We went to the Midwest Grill on Sunday expecting to have to wait. Not a problem apparently enough people have been there to see how bad it was. Although the meal was only $17.00 our bill for six was just about $200.00 We had no alcoholic beverages and only three deserts. Apparently the soda drinks and coffee were VERY expensive. The meal in itself was only so-so. The waitstaff about the same. Meats were limited and not very flavor full. Of course the automatic tip @ 23% didn't help the total. We have been to other Brazilian BBQ restaurants and have always enjoyed them. This was a big disappointment.Apparently you can't give less than one star would have liked to do that

They should shut the place down. Horrible service and food.

The food was impressice 1bit of food I was in Heaven. & the server got it easy w/ us because the service is very good too. I like the boy who brings over the meat Gabriel(same name as my son) was very nice! I like their juice & beer varieties, buffet & salads are delicious! Their knives don't really cut well! Lol

If I could zero stars, I would because that's the exact type of service we got. I came with a party of six, all Brazilian, so we KNOWWW our churrasco. The men in the group were joking about how much they would eat and all. They started serving a nice looking piece of sirloin; next, pork, then chicken with bacon. But those were the only types of meat we saw. The server guys passed by 3 more times, and each time the men in our party asked for picanha. Did we ever get picanha? Not even a trace. Someone asked for coke and the server only showed up with it 20 mins later. After the first 30 mins they completely stopped serving not only our tables but the other tables that came shortly after us. The man sitting at the table behind us actually had to go into the kitchen to complain that he wasn't being served. Needless to say, the service was an absolute horror, and I'm pretty forgiving in these things. Like the guy in our party almost yelled at the server, this was the first and last time we would be there. If you are hungry, don't waste your time and money because dinner is $20+ per person and completely not worth it. Sucks.

I'm no stranger to churrasco or churrascarias. I love Brazilian food. My best friend wanted to come here and I was like yeah let's go!! I've been to the one in Cambridge so I was more than happy to accompany my friend because she was missing her momma. She's Brazilian so she wanted some home cooked food. And she got a groupon. Score! Salad bar was good. Rice and veggies were yummy. The meat was good too, except I snagged a piece of medium rare beef and got horribly sick afterwards. Needless to say, no medium rare anything for me in the future. Service was good, and the meat server came around quite a bit contrary to other reviews below. We both also ordered caipirinhas, which was a nice ending to the week.

Not a real Brazilian BBQ! Some thing else that the owner wants to call as a Brazilian BBQ. Too expensive for what they offer. They try to cheat you all the time offering a piece of meat that they call "Picanha" but that is a big piece of cheap meat with a little piece of "Picanha".

Food was good when it came... Had green card up for our almost 2 hour lunch... Server stopped about 4 times with meat... Over priced and under served... Then they add gratuity into the bill... Probably a good thing cause I would have left nothing... I will not be returning to this place... I DO NOT recommend anyone dining here other than INS... To check for green cards and visas...

Last July of 2014 we had a large group and went here for dinner and the food was good back then. We visit my parents every year and made arrangements to return. We went on a Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and there were only 10 people dining in the entire huge restaurant. That is usually a BAD sign and I wondered what was going on. A few items on the hot table were okay, but all of the meat was HORRIBLE. You needed to have the jaws of a gator to tear and tenderize the steak tips. Until now, I didn't know you could ever overcook chicken! The only thing good to come around on a skewer was the grilled pineapple, but then again, how on earth could you screw that up? I have to concur with Stephen L. from Boston as everything he said was true: "Every item served at this restaurant appears to have been prepared and preserved eons ago, some time in the early Neolithic Era. I considered contacting the Massachusetts Archaeological Society to present my find of the mummified, dry remains of a prehistoric chicken. It even tasted of formaldehyde. I considered calling the Poison Control Board to let them know about this as well as the near-lethal amounts of salt on everything. There is a reason this place charges for drink refills - you will need them lest you find you yourself salted, dried and processed into jerky." I have NEVER heard of a restaurant charging for refills on drinks?!?!?! SHOCKED to say the least!!! I love the concept of this restaurant, but If the restaurant owner reads these reviews and doesn't do something about it to turn this restaurant around, it is surely to close very soon.

All you can eat Brazilian BBQ without the high price tag of Fogo de Chao? Upon hearing this, I prepared myself as is de rigueur for these types of establishments by starving myself a day beforehand. Unfortunately, I was unprepared for what a culinary horror show this place turned out to be. Every item served at this restaurant appears to have been prepared and preserved eons ago, some time in the early Neolithic Era. I considered contacting the Massachusetts Archaeological Society to present my find of the mummified, dry remains of a prehistoric chicken. It even tasted of formaldehyde. I considered calling the Poison Control Board to let them know about this as well as the near-lethal amounts of salt on everything. There is a reason this place charges for drink refills - you will need them lest you find you yourself salted, dried and processed into jerky. I will say the service was attentive, but it is not difficult to give a customer your full attention when literally every table in the restaurant is empty.

I came here with a friend because he had a coupon. This place actually was better than I thought. I usually pass by this place on the highway and didn't think it would be good. The only complaint I had was that the waiter didn't come around fast enough. The other brazilian place have more waiters moving quickly. The food and buffet bar was full of good choices.

Being a Brazilian native I was very excited about trying food from the "old" country. I do have to admit that this place was a true disappointment in every way possible. From the dried jerky meat (grilled chicken) to the service which was extremely slow and the flan which was one of the worst I've had in years. Wow...

Went here at 3pm for the lunch buffet, which is $15.99 compared to dinner which is $21.99 for the same thing. Walked in and was greeted by the bartender, Angela, and we sat by the bar to have easier access to drinks. You can walk up, grab a plate, and there is an entire cold side with fruits, salad, vegetables, pasta salad, pickles, etc. lined with fresh pineapples. On the other side is the hot side, with meat, pasta, rice, bread, and other delicious options. Then once you sit at the table, the waiter comes out about every 5-10 minutes with a new meat option (Pork ribs, lamb, steak, chicken hearts, chicken wrapped in bacon... can't tell you what else because I didn't make it past the 3rd round). Angela was an amazing bartender. She was very attentive, and we had great conversation while she made the most delicious Greatful Dead's I've ever had. They don't have razzmatazz, so she substituted for another similar liquor, and added pineapple juice per my request. When I asked for a cherry, she provided 4 which I'm obsessed with. The drinks were so strong, I only had two and I was very satisfied with my intoxication. I'll definitely be back. I love Brazilian BBQ's but this place takes the cake. They also offer dessert which I was unable to take advantage of.

Ordered the BBQ. Every single piece of steak and chicken was tough to cut and chew. Seemed to me that the meat was old, tough and dry and probably put on the rotisserie a million times for I don't know how many days. My mother ordered the Special Fish Stew and even the fish was tough and gummy. Salad bar was good. Server was very nice. Our favorite part of this restaurant was the decor and the caipirinha's - a Brazilian rum drink they serve with LED neon green ice cubes. Definitely will find another Brazilian restaurant though.

The Midwest grill has a great concept, an all you can eat hot and cold buffet with endless meats arriving at your table.. Unfortunately, the food is BAD.. The meat is dry and for the most part tough to chew, the cold buffet had this potato salad type thing that looked more like vomit than it did potato salad.. Oh and no free refills? That is ridiculous:. 22$ for a buffet you'd think they'd give you a free refill.. I won't be back

  • Kelly S.

The food is bad and the service is worse... The meat was so flavorless we had to use A1. There was maybe 12 people in the restaurant and 3 waiters. You would think that every time we needed a refill on drinks we would not have to get up and track down one if them. And don't bother just asking as they come by your table...they'll just forget. As someone that travels the world I eat at a lot of restaurants. This place has some if the worst service. And it's not that they're rude, they just forget you are there.

  • Shelly A.

I really wish this place was better because it's in a prime location but unfortunately it is not. For starters the food at the buffet is pretty much all cold items; they are lacking in flavor as well as life (who knows how long they were out all day) and the meat.. ehh when you've been somewhere better you really see the shortcomings of places that claim to be something that you're hankering for. Also, the staff.. were they the best? no but my thought as to why would have to be that they are understaffed and underpaid, who wouldn't be cranky about that? In summation, this place is overpriced, if you're going to half ass Brazilian BBQ you can't charge as much as places that are a million times better.

I don't usually write reviews but I need to warn you...... Diner Beware!!! It has to be the worst restaurant I have ever been to. The table was dirty. The various meats were either under cooked (raw) or dry as shoe leather. Everything was very salty. We could not even swallow the food without water. We were there 15 minutes before the waitress came over. She brought us all one drink each then never saw her again until we got the check. They have waiters come around to serve you various meats. They ran out of tongs for you to take the meat off the skewers as the server was carving it for you so they had the customers use their own used forks to take the meat off. The four of us hardly ate anything. We were charged about 21.95 per person and most of the food was thrown away.

This place is great! Went for my first time today and the variety at the cold bar was phenomenal. The waiters came over to the table with all various types of meats, when we chose the option of Rodizio buffet, 14.95$ each. Very friendly, and conveniently located next to the highway. Would love to go hear again, when next in town!

Probably one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. As other Yelpers have previously commented, the service is subpar to nonexistent. The restaurant wasn't slow but it wasn't busy either. I had to walk to the bar every time that myself or my date wanted a drink. Being that I have been to other Brazilian steak houses before as a point of reference for comparison, this place doesn't come close to Fogo de Chao or Tejas de Brazil. The meat was not good, and the salad bar was akin to something like Lubys or Golden Corral. I would absolutely never recommend this restaurant unless they improve their service and quality of meat and more variety at the salad bar.

Terrible!! We finally decided to try this place since we had a Groupon. We knew it was pricey but seemed worth it for the amount of food offered. We were very wrong! The beef was okay and the kielbasa was good (of course I could've just made that at home!). The rest of the meats were all VERY dry. Such a disappointment! Needless to say, we will not be returning.

Literally. The worst dine in experience we ever had in Massachusetts! We went for lunch, and after being seated, we had to wait more than 10-15 minutes in between each serving of the meats, even tho the restaurant had only two tables occupied. The waiter was was the most rude waiter in the universe! When I asked to see the manager (who then refused to talk to us!), the waiter said that the manager is the owner, and that I should ask the manager to fire him! I will never go back there. I am sorry I did not believe the other one star ratings that this place have accomplish to get.

Poor customer service, went there on a Saturday night last week, very few wait staff , inexperienced staff, quality of food just okay, paid 21 for all you can eat , including meat , the "Meat man" never came by , just had to keep asking . They charge for refills of soda! , Dirty restroom beware. No host , can sit your self or wait very disorgainized. I would not return , only positive was they have live music on this night , which was okay. Need better leaders and trained staff

Ok so I read all of the reviews prior but I still wanted to take the guys anyway. So heres the REAL DEAL. The "Salad Bar - Hot Bar" was terrible! The cheese tasted like olives and you could tell it was bad! When the food came along it was about 4,928 degrees! The chicken wrapped in bacon was the only thing that was half way decent. The steak was awful and I didnt even attempt to try the pork (pork is supposed to be white not brown and grey). The garlic bread was pretty good as everyone else has said, as well as the pinapple. The place was pretty dirty and the waitstaff was not very fast. Over all if you have a choice in brazilian steak houses chose a different one, I would be surprised if this place stays open another year! LOOK AT THE PIC I POSTED - These are the tongs I recieved to grab the meat.... Obviously not cleaned in some time. All the other pics posted MUST have been staged because NOTHING looked that way in the place, not even close!

We went tonight with my husband and our 20 month old son. After reading the reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a little weird. We waited a few minutes to be seated. And it wasn't crazy busy, but it had enough people. We got our drinks as we were returning from the hot/cold bar. Great options and amaaaaaaazing meat. The waiters were super nice and the meat was non stop. We had to refuse more meat. It was all tender and well flavored. The seem to want to keep feeding you. Non stop. Once we finally said we were totally done, they brought the check quickly. Which was nice. And there was a live singer/guitar player. It wasn't too loud, just nice. He let our son strum the guitar, which was cool. It is super warm in there, FYI But we will return!!!

Went to the Saugus location for Father's Day, since my Dad like the Cambridge location. Saugus had horrible service and food quality. Loud music. The musician told me to leave a tip putting his tip basket in my chest. The manager would not come to the table to speak with us. The management of both locations did not return my calls. I will ill not go back.

I came here for dinner with my husband and a guy who passed by told us to sit anywhere we wanted. The restaurant was almost empty, only two other tables were occupied. After waiting for 15 minutes a guy came and gave us the menus and told us that our waiter was going to be with us shortly. While we looked at the menu we noticed nobody was serving food. The other 2 couples there, were waiting. Another 15 minutes passed by and nobody came to even take our drinks order. We decided to leave and go to the another restaurant. This place has terrible service. I don't understand how they are still open. Don't even bother.

This way my first time here and I have to say, I had a great time and will definitely be back! I often get into those moods, maybe from covering a lot of diverse events in the Boston and surrounding areas, to try new things...and cuisine is definitely one of them. One part of me loves to cook, the other part loves to eat! The only think I never liked was the clean-up...lol. Anyway, we decided to try this place because we saw that The Phantom Gourmet had visited and recommended it...plus the fact that we love restaurants that serve different varieties of meat! I was very first impressed with the friendliness of the staff. We were seated in a great section where we could see everything. All of our questions, of which there were many, were answered with a smile, and our server made some great suggestions [The Brazilian ginger ale is very good]. We both settled on the BBQ Buffet, and were informed to go to the buffet bar and get whatever we wished for sides and salad...and that the meat would be brought over on skewers and sliced for us at our table. Right there, that is something you seldom see at restaurants outside of the city. What also made this practice a treat is that the servers who skewer the meat for you were both friendly and informative, and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. I made it a point to try everything! Some may be put off by trying the chicken hearts and the sausages might come off as a bit heavy. but they still added to the uniqueness. It is the ribs and the steak that are the winners here. The ribs were flavorful and the steak, while also flavorful, was so tender and juicy, that I ended up eating more than my fair share of portions...lol. I also recommend the grilled pineapple with cinnamon...it might be a bit sweet to some, but it is that sweetness that makes it such a compliment to the onslaught of meats that will be offered to you. At the very least, it makes for a very sweet treat to enjoy after the meal to help with digestion. I was also informed that this establishment has live entertainment every Friday and Saturday evening, with no cover charge. How cool is that? For the price and portions, you cannot go wrong with choosing this place to dine...and I will most definitely be back again SOON!

It seems like lately we have been trying a lot of Brazilian restaurants.. The food was neither good nor bad. It's all you can eat priced for $12.95/pers lunch and $16.95/pers dinner. Even though it's so cheap our bill came to $62 (without tip) because of: 2 desserts, 1 beer and 1 tea. Anyway, not my favourite restauarnt. When the server brought the dessert samples to the table one of the plates was dirty. Our server Anderson, was nice and he kept checking on us a few times. The restaurant requires a little bit more attention to detail. Overall, the food wasn't bad for $16.95/person.

Went here for lunch while living on the north shore. Really enjoyed the lunch deal that came with the lunch buffet and a grilled steak or chicken. Fresh and flavorful buffet items, reasonable prices, and friendly staff, lead to give it 4 stars.

My date and I had a Phantom Gourmet gift card so we decided to use it at the Midwest Grill. I have always been a fan of rodizio so I was eager to try...We were severely disappointed. Upon entering, the decor was nice and there was a live band playing, which was nice. However, the hostess who sat us seemed confused as to where we would be seating. She took our drink orders and although I ordered a sangria...you would hardly know it because it was served in a very, VERY small port glass. Two sips and it was gone, as well as the $9 I paid for it. The hostess instructed us to go to the buffet which was all AMERICAN food...cold french fries and chicken fingers. I'm paying over $20? FOR THIS? After eating two bites and asking for the check, the waitress (who said she was not really our waitress even though she waited on us more than our ACTUAL server) came over with the dessert tray any way even though we said we were not interested. They then sat around talking in the back corner, hanging out while we waited for our check. I'm a server myself, and never rude to fellow in the industry...so I ate my feelings on that one. OVERALL - although the meat for the rodizio was "okay" I have to say I disliked my experience terribly. We wasted our money. We will not be returning. But, if you would like an American-ized buffet with a "slight" Brazilian flare, this is the place for you!

We went around 2 in the afternoon and stood at the front waiting to be seated.when that didn't happen we just sat ourselves. There was only 1 other table with people. After about 10 minutes a waiter showed up to ask about drinks. We got the buffet it was ok. They came to the table a few times with different meats again just ok. I could've used a refill but that never happened. When we were through we waited for someone to bring us a bill after a while we got up looking for someone to pay. Finally we found the waiter. I had a groupon which I was told I couldn't use because it was still "lunch"not dinner but if I wanted to pay the dinner prices they'd do it. I also was charged a full lunch price for the 7 pieces of macaroni I gave my 5 year old daughter. The food was mediocre at best and just about the worst service ever!! Needless to say we will not be back

I spotted this restaurant while driving northbound on Route 1 on a summer Friday at noon. Upon entering, I was surprised to see that only two tables were occupied with patrons out of dozens in the main dining section. Oh-oh. I decided to brave it anyway and try the $11.95 lunch buffet without the rodizio. (An aside: Although they gently encouraged me to try the rodizio, I decided to skip it because I vaguely remembered that I hadn't been impressed by the rodizio at their Cambridge location. Aside from the visual appeal of the meat being served from giant skewers, the taste was just mediocre). Simply put, the food was awful. The selection consisted of a lettuce-based salad on one side of the buffet bar, while the other side consisted of greasy refried leftovers, a stew, and starches (cassava, plantains, rice). For the price, I would have expected the quality and selection of the food to be much higher. There is no reason for me to recommend that anyone come here for the food at the buffet.

  • Mark A.

Wow, all of the recent reviews have been 1 star... I've been going to this place (or the one in Cambridge) for years, and it saddens me to see such harsh reviews, but I can understand why. Price - Yes, this place is a little expensive, if you don't go in with a hearty appetite. It's an all you can eat meat buffet, which won't appeal to everyone. There are coupons/groupons out there that can help curb the cost a bit. I would say that their prices are on par with every other Brazilian BBQ I've been to in the area. Drinks - No free refills on drinks... really? That's a staple of modern restaurants. Quality - I tend not to waste my time at the salad bar, so can't really speak to that. The quality of the meat is average. My wife likes her meat more well-done, and they had cuts for her, where most places I've been only have medium-rare. Highlight - The grilled pineapple with cinnamon is the icing on the (proverbial) cake. I think we each had like 5 pieces. The garlic bread is also quite tasty.

Had a Groupon in hand so decided to take my wife and parents. Not a bad experience. Given the Holidays right around the corner, they had a live duo - guitar and sax - which was playing super loud on the speakers. I get the idea of the restaurant, and being that everything is one giant buffet, you want a festive, lively atmosphere. But, the super loud music made conversing with my party difficult at best. The salad bar was great. Lots of fresh vegetables, and the other sides were plentiful and tasty. Service wasn't bad. The guachos were always running around and our waitress/the host would come by every so often and ask if there was anything in particular that we wanted. The meats were tasty, flavorful, and they were all cooked in a way to make everyone happy.

I went there at night 8:30, all meat was cold and dry, bread was so hard that it can break your teeth, I was expecting something better for the price that they charge you at night, we (two people) and up with $62 bill 2 drinks and buffet, I will never come back again for sure.

  • Lisandra B.

I went for lunch, and service was ok, food was ok, we order the rodizio, i didnt like much the quality of the meats, they didnt taste fresh out of the grill, was a lot overcooked it seems it was re heated. Not planning to go back

  • Damien M.

Wow, what an awful night. WAY TOO LOUD!!! That was what my whole night was like, having the caps lock button stuck on. They had some super cheesy sax and keyboard duo on full blast, and I literally couldn't hear the people at the same table over the awful music. Sound like a good time? The food was mediocre at best... a lot of it was very dry and over cooked. We did have a great waitresses, but really, don't go unless you have a hearing problem and you love elevator music more than your family or friends.

I wanted so badly to love this place, but I was very disappointed. I love trying out new restaurants, so when a Groupon came out for this place we got one. I was very excited to try it as I pass by it all the time on Route 1. When we first walked in there was a waiter who came over and sat us. He ended up being our waiter for the night. He told us about the buffet and about how they come around with skewers of meat and chicken to try. He was very friendly, nice, accommodating and checked on us a good amount. So there are two sides to the buffet, one is cold (salad stuff, pasta salad, mozzarella, etc.) The other is hot with plaintains, rice, pasta dishes, beef stew, chicken wings. Not sure if this changes daily or not. The wings on the buffet were yummy, but I only tried one, was trying to try a little bit of everything. I regret not getting more. There were two men bringing around the meat/chicken skewers while we were there, although we usually got the same guy each time. He seemed a little irked with us that we didn't know what to do with the little sets of tongs at our table, they are to help him peel off the meat as he slices it. So the first thing we tried was the bacon wrapped chicken. It was pretty good, maybe a little more cooked than my liking but still tasty. Then came the kielbasa, which was delicious! We also had the garlic bread which was delish! Okay so those are all my positives about this place. So the negatives were the following. The sirloin steak they served was a little bit hard to chew and cut. I only ate 1-2 bites of my piece. Then the pork wasn't horrible, it just wasn't my favorite, could've been better I think, it was a bit dry. And a different chicken was served, very, very dry. Then we kept seeing this delicious looking pineapple being sliced at every table, covered in cinnamon, yum. But every time they came close to our table they'd run out. So finally a 1/2 hour later the guy came over with it, literally almost down to the core of it. It was good, but I think we would've enjoyed it better if it were cut fresh from when they first brought it out. So the other issue I had was the guy serving the meat barely came to our table after we tried things 1x, and even then there was a couple of things we never got to try because he kept skipping our table. One time he had kielbasa which I wanted again, he looked at our table and then just walked away. From that point on he didn't come back, just kept skipping us. There was one table in particular he hit up every time he came out with new stuff. :( Now they leave you a card for the table green to keep it coming or red BASTA to stop serving us. We had it on green still. And at that point to, it got busy so our server was running around so we couldn't quite tell him we wanted more. I don't know what the guys issues was with my table. So then we get our bill. Now we paid $15 for a $30 Groupon. We got 2 desserts, sodas (my husband and I ordered 1 each in the beginning and then he asked for 1 refill for himself), and my son a lemonade. Kids are only charged like $3.95 (which is pretty reasonable). Our total bill was over $60. They charge for refills on sodas, which I think is bad taste! Who does that anymore? So with tip, etc. we ended up dishing out about $50 still for our meal. :( This was not worth it at all. So if you still decide to try this place out after reading this, here are the high and low points: High Kielbasa Garlic Bread Chicken wing (on buffet) Pasta on hot buffet Low Meat server Steak Pork

We went to the Midwest Grill (Rt 1, Saugus location) for Father's Day. We had been there once before, for lunch, and were quite satisfied. This visit would prove to be quite different. After getting a plateful of items from the messy hot/cold buffet/salad bar, we returned to our table to eat that, before starting on the featured meat entrees. The salad bar was much in need of a cleanup, with food spilled by diners around the trays and in many cases, in other trays. While eating our appetizer, servers came around frequently offering all sorts of meats, which we declined, for the moment. Once we finished our appetizers, we began to select from some of the meat offerings. One waiter brought around some sirloin steak. We felt it was raw (note that we enjoy our meats on the rare side of medium rare) and asked him to return when he had some that was more medium rare. Another waiter brought some steak tips that he said were well done. We asked him to please come back when he had some that were more medium-rare. Mixed in with some other offerings, the above was repeated several times during our meal ... the same servers would bring our meat that was far from our liking and promised to return with something we would find more to our tastes. Yet each time they did not. As we sat and waited the servers came out less frequently with fewer offerings. We finally complained to our waitress who was shocked and went into the back to speak with management. She returned very apologetic and assured us that they would be out with meats that would please us. Yet this did not happen; in fact there was a repeat of the same as before. We spoke to the waitress again and again were assured it would be corrected ... but it was not, even after waiting more than 20 minutes for them to grill up some new stuff. When we paid the tab, the waitress again told us how bad she felt and that she had discussed this with the management, etc. It is interesting to note that unlike some other restaurants which we might have had some difficulty in the past, there was no offer to "comp" one or more meals (we had 3 meals at $20.95 each), no offer for a free dessert ... nothing. In fact the manager never saw fit to stop by the table to talk with us about this experience. By the way, the restaurant was only about 25% full, so it was not a case that either there were too few customers or too many. We left after almost 2 hours, much of it waiting for food, and did not feel as though we had a decent meal. It is quite unlikely that we will return.

Been here multiple times since hubby is a HUGE fan of Buffets. The first time we went here I was NOT impressed, all the Rodizio meats that came around were all well done & I'm a fan of my meat being tender & pink. Thankfully they have plenty of A1 sauce there. :) But the 2nd, 3rd & 4th time we went, they were able to bring us some meat cooked "Medium Rare". My favorite cut was the "Sirloin". The kielbasa is always tasty. & in the Salad Bar section, I had 2 heaping helpings of the "Yellow Rice" & the "White Beans" Tip!!!!! The dinner price is $21 per person.... lunch is $14.95 per person, lunch hours are (11am - 4pm)... much better deal :)

Totally disappointed. Enthusiasm of staff= Awesome. Quality of food= Average, at best. Over salted meats, inexperienced "cutters'/servers. Way overpriced.

While the meat was tasty, they seemed to have a problem with pacing. At the beginning of the meal it was coming too fast, by the end of the meal no one was coming around and we had to ask for them to bring items to our table, as did others who were dining around us. We also got water to drink and had to ask for refills, they were never offered automatically, which was aggravating as our waiter almost never came by the table. The biggest issue I have is we used a restaurant.com gift certificate and they applied the tip as they were supposed to, then we had a second tip show up on our credit card receipt after the fact which we did not authorize. I spoke with the manager who took my information and assured me he would call back, but to this point he still has not and even after explaining the situation to more than one employee we have not received any response. Thankfully it was only $10, but I hope that $10 was worth losing a customer over.

While not as exotic as some of the Brazilian steakhouses in the "high rent" districts, the food here is very good and not overly expensive for the quality received and the abundance of the food. The steaks were good, as were the lamb and pork cuts. Even the salad bar brought some welcome surprises. Having eaten in similar places in Brazil and the United States, I found this enjoyable. The staff was helpful and courteous. Not a five star experience, but nevertheless we were happy we stopped here.

First time and last time!!!!!! The ONLY + was the young server (black curly hair), he was so polite, courtesy and attentive to our needs. It wasnt busy at all and with all the people working there you would have thought to have great service. The food was dry, over cooked and the buffet horrible!!!!!!! There was no soup/salad bowls and also a few of the plates were dirty.

I really wanted to like this place. The server was pleasant and the place was not too shabby. The food was TOO salty. I'm not sure if they do it to discourage their customers from eating too much or that's just their style, either way its a bad strategy. Please tone down on the salt. If I needed more salt I would use a salt shaker. The salad bar was not my cup of tea sorry I can't provide anything of use for this topic. If they ever decide to cut back on the salt, I would definitely come back

I've been to the Midwest Grill on US-1 several times (for lunch only) and always have been very pleased. At lunchtime, you can either order the traditional Brazilian Rodizio "all you can meat" meal, or the lunch special meal, which offers a choice of grilled chicken or beefsteak. Both include a nice buffet of all you can eat hot and cold items as well. Everything's delicious and regardless of which type of meal you order, you won't leave hungry. The service at the Midwest Grill could definitely be a little more attentive and it could be more pleasant as well. Otherwise I'd give them five stars. An excellent value, I know I'll be going back again soon!

Bad customer services. Waiters do not want to serve customers. We came in the restaurant were sitting for 15 minutes no one is asking us anything. The owner does not willing to except Groupon. We ended up walk out the restaurant. Over all experience we will never come back hto this restaurant. Totally ruining our night.

I think I was unfair in my initial review so I decided to write an update. I will admit that I was rather harsh in my initial review which somewhat justify why I was flamed by another reviewer for my comments on this restaurant. Then again, the food and the restaurant's overall rating to date and the below average reviews prove that I was not in the minority thinking that the food was not great at all. I want to start out by saying that I "heard" wonderful things about this place which was why my boyfriend and I decided to venture out and try this place. It is however very unfortunate that the food did not meet our expectations on any level. I have to say that I have had excellent Brazilian food before so this Brazilian buffet style grill is not a new concept or food flavor profile for me. It is again, I must mention, unfortunate that this dining experience had been so vomit inducing. I literally wished I could rid myself of everything I ate that night. I wished I could say it more elegantly the first time around, however, it is what it is. The meat was extremely salty. Talk about a sodium boost but that would even be an understatement. And the smell, my goodness, the smell of the meat was gamey and not pleasant one bit. Unless you're planning on spending the whole dinner at the salad bar, what else can I really review in term of food if the meat isn't the main course, the main attraction? The one star is for the food and not anything else. The service was stellar. Staff was polite and made you felt at ease. It is a shame that the food was what brought this review down to a one. I will not eat here again. It was and still is in my opinion, a gross waste of money. I would check out other Brazilian restaurants in Boston. This place looks good, has excellent customer service, but the food, the food has no bragging rights.

I will never order from here again. I ordered dinner to be delivered to my hotel. 50 minutes later I still hadn't received my food, so I called for an update. The food wasn't done, they didn't have the address correct and it would be another hour until I got my food. They basically forgot. Needless to say, I canceled my order and will be sure to follow up and make sure they don't charge my credit card.

my first time here as recommended by myboyfriend... everything was excellent! I loved the whole concept on how they bring the meat to your table! If I could I would just hang out there all day have some drinks while the food keeps coming :) My only complaint is that when I ordered my dessert -which was tiramisu- they drizzled steak sauce on it.. Now I thought maybe because it was a unique restaurant (and because my bf never got dessert so didn't know) that it was intended.. yeeeeeahh not so much. I ate around the steak sauce and needless to say didn't really enjoy the desser portion. Shame on me for not bringing it to the waitors attention but he was gone for a very long timein between and we neeed to get out of there before we ate ourselves to death.

Avoid Midwest BBQ. On my 2nd visit, they refused to honor voucher (LivingSocial); food was ok (really, fair is a reasonable description) and service was slow. The staff, whenever they would stop by, was friendly.

This was not someplace I will return. Having been here a few times and it was pretty good, we decided to return last Friday night. We hadn't been in about 6-8 months and WOW has this place gone downhill. First, there was practically no one in the restaurant when we arrived around 7:30 but it was a mad scramble for the wait staff to get us seated. They did, then came over to take our drink orders and told us to help ourselves. Typically the salad bar/hot buffet is pretty good but this time it was awful. Things were out of place of the labels - for example where it was labeled plantains were mini sausages. The rice was crunchy, the salad was wilted...the whole bar was not good. The meats - what we did get was ok but they did not serve as much as they have in the past. The only things we saw were pork ribs, steak tips, chicken hearts and kielbasa. There was no chicken, I asked for it and the server said he would be back with some and never came back. Which leads me to the service - service was despicable! Empty drink glasses for 15 minutes at a time, had to wait forever to get our check, etc. But the worst part was that within 4 hours of being home I got VERY ill which lasted the whole night. There is no doubt in my mind that it was the food, having not eaten anything else out that day. I tried calling to let them know the next day and the guy said he would have the manager call me, but of course no call back. We won't be going back!!

My My, has this place changed from what it used to be... .....they should call it the Midwest "DRY GRILL." If you're a smart dinner who values reviews from every day people you will go else where! From the service to the food, it leaves a lot to be desired!!! The price does NOT justify the quality, the service and the overall experience. Attempting to come to this place and get some food to go is even worse! I WAS FLAT OUT LIED TO! WHICH IS UNFORGIVABLE in my book. Talk about TOFTT, so you won't have to. I asked if they had a to go menu and was told NO and that I would "have to buy food by the pound." $6.99+ a lb. (I was like, whatever, since I was so hungry and passing by rt1) for some of the worse quality/service Brazilian food you can have. Visit their website a day later to find out that they DO have a take out menu, ended up paying over $21 for a small container filled with just appetizers pretty much, one or two sausages and a small piece of sirloin. WHAT A freaking RIP OFF!!! ARRRGGh. NEVER again. If I could give it a ZERO star I would.

I went back the other day for lunch, and I got the worst Churrascaria meal ever. The chicken with Bacon was one step away from ash, the steak sliced leather, pork was rubber. The food was obviously left out from the night before because I got sick from it. This was my last trip to the Midwest Grill in Saugus.

I have to say I honestly don't understand all the negative reviews about this place. I just returned from my first trip to Midwest Grill (though certainly not my first Brazilian BBQ experience) and found it to be excellent. The service was friendly and attentive (they even filled my water glass when it ran dry - always my test of a good waitstaff!), and the rodizio is a fantastic deal. Your all-you-can-eat meal also allows you access to an excellent salad bar (with hearts of palm and fresh mozzarella - nice touches) and a buffet with choices that are tempting enough that you need to remind yourself to save room for the main event. And what a main event it is! All of the meat choices are delicious, although admittedly, those who prefer lower-sodium meals may not be at the right place. All the same, I found the meats to be tender, flavorful, and cooked to my liking. Finally, I also must rave about the ambiance. It's a nicely-appointed and casual space, with lots of table room and cool chandeliers that were slightly reminiscent of the sort of lights you might see in a medieval castle's great hall/feasting chamber. The live music was also very tasteful - the guitarist was excellent and could actually sing. (As a singer myself, I appreciate that!) Overall, I certainly found this restaurant deserving of a five-star review. My wife and I will certainly be back.

  • Roseann B.

I'd give this place two stars if it wasn't for the sodium headache I got after leaving. The only good thing about this was the service. Watching the staff come out with the gallon jugs of salad dressing was off putting. We had a kid come up to us asking if we wanted to buy candy (was he a staff member?, training?, or just a 12 year old looking for some extra cash?) the staff had nothing to say about him as he went from table to table asking people to buy his candy. This was NOT worth the 20 dollars each. If anything, 15. Lastly, we were looking for a place not to far from the hotel and this was recommended in the hotel book--we looked at the menu while at our hotel and the Creme Brulee sold us since my boyfriend loves it. Not only was it cold, but the top wasn't even crispy. My boyfriend watched the waitress dump it from a freezer bag into a creme brulee dish. Yuck.

Do i really have to give any stars? is there a (minus) star rating. The only good thing about this place was the live music (a fabulous singer and a sax player). The food was horrible including desert was horrible. Although the waitress was nice, the service was super slow. For almost empty restaurant, it took forever for someone to take our order! Don't ever buy a groupon for this place, unless you want to eat the barbecue. Apparently there was a note in super tiny letters on the bottom of the voucher. When they told me to come back another time to use the groupon, i just tore it into pieces !

I enjoy the Brazilian style restaurant and this is no exception; a carnivore's dream. They always have feijoada on the buffet and it is a personal favorite. Some of the cuts of meat were not the best and a little tough. My Brazilian girlfriend was less than impressed with the overall quality of the meat selection.

Not bad. A little pricier than expected. I frequent these places and this is one that was pay by the weight (for lunch at least) I loaded up as usual with a the Brazilian treats that I like. Until yesterday, black shirted men shaving off unlimited, all you can eat hunks of assorted, hot, juicy skewered meats onto your plate was the milieu of cartoon character dreams or the life some lucky king. Who knew that world existed off the dystopic environs of Route 1? My lunch, which began with a smattering of salad was pleasantly interrupted by the juice squirting off fresh steak tips as they were carved off a skewer. I slowly consumed the lusty pieces of meat, only stopping to tear off freshly carved sirloin, and to make sure I had the right amount of brazilian sausage, ribs and bacon covered chicken. It just kept on coming, with regular queries about what I wanted next. I sampled each delicacy using A1 sauce and the hot chillies and oil from an overflowing bowl. It took over an hour before I was satiated, only to have dessert in the form of a barbequed pineapple sprinkled with cinnamon. Leaving the restaurant was like waking from a dream where all my food fantasies had come true. I did not eat my next meal till about 24 hours later. Hedonistic and excessive as it might seem, this place deserves at least one visit. A bit of a downer is that the meat can be a little gristly, but as long as you cut around it you should be fine.

  • Jan H.

Staff was rude, really bad cuts of meat very fatty and hard to chew. Chicken was so dry had a hard time cutting it. Asked for the grilled pineapple and waited and waited he never came with it. Waitress came and took our plates, never came with the dessert tray to find out if we wanted some. LAST TIME FOR THIS PLACE.

I love Brazilian BBQ and was ashamed to bring my friends to this "joint". I enjoyed the mediocre meats and rice. Was awed at the fact I had to ask one of the guys bringing meat around for a drink! The poor kid was doing a great job and the waitress was dragging her ass all along the lacking establishment . As an avid enjoyer of all foods, I apologized to my pallet for allowing the food to go down drink less for several minutes on end. Refills were a dream and asking for a water was like agreeing to communism. I was embarrassed that I asked my friends to accompany me and won't let this happen again. The gratuity was added on to the bill in a con like manner. When we asked to talk with the manager he brought the waitress to the table who proceeded to deem me and my dissatisfied friends as "cheap" liars who were reluctant to pay an appropriate tip. As a man who is constantly walking around with a healthy bulging wallet I am willing to tip handsomely to waitresses and waiters alike who are satisfying, and this woman proved to be a joke. I will never go back to this place and would not be surprised to see it go out of business with help of this sort. I was dissatisfied, insulted, and am going to spread the word.

We tried this place when it first opened and have not been back but it was enough to keep us away even though we love this type of food. First of all, the meat was all overlooked. Second, the people cutting it don't slice it correctly. But that was just the beginning. First, the server spattered blood all over my white shirt while cutting the meat and didn't even apologize. Secondly, when he walked by us after to get to another table, he actually STABBED me in the arm with the skewer!!! They brought everything over once and then asked us if we wanted anything else specific. We said that we'd just see what else came by, and they just never came back at all. Never refilled our drinks with very salty food and totally ignored us most of the time. Left with like a $80 bill, still hungry, and very upset. I won't go back ever! I MISS MY FIREBULL!

  • Andrew R.

I was surprised by the high prices. There are many other Brazilian rodizio restaurants that offer very similar experiences for half the price. The buffet area was very clean and presentable and offered a nice variety of dishes, but the meat the servers came around with seemed lacking compared to other establishments. And that is generally what I go to rodizio for. The ones I did like were the beef ribs and grilled cinnamon pineapple, but again, all other meat was lacking. So therefore, I would not be likely to return based on the high price alone ($20!).

  • Sparkle Butter N.

You really do get what you pay for. The bbq meat was salty and awful. The only good thing was the pineapple with cinnamon on it. Maybe because it didn't need to be cooked so they can't screw it up. The decor was awful and the service just as untasteful. Stay away, it's not worth the experience. Waste of money. Real brazilian bbq places may be a little pricier, but at least you didn't leave feeling cheap and used.

It was another Friday night out with a couple of friends. Prior to starting the night, we were hungry and one of my friends brought up the Midwest Grill as an option. It has been awhile since my last visit, just the thought made my mouth water. Without hesitation, we decided that a plethora of grilled meats would satisfy our carnivorous appetite. Once we arrived and got seated, we ordered our drinks then off we go! One of my friends was a new comer. He made the rookie mistake of trying the food by the salad bar. We tried to warn him but the rookie mistake always happens to any new person we bring. As the meats came, I decided the try the pork that night. Wow, it was tender and juicy. I was very impressed. Usually, I stick with the beef but the pork looked very appetizing. While eating, we noticed a couple of table over, someone ordered this glowing green cocktail. It was pretty cool looking so we asked what was in it and one of us decided to order this holy mother of green drink. It goes by the name of Caipirinha (for some reason, i think of the word piranha... maybe this drink devours your soul after drinking it). Pronounced Kai-peer-reena... At first glance, one would think consuming the beverage would turn you into the incredible hulk. But after drinking it, it just turned me into the incredible drunk. It taste like limeade but with big boy juice. Apparently, it's Brazil's national cocktail. I ended up ordering one myself but my light-weight self couldn't finish it but that's what friends are for! All in all, it was another successful evening where we indulged in grilled meats. I have to say... the beef sirlion (the giant piece of meat on the stick) has got to be my favorite. The charred outside and medium rare inside with the perfect amount of salt seasoning is to die for; a true warrior's feast. I finished things off with a cappucino and it was awesome as well. This place always make my friends and I feel welcomed on every visit. It's only right for us to drop off a review on Yelp everytime we go there. Thanks again Midwest Grill Saugus! P.S. I'll post up the picture of this drink.

We went here with a big group of kids after a basketball tournament in Boston. The kids loved the fact that it was all you can eat and really took advantage of it. There weren't many choices like if you were going to a nicer Brazilian Steakhouse like Chima or Fogo de Chao. I think they only had like 2 cuts of beef?? They had chicken hearts, which is odd, but i really enjoy them so that was great for me. They had this pineapple cinnamon which the kids really loved and adds some kind of sweet cool mix to all the meat. The salad bar was average, nothing great but it was all fine. Overall, for $21, I think it's worthwhile if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere and you're with a big group which would make it a fun environment.

  • Joan R.

Not great, but a fun place. We don't usually have alcohol here, so I'm not too up on the prices as far as that's concerned. The meat is OK. You need to pay attention, because well-done is REALLY well-done, and is usually what they bring around before the rarer beef. The chicken in bacon is usually dry, but tasty. The beef ribs are fun, and the grilled pineapple is delicious. Don't anticipate quiet conversations. It gets loud. Still, kids love getting the hot and cold food off the buffet, and mine, at least, loves getting the tongs himself to help get the meat off the skewers.

I had been looking forward to going to the Midwest Grill for a long time, and I finally got around to it. I was kinda hoping it would be better than your standard Brazilian BBQ, but sadly it wasn't. The meal started off as you would expect, the normal run-thru of how the red/green system works, then an invite to hit the salad bar. We arrived to a pretty empty restaurant, but it did fill up fast, which was reassuring. After we did our business at the salad-and-more bar, the skewers of meat started circulating. None of the meat items were exceptional, but all were decent with the exception of the lamb. I got one chunk then avoided it for the rest of the night. I have found that at Brazilian BBQs, or as I call them, 'All You Can Meat Buffets,' they start off bringing you fresh, quality meats, then begin serving you the stuff that has been sitting around for a while as the meal wears on. I didn't find this to be the case at Midwest, their meat was consistent from beginning to end, but again was neither good nor bad. I also think that I was the only one in my group that really came to do some damage, so as time went on I felt like I was keeping everybody else there against their will, especially when I took it to the next level and ordered dessert (possibly the best part of my meal!). Luckily, service towards the end of the meal took a serious nose dive and kept everybody prisoner, making it seem less like it was my doing. From the time we all agreed we were done and flipped the card to red to the time that we got our bill, paid, and left, seemed like well over half an hour. It was an agonizing wait, like we were just forgotten in the middle of the dining room. I'm pretty confident I won't trek to Saugus again for a churrascaria, as I can have the same food for cheaper at one 5 minutes from my house. It was good to try it once though, cuz like I said, I was hoping that Midwest Grill would've been one of the better ones. It just wasn't.

I've been to several Brazilian restaurants in the area and this one is at the bottom of the list. We went with a Groupon on a Wednesday. It wasn't busy. Our waitress was very nice, but also very new. The waitresses make the caipirinhas at the table from a little cart, which is nice, but they were the worst we've had. They have a large drink menu so I decided to see what would happen if I ordered a Manhattan from it and I got glass of cheap whiskey with water. The buffet and meat were all just ok and the tiramisu was pretty average.

I went to the Midwest Grill in Saugus on Saturday night. It was my first time there. I found that the concept was interesting but the food was not very good, at least to my palate. If you like strong flavored meat, this could be the place for you. I found the beef and lamb to be on the gamey side. I expect lamb to be a little strong depending on how it's prepared but the beef had a pungent flavor much like lamb. The lamb was stronger and the beef ribs smelled so strong that I wouldn't even try them. Also beware walking through the restaurant as there ends up being a lot of meat drippings that make the floor a bit slippery.

Overpriced and sub par. I went with my girlfriend and, and after tip it ended up costing $75 - and we didn't even buy any alcoholic beverages! The meat wasn't anything special. I left very disappointed and $75 poorer

This place was fine - I've never been to the Cambridge location, so i don't know how it compares. I'm still trying to figure out why a Brazilian barbecue is called Midwestern Grill. But. . .whatever. They gave us a little card that was green on one side to let the guys walking around with the meat know our table wanted more, and red on the other to let them know we were done, or were taking a break. It was malfuntioning though, because they always came no matter what. Better to be broken that way than them NOT coming though. . right? The various meats were good in general, and not overly salty. The chicken hearts were not over cooked, and the beef rib was really great. Other things that came to our table: marinated chicken, chicken wrapped in bacon, lamb, top sirloin, pork loin, 2 kinds of sausage. They offer lots of sides buffet style - you get up and get them yourself. Not only the usual beans and rice and plantains, but stuff I'm not used to seeing at a Brazilian place, like pasta salad, green salad, broccoli, beets etc. I personally prefer the family style serving of sides at Fire Bull in Peabody. The place is brightly lit with a high ceiling, and feels like a big cafeteria or function hall to me - so I guess I'm not that impressed by the atmosphere. They did have a guy playing guitar and singing. . .which was. . .a little odd considering the whole cafeteria thing. They offered 4 desserts - which seemed like those animal puzzles where you turn the bottom to give the lion the bottom of the zebra, and the monkey the middle of the hippo. . .cheesecake with strawberry stuff on top, chocolate cake with cheesecake on the bottom, chocolate cake with a coconut/dulce de leche layer, and coconut dulce de leche cake with a strawberry on top. They were all fine. . .but not spectacular. The waitress said they usually had homemade flan and tiramisu, but they were out. The caipairinhas were very good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again - but wouldn't mind coming back if asked.

We chose this restaurant based on its proximity to the Red Roof Inn. It's a classic Brazilian steak house where they bring around skewered slabs of meat and slice off generous portions for your consumption. I found the meat to be just fine. They had a reasonable hot and cold bar. I especially liked the mashed potatoes. The black beans, interestingly enough, had more ham than beans. It was a good way to fill up prior to a long day of airport connections. When I asked, the hostess told me that the restaurant was named for the Midwest of Brazil, aka Brasilia.

This is a great concept. Who doesnt like an all you can eat every once in a while? Maybe all the pairs of pants I own but they dont have feelings so it doesnt count. The restaurant itself is pretty nice even thought its located on one of the busiest roads in MA. The salad bar had a lot of stuff to choose from. The warm sides like fries and mash were not so warm hence the loss of 1 star. The servers were friendly and came around with the meat selections pretty often. From sausage to steak to lamb to grilled pineapple with cinnamon. The steak tips were a little on the fatty side. A couple of rum and lime cocktails (forget the name) washed it all down very nicely. Not too pricey either at $130 for 4 people with 2 drinks each.
