, bun, and com thit nuong. If they were to expand their menu to reflect what mom would cook for dinner then I'd be back for sure. I was disappointed that they didn't serve thai tea which I feel is a staple for any restaurant with pho, but that's just my personal opinion. Since this was my first time here I stuck with the pho tai bo vien. It was served in less than 5 minutes and wasn't too bad. The broth was flavorful and they were not stingy with the meat, I actually got more than 1 cut up meatball. The waiter was extremely friendly and quick so that's definitely something that will encourage me to come back and try the other items on their menu.

Breathe in the beautiful scented broth and taste it, unspoiled by any condiments. Next, squeeze on some lime and add your favoured condiments and garnishes. Mix with chopsticks and a spoon. Pile the ingredients onto your spoon and slurp away, bringing the bowl to your mouth and drinking every last sop of broth. You can go without most of the garnishes but using the right noodles is very important. Laced with the warm fragrant spices of star anise, coriander seeds, cinnamon and cloves -- with top notes of fresh herbs, onions and citrus and brimming with noodles, every mouthful feels nourishing to the body and mind. For me, pho is about home, wherever that may be. I constantly crave it, especially when I'm away from my family. Pho Saigon manages to hit all the right notes when I'm craving. In this particular part of Springfield, there's certainly no shortage of Vietnamese restaurants. But the always friendly and informative staff, a medley of Vietnamese dishes available, and overall experience has me coming back. I haven't had a dish that didn't remind me of Mom. Starters, vermicelli, noodle and rice dishes, everything is tastefully prepared. Smoothies aren't bad and overall pricing is reasonable. Closed Wednesday's and open until 9pm most nights, Pho Saigon is one of my top choices when I'm craving good Vietnamese.

So unique and so good. I hadn't been in awhile and was not disappointed. I had a craving for their spring rolls and grilled beef on onion skewers and bot were as good as I remembered. Picture beef on a stick, but the stick is an onion that crunches when you bite the beef. Picture spring rolls ( not egg rolls) with shrimp, rice, chicken, vermicelli and fresh veggies wrapped in rice paper served with a peanut dipping sauce. Top these apps off with a Happy Pancake stuffed with shrimp chicken and sprout. Now imagine that all of this is ridiculously reasonably priced. Don't you want to go right now? Neighborhood no the greatest so I as a single woman would not go alone in the dark. But there is easy nearby parking so if you go with a friend you'll be okay.

Pho Saigon, I had my expectations set far too high. It's not your fault-- my favorite Vietnamese place (in Tucson, AZ) is called Miss Saigon, and I guess I subconsciously set myself up for a little disappointment. First, the positives: -I love the quirky, indie feel of this restaurant. It doesn't feel sterile and barren like most Vietnamese pho joints do. I would definitely consider this a date-worthy restaurant. -the service was fast. I walked in and placed a to go order and walked out less than 7 minutes later. -the staff was very friendly; both employees who helped me had a smile on their face and were pleasant, as well as helpful. The negatives (or, as I like to call them, opportunities for improvement): -I ordered the rare beef pho (small) and a mango green tea with tapioca. The mango green tea was sickly sweet, downright undrinkable. I tossed it with less than half of it gone. Too much mango purée, plus the green tea tasted like it had been sweetened to begin with. Next time, I'll order something different. I wish they had honey milk tea! -the rare beef pho was just ok. The broth, to my taste, seemed very perfumey and off-balance. The noodles were excellent and the beef was very nice as well. The garnish was a little underwhelming. This is the second pho shop here in Springfield that chop up the cilantro and mixes it with the onions; in AZ, you get a whole bunch of it, served on the stem like the basil, to add to your pho broth. And again, for the second time here in MA, the sriracha sauce is served mixed in with the hoisin sauce! Bleh. Thankfully I have my own sriracha at home. -Finally, their parking situation sucks. The two huge parking lots owned by other businesses across the street apparently tow quite frequently, as referenced by the numerous signs posted in the restaurant. Curbside parking near the restaurant is impossible, there was no availability for several blocks. I hope there's a solution for this as it's really inconvenient, especially for those ordering takeout. I will definitely be back to Pho Saigon, especially for dine-in date nights. I'm excited to try some different (less saccharin) drinks and expand outward from pho to bahn mi!

This restaurant seems quite authentic, however the food is mediocre. Atmosphere: clean, pleasant, quiet, waiters seem to hover. No wait, however! Appetizers: craving spring rolls, we ordered the shredded pork spring rolls, which I would not recommend. Not only was it not shredded pork, but rather just a dried, chalky, minced pork and clearly made a while back since it came within a few seconds. Pho: the soup is very clear and well-seasoned. Brisket slices were too thin, yet tendon was too thick and chewy. The tendons needed to be stewed for longer. The meat was also strangely tough. Service: ah, my favorite part... Waiters seemed to hover a bit. Our waiter was having a lot of trouble getting our orders correct. All we wanted was to order the special combo pho without meat balls and flank. He repeated my order incorrectly three times, and even then ended up giving me the wrong size. They also kept talking about the order away from the table over and over again as if they were struggling (?). All in all, good place if you're craving pho and pho only. Actually, iced coffee wasn't bad!

I won't pretend to know anything about Vietnamese food and I've only been to a handful of Vietnamese restaurants but this place is delicious. I ordered take out pho with rare beef and it was pho-nomenal! Ha. The onions, bean sprouts and basil were fresh and crunchy, the sliced jalapeño added the perfect amount of heat and the clear broth was salty and flavorful. It also came with some hoisin and what appeared to be sriracha or some other type of chili sauce for adjustable heat or sweetness. I also got an order of fresh spring rolls served with peanut sauce. What's not to love? You've got the crunch of the veggies, soft and chewy vermicelli noodles, fresh shrimp, chicken and some rich peanut sauce to round out an otherwise healthy appetizer. It's just the best. I ordered takeout but I think this would be an adorable date night place. It's not fancy but the inside is really cute and what's sweeter than sharing some pho on a cold, blustery, fall night?

Swish. The pho ain't faux. Worth the detour if you wanna avoid Hoopsville's over priced themesteraunts. Very affable service with prominently displayed awards for many consecutive years as best Vietnamese in the area. (Do you think it's the ONLY one in the area? Not sayin'). No matter, give it your 3 pt. best shot.

I have been dining at Pho Saigon for over 8 years now, sometimes as frequently as 2-3 times a week. No matter what day of the week, whether for lunch or dinner, I am pleased to find friendly and attentive wait staff, absolutely delicious food, and an immaculately kept restaurant. The price point is perfect, as meal portions are often large and stretch into a second meal; they re-heat very well. Give it a try! You won't be disappointed.

Love this place! Extremely clean, the food is amazing and the service is outstanding. I recommend you try the spring rolls, number 43 and 47.

  • Erin W.

My husband and I love this place. Everything we have ordered has been delicious! We've only gotten take away, but the pho is big enough to split for a light meal or add some fried rice for a more filling meal. Also, recommend the spring rolls which are fresh and light. The pho broth is well balanced and satisfying on a cold day, sometimes they have a funny flavor but Pho Saigon is very consistently delicious.

After visiting the Basketball Hall of Fame we headed to Pho Saigon for some lunch, before heading back to Connecticut. Restaurant is nice and clean, and the service is very friendly. The Pho is of great taste, and we all enjoyed our bowls (nr. 9 & 18) tremendously. The Mango Smoothy or Mango Green Tea are both excellent. Make sure to park your car on the side of the restaurant, if you park your vehicle on the lot across the street you risk to be towed away.

Pho Saigon is officially my go to place for my weekly Pho date. With several Pho restaurants that sit within striking distance none compares. The one across the street is good but dirty. Bamboo has crap service and their broth sucks. What makes good pho is the broth. Pho Saigon nails it which has me coming back every Wednesday.

The best Pho in the area! Everything's very fresh and flavorful, and most importantly very authentic. Their chicken wing special can't be beat!

Food is amazing!!! My boyfriend and I visited while we were on vacation in Springfield, so glad we found this incredible place. It is small, but intimate. Food is great, staff is friendly. We loved this little hole in the wall place!!

Pho seems to be a little gem found in a not so nice area of Springfield. Upon entry outside the restaurant there was quite a mess on the sidewalk.(Garbage, Used dirty medical face masks, and more garbage) Beside the fact that this location is a less than desirable destination, the food is amazing. I visited Pho Saigon with two friends on Monday may 20th at around 4pm. The crowd was light and we were seated right away. With very limited Pho experience our waiter "Springfield" handled our questions with ease. He was very helpful and really seemed to enjoy what he was doing. The dish he recommended (Grilled beef Vermicelli) was the best dish at our table. We also ordered two grilled lemon chicken with vermicelli dishes that were amazing. Chicken was moist and the vermicelli provided excellent texture to the dish. All the Vermicelli dishes are portioned quite big. Our appetizer was the Spring rolls with shrimp chicken and vegetables that came with peanut dipping sauce. The rolls were a bit different but were great. The sauce had a little spice to it but nothing overbearing. If you are into Pho or not I recommend Pho Saigon.

Awesome place for authentic Vietnamese food! After coming from NYC, I was starving for something not too far from northern CT. It looks exactly like the Vietnamese restaurants in NYC (dark wood, dark green color, wooden art on walls). Was happy to also find young coconut drink there with the pieces of coconut in the drink. Also their coconut smoothie is awesome! And try out their bubble tea... yum! I haven't tried their pho yet, but am curious. The only thing I didn't like was that I ordered a shrimp dish and literally, there was ONE shrimp in the entire takeout. I hope that was an oversight! Also, I wasn't crazy about their spring rolls unfortunately. Like someone else said here, the contents were a bit dry and bland. The area around the restaurant isn't great, but don't let it put you off from going there. I like the place and people however.

I have to say this place is delicious! I have been here twice recently - The first time I came I had #43 Chicken & Lemon Grass ($9.95) which was Awesome! The second time I had a #28 Stir Fried Beef ($7.95) also delicious! In addition, the restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly & accommodating. I recommend checking out the detailed menu on their website - it tells you what's in each dish with the prices and very helpful for a newbie like myself. I plan broaden taste buds next time and try a bowl of pho. All in all I've had two great meals here for under $10 bucks and would recommend this place. Very Good!

This is an excellent pho place especially considering it's in such a small city. Very good pho, great service, Eggrolls!!! OMG they literally have the best egg rolls I've ever had and my husband and I are literally Vietnamese now, that's how much we love pho! We literally have it at least 2x week in southern cali where we currently live and are surrounded by options for good pho. If we are ever in western mass again to visit my family or who knows? If I ever move back to mass, i will definitely be a regular patron there! Good job pho saigon!

Great meal, as always. The menu varies between here and the nearby Bamboo House. Both serve great Vietnamese food at very reasonable prices. We go to both.

  • Joseph K.

They have the most perfect tasting broth in their phô. I was told there's no MSG. I also had other dishes and they were good. I think this place is good or better than most of Vietnam restaurants in Westminster in Southern California, which has biggest population out side of Viettnam. This place rocks.

  • Lou V.

Good enough Vietnamese restaurant. Plating is sloppy. Tables crowded. Service is good. Limited beverage options. Rest rooms dark and unclean (but not scary dirty). Two boring desert options. No full fresh fish with spine on menu. No mention of wild caught versus farmed seafood.

NOTE: TAKE MY REVIEW WITH A GRAIN OF SALT cause I'm pretty particular about vietnamese food. Maybe it's cause I grew up with my mom's vietnamese cooking. Or maybe it's cause I used to live near garden grove, CA aka "Little Saigon." BUT you know something's off when you enter an asian restaurant and you're the only asian customer there. Food was mediocre and a little bit pricer than other vietnamese restaurants I've been to.. SO the question that I'm sure people are wondering... "Which is better, Pho Saigon or Vinh Chau (right across the street)?" I still gotta try Vinh Chau before I make a final verdict so stay tuned for an update!

I cannot possibly let my previous 5-star review stand after the horrible dinner we had at Pho Saigon recently. We got our usual favorites...fried eggrolls and shrimp cakes to start...followed by a large bowl of mixed beef pho for my mom, spicy chicken lemongrass soup for me, and a lemongrass chicken stir fry for Ryan. I think the egg roll was the highlight. First, the shrimp cake had hardly any shrimp; it was mostly a tangle of very over-fried (read: dark brown/burnt) "cake" that turned to dust as we broke it looking for the ever-elusive seafood. I'm actually surprised they let it leave the kitchen in that state. Ryan's stir fry was presented as ginger rather than lemon grass, and it was beyond bland. He ate it because he was starving and the waiter took too long to come back and check on us, but he wasn't happy about it. My spicy lemongrass soup was overly salty, lacked its usual depth of flavor, and the chicken looked suspiciously like something from the deli (thin, uniform slices with perfectly rounded edges). It was ok, but there just wasn't a whole lot going on and I would not risk getting it here again. And the pho. My mother's pho was the biggest disappointment of the meal. The first thing she noticed was that there was nothing rare about the steak; it was all well-done. Next, she fished for the promised tendon but found only one small piece. And finally, the broth was so salty that she couldn't eat it. At all. She had two tastes to confirm, then we tasted it and agreed. Any beef flavor it may have had was overshadowed by salt, and it lacked the delicate richness that we usually love it for. While we waited (and waited and waited) for our server, we drained our water glasses. They were never re-filled. As I mentioned earlier, Ryan went ahead and ate his wrong dish, but my mother's was inedible. Finally, someone other than our server noticed my mother not eating and came to ask if everything was alright. She explained the issue with the soup, and this gentleman conferred with our server...who was very nice, but perhaps over-stretched with several large parties to attend to. In any event, my mother explained the problem with her pho and he took it to the kitchen. Our water glasses still sat empty. Every part of the meal was a disappointment. And the kicker? They charged her for the virtually untouched pho that she sent back! She pointed it out to the server thinking that it must be a mistake, but apparently they have a policy of not taking things off the bill that are sent back to the kitchen. He blamed it on the manager and promised that next time the food would be better. Yeah. We grabbed takeout from across the street for my mother. Usually when I give a bad review, I say that I'll gladly update if future visits warrant more stars...but honestly, this meal was so bad on so many levels that I'm not sure there will be a next time.

I'm in love with Pho Saigon! It is traditional Pho, which is hard to find in the North East. It's very inexpensive and the food is delicious and fast. Parking can be an issue, I remember people would get their cars towed when parked in lot across the street.

    (5)
  • Ryan M.

Better than Vihn Chau across the street. That's for food and atmosphere. Like almost all the Vietnamese joints in the area you'll park in a crappy neighborhood with crackheads all over the place but you'll feel wonderful after you fill up on Asian comfort food. Very good pho, spring rolls, Vietnamese iced coffee, pleasant inside with genuine rickshaw and vintage Vespa on display up front. I'm addicted to the spicy lemongrass soup with beef and have to get it every time. I also love the Bun Bo Nuong Lui which is beef wrapped around shards of onion then grilled and served over rice vermicelli noodles and greens. Amazing. Service is totally unpolished or I'd go five stars. They bring all the food out almost at once and you don't even have room on the table. But they remember you and are friendly, and they're authentic in every way so don't act surprised...just ask them to slow the pace and they will.

a huge fan of this place. been here multiple time now over the course of a few years and I love how it tastes like home. Great pho and great service! Prices are reasonable and comparable to most pho places in Boston Chinatown. Oh i am just drooling this about pho.

  • Liz R.

I started with the Fresh Spring Rolls, which come with a shrimp and chicken combination. They quickly agreed to my all shrimp request. Tasty rolls and peanut sauce. Next up, a small Pho Tai (of course). This was some seriously good pho, with flavorful broth I did not need to doctor. I smelled the sweet and savory spices more here than at any other place I've tried. All rare beef, which was perfectly sliced and so tender. I washed it all down with a Jackfruit slushie/shake, recommended by my waiter and loved by me. Refreshing. Decent sized restaurant. Busy the evening I was there. Friendly, fast service. Cheap - my whole meal was $15, including tip. Closed Wednesdays! Street parking.

Once again, I was filled with anticipation as I walked through this place, hoping that it would offer some of my favorite beef and tripe pho. However, I was sorely disappointed. The noodles were served lukewarm, overly salty and in tiny bowls (despite the "super size" cost). The fish casserole was also incredibly saturated with salt and MSG so much that even I could not bring myself to finish it. With all of my one-star restaurants, I always owe to the restaurants to come back and re-evaluate it. This was no exception for Pho Saigon, but alas, I was disappointed once again.

My quest for the greatest pho is over. This is it. No place near my native Hartford CT can compare. This is the perfect storm. It's clean! The condiments were all spotless. The atmosphere inside is nice, which was surprising for where it is. The tables weren't sticky or anything. The water didn't taste like pool water. Beautiful. It's even a little nicer inside in terms of decoration. The servers were super friendly and knowledgeable. Our waiter had just come back from spending time in Vietnam and even taught us a few things about the culture. He knew how long the restaurant had been there (decades) and briefly ran over the history of the place, even though he was a relatively new hire. The whole staff was on top of refilling waters, too. Helpful waitstaff is not common enough in places that serve pho. The pho was AWESOME! They didn't have tripe in their dac biet, but I don't really need any of that noise. They did have perfectly cooked tendon, though. It literally melted in my mouth. Best in class. Ask for extra tendon!!! The beef tasted extra beefy, too. Even the hoisin was better than every other pho joints sauce where I've eaten. No pickled chilli, but I can bring my own... it's that good. Oddly enough, I guess flan is also really big in Vietnam. The custard they make here is really light in the Vietnamese style and very heavy with vanilla. It's almost like whipped cake frosting. If you're coming from I-91 you'll have to do a weird u-turn to get there. You'll be on Sumner and the when the road divides you'll pass the street it's on. The next street you'll see will be Ventura, take a left onto that and then your next left and one more left and then you'll see a parking sign on your right. Park by the weird unity mural and the restaurant is two or three doors further down the street.

LOVE this place. Came in from Boston when my wife had a class, and we found it on Yelp, and had lunch here in a whim. I dreamed about it ever since. The highlight of my wife's graduation was that we got to come back! It's everything I remembered and more: great service and outstanding food. I wish there was a place like this around the corner from my home.

really like the vegetarian options here .. the veg section is bigger than most other vietnamese places we have visited and everything we have ordered has been great. the happy pancake definitely delivered happiness and the veg pho style soup has never let us down .. great stuff if you are up this way and looking for vietnamese, this would be the place to go.

A few nights ago, we decided to try Pho Saigon, so we drove to Springfield. On the evening we went, their A/C broke, but we decided to eat there anyway. I guess we get the full experience of what it might be like to eat in Vietnam with the heat and humidity! I ordered the grilled pork, shrimp, and egg roll vermicelli plate (@ $8.95) and my friend had the grilled pork and rice plate (@ $7.95). Both were very good, the meats were marinated well and very tasty. My shrimp was large and the egg roll was excellent and crispy, but not overcooked. I enjoyed my meal. While driving TO the restaurant from the 91 freeway, it seems like our GPS took us through a sketchy part of town, so if you drive through the same area, just be aware of your surroundings. I will definitely eat at Pho Saigon again. Xie Xie!!

Last April, my sister visited this restaurant and told me the food was delicious! She ordered the Bun Oc and Bun Bo Hue and loved it so much that she went back everyday for 5 days straight. Compared to the Vietnamese restaurants in Orange County, this place is just as good and very authentic. She highly recommends trying this place if you have a chance to visit.

Three of us from Los Angeles CA visited two high school friends at Springfield MA. We stopped one of the Vietnamese restaurant by reviewing at Yelp - Pho Saigon in Springfield for lunch before seeing our friends. We ordered shrimp on sugar cane ( Chao Tom ) the shrimp cake was so fresh and tasted so...GOOD. Grilled beef skewers ( Bo Nuong Lui) the beef was so tender and yummy , hot & spice lemongrass soup noodle ( Bun Bo Hue), even tasted better than little Saigon in Santa Ana, CA. All the foods we ordered were delicious, sadly they didn't have enough mints veggie (Rau Thom). I Couldn't believe that in a small town at East Coast there is a great restaurant where serves amazing Vietnamese foods with reasonable price, great customer services, nice atmosphere with beautiful decoration on the walls. The foods came out so fast and hot. Since the amazing foods we all came back the next day with other two friends to try the different dishes. They were awesome, we all enjoyed the good food, and plan to go back next year. I would highly recommend our friends who live at east coast should go there to try. A special note to owner of the restaurant, Thanks to Pho Saigon staff who served us good food with wonderful smiles. You guys gave me a plus to my vacation at East Coast this year. Hope to see you again there next year.

I am surprised to fine so many Vietnamese restaurants in this part of Springfield. So indeed I have great expectation for fill my crave for Pho. Like most Vietnamese place, Pho Saigon is clean and surprisingly stylish, completed with some serious window display. Anyway, it was bizarre that we were the only customers there the whole time and it was 1pm on weekend. It was certainly not a good sign. WE ordered a spring roll, summer roll and a bowl of house special Pho. We were both disturbed that the summer Pho was served really warm and felt fishy. We decided to just leave it there and not risk getting risk. However, the Pho I got was really good and then again, I have never had a bad bowl of Pho anywhere. It just seems to be a dish that is so consistent across the United States. The staff were courteous and really good with refilling the water and asking our feedback. My boyfriend decided to order a mango tea with tapioca. It was quite disturbing, it is very much like drinking the mango syrup that should be poured over the shaved ice. Never again!!

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in the Valley. :) I have tried a variety of their dishes (all amazing) but always go back to my favorite, the Spicy Lemongrass soup. I call this my "happy soup" since it just makes me feel really good. :) The portions are huge and the prices are fantastic. Pho Saigon also has some of the best customer service/wait staff. It's always a pleasure to dine in or take out. I have never had bad food or an poor experience here. Other dishes I love are the crispy vegetarian spring rolls and the vegetarian happy pancake...which is very appropriately named! :)

I oredered #8 and the caramel flan. They are all very good and up to generally accepted standards. Being out here in Springfield, it is probably as good as you can get. I wish the the "large" portion was more generous.

Quite delicious; bun rieu was a hit, more flavorful than the bun rieu I had at Xinh Xinh in Chinatown Boston. Texture of the soup was quite rich. The canh chua was also quite good; they put okra in there which was quite a nice surprise. Nice decor and interior. Nice ambiance.

Was back in Springfield again and wasn't sure what to eat -- not many culinary options in Western Mass besides fast-food chains. Decided on Pho Saigon and absolutely did not regret it! Had the lemongrass soup -- which may have been the best I've ever had -- and the fried egg rolls. Egg rolls were great too. My friend got the standard pho with a variety of beef cuts. The broth was exceptional compared to the Vietnamese restaurants in NYC, where the broth is often too salty, too bland, or has too much MSG. This broth was none of those things. Not too salty at all, you can tell the broth is mainly flavored with beef stock. We were served by Mark, who was attentive, friendly, and just a overall great guy! Definitely a must to stop by whenever I am in Springfield next.

I've always had very pleasant experiences here. The atmosphere is very nice and the decor is well done. The food is good and generally satisfying. However, I always find that I wish I'd gone to Vinh Chau across the street when I eat here. This place is the one that drew me to the street with both restaurants (and Bamboo House down the opposite way) because of its big sign and nice decor, however it is not as amazing as Vinh Chau.

Not my favorite Vietnamese restaraunt, but it's very very good! I love the happy pancake... Where else could you eat something called a happy pancake and its not breakfast food?

The service is friendly. The food is awesome, esp the broth in their soups! I love the shrimp and cabbage salad as well as the beef skewers!! Yum!!

My husband and I have been travelling around to all of the local pho restaurants in search of "that one." Most were so-so at best, with "odd" smells emanating from the kitchen of some to others just not having great customer service skills...I prefer water refills when I am slurping on mouth-scalding soup! That said, we ventured a little farther from home to find what has become our favorite pho restaurant. While the commute isn't that terribly long, it is on those exhausted evenings when I feel the least like driving that my spirit perks right up when I realize we are off to Pho Saigon. The service here is spectacular - they bring lots of cool water that actually tastes fresh (as opposed to some of the others where you feel like your drinking water from a garden hose). Aside from that, their seafood pho is to die for. They use chicken broth as the basis and actually add a little flare with crunchy onion bits. It adds just enough flavor to give it that little extra bit of ummphh that you are looking for. This is the only place I have seen that. I must admit, I do only get it with shrimp...not because the traditional style with various types of seafood isn't good, it is just that I am not quite that adventurous yet. I love shrimp, and for those shrimp lovers, they actually peal and clean the shrimp and leave just the very end of the tail to assist in the consumption should you choose to use your fingers! Enough said. I highly recommend either the passion fruit or mango bubble tea. You have to get the tapioca pearls - they cook them just right, although it does cost you an extra 50 cents, you will find it is well worth it. It is by far the best that I have ever had and since my husband and I are big fans of bubble tea, we try it whenever it is available on the menu. In closing, I work in a fast pace, high stress environment, so when I go out to dinner I prefer a comfortable and welcoming ambiance. I prefer to be able to hear myself think and talk to my husband without yelling, knowing that the establishment is clean, and that the service well always be consistent. Pho Saigon offers just that. They even clean the bottles of condiments left on the table after each use - there is nothing worse than those restaurants who are a-ok with leaving dirty bottles of hot sauce for other patrons to use. Overall, I always look forward to our regular visits, and it is always nice being greeted by the owner or his family when they recognize our repeat business with a welcoming smile.

This place is not what you would expect from six corners in Springfield however inside it is very pleasant and the staff is very welcoming. I had the fresh spring rolls which were delicious and the pho chicken lemongrass soup which I also enjoyed very much. The portions were hearty and they prices were good. I left the restaurant very satisfied with the experience. I will certainly be back.

I simply love this place. Service is always great - shout out to Mark! the food is always amazing. My favorites are the #1 - egg roll and the #19 - wonton soup. The ginger shrimp is also delicious. This is a little gem in Springfield.

Absolutely fantastic! one of the best eateries in Springfield! I am going to be dreaming of their delicous pho which sadly has no equal in my town so I will be driving over here quite often in the future. seriously delicious!

I have been to Pho Saigon roughly 5 times and each time really enjoyed the food. I love the chicken pho and fresh spring rolls! I had to take off one star because I feel the waiters/waitresses could be a tad more polite/talkative. But otherwise its a great, healthy and yummy place!

Tasty Vietnamese. Better than many in Los Angeles. What a pleasant surprise. I don't know why anyone would score this with 2 dollar signs. Most entrees are under $10.

This place is manned by the friendliest people in Springfield. The service was great, the food was pretty damn good, and the prices were reasonable. Veggie options got rave reviews from my party, too. This is probably the best Vietnamese food you're going to find in Western MA.

I recently went back to Pho Saigon and it was an immensely better experience. I tried something new though - the pho and it was delicious. It came with plenty of mint and bean sprouts, hardly need any additional seasoning (I pretty much always add hot sauce...but only add hoisin if the broth isn't good, which I didn't need to add). Much more pleased this time around, and would give this experience a 3.5

I've always loved this place, and hadn't been in years. It was where my wife and I went for our first date back in 2001, and since we had moved out of the area in 2003, we hadn't been back since, until this weekend, when we brought our 5-year-old daughter. It was just as good as we remembered it. The ambience was excellent, the service was great, and the food (two phos and a tofu/veggie stir-fry) was as delicious as always. Love it here!

This is one of our favorite restaurants. We decided to go out again today thanks to the extra money we have from K's fantasy football winnings. We looked for a local breakfast place but unfortunately they all seemed to be closed (I guess cause it's, well, New Year's Day). So we decided to come here instead. K started out with the pho soup with the well done pieces of beef in it. It was wonderfully savory, as expected. He also had the shrimp with mixed vegs. I tasted a bit of the vegs and they had a delightfully spicy kick to them. I thought the shrimp looked a lttle overcooked but K was happy with them. I had the chicken curry which seemed a little thick, but the flavor - like homemade cooking, asian version - more than made up for it. We left feeling very satisfied. Looking at the reviews that gave this place low ratings, I don't really get it. Yes, the area is a little sketchy, but so what? There's lots of businesses in this area so it's busy - chances of anything bad happening during the day - slim. I've had their spring rolls before and it's good, though personally I like the ones at the Bamboo House better. I think quality of food here is better and more authentic than Vinh Chan which is another Vietnamese restaurant across the street, but I would love it if Pho Saigon adopted their practice of putting the chopsticks in paper wrappers after they're cleaned so they're not touched by customers' hands as they pull them out to eat with. By the way I love their desserts here - they only have two - lemon mousse and flan. They come in small sizes which I think are just the perfect amount for dessert. They have good smoothie drinks here too - Kevin had the coconut one with blueberries today and liked it. They make this awesome cold chicken cabbage salad. Their pho soups are always wonderfully, perfectly tasty. I have yet to try their iced coffee but I will the next time I come here.

The Pho taste like instant noodles, lack real beefy taste. The owner is an Chinese Man, the food is no longer traditional. It is now considered Chinese Food. Food is not what I expected it to be, pretty horrible for a Vietnamese Restaurant. This is coming from a Vietnamese person. The service is very fast and swift. But the waitress doesn't speak or understand the Vietnamese culture. Vietnamese Restaurant owned and run by Chinese people, that don't understand a single fact about Vietnam, pretty much summed it up for you.

Ask practically anyone in the Greater Springfield area, old or young and they'll all say "Pho Saigon, I practically live there!" and if one hasn't been there, the surrounding group of people will respond with gasps of surprise followed by an immediate demand that the person go immediately. The food is excellent and mostly fresh. Every member of my family has a personal favorite which is ordered every time even though we make a pretense of looking through the menu . Personal favorites are the fresh spring rolls with chicken and shrimp, bun with grilled pork, lemongrass tofu and of course, the Pho. One complaint is that if you visit late, around 8 to 9, the usually excellent fried spring rolls are cooked in old oil and are a tad burnt. The service is that of a family running a restaurant. Both in good ways and bad. Depending on the time, certain waiters are slow and forget to serve water or tea in the beginning. However some waiters are excellent. One particular event I remember is on a day I had chosen to wear 3 inch heels while visiting, a waiter commented that, wow it had been a long time since I had visited because I must have grown like 5 inches! Food always comes rather quickly but sometimes some dishes come quite earlier than the others resulting in that awkward moment when you pick at your food in anticipation for the people around you to receive theirs because you wish to be polite regardless of your hunger. The ambiance is wonderful and it is usually a stop we take visiting relatives because even the most uppity persnickety food hating people will like the food because almost everything on the menu is delicious. The portions are large but one is not left feeling guilty for binging or the uncomfort of heartburn or overstuffedness after eating too much. It is also one of the only places you are guaranteed a seat on a Friday night. Another quirk is almost always you will see someone you know there, which may be awkward or not depending on who they are and who you are. All in all Pho Saigon is a stop every Greater Springfield resident must visit at least once.

We've been coming here for 15 years, since it was a slightly scary little hole in the wall next door. The food is always excellent. So fresh. Almost everything on the menu has been tried, but the highlights are the Sizzling Catfish and of course the Pho. And you feel well taken care of, like family. Try it, you'll love it.

BEST BEST BEST pho! and also Vietnamese iced coffee. The pho here is just insane. I can't describe the ecstasy that results. It's unlike any other pho I've had. Delicious! Comes in mammoth-sized portions. You get to add as much bean sprout, basil leave, and lime as you care for, since they're served in heaping piles on the side. There are several kinds of meats and meat combinations that you can choose from. All are excellent. Dipping the meat, which drops with delicious broth, into the hot sauces also served on the side, completes the explosive effect. YES! ALSO unlike any other Vietnamese iced coffee I've had (which has ALWAYS been disappointing after Pho Saigon), theirs is rich, sweet, and leaves no bitter aftertaste. I wish I could steal this restaurant and bring it back to Detroit. You are so lucky Western Massachusetts! And you better know it!

I met someone I have "known" through an online forum for years here this past Sunday, 18 July 2010. Most of the reviews were raves although there was one strong dissenter. I thought the dissenter was just a curmudgeon. After my meal there, I think the dissenter was right. Granted, the Vietnamese coffee with milk was excellent. It was very rich with an almost chocolate note to it. I ordered fresh spring rolls as an appetizer. Now, many reviewers of Waltham's Tom Can Cook have been quite harsh with that establishment. Although I know that I have had fresh spring rolls at other Vietnamese restaurants, Tom's spring rolls are the ones I remember. Tom's are largely made of veggies which are very crisp and fresh. The peanut sauce that accompanies them is rich and peanutty with touch of heat. The fresh spring rolls at Pho Saigon were small, tightly rolled and bland as one of the fillings was vermicelli. I would have preferred lettuce. The rolls themselves were so boring that I had no desire to finish them. The sauce was thin and flavorless with a dusting of ground peanuts. Perhaps, it could legitimately be called peanut sauce but I expect something more. i thought of having a bowl of Pho but the temperature was in the 90s. I selected two dishes, one a clay pot entree, the other a crispy noodle dish. The clay pot dishes were mentioned in several reviews. I asked our waiter, who was correctly attentive and friendly, which of the two dishes I should try and he steered me toward the crispy noodle with seafood entry. Again, it suffered but not just when compared to the Tom Can Cook rendition of crispy noodles. Although the serving was huge . . . enough to share . . . and was filled with bok choy and peppers as well as an adequate amount of seafood, the sauce was like glue and the noodles were far and away too crispy. Getting through that thick, corn starch laden sauce with unappealing gray color was too much for me. I would be willing to give the restaurant another try, on a cooler day, and have a bowl of Pho. I am not expecting a revelation. If the pho is edible, I will be happy.

It was the best Vietnamese ever. The service was superb, the restaurant is clean and the food is delicious. The #16 Lemongrass Pho and the Spring Rolls were wonderful and the Seafood Hot Pot was good (not great). I already look forward to coming back!

I had been wanting to go here for a while and I finally had a chance to visit. Overall I was pretty happy with the visit. The pho was amazing, if thats all I had I would have given them 5 stars. I could drink that broth all day, never mind the beef and vegetables. But we decided to pig out and order a bun too, and i found that less impressive. Everything was present and well cooked, but for some reason I just found it much less flavorful than buns I have had before. The comment from the waiter about how we were pigs probably didn't help their rating either. When I go back I am just ordering my pho and I will be happy.

OK, first off, I'm not Vietnamese. I've eaten tons of Vietnamese food, but all of it was in the US and most of it was in Chicago. So that being said, I can't honestly compare it with "authentic" Vietnamese food from, oh I don't know, Uong Bi. What I can say is that from the service (excellent), to the help in navigating the menu full of specials, to the quality of the food and price of dinner, drinks and desserts, I'm thoroughly impressed and will be back many many times. Now, again, I'm sure if you were born and raised in Vietnam, there might be differences in the dishes than what your childhood memories of your mother and grandmothers cooking was. But given the fact that this place is 8800 miles from Vietnam, they're quite excellent.

Here's what we ordered: Lemon Grass Pho with Chicken, Spring Rolls, Chicken Curry, and the Sizzling Fish. Our best dish was the sizzling fish. Everything was tasty, very fresh, and the portions were properly sized. We loved the fragrant hot tea. The service was prompt, polite, and sufficiently attentive, although our server was not terribly knowledgeable about what he was serving. The restaurant was clean. BTW, don't park in the lot across the street, they definitely tow. For what is and aspires to be this restaurant earns a solid 4 stars. We will definitely return

The service here is awesome. In particular, there is one young kid there who is so attentive without being intrusive to the meal. Cups were filled and extra plates were provided, without asking. And he was so gung-ho about asking, and then providing, service we requested. Usually I don't expect good service from pho restaurants, but this went beyond even higher end places. 25% tip for you. The food itself is nothing special. The pho is on the better end of average. Spring rolls, egg rolls, Vietnamese coffee, and scallion pancake were all fine. For the service, coupled with good food, I'll be back.

Thanks to the helpful reviews on this site, Pho Saigon has become a regular meet-up spot for my friend and I. I've been there about 5 times and have never been disappointed. My vegetarian friend is always satisfied with the veggie options as well. We often have to let the server know that we do not want to be rushed, as they tend to do that. In general, a great dining experience!

Really, really good. Spring rolls are good, although I should add they're a little unusual, there was some sort of extra protein, chicken or pork maybe in ours that seemed different from what you usually get. Portions are obscene. Really big. And the bowls are stuffed with meat and noodles, so there's plenty of broth but also tons of food floating around in the broth. Seemed stronger in the cinnamon department than other places I've visited. The room is very nice and the service is spot-on. If you're in the area this is definitely the place to come, and probably the best of the pho places I've tried if your main concern is eating a lot of food.

I've gone to this restaurant several times, mainly for Pho. The Pho I've had in the past has always been okay, but nothing like Pho I've had in other places, such as Vans in Albany NY. Last night, I was in the area with a friend, who wanted to go here. Even though I had other choices, it was his birthday, so I went along with it. I called ahead of time to make sure they were open (a lot of restaurants are closed Mondays) and the women who answered was VERY rude. She said yes and hung up. I decided to go with something different since I'm not a huge fan of the Pho. I go the pork & shrimp over vermicelli with spring roll. I was surprised to have it come out in like what seemed 5 minutes, My suspicion was correct. The vermicelli was so dry, I needed more fish sauce. The pork was dry, full of fatty edges and VERY SALTY!!! And on top of that, there was 1 ( ONE ) shrimp! I also had some fresh spring rolls, and they were okay, but the peanut sauce was VERY bland. Had to add hot sauce to give it some flavor. I have no doubts all this food was prepped way ahead of time and thrown together and probably nuked or heated up quickly in a wok. I should have complained, but I didn't. I wanted just to get out of there. The service was horrible as well. The waitress brought our meals about 10 minutes apart from one another and never asked how everything was. I had to get another waiter to get us the check. I'll never go back and suggest you never go.

I have nothing but good things to say. I needed to an extra credit project for my Southeast Asian history class of eating at a SEA Restaurant. I checked on Yelp first (of course) for anything in the New Haven area, and we were going to try Thai Awesome, but then we ended up at Pho Saigon in Springfield, MA. The egg rolls were phenomenal, better than at Chinese places. There were four of us and we all got different things and shared. All dishes were fresh and amazing. The Pho soup had layers of sophisticated flavors, and the pineapple shake was fresh and not at all sugary. My boyfriend got the sizzling catfish, which was rubbed with some kind of very spicy dry mixture, and really was sizzling on a cast iron plate!!. I had a beef with veggies in sauce on deep fried egg noodles, very good, a little sweeter than I would have liked, but not nearly as sweet as most Chinese dishes tend to be. My son had some kind of marinated, spicy pork, which was five alarm and very tasty. Boyfriend's daughter had an a beef dish, where the thin beef was wrapped around little onions, rice noodles and veggies, no sauce, but amazingly flavorful. I highly recommend! Even worth a trip, but don't use mapquest directions, they were wrong.

Moved to the neighborhood in Oct 2010 - and I've been a weekly visitor ever since. Everything I've tried on the menu has been great, service is friendly but not overbearing, prices are budget-friendly and they don't seem to mind me coming in by myself to sit there with my Kindle and a steaming bowl of pho. And PS to folks from out of town - Forest Park is NOT a sketchy neighborhood. Sure, there's a laundromat across the street. Get over it.

When I was a student, this was our Sunday afternoon hang-over meal. Extra large pho with everything, spring/summer rolls, and iced coffee to finish it off was a pretty hard combination to beat. Too bad they couldn't have opened a branch up in Amherst/Northampton so that it wouldn't have been so far of a drive, but the expectation on the drive down just made the food that much better. Better than anything you can get in Boston, although I have heard from my Vietnamese friend that Worcester also has good restaurants.

I don't know much about Pho, but my brother and his friends are Obsessed with this place. The menu isn't huge, and there aren't a lot of vegetarian options, but the soup is pretty authentic as far as I could tell. It's in a pretty sketchy part of town, but hey - sometimes the best food can be found in the shadiest areas, so if you're feeling bold, go check it out.

Best Vietnamese restaurant i've ever been to. The Pho Lemongrass is outstanding, as well as their house specialties. Service is great and i've yet to have a bad experience eating here. Pho Saigon is by far one of the best restaurants for quality, atmosphere, and price. The food is always presented and prepared to perfection. The restaurant has a nice, intimate atmosphere. The Pho soup is so good. You cannot beat the quality of the food and the price, anywhere.

One of the best restaurants in Springfield. I have come here time and time again and the food is always great. It is not only one of the best restaurants in the area but it is also the best Vietnamese place I've ever been to. The fried springs rolls there are probably the best I have ever had and the Pho is just as good. Even their chicken curry is spot on. Oh and don't forget their delicious ice coffee! A must order every time I go. If your in this area, and your looking for a cheap "great" meal, go here!

This was a surprisingly good vietnamese restaurant - small and very clean. We had lunch there on a weekday at an off hour. Summer rolls were excellent, the bee bong had the best pork I have ever had at a vietnamese restaurant, and the beef pho was good. My only complaint is that the size of the pho serving was relatively small, especially compared to the excellent Apsara Palace in Fall River, MA. Not too much beef, but the broth had a great deep flavor. The icy cold sapporo beers, served in chilled glasses, didn't hurt the experience.

After reading all these great reviews, I figured I would try this place. It turned out to be very unauthentic and not very good. The spring roll wrapping had the texture of pita bread and the sizzling catfish was just awful. It was burned and very dry with unpleasant spices. I was very disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant.

This place may make the best bowl of pho I've ever had, and I've eaten a lot, from Boston to Philadelphia to Seattle. They have a rich, clean broth & fresh noodles. The portions are almost too much. Almost. Parking stinks. And it's hard to get to if you don't know the area. Definately worth finding though. Next time you're in Springfield go check them out. Next time.

I absolutely love pho and have enjoyed it many times all over New England....Chinatown in Boston, Everett, Chelmsford, and West Hartford, CT. Today I was so looking forward to lunch at Pho Saigon. Was I disappointed! I ordered pho with seafood. The menu description is soup with shrimp, calamari, crab, & fish balls. To be honest, the soup base was delicious. But, what I ended up with was soup and noodles with a tiny bit of seafood: one shrimp, 2 slices of fish balls, and two small pieces of "faux" crab and calamari. I couldn't believe how skimpy the seafood portion was. When i complained to the waiter he told me that seafood is very expensive. I understand shrimp is pricey, but the "faux crab and calamari is not. If they can't give a reasonable portion of seafood in their seafood soup they should take it off the menu. What a bunch of tight squid sqeezers!!

Here's how I feel about Pho Saigon in a nutshell. Not being an expert on Vietnamese food, I can't compare it to other places. I can say that every time I have eaten here I have been thoroughly pleased. The fried shrimp cakes appetizer is amazing.

  • J R.

Good but a bit cheap with the garnishes unless you ask for more. The place across teh street is more authentic and you don't have to beg for the correct portions of items to add to your pho. The decor is better at Pho Saigon but the place across the street is more authentic and seems to be where more Vietnamese people eat. Il go back to Pho SAigon though - when the other place is closed. PLace across street seems a bit lower priced too.

This is Pho by which all future Pho experiences will be measured. It really is that good. Very unexpectedly superb experience on a random street in Springfield. Huge steaming bowls of Pho, and when I asked for 5 star on the heat, they actually gave it to me. Spring rolls were perfect. Go hungry, the portions are enormous. I will return again and again when I am anywhere even reasonably close to Springfield.

Amazing food, great service, pretty dining room, reasonable prices. On each visit, I try a different dish, and haven't found one I didn't love. Summer rolls with shrimp and chicken are excellent, and my companions rave about the fried egg rolls. Rice noodles with pork meatballs were a winner with my son, and the happy pancake made everyone happy. As for me - I've developed a full-on obsession with the lemongrass soup with chicken. I dream about this stuff!

My friend took me here after picking me up from the Amtrak station. We drove around for a while until she found it, seemingly by intuition (she lives in Northampton, and doesn't really know Springfield so well). Or maybe she was following her nose, led by the fragrant and delicious broth for the pho... I ordered combination beef pho, and she had the bun with pork. We split an order of imperial rolls and each had some Viet coffee as well. Everything was delicious! I am often wary of Asian food in New England, being from San Francisco--not trying to be snotty, just speaking from experience (crab rangoon, anyone???). But Pho Saigon allayed my fears and soothed my belly. Yummy yummy.

I was very pleased with my weekday lunch at Pho Saigon. The place was clean and stylish, the waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive, and the food arrived quickly. All of that would not matter, of course, if the food had not been any good. Fortunately, it was great. I had only the pork spring rolls and a large bowl of rare steak pho, but each was delicious. The pho broth was both rich and light and was well-stocked with noodles, sliced steak and green onions. The spring rolls were fresh and delicious. Overall, a tremendously pleasant lunch experience. I can't wait to try dinner.

Absolutely delicious - the service is out of this world. I had the lemongrass-chicken pho and the spring rolls with some Vietnamese beer. I couldn't have been happier. The food just made me FEEL good. I would definitely stop here again. I live in CT and the ride is worth it!

They have the most perfect tasting broth in their phô. I was told there's no MSG. I also had other dishes and they were good. I think this place is good or better than most of Vietnam restaurants in Westminster in Southern California, which has biggest population out side of Viettnam. This place rocks.
