Worst restaurant in Wollaston. The boss was sooo rude after she heard that I got a DIARRHEA she said no one's ever complained about the food, and she was Racist after she knew that I didn't speak Cantonese. I'm so surprised that they're still in business after reading those complains of how people got sick. and how Everyone there is RUDE!!

How can you not like a place that serves Chinese food until 1? Honestly, that gives them one of their stars. The experience was okay. Now, keep in mind we showed up at 10:30 and I wasn't in the best of moods. There was a DJ, and he was so loud my wife and I could barely talk to each other across the table. Hell, the owner went up to him at least 3 times while we were there...not that he turned it down much if at all. Th food hot but the timing was really off. Our apps came out almost immediately after the soups; we'd barely even touched the soup before apps arrived. Our main dish took forever to come though. I really judge a Chinese restaurant by it's Hot & Sour soup--this one was only okay, the added red pepper flakes really took away from the flavor and made it almost unbearable to eat. The Moo Shi was fine, although the amount of sauce they provided was almost non-existent (not to mention we didn't get any with the Moo Shi we took home), and the pancakes were actually dry flour tortillas. Now that I don't live in Quincy, I don't see myself coming back unless I'm really craving Chinese food when an important game is on or I'm going through the area late at night.

Service was disappointing. We requested oolong tea when seated but the waiter brought over pu-erh tea. We said we asked for oolong tea, and the waiter said..I got pu-erh tea right over here and do u want to just take it...and I replied no, we do want the oolong tea we asked for...so the waiter went back in to switch for us...but when he came back out, he basically just slammed the the tea pot onto our table ...honestly , if u think the types of tea don't matter, just don't even offer a variety of them. Otherwise, just bring over whatever customer asks for! And the dim sum culture is not just made up by food but also by the quality of tea...anyways, food was below average too and got a lot msg in it...we don't think we will go back anymore

I don't ever write Yelp reviews unless there's something about the place that really makes me feel inclined to do so. Food is greasy, deep fried, and nothing special. 3 of the 4 people in our party, myself included, got sick the following day, which seems to be a theme with the bad reviews here. Save yourself the trip and the time on the toilet.

I don't know why this place only has 3 stars. Food was way better than any Chinese I've ever had. Service was fine, I mean it's not fine dining. Happy. Will be back!

  • sherry p.

the 3 star is because the bartender is really nice and the food is good. But somebody told me that I cant order food at 12:10 over the phone to dine in when they close at 1. I knew they were going to close soon thats why I called ahead. I am aware that dimsum takes 20mins' all I wanted was a drink and a few bites but that did not seemed welcomed.

My husband and I will not be back. The food is okay, but the attitude of the wait staff is abysmal. We've gone there a few times and they don't make you feel welcome, but the food was okay so we went back. We love dim sum. When we do go there they always ask us if we want to sit at the bar. We went today for lunch and it was particularly unfriendly. It took some time for them to notice we were there, the manager told one of the staff to bring us tea, and that took me asking again. I asked one of the staff for a glass of water, she gave us a dirty look, and I think my husband heard her say something about lofan. Not sure, but my husband, who is usually mild manner lost it. The food is okay, but I've had better. We don't need to go to a neighborhood restaurant that isn't friendly. Cross The China off the list.

I'll admit I was put off by some of the horrible reviews (all of which seem quite ridiculous, to be honest) but it seems most of the bad reviews are actually for the bar. I can't really comment on that since I only went there for dim sum. THE DIM SUM IS AWESOME. That's all you really need to know about this place. Maybe the Chinese food is great; maybe it sucks. I have no idea but what I do know is that they have just as good, if not better dim sum than you can find in Chinatown. I said it. They do have carts and it is such a small place that you don't have to run across a huge floor to flag someone down. Also, everything is fresh. If they don't have what you're looking for now, they'll tell you how long it will be until its ready. The staff are so nice, but limited English here. Everything we had was fantastic. The char siu bao was fluffy and different from most places in that the char siu is thinly sliced as opposed to the usual chunks, but it was sooo good. The chicken feet were also a bit spicy, which wasn't expected, but they were very good too. The har gao was great. The skin a bit chewier than most places but it held everything together nicely and the insides were perfect. The tripe was fantastic! Very tender and gingery and cooked perfectly. I believe they have dim sum everyday from 9am-3pm. We went on a Tuesday and there was no wait. The China. I mean, even the name is great. Can't wait to come back.

Come for the dim sum brunch. It's all super tasty and as long as you're careful it's very affordable. Had some pork buns, some different types of shumai and quite a bit more. I'm sold.

I can't help but laugh at some of these reviews... no ketchup on the table and it isn't a sports bar??? Ummm.... at the China the game is playing IN THE BATHROOMS on a flat screen. Enough said. This place is fun. The atmosphere is relaxed, food is good, drinks are strong. You can watch the game, play Keno, eat General Tso's Pizza, and drink scorpion bowls. What's not to like? This place is open late... till like 1 or something, not 11, that was just while they were opening. I came here to see the sister restaurant of my (near) hometown fav, The Golden China, on my way from the North Shore to Walpole. Well worth the stop. Maybe keep up with the negative reviews so this place can be my hidden MA gem :)

I went back with my family memberswho had another living social for dinner. The staff is very inattentive and lazy they don't really want to serve the "Asians" probably b/c they think we are bad tippers. They just sit there and when you flag them they don't want to move. The food was just mediocre and more geared towards American even though we ordered items that seemed more "Asian". The chinese brocolli was overcooked; the king do gwut was soaked in sugar sauce. When we paid with the living social they deducted the wrong amount again. It's like they purposely do that and hope that people don't notice. Also, they changed the wording on the living social to EXCLUDE DIM SUM AFTER WE BOUGHT IT. Sketchy business move. Overall, wouldn't come back for the regular food or dimsum. There are more places in the area for better food and service.

Food is decent but service is TERRIBLE! They always tend to be understaffed. In addition, the staff is very abrasive. We made a reservation for a large crowd so they knew in advance and we still had to order drinks from the bar which honestly wasnt much better.

  • Captain C.

Ate here reluctantly because the nearby place we wanted to eat was too crowded. Next time I'll be more patient. I shit liquid fire for the next three days...and counting! I'm suffering on the toilet as I write this review! And it happened to my girlfriend too! While I can not be 100% sure that The China is the cause of my gastric distress, the facts that it was the only variation from our normal diet, that it happened to both of us, and that when I came to Yelp, I read more than one review that mentioned spoiled meat, I have to assume that it is. Oh well...you win some, you lose some. I'll chalk this up to a loss, and move on. I should have know better. Good luck!

I have dim sum from here frequently. It's third on my list for dun sum in Quincy after China pearl and east Chinatown or whatever... Because it's close to my parents'. I have tried other things from here and it was not bad, but not good. Dim sum is the most authentic Chinese food. The ambiance is weird. You see people that clearly have no idea what the f dim sum is. Which is fine, try it, it's good. Another yelper mentioned this place is confused, I agree. Bar? Dim sum? Figure out who you are catering to. Young hip crowd? Old Chinese people?

This is my spot. Good place after work to catch a game with a couple friends and have a drink or 3. Prices are pretty good compared to some of the other places in the area. The staff here is always friendly and the manager/owner Judy is awesome. Can get a lite crazy sometimes but overall it's a pretty good place to stop in. Good Food, Good Drinks, Good Service

Unacceptable. Poor practices. CLUELESS about how to run a "sports bar". There are RULES to running a sports bar. Here are a few: Ketchup MUST be on the table. Salt MUST be on the table Soda refills MUST BE FREE. the "China" failed on ALL of those. Give me a break. They told me they don't give free refills. Are they out of their effing minds? because of that policy, they are getting THIS review. what a great decision on their part huh? My fries came with a small side dish with ONE "spray" of Ketchup. Almost as if the waiter was unfamiliar with french fries and didn't know about the value of Ketchup. When I asked for more, he added a second small "spray" of Ketchup on the dish. I finally had to ask the bartender for a Ketchup bottle. CRAZY HUH? and no salt on the table, some sports bar huh? Oh. and lets not forgot, they want me to PAY for a *&^% soda refill? They should immediately close-down and dismantle this travesty of a "sports bar". I recommend that the owner never be allowed to open anything again and should be forced to lecture nationwide to other start-up bars on how NOT to do business. Life is too short. This bar made me lose some of my faith in humanity.

How has NO ONE written about the four rat tail mullet server?? She is the WORST server there by far. We have come here a few times. Mostly for drinks because they are super strong and the prices aren't horrible. The food is horrendous. We have tried many dishes from this place and they are all equally disgusting. The worst had to have been the general tso chicken. It was like gross ass mcdonalds chicken nugget things weird chilies and weird cheese. YUCK!!!! Oh not to mention they are always over at your table bothering if you want to order more and as soon as you finish eating they bring over your check as to get you out of there even though the place is empty. My advice to you- order take in from your fave restaurant and then go there for the drinks.

Not sure why all the bad reviews I think some people just love to be negative.. The freshest Chinese food I've had in Quincy. The Chicken fingers are A1. Huge too. All this place needs is keno and longer hours and they are on their way. Oh and prob less negative reviews by people who don't know what they are talking about Loved the Mai Thais too

I just gave an extra star from my previous one star rating because I like there dragon honing ,and the restaurant does have a clean apearance . I think they probably have better drinks than food . However I do not drink , nor do I recommend going there for food . But a great location for a nice bar. I recommend for the owners to keep clean fresh oil in the fryolators . The fried food left the worst after taste. and my burger was unexceptable to. I will not give it another chance . But I did give you one more star to be nice :) happy 4th of July.

Two stars for the dim sum .... No stars for the service. I've been here a few times for dim sum and to be honest the dim sum is very good. I would dine here with my family and girlfriend when we visit my parents. The first few times the service was acceptable, but for the past few weeks that I've been dining in here that short Asian waitress has been so rude. I mean I'm not here to bash on her but she needs a reality check, cause I came here and I'm paying for my food .. She can change her attitude abit because shes so rude to the point where she yelled at my mother for asking to refill our tea? Okay I understand that there's ony like two waiters ... Hire more people. I understand that it's hard waiting on so many tables but was it necessary for that lady to yell at my mother for that.. Not just even yelling, after refilling the tea she slams it down on the table rather than placing it down? The hot tea splattered onto my girlfriends lap.. Can my girlfriend get a sorry? Nope... Nothing, she just gave us a look and said move over next time? Move over??? Aren't you supposed to say sorry and not slam the tea down on our table thank you... Unbelievable.. Then there was a time where I came in for take out... Can I say.. Nightmare.. The lady working the front ... I'm guessing she's either the boss or the manager. Her attitude needs to change too, I don't really care who she was or what her purpose was but she has to be more respectful when customers are here. I was waiting for my take out which was dim sum cause the rest of their food is not edible sorry to say just my opinion, and she has the audacity to rush me to leave...... Do you like want my business or not? How are you to rush me about my order.. When I didn't even rush you for your service.. I ordered my food at around 11 A.M. On a Saturday and I figured it'll be done by like 11:30 A.M. So I get there wait another half an hour .. And then I hear her rushing me.. Well nice if that's how she likes to do business good for her because that can get her very far.. In business nope not really more like business closing down. Well that was the end of it. I paid and left no thank you.. But who cares didn't want it anyways if it didn't mean anything. Dear The China, I like your dim sum but I do not like your service... Please hear my prayers and either change the attitude of workers, fire them, or do something . I still want my dim sum fix But that isn't going to happen if that short Asian waitress doesn't get the boot.. And just our luck we always have her as our server........ - Jay No hard feelings, I just want my dim sum and everyone to be appreciated and happy

We went for the first time today for Dim sum. We were seated quickly at one of there tall bar tables. The service was a little on the slow side. But we think that is because it is tough for them to move the dim sum carts around in the full dining room. The dim sum was very good and served good and hot. The prices for what we had was about what you would pay in China town in Boston. We will try it for dinner on there menu items soon.

Came here for the first time. A bunch of my friends eventually joined. The waiter could not handle such a large party. He kept yelling at us that he could only get things "one by one" he barley spoke English but one of his nice co workers came by to bail him out a few times. I found this place to be VERY SHADY. They charged us for each soda water almost $3 each. They added the tip into each persons check in tiny print without telling us. Many people tipped 20% on top of the grand total despite the service being horrendous. I will not be back to this dump. I will say my friends liked the hot and sour soup. Everything else was JUST OK except the service, and ambience which was terrible.

    1) One of our steaming dishes set the fire alarm off on its way to our table. The fire department came in with full gear and looked around. I suspect they may get fined... After the night we had there, I hope they do. 2) Some of the food ordered was truly BAD. The kind of BAD that takes your appetite away. Of the 4 dishes ordered: 2 were almost untouched, the other 2 were decent at best. I am not a picky eater, this was just not good. Far-from-fresh and bland are appropriate descriptions. 3) The BAD food is not nearly as concerning as the way we were treated. The manager came over after the whole fire alarm incident and asked about the untouched food. She apologized as it was cleared from the table, but she was unpleasant and a little bit rude. Strangely, we were not asked if we wanted something else instead, nor were we told that the uneaten food would be removed from the bill. Either would have been fine, but with the terrible quality of both the food and experience (mind-numbing fire alarm...), some sort of remedy was definitely appropriate. I do not generally expect anything like this, but if the manager clears the uneaten food from the table and apologizes, offer us an alternative dish at least. 4) When the full bill arrived, our group of 4 was kinda shocked and definitely annoyed. My gf decided to speak to the manager. I'm not kidding, the manager said the following: "You just don't have the right taste buds to enjoy Chinese food." Yea... 5) Best of luck to anyone who tries this place.

Came here on a Thursday with my boyfriend who has a broken foot. The door man was super nice held the doors open, helped him to the bar and offered to hold onto his crutches for him while we ate. Food and service was great but the stand out moment was the customer service the door man displayed. Nice to see some genuine people in customer service! Bravo!

My parents and I had a great dim sum brunch here on Sat. Living in Quincy and coming from China, I can honestly say this place is the best dim sum place I visited so far. Can not speak for drink or regular dinner yet. but the dim sum is definitely worth a try - plus you got to watch world cup and enjoy the open window with nice breeze came in..

This is a great place to eat or just hang out with friends and watch the game. Good service, great atmosphere and really good good, no matter what you get. I love there diversified menu. This place also has amazing dim sum that they serve every day. I will definitely keep coming back!

The food was good, I'll give them that but they don't give free refills on soft drinks which is almost unheard of at a bar, especially when the food and mixed drink tab was more than $80. We were charged $18 for 8 sodas for three of us when they should have only charged us for 3 for a total of about $8. I dine out regularily and have never been charged for refills before. When I brought this to the manager's attention I was told that I was wrong and that most bars and restuarants charge for refills which in my experience is not the case, in fact I've found the the oppisite to be true. When I named places I've had free refills she claimed the Fours is "corporate" and could afford to give refills for free, When I told her that the Fat Cat and Assembly which are small businesses that never charge she rolled her eyes and didn't have an answer. Also I was charged for a pizza which they can't yet make because they don't have the the oven up and running, it was not removed from the bill and I had to ask again in order to get it taken off. In my opinion they should have removed the the refill charges and told us that in the future they would be charged. This was a bad business decision in my opinion and as a result neither me nor my two friends will go there again.

This place is simply horrible. I visited for the first time on a Saturday night a week ago. The restaurant was usually slow for a Saturday and after this experience I can completely see why !!! My boyfriend and I along with two other couples were looking to enjoy a scorpion bowl. This was one of he worst I have ever had. Expensive , and all juice ! The service couldn't have been less interested in our party. In order to get another drink or to order anything for that matter you would be expected to call one of the 5 servers standing in the middle of the room over to you - otherwise they wouldn't have approached the table. We also literally watched while one of the servers clearing a table poured a cup of water SOMEONE HAD DRANK FROM onto the table to wipe it down!!! So disgusting. The interior is just ridiculous .... It's fitting for an American cuisine sports bar ,not a Chinese food restaurant ! This establishment should be closed down by the board of health what a terrible addition to Quincy !!

Do you have a non-Asian friend that would like to try authentic Dim Sum but is intimidated by 'culture shock'? This place is perfect for the uninitiated Dim Summer (available during weekend morning/afternoons). There are three aspects of The China that will support your endeavor. First, the staff, while authentically Cantonese Chinese, for the most part all speak English and can describe the (average) dishes that they push around in the carts. You can tell that they are making an effort to attract non-Chinese in addition to Chinese. Second, the restaurant is a mash up of Boston Sports bar and Chinese dim sum - a concept that I have never seen. This mash up would make DJ Girl Talk proud, and for that reason alone, The China gets a plus one for redefining social norms. There was an unusual harmony between the two cultures; white people occupied the bar and enjoyed the Pats game while Chinese/Asian people enjoyed the authentic food at the dinner tables. Third, this is a newly renovated establishment. As such, it is cleaner than many sticky, dated and more authentic dim sum joints. Go for it. Open up your friend's palate.

I was tipped off to the new Wollaston Square place last month. The bar is where I've dined 3 times now in roughly 4 weeks. So the drinks are City Prices, not Suburb Prices-- but are good. And cops are frigging everywhere like bugs, so you can't get too loose anyway if you have wheels. Which brings up parking. Not their fault, but... Inadequate. 5 adjacent restaurants plus commerce leaves junk for street parking. The parking in the rear has a sentry. It's a dumpster at the entrance/egress with a fence that swings to block access a bit. Do we want to stroll by that after dinner? Is there a raccoon or a pothead teen or a derelict urinating or ...? That is what people think. It will ooze and smell in summer. Plus: eyesore? The bar staff are quick, attentive, polite, genuine, attractive, and intelligent. Wow. The food? I haven't sampled much beyond my favorites. My brother has been there many times as he lives around the corner-- says the Chinese Pizza is too sweet. He maintains the fried shrimps are 7/10. My faves are Orange Beef = 10/10, House Fried Rice = 9/10, and Boneless Spare Ribs 10/10. I am a on the fence fan. I want to like them and make them my go-to guy. I gave this new place 3 tries. Not a lot of girls to mingle or converse with-- at all. There are 2 colleges in a 5 mile radius. But forget that, Comrade Bro's. Couples or dudes is what it is. But it's a Sports Bar, right? That's normal. And TVs abound ! Same size as mine, 52" but times like 30? Another Wow Factor. I look forward to trying the place with friends again when Spring-Summer arrives because their façade has those 20-25 foot long panel window-walls that open up like that stuck up Tavern place across the street but at least twice as long anyway. This place is a new effort. Kinks, cooks, and lingua probs I have read. No opinion on that yet. I do not really believe it. Haven't yet taken up a table. Built in tip rumors? Many reviews mention that. I only vaguely noticed my totals, at a glance, that it felt slightly of a rub. City Drink Prices prob. Wasn't pozzy on it or inclined to check line entries, but that is a deal breaker if true for parties under 6. I don't believe that rumor. For any business that isn't a hotel, it's really just not smart because the word gets out. Ah the restrooms. Cannot vouch for the Ladies' Room, however the few trips to mine were fine. Big plus apart from the cleanliness aspect... The TV's in there too so you don't miss a beat with that Red Sox game or Bruins playoff jaunt. Felt like family in there. Mahalo and Hse hse.

If I hadn't had such a great initial experience I probably wouldn't be so disappointed. The wait staff are nice enough, but the food has taken a gradual downward turn the more I've gone. I was really hoping to make this my go to place for Chinese, but the fresh Lomein I had that first time is now bland and greasy like all the other Americanized Chinese places near me. I've gotten a few things but I really lived their general Gao, but even there I've noticed a decline towards more sinewy tendons and chunks of fried breaking than actual chicken. Quincy is not wanting when it comes to Asian cuisine options, so I'm pretty sad that the china isn't standing up to the challenge as I had hoped. This would get 2 stars, but I did have fun at New Years Eve this year, so they get points for that, I just hope they can step it up on the food quality, so I can go back again.

The food is fine, but it's Wollaston! There's a ton of GOOD and even GREAT Chinese food. This felt a lot more like Chinese food for Americans. If you want Chinese food and to watch a game, I guess this is the place for you. Go a bit down the street to Quincy Dynasty on Billings - much more authentic and better food for the same price.

Well I found out the hard way on why it's not a good idea to order Pizza at a Chinese food restaurant. I'm not sure what kind of bar this is. It seems like they try and blend a Chinese restaurant with an American bar, where one would come to watch a football game. As a result you get a weird blend of food (hence pizza with teriyaki chicken). Now in my defense, I have never seen pizza at a Chinese food restaurant so i needed to try it...and, well it was exactly what you would think. I also had tired more than just pizza but the food I felt was very average. Drinks were...meh. Nothing great but nothing awful. Staff was nice enough but could not for the life of themselves remember what we had ordered. They also have keno which kept us occupied. All in all it's not a bad place but I would recommend many other spots before I end up at China.

Just got home from my first time here and I can honestly say I loved it. I always feel a little sketchy trying places on Hancock st (other than assembly) but this place did not disappoint. The staff was more than friendly and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. The menu was huge and pretty diverse for an Asian restaurant. Prices are extremely reasonable. I got General gou's chicken pizza which was awesome. Great choices for draft beers and a good drink menu. It was Monday night so it was kind of dead in there but I'm definitely looking forward to coming back on a weekend. If you're ever in the area I highly suggest stopping by this place.

Don't eat here! The food was absolutely terrible. Our waitress barely spoke English and was not at all helpful with the menu. The management was horrible and treated us as if we were crazy when we said our food was bad. I was even told that because I didn't combine my own vegetables and meat on the same plate, I hadn't prepared my own dish right, and so I couldn't judge whether or not I actually liked the food. Let alone the fact that the meat was inedible and couldn't even be cut with a knife. I do not recommend this place at all.

Been coming to this place weekly since it opened. The food is great, good drinks, and an awesome atmosphere. Everybody is friendly and attentive and goes out of their way to make each experience better than the last. I'll continue taking my weekly trip there, no doubt about it.

So, the food is SO good. BUT...the service is awful! I always get the SAME dude. He rushes me, and whom ever I am with, he stands over our effing shoulder while we tip him, and he is ALWAYS on his phone! So unprofessional. I was not impressed. The bad service alone is enough of a reason to not go back.

Went here for dim sum last weekend for their grand opening. The foods here are ok (basically it's the same dim sum foods everywhere). The restaurant was empty when we came in on a Sunday morning. The services was ok until when I pay for the meal. I put down three bucks for tipping and the server stop me from leaving and demand more money. Since when is tipping is a requirement at restaurant??? I was so surprise and mad that the waitress even pulled this trick. Totally rude and unprofessional. I will not go to this restaurant ever again!!!!

Awesome salt and pepper calimari! Awesome beef and chicken teriyaki! Not so awesome general gaus pizza, it tasted weird and might not of been cooked enough...do not get the general gaus pizza.

Thoroughly enjoyed our drinks, chicken lo-main, beef teryiaki, sat at the bar, was a nice time...one thing I didn't care to see was the bartender eatting dinner...should have their food out "back" not in customer's view (in my opinion..I'd go back, surely...food was great, drinks were great...

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a LONG time. I won't be eating here again. First off, the service ranged from surly, to confused, to incomprehensible. Requests for drinks and food orders were barked at us rather then asked of us. We placed our drink orders first, then perused the extensive and culturally varied menu (Chinese, Polynesian, American Classic, etc) for maybe two minutes before the waiter came back for our order. Though we asked for a couple more minutes to decide, the waiter responded in such a way that made my girlfriend so uncomfortable she rushed her order, though she was not ready. Well, somewhere around 90 seconds after she ordered her beef lo mein, it arrived at the table, well before the drinks did. Food arriving before drinks is a huge no-no in my book, but being a new place I was willing to overlook it. When we asked for our drinks, the waiter chuckled and said something to the effect of, "Yeah, she's [the bartender] really slow" but made no effort to check up on our drinks or facilitate them getting to us. Great, thanks. What I am not willing to overlook is spoiled meat and that is what came out. It was rancid. We each took a bite and immediately spit it out, recognizing what we were served. I'm not sure if they were using spoiled beef intentionally to save on food cost, or if the staff was not flipping the product correctly and we wound up with week old stuff at the bottom of the pan, but I have a hard time believing that whomever prepared this dish could not smell or see the quality of the beef they prepared. We returned the beef lo mein (returning food is a habit neither of us ever engage in) and went with the veggie lo mein instead, to be safe. The veggie lo mein was mediocre at best, not at all flavorful, and the vegetables were closer to raw than they were to cooked. The drinks were pretty good, I will say. They feature a decent selection of local beers on tap and they make a strong mixed drink. The bar atmosphere is raucous, with the loud and boisterous working-class patrons spilling out into the dining area, as there is no separation between the bar and the dining room. For example, we had to navigate around the flailing arms of a seemingly-intoxicated guest as the hostess escorted us to our table when we first arrived. All in all, while I can't recommend The China, I will say that if you HAVE to go to this Chinese restaurant and sports bar, stick to the drinks and fill up on food somewhere else.

I have been to the China twice in the past month. The first time my boyfriend and I went for dinner. Food was good but the service was just OK. It was very difficult to understand our waitress but we managed. The second we went for dim sum because it was on phantom gourmet. We were greeted at the door by a friendly woman and she seated us. It became disastrous from there. We have never experienced dim sum and had no idea how the whole process worked. I tried to ask the waitress if there was a menu and if she could explain how we order and she just kept talking to me in a different language. I could not understand her so I politely asked her again and she kept repeating herself. At this point, I felt extremely frustrated. Another woman walked over with her dim sum cart and I asked her what a specific food item was and she explained it to me in cantonese. I tried asking her again and I got the same response so we just guessed and picked one. I had no idea what I consumed. Do these people not understand the concept of food allergies? What if I was allergic to something and noone was able to tell me what I was eating?! The dipping sauce she gave us was oil with alot of chili flakes and it was too hot for my liking. I tried asking for soy sauce on the side and the waitress replied to me with a big fat, "No". I asked her again thinking maybe she didn't understand my request and she replied with, "No". I understand that i am in a cantonese restaurant, but that does not mean i should have to guess what i am eating and feel completely helpless. In case they forgot, it is a restaurant and you are there to serve me as I pay for my experience and food. The entire experience was a nightmare for us. I will definitely not be returning for dim sum!!

My family has been in house to eat three times and once take out. Every time the food was great. We had dim sum twice and tonight had a really good meal. we had two combo meals and a platter of veg lo mien as well as a hot and sour soup. I love their house hot tea! the veg lo mien was delicious, fresh tasting, and not greasy. my husband had a combo with boneless spare ribs, chicken and broccoli and fried rice. He is the pickiest Chinese Food eater and he loved it! the hot and sour soup wasn't the greatest, but it was decent and spicy. Mom had chicken fingers, pork strips and fried rice and enjoyed hers as well. my daughter and I have been twice for dim sum, and it was really yummy. It was a little hard to know what we were eating as the servers really didn't speak English. They tried really hard but ended up getting someone who did speak better English. All in all, everyone on staff was nice. The location for us is great because we live a 5 minute walk away. :) Good luck to The China!

Not sure the reason for the low reviews. The food and atmosphere are both exceptional. Service is just ok, yet not bad. Portion sizes are generous, many of tvs throughout. I especially love their egg rolls. Give them a try and you'll be back.

Something to initially note is the lack of good reviews. I regret not paying attention to that fact before trying dinner here. It would definitely be in your best interest to not dine here. My dad and I were on our way to get dinner at another favorite restaurant in the area when we decided to try The China because we had never tried it. However, the service rapidly declined once we were seated. Our waiter did just that, waited, at the table across from us, clicking his pen and avoiding eye contact until we put our menus down. As so as we did so, he swooped in and took our order. He fumbled constantly with this pad and paper (you would think he would be ready to take your order after waiting there doing nothing for so long, but I digress.) We ordered some hot tea, the spring rolls, the chicken and mushroom soup and vegetable lo mein. Not much to mess up. But in that respect, they went above and beyond. the tea and soup came out first. Tea was fine, you can't really mess that up. But the soup was abhorrent. Canned mushrooms, chicken that was beyond flavorless, and the broth had a lovely layer of oil on the top. Really disappointing, but the least of our complaints. The spring rolls were inedible. They were greasy and flavorless. literally the worst I've ever had in my entire life, and I live in Quincy. I know spring rolls. The lo mein was just as bad. I can't even fathom how they could call this lo mein, never mind identify it as a food substance. The canned mushroom made an encore performance and they were just as bad as the first time. The peppers were slimy and far from fresh, very disappointing. And that's literally it. there were no redeeming qualities. At this point, something needed to be done. My father was formerly a professional chef and spent a number of years in the restaurant business, but does not make a habit of being overly critical of everywhere we eat. However, he does know what he's talking about and he and I both agree that this was feasibly some of the worst food we've eaten in a long time, maybe ever. Upon agreeing that this meal was unacceptable we decided to call the manager over. My father explained that nothing tasted good at all, excepting maybe the soup (and even that was really pushing it.). The manager's kind demeanor quickly changed. She immediately asked what was wrong with the food and we repeated that it simply was not good. She then preceded to take the food back to the kitchen and upon her return she said that the cook had said that the meal was fine. She went on to explain that that was simply the way the way that they made the food there, and that we were wrong. The food was taken back to the kitchen and my father asked how much we owed them. Keep in mind, that the only thing that was eaten was some of the soup, only one of the two spring rolls was even touched and the lo mein had barely a dent. The manager then asked again what was wrong with the food. We replied again that it simply didn't taste good. We asked again how much we owed and she replied that she would be back with the check. Upon her ever sassy return and on check dropped on the table later, we reviewed the bill. Which just so happened to be the check for the adjacent table and was twice as much as our bill. Bravo The China, doing very well. Upon righting one of the many many wrongs that occurred tonight, we were presented with the full bill. The full bill for a meal including two dishes that were completely untouched. A little over zealous on their part, if you ask me. We paid and left, and went where we initially intended to go. By the way, Pad Thai down the street is phenomenal. All in all, an awful experience. Bad food and even worse service. The staff were rude and unqualified and the food was inedible. A real shame seeing as it looks like such a nice place. Quincy and Wollaston are full of really great places to get Asian food as The China did not meet that challenge at all.

I've been to this place a few times and each time it's a new experience. The first time, it didn't stand out much. Typical restaurant where the waitress and waiter were pretty nice but not overly helpful or careless. The food was decent but the drinks were weak. The waiter almost didn't give my boyfriend his change back and was keeping what would've been about a 40% tip until my boyfriend asked him about the change. The dumplings we got that time were simply way too doughy. The second time, we went later and only sat at the bar. The staff was pretty friendly, the food was again tasty but didn't necessarily jump out of the water as being amazing. The drinks were a little better this time but still overall weak. The third time, we tried the dim sum lunch special. As we walked in, the lady offered us the high chairs after we mentioned we wanted to sit by the bar. She said the view was much better by the windows and we would like that better. It seemed like there was no questioning that so we didn't fight it. The seats were great regardless. First, the pricing for the food is phenomenal. We were able to get a few different dishes and got a pretty good filling for only about $20 for two including tip! The only complaint this time is that the staff was not very helpful even after mentioning this was our first time having dim sum and that we didn't how it works. There were about 5 different people coming to us as soon as we sit down to ask us a bunch of different questions without letting us look at the menu we had just been given for dim sum. Because the workers' English wasn't the best, it was a little stressful because it was hard to understand everyone at the same time. Additionally, they just started placing plates on our table without really understanding what it was we wanted. Eventually, a customer explained to us how everything worked and things were straightened out better. The food was INCREDIBLE. It was extremely delicious and made up for a lot of the stress. However, the overall experience would've been much better if the stress was eliminated. TL;DR The food is great but the drinks are weak. The staff is friendly and tries to be helpful but can be pushy.

Waited over 20 minutes for our server to come to our table and the place wasn't crowded at all. The food was kind of bland, and not fresh. The staff isn't friendly at all and I probably won't be coming here again.

nice decor but horrible service. you would expect a sports bar to have friendly staff and be a little attentive. my friends and i ordered a pitcher and the waiter forgot about it. 5-10 minutes after i reminded him and he told me it was coming. i saw the dbag walk behind the bar and ask for it. he came back with a cup. wtf?? when we were still working on things, another waitress comes over with the bill seemingly rushing us out. the hours are 9am-1am....last call was at 1040 when we were there. the only good thing about this place is that there are a bunch of tvs...but they had no games on except hockey...seriously no nfl network...everythings is over priced. i hate this place.

I had high hopes for this joint. A Chinese themed sports bars, what could be better?!? The staff is really nice but you can tell the are new because they had to keep checking how to make the drinks. The food is pretty bad, sub-par Chinese take out at its best. I'm hoping once it's been open a little longer they'll work out the kinks, but the food at their other spot in Canton is just as bad soooo we'll see.

I thought it was all right, a little salty. I will go back, but I will order a steam dish. I had general gau, which was salty; chicken teriyaki, which was good; lo mein, which was good; and a side of crab rangoon, which was also good. I will need to revisit again, I haven't had much luck with other chiness restaurants in Quincy.

Worst place to eat dim sum in Quincy. Service was too slow with only one cart had the same food coming around our table too many times. Dim Sum tasted cold and wasn't authentic enough. It was like they bought store-bought packaged dim sum from the Asian supermarket and reheated it in a microwave. Parking is the worst with no street parking available. Only way to get there is T Red Line Braintree train to Wollaston Sta. So many TV's made it feel overwhelming with many different channels on many TV's. Wallpaper was fine since we live in a city with many different sports teams winning world series and championships. This place I would not recommend to eat Dim Sum at. I'd recommend to go to Chinatown in Boston with many assortments of Dim Sum restaurants. Easy 15-20 min. T ride into the city of Boston without the heavy and grueling Boston traffic.

Ok, with all the bad reviews, I had to go and try the place! The staff was really eager to seat us. My husband was already in love with the place with the tvs and bar, but I wondering what I was going to eat. The waitress was in a rush to get our order (because I think she wanted to eat,) but that did not bother me. I needed time to decide what I wanted and she gave us time. My husband got the Four Happiness and the chicken teriyaki app, which he was happy with. I got the General Gau dinner combo and as the chicken was good and spicy with a decent portion, the lo mien was bland. All and all the food was ok, but nothing special. We did not have drinks except for a diet soda, which tasted funny from glass which was washed but not rinsed enough. I can understand the bad reviews, a new place really should be on their "A" game, not acting like they have been open for 10 years. I will be back for drinks and apps at the bar and maybe dim sum sometime, but there is no rush.

Came here for drinks on a Friday night with a few friends. We ordered a few scorpion bowls...thought it was filled with a little too much sugar. The crab rangoons were average, but the beef teriyaki was really good. They had all the windows open and it for made a chill, relaxing evening. They There was also a live DJ that would play any song that you requested!

Brief update: I went back this past weekend. Unfortunately, Quincy's nightlife is minimal and a few of my friends admitted to consistently going to The China. I caved. Wish I hadn't. For the following reasons: 1) Ordered a scorpion bowl. It arrives, promptly, with one of the straws (I ordered a large for two) being melted by the fire from the lit 151 liquor in the center of the glass. Melted plastic- yum! 2) Actual conversation with the server when ordering: "Hi, I'd like the chicken lo mein" "That doesn't have fried noodles! Fried noodles are chow mein." "Right, which is why I would like the chicken lo mein." "Chicken lo mein is chicken not fried." "Yes. Again. Can I have the chicken lo mein? *Rolls eyes, writes something down, and walks away* 3) Bill comes and we each are given separate checks, one for each of the four people at the table. Mine: $20 for a large scorpion bowl and a small chicken lo mein. Reasonable price for a strong drink and meh Chinese food. Some people in our party pay in cash, some (myself included) pay with credit card. Cash is taken, cards are run and returned. I leave a $5 tip on my $20 bill on my charge receipt. Server comes back two minutes later, collects the signed copies of our receipts and proceeds to inform us that tip was not included in the cash. I look around- it's only about 9 pm and the place wasn't terribly busy, so I couldn't entirely figure out what he was wanting. He repeated himself again- that tip was not included in the bill. We had been visiting and chatting and I was a little surprised that he expected us to tip immediately, especially since we were nursing full drinks when he dropped the checks off to begin with. He was mumbling at first, but I informed him that the two of us that used credit cards put our tip on our cards. He was clearly angry at this point and again pointed out that the bills paid by cash did not include tip. Correct, sir. However, we are still sitting here, enjoying our drinks. Both the credit card payers left 20% tips and the two cash payers have yet to leave their tip on the table. You've given no indication that there is a shift change or that you're off (the only reasonable explanation I could think of for his behavior). Server is now pretty angry. He wants more money. I swear, The China is a place of first times. First visit: first time I ever sent back a dish in my entire life (spoiled chicken, yum!). Latest visit: first time I've ever been reprimanded by a server for not tipping enough before we'd even left the table. We ended up leaving without finishing our drinks. It was way too uncomfortable. At the end of the day, The China isn't going anywhere. It's busy, drinks and food are cheap and edible (this time around), but I wish their servers weren't terrible.

Why the low rating? A close friend asked us to try this small place for dim sum. I have to admit, the name threw me off a little. A sports bar for dim sum. I went based on blind fate, complete trust in her. Boy am I glad I did. The place is small, not much room for anyone. It's a push cart dim sum in a really cramp setting with a full bar that somewhat disassociate itself from the regular dim sum joint. But we were here for the dim sum, and they did not disappoint. The shrimp used in the shumai, cheong fun, and fried chives dumplings were very fresh and good size too. The sticky rice has a good filling to rice ratio. That was good. Nicely seasoned and not drowned in soy sauce. We also had the tofu skin wrapped bamboo shoots and ground pork dumplings. Tasted really fresh. A big plus since most places have that off putting taste to their ground pork filling. All the food served was nice and warm. The crispy chives dumpling stayed crispy, unlike other dim sum place that served it soggy and drowned in grease. The egg tarts were good, warm and crispy. On to the bad. The only one item that disappointed us was the fried durian dumplings. My friend had it, took a bite and said she can't taste any durian at all. BTW, they have a weird system going on of your want to order dim sum for takeout. They don't wrapped it for you. Instead they put all the food on your table and give you boxes to DIY. Thought that was rather strange. Overall, food was great. Service was good. Will definitely be back.

This was third time I visited there, Friday night. I was not pleased last two times because of the working staff. However I find the food tasty here. This time I was very pleased as this place has changed the working staff. The ugly looking Chinese staff who could not speak a single sentence in English are gone. This place now looks cool and worth visiting. This was a very good step towards attracting customers.

The service here is terrible. I ordered a few drinks and some appetizers, after the waitress dropped off our food, she was never seen again. I had to go up to her to ask for the bill after not seeing her for the past 30 minutes. Also, do not order a pitcher of draft. The pitcher only has 2 glasses worth of beer and is 3 times the price. Food here is mediocre, tastes like chinese takeout.

Great family friendly modern sports bar chinese place. Went here for birthday dinner. They have good drinks, beer on tap and even non-alcoholic drinks mix drinks for kids. Just ask the bartender to make pina-colada without alcohol. The street noise was high to asked the server to close the giant windows. Had some good chinese food. Great place with small parking lot in the back.

It's a cool, sports bar atmosphere with many tvs to watch different channels. I came here for dinner and dim sums. Dim sum brunch time is good. You can also order dim sums at other times and not just with the carts, or if they don't have it in their dim sums carts.. It's a nice place to be and a lot cleaner than most asian restaurants in the area. But I must warn you, their prices are higher for dim sum. Dinner entrées and appetizers are also pricier and not worth it. Dinner entrées lack in flavors and authentic. Even a simple crab ragoon and fried wontons, excuse my language, sucks. Depending on who works during that shift, you can get someone who is friendly or someone who demands for tips. It's still a fun hang out place for drinks and maybe a few dishes to share but I don't recommend to actually dine in unless you want dim sum. I highly recommend skip their food EXCEPT for their dim sums. Dim sum is a must try here. That's weird to say since it's a sports bar. To be honest, I used to be against this restaurant because when they finally had their grand opening, 3 days later, the owner basically laid off a bunch of people, including cooks/chiefs so I stayed away for an extremely long time until one night, I was hungry and it was in walking distance. Overall, try their dim sums and don't pay till you're actually about to leave or you will get a glare if you don't give 30%+ tip. You read that right; anything less and you will be consider a peasant and cheapstake in their eyes. I haven't sat at the bar so can't say much about it but it seems to be more relaxed and not rushed compare to the dine in tables. Plus, you'll probably get to chat with the manager on duty. I got to chit chat with an Asian manager and she was friendly the whole time and attentive to my little family when we ate dim sum during brunch hours.

I am a bit torn on how to rate The China because it depends on what you are there for -- 5 STARS FOR DIMSUM BUT A MEASLY 2.5 FOR DINNER (assuming you're going for authentic chinese dishes). THE GOOD: This is one of the cleaner joints in Quincy to grab dimsum, maybe anywhere in the greater Boston area. I had reservations about going to an americanized chinese food joint for lunch, but The China has some of the freshest and most well made dimsum I've ever had (and I ate dimsum in the womb!!) Standouts include their hai gaos (shrimp wrapped in clear dough) and siew mais (pork mixture wrapped in wonton wrappers). Dim sum is available to be ordered off the menu in the evening too! THE BAD: Going off the high of dimsum, we decided to return for dinner one night. I'm sure the China is fine for some americanized dishes, but if you're looking for some of the staples found at other restaurants, prepare to be disappointed. I strongly suggest avoiding all of the seafood dishes as most seem to be prepared with frozen materials. I forgot what this place was before The China, but it looks like the previous owner renovated it as a sports bar. The Boston sports timeline wrapping the ceiling is a bit out of place. The bar area is unseen at other chinese restaurants and the amount of beers on tap is quite impressive. Service is better than what you see at other chinese restaurants. Just don't walk in expecting top tier service!

Finally went here tonight after seeing it on phantom gourmet. The exterior is definitely superior to the interior. in terms of food, I had the general gau's chicken which was above average from your typical Chinese restaurant; the portion was good. My boyfriend had the Schezuan chicken which was quite bland and somewhat smaller portion than my general gau's chicken. My sister had kung pao chicken which was a very small portion and mostly filled with vegetables. Flavor was also semi-lacking. Our waitress, who was an older Chinese lady was not attentive whatsoever. My boyfriend had asked for "extra extra spicy" but did not care to listen to him as she walked away. We had to flag her down for hot sauce maybe close to ten minutes into our meal. We were also parched from all the chinese food and was not given a refill of water until another waiter came by and noticed that my boyfriend had switched cups with me to finish my water. I'd come back to try their dim sum and perhaps sit by the bar but unlikely would come back just to sit in the dining room for our meal.

i was slightly disappointed in this restaurant. The food was average or slightly above. The restaurant itself was very warm due to the retractable windows being open. This also caused it to be loud due to traffic on a busy road. The outside noise was however somewhat blocked out by the tvs, which were too loud. I sat at the bar and after promptly taking my order, the server showed me no attention whatsoever. She disappeared and i eventually estimated my bill, left some cash and left the restaurant.

I had a few good meals from this place, but today I went in to have lunch and sat at the bar. About halfway through the lobster sauce I found about a dime size piece of egg-shell which wasn't a huge deal, but I put it aside on the bar to make it known subtlety. A few minutes later, I then found a piece of plastic in my food as well. It was see through and larger than a Quarter. I then waved the bartender over and brought both to her attention. I said "I'm all set, first the egg shell now plastic?" She cleared the 1/2 full plate away from me, nobody said sorry, and then rang up my bill. I paid, left a 3 dollar tip and decided not to go back ever again. One of the bartenders were brand new, and the other was training her. I guess the new girl now knows the correct way to run The China! No apologies, and full price check. By the way it was just me, one combo plate, and water for the drink. Would have been a minimal loss for them, but now they can deal with my review instead.

They serve Dim Sum ALL THE TIME. What?!? We asked for the Dim Sum menu at dinner and had an awesome experience. Super tasty, fresh, made to order. Would definitely go back. Can speak to the other menu items, but the General Gao's pizza sounds intriguing.

The vibe of this place is a little strange in that its attempt at a Chinese sports bar. Maybe it just feels strange because it's a new concept. Th place is fairly full on a weekend night for dinner. The food, as you would expect is American Chinese. I had a living social of 15 for 30, in which I used to order the Peking duck. I placed this order 24 hours in advance per their menu. The food was okay, but I've had better. Service is adequate per American standards but great if you're comparing against other Chinese restaurants. Given there was a living social, this place is A-OK to me. I may even return if I ever feel the mood for Chinese while watching a sporting event as they're the only place to offer this. There is also parking behind the restaurant.

One would think a sports bar would be open past 11. Apparently it's a unique sports bar that does not go with the flow of prime time sports. So if you are thinking of watching prime time Celtics or Bruins, this venue would not be the best choice to watch an 8pm game cuz we all know that with the possibility of OT, games could run past 11. I'll just call this a restaurant that is a sports bar wanna be. Besides the not so sports friendly hours, the TVs are not that strategically placed to live up to the "sports bar" title. If you are not sitting at the bar, the chance of everyone at the table are at a comfortable position to watch the game is slim. Again, it's just a dang restaurant that is a sports bar wanna be. If you want to try their Poly drinks, I hope you are a light weight. It's very watered down according to my friends of all drinking levels. The rocks drink is tiny with a long ass cocktail stirrer to make the glass look even more petite. I'll suck that up since I didn't come here for an 8pm game. Should I suck up to reactive service? I don't think there's anywhere else in Quincy that is as reactive as this when it's not busy. Maybe it's been such a long time that we had to flag someone down for another round so I'm not used to sub par service. On top of that, I had a hard time deciphering if the server was laughing at us for what we ordered or just had a need to make us understand what we ordered. I'd like an Angry Orchard. You like an Angry Orchard, it's a beer. O really!? I would have never guessed! I understand that this joint serves "fake" Chinese food. I just didn't realize that it served fake Chinese food from hell! The spicy wings was a joke. It was just fried wings dozed with hot oil. I'm sure it took a Johnston and Wales graduate to invent this dish! The regular fried chicken wings was overly salty. All the meats were in baking soda too long. The crab rangoon was borderline to expiry and just a bad recipe. The beef in the stir fry was a little past expiry. The boneless spareribs wasn't the freshest either - over dozed with honey, dry and chewy/stringy. I honestly don't recall fake Chinese food that difficult to prepare and cook! This one star is for creativity. They actually came up with an Chinese pizza section. We opted to try the General Gau's pizza. I can tell you this is the worst General Gau's sauce I ever had in my 30+ years of living in Boston area. The pizza is basically made with the sauce with some kind of cheese and marinated dark meat chicken. The crust came out the color of a sugar cookie with a texture of a breadstick. Absolutely no crunch factor. The sauce was way too sweet. The chicken was overly marinated that it lost the chicken flavor - probably been sitting too long from lack of turnover/business. You'd have to put me on a leash to come back in here.

Some friends and I went for dinner and I have to say it was pretty disappointing. The service was terrible it took 20 minutes just to get our drinks, I will say the scorpion bowls were very good but not good enough to take that long to make and deliver. It wasn't an exceptionally busy night however by the time we placed our orders for food we had been there for 45 minutes, it took another 45 for our food to come out and all of the dishes came out at different times, I had my food 20 minutes before my boyfriend's pizza came out and when it did come out it looked like a frozen pizza it was chewy and cold and borderline not edible. The Chinese food was also disappointing, nothing special about it and in Quincy where there are a number of really good Chinese food places there is nothing that makes me want to go back to the China. I would rather go somewhere with faster service AND better food.

I went to The China numerous times, today is Christmas day, i had a friend who is there eating and made a verbal reservation for 6 people so the waiting can be reduce, when we arrive the restaurant with 3 of us already, waitress brought us to a table consist two square tables which can seat 8 people, since only 3 of us arrives at the moment, the owner asked me is everyone arrived ? I told her they are all on the way but she wants to give the table to someone else who is waiting and with everyone there already. What is a so called reservation for ? 10 minutes later, she asked me are they here yet, i said 2 minutes they will arrives, she said other people is leaving and don't want to wait anymore, she drag one of my square table away from us to host others, this time my two other guests arrives so i get up and let other two sit down to eat and i walk the fuck out myself. I walk out because i was being embarrassed and felt insulted by the owner, i am not a fucken bum, am i ? I was being treated like i have no money or else. Everyone, please stay away from this place. Spend your money to a restaurant who deserve to earn your money. I WILL NOT EVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE, SERVICE IS MOST PRIORITY IN ANY INDUSTRY

I've only been here once and I ordered DimSum! From the wording to the bar, this place is where Americans would come to eat "authentic Chinese food" however I did not try there traditional Chinese food so I cannot comment, however there DimSum is surprisingly really delicious and large and fresh! The service is not too bad as well!

OK went here twice now just to make sure, everything has been great from thousand year egg congee to your basic fried rice, had dim sum and lunch plates, only thing that was not perfect was the egg roll, pork dumplings were awesome as was shrimp dumplings fried pork roll, you gotta try it. Drinks were reasonable and where else can you get dim sum a burger and watch the game?

Did Miss Teen South Carolina name this restaurant? If you're not familiar, Google "Miss Teen South Carolina" and "The Iraq". Anyway... It seems like The China wants the best of both worlds: appeal to the Asian community with authentic dim sum, but also cater to those that can't venture past the General and his chicken. That, and the sports bar decor at a Chinese restaurant, makes this a confused place. In all fairness though, I have seen Chinese restaurants (like Sun Kong in Malden) use a similar formula with success. I came here with a little bit of trepidation. My hair stylist, who's straight up from Hong Kong, said the dim sum here was "decent" but didn't have a strong positive opinion. Sylvia C's pictures didn't look very promising. However, I was in the mood to take-out some dim sum one morning and decided to give it a try. When I arrived, the lady at the counter greeted me in Cantonese but informed me that they did not have any dim sum menus. She also told me they would be releasing a more authentic Chinese menu soon as well. So I just went for a few common dim sum dishes that I knew they'd have (if they didn't, I would've walked out). It took a while but I finally got my four items. From hearing things going on inside the kitchen, it seems like the staff (or management) has to sort itself out. The har gau (shrimp dumplings) were big and looked nice, but there wasn't a whole lot of flavor to them. The positive was that the shrimp was tender. The siu mai (open-faced pork dumplings) were similar to the har gau: large but not really all that flavorful. I threw caution to the wind, as I saw Sylvia C's picture of a Mike Tyson'ed shrimp cheung fun, and ordered the same. I guess they made a fresh one for me because mine looked a lot better than hers. It tasted pretty good actually and I figured I just lucked out. The egg custard bun was rather dry and tasteless - weakest of the bunch. The bun was bone dry and the filling inside was not sweet. The four dishes I ordered amounted to about $16, which isn't the most expensive I've encountered, but not exactly a bargain either. Maybe I'll give this spot another shot for dim sum after giving it some time to get it together.

Ordered dim sum take out...and it was totally gross. Taste like something frozen and reheated. The ingredients did not taste fresh or authentic. Think I'm better off with the frozen kinds from the market. I'd expected more since the place was packed. Guess it's because they're brand new.

I had an OK time at the bar, but the food is just plain mediocre. Expect greasy, Americanized food. I would recommend driving five minutes down to Grand Chinatown if you want dim sum. If you have really, really late-night munchies (when I say this, I mean midnight or later) or want to grab a drink, The China is ideal. It's open until 1AM, which is pretty good for Quincy. There is a really varied crowd there at night, so ladies, be wary of creeps. I've had some drafts and a scorpion bowl and thought the pricing was fair.

Interesting. An American-ish sports bar but with Chinese food (Americanized, of course). The food was standard but very greasy. Did not agree with me at all but everyone agreed it was okay. We ordered a bunch of stuff but it came out staggered and piece-meal which was a little frustrating because our party of six was sharing everything but some people didn't want this or that so they ha to wait. I kinda liked the decor and but halfway through the meal someone cranked up the juke box and it was really hard to hear after that. I know, I know: "It's a sports bar, dummy." But it was also sunday at 1 so we thought it would be a little different. Overall, while it is close to us, there are several Chinese food joints en route that we would be just as pleased to stop into and have a bite.

The food here is excellent! Compared to the Chinese food restaurants in the area, this is by far the best. The food is always cooked to perfection and the portion sizes make it worth the money. The only reason I am rating 3 stars is because my roommate and I live in the general area and the past 5 times we've called to order delivery, they did not have a driver to do so. It is quite the inconvenience because we REALLY do want to eat from there. If they get that fixed, they'll definitely be the top!

I gotta say, I get great service at the bar every time I've been (3x since opening - I live only a 2 min walk away). The bartender recognized me and got my name. The food is reasonably priced, and more importantly, it tastes good! I still think they have the best boneless spareribs around town...perhaps on the South Shore. Tonight, I got General Gau chicken combo with chicken teriyaki and fried rice. It did not disappoint. I asked about the pizza oven which was not operational last week and it was up and running. The manager then brought out samples of pizza with boneless spareribs on top. Yum. I need to sign up for Obamacare because that is a heart attack waiting to happen, but it won't stop me from ordering pizza topped with Chinese food in the future. I'll be back often!

I have been here several times ordering a la carte and it's been good. This Saturday though I finally made it for dim sum brunch and I'm glad I went! I have never had it before and the hostess was very friendly and explained how it works. Worth a try, as you get to try succulent Chinese dishes that aren't usually on a menu anywhere. Several variations of dumplings and seafood fishes that tasted very yummy. Next time I'll bring a few friends because I think the idea behind it is to order several plates and share, kind of like tapas.
