After a night of celebrating some school successes, my little sister and I decided that pizza would be the only thing to really hit the spot. A friend of mine orders from Family all the time and I knew I wanted to order the same big 'ole pizza she always gets. It seemed too large to be "just a large", so when I placed the order I requested, "whatever size that giant pizza is". To my astonishment, they make a "party pizza" that is likely about 3 feet x 2 feet of absolute scrumptiousness. However, it is impossibly huge!! Apparently their large pizza is in fact NOT the biggest pizza they make. But, who can complain about a pizza that's too big?! Especially at this place!! This is definitely the best pizza in the area and I've tried all of the other popular ones. The prices are also super reasonable for the quality ingredients they use. The crust is buttery and crispy. It's insanely good.

Heavy Bias, But Genuinely Delicious! A True FAMILY Restaurant! Let me start off by saying that I worked at Family Pizzeria for about two and a half years while in high school. I still go back there whenever I'm visiting my parents and get a craving for pizza in Springfield. I know from experience that the key to a great pizza is the dough, and the sauce. The great thing about the pizza at Family is that the crust is crunchy. It's just thick enough to not give way when piled high with toppings. Not too thick, not too thin. They use a stone bottom oven that toasts it up nicely, and take great care in making sure the pizza cooks to perfection, and without any giant bubbles or areas that are missing cheese. The old location on Dickinson St. across from the fire station was one of my childhood favorites, even before I landed a job there. The location has changed, but the quality and friendly atmosphere is exactly the same! 5 stars all the way!

Very hospitable. I live in Omaha, NE. I was home to take care of my father. I needed a place to go at the end of the day to relax and get some healthy food. I ate Chicken Tortellini soup with bread for dinner for nearly two weeks. I would have a nice glass of wine and watch a little TV while sitting at the bar. The other customers were ver nice, everyone was friendly. Thanks to Family Pizza for welcoming me home and taking such good care of me. I have been a fan of Family Pizza since I was a little girl, I am now 48! The pizza is still great after all these years!

Honestly, the best family Italian resteraunt in Spfld! The hosts, Yolanda, Ralfie and Jerry are welcoming, sincere and do one hell of a job making u feel at home. Veal Saltimboca is the best ever! The veal Marsala is to die for and if there's something not on their menu, just ask and you'll get it. Awesome spot!

Sausage and Pepperoni good pie. Had the veal too all good. My son and I were staying at a local hotel and wanted food to go. Kind of disappointed when I asked for some paper plates and a plastic fork and knife the gal just said "no". How about a little love for your out of town guests!

Family Pizza is a fairly typical independent Italian restaurant but they do a better job of it than most. The menu includes the usual pizza, grinders (subs) and dinners. They recently moved to a newly renovated building after many years in the neighborhood. The new restaurant is MUCH nicer than most pizza shops with brick walls, comfortable furniture, good lighting. The pizza is very good to excellent. They have the usual Italian American dinners, eggplant rollatini and pasta bolognese are favorites of ours. They have a somewhat limited selection of beer and wine. I'd like to see more micro-brews and some better wines. Family pizza is a good name, not just because they are family owned but because they are a suitable destination if you are bringing kids.

I was a little disappointed, based on the other reviews my expectations were high. From the outside the restaurant is typical of similar shops in Springfield which is to say that none of them really grab your attention and the inside will likely surprise you either in a good or bad way. The inside here is actually very nice, clean, and modern looking. The place was relatively busy and the wait staff was friendly. The fried motzarella that they make on site was very very good, I would give that 5 stars compared to the typical frozen sticks that similar pizza shops serve. What disappointed me was the pizza. The crust was just ok, the sauce didn't really have any taste and the cheese was overwhelming. Appears they must put slices of cheese on instead of shredded. All I could taste was the cheese and it didn't separate between slices which made it difficult to serve and eat. I might go back to try a grinder but probably wouldn't get the pizza again.

The pizza is likely the best in town, good place, friendly staff, on par if not better than red rose ( I actually prefer it here)

Springfield Pizza at it's best!!! If you're not sure what I mean by Springfield Pizza - you are missing out in life. Springfield Pizza is questioned by many as the best pizza in the land, that is until they try some. Family Pizza has finally reopened and relocated (small fire in the basement of their old location). The new spot on Sumner Ave is perfect for this Pizzeria and Italian restaurant. I also recommend the Chicken, Ziti, & Brocolli, other italian meals and of course their grinders.

Awesome everything! The staff is very nice and the service is better than any chain restaurant you will go to. I'd give it more stars if I could

They have an awesome white pizza that has won our hearts. Great garlic, herb topping and good cheese make this pizza fantastic (we like it with spinach and roasted red peppers). We love their crust, it's the best out of the half dozen local places we have tried, including Red Rose! Since the crust is so good, the calzone is great too. At some point we'll have to try the regular pizza but it is hard to order anything but the white pizza since it is sooooo good!

This is a very solid Italian American restaurant that does many things extremely well. Their pizza is way above the average as are the classic Italian American dishes such as Meat Balls and Spaghetti, White clam sauce and linguine and so forth. Their red sauce is extremely good using a little trick I often do at home when I'm making my red saucesauce. I would tell you what it is but that would spoil the fun of discovering it on your own, so stop in and check it out and see if you don't agree, whether this little place should not always be on your short list when you crave Italian.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
