I admit I was a snob about this place at first. My boyfriend swore by it, so I reluctantly went and after a few visits this place really grew on me. We are now regulars and I love this place! They have the best chicken broccoli & ziti! Pizza isn't bad too, I also love noshing on the free popcorn. Drinks are strong and reasonably priced!

Nothing but great things to say about Coops! We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and it was a great time with great service. The food is great, the portions are huge, the prices are low, and it's a good spot to watch a game. If there's a UFC fight that place is packed. The beer towers are fun, and I recommend the Turkey tips, chicken parm sandwich, and the drunken meatball pizza. There needs to be more places like Coops

Wow I was really surprised by the wings! Very delicious. Rough joint but quick service and best wings I've had in a while!

Coops is an amazing spot, great bar food but also the specials have a nicehome cooked feel to them. The pizza is delicious and the drunken buffalo meatballs are a one of a kind flavor you must try. The only reason I gave it four stars is because the waitress, although nice and fantastic, didn't come around enough so my beer was empty pretty often. I wish there was an option for 4.5 stars.

Had the best night at coops Dave was our bartender he was quick to serve with a smile. The bar was very busy and we were lucky to get a seat... We were quickly served popcorn and ice cold pints of whachusett blueberry beer with ample amounts of blueberries in it...definitely coming back!! Food is also amazing!

Drunken meatball pizza is worth a couple more Lipitor. Wiggly new waitress one shoulder showing works for me.

This review is far overdue. I went to Coop's for the first time back in March. I was in the mood for burgers and had heard that Coop's was the place to go. The burgers did not disappoint. It was pretty hopping for a Monday night, and we had to wait for a couple of chairs to open up at the bar. I ordered a Coops Root beer and the bartender gave me a bit of a hard time when I asked if they made their own. (It has a Coop's label - but I guess that's an unreasonable thought - apparently they simply order it from a manufacturer with their name on it.) Sorry to disappoint. The bartender could have been nicer about it, but it's a Quincy bar, and I should expect to be given the "are you kidding?" look and tone when I ask an apparently stupid question. So don't ask - they don't bottle their own root beer. That said, the burgers, (we ordered a mushroom swiss, and a classic), as well as 2 orders of onion strings, were perfect. I don't often crave red meat, but when I do, and when that craving turns to burgers - this would be a good place to keep in mind. It's not fancy, it's not amazing service, but it's good food at reasonable prices and a whole lot of local personality and people watching galore at the bar.

The food is great, the atmosphere is a sports bar so lots of drinks to choose from. The service is usually great but when I came in on 2/28 Sarah was way too concerned with her friends than to our table. Her friends were sitting at the high tops and she ignored us the whole time. I could not believe she had her back to us the entire meal. I had to give my check to someone else to get her attention. She was sitting with her friends instead of doing her job. This lady should have been spoken to but no one that was a manager seemed to care what she was doing. We have not been back since and most likely won't be. We used to be there 2-3 times a month but no more . They lost customers and money now.

My boyfriend and I live right by here and decided to try it for dinner one night. Ever since then we have been become regulars !!! Both of us have yet to receive a meal we didn't thoroughly enjoy. The service is great too I really appreciate customer service with a smile and every staff member we encounter is more then friendly. We even went tonight just to get a frozen mudslide and even that was delicious. Can't go wrong here people and the prices are totally legit !! Love it !

My boyfriend lives right around the corner from Coops and from the looks of the parking lot, I've never had any desire to go in there. Boy, do NOT judge a book by its cover. The first time I went int there, almost every seat was taken. The beer was nice and cold and the food was pretty good. I also love that they give you a bowl of popcorn to snack on. Coop is now our favorite place to go for a drink in Quincy. It's a great place to watch a game or go for drinks.

If you... ...like to say things like 'yeah dude she's a f-in crazy old lady' ...enjoy watching a Boston sporting events while chanting 'yankees suck' ...yearn for a bazooka of bud light to share with NOboDY ...or want to meet a man that likes these kinds of things you cannot go wrong with Coops. it is seriously a townie sports bar... but here is the catch- their food is actually very very good. the staff is surprisingly attentive, accepting and nice (even when confronted with a few REALLY boyish EXTREMELY gay lesbians at the bar) and the beer/liquor selection is pretty damned impressive. I wouldn't go again, since neither myself nor my friends would ever be interested in a tower of Bud Light, (plus i live in Boston) BUT- if that is your crowd... and you live anywhere in that area... Coop's is pretty kick-ass.

Great local spot! Tons of TVs and great bar seating, there is always a spot at the bar for you and some friends. I really enjoy that they serve tall mixed drinks at a reasonable price. Food is decent and you def get your money's worth. Onion rings are way better than the fries and their bar style pizza is pretty awesome. They recommend the drunken meatballs???? Avoid them they taste like big spaghettios meatballs covered in sweet buffalo sauce. They also do bar trivia which I can't wait to try, I believe it's on Wednesday nights. Some parking in the lot touching the building but if there aren't any spaces they have additonal parking across the street. So def go here for a tall mixed drink and the buffalo chicken pizza!

This past Saturday, my man THE Sports Fan were deciding should we head to a bar in Boston to watch the Bruins game or stay around. The game started so we just stayed. I was glad we did. Great atmosphere with great vibe n decors. Love...love the food! I've been to a few sports bar around Quincy n even in Boston. I think I'm gonna have to throw in the towel on my searches for pubgrub n stick to the Coop from now on. It is hard to find a place with both good vibe n yummy good food. We ordered a fired up Coop sampler (buffalo chix tenders...their famed meatballs..beefy cut fries smothered w/their homemade chili..although I usually like my fries crispy n just simply with ketchup. But this was delish!..def gotta try the nacho next time. We also splitted the steak tips sandwich. U can get it with bbq, or buffalo style...we got it plain. So tasty! Since our sampler is with fries, we got onion strings with the sandwich instead. I personally would prefer my onion rings. Strings reminded me of my hair when i first get outta bed. I wish they have rings in the future...hint hint ;)

Coops is my favorite bar to go to around the quincy/weymouth area. All the bartenders are friendly and nice. The servers are usually quick and equally as friendly. This place gets real busy on weekends (day and night). I like to sit at the high tops in the bar, but settle for the actual bar sometimes. The menu has sandwiches, soups, seafood, pasta and tons more. We go here weekly, its a good family spot or a little date night if you don't mind watching sports and talking over other tables. Coops is definitely a down to earth place!

  • Michelle K.

I have to say, this place was a surprising treat! It doesn't look like much from the outside; very plain exterior. Inside is another story. The bar and dining rooms are in two different rooms. The waitstaff are very friendly and attentive. They offer popcorn right away and even offer to turn the channel on one of their many TVs to a channel you like to watch if it's not too busy (and no sports games are on). The food there is very delicious. I recommend the chicken fajitas, but I have also had other dishes there. Everything has been top notch. The only things I'd say needs improving on is their desserts. I've found them to be only average, although they do have an excellent portion size. There is plenty of parking space, and it is easily accessible by bus, so there's no excuse NOT to try this place out! Give it a shot!

    (4)
  • Juan B.

It would be my first choice or it wouldn't be my last pick either. I also wouldn't call it quincy finest either.... Foods good but it takes forever to come out and the prices are well within medium price range. Maybe I'll give another shot to see the handsome door host! Haha

    (3)
  • Sean B.

The chili is unbelievable! Beers are cold and prices are very reasonable I wold definitely reccomend the place

Coop's is my go to place now for any sporting event or even just for some good, cheap eats. It's not the fanciest place around, but it a fun atmosphere. I've also gone to their trivia nights in the past which has been a blast.

  • Viv K.

Food bartenders and place is great for lunch dinner or to watch a game. Only recommendation GET THERE EARLY! place is always full up. It's a good thing I guess. I recommend the steak tips, buff chicken dip, mashed potatoes, buff chick pizza, popcorn of course!! Have never had a bad experience here. Great place to go if your looking for a good hangover lunch with friends!!

  • C M.

DRUNKEN BUFFALO MEATBALL PIZZA. This place is turning out some great dishes for a sports bar. Plus if you have 3 or more people, you have the pleasure of experiencing a beer bong, filled with your choice of frosty goodness. Tv's everywhere, friendly staff. Unfortunately the popcorn taste like ball sweat. Other than that, this place is aces!!

  • Kelsey D.

Nothing overly special. Lots of choices, good food, decent prices.

Don't judge a book by its cover is a good way to describe this place. A great bar to go to when watching a game. The food is great! Try the drunken buffalo balls.

Went here last night for trivia, the trivia guy was okay. As some points it was hard to hear him. The food was good, I got the fried raviolis which weren't the best but weren't the worst either. I had a few beers. First the Coop's Brew which wasn't anything too special. Just an average light beer. Then I had a Sam Summer and it tasted like they didn't rinse the soap all the way out of the cup. I then switched to bud bottles which you can never go wrong with. It has a lot of different beers but nothing out of the ordinary. My entree was their bar pizza which I must say was really good. I had the buffalo chicken and the person I went with had a Broccoli and Chicken pizza. I tried hers, they were both probably top 3 bar pizzas I have ever had. There was maybe two waitresses for the whole dining area and they were doing a hell of a job getting around to everyone. Oh yeah and besides trivia they also had Keno which I am a huge fan of. I have struggled on deciding what to rate this bar. It is a dive bar with many dive bar attributes which at times I absolutely love. It has good bar food, entertainment (trivia and keno) which is sometimes fun, and a wide range of beers but none that you can't find at any other place. Overall it is a good dive bar but nothing that really makes it stand out. I will probably go there again but not make it a regular thing.

While chatting with some neighbors while I was unpacking my moving truck, I was told that Coop's is great joint for a beer or a bite. It's not more than a 2 minute walk from my house, so I tested their opinions out my first night in Quincy. I've been back to Coop's 3 or 4 times in the few months since then, and I must say, this is one of my favorite places in Quincy. The place has the charm of a neighborhood bar, and it reminds me of the TV show "Cheers" when I visit. Everyone is welcoming and friendly, and you feel like you could just go there and catch a Sox or Bruins game with some of the long-time locals. You just won't find that sort of thing in most of downtown Boston. Anyways, the food is good, and the beers are served at a perfect temperature. The popcorn is nice to snack on while you wait for your grub, and service is always efficient and friendly. Definitely a great option for Quincy dining or drinks. There's a T bus stop right out front too if you're coming from (or going to) the Red Line.

I've been to Coop's probably six times in the past year and a half. The food is always good. Drinks are big. Everything is reasonably priced. Service is pleasant. The wait can be a bit long, but not unreasonable. I wouldn't say it's a place you can run and and run out. If you're in a hurry, call in and order as take out. Tuesday trivia nights are locally famous. Again, they run from about 8pm-11:30pm if it's crowded so don't go if you're in a hurry. Go to relax and have a good time with friends. We had eight people, some apps, some pizzas, multiple mixed drinks, bottles and three or four pitchers and the whole check was $135- I was very happy with that. And all of the food was good; bar pizza, drunken meatballs, Buffalo chicken dip, veggie sides and salad. *Also important, the staff are friendly and competent and the place is clean.

  • Kimberly A.

Average bar to me. We went in looking forward to the Buffalo Meatballs and...not impressed. The meatballs are not homemade, they look just like the frozen ones from Costco with their own sauce added. Friendly staff though.

Can't find me? Well, I'm sure you can find me. After last night, we all decided this is the local hang! Sweet prices! Sweet deals! $2 Pizza. $1 beer. How can I not surrender to you my new luv? Bright. Clean. TVs. Doesn't smell.

The food here is usually great. It was not great after the hour and 15 minutes it took to bring us our food. My sandwich completely fell apart as the bread was soaked through. The waiter did not bother to check on our meal. I told him when we asked for our check (we were there for TWO HOURS) and he just walked away. I won't go into the myriad of details tonight that makes up my mind that I won't be back here ever again (and I was actually a fan before). I'm still too pissed off. Just sort the reviews by date and you will get a cleared picture.

Good food! If you don't mind waiting 45 minutes for a burger! Coops is convenient for us, and has a friendly vibe. We went there about a month ago and experienced a torturously long wait for our food. Chalked it up to being in the back room with an inexperienced server so we tried again last night becuase we enjoyed the food. Changed to the bar room, ordered our food with our drinks and proceeded to wait 45 minutes again. With a small child that's just too long to sit. Server told us the kitchen was backed up. But this is the second time in a month so maybe they need more cooks? Food was yummy - no doubt about it- and hot too. On a more serious side note, the beer there flows a LOT faster than the food, a little TOO fast in fact. There were two men sitting near us who would be able to testify to that, if only their memory of the evening were clear enough. An empty pitcher was followed by three beers a piece in that same 45 minutes. I couldn't help notice them as their voices got louder and the larger man proclaimed how much he f-ing loved his buddy. Declarations were followed by lots of fist pumping. As they stumbled out, one of them couldn't find his keys and the other lost his scarf to the ground. NOT COOL, COOPS!

  • John W.

Coops is great.....good food, nice people. But I went there recently for lunch and it took almost an hour to get our food.....and it wasn't crowded. If you're on a lunch break from work.........you won't make it back in time. Other than that, we love the place.

    (3)
  • Caroline L.

From the outside, you think this is a divey bar- but it's actually really big and clean. Service was great, all the waitresses are great, and do a really good job. One talked us into the drunken buffalo meatballs, and we're certainly thankful for that! Can't wait to try it out on one of their pizzas. On Mondays and Tuesday, cheese pizza is $3... rest of the weeek its $5. Great crust, not too buttery. It gets packed on game days, so head over early!

The more we go back the better impression I have. Good value and the beer has gotten colder! YAY

Buffalo Meatballs! Pizza is OK, great spot to watch the game and have a decent meal. Keno has a booth so you don't have to wait to play which is nice!

Coops is hands down my favorite place in the South Shore. I've never tried something I didn't like here. A few of my favorites are: buffalo chicken pizza, chicken parm bread bowl, and their steak tip sub. They make great drinks and have a huge beer selection. The service is great (Ben is aweome) and they have keno, lottery tickets, and sports on the TVs. Its great for lunch, dinner, or late night. They even have beer towers and can fill them with whatever you want that's on draft!

    (5)
  • Connor C.

Staff was nice. Good bar food. Beer selection wasn't great. Will be back for the buffalo meatballs.

Good food, bad service. We sat down and the waitress brought over water. For the next fifteen minutes, we tried to catch her eye to place our order. We eventually ordered a pizza and buffalo dip, and asked for a drink menu. She never brought a drink menu. We asked another waitress for a drink menu. Nothing. We went to the bar and asked the bartender for a drink menu. She got sucked into the black hole that was apparently consuming our servers. Finally, another customer, who noticed our plight, asked what we needed. With drink menu in hand, we tepidly ordered two beers from the bartender (at that point, we had given up on the idea that our initial waitress would return). The server seemed annoyed to bring us drinks, which is understandable considering the fact that two previous servers had likely already been kidnapped in an attempt to take our order. Finally, the food and beer arrived. It was pretty good overall, and a good price. If our waitress is out there somewhere in the great abyss, please, come back to your restaurant. People need you.* *The waitress wasn't lost in the abyss. She brought us our check. Please do not form a search committee for our waitress.

  • Julie T.

Have to say, been here a few times and the past 2 times I've had the same experience. Walked in, sat at the bar, ordered drinks and WAITED, and WAITED and WAITED some more. Both times the bartender saw us looking at menu's, both times we had to get his attention to order food. Finally my boyfriend just shouted his order at the bartender, but I refused to order but he also never asked me if I wanted anything. The app popped up, my boyfriend cleaned up and before we called it a night the bartender came over and asked if we had a food order in because he didn't see on in the computer. Really pal!! Oh and I should mention I overheard 2 couples around us asking the same bartender if they could also order food. Bad training, but props for the free popcorn and for having Mic Ultra on tap!!

Came in here tonight (Saturday). Our group was seated away from the bar area because we were with children, but right away. The room was well suited for them. The waitress in the area kindly put on Sponge Bob, I'm not sure how happy the other patrons were, but the kids were happy. The waiter was attentive and very patient, esp. with all those kids, so kudos to him. However, the food took a long time and I didn't particularly find it anything to rave about. The popcorn came out after being requested. The kids meals came out in fashionable time. However the apps came out kinda of late. But since the kids meals came out so fast, they were done before the adults got their meals. Not the best timing. Kids aren't always patient, so they were up running around while the adults were trying to eat. I ordered the grilled steak tips medium rare. They were cooked to medium. Which I didn't particularly care, as long as they weren't well or the other extreme rare. They did taste good. So I have to say...they do them better than ...the pub 99 i guess. I had veggies on the side and they were abundant and as good as steamed can get... One of the guys I was with ordered the pastrami sandwich. He said he hadn't had such a good one in a long time. Another couple kept raving about the salads and the pizza. Salads looked typical...and the pizza looked greasy. Apparently the chili is good, as well as the asparagus side order. Neither of which I had. So in the end, timing of food coming out was just bad, food was okay. Would I come back, no. Would I opt for here over say a chain Pub 99 yes. It was someplace different.

First time customer Arrived with a Large group with lots of noisy messy kids. A waitresses nightmare. Lots of napkins handed out from the start. paper cups with lids, and popcorn. all bases covered. pitchers of sam adams beer were cold and very drinkable. waitress was very attentive. customer service, A+. waitress was always one step ahead of us . Had caesar salad to start. crisp lettuce, fresh cut. dry not wet, nice amount of feta cheese, small dice of green pepper, black olives, tomato, cucumber, red onion, pepperoncini, and crispy croutons. pizza was hot crisp very tasty. would describe as well executed bar room pizza. thin crust, crisp, small slices, not too greasy nicely sauced. would return again with large group especially with kids. perfect for families. was very pleasantly surprised by food and service. Well done. thanks for a fun night out with family and friends. places like this are hard to find a real quincy treasure.

My friends and I stopped here on by chance as we were headed to the South Shore Music Circus. Parking was great. They had a lot in the back and across the street. We were seated as soon as we walked in and our server was great and friendly. He immediately got us a pitcher of Red Hook Long Hammer IPA, and it seems like they had a good selection of beer on tap.He also brought us a bowl of popcorn which was nice to have something while we waited. It didn't take long to get our food either. My steak tips were good, I got the half order with fries and was satisfied. If you have a big appetite get the full order. The menu was pretty big and it seems like you could get anything in a bread bowl. Everyone at our table had a view of the Sox game on a different tv. This place looks like a local sports bar full of happy souls. Would go here more often if I lived in the area.

I have always been a fan of Coops and still would go there which is why I am giving them three stars. The food is good especially the turkey tips, burgers, sandwiches. Recently went there on a Saturday night and the food took so long to come out we finally just called it night and left. I would have looked at this as an exception however was there about a month ago with friends and the same thing happened. I did let them know and the waitress felt awful. We had drinks and two appetizers and after waiting another hour decided it was time to go. I will never go there on a Friday or Saturday night again and will think twice in the future. They have to figure out their kitchen problem and the ability to get food out. Otherwise not a bad place!

Love Coops. Great for: cheap pitchers of beer and large mixed drinks. great staff, super friendly but can take a bit longer on very busy nights. watching sports, if you're into that. they have at least 10 wide screen TVs. good pub style food, and cheap pizza nights. popular menu items -drunken buffalo meatballs, taco salad, veggie burger w/sweet potato fries, anything in the bread bowls, steak dinner. and occasional people watching (the guy with the band-aid on his nose who sits at the bar looks intimidating but is quite interesting to converse with). Coops is the go to place when we don't know what to do that evening.

Great food! Hamburgers are excellent, pastrami is excellent, lots of flat screen TV's all around!

My wife and I come here ALL the time. Their food is reasonably priced, and their pizza is especially cheap! The best bar pizza you'll find in the entire city, hands-down! All of their other food is also delicious, and when I'm not getting the pizza I choose something different each time. I haven't been let down once! Their portions are very generous, as well! There are TV's in every possible direction, the bathrooms are clean, the service is *usually* fast and friendly (the only exception is when it's packed to the doors during a football game or UFC fight, but they do their best with the overwhelming amount of people they have to wait on). I'm not really into going to the bar to watch sports (I prefer watching at home), and I usually strongly dislike sports-oriented bars, but this place is my favorite bar in the city. That says it all! Overall: The best blend between restaurant and bar you can get, with some of the best prices you can find!

  • Shena K.

Great place to grab beers and watch sports, especially the UFC fights. Lots of TV's, reasonably priced pitchers & mini table kegs, friendly service and great bar food. I'm a bar pizza junkie and must say they have some of the best pizza's around, highly recommend their Scallop & Bacon Pizza and the Drunken Buffalo Meatball Pizza. They always cook my personal favorite (Bacon, pineapple & red onion) perfectly, slice of heaven :)

Coop's is a great place to grab something to eat, drink, and watch the game. There's literally a television in every direction that you look!! I love bar room pizza and Coop's has some of the best around. When my girlfriend and I come here we tend to stick to the staple, cheese and pepperoni but it you are feeling feisty try the Drunken Monkey Buffalo Meatball pizza, it's like a spicey/sweet meatloaf pizza that leaves a kick in your mouth. Coop's is one of the only place's I know that shows the UFC fights with no cover. That being said, come here early because it gets packed!! It's a great atmosphere for the UFC fights too, one where it doesn't matter who you came in with because everyone ends up talking to the people next to them about the fight. I've had 20 and 30something's, to a guy in his 80's next to me and I couldn't think of a better crowd to be with. You would think that after spending a few hours somewhere drinking beers and eating pizzas that it would get expensive, but Coop's doesn't even come close to breaking the bank. Well done Coop's, well done!!

  • L C.

Parking is scarce here. Even without a major sporting game on TV. That just shows you how good they are. There is additional parking across the street. Came here for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised. For a Quincy bar, it was very spacious, clean, TVs in every corner, large bar, and really good inexpensive bar food - pizza, wings, fries...you name it! Seating inside at the bar may be scarce too. Just chill by the bar or entrance and scout out a table that may be leaving soon. Free popcorn! $2 pizzas that are HUGE! It's basically a mini pizza all to yourself. I don't think the $2 deal is everyday but I know it works on Wednesdays! :) The pizza takes awhile so make sure to order it first.

This is my favorite sports bar on the South Shore. There is hardly a wait for a table, which is surprising because the food and the service are exceptional. They have the greatest popcorn that they bring you with your drinks, the staff is very attentive and friendly and the food is fantastic, specifically the pizza! They have a separate restaurant area if you don't like the "bar scene" and it's usually pretty quiet in there. Prices are fantastic, and to make it better, they have lots of coupons in the Entertainment Book and through Tropicana Rewards. Can't go wrong!

The food here is AMAZING! No matter what kind of food I am in the mood for, they have it...and it is delicious. All of the apps are great, the selection of dinner entrees is huge. Never go here if you are looking for a quick meal though, when we go we know we arent leaving until at least an hour later. I'll credit the slow(er) service to it always being busy and the food being perfect every time.

This place is off the hook! I don't even know where to start. The decor is awesome it is very classy and you can see a 60" T.V. no matter where you sit. The food is awesome they have specials and everything, the cook does a great job. They have a dining area I have never sat in but on the bar side you sit at the large wrap around bar, or one of the high tables (I love high tables). If your bored, just ask for darts they have them available for you. One more thing $3 pizza on one or two week nights, and the pizza is amazing!

That $2 Pizza deal Mon-Weds is a great deal. Pizzas are also tasty and filling. Coop's is a good place to come with a group to grab beers and a bunch of bar pizzas. I've been here twice and the service was great each time. I didn't really like the Coops Beer but they do have a lot of other beers on tap. Pitchers of domestic stuff are about $8 while the other beers will run you about $12-$15/pitcher. The jalapeno poppers were excellent and I must come back to try the nachos. They looked soooo good. My apologies to the other table for staring and basically drooling as I eyed your nachos.

Drunken meatball pizza is great!! But service could improve, sat at the bar for 5 minutes before being offered a drink or menu

Love it!! Favorite bar in Quincy. Staff is awesome, food and beer is priced right (best pub pizza around). Parking kind of sucks though, and if you don't get there early enough, it is hard to get a table in the bar room...you have to hover around like a vulture to grab one. If you are forced to sit in the dining area, you feel like you aren't even there. I still love it though, if I could walk there, they would see me all the time

While very convenient to my home and yes, I agree good bar pizza, free popcorn and decent drinks. The owner is not a nice person. His bar has been a detriment to the neighborhood due to the noisy people leaving and his STAFF yes, his STAFF. 12:35 a.m. we are woken up on a Thursday night by yet again his inconsiderate staff. Then he has the neve to call me psycho. Will never go back, but then again that is a good think as it is not fun to be around drunk under 21 year olds.

Coop's a great choice for some pub food. The food is actually really good, the portions are huge and the price is reasonable. I honestly can't say I have had a bad meal here. Small little pizza's to steak tips, they do it all pretty good. They are big on UFC so if you heading there on a Saturday make sure there are no fights on otherwise you will be hard pressed to get a seat. The Staff is more then nice however the reason why this place isn't 5 stars is because it can be slow at times, but it's worth it. Coop's does the job and if you live in the Quincy area you are better off going here then any chain place.

Great tap selection, great bar food- no complaints here! Also, for those of you interested in such things- they show UFC fights for free- just get there early!

Recommended for locals and outsiders! You wouldn't know it from passing by the Coops on the outside, but inside you have a very nice sportsbar - the best we have visited in Quincy. Coops is divided into 2 parts - one part sit down restaurant, one part sportsbar. The bar was recently done over over last few years and is very clean and the staff is very friendly throughout. It's a great bar to go to. Beer and Drink Prices: Very good - they usually have at leat one draft beer as a special for $2 or $2.50 which is excellent for these parts. The drinks are also very resonably priced. Food: Some of the appetizers are outstanding. The drunken buffalo wings are a real treat! I also like the poor man's nachos. However, the entrees are a bit pricey. What is it with Quincy bars and the pricy food? Stick to appetizers. EXTRA BONUS: free popcorn at the bar - just ask if they dont already give it to you. It's nice to get something for free and it's rare. Tvs and Music - Plenty of tvs and a pay-per-use cd jukebox. Great place to watch the games. EXTRA BONUS: UFC Pay-per-view events are free here! Most bars charge $5+ for this. However- arrive early! The place gets more packed than an Indian Railroad Car. Recommendation: It's a great and friendly sportsbar for both locals and outsiders and we would highly recommend Coops - the sportsbar- to anyone. Remember to get there early on event nights if you want to sit. Due to the high prices of the entrees, I would not suggest taking a date or a family to the restaurant part unless you feel like paying up. Stick to the tasty appetizers and free popcorn, barside!

A great restaurant! We were looking for a good weeknight meal at a non-chain restaurant that would please the adults but also offer something for the antsy, picky 4 year old in our party, and we found it here. Among the adults, we had steak tips, fish and chips and the twin grilled chicken breast. All were delicious and generously sized. Our littlest diner had a grilled cheese which looked pretty good, too! Service was prompt and very friendly, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Because of Coop's bland storefront, it kind of blends in with the background, and that's a shame. There's ample parking behind the restaurant, and the restaurant itself is clean and welcoming. We'll definitely be going back!

I've only gone there and walked to the left(Bar area). The food is good time and not expensive. Average priced. They have pitchers of beer, which I don't see too often. The place was clean, good atmosphere and the staff seemed friendly. Great place to watch a game, went there for Sox and Celtics.

Nice Bar, Good Food, and reasonable prices. A bit of an older crowd, but they have great food and bev specials, and it's easy to get a seat. The staff is friendly, and the pizzas are bar food perfection. I haven't been in the dinning room, but I wouldn't go here for a sit down dinner anyway. The bar is where it's at.

Coop's food is classic American, with a little innovation and lots of comfort! The atmosphere is friendly and the numerous plasma t.v.'s make it a great place to watch the game. I've been there twice, having a tuna melt the first time-this was awesome, all white meat tuna and not drenched in mayonnaise. The second time, I had the BBQ chicken pizza, absolutely one of my new favorite meals! It has BBQ sauce instead of plain old tomato sauce, then bacon, red onions, chicken, and lots of cheddar cheese. The combination was amazing and I can't wait to try some of their app's and other meals! The only reason I cannot give it 5 stars is that the service both times was friendly, but really slow even though the place was not busy.

  • Lee S.

This isn't a bad place. Always pretty busy when I'm there and good place to watch sports. The food is average. Some people mess up frozen food, Coops doesn't. So if you like Not messed up Frozen Food this place is ok.

love this place, great food, wonderful atmosphere and an outstanding staff. Watch any of your favorites from the masses of flat screen throughout. Play darts or just sit and chat. Got to try the drunken meatballs (OMG), steak tips to die for, and oh, did I mention great desserts.

Everyone here is very friendly. The bartenders and the waitresses are cute, the food is well priced, and surprisingly, much better than typical bar food! The owner even comes out to greet you and knows you by name. You can park here or take the bus here (220, 222). Lots of plasmas and they can show multiple channels at one time. They'll be glad to change the channel for you by request. I think Tues/Wed nights are pizza special nights. VERY inexpensive. My friends love it! My favorite is the stuffed seafood mushrooms. Better than I've tasted at any seafood restaurant! The burgers and tips are very good as well. It's typical American cuisine. They used to have trivia nights. It was pretty easy to win points. Each time you won, you'd win a ticket. At the end of the night, they'd draw and give away sports tickets. We won Celtics tickets the first time we played! They are working on an entertainment license for music, etc. They also sponsored my bowling team (Coops T shirts)! I can even walk here :)

I came here around my 21st birthday to have a beer with my father and get some lunch. I ordered Chicken Marsala, which I was not a huge fan of. The flavor of the mushrooms seemed to overpower the sauce and overall, the dish was a bit on the dry side. I would recommend getting a beer here but please note it is a Sports Bar, not really conducive to a party atmosphere. I would recommend you give their micro-brew "Coop's House Brew" a try.

Fantastic food. Some of the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. They cut it crinkle style and it's fresh. It's also the first time I ever had American Chop Suey and Coop's was absolutely the place to try it. Steak tips here are also pretty good. There's a good amount on the menu that looks interesting. Buffalo bourbon meatballs, fried mac and cheese and a bunch of other stuff. It's also one of the cheaper places I've encountered, yet food quality does not suffer by any means for this. They also have $2 pizza Mondays and Tuesdays, which I have also yet to try.

the review below mine pretty much says it all. great food, great atmosphere, great staff. this place is very low-key during the week, although it seems like it gets pretty packed on weekends. lots of TVs and pro sports games on, but not a lot of belligerent drunk attitudes, or at least i havent seen that yet. the vibe has always been chill and pleasant when i've been in there. their pizza is very tasty, the other apps are great, they bring you popcorn with your beer, and they are fairly attentive with refills :) the staff friendliness is exceptional and is probably the reason i enjoy this little place so much. that, and watching the Celtics :)

I had an awful experience here regarding the service. A group of us wanted to grab dinner, we were told to sit on the bar side because there was a large party in the dining room and only one server was there. We sat down at the bar and waited about 10 minutes before anyone came over. The waitress came and took our drink order and gave us a menu. She came back 10 minutes later with our drinks and took our order. About half an hour later, we still got nothing. We couldn't even get a hold of the waitress to ask about our order, so we went up to the bar to ask one of the employees. He checked the system and said the order was just put in. We then asked to speak to the waitress and she was no where to be found. There was no apologies, nothing what-so-ever. The other employee we spoke to kind-of just shrug his shoulder. TERRIBLE SERVICE, I WILL NEVER GO BACK.

This is the ugly step sister of the attached Yesterday's. Bartender was a pony-tailed biker looking guy who personified his stereotype of the surly bartender. Un-observant. Watched him count his tips while my glass sat empty. Was visibly annoyed that I asked him what the Coop's Brew was. Dropped the tab in front of me. I observed no one else had a tab in front of them. Yesterday's next door has a friendly staff, fun karaoke, and much more fun vibe.

Can't say much about the bar atmosphere here, but I've been here countless times for the cheap pizza nights and I am never disappointed. Can't argue with free popcorn either!

The food and service at Coops has always been mediocre. Tonight it was abysmal. There was an extremely loud party that upset several of the tables. The waitstaff tried to get them to quiet down. Service was very slow, perhaps not expecting the large loud party? And food was undercooked. Our food and drinks ended up being on the house because it was so bad. We won't be back.

It's tough to find a bar that has the 3 essential ingredients of being Great. 1. Great Atmosphere 2. Great Food 3. Great Staff You'd be hard pressed to find a more aesthetically pleasing bar in Quincy. A dozen or more TVs show everything sports and all UFC pay-per-views which you will not find anywhere on the South Shore never mind just Quincy! The previous review about frozen food...BS! There is very, very little frozen food here. The food is just awesome and the specials are always different and delicious. Try the Drunken Buffalo sauce on just about anything...just amazing! Great pizzas, the house made marinara is chunky and tasty, the onion strings are handmade and divine...I've never had a bad meal here. You'd also be hard pressed to find a better, more attentive staff in the State! Very knowledgeable bartenders, great servers and the kitchen crew is great. Always friendly and always ready with another beer! If you want a good time with an even better meal, check it out. Just make sure you utilize spell check 5 years after your original post!

Coops has officially lost a star and more than likely a regular customer. They started charging a cover for the fights! And $10.00 at that. How do you go from no cover to $10.00? I was shocked when we went in on Saturday night like we always do when there is a UFC fight to be asked by the owner at the door for $10.00 each. i thought about saying no and leaving, but we were already there. What makes me the most disappointed about this cover charge is that Coops is packed on fight nights. Like can barely move packed so they have to be making a killing on these nights. L and I along had a $85.00 tab that night from drinks and food and then we always tip our bartenders well. I can't be spending an extra $10.00 on top of that when your not even guaranteed or likely to have a seat. It's just disappointing and feels a little greedy to me. Also, the owner kept some seats at the bar reserved for a good 30 minutes next to us for a "special customer" the bartenders were getting so many complaints from people without seats who wanted to sit down and order food and couldn't. The bartenders expressed their disappointment with the decision of the owner to many people because lets face it, their losing tips, the place is losing business and its just a bad experience for everyone who has to stand behind these empty chairs. For the record, the kid (seriously) who came in eventually with his girlfriend mentioned how he had never even been there before and helped the owner fix his iphone.. I guess that was why he was a special customer. He also spent the majority of the night with his tongue down his girlfriends throat. I have no problem with PDA but at one point the owners wife had to come over and start banging on the bar for them to stop. haha. But really Coops, get rid of the cover. it's just a slap in the face to the regulars who spend a lot of money there.

Over the past several months I've been coming to Coop's quite often as it is within walking distance to my new place, which is really the only saving grace. Everything about Coop's is hit-or-miss. The service is absolutely awful 90% of the time. When you can manage to get one of the older servers you're golden however if you get one of the younger women you may as well just belly up to the bar as you won't see much of them and when you do it's hardly worth it. Last night for instance it was nowhere near busy and I sat for over ten minutes before I saw my server and over the course of the 90 minutes I was there she came by no more than five times to take orders, drop off drinks, and the check. The pizza is good, it's fairly over priced so I recommend going on Monday-Wednesday nights when they have $2 cheese pizza with $1 toppings but it's not worth it otherwise unless you're just going with a plain cheese. Other than the pizza the drunken buffalo meatballs are great, buffalo chicken is alright, nachos are great, chili is spicy and really hits the spot. Basic pub food. The beer selection is typical of a local bar nothing special, decent prices. Plenty of televisions. Keno. It's really got everything you need but doesn't go quite far enough to make it an enjoyable experience. Overall it's not bad. Try to sit at the bar or search out an experienced server and you should be all set.

Coops is great. It's a great place to watch the game, grab lunch and have some drinks. Try the turkey club sandwich, it's really good!! Sandwich was huge, and tasted great! The food and drink prices are reasonable, and the staff is very nice. Coops is also very clean, which is a plus. Plenty of space at the bar, but probably not for UFC fights. We have tried to go to Coops a few times but there hasn't been parking, so we had to go somewhere else. That's why they lose 1 star.

Maybe it's because I'm no longer in my early 20s, thinking that free popcorn is the ultimate restaurant experience, or maybe its just because I'm writing this review after NOT having spent an evening chugging beer at Coop's bar but, whatever the reason the review is simple: The food in this place stinks...really, really stinks. I went with two friends. I had the haddock with roasted potatoes. It was god-awful. The fish might have been ok but whatever they seasoned it with was vile. The potatoes had obviously been in the cooler since the last World Series; they were limp and tasteless. My one friend had the shrimp scampi. Just forget it. The pasta was like paste, the shrimp not browned in butter but boiled and thrown on top. It was just foul. Even the bar food - the nachos with chili - didn't work. And the drinks...well, they got the beer right. Ok, that's it. Go for a beer. Go for the TVs, go because your softball team just won. But definitely do not go for the food! It doesn't get much worse.

I give this a 3 star rating at best, but I think they can do better..... I sent the following e-mail to their contact person just now... I thought I'd write my own review before I post it online.... I visited your place this passed Saturday evening. Love that you serve pitchers of beer... however, from the time our party (4) sat (in the dining area) until the time we got our food was at least an hour! I ordered the chicken broccoli pizza! I think the broccoli was previously bad, even before it was frozen. You should try Owen O'Leary's chicken broccoli pizza in Brockton... It ROCKS! My friend got the very tough steak and cheese. Another friend got the chicken pot pie in the bread bowl, which was pretty good comfort food, except that some of the chicken was very rubbery! Another friend has the regular cheese pizza, and at $5.00 how can you go wrong? The portions are most certainly enough for two!

Everything is great!!!! Food, staff, venue and drinks. Especially like the pizza and bread bowls. All apps are fun, delicious and reasonable. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Coop's has become my new "old reliable" They have good, inexpesive food, a good atmosphere, and great service. If you are looking for a good bar to hang out at, someplace to grab take out pizza from, or a comfortable place to watch a game on many large TVs, Coops won't let you down. They have weeknight pizza/pitcher specials, weekly cheep drink specials, and 16oz mixed drinks so there's also plenty of quality value drinkin' to be done here

I've been to Coop's a few times with my friends, and although it is rather dive-y, you can't help but love the $8-15 pitchers and bar food. I would probably give Coop's a 2.5 because I don't necessarily like going out of my way to come here-- only when I am meeting people right after work. However, I've feasted upon their nachos, jalapeno poppers, and cheese pizzas before, and they are pretty tasty...greasy, but isn't that why you order them? For the sake of my list, I will go into detail about their nachos. When I first came to Coop's many, many months ago, I spied the other table's platter of nachos, and it took a lot of restraint to not ask for some of their's! This platter is beastly...a sight to behold. A few trips later, my friends and I were finally able to try them. Coop's nachos include chili, jalapenos, cheese, black olives, diced tomoatoes, and onions on top of tri-colored tortilla chips. They also come with sour cream and salsa on the side. I thought the nachos were good, but they just didn't meet the high expectations that I set for them. I'm not sure if I would order them again because, although they definitely give you enough bang for your buck, I was turned off by the almost stale chips and "chili" that was too watery and lacking enough meat. However, our great server was more than happy to bring us more cups of salsa and sour cream which Overall, their nachos were better than many places I have been too, just not just top of my favorites. However, I will probably come back to Coop's because it gets me out of my own hometown bars and restaurants. It is a huge place with great service and a not-too-sketchy crowd. If hungry, I'll order their jalapeno poppers or pizzas again-- those are very satisfying. For my "Nacho Average Reviews" list: almost 3 stars.
