High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. You should also avoid Avocado Bacon Burger and Monterey Melt as both these burgers contain a high amount of fat. Sweat & Spicy Bacon Burger will add extra 1080 calories in your diet so skip that as well. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

Owner Matt was super awesome and helpful. Got their house chowder; had all sorts of seafood bits in it and big ol' pieces of lobster. Could possibly be the best Seafood Chowder that I've ever had. Got their feast plate. Good idea for the palate, bad idea for the stomach. Way too much food for one individual to consume (somehow I managed to do it, fries excepting). Haddock was flaky with a nice cornmeal crisp exterior. And the clam strips. Oh my goodness, they were whole-clam clam strips, not the rubbery frozen kind, but you could even taste the mealy part of the clam, it was the only time I've had this kind. It was amazing. Scallops plump and juicy. I could keep on going but I would then be just ranting. Will be back for their whole lobster dinner.

Nice family owned business. I like to come here when I'm craving seafood since it's the most convenient for me. I usually order the Super Sandwich Special, which comes with your choice of a sandwich, chowder, and side for $12.99. It always fills me up. I also like the fried clams, which have a nice batter to them and aren't greasy. I only wish that some of the fried seafood plates were larger and that they stay open later. They close at 6:30pm Tue-Wed and at 8:00pm Thur-Sat.

Clam chowder - A+ - super tasty Lobster bisque - B - I've had better. The taste was a little off. I can't quite put my finger on it. Lobster Roll - A+ perfect on baguette Recommend if you love seafood that's fresh.

Burke's has good quality seafood, even though the portion size may be smaller (than Tony's). I thought the lobster roll here was more fresh. The fisherman's platter was ok. The batter could use a bit more taste. The seafood chowder was on point though. It was teemed with bits and pieces of seafood. The broth had a good creamy consistency. Seating could be limited during high traffic, so plan accordingly!

You won't get more friendly service anywhere else! I wanted Lobster and went to Stop and Shop first to price check. They were $11.99/lb at Stop and Shop for crappy looking lobster. So I decided I would go to Burke's and get them even if they were a little more. Not the case! $8.99/lb. Lesson learned: just because Burke's is a locally owned fresh fish market with an awesome selection and stellar staff doesn't mean their prices are inflated. Get your fish here, you won't regret it! Oh! And their stuffed quahogs are so good!!

Soft shell crab season? Just another reason for me to make a visit to Burke's Seafood! If you haven't already signed up for their monthly newsletter, go to their website and do so right now. This is how I know what's in season and what's fresh at Burke's. I've had soft shell crabs at many restaurants (Lincoln 51, Atlantic Fish, ICOB) and Burke's does it the best. Tasty, natural flavors in a light coat of batter. You can order it straight up, or in a sandwich as well. I also had the haddock sandwich with rings as well. The rings are thinly cut and sweet! Seafood heaven =) Someone give me another excuse to return to Burke's!

This is an excellent fish market that also serves cooked food, both friend and broiled. The fish and seafood are super fresh. The cooked food is delicious also. I love their fried clams, and fish and chips. No table service for dining in. You order, pay, pick up your food, and bus your own paper/plastic. Only about 6 or 7 tables in the entire dining area. Park around the corner (in back) in a free parking lot as parking is tight on Billings Road. Burke's has been around for about 50 years, maybe longer, and my family have been patrons practically since day 1. And we are fussy! Go now. My favorite fried seafood in Quincy. I prefer Burke's to Grumpy White's.

Burke's is Quality, Quality, Quality. Got there at an off peak 3:30 PM for a late lunch. Had a big hankering for some deep fried belly clams and could not resist the lobster and chowdah special. So I got both. Clams were out of this world crispy and generous. The clam chowdah was dead on perfect in taste/texture and classically simply prepared. Lobster was what you thought it'll be, fresh, sweet, and cooked just right. Dining room is a self serve annex next door to their fresh fish store. You might luck out and find yourself dining alone for a zen-like meal during an off peak time.

This is a small place in Wollaston. On a rather busy Billings St, it is not too tough to find this place in the middle of a row of restaurants. They have made the max use of the space they have, very efficiently. Divided into 2 parts, the main entrance brings you into a store where they sell seafood - both fresh as well as cooked to-go items on the menu. You will find most of the traditional fried sea food and sides to go along here. I have dropped in a couple of times when my craving for fried clams got the best of me and I could not get a parking spot near Wolly beach to pick something from one of the clam boxes which I go to a lot. Fried food here at Burke's is very ok. The dinner portions are not that big but they taste pretty much the same, as you get at other alternative restaurants on the beach. The menu is limited in comparison but they do have some specials. There is also a freezer next to the counter with prepared frozen entrees to go. The section next to the main counter / seafood market is the small restaurant where you can sit and eat. I have never had a sit down meal here so cannot comment much about that. Parking can be a challenge sometimes here too but when it is that crowded on Wolly beach, your chances of getting a spot here are much higher and faster if you can park in one of the side streets. I have tried their clams, the clam strips, calamari and onion rings. I don't buy fresh seafood here because a) your choices are limited and I couldn't find some of my favorite fillets here and b) the prices are just the same or slightly more expensive in comparison to other places in Quincy - so many places to chose from. All in all, a handy alternative for a quick grab n go for fried clams. 3 to 3.5 stars.

One star is based on only the order I had. Lobster roll on a baguette? Nah. Not my style. The lobster was fresh, smell of lemons wafting through the shop, nice. Friendly people beyond expectation but I had a lobster roll on a baguette. Nah. I had a choice. I could have had a hot dog bun but I chose the baguette. They offered and I went for it. Nah. $19.25 comes with your choice of onion rings, fries or cole slaw. That's my rating.

The Lobster, scallops and fish & chips were all great. I had read about the place on yelp and we wanted to try it during our trip. We were staying out west of Quincy so it was easy trip over to the location. You order at the counter and wait for a table to open up and sit down. We only had to wait a few minutes for our table, since we were a little later in the night. They said they were busy all day and had just slowed down a little. Each of the items were fresh and cooked simply, but done well. The focus was on the fresh fish not the sauce or breading.

Delicious clam and seafood chowder! Quaint little place with good food. Quick and friendly service. I would definitely recommend Burke's if you are in Quicy and looking for a tasty bite! Will definitely be returning!

I had the fish and chips. Fish was Haddock. It was OK. Was a bit pricey I thought at $10.99. My son had the lobster Mac'n Cheese. Was pretty much Mac and little bit of lobster. Clam chowder was good and the most authentic we had over the four days in Boston. Pretty heavy on the clams! Beer choices were good for sure from the fridge. Ordering and delivery were straight forward however this was a simple dining experience. Order at the cash and food delivered to your table (If one's available). Not a place for a first date anyways. Decor is more fish shop than seafood restaurant.

In the area for the Boston Marathon, we looked for a place to get good seafood. We ate at Legal Seafood our first night and were disappointed. Fortunately, a few nights later, we got on the wrong train and ended up in North Quincy. We checked Yelp for seafood and found this gem. Lobster roll, seafood salad roll, onion rings and French fries were all fresh and delicious! The portions of seafood were generous, there was little mayo in the mix, and the buns themselves were also fresh. The owner was friendly, prices were very reasonable, and you could tell that this place had been in business for a lot of years and would continue to be for a lot more. This is one of the best meals we had on our entire Boston trip.

I came here at night and met the Owners son Matt. What a nice guy! He helped me with the Menu and suggested the Fish and Chips and Clam Strips. Both were somewhat crispy and I really enjoyed the Portions. I think I Paid $22 all together. The only gripe I had was that I thought the Fish and Chips would come with home made chips. Sadly it was just fries. But over all I was satisfied! Not like that greasy Tony's Clam Shack or the Clam Box on Wally Beach. Thanks Matt, Family, And Staff!

Cyndy's Bottom Line: Delicious lobster rolls! We stopped here to have a lobster roll based the Yelp reviews and enjoyed it! The lobster was cooked perfectly mixed with a little bit of celery. The split top bun was grilled golden and buttery. Ordered onion rings and it was delicious. Thin strings with a light batter and crispy. Good hearty clam chowder.

Burke's Seafood started out as a simple family-run neighborhood seafood market. According to a newspaper article posted in the single person restroom out back of the dining space named the "Portside Room", they expanded into this space next door in 2009, where there were 9 tables set for two or four apiece. Yet, when we arrived one winter's evening, they were still a simple, family-run, neighborhood place. The pair seated in the market awaiting seating in the room next door were relatively recent regulars, having only discovered this place a few years before our inaugural visit, and were happy to share their joy of the place and to give these newbies a few tips on how things are handled here. So, while we waited for a table to be cleared for us, we checked out the paper take-out menu. Once we were sat, we set things down as we were instructed and joined the line out in the market that had magically appeared during our brief stop in the dining room. We placed our order with Dick Burke, the proprietor of the establishment as IDed by the photo posted with that article, paid, sat back down, and very shortly after, Margaret Burke (proprietress as per same article photo) came over to deliver our dinner fresh from the fryer. Water, napkins, ketchup and such were set by the trash and recycle bins - speaking of which, please do NOT toss the black trays out. Their Fisherman's Platter, haddock, scallops, whole clams, french fries & cole slaw $19.99 came lightly fried in a puffy batter, with a count of 9 each scallops and clams. The seafood were all fresh and meaty. The fries could have done with a longer bath in the fryer, but that could be fixed by the advice volunteered by another diner of requesting extra crispy generally. The cole slaw was fresh and crisp, though not quite to be considered a sweet sort. Eyeballing a neighbor's broiled fish dinner, the so called small 6oz portion seemed much more generous than the fish normally served at a sit-down restaurant. If you're looking for something for later, they have a selection of homemade oven-ready entrees in their freezer. Currently on my short list of things to try: Jumbo Lump Crabcakes, their chowders, something broiled with either the rice pilaf or roasted potatoes, fish tacos... The only thing missing - real veggie options.

I received an email from Yelp and decided to try it. I got the seafood platter, fried haddock, clam strips and scallops. The haddock did not have much flavor. The clam strips were good but the scallops were below my expectations. I bit into one of the fries and there was a rancid taste. I always have a great experience at Mike's in Wollaston and will continue to go there.

if you are looking for something different than all these overhyped reviews, this is the one to look at. i came here because of the good reviews afterall. I dont care what kind of seafood place you run, fish and chips is the most common staple. kind of like how new chefs applying for restaurants will often be asked to make scrambled eggs..... also kind of like how every chinese restaurant will have a general gao's chicken. how you do your fish and chips tells people alot about how you run your establishment. breaking it down, batter: dry, flat and musky batter, taste of overnight oil, overfried, falls off the fish... fish: dry, bland, chewy jerky texture... chips: lazy thick cuts of potatoes, mushy, almost makes you wish you had ordered mashed potatoes instead. fried calamari was the same batter, lacking in heat and seasoning, pretty average. service was fine, experience wasnt bad to the point that i woukd never come here again, maybe the rest of the menu is better like fresh crabs and lobster rolls.

It's ripping my heart to give a well-respected, family-run local joint a measely 3 stars but frankly, my experience the other day wasn't even worth that. As first-timers, we managed to walk in, peer into the seating area, debate whether we should sit or order first, and still not get acknowledged by the three staff members behind the counter. Mind you, there was no one on the phone ordering take out, no customer at the counter itself, and no one eating in the dining area. Finally, I asked if there was a server and received instructions to order at the counter and sit ourselves. 25 minutes or so later, the small dining area is now full and I'm convinced Mr. & Mrs. Burke went to Wolly beach to harvest my meal. Then I realized that every customer seated after us has received their food. The staff member who took my order notices as he's running food to another table and alerts the kitchen. Our food finally comes out and it unfortunately wasn't good enough to redeem the poor experience. Clam Chowder - Creamy, full of potatoes, and I'll give you 5 bucks if you manage to find a clam in the bowl of chowder. Fisherman's Platter - Portion was adequate for $20. Fish was fried well and there were about 6/7 pieces each of fried clams and scallops. Onion rings were thin, limp, and blah. Slaw was bland and seemed like it consisted solely of cabbage. Fish & Chips - Two decent sized filets that were again, fried well. Fries were fine, slaw was not. I will say that Mr. Burke himself came out to apologize for the food delay and offered a gift certificate for next time without any prompting which is respectable and is appreciated. Hope to update this review soon, but until then.....

This local joint is pretty good. I ordered the lobster salad roll (baguette), crab burker, lobster bisque, and the lobster mac & cheese. My wife likes the crab cake a lot and it has a good amount of meat in it. The lobster salad was not what I expected as it was not that tasty. But the baguette was excellent (crunchy outside and soft inside, I know you know). Mac and cheese was pretty good and my kids likes it. But what do they know? The lobster bisque was very creamy but lacked lobster meat. I would say a bowl had at most maybe a claw amount of meat in it. Overall it's pretty good but it costs a pretty good penny also. I mean I would order here again but maybe stick to the crab cake burger for 10.99.

My wife got the lobster roll on a toasted bun and I ordered (and devoured) a small order of whole belly fried clams. Very good! If in Quincy, stop by for lunch or a snack - very good.

We stopped in for one last seafood meal before heading home, and I am glad we did. My scallops were perfect, and the fries were done proper. My wife's fish tacos were great and the surprise of the meal was my kiddo's chicken strips. Those little buggers were damn tasty! Of course almost everything was fried, but it was fried well, and since we were on vacation what the hell. I would absolutely say this was worth a little detour on the way back to Logan from the Cape. Well done Burke's My 2 pennies

The freshest seafood ever prepared expertly. A wide variety of selections are available. Mostly take out, but there is a small area for dining in after you order if you prefer. We arrived 5 minutes before closing, and the owner kindly let us eat in even though it was so late. Delicious, ultra tender clam strips, delicate onion rings, and super fresh broiled halibut sandwich made for a delicious dinner! Definitely go for the baguettes..they were amazing. Thanks, again, for accommodating us!

Let me start off by saying that the crab cakes from this place are phenomenal. I never knew this place existed until my husband and I took a little walk around the area a few years ago. Burke's is original, unique, and not overpriced. Seafood is fresh and tasty, and they participate in Quincy's restaurant week when it's that time of year. They also sell seafood dinners that you can enjoy dining in or carry out. Last time I was here we bought a pound of tiger shrimp, which I made an awesome curry with. Tasty and well received! All asked where I got the shrimp -they thought I went to a market in Chinatown or something. Family were surprised when I said that I went to a seafood shop around the corner :) You can't go wrong with Burke's :)

I was staying at a hotel in Quincy and this place seemed like the top local joint. What a treat! Walking into this place is what you imagine a sea food joint in New England to be. It's a tiny little joint, with a super friendly staff and a great menu. I had a delicious fish sandwich with some onion rings. They were both fantastic. The highlight though was the clam chowder. I think this is the best chowder I've ever had .Everything was fresh and delicious. It's a great little family owned place. I wish I could bring it back with me to NJ. Cheers.

I go to Burke's a few times a month and have tried just about everything at this point. The fried seafood is excellent, the crab cakes still rival the ones I get at the Maryland seashore, the chowders are to die for, and the fresh fish is excellent quality. The service is also terrific and the staff is knowledgable about cooking techniques for the fresh seafood. Most of the frozen take home dinners are of high quality as well. I just love this place. It's a great neighborhood joint.

They don't have any condiments. No lettuce, tomato, pickle, ANYTHING to go on the sandwiches or with a meal. So basic. And they close way too early in the evening.

So I made an appointment at a salon in Quincy (pronounced Quinzy) and since I just moved here from Austin I thought it wise to grab lunch beforehand. The reason it was wise? I chose to go to Burke's. Now, being from Texas does not mean I am a dummy when it comes to seafood. We have amazing options coming out of the Gulf, however, the kind of fish I am familiar with are...pardon the pun...completely different animals. The owner, and his son?, were behind the counter and I immediately told them I needed help ordering. I know I don't like cold lobster so the lobster roll was out. They directed me to the haddock chowder and I ordered a clam strip sandwich on baguette with the combo. It also came with fries and cole slaw. I picked this place based on yelp reviews and knew the fries would be excellent (they were!), but the chowder blew me away. A creamy broth but not thick and overpowering like so many knockoffs...very light and the fish was delightfully tender and full of flavor. The clams were thick and even fried I could tell they were fresh. When I left and complimented the owner I told him that baguette made the sandwich even better. Just go here if you want seafood, you won't regret the decision.

This is a great place for many reasons: 1. The place is located on a street with fairly ample street parking. Never had an issue finding a place to park. The interior is fairly small, but their menu has everything that you need, and even a small dining area that can fit a few couples and maybe 1 family. 2. The seafood tastes great. I got a lobster roll on a baguette - which should be the new meta for lobster rolls. The baguette was totally crunchy, yet so soft and chewy once you get into it. The lobster had a nice amount of celery and not to much mayo. This was a much better pairing than the hot dog roll that so many other places offer (Burke's does also). 3. Clam chowder was thick, hot, and delicious with plenty of clams. Fried Haddock was great, tender on the inside, great crispy batter on the outside. The fries that came with the Haddock were also addictive, thicker cut than normal, but very tasty. 4. Stuffed clam was good, nothing special, but yummy. 5. Service was great in the dining area, they don't really have a dedicated waiter since you order at the counter and they bring you your food, but they're nice enough to ask if you need extra sauce and helps you clean up your tables.

I grew up in New England and this was the best lobster roll I've ever had. Fresh, light, and so flavorful. Get it on the traditional split hot dog roll. It was grilled and buttered and perfect. The owners were so nice and accommodating and the food came out very quickly. We sat out front with a cold bottle of white wine and enjoyed our lobster roll and fried clams while the sun set. Everything was excellent (including the cole slaw, fries, etc.). I can't wait to go back.

Nothing caps off a day at the beach like fried seafood. Burke's does that up perfectly, in a no-frills atmosphere. You're in a small dining area eating off paper plates on formica tables in your flip flops, and the food is stellar and reasonably priced. That whole scenario is absolutely ideal. So many seafood places by the beach are tourist traps. Not Burke's! I got the fried whole clam plate, and they were fresh, tender, and cooked just right. Not too chewy, nor sandy as I've unfortunately experienced at other places. The coleslaw was great too. Sometimes I find coleslaw to be too sweet or too mayonnaisey, but this stuff was just right. In addition, they have a market attached. All the fish in the case looked good (and didn't smell), and was more expensive than the crap you find at Stop & Shop. It's about on par with Whole Foods in terms of price, but the quality/freshness is way better at Burke's. We took home some freshly caught salmon. It was exceptionally flavorful and there were no pin bones to deal with. If you want to impress someone and make them think you're an awesome cook, get a quality piece of fish at Burke's to start. Then, just follow America's Test Kitchen's recipe for pan seared salmon so the flavor of the fish is front and center, whip up a little lemon caper butter and soak up the compliments. I'm looking forward to making Burke's part of my grocery shopping routine even though it's 20 minutes out of the way. Totally worth it.

Perfect fried haddock! The crab cakes are delicious. A knowledgeable & friendly family fish market & restaurant. Love, love, love this neighborhood gem.

I was here a few months ago with a friend on his recommendation--the food was excellent, and as a non-local, it'll be a place I return to if I'm ever in the area again. I had the seafood chowder and a lobster roll. The chowder was delicious, and the lobster roll was heavenly. I've never had a lobster roll before, and this definitely seemed to set the bar high. The bread was supremely buttery, and the lobster, et al. meat inside was--dare I say--delectable. I was lucky and grabbed a nearby street parking spot during lunch hour. I could see how parking would normally be a problem, but this seems endemic to the entire Boston metro area.

Best fried calamari I've ever, ever had. They cook it *perfectly*. The fish tacos are decent, though a little too much salsa. Their fish & chips is also perfectly cooked. My only complaint is that they're closed Sundays! I went there yesterday craving squid and their closed sign just laughed in my face. There may have been some tears.

Best seafood around. Been going here for years, can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I usually get the baked haddock w/ rice plate, delicious. The food is unbelievably fresh every time I go. It is family run and the owners are always on site and very friendly.

went there for dinner in the dining room. Had fisherman's platter for $20.00+ While the taste was decent, this was the tiniest portion of food for a fisherman's platter that I have ever had! I would say it was about 1/2(at best) of the quantity you would get at any another restaurant. What a ripoff! The size of the dining room was a little bigger than a closet. I will not come here again.

Excellent meal! Loved the seafood chowder, it had plenty of seafood and the consistency was just right. I thought the lobster bisque were a little sweet. Had the lobster roll, it was fully loaded with lobster meat and claw meat. Lastly the onion rings were perfect. My daughter said, 'this IS the real Thing". At the end of the day, we had great seafood for four for under $80. Given the chance, I will definitely come back for more.

This time I ordered a cup of delicious seafood chowder and decided to try something new, fried fish tacos. The chowder was prefect, but the tacos is not as wonderful as I expected. Maybe If I tasted the tacos before the chowder, it would be better, because compared to the creamy chowder, the lightly chilly tacos tasted weaker, and it could be an appetizer for me. Anyway, nice place to have dinner again.

I went there for a takeout: Lobster roll (fresh, over floating lobster meat on a toasted hotdog bun with a side of shredded onion rings), small bag of fried whole clam (crispy, large, and melts in your mouth kind). The man at the counter was pleasant and food came out fairly fast. I wonder how their dinner plate is like so I'd come back again!

My family and I loved Burke's. We went early on a Saturday (5:30) to make sure we could get seating for five. I had the seafood chowder, lobster roll and onion rings. It was a perfect lobster roll - generous amount of cold lobster meat, very little mayo and a nicely grilled hotdog bun. My kids had the lobster special, fried shrimp and fried haddock and they voted Burke's the best French fries ever! My husband had the crab cakes and the broiled haddock dinner. Everyone loved their meals. Food was served quickly and the staff are very friendly.

I've been here quite a few times with my family. The people behind the counter are friendly and welcoming and they are glad to serve you. The owners of the place (the Burke family) are also very nice as they are the people behind the counter :P. However, they're prices overall are a bit higher than what I would expect for a seafood place. I mean, $9.99 for fish and chips? That's a bit over the top. But what you pay is worth it. Once the kitchen/waiting staff bring your food to you, you can already smell it. Once you cut open the fish, juice already starts coming out. Delicious food overall here. I would HIGHLY recommend coming here for a great seafood lunch/dinner. :)

Easily my favorite place for good, simple fresh seafood. When dining in, I usually get salmon or bluefish when available which they do perfectly. Tasty as anything! The fish tacos are excellent too. Though I try to stay away from fried options, I can't help scarfing up others' leftovers- great fish and chips. The key in this place is the freshness of the fish, and I have been spoiled as such here that I feel like a fish snob. Everywhere I go is measured against Burke's. I always buy my fish here if I decide to cook at home and have a tough time trying to buy something as good anywhere else in January when they close for a few weeks for vacation. It never stacks up to Burke's fresh fish. The place is small and cozy, the people are great, especially the owners who are always there to take your order, cook it and accommodate your needs with quick service. And the stuffed quahoags! How could I forget?! The best ever. All others are measured by them and never stack up. They are perfectly browned with a spicy kick that always keep me coming back for more. I recommend them highly. If you like cooking at home, you should pick up your seafood here. If you want to dine in or take out, try Burke's. You won't be disappointed.

This is a special experience. If you're not happy, let them know. The owners (whole family there it seems) are very cool. I'm impressed by their wine selection. The picks aren't overly fancy, but I have to say for such a casual place, they made a good selection for wine and beer. Both are good. I don't think I saw a Sutter Home anywhere, but I'll have to repost about that. That bottle usually scares me, so I think I'd remember. It's fun here. You should go.

fresh DEEP FRIED SEAFOOD cooked to order!! (they've also got non-fried options for the more health conscious! Michael D. & i shared the fisherman's platter which comes with fried haddock, clams, scallops & coleslaw. we tried to make substitutions but they weren't down. we were only able to get rice instead of the fries/onion rings it comes with! ----nice & lightly battered but WHERE'S THE SEASONING? where's the signature kick? it's lacking in flavor but the texture was not bad! it also acts like a mini fish market up front where you order so you can take FRESH FISH home! I'm not sure what the hype is about Burke's, but it's in a very deserted looking area, perhaps its one of those "locals love 'em" type joints

I like the food at Burke's and the staff are quite helpful, generally. It is pricey, parking sucks unless its an after hour visit. About 6 months ago I inquired and purchased some seafood chowder. When I got it to my friend hospital room, it had morphed into clam chowder, which he does not like. He ended throwing it away without eating it. The next time I went to Burke's, I mentioned the problem, and I was told that Clam chowder is technically a seafood chowder. OK, you got me on a technicality. I wasted my money.

Been coming here since my high school days back in 2001 / 2002. This had been the go to spot for authentic mom and pop New England seafoo around Quincy. I miss this place so much now that I am in San Francisco but whenever I come back to my hometown of Quincy, I would order a fish & chip and fried clams. The couple that owns this place are genuinely nice people. They take passion in this business. Looks like their hard work paid off. When I was back in Quincy, I saw that they were expanding to the space right next to them. Congrats to them. I am sure they earned it. You have to give this a shot when you are in Quincy.

This is an unpretentious little seafood market that also has a restaraunt and has all the typical regional seafood plates that the locals love all in one place. I got the crab boil combo with "tha chow-dah," which also comes with a variety of fried favorites. It was delicious and the prices were incredibly good for something of this quality. A whole boiled crab plus all this for under $20? Get outta' here.

My friends and I started going regularly after they expanded their hours of operation. We have NEVER had a bad experience. The fish is always fresh and delicious and served up by a really friendly staff. You feel like family when you eat there. My sister and niece visited during the Summer. They walked there for lunch while I was at work. She loved Burkes and not just for their food. She had some bad experiences at the airport and with the MBTA's customer service at the start of her visit---Burke's helped save the reputation of our state--she finally found her friendly Massachusetts experience (thank you Burkes!). The last night of their trip I took them to an establishment on the water and she commented..."at Burke's it was half the price and it was better." My parents visited and they too fell in love with Burkes. (they are the type who could visit the wonders of the world but their postcards mostly talk about the great deals they got at the food establishments they eat at) My mother raved about how much they loved their reasonably-priced fish and chip lunches while they visited. Burkes is worth the trip everytime! Check them out on Friday evenings...last year they had some live entertainment which was quite good, not sure if they will continue this.

I went there yesterday evening with my dog and my boyfriend. We had a sudden craving for fried seafood, and it's convenient for us since we live by Wollaston Beach (having both Tony's Clambox and The Clam Box right by us) -- we wanted to try something new, and I had read that Burke's Seafood was a pretty good place. We got a lobster roll on a baguette with onion rings and a clam strips dinner plate with cole slaw and fries. We did get it to go because we had our dog with us (BUT they do have outdoor seating and if you brought your dog, they even have a dog bowl full of water for your pup; definitely a plus). I really liked the lobster in my lobster roll; it was the perfect blend of seasoning and mayo (not too heavy, not too light). I also liked how they gave you a choice to either have the lobster in the baguette or a hot dog bun. The lobster meat was really fresh. My boyfriend never really likes seafood and he actually ate some of the lobster roll -- that must mean it's good! We also enjoyed the fried clam strips and fries. The clam strips and fries were very crispy and were not over cooked or soggy; we've had our fair share of overcooked clam strips and fries at other places before. What we both really liked were the onion rings! They were thinly sliced onions with a thin layer of batter; so you know, you were getting real onion rings, not just battered fried flour. GET the onion rings! Even though, Burke's is great, and the service was awesome (the man at the register brought out our food when we were waiting outside), they didn't have homemade tarter sauce. Is it because we ordered out? We had packaged Heinz tartar sauce. =( sad face. Overall, I'll recommend Burke's! It's fresh, and a great convenient location with friendly staff.

I'm not a fan of those big fancy restaurants with 4 different forks and that folded up table cloth. I like those paper plates and tartar sauce in the plastic containers, where the staff are friendly not for the sake of extra tips. A place where there is no choice for dessert because the food is too good. This is a local fish store and restaurant. (+) This is a place for good seafood. I recommend this place to all my friends and suggest to try the fried clams, whole belly style. It's wicked good! Their batter is crisp and the clams are full of flavor. It might take getting used to for those who only eat the strips, but it's definitely worth the taste and cost. They sometimes have live performers, I think on Fridays? Try their chowders as well. I like their corn chowder the best. (-) Like others said, it's pricey. They do have that $6.99 special for Fish & Chips for February. I still think it's worth it to shell out that extra for their good eats and good environment. I don't want to only try their fish & chips all the time though. Be adventurous (wallet allowing)! (=) This is THE best seafood place that I've been to so far in my life. Friendly people, good food, and fun time with friends. My go-to place for fried clams definitely. Regarding that sushi grade question, I think they don't say their fish is sushi grade and they don't recommend that people eat their fish raw. My family did try it with their salmon though, despite their warning. Heh. I'm still alive and healthy... for now.. haha. But yes, I don't recommend eating their fish raw all the time.

Burke's is the kind of hidden gem that I'd expect to find along the NH/Maine seacoast. It has incredibly fresh fish and an awesome menu. This is without a doubt one of the best seafood shops I've been to in my life. Even if you're not a huge seafood fan, you should give this place a shot - it is really that good. Also, while everything here is great, the crab cakes are out of this world. As some have mentioned, Burke's is a little bit pricey, but you get what you pay for and then some. Also, if you are dead set on buying a particular type of fish, you might want to call ahead and make sure that they still have some available, as I've found that they do sometimes run out.

What a great place! Great service, great food, great atmosphere. My mother, my wife, my two kids (ages 3 and 18 months; they gave us a high chair) and I came here after reading the great reviews and I have to say that I agree with them. Here's what we had and what we thought: Chicken tenders: very tasty. Came out piping hot. Fish and chips: Fish was nice and light. Tasty. The fries were delicious. Lobster salad roll on french roll: The toasty crunch of the bread perfectly complimented the light but flavorful lobster. Onion rings: wow. Light, thin, and delicious. So good. Corn on the cob: Came out as we were finishing up (they cook them to order and we had forgotten about it) but it tasted great. Stuffed quahog: Out of control. Extremely tasty, but a little expensive ($4) The service was fantastic, too! Thanks!

Nice, friendly staff. I started out with a cup of clam chowder. It was a nice portion for $3.99. Not gritty at all, which is the way I rate clam chowder! I got the fish and chips that were specially priced ($8.95). All of it was really good. Crispy and larger portion of fries; good, tangy right-sized serving of coleslaw and two nice pieces of fried scrod. The batter was light and the fish was nice and thick. Not greasy at all. I'll be back to try out some other dishes. Oh, I was a little apprehensive to easy in a place with a fish market. I thought the smell would gross me out! No fish smell at all!!!

Simply awesome. Owners are super friendly and helpful and have been running this amazing little seafood shop for over 30 years. Everything always looks fresh and tastes amazing. Recently my neighbor shared fish chowder from Burke's and it was creamy, full of fish, and the flavor was perfectly balanced - made for a perfect dinner, paired with a salad. I typically purchase scallops, shrimp, halibut and swordfish from the store or the Milton Farmer's Market from Burke's and it's always top notch.

Shrimp from Burke's is hands down the best available. So fresh. So plump and juicy!! A recent holiday party I attended served shrimp from Whole Foods. Those limp little crustaceans can't hold a lemon wedge to Burke's fresh Shrimp Cocktail. I wouldn't be caught serving anything else to my guests this hoilday season. Hosting Christmas Eve and just placed my order with Burke's over the phone. They have such a great staff. Always helpful with serving suggestions and they really know their customers well.

My roommates originally went here a year or two ago and had mentioned the place to me and I finally got to go there recently. Awesome food and great location. All of the fish looked fresh and good in the case. And it looks like they get fresh fish every day. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I got the crab cakes dinner plate and my roommates both got fish and chips. All around total? 30 bucks. My roommate mentioned that it probably would have been closer to 80 if we had gone to Legal Sea Foods. Overall a very clean and nice shop. I'll definately be getting more stuff from them. Maybe even get some fish to cook myself. My only real complaint is they have some wierd hours. But hey, they're a small business and they can do that. Its well worth the wait.

Excellent. Fresh. Clean. Light. Affordable. Friendly. Genuine. Those are my adjectives for Burke's. Seriously reconsider your usual Quincy Shore Drive spots (though they are standards) the food, service and atmosphere just outscore them by a long shot. The prices are extremely reasonable and somehow cheaper than the greasier, maybe not quite as fresh, dive-ier places on the Drive. $7.99 for a Fish and Chips dinner? Amazing. Light batter, great fries, fresh coleslaw. We sat by the window, there are probably 7 or so 2 person tables, and one or two larger family ones, as well as a couple outdoor tables, they have high chairs, a little place to write your suggestions down, specials every day, a fish counter with EXTREMELY FRESH and wonderful looking cuts of seafood, lobsters in tanks and NO FISH SMELL somehow! The atmosphere is delightful and real: window boxes full of cheery flowers out the window and calming lighting. Music was light and relaxed too. Service was friendly and genuine-a great family run place that we need to keep in business. A+

Tried the clam dinner and fish and chips dinner. Both dinners came with french fries and cole slaw. The clams were tender and perfectly cooked. The fish were 2 good size portions of flaky cod/scrod/haddock. Yummy! Both dinners were worth the money!

After driving around for an hour trying to pick a place to eat, my friend and I settled on Burke's for an early Saturday dinner. I heard they had excellent low cost seafood and pictured a hole in the wall type restaurant. The physical surroundings were much nicer than I imagined- a small deli type counter where you order, then you sit in a tiny dining room around the corner. It was clean and there were empty tables thankfully. I ordered the small sized broiled scrod and my companion had the fish and chips. Both were adequate portions, my companion's especially with a heap of hot fries overflowing the plate. His fish was light and perfectly cooked- the coating almost fell off. My scrod was perfectly cook and simple- no frills- no excessive butter nor crumbs- the fish spoke for itself and was quite good. The check was $30 or less. We will go back!

Went here today to buy some fish for dinner. I was very impressed with the service and how helpful and responsive the staff were. I haven't eaten here yet, but based on the quality of the seafood and the staff I think I'll have to try it soon! Only gave 4 stars since I haven't actually eaten at the restaurant yet. Thanks for making my dinner great!

I live just a few streets away and just finally got around to stopping in here today! I am so glad I did. I was really super impressed. There were quite a fe "regulars" shopping in there, and I can see why. The store itself is spotlessly clean. They had a great selection and variety, and everything looked great and fresh. I bought a swordfish steak and it was fabulous. Chowder was excellent too.The prices are fair and the quality is far superior to any market in the area. I notice they have a new eating in area too. I love to support a local family business!

We were not as enthused as the other reviewers. The fish appears fresh (it is, after all, a fish market), but the preparation was pedestrian at best. Fries and fried cod were greasy. Not much seasoning and the flavor was not as fresh as we have gotten elsewhere. For example, the lobster roll was not moist.

Searched Yelp for a good looking review of a seafood place south of Boston and found Burke's. Great choice. Chowders (both the clam and the seafood versions) were delicious and the entrees - lobster roll, fisherman's platter and broiled haddock for our group - were excellent. Fast and friendly service - love the ice water pitcher on the table - and piping hot food...nice combination.

Burke's is the REAL DEAL in so many respects: fresh local product (e.g. Island Creek oysters from nearby Duxbury), friendly and knowledgable local owners (family run), and NOT content to rest on their laurels. The new dining space, expanded hours, and the recent beer and wine license are three examples. What NEVER changes is the freshness of the fish, chowders, and shellfish and the unerring commitment to serving up delicious food. Had a late lunch there recently, between the rushes. The trout was delicately seasoned and perfectly cooked. The fish and chips featured a thin, crispy breading and just-off-the-boat taste along with exceptional fries. The chowder, bisque, and even the cole slaw was way way above average. If you are headed to Wollaston Beach this summer, don't be tempted by the seasonal seafood spots on the Drive. Head inland just a few blocks instead. Several comments refer to Burke's as a "hidden jewel'...this place is a NATIONAL TREASURE.

I love this place. Wonderful fresh seafood for lunch or dinner. Super slaw. Eat in. Eat outside like I just did. Take it home, cooked or raw. Seafood is great, fried but not feeling oily. Don't try the new product fish taco. Worst of the worst, they use some old and over dry tortillas. I just pick it out, not even reach my lips, every thing fall apart. Don't put it on the menu if they are not good enough, big bad impact to your restaurant!

  • Rich S.

Well the just got better for me. They have a small selection of beers but they are fantastic! You don't find that many varieties of good beer anywhere never mind a small place like this. I loved my clam roll and chowder. And like everyone has said the cheerful attitude of the owners and staff make this place a place worth coming back to.

I go to Boston every year and this year I decided to use Yelp to find some good food. Last year I tried on my own and that did not work out well at all. So thanks to Yelp this year, I finally got to find a really delicious seafood restaurant I really like. It's a small corner restaurant with a table or two outside and a few tables inside. You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you. No fancy dishes just down right good and yummy seafood. My whole lobster and corn cob set me back $15 because it was on special. I craved oysters and got a dozen of them. It was noon time but the gentleman behind the counter was nice enough to chuckle me a dozen. I think he may have been the owner. My bill ended up being around $43 for the lobster dinner, a dozen oysters, and a ice tea. Oysters were a little more pricier then I had anticipated but they were delicious and fresh. The lobster and corn were also delicious. The food did not take very long to make and bring out. You can also get fresh seafood to go. Don't expect to come here to formally dine. Sometimes the best places to eat are informal and all about the food!

  • Eric W.

"Authentic" is an overused concept, but sometimes it's appropriate. Burke's is a "real" fresh seafood shop; it's not a gimmick, and they know seafood. As others have said, the space is clean, the air surprisingly free of fish-related offenses, and the deli display of fresh seafood is spectacular. The seafood salad sandwich and fried clams come especially recommended, though any combination seafood and fry will suffice. The sides (fries, slaw, etc.) are only average, but that puts the spotlight on the fins and claws, where it belongs. I would use the word "cute" to describe Burke's, though I'm sure the man behind the counter with strangle holds on two lobsters would object.

I have just had what I would consider one of the best fish and chips ever. It was a truly gourmet dish with quality fish without too much batter or too much fat. You have to try it out. Burke's is a very unassuming establishment in what I would say is a backwater of Quincy. When you get inside however you realise they are passionate about what they do, even down to presentation. Five big stars!

This is best seafood market Quincy has to offer and I feel very fortunate that they are right around the corner from me. I love supporting local businesses and the couple who own Burke's are always a pleasure to say hello to when I stop by. But let's get down to what counts, the seafood. I've enjoyed it for six years and it has always been above average. I'm a pescitarian so it's safe to say over the years I've tried most of the items that they carry and they have all been top quality. Oysters are always fantastic. Salmon is fresh and delicious. Monkfish is lovely. Tuna steaks are the best ever. I read the review from the previous poster, and their tuna has always been sashimi grade as far as I've been told and I eat a lot of sashimi and it's always been fantastic. I will agree that the owner is not a fan of raw seafood so that is most likely why he received that response. Their eat-in/take-out menu is very typical of New England seafood fare and I do enjoy the chowders (comfort food). Sandwiches do not include anything except fish and bread and tartar sauce if you want it. Portions are fine. If you are looking for quality seafood take out in this genre I would recommend them but I am a bit more adventurous and prefer to take their quality ingredients and do my own thing at home.

They have a good fried clam strips plate and clam chowder. I like getting take out from here and eating it at home or by the beach.

I live in Quincy and I'm a big seafood fan. Aside from buying fresh (live) fish from 88 or Kam Man, I love Burke's seafood for their fresh seafood. I have never tried anything off their cooked menu, just the fresh seafood. I have purchased lobsters, fish, scallops, and cherrystones (schucked at home and eaten raw). Each time, I was pleased with the freshness. I took a star off because the staff isn't as knowledeable as they should be....even the owner. I remember my first visit here, I asked the owner if something was sushi grade and he said to me that "Sushi Grade" varies from person to person. He also said he didn't think anyone should be eating any seafood raw. I was a little turned off and felt a little offended because I wanted to cook a yummy rare tuna steak and needed to know if his fish was safe to eat raw. However, I have been able to let that go and continue to buy fish there because it's so close to my place. Don't get me wrong, he's a friendly guy but he didn't really answer my question that one time.

The first thing I noticed when we walked into Burke's was that there was no fish smell, even though it's a fish market/restaurant. I don't know how they managed it, but was glad not to smell that fishy market smell. We dined here last night after work, I read in Yelp that their fish and chips where the sale item of the week, so I took advantage, my mate got the whole fried clams' dinner and we shared. The freshness of my scrod and the light batter where awesome the coleslaw was fresh and tasty and even the fries where not greasy. The fried clams where fat and tasty we couldn't have been happier with our meal. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, they where attentive without being in your face. Their new seating addition is kept in top condition, super clean, and tidy. We will be back time and again. It's good to know where they serve fresh seafood with excellent service. Oh and I almost forgot ... treat yourself to their New Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes! They are $4.99 ea. we had them as our appetizers. I can see myself ordering them for takeout and adding them to a nice home made salad. Yum yum!!

I was in Quincy for a few hours heard about Burke's and I was not disappointed. I had the whole belly clams which were very fresh and breaded lightly. I don't know how they did it but there was no sand! My wife had the scallps which also were lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. The seafood was very fresh. I would have liked to see a few more clams on lunch plate. We will find no trouble driving down from Somerville, this place is worth the trip!

I haven't been happy the past two times we ate here. The fish and chips was weird-I got one good piece and another tail piece with nothing but batter. The fries weren't good, either-not cooked evenly. I wont' go back.

I've only had their brioled haddock and it was delicious! I just tastes fresh and that is a major factor for me when I buy/eat fish! I really want to try their homemade stuffed quahogs beacuse I hear they are fantastic!

I moved to Quincy over eight years ago and I just went to this place for the first time. My loss-the place is great, with reasonable prices, generous portions, and friendly service. I had the fried haddock dinner, which comes with cole slaw and a large pile of great-tasting fries. As for the fish, it tasted as though it was still swimming in the ocean earlier today. Some of the best fish I've had in the past was when I had gone deep-sea fishing and cooked up my catch later that same day. It's hard to beat that scenario for taste and freshness, but this haddock was in that same league. Do yourself a favor and head on over to Burke's.

Burkes's seafood is always the freshest! Great selection and the prepared foods are excellent as well. I highly recomend the salmon burgers in the freezer section. They are pre-made and seasoned really well! Just throw them on the grill and you have a delightful burger! The other prepared foods from the fryer are excellent too such as the fish and chips, fried clams etc. The best coleslaw I have ever tasted!~ check them out- this is a hidden jewel. You'll be glad you did!

The seafood is very very good and during Lent I will be back every Friday. I cant wait to try the Lobster in a bucket and cook it up at home. The seafood is so fresh but it closes very early so call it in and pick up on your way home from work. This is a hidden gem. I been living in Quincy for 3 years and finally found this place!

Nice little place, and for those of us trying to behave, some tasty non-fried options. They even have gluten-free breadcrumbs on request. You can buy fresh fish at the counter as well. Found it on Yelp!

Stopped at this small seafood shop/restaurant in downtown Quincy. Plenty of parking and pleasant service. Lots of choices, Z enjoyed the fried shrimp, and the lobster was great. They offer fresh seafood as well as lunch and dinner. Definitely a great place to go.

It's so refreshing to know that today there are still some small stores with very polite and friendly owners/staff. Like that of Burke's Seafood. They are walking distance from my house, so that's a big plus for me. But the winner is that their seafood is so fresh. Their crabcakes are epic. One is filling enough. Their clam chowder has.....clams! not overfilled with potatoes. Their lobster rolls....actually have more lobster and less bread. Their prices aren't the lowest compared to other stores, but what you get in service, friendliness, and quality of food far supersedes their price range. I am a customer for life! I'd give them 10 stars if I could.

Some of the best fried clams I've ever had. Great little seafood shop and restaurant. The owner is hands on and very accommodating. Mom and pop places like this that really know what they're doing are 20 times better than corporate chains like Legal Seafood and are much more affordable.

I do not see another Three score, and I see all the swooning Fives. To me it ranks as the " A - OK " that the Yelp text says a Three is. I got the whole belly clam plate dinner, to go, so I could sit on the bench outside. The clams and fries were fresh and hot, no complaints there. The amount of clams was a fair shake too. I thought the clams were lacking in the belly type of flavor that I am looking for, when I spend seventeen bucks for something in a styrofoam box with an itsy plastic fork. There is another place in this City that has in the past had clams right on the money. One does not want the ball of sewerage sort of thing with a belly, but some funky taste is desirable, that is why one gets bellies. This other place I don't think always gets its clams from the same beds, depending upon red tide maybe, so the last couple of times I went in there it was not the superb experience I had had there before. Anyway, these had no character at all. I do not like teeny amount of food service tartar sauce in a squeeze tube, I want the plastic cup full, and with better quality tartar sauce as well, with noticeable dill. I want the same size container my cole slaw came in to be full of this sauce, so I can dip and swirl my slightly funky tasting clam in it. A Three means I would go back, and I would, I wouldn't get the clams though. I think there are so many Fives because it is a nicely run neighborhood place, with cute little tables out front and all.

Tried this place a week ago and I was pleasantly surprised. Read the yelp reviews beforehand and I am happy to say they were right. I had the clam chowder along with a clam strip roll and fries. The clam chowder was creamy and delicious. Clam strips were great and so were the fries. I'm planning to head back tomorrow for some shrimp gumbo :-)

Had a hankering for lobster, so headed to Burke's. We got a couple of 1.25 lb lobster dinners for 16.99 and a cup of bisque for our daughter. Everything was delicious. The bisque may have been a little rich -- a tad too buttery for my taste. But sitting outside on a beautiful day, munching on corn and crustacean -- what could be better.

I came here on a week day around dinner time and the line was out the door...however it probably took ~30 mins to get the counter and place our order, and another ~15 or 20 mins to get our order. Tucked to the side is a very small dining area, so if you're lucky, you may be able to snag a table to eat your meal; when we went, I was saddened that their pepper shakers and the bottles of malt vinegar were near empty. I got their "fish and chips" plate, where they included plenty of large fish pieces, the batter was just right and not overly dense, and you finish without feeling overly greasy. The fries and cole slaw were decent, nothing remarkable. After checking out this place only a few weeks ago, my husband has gone back on numerous occasions! Definitely a better place to get your fried seafood fix than the places along Quincy shore drive.

Lucky we found parking on the street close to the place otherwise I could see it being a big problem. When you walk in you are walking into a store with a counter and a case full of freshly cut seafood and fish. The menu is up on the board overhead. After you place your order and pay you go into the next room which is the dining room area with a few tables. We were lucky once again to get a seat. The waitress brings your meal when it's ready. When I saw the lobster roll I ordered on a baguette I was shocked to see how small it was! Not even as big as a hotdog roll and definitely not as filled with lobster as I've had at other places. It was quite tasty and I loved that it came on a baguette instead of a hotdog bun, but seriously way over priced for what you get. The fish and chips was also a small order but was fresh and tasty. The funny thing was that after our meal we were still hungry and that just sucked considering the price we paid. Not sure if I would go back or recommend this place. But if you don't mind paying a small fortune for small portions of fresh tasty seafood then this is your place.

Nice seafood place with good value, Burke's is off the beach, but worth going. I tried the fish and chips. The batter on the fish wasn't too thin yet not too thick. The fries were decent as well. You might need to use some malt vinegar, as both the fish and chips can be a bit of a blank canvas for some. Service was friendly, even on a Friday night with tons of people in line and also in the small dining area.

Burke's is my favorite of the seafood restaurants in Quincy. The food is always fresh and flavorful and even though the space is small, I've never had to wait for a table. The owners and staff are pretty friendly. So glad to have this place in my neighborhood.

What a weekend to be in Boston we arrive and the City shuts down. Our meal options were very limited in Boston so we traveled outside of the area. We Yelped this place and decided to give it a try. We were so happy we did. The place is local and very small. The service was worth ten stars. They treat everyone the same, with respect! We waited for a table ( it is seat yourself and first come first serve). Once seated they started our food. My wife had the swordfish platter. It was delicious. My daughter had the lobster Mac and cheese. She said it was out of this world. I had the crab cakes. They were excellent. All in all this place is a total five star from service to food. Go there and support a local establishment.

When it comes to seafood, I don't mess around, and Burke's is THE seafood destination in Quincy, and is actually worth the ride if you're in Boston. All the fish Is super fresh, the staff super friendly, and the food super delicious... albeit, somewhat pricey. The lunch specials are a great buy, wether its a basket or a lobster roll, you're gonna get something great. The lobster roll is pretty darn big compared to some others, stuffed full of perfectly seasoned lobster. The stuffed clams are huge and delicious. Anything coming out of the frier is amazing, nithing is greasy and it's all crisp and faaaantastic! And the Clam Chowder.... Oooooooh the Chowder! Burke's does it best. I could go on and on, but why bother? You should go try it for yourself. If you don't, you're missing out. But I won't let that stop me!

Got takeout here on the recommendation of my buddy. Needless to say it was great. I ordered the fried seafood platter and it was excellent. The batter was fried to a very light blonde color and was extremely fresh. Will certainly return.

We ordered the lobster roll, broiled scallop dinner and 2 ears of corn. Everything was exceptional. The service was quick and friendly and the prices were good. All of the fish in the display case looked very fresh and was sitting on top of a nice bed of ice. Will definitely go back when I'm in the area again. They serve beer and wine.

Fresh seafood, simple setting, family-owned, super friendly people! Got the lobster special- steamed lobster with clam chowder. The lobster was so fresh I could taste the saltwater...hmmmm delich! The clam chowder was creamy and thick, and had a reasonable amount of clam bits.

A family restaurant with quality seafood and super nice people. Food is served piping hot and comes out so quickly! It could do better in presentation and atmosphere, but other than that, a decent spot. Will come here again when I'm in the mood for comfort food.

A well-deserved 5 stars. They have an 8.99 fish n chips special Tues and Weds in November. Best fish n chips I've ever eaten. Everything else on the menu looked awesome; I'll be going back to try more. Staff was friendly. Food was FRESH. Go in and try it for yourself.. You'll be happy you did.

Hands down best fish joint in the area. Blows legal, atlantic, whatever out of the water. Too bad they're closed for the holidays right now and it's January 8th. Thus minus one star for not being open when I really wanted some fish. Edit 7/9/2013 - Forgot I had given them 4 stars over something silly. They definitely deserve 5 stars becaues: 1) Fresh 2) Always cooked to perfection 3) Variety 4) People that work there are awesome 5) Sell fresh fish and their seasonings

Fried clams are pretty good. They make them nice and crunchy. I love that there's a parking lot right behind and that they serve beer. Some days that's all I want...fried clams with a nice cold beer!

Burke's Seafood is both a seafood shop and a resturant. When you walk in, you'll be on the seafood shop side. There, you can get fresh fish & prepared meals to take home, or place your order for the resturant. (The 1st time we stopped by we must have looked confused because the staff asked if we'd been there before and explained that you order at the counter for both dine in & take out.) If you ask for your order for there, the staff will bring it to you in the resturant section. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. My husband & I have had the haddock sandwich special (with clam chowder, onion rings, and fries) both times we've dined here. It's delicious and only $11. The fish is fresh and the staff is friendly. Burke's Seafood is really a hidden gem. Thanks to the Yelpers who reviewed Burke's before me for helping me find this great resturant.

AWWW YELP, YOU LET ME DOWN! Nothing special, Just Standard Fried Seafood. Jenny S. and I got the fisherman's platter which came with fried haddock, clams, scallops, coleslaw, and a side. (We chose rice pilaf cause fries or onion rings would seem like WAYY too much fried stuff for one meal). I wanted to substitute some items for others, but they didn't let us. Michael= Sad panda. Batter was light but the food was kinda BLAND. I wish they seasoned it first or something.. A little bit of a trek to get out here... Overall the food wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't come back!

it's like going back in time to a simpler place with old fashioned seafood that is just perfect in every way. 5 of us went there on Good Friday knowing it would be a possible long wait but were pleasantly surprised as we were seated fairly quickly. 3 ordered fish & chips, 2 ordered clams - all was absolutely perfect. If you are looking for white linen tablecloths and fancy wine look elsewhere but if you yearn for the best in basic seafood cooked perfectly and always fresh off the boat come here for certain as you will never be disappointed.

We were in the Boston area in late August and stayed in the Quincy area for two nights. We wanted to eat some authentic New England seafood and found Burkes recommended on Yelp so we gave it a try. We were not disappointed. We both had the special that included Fish on a bun with fries or onion rings and a bowl of clam chowder. We enjoyed it all and loved their clam chowder. The man who waited on us at the counter was very friendly and helpful. He was selling fresh seafood to people who wanted to cook it at home as well as take orders for the sit down restaurant there. If we lived in the area, we would certainly buy seafood from Burkes to enjoy at home as well as dine there too.

I am totally new to Massachusetts and have never lived in New England before. (Native Texan) My husband and I went to Burke's almost purely based on Yelp. It is FANTASTIC seafood. I get it, some folks complain the batter on the seafood doesn't have enough seasoning.... but it isn't supposed to! I'm from Texas, the land of heavy seasoning - and next to Louisiana, where cayenne pepper is dumped in everything - Burke's fish was light, fluffy, flaky, and subtle. It shouldn't mask the fish. The way good seafood should taste. It is a tiny little place, not good for groups. Order at the counter, and has less than 10 tables in the dining area. Easy to see it is a locally owned business who does it right. I will go back, many times. We tried the clam chowder, a crab cake, fish and chips, and the broiled salmon. I recommend all them. I was impressed at how fresh and flaky it all was. I'm liking it here already. :-)

  • Catie C.

Daily Catch! They go to the pier every morning to pick their fish. I do recommend to eat their fish cooked instead of raw even though they say their salmon and tuna is sushi grade. Their clam chowder is well worth it - creamy, rich and clamy! Their steamers a scrumptious as well. Easy to make and sweet. Their stuffing for the quahog casino was yummy; but I wish I could taste the quahog more though. I will definitely come back to try more and update this review.

Burke's Seafood is the place to go if you want fresh seafood from an established mom and pop shop. They've been around, according to their website, for over 30 years serving the community as a family business. What to order: straight up steamed lobster with drawn butter, broiled fish (mom had the haddock and loved it), stuffed clams. All the food was cooked perfectly, and everything tasted so fresh. These are the kinds of places I yelp for when visiting other cities. Thanks for delivering yet another great recommendation. Now for those people who say the place is "just another fried seafood joint": STOP ORDERING just another fried seafood plate when you go to a place like this. I get it, I'm American. We like to fry the sh*t out of our foods because it tastes good and, unlike what the politicians and media want us to believe, we still have pretty kickass healthcare in this country so why not fry everything to our heart's content. Bad wording, our heart's are the complete opposite of content in this situation. Anyway, the point is, I know some places fry better than others. But, if you see a tank of live lobsters, you see freshly filleted fish displayed on a bed of crushed ice, scallops, clams, chowders, etc., you're better off ordering the broiled, grilled, and steamed versions because the food is fresh enough for that. Just get your fried food at LJS and Red Lobster.
