Boyfriend and I went there last weekend, and it was...okay. Thankfully the wait wasn't long, and we were served pretty quickly. I got fried eggs, the house-made Hungarian sausages, and home fries. First off, the house sausage is really good. It's spicy and they know how to cook it. The rest of it though...Eh. The home fries were really small and a lot of them were burnt, and my eggs were really weird: it seemed like they cooked it for a few seconds on one side, then flipped it for another few seconds, then served it, resulting in a weird uncooked layer sandwiched between the cooked top and bottom. I'm no stranger to scraping away a little uncooked eggwhite-goo, but this was kinda gross. Also, their tea tastes...really bad. I don't know if it's the water or what, but I couldn't even finish mine. I also got one of their Nutella shakes, because I'm an adult and can have a milkshake with breakfast if I want to, okay mom? It started off just tasting like a chocolate shake, but toward the bottom it started actually tasting like Nutella and ended pretty well. The girls behind the counter were very friendly and prompt, and I love that they had ghost pepper sauce available (I didn't feel like starting my day off like that, but I'm pleased I had the option), but the hot sauce they had on the counter (I think it was Louisiana-style house sauce?), while spicy, tasted kinda funky. One last thing: Their stools are SO FREAKING UNCOMFORTABLE. They seriously bite into the back of your thighs. Boyfriend and I both wolfed down our food just so we could get up as soon as possible, and walking afterward was downright blissful. Edit: I forgot about the Hershey Kiss they give you with the bill, I thought that was pretty cute, and a nice touch.

TLDD has the cutest little caboose. A real hidden jewel coincidentally positioned next to some train tracks. Address is 1 Railroad Ave. They spared nothing on getting the point across of being an old dining car and I love it! Breakfast sandwich with the added advice of getting the egg "runny" is right in my wheel house. They even let me sound the train whistle. I felt like a kid again. Food came out quick and with a side of yummy beans. Will definitely be back when in the area. No bathroom :(

What else is there to say that hasn't already been said? They close at 1p on Sundays, and we stopped in at 12:50. They welcomed us in with no indication that they were near closing. The food is really good, but what really makes it is the staff/owners. Friendly, chatting and really made the whole experience stellar. We'll definitely be back...soon!

This is THE breakfast place on the Northshore. The food and the service are outstanding. I had classic eggs bene, which I order in my travels around the country and rate it in the top 3. Don't forget...cash only.

It's a tight squeeze with only counter space for seating, but the coziness of the space adds to the experience. The waitstaff is congenial, and they make you feel like you have been eating there your entire life. The food will not disappoint and is out quickly. The homemade Hungarian sausage is a must try. Bring cash.

Great place, very friendly staff, charming locale, and good food - what's not to like. We had the breakfast sandwich of homemeade Hungarian sausage with an egg and cheese. It was delicious. Good coffee and very friendly service from the waitresses, who seemed very caring and engaged. Blues music played was great - not blaringly loud, just enough to give the place more retro charm. It's a great find, and we now have to go back for the special butter - we missed it and still we give the place 4 stars! Charming.

We decided to go out for breakfast during a trip to the North Shore one overcast Sunday in November. Since it's been ages since we've had breakfast out, I turned to Yelp to help me. When we entered the diner, we were surprised to see that it's counter seating only (16 seater), and upon checking out the menu, cash only as well. Undeterred, and since the place was full anyway and we'd have to wait, we ventured out and found a Salem Five Bank right around the corner. Armed with cold, hard cash, we went back to wait for a seat. When we returned, seats had opened up. As an introvert, I don't love sitting elbow to elbow with strangers, but I'm willing to go outside my comfort zone in the name of good food. Besides, the place seems so homey and the waitstaff were so friendly, it was almost like we were regulars. In the end, I was OK with it. The breakfast menu is small, one page, but full of delightful things and is supplemented by a specials menu posted in the dining room. Pastrami Benedict (along with a few other variations)? An omelet with four cheeses (American, Cheddar, Feta, Swiss) called "The Goo?" Cinnamon Raisin French Toast? It all sounds great to me. The specials menu spoke of homemade Hungarian sausage and banana bread, which I hope will be there the next time I go (and there will be a next time). I had poached eggs on marble rye toast with sausage and home fries. The eggs were perfectly poached and large, the marble rye toast cut thick and absolutely perfect. The home fries tasted like they were made from fresh potatoes, not overly salted and sauteed with onions. Sometimes diner home fries have a day-old taste, but that wasn't the case here. The amount of food was just right and reasonably priced. Hubby had scrambled eggs with a slice of ham that he declared as all right, but wished it was a little thicker, but had no problem sowing it all down. Sadly, they were out of corned beef hash. The waitstaff were very attentive and helpful, friendly but not in-your-face. When you are presented with the bill they give you a little chocolate kiss, a very nice touch! Thanks Little Depot!

We love this diner. The girls who work the front are awesome. Get the pancakes with their special butter. You won't regret it. If you sit at the end of the counter you can pull the whistle! Everything we have had here is delicious.

After reading the reviews of the Little Depot Diner, I knew my friends and I had to head here for a fully-loaded hangover cure breakfast. When the reviews say the seating is "limited", it's like saying Antarctica might be chilly. This is a bona-fide diner car: maybe 10-12 seats mounted to the floor in front of a counter. And that's...it. However, what this place lacks in space it makes up for in food - the food really was delicious.. nothing that knocked you out of your seat but really, how would an onion-pepper-tomato-american omelette really do that? It's not jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring food, it's great breakfast classics done well and served with a smile. The reviews also inspired me to try fat heaven -- the caramel, cinnamon, syrup butter. Hooooolyyyy cow. This butter is not to be consumed lightly -- ask for your toast dry and a side of this heavenly spread on the side. I even ordered 2 more to-go cups of it to bring home and I've been spreading it on waffles and toast whenever I can (not helping my summer beach bod any...)! There's really not much else to say - you gotta try this place & see for yourself!

Meh, service was great, but all these A++ reviews are off, by a lot. Basic breakfast. Pancakes were alright. Peabody food sucks, anyway. Keep looking. I wouldn't go back.

Best meal of the trip so far! Ummm so good. Best blueberry pancake ever; no syrup needed. Eggs and salami were awesome. Western Omelet was delicious.

So went there today with the wife and kids. Place is small but nostalgic. The kids loved the train running overhead and the train "whistle" they could pull. The food was good. Tasty, good sized portions at good prices. Wait staff was GREAT! The girls were friendly even to the kids, were attentive to all of our needs, and made sure everyone was well taken care of. Plenty of on street parking. Two issues. One was close setting quarters. You are constantly bumping into the person next to you. And if you happen to get someone "larger than what the counter stool was designed for" it can be rather uncomfortable and awkward. Second was no kids menu. They know it and will be upfront about but they will work with you on ordering sides or whatnot. Maybe create a mini pancake plate or something. Aside from these things this place is great and I will certainly be returning.

First time coming with a friend who is addicted to the breakfast there! I ordered the special breakfast burrito and it was phenomenal! The 30 some odd selection of hot sauces to choose from was awesome! My friend ordered a western omelette and it was delightful! Alisha and Ross Great Job! The fresh ingredients made it that much more enjoyable! Well worth it!! Seriously hands down way BETTER than famous Reds in Salem! Great food! Flawless team dynamic! Just a pleasant experience all around! BRAVOO!

Very good breakfast. The other morning was our first time dining here again since its new owners took over a couple years ago. I really like the updates to the place, they have made the most of the space available without compromising the atmosphere. The new owners are young and their enthusiasm in their product is apparent. Will be back again.

Wow, what a little Gem, this is one of those reviews I totally have to thank Yelp for, how I didn't hear about this place before is beyond me. I read the reviews on this place and thought there is no way the food could be that good and I have never heard anyone mention it, I drive by this place all the time and would have never thought to stop in there. I'm so glad I did, the place is amazing. The food is out of this world, they make the best pancakes I have ever had, you can have it with their special butter, cinnamon and apple flavored, their home fries are possibly the best I've ever had, they use the red potatoes, the train wreck comes with hash and these amazing beans that remind me of my mothers growing up. The staff are super friendly, and actually seem like they appreciate you are there, so many places make you feel uncomfortable, this place isn't one of them. The only draw back is that they don't have more seating, the food is that good, I imagine they could fill up the Boston Garden on weekend mornings. If you live in the area and have never eaten here, DO IT!!! You will thank me later, or Yelp!!

Coffee? Meh. Typical diner. The rest just sings. I've been in five or six times now. By the second trip I was greeted by name. Strictly breakfast and lunch. Breakfast only on the weekends. One of the better bacon cheeseburgers you'll eat. The best you'll get for $7.95, complete with homefries or baked beans. Go with the homefries. Breakfast-wise, I've tried pancakes. Yum. Omelettes, yum, and a shaved steak benedict, and their eggs on hash. The yummiest. Homefries are simple, but seasoned, and just well-done enough that you don't have to order them that way. Service is with a smile. A true throwback. Note: no plastic, and no bathroom. Hit the ATM and the head before you show up.

I with no questions asked, give it 5 stars, and i would give it 1000 if I could!! Perfect breakfast, ZERO complaints!! From the cute little diner itself, to the amazingly friendly owners and regulars to the absolutely delicious food. I got the french toast, with the special butter (idk what is in this, aside from my guess of brown sugar but it is SOOO good!!!!) & a side of bacon. Perfectly delicious all the way around. He had ordered the blueberry pancakes, which were HUGE and delicious. We both instantly fell in love, and will soon be regulars! From my review to everyone elses, this place is a MUST TRY!! It is cash only, no public restrooms, small inside, with bar seating, all which would normally get under my skin but I sorta loved it, here :)

Near where I work and with good recommendations on Yelp. Had a pastrami melt with swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms. It was great. The service was very attentive and friendly - a big, big plus! Nice atmosphere, too. I'd prefer cole slaw made without mayonnaise and with some shredded carrot, but theirs is quite acceptable. If I had a smaller butt I'd give it five stars, but the stools are a little smaller than ideal for me. Say four and a half stars. Actually, I'm hesitant to post this review for fear the diner will be full when I return - but they deserve to do well, so I'm selflessly lavishing praise.

When I go out to breakfast the most important thing to me is how good the food is, well they hit that one out of the park! Not only do they have your typical breakfast fare they offer some items for the adventurous (Homemade Hungarian Sausage). First impressions: Charming, clean, very welcoming. Service: I felt like a regular my first visit. You wont see the bottom of your coffee cup, everything is served promptly. Comfort: Nostalgia has its price :). It's tight but that's part of the charm that makes me run back. Prices: While not the cheapest nothing comes out of a can here. Everything is fresh and the quality show's. I would still say the prices are gentle on the wallet. Things you should know: No bathroom. Its a 1929 lunch car with 13 seats so get over it if it bothers you. Cash only. I couldn't recomend this place any higher for breakfast. Take a step back in time, enjoy a great breakfast served fast and friendly. Enjoy!

Hands down best breakfast sandwich ever. Bacon is always crispy and home fries are amazing. Their homemade hungarian sausage adds a delicious twist to any meal. The service is friendly, fun and you always feel welcome. Definitely a must stop for breakfast!!!!

Absolutely love this place. My husband and I have been in several times for breakfast, and have always been happy. I love their french toast with "special butter", and my husband has tried several of their breakfast plates and loves each one. I could honestly eat that "special butter" on anything it's amazing. The young couple who just bought it like last November, are adorable and so friendly. We love coffee and they always have super fresh coffee, and they make sure to keep your cup full. Cute little place with wonderful staff and food.

I'm so happy to have been so lucky to stumble upon this place when they were opened! This the smallest place I've ever been to. This might as well have been a New York City 1 bedroom/bathroom studio apartment. However, given the size of the lunchbox, these people serve you with their best breakfast talents and their beautiful, gracious hearts. Inside, you will hear every couple of minutes a steamed toy engine and pictures of lots of famous and happy faces. Namely, you will recognize the spiky haired, Guy Fieri. The wait may be intimidating, but it's only in scale to the 12' x 6' restaurant. This was well worth the wait for perfectly made breakfast food. They even offer my favorite Dr. Suess' book, the infamous Green Eggs and Ham. I'm saddened by the fact that they are only opened twice a week, and only a couple of hours of those two days. I assure you, it is worth your while to have such a delightful experience here, nearby the grassy tracks in Peabody.

After driving by this place so many times over the years I finally had a chance to check it out. Walking into the single room with nothing but bar seating, you are immediately thrown back into the 1950's. There is a model train running along the perimeter and the owners have an obsessive fascination with Moxie. Anytime someone orders pancakes, the cook screams "ALLLL ABOARRRRD" and pulls a blaring train whistle just in case you did not hear him the first time. Get the pancakes for this reason, but also because they are damn delicious. The waitress was a doll and will not hesitate to ask people to slide down to the next bar stool if a larger party comes in and there are not enough open adjacent seats. Prepare to get cozy and make new friends. Apparently this place was on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives", hosted by everyone's favorite loser, Guy Fieri. I have not seen the episode, and never plan to, because whatever he has to say about The Little Depot will likely ruin it for me.

Discovered this while watching a "Diners, Dive-Ins, and Dives" episode that featured it. I have gone here a few times since, where I usually get pancakes. The portions are generous and their special cinnamon maple butter is delicious with it. It's very small inside where everyone sits next to each other at the counter. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is filled with warmth and fun. Tips: cash only and not many seats inside(i.e. don't bring too large of a group).

I was in Peabody one morning, really hungry, unfamiliar with the area, and then I saw this place with a sign out front advertising $5 coffee and breakfast sandwich. I went in pretty much on a whim, and I'm so glad I did. Not only was the food amazing, the service was completely standout. This place has the perfect small-town diner food, waitresses, and atmosphere in general. If I'm ever in Peabody again I'll definitely go back.

Wonderful experience at the Little Depot Diner. I've driven by it a thousand times and finally one Saturday we stopped in. Small counter/stool set up, a true diner feel. Wiat has never been longer than 15 minutes even on a busy Saturday morning. The service is so friendly, truly customer service driven and not phony. The food is EXCELLENT. Not diner greasy, but diner tasty and generous. Owned by a young couple, he cooks, she waits on you and what a team they are! They go above and beyond. Best part, we went two weekends in a row, they remember your name, who doesn't love that?? I want them to succeed, they are great people, and their product is excellent, a rarity in this day and age. Go visit.

Probably the best breakfast Ive had in New England Reasons why: The food was great, and their "special butter" is the best butter I've ever tasted. Goes great on pancakes. Pretty much goes well with anything! I think its made up of butter (of course) cinnamon, maybe maple syrup and brown sugar, and apples! Sorta has an apple pie taste. Service: Great service!!!! Seem to love to start a nice chat with a customer. Like to ask what's going on and stuff. They haven't gotten a single order wrong! Always check to see if everything is OK. Environment: Great, orderly, and clean place! Everything is in order. Very clean. They even have a little model train chugging along the ceiling! Even have a train whistle! So if you bring your kids (I'm a kid myself), have the kids ask if they can blow the whistle. The only bad thing is that there is not much seating. And there is also no bathroom (that I know of). I greatly recommend stopping by for breakfast if you don't have any food lying around the house or if you're visiting Boston. When you just happen to pass by Peabody MA, stop by! :)

Great atmosphere and service. Personable and good food. Great place to grab a bite and hang a while. Good hot sauce selection and the owners try to make you feel at home. I recommend you try it!

I was going to take away a star for no credit cards, no public bathrooms, but I still have to give The Little Depot Diner 5 stars. Quaint diner atmosphere, excellent diner food. The waitress asked some regular patrons to do the "diner shuffle", that is move down a seat to make room for two. Ditto to everything already mentioned. I don't think anyone commented on the take-out window and picnic benches, although you really need to eat inside to appreciate the ambiance. Try the grilled banana bread with some "special butter". Yum!

This place is so cute and delicious! Great specials each day-- my boyfriend got the steak and cheese omelette which was on special and it was awesome. I had the sour cream and onion hash and a banana pancake with the special cinnamon/maple butter-- breakfast perfection. We had to wait about 15-20 mins at 10:30 on a Saturday morning but it was SO worth it! The service is awesome too, very attentive and very friendly. Highly recommend this little diner!

We stopped at this gem today, and were treated to a terrific breakfast! The new owners have retained the charm. The place was immaculate, the service was terrific and the food was just about the best breakfasts we have had in a long time. From, fluffy pancakes to eggs Benedict, to scrambled with bacon. Everyone was pleased with our meals. The new owners are a young couple who really know what they're doing! They're sure to do well with this. This is going to be a great addition to Peabody's breakfast and lunch scene!

At the local SCUBA club, we have "Dive Talk." Anyone who went diving in the previous week stands up and says, "Yeah, I went out to Back Beach and found a lot of lobstahs" or "We hit Lane's, the temp was 50, and the viz was 20 feet," or something like that. But one guy would always say something like "We got in the boat, and went out in the ocean. Where? Oh... out there (waves hand) Near that other spot I mentioned. (Grin) (Pause) It was freakin' GREAT!" Yup... a secret spot... so good he wouldn't tell anyone where it was because he wanted to keep it just for himself and his buddies. So, anyways, I got in the car with my girlfriend last week, and we drove out to this diner. Out there, near that Chinese place I told you about a while back. (pause) (grin) It was freakin' great.

The service was great. Limited seating with only about 14 stools to sit on. They have a toy train that goes around the ceiling. The waitress turned it on for my son who enjoyed it immensely. Everyone was very friendly. Not for the types that don't like sitting and talking with the locals. The food was amazing. They have a special butter that has maple syrup, cinnamon, and brown sugar in it that I am going to dream about. They made a special train shaped pancake for my 4 yr old son who thought that was the coolest thing ever. The whole experience was spectacular and if we are ever in the area we will definitely stop by again.

Went here this morning for the first time. Breakfast was decent, filling, lots of food for what you paid for and coffee was really good. Staff is friendly and attentive and seem to know the regulars for sure. I got the train wreck which was decent. Two eggs any way you wanted them with beans, hash and home fries. The home fries were blan but otherwise everything was great. I think for the same food it would have maybe been about a dollar less at some place like reds or taste of thyme but overall decent. Would go back for sure.

This is what they mean by the term "Hidden Jewel" Tiny little boxcar Diner in Peabody center. Seats around 20 at a time(maybe less) all on bar stools at the counter. It's a very intimate setting. The owner is amazingly nice and the service is excellent. All the food is fresh and made to order. He makes the best baked beans I've ever had from scratch and corned beef hash. all kinds of specials and the Cinnamon, Carmel butter is WOW with pancakes. (so good) You wait in the little foyer with the others drinking free coffee and chatting with each other and the owner. This place is worth driving to for breakfast OR Lunch. Definitely going back. Awesome little Diner. Go Go Go.

Not just a great breakfast, but an over-all fantastic experience. Owner husband and wife team are so friendly and the place is incredibly clean. They make their own special carmel maple butter for pancakes. It is mouth-watering - oh and the pancakes are huge. Eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked, hash browns were crispy, and they even offered fresh bananna bread and muffins (made by the owner's mom). Its tiny, and there is only counter seating (no booths or tables), so you may have to wait for a seat. But it is worth it! I would have given it a full five stars but there is NO bathroom, which did pose a bit of a problem. Just keep this in mind.

What a gem of a place this is!! I pointed my Harley north Sunday morning hoping for a good meal at The Little Depot Diner. I got that and then some. This diner is cute, very small and is in excellent condition inside and out.I gotta tell you that the people who own and run this are some of the nicest people on the planet! Jen(her Mom owns the place) was working the counter and has an infectious smile. She is just a really happy and nice person to talk to.They welcome you here with a warm smile and are genuinely happy you came in. Jen shared a little story with me. She is a three time kidney transplant survivor.Wow! She told me that after seeing my small array of meds near my plate and showed me what she takes in order to keep her alive... The menu offers a nice variety of breakfast selections. If you order certain items, the train will run around the entire perimeter of the diner, complete with a whistle before starting its journey.I ordered "train wreck" and off it went.Kinda cool.My meal was cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic. The service was quick and outstanding.Be forewarned that there are no restrooms here, but fear not,Dunkin's is right across the street. The Little Depot Diner is really more than just a cute diner that serves good food. It's much, much more...

This place is so small it's awesome. Definitely worth it if you ever have to wait for a seat (although I've never had any trouble getting one). The people here are really friendly and the prices are just right. They even have a little train set that goes around the ceiling. It's just a nice little place to go and chat with your friendly locals. Try the pancakes with the "special butter"!

Very CLEAN fun diner, I had the banana bread French Toast (YUM). I had a chance to meet pretty much the whole family of this owner operated diner. Very friendly and they took great care of our party of seven this past Saturday after our daughters AAU B Ball tournament. Owning a diner myself I am often inspired by places like this. I will be serving Banana Bread French Toast very soon.

This place is totally charming. The kind of place if you're a regular, they know your name. It's tiny, probably about 12 bar stools but the service and ambience is just perfect. Food was great, doesn't break the bank either. You gotta try Mama Rose's banana bread! Just a great spot.

Great place...small but efficient and friendly. This is actually an old Worcester Lunch car built in 1929 there are only about 40 left , so it is good to see this one operational and renovated, Thanks! This is a wonderful place. I went there with my Mother in law for lunch. She had the fish chowder and it was very good. I had the hot dog plate and it was superb. The buns were grilled and the onions chopped to perfection. I hope to go back soon for breakfast! My wife ( a harder critic than I) went there shortly after, again with my Mother in Law and she liked it! Go enjoy ,and then go again! I will!

Came here with some great company before our Apple picking. The place is small, but comfy. The food menu is basic but it does the trick. 5*'s because of the staff. They are really friendly and they really made the experience that much better. Check it out if you're in the area and you want to try something new!

I had been hearing from a few people that the diner had new owners and this made me curious. I have been going to the diner since I was a kid when my family would go to church at St. John's. I haven't been in a while (maybe 6 or so years) and my last memory was that it was good, a little greasy, and maybe not-so-clean. When I walked into the diner I instantly thought, 'wow this is totally new' and didn't even feel like I was in the old diner. I was immediately greeted with a smile and a genuine hello from Alicia (one of the owners). The place is BRIGHT, CLEAN, AND WELCOMING (and I haven't got to the food yet). Coming from someone who works in Public Health telling you the place is clean, means a lot! Alicia, her husband and the other gentleman were very very kind and held conversations with myself and others that made me feel so welcomed. I did not feel odd at all coming there and eating there alone because of how welcoming it was. The train that goes around is just awesome and the staff are just too funny tooting the horn as you leave. OKAY, OKAY enough about how wonderful the place and people are....the food was DELICIOUS and NOT GREASY WHAT-SO-EVER. I had an egg white omelet with Kielbasa, spinach and cheese and a side of corned beef hash. My coffee was great as well, and it was always being refilled! The food hit the spot and left no grumbly, "maybe I shouldn't have eaten that" feeling. Just fantastic! Congratulations to the lovely owners, husband and wife, you are a great team and I will be back!

The Depot Diner was a big disappointment. My wife and I decided to try it after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp. Yeah, it was cute and cozy and the people who work there were attentive and friendly, but the food was pretty uninteresting, and I'd much rather sit in a comfy booth than be jammed up against a counter and rubbing elbows with the local color. My breakfast was The Train Wreck, which was eggs on top of hash and home fries. It was nothing special, but the home fries had that "old" taste, like they'd been sitting on the griddle since the place opened. And my breakfast came with baked beans, which looked (and tasted) like they were left over from the Korean War. They were thin and runny and bland. Yeesh. My wife had French toast, which was made from ordinary white bread. Nothing very interesting. Yes, it had the "famous" maple butter. Big deal. Oh, and here's the thing that REALLY annoyed me. Originally I had wanted a linguica and cheddar omelette, but they didn't have cheddar cheese. All they had was American and feta. Seriously!? What the %$^*# is up with these breakfast places that don't offer cheddar cheese? Is it really that exotic? Anyway, if you want a really mediocre meal at a cute diner owned by some nice people, give this place a try. If you want a good meal that you'll remember, try 2 Sisters in Gloucester.

Best pancakes I've ever had! The homemade butter they make is unbelievable.

The bad news: the LDD closed down last month, with the owners saying they had fulltime jobs outside and just couldn't handle running the diner anymore. It had become a bigger undertaking than they had ever anticipated, after they'd been seduced by the romance of diners, into opening it. The good news: they have recently re-opened FOR BREAKFAST ONLY, ON WEEKENDS ONLY. I guess their fans wouldn't let them go! :)

You like pancakes? These will knock your socks off! I can only manage the short stack but something makes them special. The diner makes their own special butter with caramel and some other things. Shhh...it's a secret! I don't even use syrup! Another thing I like is that the waitresses wear vintage server uniforms. Blue dresses with white collars. I feel like I'm living in the 50's! Hamburgers are great especially with a side of their homemade baked beans...mmmm! Sit on the swing outside after to digest. Good times!

Great place. We were in Peabody for a wedding ad wanted to grab breakfast before the trip home. Turned to Yelp for advice. Small and cozy. The waitress was exceptional; food excellent; and the train running around the perimeter of the ceiling was an extra bonus. Even the other customers were a pleasure.

The best place for breakfast in the Peabody-Danvers-Salem area by far. It's super small with 14 stools so get there early. The people are friendly and the service is fantastic. Try the pancakes with their special butter it's out of this world. Also there baked beans are more than likely the best I have ever had. One of my favorite spots in the area.

I have driven by this place thousands of times but just never thought to stop. So had we did because we found a hidden breakfast jewel aboard a train! They even have a train that goes around the entire boxcar and great 50's music. It's like stepping into a dream.....All aboard!!! Choo! Choo! Next stop....French Toast with the best homemade special maple cinnamon butter I've ever had! Coffee was fresh and great tasting and piping hot. My gf had an egg white omlet which she thoroughly enjoyed. The service was prompt, attentive, and never let my coffee go empty. This place is one stop you definitely want to make. I can't wait to go back!

I am sitting at the breakfast bar now. Totally filled with with just one family of five and several great working class guys. Very positive spirited, light atmosphere. Waitress is chatty and her smile and laugh are infectious. I ordered a custom breakfast sandwich, which was gladly made. Linguica, egg and cheese - very good. Came with an orange slice. Prices are also good. The guys next to me had BBQ spare ribs and eggs and strawberry waffles - huge meal which They said was awesome. Best diner of it's type I have been to.

I am so glad I finally decided to check this place out. It really is one of a kind. If you blink, you might just miss it along with its delicious omelettes, fresh coffee, friendly staff members, and positive atmosphere. I left with a smile on my face and tons of food in my belly.

The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because I wish it was just slightly bigger, but of course it really can't be. I just wish I could go with 3 or 4 people but that can be hard to seat. Awesomest experience. Little boxcar. Toy train set. Old fashioned 'diner uniforms.' Happy, singing waitress. Cute waiter. I'm a banana pancake who$e, and they made me some banana foster pancake creation that I still dream about. Great experience!

Had breakfast here this morning. I had been about 4 months ago after seeing it on the food network. I have driven by this place literally thousands of times and never thought about it. The first time I went it was ok nothing really memorable. But today was outstanding. We had to wait a bit but nothing extreme. The owner (I assume) was very friendly and happy which made for a nice experience in such close quarters. The waitress was nice but busy. The food our usually 2 over easy, bacon, english, homefries was excellent! My husband got a side of chocolate chip pancakes and the maple caramel butter which was fantastic. The whole meal and experience was defintely worth it. I think I am going to become a regular. The only minor thing was the coffee was just okay, but it really didn't matter because the food was so delicious! Would go back over and over again.

If you come to Peabody, this is the place you should visit. I have passed by it many times but never bothered to go in, even though I wanted to. Earlier this year, though, when my youngest was out of school because of a doctor's appointment, I decided we should stop by. My first impression was it was absolutely adorable! It is as small on the inside as it looks on the outside (I think the whole restaurant seats about 13 people). My daughter and I were greeted very warmly as we sat down, and we were waited on right away. We both ordered breakfast. I believe I got eggs, sausage & toast w/coffee and my daughter got a pancake (which they put a happy face on just for her) and a glass of milk. The food wasn't gourmet, but it was pretty good. The waitress was super nice to us, and gave us free refills on our drinks. They have a little train that runs around the diner and they turned it on just for her. Breakfast for both of us was very reasonable, about eight dollars, and we both enjoyed our food. I'm so glad to hear they opened it up again, even if only for the weekend. I definitely hope to stop in again sometime.

When a new little breakfast spot opened in my own hometown...I figured I should give a whirl!! And the survey is in and I LOOOVE IT! I love it soo much that if bacon wouldn't cause me to be a candidate for an angioplasty, I would eat there everyday. The fact that it is a tiny train car makes it cozy. The menu has the basics, eggs, pancakes, french toast... but the hidden gem is the flavored butter. They have maple, cinnamon and a few other flavors that I can't remember. Another surprise is if you order the ALL Aboard( which is something like 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, 2 pancakes) a tiny train circles the diner. The staff is very friendly..No singing though just good conversation. I went on a weekday so no lines and the food was out very quickly. So glad that the Little Depot Diner had to stop in Peabody!

The little Depot Diner has the most charming atmosphere the I have ever come across! The TINY train car only has a counter with 13 seats (so be prepaired to wait a short while if you are a party of more than 3),and the most wonderful family staff I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The staff is dressed in 50's 'ish diner uniforms complete with paper hats. The waitress (the daughter of the owners) was FANTASTIC!! She sang along with the period music and was the most cheerful waitress ever. The small menu is typical diner fair but it was all done to perfection! They have an AMAZING cinnamon, caramel butter to go on the pancakes that I could have eaten with a spoon! My one year old loved the toy train that goes around a track on the inside of the building, they even let him pull the whistle to make it go! We can't wait to return for MANY more Sunday breakfasts!!

Yes, it is little but good things come in small packages! The staff is very friendly, even if you're not a regular they will treat you like old friends. The food is even better than diner food, big servings and low prices. What makes this place 5 stars is the fun environment and great food.

A real treat for Train Lovers, Diner Lovers, Breakfast Lovers and yes just plain ole Lovers. Small and cozy best describes this renovated Worcester Car Diner. No tables fit so get ready for bar style dining but believe us its worth it. The diner is a throwback to the old days but the food is modern well prepared and well presented. Quite a varied menu still did not sway us from our usual eggs over easy, bacon, home fries and hash. Service...plenty of it and fast. The hot coffee was truely from a bottomless pot and was savory and fresh. Home fries..just ok..had better but have had lots worse...believe us. Most people would luv everything except the x-tra charge for coffee. To be fair this diner is small and they must make a buck wherever they can. Our advice...GO...put on your best train cap..Go and watch the toy train run around the ceiling as you enjoy..good food..good service and great atmosphere. Choo--Choo....The Breakfast Guys

The Little Depot Diner is my favorite place for breakfast. Most restaurants win my continued patronage solely on food alone but this little gem has won my loyalty by way of the restaurant trifecta. Food, atmosphere, and service. I'll touch base on all three. Atmosphere: The Little Depot Diner is located within an old dining car. There is no table seating, only counter seating. This adds to it's charm. The interior is decorated with vintage signs, such as a Ted Williams advertisement for Moxie. There is a model train that runs around the entire place just below the ceiling. Kids are always fascinated by this. There are also pictures of when Guy Fieri was there to feature The Little Depot on his show "Diners, Drive Ins, & Dives" The national TV spot alone should be enough to motivate you to visit. Food: I have tried just about everything on the menu and I have yet to be disappointed. I take breakfast pretty seriously as it is my favorite meal. That being said I am pretty hard to please especially when it comes to pancakes. Rest assured the pancakes at The Little Depot are some of, if not the best pancakes I have ever ate. They make their own "special" butter. Easy Cheech & Chong it's not that kind of "special." The butter is a blended maple cinnamon caramel butter. It just gives the pancakes that little something extra. Service: The staff is incredibly attentive and will bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. The owner is there on the weekends and he is a great guy. All in all I can't say enough good things about this place. If you want a fantastic breakfast with a side of nostalgia then I highly recommend that you give The Little Depot Diner a try!

I've been a regular visitor to Little Depot since moving to the North Shore a couple of years ago. What keeps me going back is the consistently good food, fresh ingredients, and excellent service. Also that they avoid the pitfalls of many other options--the place is spotlessly clean, they use local eggs and dairy, make their own sausage, etc. There are only two restaurants I recommend to people on a regular basis. This is one.

Great place, Collette the owner and her husband have a great place... Good food, great service and every one is happy to see you. Wanted to try this place after I saw it on DDD, and because it's different owners I can't compare between the two, but as far as this place goes it's awesome. Small, Diner stool seating and cash only... And a train that goes all way around ceiling for the lil ones. Nice job guys.

I went here for Breakfast, and left unimpressed. I was expecting much more from this place. Atmosphere was a rather unusual mixture of trains and blues music, and the blend is rather confusing. But, points for originality Location itself is tiny, I mean almost microscopic. There are only seats at the counter, no tables. Unless you are skinny, short, just have short legs you will be bumping elbows with the people to your side, and you will be bumping your knees against the counter. If you come in when it is full, wait time isn't too bad, but location for waiting is the size of an ultra luxurious port-a-potie. Service is polite, cheery and quick. Food... if the food was something spectacular, I would forget all about the crowded location. I realize breakfast is not the most exciting meal, and breakfast menus don't vary that much, fact remains... I had the Banana-Nutella french toast with a side of bacon. French toast dish was a little on the dry side, I would have liked some more moisture. The "Special Butter" was very good, and helped with this a little, but not too much. Bacon was fresh off the pan, and good, I mean come on, it's bacon! Maybe Lunch/Dinner would be better

Great food, classic old school diner feel and comfort. Very friendly and fun staff and customers. We played "musical stools" to make room for another couple, it was great very much make yourself at home place. Highly recommend it, and if you like banana bread order it with the special butter and off the grill!

Amazing little diner. Has crazy ambiance. A real throwback. Rickety little stools that let u belly up to counter in what seems like an old school dining cart. Girlfriend got the strawberry Heath bar waffle with caramel maple cinammon sugar butter. Unreal. I had the Hungary eggs Benedict with house made Hungarian sausage (like linguica but better!) so great. It's a husband & wife team running the show. Service was outstanding & you are in & out very fast. Soooo worth a visit!

Wow! New favorite spot! This diner has incredible food and amazing service. The staff is so incredibly nice and quick! I must say that I was a little surprised when I first walked in because it's only bar-seating (no tables), but that's also what makes it so great. The bar has a beautiful granite top, and the atmosphere is adorable and quaint. The food... Incredible. I'm a tough critic- very picky, so this review says a lot!

I went to this place the other day for the first time I had seen it on diners drive-ins and dives I was going to check it out I was pleasantly surprised from the Benedict with the Polish sausagehomemade in-house to the grilled cheese sandwich with five different types of cheese and it says in the Nuttla frappe it's not owned by a young couple and always and if there was super friendly you got to check it out I hear their homemade hash is out of this world

It is indeed a great brunch-breakfast place. Secret home recipe for Hungarian sausage is definitely a delight! Full of R&B theme decoration. The waitress is very nice, considerate and outgoing. They gave us free sampler of home fries. Even the local residents visiting this place are super friendly and love to share. Cash only.

Great people running the place. Went there last week and they remembered my name a week later. Alicia makes homemade Hungarian sausage! Great place to meet locals too. Stop by if you are in the Salem/Peabody area. You won't be disappointed.

Awesome food and service. The marbled rye bread is the best I've ever had. Breakfast was so good I ordered a pastrami on the marbled rye to take with me on the plane home to Oregon. The friendliest excellent service one could ask for in this quaint little diner with a ton of charm

These guys are kind, friendly and welcoming the moment you walk in and till you walk out. The food is always great and out right on time. They make you feel at home and not ever feel bad about a special order. I've only been here thrice and definitely coming back more!

What else is there to say other than if you are looking for a fun, lively place with the best breakfast food around, then look no further!! Yes it is small and seating is tight, but that is the charm! It is a classic diner...with fun welcoming servers, and the food!! Fresh ingredients and a chef with passion for quality and flavors and quantity that leaves everyone satisfied make this as close to perfect as it gets! The homemade Hungarian sausage Benedict is culinary genius...sweet, savory, smoky and smooth with perfect eggs and the best homemade Hollandaise I have ever had!! Check out the daily specials which always change and you will not be disappointed!

My first time here, and was a great typical diner experience. The staff is very friendly. The food was great. No complaints. They make a homemade Hungarian sausage and it was great in my omelette. I liked the Hershey kiss with the check as well. Nice touch. Only complaint, is it very small and I am of very above average height. Was a little cramped sitting at the counter.

Nothing short of Exceptional! We stopped here after a quick scan of breakfast diners on Yelp, and picked this one essentially at random. Jackpot! A bit crowded (shoulder to shoulder with other guests) and fairly warm inside, which turned out to be the only negative thing we could figure out about this mini diner. Downright amazing food complemented by overly friendly staff, huge portions and low prices.

I go to Little Depot at least once a month and it truly is a neighborhood gem! The food is always spot on - their house-made sausages are amazing! The owners truly love what they do and will go out of their way to get to know you so you can greet you by name every time you walk through the door. Don't come here expecting a froufrou menu laden with duck confit and pork belly. But if you're looking for a solid and delightful diner experience, this is where you should go.

Can't say enough good things about the Little Depot Diner! Alicia and Jade are quick, friendly, and extremely personable. Food is amazing! Ross, the chef, is super talented. The one tiny problem I have is that there is no bathroom. I'm so happy I found this place!!! Coming here has become part of my weekly routine.

My parents insisted on bringing me, my wife, and two kids to this place because it was voted best in Massachusetts. We were lucky enough to get six barstools in a row. The two waitresses that were working were awesome and really fun. They were super friendly and made us feel at home right away. I ordered the house special which came with the homemade Hungarian sausage and it was delicious. This is a place for locals but visitors will feel welcome as well. The waitresses will make sure of that.

Typical food. Nothing special. Blueberries in my pancakes were from a can. Nice people, fast service, lots of regulars and a charm to the place but the food was typical greasy spoon diner food.

On our East Coast travels, my husband wanted to hit a Diners, Drive-ins and Dives joint so we gave the Little Depot a shot. Alicia and Jade were super friendly and talkative and wanted to make sure Boston was treating us nicely, as there apparently is a certain not-so-friendly reputation among Bostonians. No one in Boston or the outer areas made us feel anything but welcome (maybe that's because we're so likeable). ;) I asked it the turkey was fresh turkey, and was told 'yes, it is," so I ordered the turkey sandwich. This is always a tricky situation... fresh deli turkey, or fresh roasted turkey, or fresh as in WE COOK THE TURKEY IN OUR OWN KITCHEN... It's all in how you ask the question, the exact words you use. You can ask if the turkey is fresh roasted turkey and get a 'yes' answer, only to discover that the label on the deli meat packaging reads "Fresh Roasted Turkey." I'm not sure what the situation is here other than either there are more people than not who do not understand what "fresh turkey" means, - OR - I can never seem to remember how to formulate the question well enough to get the answer I am looking for. No blame, no fault. My sandwich was really good, deli meat and all. Turkey on really flavorful and fresh marble rye with swiss cheese and thousand island dressing. I ordered the home fries on the side and they were tasty as well. Additionally, the sandwich was so huge, i could only eat half. Free refill on my ginger ale, too! The baked beans were ok... not remarkable, but good. Husband ordered the pastrami and swiss and it was messy and melty and delicious, and he ate the whole thing. The 3-cheese grilled cheese sandwich that the kid ordered was so good we saved the other half, as hers was just as big as mine. Ooey, gooey, melty cheese. Mmmmm. I am pretty sure I posted a pic of my sandwich here. Everyone who comes to this joint is obviously a regular. You walk in, sit down, and within minutes, Jade and/or Alicia are asking how you're doing, what you've got going on for the day, and they seem genuinely happy to be right where they are. Can't say I blame them. It's a pretty cool establishment. Main bummer: We tooooootally forgot to sign the guest list on our way out!!! :(

By far, the best breakfast in town! Great local find and a remarkable hidden gem. Outstanding service, super fresh coffee, and the breakfast sandwich a must! Save yourself a starbucks run! We visit often and they are amazing every time! See ya soon!! You guys rock with your jazzy blues.

Hats off to this little place!!!! Totally will be going back when I can, coming from Lawrence it's a haul but worth it if I had too!!!!

I have only eaten brunch here. Great local diner with solidly delicious old school classic breakfasts with a modern twist. There is nothing overly original here, it is like many old style Northeast diners, but they make consistently good food for decent prices. Don't go here if you have an aversion to greasy bacon, fried foods, and large meals. It is a usually a mixed crowd of college students, artist types, and locals that go here. It is a small places with limited seating, so it can get packed on Sunday with long wait times but it is worth it. Go there early and hungry.

  • C R.

I really enjoy this place. The gals who work here are very friendly - they go out of their way to greet and meet their customers. The place itself if an old train car - there's a model train that runs around the ceiling's edge - great treat for the kids (and train lovers) to watch. The food is good - just don't like the plastic plates and cups. I like the old porcelain coffee cups and plates. YOU'VE GOT TO ASK FOR THE SPECIAL BUTTER!

I found this little gem through this app. Such a cute, small place with a great breakfast. With blues music playing and great staff, the Little Depot is a don't miss while in Peabody. Belly up to the counter for their homemade Hungarian sausage, home fries and amazing banana bread -- grilled with their special butter!

My husband and I came here for the first time today, and we'll definitely be back. Walking into The Little Depot, it for the most part looks like any other Diner. I was expecting to get the typical greasy breakfast that I probably could have just cooked myself at home, but instead we got food that was not only filling but flavorful as well. The hot sauces were very tasty and the banana bread was delicious. Definitely get it grilled WITH the "special butter". Home fries were really good. Nice and crispy. The staff was super attentive and friendly and the turn around time was great. We'll definitely be back.

I can't believe it's been well over 3 years since I last ate here! We came this morning around 10am, and the place was very busy (nothing new, there)! I had the eggs bennie (classic style) and my boyfriend had French Toast with their special caramel cinnamon butter. All told, the food was *still* great, and the friendly service was A+. The owner, who works behind the counter, is so gregarious and down-to-earth. It was fun to just listen to her conversations with all the customers (hey, the seats are close; I wasn't eavesdropping :). Also, I loved the train car set that runs around the perimeter of the diner. The seating is a little tight, so you might want to try coming in early if you can.

Fabulous find! In from out of town looking for breakfast int he area this morning. Went here due to rave reviews on Yelp. I was NOT disappointed. Warm and friendly owner-waitress. Her husband the cook make a fabulous meal. Do not miss the grilled banana bread with the special butter" or the hungry depot breakfast sandwich with homemade Hungarian sausage. I am someone who prefers to try new places rather than repeat a restaurant. We are, however going back tomorrow!!
