A awesome resturant!! Was a little intimidated at first because it seems to be locals joint, but treated great by then hostess and waitress. Got a daily special whole family got other things on menu. Everyone's food was out of this world. Also beer was cold. Will visit this place again. Make sure you read the white board for the daily specials!

By far one of the worst dining experiences I have had. The only reason this place is getting 2 stars instead of 1 is because my grilled lamb wasn't so bad. I came here with a group of three other people. It was very busy and we waited about 35 minutes to get seated. That wasn't so bad. When we were seated, our waitress greeted us and we one member of my party ordered a clam chowder and asked for some Tobasco sauce on the side. I ordered an Angry Orchard cider. The chowder and my drink were brought out fairly quickly but there was no Tobasco sauce and the glass that was brought out with my cider had a lipstick smudge on it. I told the waitress and she looked at the glass and took it away. No apology or anything. A new glass was brought out, but the sauce never materialized. Next it came time to order dinner. I got the grilled lamb special with bacon and cheese mashed potatoes and no vegetables because the only options were asparagus and cole slaw. I do not like cole slaw and I have a slight asparagus allergy, which I made sure to mention to our server. Two other people in my group ordered the prime rib special: one medium and one medium rare with bacon and cheese mashed potatoes and the asparagus. It took about an hour for us to get our food and we weren't checked on once, nor did anyone come over to apologize. The restaurant was busy, but it is the Cape during summer. Of course it is busy. The two prime ribs were brought out and then I assumed the waitress went back to get the other two meals, but she served another table, that was seated much after us, before she brought out the rest of our meals. When my food came out, the asparagus was on the plate and I had a baked potato instead of the mashed potatoes because they had run out and no one told us during our extremely long wait. I mentioned to the waitress about the allergy and she looked at me and said "oh" while someone else removed it from my plate. Then she looked at me and said "OK?" and walked away. No apology or anything. If it had been a serious allergy, I would have been in trouble. The medium prime rib was pretty much still mooing and after waiting a while to flag down our waitress again, it was sent back. What was brought back out was a gray, horrendous looking piece of meat that was not eaten and taken off the bill. I never need to come back here again. The only things I liked were the lamb and the bread at the beginning. Everything else left a lot to be desired.

Good lunch food, charming service. Surprisingly empty at noon on a Sunday. They make their own root beer, and it's fantastic!

This hidden gem is a newly renovated no frills eatery that typically services locals and tourists. The food is fresh and tasty, the staff is attentive and caring and the portions are quite large. We had lobster rolls and salads. The lobster roll was huge, the meat was sweet and tender and not too laden in mayo. Absolutely delicious. I recommend the Yardarm and will definitely return on our next trip to the Cape.

This place isn't fancy, but the food has always been very good, I eat here often, never had a bad meal. Last night I had the eggplant parmesan. It's an inexpensive meal. The red sauce was so good! It tasted like freshly made sauce ought to. the eggplant was so good! Not to thinly sliced and deep fried. both served over a perfectly cooked and well drained linquini. The portion was large to say the least. My food came out piping hot... My husband had the baked scrod, which he said was delicious. This is a local place so don't expect linen napkins or outrageously priced menus items.

The food was great however the time we had to wait to get our food was long and the waitress seemed to be less friendly at our racially mixed table. She never asked how the food was or if we needed anything but she did to other customers

Great service and food. Lots of good selections and variety. I had the spinach, mushroom salad and it was gigantic and tasty. My wife's chicken sandwich was great she says. Certainly would come back.

One of our favorite places for a casual no frills meal. Excellent seafood chowder, wings (Sweet Red Chili Sauce is our favorite) and the Jalapeno & Jack Burger is to die for! Service is always top notch.

Pub Fare, but a wide assortment of both fresh seafood and grilled or broiled meat dishes. The crock of onion soup is one of the best i've had. The stuffed quahog that i had last week was very good, and larger than ones i have had there before. This place is a local hang out, so tyou know the seafood is local and fresh. There are nightly specials on several nights of the week such as steak night, mexican night, prime rib night etc. Its good food.

Walked in trying to order takeout from the bar- Bar tender took the drink orders of 3 people who walked in after me.. So I left and ended up picking up frozen pizza at the gas station for the night.. Can't help but think that the frozen pizza is better than the food would've been from here.. Thanks for the warm welcome to Cape Cod!!

Out with the kids and looking for a new pub food place. Dropped into the Yardarm. Good Service OK Food Lot's of regulars at the bar who hopefully weren't driving.

OMG. This was so terrible! We just had lunch there. Service was unfriendly but efficient. Clam chowder was edible but canned. The lobster roll arrived with only one side of the bun grilled. The other side was soggy and coated in grease. The lobster meat looked old and unappetizing but I hoped it would taste better. No such luck. It was lobster that was clearly not fresh and tasted foul. My husbands burger was mediocre (think frozen and preformed beef patty) and his fries were bland and not worth eating. The waitress seemed put out that I sent back my lobster roll and never apologized. They did take it off the bill though. Never again will I be eating here.

Excellent food at a good price. The service was friendly and efficient. We went for dinner on a Thursday night and were seated right away. I had the steak tips and onion soup. She had the BBQ ribs. All were excellent! We will be back for sure!

The Yardarm is my favorite "local flavor" pub when in Orleans and the immediate area. It is a comfortable dive bar whose positive attributes include cleanliness (with the occasional exception of the tiny, airliner-sized men's room), friendly service, good food, a varied menu featuring many white board specials, and good prices. I love their burgers, and they have some very tasty, interesting sandwiches. Extra points for Cape Cod Pale Ale on tap. I had disappointing, soggy calamari on my last visit (get the oil to the right temperature Cookie), but I usually leave satisfied. Here's an insider's tip: DO NOT under any circumstances proceed beyond the "Please Wait Here" sign just inside the entrance. The manager/hostess lady goes ballistic. I learned that the hard way a few weeks ago. I walked past to say "hi" to friends who were already seated. Manager/hostess lady got all prickly, tersely asking "Can I help you sir?" But it gets better. She said to someone at the bar "Some people can't read." I told her that I can, in fact, read, explained why I walked past the sign, and told her it was rude to say that. We exchanged a few words...Awkward, right? Anyway, we made up; spent the rest of the time kissing each other's butts to wash away the ill will. All is well that ends well. Net: Yardarm is a great place when you're hankering for solid pub food and good fried seafood at low prices. Do not overreach and you will enjoy yourself. Tell manager/hostess lady that the guy who can't read said "hello." Please let me know what you think of this review. Thanks.

The Yardarm is truly a place for neighbors in the 'hood. Friendly, and my friends say it has the best onion rings on the planet. That, I couldn't say, I don't eat them. But that, again, is tonight's destination!

Not bad, not great. They have a solid beer list, a cozy dining room and a fairly expansive menu. The staff seems nice and competent enough, but didn't leave any lasting impression. Our food is where the only real issue was. And not because it was bad, but again, it failed to make any real impression. I had a bowl of the clam chowder. Eh. Then I had the fish tacos, a house favorite according to the menu. Eh. My girlfriend did not like her severely overcooked burger. Probably won't be back.

I always enjoy a neighborhood bar with good food, and after driving by many times, finally stopped in on a cold winter night. Didn't expect gourmet anything, but also didn't want the rubbery baked cod I found alongside a foiled-wrapped shriveled baked potato. Either the fish was pre-frozen or overcooked--couldn't tell, swimming in wine/butter sauce. Big portion, but who cares when it was barely edible. Again, I'll ask, why is it so challenging to find basic, fresh, well-prepared fish on CAPE COD?! PS. maybe the best tip, hearing the bartender ask his friend about ordering wings to-go from Double Dragon?!

Solid casual eatery near the heart of Orleans. The weird thing is that this place used to be something of a biker bar; a place where rugged bearded gentlemen could shoot some pool and load up on whatever was on tap. I'm not suggesting it was Hell's Angels mischief or anything - the Cape is the Cape - but it's still funny to me that the Yardarm is now a funky little family restaurant. As you might expect from its location, the menu is heavy with seafood, especially if it can be fried. They make good burgers and a decent sandwich, and I enjoyed the teriyaki chicken salad more than I expected. I was less impressed with the calamari, but it was edible. It's a pretty robust menu, all told, and there's plenty for the kids, too. Despite the shift to casual dining, there's still a full bar with a lot of good stuff on tap. The flowing brew and casual vibe bring in all kinds of people to the place, which provides a nice atmosphere. There seems to be a pretty steady crowd of regulars on-hand, and they really liven the place up with good cheer. Service has always been jovial and helpful. As you might expect, it can be difficult to get a table (or stool) during tourist and/or beach season as the Yardarm and Land Ho do their best to service the huge tide of families looking for a menu with chicken fingers on it. Luckily, the place is open quite late if you want to sample the wares without a long wait. I wouldn't call it a must-eat restaurant, but it's a nice little joint. Prices are a bit high, given the modest fare - but that's Orleans for you, I guess. A thumbs-up if you're a hungry family looking for a full menu, or if you're out late and are craving something warm and tasty.

What a wonderful experience we had! We had a party of 8, called before leaving the house and they rsvd a table for us. Great food! Awesome chowder, big portions! Good Price...can't wait to go back next year!

Although we had a 730 reservation we were indifferently seated a little after 8 o'clock as the hostess said to us "okay let's go". Our waitress was very pleasant and efficient but our dinner was somewhat disappointing. The clam chowder was tasteless and if it were not for the fact that it was called clam chowder, we would never have guessed there were any actual clams in it. In general the food was at best so so, and our experience was less than memorable. Actually the poor treatment we received from our hostess will remain in our memories for years to come and make for a few good stories to tell our family when we get home.

Great service, everything we ate was made in house, food came quickly and cost is reasonable. We got fried scallops and fish and chips as well as clam chowder. Would highly recommend for a casual and easy dinner.

Always a rightous decision to go here. The tourists go to Land Ho, Cape Coders come here. Fish and chips are a winner and I love the fried chicken dinner. Always start with fried clams or clam chowder. Burgers are made by hand.

Great place, Great food and Great hosts! Let's start with the food: The Fish and chips were awesome! My husband had the Clam Strips and they were terrific! Jayne and John ,the owners, were so hospitable and friendly. Before we left I wanted to grab a bowl of clam chowder for later. Pat, our waitress, was spot on. She brought out tastings of both the clam and seafood chowder. I would never have ordered a seafood chowder, always opting for clam instead. It was so amazing and rich that I got a bowl to go. My husband got the clam chowder. Regardless, we will definitely be going back to Yardarm again.

Been here a number of times over the past couple years and I kind of like it for what it is. What it is is a dated hole in the wall place with decent food. It's a fun atmosphere and certainly nothing fancy. Shorts and tee shirt kind of place. I had the fish & chips last time I was there and enjoyed it. I should have gotten the larger size. But over the years between me, friends & family we're tried a lot of different things and everyone always seems happy. I think the food is slightly better than at the Land Ho nearby though they are very similar type places.

Best meal we've had all week! Fried oysters were luscious, fresh, crispy on outside, melt in your mouth inside, seafood goodness. Fries & cole slaw were good also. Really tasty Belfast Lobster Ale to wash it all down. Other half had baked haddock which he proclaimed (several times) as $&#*@ delicious! Chowder was very tasty as advertised. Finished it off with Lemoncello Cake and coffee which was sweet and tasty. But, hands down, the meal was the winner! Hostess was excellent. Our waitress seemed a little preoccupied but the food was great and came out timely so really can't take away a star for preoccupation. Give them a try!!

We recently visited the Yardarm during a busy lunch time rush and the hostess Patty F. took special care to seat us quickly and was especially attentive during our meal. My father ordered the spinach salad and a Guinness, my mother ordered the crispy chicken roll up and I had the fish sandwich-all were delicious. We finished our meal with the triple layer chocolate cheesecake and it was enjoyed by all. This restaurant has a local feel, welcoming staff and it has definitely be added to our list of favorite restaurants on the Cape!

I was jealous of Matt J's pastrami sandwich...I'll admit it.There was so much oozy cheese and sauerkraut in that grilled sandwich I found myself wishing I had ordered that instead of my crab cakes.... But server said anything fried and anything seafood was this pub's specialty! So I went with that and ordered the crab cakes which looked pretty and the sauce served on top was pretty good, but I prefer my crab cakes a little more seared on the outside--it was not quite what I was envisioning after our 20 mile bike ride that day ha. Plus having crab cakes served with baked beans was a little strange too ha The beans were okay...but the coleslaw was a little bland for my taste. But Matt J's sandwich now that was a winner. Plus he substituted the fries for their onion strings which was another winning choice. Those things didn't taste too fried at all, and they definitely kicked the butt of their regular fries and their spiced curly fries. So really this place deserves 3.5 stars, but since I can't give half stars, I had to round down for the sides with my dish, especially for being $13...and we could tell some of the staff were not happy to see a party of 8 that late into the lunch session...But this random locals spot really is better than it looks! We were all a little hesitant when we walked in, but the second we saw the popcorn machine we knew we were in good hands ha

The chowder was, is, and always has been delicious. The service is friendly. We had a small issue where they didn't box everything we asked for up for a doggie bag. We mentioned it to our server and she came back with complete orders to make up for it. This is the kind of place the Yardarm is. Go there, and when they tell you it'll be a 45 minute wait, you sit there, have a beer and shut up about it. It's the Cape...you're on vacation. Relax!

Came here on a busy Friday night. Luckily there was only 2 of us, so we only waited about 20 minutes for a table, during which time we grabbed a drink at the bar. The atmosphere is loud, very loud, but never deafening - I never had trouble hearing my boyfriend across from me at dinner, and the volume only adds to the ambiance, it being a local pub. They only have one local beer on tap - the Cape Cod IPA - which was a little disappointing as Cape Cod Beer has many other great brews, but the IPA is excellent. For appetizers we shared the popcorn shrimp and stuffed quahog, both were very tasty. For dinner I got the fisherman's platter, which includes shrimp, scallops, sole, and whole belly clams with fries and coleslaw. All of it was cooked very well and the fish was flaky and soft, which I liked. My boyfriend had the BBQ ribs, which were also tasty, but not out of this world delicious. All in all we had a great time here and will be back again. It's worth a try for dinner if you're in the area - their menu is large, and their specials board includes lots of different options.

High expectations are made when someone tells you it is some of the best (pub) food on the Cape. We had the clam chowder and the Sky High Club. Excellent, filling chowder. The sandwich was good, but probably not the best item on the menu to test the rave reviews. Service was friendly and the atmosphere is very comfortably warn-in and older. That only comes with years and years of dedicated patronage. The Pats game was on and the whole bar area was full, so we sat at a table in the dining room. It's the kind of room where you can hear everyone's conversation but in a place like this that isn't a bad thing. We loved listening in, and when we weren't paying attention I'm sure our conversation made for some interesting moments for the other tables. The food came out quickly, and the menu is actually so well-rounded with all the classics it made it difficult to pick! We will definitely come back when we're in the area and try out some of the more local dishes.

What a great little spot. We came here with friends while staying in Eastham. This felt like the local spot among the touristy traps. The menu had enough to please everyone and if it didn't the specials definitely did. Think $8 for a cheese burger. "M" had the jalapeno burger for $8.75 and really enjoyed it. "A" had the sole sandwich and loved it.

Came here after a short trip to the Cape with some friends. I had the Cape Cod Scrod.... to be honest, it was very bland - not a lot of flavor at all. Unimpressed. However, the clam chowder was faaaaaaaantastic. Far better than Legal Seafood. My friend had the scallops, and she too said it wasn't that great, but she loved the chowder, which is high praise because she doesn't even like chowder much to begin with.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. The bar is always full of regulars. The drinks are strong, and the food is Good. It has good character and is all around my kind of place. Fried Seafood is great. Must try Seafood Chowder. Good Burgers. I could see this place scaring away the uptight ritzy crowd, but I like it for what it is. A solid locally owned place to go grab lunch and a beer.

No complaints with the bar or the food. We stopped in at the end of March, so it was off-season. There were no tables of four available but we decided to wait the 20 minutes that the hostess guessed. Grabbed a couple of beers at the bar and sat down at a hightop to wait. About ten minutes later the hostess informed us that one table had their bill so it shouldn't be long. We watched as that table and two others left and the staff cleaned them. Still we sat at the hightop. About twenty minutes later we got up and stood at the hostess station, whereupon the hostess saw us and it was apparent she had forgotten all about us waiting. Finally got seated. The waitress came and got our drink order and promptly brought them to the table, then promised to be right back to take our order. We then waited about 20 minutes as she bounced around from table to table, never stopping at ours. She finally stopped only to apologize and tell us she had to take another parties drink order and then she would be back. Gave the excuse that we had come in right after the rush. After about another 10 minutes she finally arrived to take our order. I can understand being swamped during the tourist season, but this was March and by the time we got seated the place was half empty. For a place that has been around for a while they should be better able to handle the off season dinner rush. The problem appeared to be more that the waitress could only handle on thing at a time, when she would take a drink order she would then go right to the bar and stand there until the bartender filled the order. No multitasking! Luckily the food was fine.

Great local hangout and restaurant. Good option with kids. The seafood was fresh. I made the mistake of having the fish tacos on "Mexican night." Not great, but not bad. Others in my party had good fresh seafood. Fish and chips looked great. Waitstaff was quite accomidating of the children and made the experience pleasant. The crowd was more heavily on locals with a large bar scene. We arrived at about 5:30 on a Wednesday evening and were seated right away. The restaurant was filled with people waiting when we left around 6:30. Bar was one deep. Beer and wine selection were a level up from a dive bar. Pricing was reasonable for a place on the Cape. This is a place we would certainly come back to with our next trip to the Cape.

Yardarm was overall a fantastic local Cape Cod Hangout. A place where the locals eat. The waitress was good and pointed out that the fish was locally caught within that day or a day or two max by local Chatham/Orleans fishermen. I had Fish and Chips which was awesome! No complaints. =) Great spot to feel like a Cape Cod local. Don't know how busy it gets in the summer, we went off season around late November.

This is a good place, with a good value for your dollar. I had the Chicken Angelino which was grilled chicken in a creamy tomato sauce over pasta. Very nice. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their entrees : Cape Cod scrod, a fish sandwich, and the haddock special. It's a cozy, noisy atmosphere where a lot of locals go. Call ahead because it's really busy in the summer..they won't take a reservation, but they will put your name on the "call ahead list" and you will save time. Our waitress was just ok..never offered her name and never checked on us after we got our food. But we were seated quickly and anything we asked for was provided.

We got take out before heading to the drive in. The lobster sandwich was great, the soup dynamite (we got the clam chowder and seafood chowder) , and a pork chop which was cooked perfectly. Casual, pub with friendly staff.

Best burger on the Cape...nice and charred and juicy. No gross gristle which you get in so many burgers. Service is hit or miss. If you go for a burger and a brewski you won't be sorry. You may have to go to the bar to get your second beer, but hey, that's part of the charm here.

We recently took over a rundown house in Orleans. The kitchen doesn't work. We've been back and forth many times to work on the house and the Yardarm is our favorite place to crash after a day of labor. It's relaxed and the daily specials are always good. It really is the best chowder around and the fried foods are not overly battered or greasy. You can sit and have a beer or a glass of wine and relax for a bit. - nobody rushes you. Try the board specials and you won't be disappointed. Looks a bit tiny from the road, but there is plenty of room inside. The staff is friendly and helpful. All in all a great little local joint.

  • Andrew P.

Walking in, the place is a bit stuffy, real noisy, and almost smells fishy, but, this vibe totally works; after all, this is a locals pub way out on the cape. The food was not mind blowing delicious, but tasty and priced well. The Cod fish 'n chips were not over battered so we could taste how fresh the fish was. Very good. The clam strips, on the other hand, were way too fried and I couldn't really taste the clams. Good clam chowder - not the best I've ever had. Lots of fresh daily specials up on the white board. Good local IPA to wash it all down. I'd rate the food 3 stars, but am giving the overall experience a 4 because the local fishing captain pounding beers at a table next to us was quite the character and made the visit memorable.

Great place! This a is great hole in the wall place filled with locals! You wouldn't step foot in here unless someone told u too and once in you will never want to leave! The baked stuffed shrimp were delish! The fried shrimp was one of the best I've ever had! It was in a very light batter and golden fried to perfection! Others had fried oysters, and eggplant parmigiana. No complaints from anyone except that we were all soooo full! Lol a great laid back casual place to come for deliscious food!

  • pete k.

Don't be intimidated by the 'hole in the wall' appearance of this place. Sure, locals go - but that's the best thing. If they are going, something must be right, right? Right. Fantastic fish 'n chips, chowder, and holy crap the stuffed quahog is amazing. The fish isn't coated with a massive oily batter - it is light, yet very crisp and the fish is very fresh. Its a very relaxed place, nice little bar and a few beers on tap (get the local Cape Cod brews - don't seem to be on the menu but they are on tap). Staff is very kind, and won't step on your toes.

This place is great. I had a delightfully fresh Sole BLT and was impressed. Kicked it back with a Cape Cod IPA and I was all set. The clams are great and inexpensive as well compared to the Cook's down the road. At for summer but I simply wish there was an outside space.

What more could you possibly want? Great local flavor, beautiful honest food, great drinks that, if they were any cheaper, they'd be paying YOU to drink them. I mean, really, how fussy can you be not to love this place? If you don't agree, perhaps at Olive Garden you'll feel like family...

OK, I have good news and bad news about the Yardarm. First the good news - this is a quaint little place with good food, great service and a friendly atmosphere!! I would definitely go back again, but maybe for dinner at night - probably the same food, but the price points would be in a more dinner mindset. Now the bad news - $60 for a lunch of fish and chips, a clamroll and a couple of beers. Ack! Just a little pricier than expected. I definitely think that this place is way better than any of the places on the strip (read Arnold's). Again, I would definitely return - it's a great atmosphere - there's a good beer selection (although no sangria for my wife) and it's off the beaten path, so not frequented by a bunch of loud tourists.

It was the end of a long day of flying/driving and we were looking for a place to just relax and eat. Thank you Yelp for directing me here. Yes it does seem like a lot locals eat here, which is a good thing. Locals always have the best tips for what to do in the area, so we enjoy their company. The restaurant is loud and lively, which is great for us since we have two boys and it reminds us of family dinners at home. The stuffed quahog is out of sight. They have daily specials, including steaks on Friday nights. The clam chowder was one of the better ones we've had. The lobster roll was delish. Finally, the prices were very reasonable for this part of the world...great for vacationers on a budget.

Love this place. It is a local hangout with solid food at fair prices. Great fried clams, fried scallops, and fish and chips. Really good burgers, and the stuffed clam is the best on the Cape. Very informal pub. Not haute cuisine, but if you feel like a casual night out, you won' do better than the Yardarm.

Went here earlier this week while visiting the cape with hubby, and my dad and step mom. We went to check out Nauset (SP??) Beach and then popped in here for lunch. We were sat right away. The staff was friendly and attentive, refilling water when needed. A little tight on space but they were able to seat people right away and had a steady flow. Food was good- decent size portions for the price. I got the Jersey sandwich- had turkey, ham, cheese lettuce and tomato and came with a bag o chips and a pickle. Huge portion but I was starving and ate it all. Hubby got a turkey club (I think), dad got a chicken sandwich and chowder to start and my step mom got the chicken and pasta salad. She thought it was going to have more chicken then it did- only three small chunks. Overall liked it and we would go back for sure.

Five stars not because it's the best food on the planet, but because they're consistently good at what they do--fresh pub food at good prices. If you're looking for a simple homey meal in a friendly atmosphere, the Yardarm is a great choice. Go with what they do best and you won't go wrong. The seafood is fresh, excellent fries and usually the onion rings are something special (every once in a while they're too greasy). Don't wear anything with a Yankees or Giants logo--this is where the local crowd likes to watch the Red Sox and Pats! Exceptionally friendly and consistent. And if you like classic creamy thick clam chowder, this is pretty much the best.

Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night with my husband and another couple while visiting the Cape. We arrived around 8:30 pm and was advised the kitchen closes at 9 pm (this was early May) so we rushed to put in our orders. Between the fours of us we had two orders of fish and chips, stuffed shrimp and steak. Everybody was happy with their meals and the service was good. Will be back but on the earlier side and with reservations during the summer months!

I had the lobster salad and the it was good served with fresh vegetables and a choice of dressings. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming but the waitress was crusty and didn't like answering many questions. Lastly, I did have the chowder and it was excellent (New England not New York style). As others have said, it is a good place for the value.

Really, the yahdahm is a great local pub with really great pub food. All the fried seafood is tasty and light with really generous portions. Great steak tips, great homemade fish cakes, awesome onion strings, nice waitresses that have been there forever. Yes, baked beans with the fish cakes, its a cape cod thing. Way bettah than the land ho, I used to like it there but its just weird now and way overpriced. Go to the yahdahm you will not be disappointed!

The Yardarm is one of our favorite places. The burgers are so tasty and the onion soup and seafood chowder are 1st rate. Great place to have a beer too!

I had dinner here a couple of months ago and it was one of the worst experiences with service I have ever had. Apparently, it was open from lunch straight through to dinner without having a period of time between according to the the hostess. The restaurant was kind of busy, not so busy to excuse the wait staff however. The hostess took what seemed to be 15 minutes before acknowledging us, we actually couldn't even tell who was the hostess was because she wouldn't even make eye contact to let us know she knew we were waiting to be seated. By this time I was about ready to go to another establishment who has a professional waitstaff with common sense, but we stayed. So continuing, she let us sit wherever we wanted, which attests to how "busy" they were... So, I tried to let this go and enjoy the rest of the experience here, which became even more horrible. Our waitress didn't come to our table, we waited about 10 minutes and we went to the bar to order a beer and some wine. Still, no waitress around, until I drank about half of my glass of chardonnay. When she came to greet us she had the personality of wet sock. She never smiled, never frowned, never had any range in her voice besides monotone. She didn't even address the fact that we had to go to the bar for our drinks. I had noticed this younger woman before I knew she was our waitress and she was nonchalantly taking orders of people who had arrived after us, standing around looking like a bump on a log... Anyways, besides having no personality, she really didn't know anything about the menu and didn't ask basic questions like, "how would you like that cooked?" or "what kind of salad dressing would you like?". I felt like she didn't want to be waiting on us or anyone else in the restaurant. My boyfriend and I eat out on a regular basis, anywhere from the Impudent Oyster to this place. Never have we had such awful service, I would never go back for food, maybe a drink at the bar, but that's about it. I would never and will never recommend the Yardarm to anyone. The food is mediocre, I mean it's pub or bar food and for the price it's a pretty good deal, but the service is atrocious and will ruin your night out.

We've been twice - once in season and once in mid-September. In season, it was decent but in mid-September it was no good. I don't know if the issue pertains to keeping good cooks in off-season or not. My wife had stuffed clams for appetizer which were no better than ones you'd buy in grocery store plus, I think the cook accidentally or on purpose dumped way too much pepper on them. Then for dinner, my wife does not like spicy food so she went for the orange chicken but it ended up having hot spices on it. I like spicy food and it was spicy. HERE's the kicker. The waitress then proceeds to tell us that this cook likes to spice things up even if shouldn't be. She told of how he once put Sriracha sauce into normal meet loaf to the unpleasant surprise to the customers who ordered it. I also complained that the air conditioner was on and it was less than 50 degrees outside and it was blowing across the table. The waitress's response was that well the kitchen's hot so we need it on. I was so underwhelmed by this place.

Small place, but great food and atmosphere. It's a casual place to grab a quick meal or knock back a few brews after a long day at the beach. I went with a few girlfriends a few weeks ago before a night on the town, and our meals were really good. I got a stuffed clam and coleslaw, and my friends got fried clams and a hamburger. All were satisfing and the prices were just right (Especially for recent college grads. like ourselves who are still unemployed due to this great economy). Stop in for some drinks or a fresh, Cape Cod seafood dish!

Don't be afraid--those big, bearded guys at the bar are actually the town officers and local school teachers. The Yardarm is where you go after you've grown tired of being taken by the Land Ho. Small-but-nice bar, good food and lively service. Solid.

It's mid-winter on the Cape, and lots of places to eat are closed. We wanted to try one we hadn't been to before. We read the reviews on The Yardarm, and decided to try it. Big mistake! While the staff were friendly, and the place buzzed with conversation, the food was AWFUL. I ordered baked scallops. They were tiny farmed bay scallops with no flavor. Worse, they came in a soupy sauce that was downright bitter. I had expected a casserole of tightly packed sweet-tasting sea scallops with some butter and a crunchy crust of bread crumbs. I got nothing like it. The side was carrots and broccoli. The carrots were raw cubes and the broccoli was one small uncooked floret. Only the French fries were decent. Twenty bucks for THAT??? I have a suspicion that people go here for the meat, for we saw many plates of burgers and beef tips, and not for the sea food. There are far better places within a mile to have seafood. And it wasn't inexpensive, either. Never again!

Great place, good value. Fish chowder is great, specials on the board are always good. A place the locals go and is open year round. The staff is hard working and very accommodating. Great place for kids.

Get the clam chowder- best I've had on the Cape. Friendly, relaxed service and a surprisingly varied menu. Great place to stop for a good lunch. (and has good A/C!)

I struggled between giving this place 2 or 3 stars. It's probably a solid 2.5... It's really more of a pub that happens to serve food than anything else. I ordered shrimp scampi. The shrimp were HUGE and they were perfectly cooked. But they were seasoned with jarred garlic, and the white whine in the sauce hadn't been cooked long enough. My husband ordered the prime rib sandwich, which he liked, and the marinara sauce on our kids' pasta was very flavorful. Overally, it was OK - we'll probably go back...

Most economical place in town for fish and chips. Also for the hungry man they have the large (gut-buster) portion.

Don't bother. The stale popcorn and poor service is not worth the wait. Unless you know someone that works there- then they may actually pay attention to your table. Otherwise you're in for a long night of eavesdropping on bad local gossip while you wait for lackluster food. All signs point to the Land Ho right up the street.

Nice folks there but the food was very disappointing. We were a party of 5 (2 kids and 3 adults) and started with nachos and mozzarella sticks. The nachos arrived with a very thick blanket of raw diced onions on top. This struck us as both unusual and unappetizing... seems there should be a warning (on the menu or from the waitstaff) if they must serve nachos this way. Really, how many people enjoy this? One child at the table inhaled the mozzarella sticks -- they seemed fine. One of us then had a side spinach salad which was enormous, fresh, and very nice. 2 of the adults ordered steak specials (one filet mignon and one NY sirloin). Though we both ordered the steaks cooked medium, they arrived very rare. We sent them back and they arrived a few moments later, charred on the outside and slightly more cooked on the inside. They tasted awful. Even A1 sauce did not render this meat palatable. Fortunately, when we told the waitstaff that the steaks were unsatisfactory and asked them to adjust the check, they did comp the steaks and charge us for soup instead. However, the staff were clearly very irritated -- though our waitress admitted on our way out that the chef had been ruining steaks lately. We did enjoy the draft beer selection (Bass, Stella, Cape Cod IPA) and the kids loved the restaurant's own bottled lemonade. We were also glad to be able to watch the Sox game. If they fixed the steak it would be an all right experience.
