Not impressed. If this is the best Chinese food in the area, we are all in big trouble. We ordered Chinese delivery from this restaurant. The portions were large but not tasty. The egg rolls are strangely filled with pork only...alas, no cabbage or anything to give it a crunch. Just a "mushy" diced pork inside. Ewww... The egg drop soup had a nice flavor but was underwhelming. There were mushrooms in it but none of the mushroom flavor permeated the broth. Mushrooms must have been added as an afterthought. The overflowing portion of pork fried rice had little to no flavor, and the pork pieces were extremely fatty....ewwwww, again. The Hunan chicken had bell peppers, water chestnuts, and bamboo shoots along with the chicken. The sauce had a hint of spice but certainly nothing worth writing home about. Too much ginger flavor. And as for the won ton soup, I've been told that the won tons themselves are fabulous; however, the broth tastes like nothing more than water. Overall, disappointing.

This is a take out restaurant off the beaten path. They have a few tables but this review is for anyone who lives on the North Shore and heads up or down route one. On your way home one night call ahead and pick up Chinese at I Yit Ho. It is the best Chinese in the area. They have an open air kitchen so you can see the food being cooked. It is a family business and they are all super nice. I love the house special fried rice with many large pieces of shrimp, beef, chicken and more. Huge chunks of everything cooked perfectly. The Peking ravioli are delicious. The sesame chicken has huge pieces of chicken in an awesome citrus sauce buried in sesame seeds. I love it. The ribs are meaty and again huge. Everything is good. The hot and sour soup, chicken noodle/won ton combo. House lo mein all great. Everything is cooked fresh to order so call ahead for pickup. It takes time. I love this place. Enough food for three meals every time. A+. check it out!

Large and impressive portions, but the food was fair at best. Would certainly go again, but wouldn't rave about it to friends and family.

Probably one of the best Chinese take-out places in Eastern Mass, and I've definitely been to my fair share. When I Yit Ho opened about 15 years ago, it was (and still is) the only Chinese take-out in the West Peabody area. The place is still popular with the locals, and I miss it dearly. Everything on the menu is excellent. They have the best Peking Raviolis anywhere, hands down. Big, plump and juicy. All of the standard fare is available, as well as Chow Fun and Pad Thai dishes, which are also absolutely delicious. The only thing on the menu that I was ever disappointed with was the General Gao's Chicken (go to Su Chang's up the street for the best Gao's on the North Shore). But I won't hold that against them. The staff is very friendly, and is the same family who have owned and operated the restaurant since it opened. The place gets slammed on New Year's, and with the small waiting area crammed with hungry patrons with waiting families, chaos usually ensues. It's definitely an experience though, and worth it for the food. Prices are reasonable and you get a lot. They always pack the boxes and containers to the brim and sometimes overflowing with rice, noodles, apps, etc. The lunch and dinner specials are also generously portioned. You certainly get your money's worth here. I Yit Ho is one restaurant that I miss greatly since I moved, and I've yet to find a replacement that can match them. Somehow I don't think I will.

Hands down best Chinese food anywhere. Crab Rangoons are fantastic, as are the Peking Raviolis.

Until a week ago I loved this place. We ordered at 6pm on a Friday night. At 8:15 my husband called to ask where the food was and the man who answered the phone told him it was "on the way." 5 minutes later he called back and said it would be there in 10 minutes. At 8:40 he called again and the woman who answered told him they were very busy. When he indicated it had been 2.5 hours, she yelled at him. Yelled. At. Him. When the food showed up just after 9 (3 hours after we ordered it) the delivery guy said that everybody hated the woman and called her an f'ing bitch. The food was hot, which means it had just left the restaurant. Terrible customer service, and they offered nothing for making us wait 3 hours, having an unprofessional woman yell at husband on the phone and tell him how busy they were, and then have our food finally arrive with an employee who disrespects his employer.

I was referred to try. The portions are good. Delivery might take you a while if they don't look up where they are actually going before they try to come to you. Plus, they will keep calling you until they find where you actually are, broken language. It was the "BEST" in this area. A OK!

Chinese takeout with large portions and reasonable prices. Owners are very friendly and remember your order. Nothing fancy or gourmet just good basic tasty chinese food.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
