I Love this place so much that I went three days in a row. The lobster bisque was outsatnding with huge chunks of Lobster! The Quahog was so delicious and different and overflowing the clamshell. The Strawberry Shortcake was out of this world with a huge homemade biscuit that was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside so it absorbed all the juice the only thing I didn't care for where the onion rings the waitresses were funny and nice and efficient

Me and my boyfriend ordered a grilled cheese and a rueben here. It took a very long time to get it. The grilled cheese was really boring. My fault, I should have asked. They only put white American cheese on it. No flavor. The rueben was good though.

I will dream of the stuffed quahog for the rest of my life. Made with a genius concoction of ritz crackers, spice and Magic. Lobster roll was tasty with big hunks and fish and chips was also meaty and good. But the quahog was the winner of the day. I will endeavor to recreate it with no luck but can't hurt to try. Simple glass of Pinot Grigio and a mediocre apple crisp with ice cream.

This place is rated to have the 3rd best clam chowder in Cape Cod. I called 5 min after they closed. They were awesome and packed me a cup to go. It was the best I've had! I also noticed that they have a good selection of beer and wine. It's unexpected for this diner type atmosphere. The rhubarb pie looked good too.

Super simple open minimalist setup, friendly staff, cheap prices, meh food. Got the stuffed quahog, Hawaiian (grilled chicken with pineapple and provolone) and French Onion soup. Quahog was flavorless biscuit crumbs with bits of clam. No spice, no texture, very unexciting. I later find out this is some kind of local legend... What? Hawaiian was good, fresh and cooked well, it really cried out for some kind of sauce as it was dry by design, but none was offered and I decided against bothering. French onion soup, like any poor French onion soup tasted like salt water. It had a nice cover of a decent bread and browned mozzarella, but once you got into the heart of it was a total waste, we didn't bother. Two star food, gains a star because the staff was friendly and the prices are cheap (our total bill was $28) but expect to get what you pay for.

We went on a very busy Sunday with a line out the door. Good sign. The young host was great at his job by being very sweet and polite and apologizing for not being able to predict the length of time before we'd be seated. There were four of us in our party and we all ordered breakfast. I can't remember the last time I've enjoyed a breakfast like that one. I had the Linguisa and eggs with thick cut sourdough toast. What's not to love? They get props for already having Tabasco on the table. Our service was excellent but we were too busy stuffing our faces to notice much of anything else. Thanks to the cook for cooking my Linguisa with a nice crispy crust. They seem to care about quality. You can't go wrong at this little place.

Excellent lobster bisque. Fresh chunks of lobster in it. Sorry I ate it before I took a picture.

Great food. We had Quahog, Cape Cod Reuben, Lobster roll, and clam strips; all amazing.

We came here on Father's Day. It started off with a long wait, then we sat down and two out of the four of us got silverware. I had to get up twice after waiting a long time to get the appropriate silverware myself. We asked for milk not cream for the coffee. Half of a small glass was brought to a table of 4 people. We requested more milk which my sister ended up having to get herself after waiting a long time. My coffee at this point was luke warm and it tasted like it had been sitting on the element for days. Then the food comes. The fries tasted like shrimp and my dad has a seafood allergy. The waitress confirmed that the fries were cooked in the same oil they cooked seafood in for other customers. My mother's food was cold. The food was mediocre, service was poor and we won't be going back anytime soon.

Always good! The stuffed quahog is amazing and big enough to be a meal for only $4! I love that they bring muffins as the bread, and their house dressing is really good. Sounds weird, but the sour cream cookie is amazing!

How can you not stop in Sandwich for a sandwich? We had the lobster rolls which were great, stuffed to the hilt with fresh lobster for $17.99 (market price at the time, a great price for what we got). It is more a diner place with a simple menu. Service was average but I don't really have service expectations in a place like this. I wanted a great lobster roll and that is what I got, simple as that. If I ever drive through Sandwich again, I will make the stop.

This is a classic, good diner. It is a great place for breakfast or lunch. I have my favorite dishes. The waitresses are good at what they do. Usually you can strike up a conversation with other customers. A great place for townies and tourists! The bakery on the side has delicious muffins and cookies.

Marshland used to be a Sandwich, MA destination. Nowadays, it seems to be riding on reputation more than anything else. Ever since Duff went on "Best thing I ever ate" and praised Marshland's stuffed quahog, it seems like the brand has gone all-out commercial-- multiple locations, new shirts that say "I got Stuffed at Marshland" and all other shenanigans have gotten in the way of what used to be good food. When I think of Marshland, I think of Thursday and Sunday night roast turkey dinner served year round, sitting in a booth across the way from my parents. That is the what Marshland is best for-- comfort food and family. Marshland has taken a slight decrease in quality in recent years, but hopefully they find their bearing soon.

Late breakfast or brunch -- Good food, nothing too fancy, just solid stuff that sticks to your ribs. The raspberry butter on the Belgian waffle is yummy. Eggs are served nice and hot. Be prepared for a wait if you arrive at a popular time, but the turnover at booths is usually pretty reasonable. Better strategy for three or fewer people might be to sit at the counters.

I had a Reuben with sweet potato fries and chocolate chip bread pudding. I thought I was in Luke's diner from Stars Hollow of Gilmore girls fame. I'll be back

Ate here After seeing on best thing ever ate/food TV. I had a scollop/whole clam plate that was just OK.. Whole clams were over cooked, not very tasty, scollops were good, rest of meals were good, I was just not thrilled with mine. The kicker and what bumped to 4 stars from 3 were the stuffed quohogs, WOW these were 5 stars ++ these alone were well worth the trip..

  • Awesome breakfast place. Stayed in Sandwich while on Cape Cod and went here for breakfast a bunch of times. Really good selection of typical American breakfasts served in a family-owned restaurant which has been around for quite some time. We came back three times in a row because we enjoyed it so much. If in the area, definitely stop in.

If I'm going to go out for breakfast, I usually lean towards somewhere I'll be able to get a Bloody Mary. I knew this place did not offer that, but my girlfriend's family raved about the place. And besides, if you can't survive a meal without a drink, you have a problem. Immediately upon entering my girlfriend was greeted with a huge hug from one of the servers, I believe her name was Debbie. My girlfriend spent her first 18 years in Sandwich. So as soon as I see that, I'm in love with the place. It has that small town, USA feel that is really cool to experience. My girlfriend had the Poppy McMarshland - it's a play on an Egg McMuffin, only on a poppy seed bagel using an actual egg, instead of that thing McDonald's calls an egg. There is no comparison, I just thought the naming convention was cute. I'm an Eggs Benedict kind of guy, but on occasion I have a hankering for corned beef hash. And wouldn't you know, they have a dish that combines the two. Both meals absolutely hit the spot. The place is on the smaller side, but not terrible, and it's a small town so it's expected. They have some communal tables, which is exactly what you want to see in this town. The communal tables have these mini two foot stools, further gives the place a small town feel. So the atmosphere is great, as was the service. I can best describe the cost as diner level, only cheaper because of the whole small town and I'm no longer in NYC thing. If you're going out for breakfast and you want great food with a small town feel, this is your place. You will not be disappointed, it's a must visit.

Been going here since I was small. My grams favorite breakfast spot! It is a small but quaint and serves up great food. Some of my fondest memories are in sandwich and each of those days started of at the Marshland!!

This review would have received more stars had we not received horrible service. The moment we walked in we received an annoyed face by a young lady. Our waitress was rushed and barely gave us a chance to place our order. We have been here for about a week and been to several restaurants with great service except for this one. Rather disappointing because while the food was great I would not recommend this place due to the poor service. I understand people may have bad days but when you work in a place where you service customers you need adjust to adjust your attitude, especially because they keep you in business.

  • Andy B.

I had heard rave reviews about this place, I would more chalk that up to lack of options in the area, so we rolled in. Waited quite some time for a restaurant then the service was very unattentive, short, and relatively rude. We are from the Midwest, so it may have been the different between East Coast and Midwest, but I feel like the server could care less we were sitting there, and rarely made it to our table.

yum this place has awesome breakfast. i was getin cranky cuz bf couldnt find this place if his life depended on it. we actaully ended up driving by it and noticing it on the turn around. yay! the place is small and you can sit on the counter if there is a room but if you want a table, there may be a wait. the staff is really friendly and attentive.

Great small diner on the side of 6A- perfect for locals of Sandwich and a good option for tourists. The prices are pretty much the best you can find for a casual dining experience around Sandwich, other restaurants nearby being generally on the more over-priced side or simply being more suited to special occasions. One of the few sit-down restaurants around with good desserts that don't cost an arm and a leg, too! I adore the brownie sundae. The menu has all of the standard things one would expect at a diner, and you'll probably find a few favorites pretty quickly, given the small size. Have heard complaints about various items, but they can easily be avoided in favor of tastier options (linguini and meatballs is nothing to write home about, but with other Italian joints nearby, there's no reason to order it over something like their famous quahog). Due to the small size of the building, it becomes crowded very quickly on weekends and standard rush times, but the staff are very friendly and will give you a good estimate on waiting time, which isn't usually too long. Marshland Too is a good alternative if you don't feel like waiting, as the quality of the food is consistent between the two restaurants.

We really enjoyed our breakfast here! Typically, when on vacation in town, our standard go-to breakfast spot is 6a. This time, we felt like we should mix it up so we tried out Marshland and were very impressed. The farmers omelet was full of fresh vegetables and the croissants were soft and delicious. They subbed croissant for toast with no problem. The ambiance is cozy and old fashioned with low ceilings and countertops. Portions were large and food was hot. We can't wait to go back.

The kids just had to eat a sandwich in Sandwich, so we sought out such a place on our way towards Boston from the Cape. The Philly Cheesesteak I ordered was huge and far outweighed my appetite, and it was wonderful. The rest of the clan ordered meatballs (not as good as mine but very good), hummus wrap, roast beef and turkey sandwiches. All were amply sized, and if you don't have a big appetite, I'd share one with a friend. The kicker was the desserts: the peanut butter bar and chocolate cheesecake bar were incredibly rich. I'd recommend splitting these. The pistachio cake and cannoli were equally good. Though we chose to eat outside, we kind of regretted our decision not to order inside where they had a quaint diner setting with stools around two counters. When visiting the Cape, this place is a worthy stop to or fro'.

The place is a treasure. Sit at the counter and drift back in time. Chat with the personable waitresses, talk to your fellow diners and relax. Grilled shrimp on salad with very tasty house dressing. Terrific. Chowder, OK. Too many big potato pieces and not enough clams to rate higher although the flavor of the broth was excellent. The whipped cream topped slab of grapenut custard made me very sad because when I took my first bite of this dessert, I realized it would soon be gone and I did not know when I would be back! Boy it was good!

this place was great. i was pleasantly surprised. such a good atmosphere and the service was great. not to mention the food was awesome! i had the lobster bisque and my son had the lobster roll. they have some good lobster! i suggest it for a cape style meal. cant wait to go back!

Suggested by the folks at our motel, we tried this spot for a late lunch. We've gone back for more three times since. We're especially fond of the stuffed quahog and clam chowder. At breakfast, our omelets and eggs were perfectly prepared and the proportions generous. The only disappointment was the Belgian waffle, which was heavy and not completely cooked. At the original location (perhaps at the others as well?), we also found a bakery with outstanding scones (4 stars) and raisin bread (5 stars). The people and service were all super - a pleasure to visit just for that.

Went on a Friday at 10am. Waited over a half hour to sit. It's the Cape, it's August, I get it. That isn't the reason for my 2 star rating. It's what came next that bothered me. I am not a huge breakfast person, but I will eat it. Being now 10:45, I inquired about lunch and if they could make a turkey club. Simple, toast, bacon, (both of which they would have readily available at breakfast) and cold turkey. I strategically held my drink order to wait on confirmation of lunch. She kept asking what I wanted to drink. I kindly told her it would depend on lunch or not. She walked off and waited a few tables and then went into the back for two seconds. By this time I was naturally curious. From my booth, you could see the cooks. NONE of them even looked at her or opened their mouth. She came back out and said "no, they can't do it. They said they don't have anything for lunch prepped." Oh well, I ordered a coffee. And received a glare when that's all I ordered. Looks like I'll be getting lunch somewhere else. The coffee was really weak and burnt as well. So here's the summary. Really cramped, small place packed to the gills like a preverbial can of sardines. One window ac trying to keep the masses cool. Waitresses will have no problem lying to you if you ask for anything that requires them to do any extra work. Weak, burnt coffee. The cape isn't that big and there are PLENTY of other places that are way more deserving of your business.

Horrible service! Our food was cold, the waitresses were rude, and the restaurant was freezing cold! Marshland too is much better! Go there instead!!

How do I get so lucky?!! Here I am, driving from the Cape back to Boston area and I get off the highway for really.. no reason that I can think of. Then, I gets hungry. I end up making several turns, getting slightly lost, then I say screw it, i'm stopping at the next place I see. And it's this place, The Marshland. I busted through the door and straddled on of the little stools. Sta down like a Boss and was greeted by the sweetest little lady ever. So much for my tough guy, road warrior stigma. I was now her favorite grandson. Dammit. She got me some drink on the fast, and chatted me up for a second. I told her my life story, cried on her shoulder and then ordered. I figured their specials menu was a great place to start. Got the Turkey with Stuffing and Cranberry sammich (Thanksgiving between two pieces of bread) I also ordered the stuffed Quahog because i've never seen that before. While I waited and looked around I started to notice that this little place has had at least 15 minutes of fame. Theys on the Food dang ol network! Well how bout them apples?!!! How do I stumble upon these places? It's like I'm somehow drawn to all the baller food joints in the country. weird. Anyways... Sammich comes and SAMMICH GOES!!! DOOOOWN THE HATCH!!!! That was super duper yummy! Especially on a colder dreary rainy day this it was, that was perfect! The Quahog was steamin hot. SUPER hot.. Once it cooled down I devoured that like it owed me money. Once I finished up I hugged the neck of my server and swore to come back to see her again and headed out the door and back on the road. I won't forget you Memaw!!!!

My wife and I have eaten at Mashhland many times over the last several years and it had always been consistently excellent. We've always gotten full belly fried clams with fries. Always a home run. This last time however, our experience was quite the opposite. Our clam platters arrived slow and what we got was a huge disappointment. The clams were small and lacked flavor. They were soggy and greasy. Same goes for the fries... Soggy, greasy and not hot. The waitress joked that the food was slow because the chef was new and had messed our order up. We should have sent our food back, but wee were so hungry we just ate our food even though we weren't enjoying it. We really hope they can attract a better chef because this experience will make us think twice before eating here again.

We ordered take out from here and it was delicious! My husband's burger was cooked perfectly, which seems to be difficult for most restaurants we've been to lately. My fish and chips are cooked perfectly and the portions were plenty! My only criticism would be to suggest they include silverware for take out orders. We were lucky our hotel had some in our room. We will return!

Have you ever tried to find a delicious affordable meal on the Cape? Well look no further. Marshland was incredibly delicious, and two of us ate for under $20. The lengthy menu, and fun daily specials make this a place for everyone to find something! Laid back atmosphere, full of locals, and a cheerful staff. The food was delicious - we had the corned beef hash, and number 4. All items were cooked perfectly, and the portions were huge.

came here on a Sunday at 11am and waited about 5 minutes to be seated. I love the set up. there are booths as well as 2 square tables where anyone can sit with a waitress stationed in the middle. Food came quickly. I opted for an omlet with spinach and swiss. This meal came with toast and home fries. The home fries were a little different, they might even have looked lightly fried. Overall, good meal and good price. However, I think this is the kind of place where you go to get the specials if you want to be wowed - they had strawberry banana chocolate chip pancakes which I passed on because I was full. They had 2 other special kind of pancakes. This is what I will go for next time.

I would give Marshland 5 stars if it were not for the lack of heat. We've always had good meals at a very reasonable price. Last night there was prime rib dinner with a homemade popover for $13.99 and a slice of homemade pie for $2.00!! There was also a nice selection of beers for $3.00. For a delicious home cooked and reasonably priced meal, Marshland can't be beat. Just turn up the thermostat!

Food Network hoards have not ruined the charm of this little diner. The food is delicious and the wait staff efficient and friendly. We ordered the quahog, which was interesting and new for our party. It was like a buttery, clam-infused stuffing ball. I wouldn't necessarily come back time and again for it, but it was worth a try. The tastiest dish at our table was the seafood rueben. Basically this is a fried fish sandwich with all the classic rueben fixings-- coleslaw replaces sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, cheese, and buttered rye. Talk about rich! We all had a bite of this combo and agreed it was delectable. We also ordered the seafood casserole (special of the day), a lobstah roll, and french onion soup. We've had better lobster rolls in the Cape, but it was still a generous serving for $17. The seafood casserole was a moister version of the quahog, with more bits of lobster. After realizing that everything on the table was beige in color and sure to clog our arteries, I ordered a side of steamed broccoli-- the staff was happy to oblige. Save room for dessert! The key lime pie was perfectly tart and although $4 seemed expensive, the size of the slice was enough for four people. It was a great ending to the meal. All in all, we stuffed a family of four with fresh seafood for $60.

I love this place! The line is always out the door for breakfast. It's a small place, but gives you that local cape feel. I got an omelette and was very satisfied. The service was quick, friendly and the pricing isn't bad either. Check out their bakery in the back!

My colleague went to Marshland for take out lunch. I ordered a Cobb Salad without egg and bacon. There was a small 3 oz size of chicken with some red blood/not fully cooked and per my request, light on the blue cheese. The greens were crisp, the cukes were limp and the house dressing was nice but totally not worth 11+.

This is one of our favorite places to eat. It's cozy, food is always good. Their menu selection is wide, so, it's easy yo find whatever you are in the mood for. I like their chili and their salads.

Over time, Marshland has grown on me a bit. The bad service we experienced earlier seems no longer the case. The menu, however, is far too limited for a diner-style restaurant. The bad items are still bad. But it is possible to get an enjoyable meal. Sadly, the great bread they used for BLT's and with breakfast seems a thing of the past. Also, word of warning, if they bring butter to the table, demand true butter. The default substitute is awful.

Great food at very cheap prices. I can't find any flaws in this restaurant other than service. Not the greatest, could use a little more attentiveness. Great lunch menu. All prices were reasonable to cheap. It is a must to try the stuffed quahog, as seen on Cooking Channel's Best Thing I Ever Ate. Impressive... Best quahog ever. Very large, excellent seasonings. Very warm temperature and a very generous portion of filling. Amazing! The roast beef on texas toast was amazing. It came with mashed potato and seasonal vegetables, which had a weird, citrus taste to them. The roast beef was a bit tough to cut, but it was very thick, juicy, and well cooked. Good Job! The cape cod reuben had haddock in it, and it was very tasty. Quite a flavorful fish. Coming with french fries, no grease, great taste. The meatloaf was very delicious, along with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Presentation for all three dishes deserves a thumbs up. Plus, they have a bakery. We bought a chocolate chip cookie that the woman behind the counter kept raving about, and a layer cake. It was so good. Coming back on my next visit to Cape Cod.

Yes, the stuffed quahog is the thing to try but get a salad too because they have the best house salad dressing I've ever tasted. Bought a jar to take home. It's that good.

What happened to the muffins? I have been coming here for years and have enjoyed a coffee and muffin. This year the muffins are dry and tasteless. It will do in a pinch but there are better options nearby.

Service 5 stars. Chowder was 4 stars. They carry my favorite lemonade Nantucket Nectars. 5 stars Stuffed Quahog- 3 stars they are huge and a great deal for the price . I don't care for their seasoning or the Ritz cracker topping on the quahog. I found the quahog very dry and a little on the sweet side but it did have a little kick and lots of clams.

Raspberry butter on a Portuguese muffin was awesome, great omelettes, stuffed quahog was also pretty great. Would stop there again when leaving the cape! Prepare to wait!

Marshland to me was an average run-of-the-mill diner. It's claim to fame is the stuffed Quahog that landed it on food network but that to me wasn't enough to give marshland more than three stars. Of course we tried the quahog and let me warn you, it's definitely something you need to share. The stuff quahog was flavorful and a large portion, but i thought that it was a lot of breading and couldn't really taste the clams. For dinner i had the steak tips and fries and my friend had the spaghetti and meatballs. The steaktips were drenched in a heavy sauce that overpowered the meal, and wasn't very enjoyable. The meatballs on the other hand were excellent and delicious. The place itself is not that big, we had to wait 10 minutes for a table on a friday night. If you were in the area and didn't have anywhere to go, Marshland is good for a decent meal. If you didn't mind traveling i would go somewhere else.

Stopped in here with a buddy for dinner. Being tourists, we weren't exactly sure how the seating situation was handled as no one came to greet us when we walked in. Basically, you seat yourself in either booths or islands in the center of the restaurant in small stools. Once we got seated, our waitress was very nice. I ordered the stuffed quahog, because this is apparently a necessity in this restaurant. It was AMAZING. Although I don't have much experience with that dish so I don't have much to compare it to, it was one of the more delicious things I have eaten, and I can definitely see why it was featured on the Food Network. Past that, I had the stuffed chicken with cranberry. This dish was also very good and extremely filling. This place serves what I would call New England Soul Food. Definitely worth a stop in.

Great breakfast place, lots of locals. I really liked the coffee they served. I got my breakfast off the specials board, the bacon stuffed waffle. The waffle was very good. Cooked like a waffle should be, with a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior. The bacon throughout gave a nice crunchy contrast, and there was even more crunchy bacon garnished on top, offering a smoky flavor, as well. I love carbs way more than I should, so I got the home fries as a side dish. These were more roasted potatoes than cooked on the griddle. They were cooked well but needed some more flavor; they were kind of bland, so I could only eat them with ketchup. I tried a bite of thick sausage, and it was nicely juicy with a snappy casing DON'T get a pancake. I tried a bite of my brother's and it was a gritty texture, as if there was cornmeal mixed in. Service was good. I would definitely recommend this place to someone who wanted a good, inexpensive, and filling breakfast.

The stuffed quahog is a must try item. It was a very heavy appetizer so I would recommend to share it. We got the clam chowder which was excellent and highly recommended. The linguini and meatball was alright. The steak was good.

Stopped in for quick lunch. Had a cup of French onion soup & grilled cheese on sourdough. Both were simple, but tasty! My husband had a side salad & grilled chicken wrap. The creamy garlic dressing was fantastic-and the salad was more than just iceberg lettuce, which I can't stand, so I'll def get a salad next time. Servers were very friendly and restaurant was clean. Will definitely go back.

This is your typical diner food...I was a fan of their menu (we also got there at a time where we could choose from the breakfast, lunch, OR dinner menu!), with plenty of options to choose from in addition to a whole board of daily specials. This is a nice place to grab some affordable and casual food where it seems locals hang out, so thats a good sign. I ordered the award-winning combo, and alas, wasnt super impressed with the award-winning stuffed quohog...but then again I dont have anything to compare it to, but it didnt seem like there was much meat in there, and mostly just alot of breading. I also sampled the Cod reuben, which was a neat idea, but a bit salty.

I was in the Cape area with a friend who was visiting some relatives. Two kids were joining us for brunch. We quickly looked for places with good reviews and settled on Marshland. The place was fairly busy when we arrived at around 1pm. We were asked to wait a few minutes as they were cleaning up a table for us. Not a big deal as it was less than five minutes. The server informed us that they stopped making any pancakes and French toast. I ordered the lobster roll. My friend requested a bowl of clam chowder and a grapefruit. They were out of grapefruits so she opted for a bowl of fruit instead. While waiting for our food to be cooked, I noticed the specials on the board hanging on the wall. I wish our server had mentioned the specials. The lobster roll was huge. It was fresh and very good. My friend seemed to like her clam chowder. Overall service was ok. Food was decent. Prices were reasonable. If I were in the area again, I'd give Marshland a try again especially with breakfast or the stuffed quahogs.

I was on a road trip with my friends and partner. We needed a place to eat for dinner in Cape Cod and we found this place which was five minutes away from our hotel. We saw that this place was feature on the Food Network for the best quahog. And of course, we ventured into Marshland. We waiting about 15 minutes for a table. The restaurant was packed on a summer night. We placed our orders and our food came out. The portions were huge which, I am giving two thumbs up for! And the quahogs were absolutely out-of-this-world-to-die-for appetizer of the WHOLE trip. It was so good that we had to eat in this restaurant two or three times before heading out into our next destination. Marshland, you made our trip memorable! Thank you!!!

As one of the few breakfast places in town, the place was of course packed when I went. It was my boyfriend and I and if you are willing to sit at a booth OR at the table you get seated much faster. We opted for table and had no issues. Food was great, coffee was great, waitress was great. Parking is a bit tight but overall I had a great experience.

We ate here last week and had to try the famous stuffed quahog as seen on Food Network. This was probably the worst stuffed quahog we've ever eaten. I do not know what all the hype is about. It is apparently from people who have never had them before. When we got it, it didn't look anything like what we saw on Food Network. It was a flavorless lump of mushy (yet somehow dry) bread and cracker crumbs, with over-cooked quahog bits in it, which were more like chopped rubber bands than any seafood I've ever had. The chowder that came with the special was mediocre at best. There's a simple roadside stand on the other side of the bridge that outdoes this place by miles. We also bought some baked goods in the bakery side of this restaurant. Again, nothing to get excited about. There's a wonderful bakery in Woods Hole that puts this place to shame. I hate to be so negative - but what the heck are these people talking about that have given this place 3-5 stars? Wake up and eat at some of the other great places that are around on the Cape!

Food was good. Very quick and inexpensive. Cool little set up in there. Def worth a stop if your looking for a quick bite.

Drove from Falmouth, when we got their someone came to the door and told us that they had closed early for a staff meeting, with a smirk. Shouldn't staff meetings be before or after business hours, especially in the summer, during tourist season. Which led us going to Seafood Sam's, which turned our lobster roll hunt into a disappointing evening.

I was looking for a place to eat a good omelette after my typical fishing routine on the canal. My best friend and I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a shot. We came to this joint and were really blown away by the friendliness of the staff and their service, and FOODS! I have to say that I ate the best omelette from this place. I ordered the farmer's omelette without carbs and added Canadian bacon, spinach, and oatmeal. I gotta say that it was the best and freaking delicious one I ever eaten! Check this place out and their prices are totally and unbelievably affordable, too! They serve best seafood dishes, judging from the aroma that invaded my nostrils.

The food was great - I had an excellent omelet and I recommend the raisin bread. The staff was friendly. There was a bit of a wait for Sunday brunch at 9:45, but not long at all compared to some places. Highly recommend this place.

A great little restaurant if you are leaving or just arriving on the cape. It is right off 6A and they have some very well priced, but tasty foods! I had a bacon, tomato, and pepper jack quiche and my lady love had a roast beef I believe. We both got some soup, with mine being a clam chowder and hers a lobster bisque. Very quick and efficient wait staff had us in and out in a jiff. Good place that I'll definitely drop by again if I'm near!

The Marshland Restaurant has its priorities in the right place: the food comes first! Walked in on Mother's Day expecting a long wait (which there usually is, especially around brunch time,) and we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly we were seated. The scene: a small room with the smallest stools and counter you've ever seen. It's kind of like a set from a movie... for small people, but you're like, that's crazy-talk... then you notice that the ceiling is also a little low and then you're like... am I tripping?!? But no, not this time. The booths are a little tight too, but it works. All for the same reason. The food is really good! Head on down and check it out: the chowder is great, as is the lobster bisque and the stuffed quahog. Forewarned is forearmed, or something like that, so bear in mind that those items are pretty rich. Their Cape Cod Reuben is also pretty tasty. And oh yeah, there's a yumby (distant cousin of Gumby) bakery attached to the restaurant, so dessert to go is a snap.

Coming here for years, way bf the food network channel was invented lol, delicious breakfasts, quaint counter seats, long waits at peak am hours, stuffed breakfast croissant is super tasty, pancakes very good, Belgian waffles good, everything on the specials board A+ , grab muffins for the next day on the way out corn muffin w/jam inside is stellar

So, we stopped here on our way to see fall colors in Cape Cod. The Asian stir fry is very good. The Mediterranean wrap is good too. I was very happy to see many vegetarian options!! Service is great and ambiance is also very nice. Great casual family place!

The traffic getting to Marshland Restaurant on a Saturday afternoon was absolutely insane. Not sure if that's normal in Sandwich, MA but it was brutal and maybe even worth it. Hmm... We found this homey New England diner with my newly downloaded and now favorite app, TV Food Maps, which lists nearby restaurants featured on the Food Network. Marshland was highlighted in the 'Best Food I Ever Ate' where the quahog was shown off for its flavor and originality. We started with the famous quahog and a bowl of lobster bisque. Oh my word! The combination is magical. I've never had anything like the quahog, which is a steriod-sized fried, stuffed clam that definitely has to be shared for the average lunch. But, my favorite was the lobster bisque. It was incredibly creamy and flavorful with generous amounts of lobster. The quahog with a spoonful of lobster bisque is an orgasmic explosion of flavor. I should've stopped there, because the combination was filling enough. But, our eyes were larger than our tummies and we ordered a sandwich a piece. I know...I guess we were pretty HUNGRY! But, we had to have a sandwich in Sandwich, MA. Louis finished his club sandwich like a champ. But, I had to pack most of my chicken sandwich and fries. As far as service goes, we were confused at first when entering the diner since you have to pick your own seat without anyone greeting you. The servers bring you the menu within one-two minutes so that was fine. Our waitress was sweet, she answered our quahog questions, made sure our water was filled, and we left super stuffed. Success! mylifeleap.me/reviews

Went to Marshland "Restaurant" based on the ratings of 60 Yelp reviews. It seriously makes me wonder if these are actual reviews or if that many people have some serious taste bud disorders. In the first place, this eatery has no business calling itself a"restaurant". It is a diner period! Secondly upon entering the place it looked like it could stand a thorough cleaning. So upon entering my wife and I looked at each other and were about to leave but it was late in the morning and we had been driving for sometime already and I really wanted breakfast. So I thought . . . what the heck, in my days as a musician I had been in much worse looking places only to be surprised by some pretty good eats. Unfortunately this was not one of them. The coffee was typical of what you get these days in most diners, that is to say mediocre coffee made with a Bunn dripolator. I ordered one of their breakfast specials which was 2 eggs, linguica (a milder version of Portuguese sausage - chourico), home fries, and 2 buttermilk pancakes. My wife ordered eggs Benedict. So the food arrives reasonably quick, is hot and looks good. We're both pretty hungry at this point having worked up an even heartier appetite from battling a barrage of flies hovering about us and on our table. The linguica is sliced and looks more like bologna than linguica which is almost always sausage in a casing and not sliced like bologna. No real biggie I think until I cut into it and give it a whirl. Uh Oh . . . the linguica is turning bad, guess I'll pass on the linguica! The eggs which I ordered over easy were overcooked somewhere between medium and hard. On the other hand the whole grain toast that I ordered was very good (I'm thinking at this point because it was the one thing they didn't make). My wife's Eggs Benedict was horrible. Not only did she have to trade me one of her English muffins for one of my slices of toast because they were so bad, but her eggs were overcooked as well resembling hard boiled as opposed to poached. The Hollandaise sauce must have come out of a jar or can, but it's best to put it in her own words . . . "I don't know what the hell it was that I just ate". Oh and that English muffin that I traded my toast for was, and I'm not exaggerating, the absolute worst English muffin I ever had. Oh well, there goes my theory about serving good food that they didn't make! Could they have gone any further out of their way to find a worse English muffin? I doubt it, and the home fries, well nothing to write home about either, but I've had much worse. In fact I could see how some people may even like them. After all, there is a majority of the 60 reviewers that gave this swill pit a favorable rating. Last but not least I saved the buttermilk pancakes for last as I usually do. It too like the rest of the food was terrible. I may have had worse but I honestly can't say that I remember when. It had the texture of a cellulose sponge and the flavor of a loofa. Two bites and off to join the linguica. This diner that calls itself a restaurant does not even deserve 1 star in my book.

The breakfast food is okay. A little pricey for breakfast food though. I was grossed out to see the cooks in the kitchen handling the toast with their bare hands. Not everyone does a good job washing their hands and I think there is a law that food handlers are not allowed to touch food with their bare hands.

Okay, so I went to The Cape for a vacation during the hurricane (which didn't hit us at all. Zero rain) and we lost power which at first was an adventure but probably about dinner time when it was far too windy to start an outdoor flame (marsh grass!) and the prospect of MORE nutritionally adequate but cold snacks loomed...let's just say we were ecstatic when the power came back on and we could cook some dinner (taco bar!). Also learned that my "internal resources" are really limited when faced with no power and an inability to go outdoors. Anyway, all this to say that by the time Marshland approached as a brunch option I was really happy. So have that be your grain of salt. I had a really divine breakfast sandwich called Poppy's Bagel McNagel which is an egg (they generally hard cook it but I asked for it runny) cheese, spinach, mushrooms, etc, on a POPPY SEED BAGEL (see what they did there?) with well prepared homefries for about $8. I dreamed about it all week, and how I would have it the next time we went. THEN, at the end of vacation, when I am mopey to be leaving friends and returning to work we go back to Marshland. And I switch it up. I get the Cape Code Reuben which is- get this- perfectly fried haddock with all the Reuben fixins' (coleslaw, cheese, Russian dressing). It was sandwich awesomeness. I found this to be a heavenly melty cha-cha in my mouth. To top it off- the french fries were simple and awesome. I LOVED IT. Since can't just pop by for a quick bite I have been scheming how to recreate my meals there. I'll serve them up with some coffee in my MARSHLAND COFFEE MUG which is the perfect size and has thick walls and was $7.

Two of my favorite food items, merged together......, can you stand it....! I walked into a medium sized diner with a pretty friendly staff, and I noticed the special.......lobster benedict!.... "wellllp", it was on. It may be difficult to make mistake when prepping this meal. They did a great job with it, and it was delicious and plenty to eat. It's one I can recommend, if you're around town.

Loved it! We came here for lunch but I opted for the breakfast menu. I had a poppyseed bagel with a fried egg on top. This was also topped with tomatoes and spinach and fresh cheddar cheese. Everything tasted from scratch. The country potatoes are also quite amazing! The restaurant has a very home like feel as well as quaint counter and booth seating. It would probably be good to come in before or after the lunch and breakfast hours because it will be busy.

Went with my mother, she had their famous stuffed quahog and she had a hard time finding much meat in it - mostly bread. Don't know what all the fuss is about. We both had the chowder and it was pretty good. I had the cheeseburger club sandwich - I love burgers and didn't even finish it. The real kicker of this place are the hilarious toddler size bar stools! Where did they get those? It made the restaurant look like a preschool classroom with the waitress being the teacher.

Above average diner food. Daily specials at lunch are normally my favorite. The wait staff is okay but nothing to write to mother about. It is co-located with a gas station so you can fill two needs with one stop. Enjoy!

I've had takeout from this place a couple of times, all Breakfast that is. Both times, breakfast sandwiches. Two different experiences though. Last summer, my Sausage Egg & Cheese on a Bagel sandwich was excellent! Perfectly grilled Bagel with cooked to order eggs and sausage patty. All Sammys come with home fries as well. The home fries were perfectly seasoned! Excellent breakfast! Today, I dropped by to pick up a couple breakfast sandwiches, again. Didn't have as excellent of an experience as last summer, but the sandwiches were still good. Big difference though, it seems as if they pre-grilled bagels and popped em in the microwave?!?! They had the toasted corners and toasted surface as a grilled bagel would, but the bagel was hot and very soft. MUCH different than last time. The food though, was still good (minus the seemingly microwaved bagel). The take out side today, also had an odd, trash like smell to it too.

More to follow...we hit this up with a group of ten on Sunday morning. As they don't take reservations, we sent a four man recon party who put us on the list; we got there about 20 minutes ahead of the group and waited 15 minutes for the table. They didn't have one table big enough for all of us, but we sat at a couple tables and then put the old codgers at the counter. (Which they fully enjoyed) Several breakfast specials, we had several takers for the raspberry & peach pancakes (complete with raspberry flavored butter) that was sweet and a hit with the kids. Bonus note: We were told that their sister restaurant, Marshland Too does take reservations.

I was kind of shocked...to be quite honest...I tried the Food Network Clam Chowder and Stuffed Quahog place which was supposed to be the "Best Thing I Ever Ate.....totally had better. I had better Clam Chowder also in Dennis, MA. Sorry...not impressed...the wait staff was standing and chatting loudly right next to where I was sitting at the counters and stools.... I sure hope that their other meals are better.

This is a childhood favorite of mine, and I had the pleasure of returning here recently with an old friend and my father. I got a cup of chowder and a burger (which I am now realizing is what I get virtually everywhere) and it was decent. The chowder was nice and thick, but it was too heavy on potatoes and too light on clams. Probably around 6 oz. of beef, the burger didn't quite fit the ciabatta roll is was served on, though the bacon and cheese were tasty. It came with fresh cut fries and a pickle for $5.99. My friend got the exact same meal and upon trying the grilled shrimp my father got, we agreed we failed miserably. The shrimp was easily the finest grilled shrimp I have ever had. Coated in a homemade apple-butter BBQ sauce, it was perfectly cooked and massive in proportions at a paltry $8.99. Wonderful service, homemade ingredients and cheap as hell makes a classic Cape Cod diner.

We took a mid-September trip to the Cape (best time to go...still warm and less people!) and stopped in at Marshland Restaurant for lunch. Our server was so friendly and quick, and the food was great. My wife had a poppyseed bagel with egg and cheese and spinach and tomatoes, along with country potatoes. She loved it! I had the Marshland Omlette (cheese, linguica, sausage, onions, peppers), which came with country potatoes and I chose the homemade raisin toast. Everything was delicious, however, the toast was slightly burnt. I imagine this place gets crowded, but we were lucky to get there in the afternoon and get a table.

Fabulous scallops and shrimp in a local diner setting. Can't remember having more juicy or tender scallops. Almost all patrons, in pretty much a full house, were locals on our visit in early December. Locals aren't taken in by ambiance, ads, or aura. A "must visit" for our next stay in Sandwich. Has a small number of booths and tables in addition to the swivel stools at the counter. We wouldn't hesitate to grab a spot at the counter to get a meal this good.

Don't expect fine dining but it has some cheap yummy eats. More like diner fare but there is an attached bakery that's a great stop for a treat before a morning walk on the canal. Laid back atmosphere and good deals make this well worth it.

How can this place not have a review yet? The food is great here, I've have excellent meals for both breakfast and lunch. I go here whenever I can, the people are friendly and the coffee isn't bad, either. I definitely recommend it, best breakfast place I've found in the Sandwich area.

Grew up in town and eating at Marshland. It was awesome. Moved back to town recently and went in for breakfast twice. No where near as good as it used to be, food quality is way down and it is pretty expensive. Unfortunately, I will not be going back.

I might even give this place five stars, just because it's s a great value for dollar place. I've eaten here about a dozen times, and I've never been disappointed. It's just good old fashioned Cape Cod and New England food. Now mind you, this isn't my favorite type of food; I tend to go more for the exotic, but Marshland is very good quality, and I'd never snub it. Butterflied fried shrimp, excellent. Breakfast sandwich, great. Sandwiches, nice. Good bread before the meal, too. They are also very accommodating. Once I asked for something, don't remember what, but I was a little apologetic. And my response was, "No problem, this is Marshland." Indeed it is. It's a step back to a more innocent time, and that alone would be worth the visit. The only thing I would change is their policy of no credit cards. Oh well, there's an ATM next door.

I visited while on the cape and had just seen the foodnetwork show giving a thumbs up on the stuffed quohog. Well it was big, and rich with butter and Ritz crackers but didn't have much flavor. I felt guilty just having finished a 14 mile bike ride, felt like I ate a box of Ritz. I'll give them a good rating on the fish sandwich that was very fresh and light.
