Haven't been to this restaurant in almost 2 years now. In the past the cashiers were extremely rude and would ignore you even though most of the time they were standing around talking to friends or making a personal phone call. Another thing I disliked about this place was how long they would take to make a sandwich. Even when they were empty it would take over 30 minutes. From reading recent reviews it seems nothing has changed. My sister also stopped coming to this restaurant due to the attitudes of the cashiers. Glad I stopped coming here!

I was craving a Cuban Sandwich when you can't get in my own neighborhood so I did a yelp search and found Tostado A Sandwich Bar.. I went in after finally finding a parking spot.. To find out that they don't take debit or credit cards. . so not being from the area I asked the girl behind the counter where the closest atm was .. To be pointed across the street to the gas station. . Well for all that taken care of and ordered my Cuban Sandwich and loved it. . it was my 1st time being there and won't be my last... I intend on checking out the whole menu eventually. .. Very much worth checking out. .

I've only been here once but I had to review! I had a smoothie and it was delicious...it had bananas and strawberries...mind you, I don't really like sweetened smoothies...I appreciate the sweetness of natural fruit over sweeteners...BUT this was so good that I drank the whole thing! Will make a stop here again soon! By the way, the woman at the counter spoke little to no English but she was very sweet.

Great service. Love El Dominicano Sandwich. Now with yaroas. Tres leches cake is also very good. Good price .

When you walk in you see the sad shell of what was once a proud establishment. The walls are caked in dirt, the paint is chipped and dilapidated. Most of the displays look empty for ages. The ice cream unit looks like its being used for storage. Where there were once fresh pastries are now old candy bars. With this in mind, i wasn't expecting much, but i was VERY pleasantly surprised to see the sandwich was actually quit vibrant and lively. Quality of the sandwich was surprisingly better than i expected. It was a good turn of events because by the look of this place they seem on their last leg. Would I go back? probably not. The passion is sucked out of this place. At this point they are just existing out of routine. It is obvious the owner has mentally moved on and thrown in the towel.

Tostado is such a great little shop. It's located within walking distance of Forest Hills and there's also lots of street parking. There isn't any indoor seating, but they do have a counter where you can stand and eat plus two tables outside. Everyone behind the counter that I've come in contact with is super friendly. Yes, their English is limited, but since the menus have everything in English & Spanish, I've never had an issue. I haven't had anything there that I didn't love. For sandwiches, I've had the swiss chicken, ham w/ Dominican cheese, Cubano... For smoothies, I've had almost all, but my favorite is by far the soursop.. Each sip is like being back in Trinidad :-) The ONLY downside is that they are cash only.

Know that I'm damn picky about my sandwiches (and date a somewhat arrogant New Yorker who's even more picky!) so 3 stars is a really good review from me... We literally just ordered from this place today for the first time (delivery to J.P.) and we went for 2 sandwiches to split - the Tostado Club and the Cuban. I also ordered a strawberry smoothie but then changed my mind at the last second on the phone and asked the lady to take the smoothie off the order. 40mins later the delivery guy shows up with sandwiches AND smoothie in hand! My boyfriend explained that we didn't order the smoothie and before he could even finish his sentence the kindly delivery guy said "no problem! I give it to you anyway!". No argument. Awesome. Coolest dude ever. The club sandwich was jam-packed with tender meat, melted cheese, toasted bread and just the right amount of ketchup and mayo to give it the moisture it needed. Man was that thing filling. I couldn't get through half of it. I personally did not like the Cuban as I found it to be really dry, BUT...I have never had a Cuban sandwich before and, honestly, I like my veggies to outweigh my meat when it comes to sandwiches, so even the most delectable Cuban sandwich on the planet would probably not be an absolute favorite of mine. So, it's not you, Cuban, it's me. In the end it worked out because my boyfriend enjoyed the Cuban and I loved the Club so we were both satisfied. And we were fighting over the strawberry smoothie - sooooooo good! I guess I just wish i loved meat more. A loaded chicken, pork and ham club is more than my tummy can comfortably take...but that's a compliment to Tostado. I would definitely be interested in trying a couple of their other sandwiches some time and their fresh beverages are clearly to die for. Supposedly the desserts are delicious too. Bottom-line: It's definitely a great sandwich place - try it!

So in Boston a good sandwich is easy to come by I have learned! I go to tostados around the corner from me in JP and I met the owner and he was an awesome guy! The sandwich was awesome the smoothies are good and its pretty good little boston chain. The whole catch is the sandwiches are like latina/caribbean/sm panini's. IDK but there good! A little on the this cant be good for me side but only because you can see yourself getting hooked on them. So if you want a good sandwich but dont want a hoagie/sub got there. Try them you'll at lest be satisfied.

I loved eating my toasted and delicious Cuban Sandwich while sitting in the window and watching people go by. In fact, I was on my way to meet someone in downtown Boston for lunch, and was taking the subway, but when I smelled the great aroma coming out of this place it drew me in --- like Wimpy to a hamburger. So yeah, I had two lunches that day. It was worth it. This place is great if all you care about is a great Cuban sandwich (it's really just a takeout place -- though others eat inside and out).

The sandwiches are good, and the prices typical for the area, and all in all it's a good concept (which is why it is franchised all over the damn place), but... my god, you guys have to move faster. I am not looking for McDonald's speed. I'm reasonable about the tradeoff between made-to-order quality and time. But well over 20 minutes after my order, when there's not another customer in the place, there should be either signs of my food coming, or some acknowledgment that it's taking too long. The business here is essentially take-out (though there are a few tables), mostly sandwiches, generally a lunch place. In other words, people are going to stop in while in the middle of their day, not when they want to relax over dinner. This fact has not sunk in at Tostado. It;s a shame, because I do business regularly in a place that makes Tostado a no-brainer for lunch. Unfortunately, I can't really go there anymore, because they just take too damn long.

Seriously?! Has anyone here had a sandwich before? No, but really? I have no idea how these reviews happened. Like none, at all. This place is gross. The meat is bad, the sauces (mostly ketchup) are bad, the cheese is...well, its hard to ruin cheese, but you get the idea. Ordered pickup from here, roommates and I got 3 different things, and each hated our own as well as one another's. The meat smelled like something really really funky and the vegetarian sandwich, which only had tomatoes, onions, and cheese in it, was so full of ketchup you could barely taste anything else. By far the grossest experience ever. Seriously, how does someone mess up a SANDWICH this badly?! HOW.

Fantastic option if you need to kill time @ Forrest Hills Been meaning to try this place for a long time and finally had a chance when I got to Forrest Hills T station about ~30 minutes before the bus I wanted was scheduled to head out. Walked over, got & ate a delicious cuban sandwich and walked back just in time to catch the #50 bus. My only regret is ordering a flavored soda, I'm an idiot for not getting a smoothie or juice drink. I'll be back soon to fix that omission.

I saw this place on one of my lovely drives home from the Dedham mall. I popped in for a menu and the owner was freshly out - he handed me a card and told me to come back later. But before I left I took a glance at their brief, but appetizing menu - written in chalk on the wall - and knew I had to get a Cubano. That night. And being that Tostado delivers, I couldn't ask for any more joy than to savor a delicious Cuban in my own home. And this was a superb sandwich, rivaling those of Miami's in the heart of Jamaica Plain. I think I've found a new favorite sandwich place and a new addiction.

I love Tostado's food! But having become a fan, my problem is that whenever I've tried to call in an order in the evening, my Spanish is insufficient to place an order! The phone gets handed off to someone who's supposedly better to handle the "gringos" (and I've heard that word on the line, and still persisted), and yet I still can't seen to get my order through. Tonight I said "completo y cubano", and still couldn't complete an order. I'm bummed, and at the same time upset that only true Spanish-speakers get into this church!

Let me preference this review by stating I like this type of food. With that said, I am not a fan of Tostado. I ordered the "Tostado Club" (Chicken, Pork, Ham, Cheese, Tomato, Ketchup, May, Onion) and didn't think it was that good. The restaurant itself is dark and dreary, a machine was running in the background which was deafening, and I didn't find the staff all that friendly.
