If you're an East Bay Grill fan and you find yourself needing a little elbow room, head over to the Waterfront grill! This place was perfect for my Thursday night date! The restaurant was very attractive and the bar was huge (filled w/ peeps in their 30's and 40's)with a few TVs! Our server Christan made us feel welcome even though my date and i sat for over two hours chatting it up. Also, there was a one man band playing off in the corner. He was fantastic! His volume was perfect to enjoy, but we were still able to carry a conversation while he was playing. The surroundings, service and entertainment exceeded my expectations but there was one negative.... the menu! There were more salad options than fish! I ordered the chicken marsala and my date had blackened salmon. Both meals were okay but not fantastic. Overall, I had a great night at this great spot! i look forward going back again...... and trying their hamburgers! ;)

This place is awesome! The staff is great! The nightlife is entertainment is always fun, with Bands, DJ's, solo acts, have not had a bad time yet. The food is great, and even better, it is consistently good, never had a bad experience! The porch and the Bar area are elevated so it has an actual view of Plymouth harbor, well done people!

I would give 0 stars if I could! Hands down the place is gross, food is overpriced and the staff sucks! We moved to Plymouth last year and we were looking for a place to grab lunch near the water, poor choice, I would rather drink water out of the harbor than go there again. First we were seated in the bar, we wanted to sit on the deck but for some reason it was closed. The bar was so loud you couldn't hear the waitress or the person across from you. I got sangria, which was all ice and fruit juice and my husband got a beer, not the one he ordered but whatever. After struggling to talk during a disappointing appetizer, one of the favorites, seasoned fries, way too much celery seed! Couldn't eat them we asked to move down stairs. Even though the room was almost empty we were sat right next to a big family, we asked if we could move and the hostess rolled here eyes. The food sucked, steak over cooked, lobster roll had a funny smell, gross! We were also stuck waiting for the check while we had to listen to the hostess flirt with a waiter. Not worth the money.

I'd like to offer my opinion of The Waterfront Bar and Grill. It is consistently my destination for lunch and dinner. We are there frequently and I've never had a bad meal. Many times the portions are enough for lunch the next day. I've sampled pretty much everything on the menu from their wonderful dinner specials to salads, sandwiches and appetizers and never have been disappointed. We find the staff to be marvelous! My impression is that the owners and general manager have formulated quite a team whose goal is prompt service, hard work and a friendly atmosphere. I love the place as do many of our friends and family who have gone based on our positive experiences. I think it is a gem in Plymouth. Lisa M. The Waterfront Bar and Grill in Plymouth is a great place to enjoy a meal or a drink with friends. It is my observation that folks who enjoy restaurants rarely write anything when they have a great experience but the folks who want to find something wrong will always find something. This place is well managed and the menu is diverse. You can get great appetizers, sandwiches, or a full meal. Daily and nightly specials are typically great as well. I've seen some folks who have been asked to leave and not return are quick to write a bad review. Well managed means these folks are asked to leave so the rest of us can enjoy ourselves. Live entertainment is usually present in the evening so, sure the place gets a bit noisy. My wife and I are regular customers because we enjoy the food and have found the service to be very good. Folks behind the bar will typically go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of. I typically give restaurants 3 tries before I count them out. I've been eating at the Waterfront Bar and Grill for well over a year and they have yet to get strike one. Enjoy! Tom M

Went to the Waterfront for a light late lunch. I thought the clam chowder was really tasty. I like the clam chowder at Cabbys, and although the Waterfront's is not as thick, it has much better pieces of clam and the chowder has an excellent flavor, also the portion is very large. My son had a lobster roll, which was bursting with large pieces of lobster and what looked like a whole tail. Very good! I had the lobster cakes served with a mango relish which was excellent. Sat upstairs with lovely views of the ocean, if you look past the parking lot. I enjoyed my meal and was overall pleasantly surprised. I will go again. I will order their chowder to go anytime as it is now my favorite.

Usually my husband and I enjoy going to Water Front Bar & Grill for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. We really like the bartenders who pride themselves on their good service. Unfortunately, Saturday night was a HORROR Show and we have no intention of returning. The main reason for our change of opinion is DJ Skip who is hired by the proprietor. First DJ Skip was literally flitting around the bar like a bus boy on speed inserting himself between customers, grabbing napkins off the bar, and being a general nuisance. Then the "show" started with DJ Skip gyrating on the bar while he was sweating profusely and ended with his grabbing one of the male bartenders by the back of the skull and thrusting his pelvis repeatedly into the bartender's buttocks. My husband randomly asked one of the bouncers(there were 4 of them) to close the atrium doors, but that displeased DJ Skip and one of the customers warned my husband to rephrase his request because people had been thrown out for less. Finally, DJ Skip announced that he wanted the audience to share a fun fact. My 30 year old daughter walked up to DJ skip and said,"Hey, here's a fun fact; I'll give you a beer if you tone down your performance." At that point DJ Skip directed the bouncer to remove my daughter, and the bouncer proceeded to push her toward the door. After this, our talk with the manager resolved nothing and the three of us left. Other customers told us that DJ Skip and his bouncers behave like this regularly. REALLY? The owner creates a place that is pristine then allows an obnoxious person like DJ Skip to tyrannize the paying customers? Not too smart!

Waterfront is aptly named due to its proximity to the bay. I personally like being seated on the deck for the best view. Food is reasonably priced for the quality. The 2 meals I can highly recommend are: the steak tips, 4 or so perfectly cooked select prices of steak. The prices they choose could almost be considered mini fillet mignons. Blackened salmon, a perfectly cooked select price of fish with a dill aiole. I'm not usually a fish orderer but this dish was amazing. Highly recommended if you are looking for great food without breaking the bank.

My fiancé and I come here on a near weekly basis. Know that, my brides maids decided to host my bridal shower here. Yet again, we were just so happy. We had the entire down stairs dining room for our function. A mimosa bar was set up in a beautiful fashion. The food was SO good and the managers and staff were so attentive. They really made a very special day even better.

They serve one of the best lobster rolls in Plymouth. It's not smothered in mayo and there's a TON of lobster. No celery to act as a filler either. The outdoor seating on the second floor has a great view of the ocean, so try to sit there. The service is usually pretty good. I wouldn't recommend coming here at night unless you're 21-25. If you're ordering vodka make sure you upgrade to absolut or something because their bottom shelf vodka is tastes like actual nail polish remover; I've ordered it a few times and the drink is inedible with it. The sangria is pretty good though. Ideal place for lunch or dinner but skip staying after dinner. Also** tourists with out of state ID be weary of this place. Bouncers don't always let people in with out of state ID (in a tourist town!!). My friend has had this problem a few times with his CT ID.

Went back again for dinner and again food was horrible. Steak tips had no flavor and were charred. My boyfriends burger was bland with no flavoring and the fries tasted old and stale. Only good thing about the steak tip dish were the vegetables. This definitely confirms that we will not be going back there ever again. It's too bad because the area is nice but they really need to get a better cook.

Our favorite bar in Plymouth; outside during the summer, upstairs in the winter. Oysters are always fresh, bartenders are always friendly and the menu is traditional enough that fellow dinner companions are always able to find something yummy.

Went this evening (Thursday) for dinner and drinks with my sister. Although we have both been around Plymouth for many years, neither of us have tried this restaurant before. We sat on the upstairs balcony with a nice view of the harbor. The service was very good - attentive without being overbearing. We ordered a scallop dinner and the plain kettle chips. We wanted to share both dishes. I had a bikini tini and my sister had a cosmo. All was excellent! I have to scallops were tender and cooked perfect. They were actually better than the ones my dad had for lunch across the street. I thought the prices were reasonable for being in a tourist area. We will definitely be back to try more dishes.

Let me see a bridal party has the rehearsal dinner there Friday night spends mega $$'s. Saturday after the wedding everyone heads there after for a drink. After taking drink orders all the way to 1AM the staff starts yelling at the guest to leave they are closing. Then Tony starts physically grabbing guest (father of the groom) to make them leave???? Do not have any events here!!!!

Recently hosted a bridal brunch/shower here, having the downstairs dining room to ourselves. It was perfect! From the initial contacts with John and Tom to the day of the event. Brooke and Michelle our waitstaff were so friendly and professional very attentive to details and guests. Food was excellent, hot, plentiful, brunch set up great. I would recommend for functions and/or just stopping for a bit or cocktail by the sea! Been there for both! Absolutely no complaints.

Excellent food. Great view. Expensive, but eating out usually is these days. I read the reviews and do not understand, sounds like a bunch of drunks. I like the one about the girl being locked outside in the cold. Or the drunks being bounced out at 1am and expecting to stay later. Moderation people. I have been eating here for over 3 years, usually come in from a day on the water and stop in for dinner. Service has always been great. Rawbar is good, not great. However, no seafood is as good as the seafood you catch and eat. What I think is true, is locals and regulars are treated first as we should be. Also, the fatso's can not make it up the stairs so that is a plus.

  • Carrie C.

Only went for drinks, but they were made well! Comfortable atmosphere, nice bartenders and good service. There are heaters at the bar so you can still be outside when it's chilly!!

    (4)
  • Matthew M.

Mediocre at best. Bartenders tend to regulars. Slow service, cold onion rings with zero seasoning. Angelina the bartender was up in the clouds.

Food is ok. Extremely loud. Waited a long time for our server. Now we are done and we have been waiting for the check for about 30 minutes and the kids are getting impatient. Don't think I would Return.

Excellent food, slow service. Waterfront views from the outside patio and live music. I ordered the Seafood Bucatini and was pleasantly surprised at the flavor. Fresh lobster, scallops and jumbo shrimp in a deliciously executed dish paired with a chardonnay. Our waiter was a bit slow and we had to wait for eating utensils while staring at our meals. However I definitely would come here again.

To clarify, the customer asked to talk to management after being treated badly by the bouncer and was asked to go downstairs and talk to manager outside. The manager promptly locked the door on her and left her on a freezing cold night out on the sidewalk without her phone or coat. When she asked the bouncer to get her stuff, he said he couldn't find it. After an hour in subzero temps she waited for the police because the bouncer said he would call them. Of course they didn't call because they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Finally my friend had to ask a woman to go in and get her stuff which they found exactly where she said it was. Another time I went in and the vibe was so bad I left immediately. Bad characters. I cannot review the restaurant. Only the upstairs bar.

Good for a drink but that's it. Our waitress kept disappearing. I ordered seafood fra diavlo which is supposed to be spicy but it was unbearably hot. I needed to take a sip of water between each bite. My boyfriend ordered steak tips that were overcooked and had zero flavor to them. Don't bother for dinner.

Waterfront has significantly improved their service offering. Went here for lunch last weekend and was really impressed that they seemed to have hired experienced staff that knew what they were doing, and really brought it during a busy afternoon football game. Like night and day; My wife has gone twice before this outing and said the service had gotten better..the food has always been very good so glad to see they've picked it up. I'll be back again now...

I've been to the Waterfront a couple of times. It's been hit or miss. The upstairs atmosphere is usually lively, which is nice. The bar is nice with a great deck and view. Positives have been the stuffed quahog and the seafood bucatini. Not healthy at all, but tasty with a lot of seafood on the plate. Negatives: clam chowder served ice cold. This is ridiculous for obvious reasons. Also, a shrimp appetizer special (wrapped in prosciutto) that was so over cooked that it was nearly inedible.

I went here for my birthday and I loved it. The decor and location is great. Service was good. Food was delicious! I had the blackened Waterfront Salmon, holy moly! Apps were good too, we got calamari and coconut shrimp. Also a decent drink menu! Can't wait to go back in the summer, I'm sure it's bumpinnnn.

My family and I recently had a function here. The room downstairs was beautiful and clean. The staff was friendly, attentive and great with the kids. They even went above and beyond to take care of a guest with food allergies that were not relayed to us before hand. The meals were served piping hot. Our family raved about the party. The price was very reasonable. Not too many places will cut and serve your cake without a fee. Thank you!

We had a little surprise birthday party here for a family member. The manager was pretty helpful, however the servers were a bit lack luster. We had to bring dirty dishes to the bar so they weren't hanging out around the party scene. Most of them were just hanging out in the server station looking bored. The food was decent bar food, with a few up scale items you might not see at a regular bar. The wine selection wasn't too bad either. We ordered the Ahi Tuna (yummy), meatballs (OK), Pizza (OK), wing bites (yummy), and a big fresh salad (yummy). The bartenders seemed on top of things. We were in the upstairs bar area that also had a patio, facing the water - obviously ;) So the view was pretty nice!

Ate here today for lunch. My boyfriend and I both really enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere was great and the view was beautiful! We are outside on the upper level deck even though it was a but chilly outside!

Came to Plymouth to attend the AOPA Fly-in, after which we stopped at the Waterfront Grille for a late lunch/early dinner. They were very accomodating. We sat upstairs on the outside deck. It provided a perfect setting with nice air and a fantastic view of the harbor. Courtney served us and did an excellent job. Beverly had sparkling water and I had two refreshing Bombay gin and tonics. For lunch we both had blackened sea scallops on a caesar salad which was accompanied by some fresh rolls. Following lunch we stopped at Peaceful Meadows for ice cream. Then we took our chairs to the beautiful beach to see a rising super moon and fireworks display that was rescheduled from July 4th. I cannot think of a better way to spend a day such as this.

We were double booked for a function here, so not a fan. They were quick to cash our deposit when we made it and then months later called to tell us the news. They refunded the deposit, but there was no offer of retribution. We even were out the cost of invitations we had already printed up. I would've expected an offer of a free dinner or at least some assistance trying to find a replacement location.

We ate here for the first time this past weekend. The weather was gorgeous and we sat up on the top deck. It was a great view and the food was delicious. The only quam I have to say is that when my friend ordered her meal, they asked her what type of veggie she wanted (and they listed the kinds), she chose asparagus. Little did we know they charged a $2 upcharge of the asparagus without even letting us know. So beware of any upcharges!

This may be the worst service I have ever received. Our waiter seemed genuinely displeased to see us come in. The restaurant was relatively empty and my wife, her brother and I asked if we could sit at an empty table near the window. He said that it was a six top and that there were three of us. Thanks for the counting tip there bruh! Then we waited forrreevvvver to order drinks... then another eternity to put in for appetizers... and then, ta-da, Mr. Pleasant was nowhere to be seen. We left without paying. I have never done that. I have been in the service industry for over a decade and I would never and have never given or received such deplorable service. Manager, train your staff better please.

The salad with grilled eggplant was absolutely amazing. Probably the best salad I've ever had. The only thing keeping them from 5 stars was the sangria. Tasted like juice, wasn't worth the price. Friendly staff, very clean atmosphere. Nice during the summertime. I'll go again!

Night life is the best in Plymouth. Food is awesome. Best buff chx tenders in town. I would eat that for breakfast lunch and dinner. Every day. Service is the best. They always remember you.

Went here on Saturday after a horrible experience at the cabby shack across the street. Our waiter was very friendly. The food was great. Tried to swordfish steak! Or the lobster roll! Even though it was very crowded our waiter was very attentive and understanding of our horrible experience at the cabby shack.

  • Kelly F.

Worst. Came in after a wedding at Pinehills. It was a busy night, but we couldn't have gotten worse service. The bartender was miserable. Manager was respectful but was reluctant to acknowledge his disrespectful server. Overall...mediocre drinks and totally subpar service. Fine if you're 19 looking for a quick drink. Not a place I'd seek out...ever. Seriously...EVER.

During the summer, unbelievable bar atmosphere! The servers are always friendly, the food is great, and the portions are decent for the price you pay. Live entertainment is always a good thing too! The pizzas, which unfortunately didn't come until the end of the summer of 2010, were yummy and good for 1 or to share. Well done with the look of the place and the atmosphere, and I 100% recommend this place to anyone traveling in the area.

  • Scott O.

The food here is completely average, little to no flavor with slow service. No only did it take forever to get our meal, the fish and chips was raw and cold inside. I would go for drinks only, before we go to a different restaurant for dinner.

  • Mike P.

Occasional beer drinker here at the WaterFront but decided to try the food. You know that feeling you get like something just ain't right? Ordered the fish n chips and once I saw it approaching, I immediately knew my gut was right. I kind of want to cry its bad but live n' learn I guess. Atmosphere=good. Food=touristy so it doesn't need to be good.

The steak tips were overcooked, and the vegetable medly (which I ALWAYS suspect is frozen, from any place that offers it) was cold.

My husband and I hosted a Fourth of July party at the Waterfront Bar and Grill. The staff was wonderful and the food delicious! We had a buffet of Chicken Piccata: the chicken was tender and the sauce was just right, not bitter and they didn't skimp on the capers; Steak Tips: our guests are still commenting about how they were some of the best steak tips they've every eaten. They were tender, and grilled to perfection; Scrod: So fresh that tasted like it had just walked across the street from the ocean into the oven, along with seasonal veggies, which were cooked to perfection, and red bliss mashed, absolutely delicious and not too salty. I highly recommend the Waterfront Bar and Grill to anyone who is looking for a venue to host a party or just go have a good meal!!

We went here at 6p on a Friday night. I had made reservation at 11:30am and said it would be two adults and a toddler. When we arrived they said our table would be a high top table and the high chair for our toddler would be lower than the table. So we asked to sit outside so that we could actually eat with our child all on one level. Sitting outside was very nice and I highly recommend it. The drinks and appetizer came out super fast while our meal took much longer and was only luke warm. The food was good, but to not be hot is disappointing. Our waitress was nice enough but did not seem 'into' it. She also brought the check without asking if we wanted anything else. Do they not have dessert here? Not even sure as it wasn't offered or asked. Overall, it's a great location and it made for a lovely family dinner/evening out at the Plymouth waterfront but we will probably try somewhere else next time.

    (3)
  • Michael P.

Good fish and chips. Very good service. Nice outside seating. I loved the shipyard seasonal our waitress recommended. A lot of reviewers took offense to the filet minion / surf and turf. It's a bar, not a steakhouse. Order bar food here and you should have a great meal.

    (4)
  • Hazel S.

While the location is perfect, the new "lets screw the tourist" menu is not great, they have taken away many of the sandwich options making it a much more expensive night out, and as a local there are so many other options in and around Plymouth that taking this place off our list for dining out wont be a problem. Also the addition of live music on an early Sunday night upstairs in NOT enjoyable, it was way too loud to even enjoy my overpriced meal, there were several tables that picked up there menus and left to go down stairs....The Waterfront opened as a more affordable option to East Bay, the food is almost more expensive and not as good......

My friend and I ate at this restaurant last night and were completely unimpressed. Both of us, having been in the food and beverage business for many years were hoping for some great seafood. I had scallops over risotto with asparagus. The risotto could have been an excellent substitute for wallpaper paste, the asparagus was cold and the scallops ho-hum. My friend had what sounded like a delicious seafood medley in a sherry cream sauce. Turns out it was just a mushy mess and apparently they ran out of sherry! Just tasteless. The veggies were ice cold and the baked potato so crusted with salt it was inedible. The service wasn't a whole lot better as our server took 20 minutes to bring us our cold rolls with balls of ice butter. The manager did step up and removed the meal charges from our bill. Thank you Rob, but still won't ever go back! With all the many restaurant choices in the immediate area, do yourself a favor and skip this one!

This should have been a fun Saturday night. There were several bartenders working the bar so you never had to wait long for a drink. The prices were reasonable and the d.j. was playing some good dance music. The bar executed everything very well I want to make that clear. My beef with this place resides with the bar's clientele. It quickly became apparent that this is a "townie" bar, something I am not familiar with living in touristy Boston. Our very normal, albeit somewhat large group (5 girls and 3 guys) were getting stared down by so many groups of haters. Apparently they came to the bar to people watch and we were the main attraction. A couple times they were talking shit literally behind our back. Not to mention we got fart bomb three times. Yes fart bombed. As in dudes came up to our group, farted and then walked away. It was bad. To top off the night my girlfriend got groped by some dude. It's too bad because this bar does so much well. But we're clearly not wanted so I will do my part and won't come back.

I ate at Waterfront Bar & Grill with my three boys and my dad. We all thought that it was great. The food and the ambiance were one of the best in the area. We will definitely be back. Next time my mom and my wife will be with us. Thank you for the great food and customer service!!!!!

My daughter and I dined at the Waterfront Bar and Grill and were quite impress with the food, waitstaff, and great view. The appetizers were delicious (meatballs and mac & cheese), the meals (chicken salad and haddock) were well prepared and presented. Our waitress was there when needed and very pleasant. Our drinks were never empty. We got exactly what we were looking for...a quiet place for us to "catch up", good food and a nice first time there. We plan to return to try some of their other menu items.

Used a living social coupon and glad I bought it as the place is very nice, the service excellent and the food outstanding. The prices were reasonable. The place is directly across from the water front and the view from the second floor bar is gorgeous. I would definitely recommend the place . Yum yum

The seafood platter special was absolutely delicious! The white coconut sangria is the best sangria you will find in plymouth. They make it fresh every time it's ordered so you know it's not sitting in some bin. The clam chowder is very good as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone!

  • Maddy K.

We ate outside and it was great. The server was so sweet and very attentive. There was no wait at all for a table. We split the mac and cheese appetizer which was excellent. Usually I don't like restaurant bread rolls but these ones were really good! If I ever return to the Plymouth area I will definitely return.

The food was top notch. Our waitress was a bit overwhelmed, but very attentive. After our meal we moved to the bar. The bar staff however, was not as attentive. Pitiful service. That's with a manager bartending. I understand that the "A-Team" isn't working on a Sunday, but c'mon now. Good for tourists, maybe. If they like shitty service.

    (1)
  • Jonathan C.

The waitress assured me: "everyone loves the clam chowder!" OK, but personally I've had better. I am a huge swordfish fan and it happened to be the nightly special! Just average, I'm afraid. I thought they had a good selection of beer including Long Trail Double Bag. Tables were clean. The waitress was attentive and friendly. Cheaper than East Bay, but the latter has better food.

I attended the Work it Wednesday lunch networking event this week and had an excellent meal. My salmon salad was perfect. I've had lunch here many times actually with this networking group. They are always friendly and the food is good. The noise of the waitstaff can sometimes be distracting during lunch however as their work station is directly behind a half wall in the dining room. Dinner? I only have had one experience here for dinner and it was really not very good. Forgetful, un-knowledgeable waitress and food that had to be sent back 2 x. I'd stick with lunch.

Just a couple of under dressed Marylanders new to the area looking for a good meal...poking around New England. Couldn't pass up the the view of the fishing boats! Very accommodating staff... attentive and professional. On point for sure. Fish and chips were very tasty, not very crispy but good. Comparable to London's! Scrod probably, but that's still a mystery to us... apparently there's no such fish as 'SCROD' it's a baby cod or.. something else. We don't have whatever that is down south. I had the 'lobster' fajita's. Not much lobster there.... could have been more taste and less cheese. But I'm not complaining. Wasn't too pricey. I'd go back....sans the sneakers and t-shirt we were wearing. :)

Just went for the 1st time and have to say the atmosphere was very good and service was good but the food came out luke warm. All 3 of us had luke warm food and it was very disappointing seeing there is no reason not to be served a nice hot meal.....

I did not had the perfect table..but that is no ones fault. sat nite? i was lucky to get a table whit no wait at all.

I have been here to eat, and to go out. The food here is decent at best. Nothing outstanding. The same stuff you'd find at any Plymouth Restaurant. As a nightclub. This place is AWFUL. The dance floor is WAY too crowded and you have to pay a cover to literally dance in a closet. Not worth it. The bouncers and staff are also rude.

We had our wedding rehearsal here in September and we dealt with John. They were very accommodating to our needs. We had about 26 people attend and we had our own little area of the restaurant, not private but private enough. Our menu consisted of 4 entrees that we got to choose from a list, along with a soup and rolls and butter. I'm vegan and they were able to make our soup vegan and also have an entree for me and anyone else who wanted it. Everything was delicious and the wait staff were very attentive! I would have another function here if needed.

I ate here tonight and I ordered the Surf and Turf and my friend ordered the Filet Mignon. My friend was happy with his filet all around. The stuffed shrimp was very good in my surf and turf. The steak tasted good but it was incredibly tough. I had to use considerable force to stick the fork into it and althought I was using a saw toothed steak knife to cut it it was more like trying to cut it with a butter knife. The manager dropped by and asked how it was and I told him honestly. He offered to get me another one but I declined his offer. I do not blame the chef for my steak probems but the ought to consider a different vendor. Good taste but one of the toughest steaks of my lifetime. The waitress was sweet and trying her best but she was brand new and she made a few minor errors but she will be a good waitress once she has a little more training and experience. I give her an A for effort and a 20% tip to help her pay for college. Overall a good experience but get a new meat supplier!!

Went for the first time for dinner. Waited about 20 minutes just to get someone to get our drinks. Waitress was supposedly on her first night but I've heard that one before. Why is her first night on a saturday night downtown? Everyone in my party seemed to have wolfed down their food. Mussels were a bit sandy but halfway through my meal a supervisor asked about my food and refunded my meal. Will try again for dinner.

I need to add an addendum. After my review of the Waterfront Grill the owner contacted me via Facebook and was quite rude, unprofessional and insulting to people such as myself that rate the service industry. If you are interested in the interaction please message me and I will forward a copy of the exchange. I can't wait for the next dive to open up in that building....

After a long day of sailing, the need for fried fishes was extreme. There was a place we'd been to before (but couldn't remember what it was called,) that's now closed, so that was out. So began the walk to find somewhere to eat. After going through a few places, Waterfront Grille seemed safe enough. Our hostess was a little weird, but ONLY a little weird. Our server was really weird. It was almost like he was high. I don't think he actually was, though. The food was great. We ordered macaroni and cheese to split three ways as an appetizer, and it was delicious... they even crumbled bits of bread on top, which was a nice touch. For my actual meal, fried scrod and chips were the way I was destined to go. It definitely didn't disappoint... it wasn't terrific, mind-blowing, orgasmic food, but it was about what I was looking for. The price for such a meal was a little extreme in my book, but the cost of living in Pittsburgh is different from that of Massachusetts, and I was assured the price was pretty normal. So the food was not bad at all. Probably four-yelp-star food. However, our server was like a sloth on downers. I mean, he was SLOOOOOOWWWWWWW. It took us a crazy amount of time to get our check... and our food... and anything at all. That was a turn-off, and they weren't especially busy. All together, it was okay, but I wouldn't go back here in lieu of trying somewhere new, for sure.

Do not go to the Waterfront Bar after hours. Incredibly rude service. Zero ambiance. Overpriced drinks. My friends and I were greeted with hostility before we even walked into the place. The only words the bouncer checking IDs exchanged with us were "Ya can't go upstairs." before shoving our licenses back in our faces. I didn't even have time to finish my $4.50 bottle of lukewarm Bud Light. A little before 1:00 AM the manager waddled around the bar screaming "Finish up ya drinks! Bar's closing!" Soon after, he deployed his troupe of 6'5" flying monkeys to echo the same demand. The bouncers went table to table literally yelling at the patrons to hurry up and leave. I understand that they needed to clear the place out, but the staff did so very aggressively and with zero tact. All of the other bars in the immediate area had cheaper drinks and better service. Most also had live music. I really regretted stopping at the Waterfront Bar and Grill, and I'm sure you would, too.

We stopped by a gallery in nearby Duxbury looking for a casual place to get a drinks and a bite to eat. The gallery owner/artist in resident suggested the Waterfront Bar and Grill. Her artwork was actually really interesting. Her recommendation, however, was incredibly terrible. Upon walking in and sitting down, several red flags should have immediately caused us to get up and find a different place to dine. Most immediate was the fact that the entire restaurant and bar was decorated in artwork from the Duxbury gallery owner that gave us the recommendation. Second was the apparent lack of oysters from the menu - inexcusable considering that the entire region is known for their top-quality local shellfish. In retrospect we blame hunger for clouding what would have been a better exercise of judgment by leaving immediately. The clam chowder was good. The mussels were terrible. Dave's steak was overcooked, as was my swordfish. The waiter was friendly, but quite clueless. The mashed potatoes were also just okay, but all in all the entire experience did not justify the $100 tab.

SB and I were here at the tail end of the summer. The space has been nicely updated since it was the Crow's Nest a while ago. The upstairs, outdoor deck definitely trumps the views at East Bay (we'd like a window seat please, so we can see the parking lot out back!), and the food is pretty similar to what they have to offer across the street. I've never been much of an East Bay fan, because I feel like it's one of those tourist trap restaurants that gets a lot of press and publicity but doesn't really offer up anything special. The Waterfront doesn't really feel as fake as East Bay, but I can't say the food is any better. SB and I went with a couple of friends and we had: Baked Seafood, Steak Tip salad, Pork chops, Chicken Parmesan, and a red velvet cake. Again, the food was fine, it wasn't great, it wasn't terrible, it was just sort of there. For the price we paid, I think it should have been better. Our friends had the Pork chops and Chicken parm, both of which were ENORMOUS. Seriously, it was the most American sized portion I've ever seen. I really don't think they make em any bigger in Texas. Both of our friends ate maybe half of their dinner, and definitely had lunch left over for the next day. You could feed an entire family on two meals if you portioned it out appropriately. I have to put this separate, because it's about the cake. The cake was magnificent. Seriously, sitting here now at almost 9pm, more than a month later, my mouth is watering because I want it so badly. If you go with another person, do yourself a favor... split an entree, and order the red velvet cake. It's huge, and so worth it. All in all, not a bad joint, but not great. It's A-ok in my book, and I'll go here in the summer and early fall for the view, but not for the food, particularly.

Have been here a few times - this particular experience was OK - had the grilled samon it was fresh and cooked well. Veggies and baked potato were good as well. The only major draw back - it took us better than a 1/2 an hour to get our meal and the place was not even busy. It was a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago. The sun was shining so we were out on the deck enjoying the drinks and the weather.. the waitress even came over and said "I can't believe you don't have your food yet." We obviously agreed. Wouldn't rush back. Would recommend the upper bar for appetizers and a few drinks - seems to have a good vibe.

I've been a number of time busy or not the service is incredibly slow. I think they do that purposely so you'll drink more. Food is mediocre at best. They don't know how to cook anything medium. Far better places in Plymouth.

New outside bar very nice to sit at. Seems like they did not think very long about the position of bar as facing wrong way but still a nice place to sit outsideI

This is one of my favorite places on the south shore! I started coming here when it first opened and continue to come back even now that I live 40 minutes away. The food is great and there is something for every taste. Great atomosphere all around. The bar staff is amazing-- I enjoying eating dinner at the bar, especially when there's a sporting event I want to watch and this is by far the best bar service I've ever seen. Countless times I have walked in and struggled to get two seats together-- just single seats here and there but they are great to try to move people together to accomodate you. They've also been very polite to change the tv station on the tv in front of me if there's a certain game I want to watch. Tony C. is the most personable bartender around. You'll always see the manager John walking around and saying hello to guests. I definitely recommend stopping in if you're visiting plmyouth!

My boyfriend and I were in the area and randomly picked this place. Looked nice from the outside, the inside is clean. My boyfriend ordered the salmon, said it was a little burnt; his potatoes looked and tasted (to me) like they were from a box. My boyfriend didn't mind. I ordered the "jumbo" stuffed shrimp, the stuffing was OK, the shrimps were not jumbo. Our server was friendly. The place seemed like a place where people go to drink, not to eat. Overall, just three stars, but I wouldn't go back.

This place was pretty packed but advertised a DJ which they had but it was pretty terrible and there was no room to dance definitely a negative in my book. They had shipyard on tap which was great. The mix of people in there was so strange. People obviously started early at this place as we got there around 9ish and the people in there were trashed. There reallly isn't a whole lot of nightlife in Plymouth..... :(

We really enjoyed our meal here. I had the surf and turf, my husband had the blackened salmon and our kids shared the chicken fingers and hot dog. The clam chowder wasn't very good, but no place in Plymouth can compete with Cabbyshack and their award winning version. Other than that, all of the food was properly cooked and delicious. The service and waitstaff leave something to be desired and for that we knocked it down a star or two. I would eat here again.

had a wedding rehearsal dinner here on a thursday night in july and we could not have had a better experience. we are locals and have been to many of the places in plymouth ( from upscale to dive bars) but we are very happy with our choice of the waterfront. first the managers could not have been more helpful with the planning of the dinner. the functions are held downstairs in the dining room with a small indoor bar and access to the outdoor bar. for functions you pay for a bartender for the indoor bar. all in all it is a great set-up. the food was set up buffet style and everything was delicious and piping hot. the bartender and waiter and waitresses we had were top notch. would not hesitate to have another function here.

It's a real shame, for such a great location and renovation, the food is not impressive at all. I was here last night with my husband and a friend. We were seated in a very tight first floor dining area, so tight that as we followed the waiter to be seated, we had to backtrack and find a new way in to our table. We were seated and our waiter was really great and had a lot of personality. He was very attentive to our drinks and anything else we needed. The food.......apps: Waterfront cheese fries sprinkled with some sort of cajun spice and accompanied with a cheese dip, they were ok. We also had a spinach artichoke dip that had no flavor to it...I've had better at a chain restaurant. Next.....the entrees, my husband loves bar pizza, so that's what he ordered, seemed a little undercooked, and the sauce had no flavor, we will head to Cabby's next time. My meal was a 'special', salmon florentine. YUCK. The salmon seemed like it was frozen, not fresh, and the spinach artichoke dip was smeared on the top of it! This of course was priced way too high at $22!!! Our friend had a 'special' as well, peppercorn encrusted sirloin, which was dry, had a side of dry mashed potatoes (with no real flavor, I tried them) and was also $22... We ordered dessert, baileys irish cream cheese cake, which I am guessing is not made there, it was pretty good. All in all, being locals and on the waterfront all summer, we will not be back for a meal, maybe drinks in the summer, but no food. Not worth the $130.00 bill.....pretty disappointing.

OK here it is the food is really bad! I'm sorry to say it but it's true. We've been a couple times since the last review and what is the quote "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results" It's location, location, location, great spot, lousy food. Last time we were there we order lobster eggrolls - really no lobster and the eggrolls were dry, hard, after one bite we were done. Special - scallops wrapped in bacon - I thought they were ok ..hubbie thought they we undercooked. And stuffed clams - again not good. We have decided to remind each other DO NOT EAT HERE! have a drink and go elsewhere for dinner or come in for a night cap. But no more 2nd, 3rd, 4th chances we are done. I now know why every 2 years or so a new place pops up here.

New incarnation of the Crows Nest only much nicer and upscale. Great views of the harbor overlooking the East Bay Grille just across the street. Food is fresh, well presented and up to date. New American with all the traditional fare as well. Had lunch here today and the only gripe is that sandwiches come with chips and they make you pay for fries which I think is pretty chintzy considering everyplace else throws them in for a $10 burger.

I had gone here back in December for a work Christmas party. I really enjoyed the food and location so when a living social deal came up I bought one. I went back there today for lunch and unfortunately did not have such a pleasent experience. The food was good and the server was pleasent though the food was a little slow coming out. At the end of the meal I presented the living social voucher on my phone (as it stated right on the voucher I could do). The server went to get the manager who informed me that I could not use the voucher unless I could show him that I could delete it after which was fine with me, however he was very rude about this. I have never had to do this anywhere I have used a voucher before. Apparently I was taking to long to figure out how to delete the voucher so he walked away. I went to find him once I figured it out and he said in a very condescending tone "ohhhh good for you, you did it!". Very rude. Also, a drink had been spilled and no one came to pick it up the entire time I was there, including pieces of broken glass. They also continued to seat people at the table without cleaning it. Overall, decent food but slow service and rude management. I was pretty disappointed.

My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch yesterday, a Sunday afternoon in early May. It was around 3:30, after the lunch crowd and before the dinner rush, and the beginning of May is before the busy tourist season in Plymouth, so we were expecting a fairly quick meal (for a sit-down establishment). It could have been a relatively quick meal, too, had we not had to wait so long for a host/manager/anyone to acknowledge and seat us, and again for a waitress to come over. We waited for a solid four or five minutes (which is a long time to stand at the host stand without being greeted) before a host appeared and sat us, without so much as a "sorry to keep you waiting" or anything to that effect. We were seated downstairs near two other parties of people, and otherwise the downstairs level was empty (they had entertainment upstairs so there were probably more people up there). Once we were seated, we waited at least another five minutes (it may have been closer to seven or eight minutes) before a waitress came to greet us and take our drink order. In the meantime, the man who had seated us was in eye-view the entire time, chatting with three men at the small nearby bar-type set-up (no bartender behind it, but they were sitting at it drinking), but he never went to fetch our waitress for us or let her know that he had seated someone in her section. Once she was present, she was VERY sweet, however. And the food? It was just...okay. I had a steak and cheese sandwich that could have used another slice of cheese -- mostly just dry steak on a bun. The bread was good -- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My husband got a pizza, which was just okay as well -- a crispy bar pizza, which we both love, but not as good as Ernie's. We had a buffalo fingers appetizer which was probably the best part of the meal -- pretty spicy, which my husband loves, and if I have enough bleu cheese I'm fine with. :) Bottom line -- would I absolutely refuse to go back to Waterfront Bar and Grill if people wanted to go? Probably not. Would I recommend going to Waterfront if people wanted my opinion? Probably not. The waitress was friendly and sweet, but waiting for her and the host took a bit longer than it should, especially at a relatively quiet time of day; and the food was not terrible but not exceptional either. The location is great and I do hope they work on improving some things so that they can be a local success -- it's always nice to see local businesses succeed.

We were very hesitant to try a new place after our disastrous dinner a couple of evenings before at Crazy Eddies which is across street from Waterfront. Our experience was pleasant. We went after work on a beautiful day with our 9 and 12 year old children. We had drinks and they had dinner. The server was awesome. Very attentive an the renovation is great (especially as compared to the dives that were there in the prior 15 years). My sons pasta with butter was not so good - how difficult is this? My calamari was good but should have been more on the plate. My daughter had the chowder which was good but too thick. Not sure why folks keel using cornstarch in chowder when there are so many better ways to make chowder. The menu was good an other people's food looked appetizing. The runner tried to bring us someone elses food....just wasn't paying attention. I would go back to try a full dinner but it does seem they have some consistency work to do. They should take some lessons from East Bay Grille right across street. It too used to be a bit out of date and has done a great job of good serving and consistently good food.

I've been here maybe a dozen times and have had mostly very good experiences. Only one time would I characterize the dinner as average or bland, the other 11 were very good. The one complaint I do have is with the entertainment, it becomes too loud to hear yourself or your friends on Thursday nights in the offseason. Although I'm sure the type of music they play has a place I think it's more in line with a 50 year wedding anniversary than a bar on the water in Plymouth.

Went on a Friday night around 7pm. Thought we'd be able to get in because the place was new and the old tenants did not have a great reputation. I was right -- we were seated right away -- but I was pleasantly surprised at how busy it is. As a local business owner myself, I am always happy to see a new business doing well. And, let me tell you, the place looks amazing! The last restaurant in this space was just so sad... Huge improvement. My party of five was seated upstairs in the bar area right inside the sliding doors to the deck. It was a really noisy place to be since there was a musician playing on the deck. It didn't bother me any, but my 88-year-old grandmother wasn't too pleased. I wasn't thrilled with the menu -- a little too basic for my tastes -- but the pork chop with parmesan mashed potatoes was fantastic. I was also happy with the selection of beers on tap. Three people at my table got the lobster roll and all were happy. My sister cobbled together a meal from two appetizers: the mussels and the Waterfront fries. The mussels were great, but she was puzzled about the Waterfront fries. The were nothing special, so why exactly were they given special-name status on the menu? The just plain fries with the lobster roll were better. And, the weird cheesy sauce that came with the Wtft fries? Just weird nasty. Other than that, though, thumbs up. I'll definitely go back.
