Pleasant surprise and excellent, much needed addition to the Athol - Orange area!! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, clean and modern with a touch of the old factory feel. You can tell a lot of love and thought went into the planning and décor. Staff is always friendly and eager to please. The food?...the food is AWESOME!! Yes, the prices are on the moderate end, but, well worth every penny!! We have gone several times since they opened in May and have absolutely no complaints whatsoever! We have brought the kids, 4 of them, a few times and they were welcomed and pleased with their meals as well. Bread served pre-meal with homemade herb butter, is fresh baked and differs each week. I could live on the stuff!! The smoked prime rib, I was skeptical about initially. "Who in their right mind would smoke prime rib!?" Let me tell you, it is the best rib I have ever had! The smoke flavor is subtle and the garlic mashed potatoes as a side with the rib is a must have! Mac & Cheese is to die for, with or without the addition of lobster. Garlic clams...I could drink the juice from! And oh my god!! The baked scallops I had last week...I wanted to lick the dish. SO GOOD!!!! Every single item we have ordered has been delightful. We are food lovers who are sometimes overly critical...take our word for it, it is worth a visit or ten!!

I've wanted to give The Boiler a try ever since they opened, but the times I was in town didn't match up with Football Sundays (which I wanted to take advantage of because $2 drafts? Yes please!) Finally we had the pleasure of stopping by yesterday, and I am glad we did! While heading there my husband said, "I assume you know where this place is?!" Admittedly, you wouldn't just happen upon this place as it is quite a way from downtown. If you have some time to make the trek and try it out, you should. The mill is redone and has two parts (bar/restaurant in the "basement" and country store at the other end of the building). The bar has an old-fashioned feel and is nicely done. Seating at the bar was about a dozen stools so you may not be able to belly up to the bar when it's busy. We hesitated to order the loaded fries because the description said "cheese sauce and bacon bits", which had thoughts of Cheez Whiz and Bacos in my head and that didn't appeal. However, turns out it's shredded cheese and real bits of bacon so I am glad I asked! I am guessing others may have shied away after reading that description. We tried the loaded fries with all four of their barbecue sauces and they were all delicious. The $2 drafts were in small mason jars so they appeared to be 12 oz. at best, but the beer tasted cold and fresh. Next time we'll try the pulled pork.

This is my second time here. I came 11 months ago and did not give it a good review. I got an email from Dave, the owner, who stated that they closed for a short time and made some changes. I went tonight, a Sunday evening at 6pm. We, my teenage daughter and I, were immediately sat and drinks ordered. Bread came quickly. The bread was warm and sweet, very good. Appetizer ordered, fried pickles. They were to kill for delicious. And the sauce that came with it was awesome. I ordered some wine, Blackstone Cabernet. It was decent and inexpensive. My daughter ordered the Sirloin, with garlic smashed and parmesan fries ( 2 potatoes, I know). I ordered the Trio Sampler of ribs, brisket, and garlic sausage with the drunken beans and fries. Everything was fantastic. They make their own bbq sauces and they were great. It took a little while for the main meal, but I don't mind waiting for made-to-order food. The waitresses, Roxanne and Lynnette, were wonderful. I never had to ask for anything. I accused them of being sisters, but they're not. Overall, I would definitely go back again. It was just a perfect night. Thanks Dave for inviting me back after my last review.

Fantastic! Nicely done inside. Nice bar area with great seating, two large TVs behind bar. Very cozy and would be a great place to be on a Fall evening or Winter night. There is another separate dining room which looked very nice and inviting. Was there for lunch but I know this place would be great for night time dining. Now to the food...Delicious! I had the smoked chicken dinner and my wife had a burger. Chicken BBQ'd perfectly with endless home made BBQ sauces...Memphis and Chipotle, both excellent so much that I wish I could have taken both squirt bottles home with me. Wife's burger was cooked to perfection. Now the sides which came with the meals...hand cut fries were tasty and delicious. Mac and cheese creamy and good! And the Shock Top Lemon beer on tap went excellent with the meal. Place was neat and clean as a whistle.. And our server was very professional, kind and informative! We will definitely be back.

We went back to give it another shot tonight and I must say there has been some improvement. Here it goes: The Good: As mentioned before, the spicy pickles are amazing! The shrimp toast was also outstanding. Mashed and baked potatoes were very good. Meh: Meatloaf and gravy were well seasoned and it scratched the home cooking itch, but was dry (except for one piece). Steak tips were seasoned simply with salt and pepper but we're overcooked (medium was anywhere from medium well to well). Mac and cheese looked inviting but barely had a hint of cheese. I'd have been very unhappy if I'd have went with the lobster mac and cheese and got that). The Bad/Ugly: The table we were to be seated at had not been wiped down (food, sauce/mystery liquid on table). The waitress removed the "unused" water glasses, sprayed and wiped the table and then RE-USED the glasses on the table. She then said she would leave the glasses in case we wanted water (No way in hell!). This is a re-training/disciplinary issue that needs to be fixed imeadiately. The physical plant is unique for the area, the bar seemed to be busy and people looked happy. I'd love to love this place but I just can't. The rating went from 2 stars to 3 stars because the food is ok and with a little effort could be great!

Found this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. We walked into a pub with a really decent singer -- he had a nice voice and sang music I liked. The pub has a nice atmosphere and a good bar with a dozen draft beers. We started with the fried spicy pickles. I loved them. Then, we both ordered the BBQ -- the chicken was super. We went on a Saturday night and had leftovers for lunch Sunday and again for supper Monday. They have 2 kinds of homemade BBQ sauce and I really liked the honey chipotle. The owner greeted us when we arrived and stopped by our table before we were finished eating to see if we enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. My husband loved it -- we'll definitely be going back.

Wish I could give an accurate review of the food but we never got to try any of it. Went during the first week they opened and were quickly sat by the hostess but after that nothing, no one even came over to offer us drinks. Other wait staff came and went and smiled at us but unfortunately smiles don't fill your stomach. Left after 30 mins of zero service and never went back.

I cant review the service as I know the waitress personally and I want to be objective. All of the food is from scratch and its fresh. I like that and its appreciated. Decor- I liked it alot. And tgere was some live music in the bar. Wasnt bad at all and it wasnt too loud. It added to the experience without taking it over. Drinks were tasty and the martinis have liquor in them. I got tge special which was the mango duck. First came the side salad. Didnt like it. The lettuce they use brings a weird texture and there is too much of it. Go with a smaller sald w less lettuce and more tomatoes and cukes. Dressing was fine. Now I have only had duck at 2 other places so im not an expert. Now at the other places I got half a duck and it was tender....only needed a fork. At the boiler I got a leg and a wing and it was dry. I did like that they didnt overdue the mango flavor. I didnt like that I should beed a steak knife to eat it. The sides were great. Mash potatoes were good, I really liked their beans and I sampled the roasted beets, which I also liked alot. My daughter got the grilled cheese with a roasted tomatoe soup. The sandwich looked outstanding and it was a grilled cheese.....made me wish I tried a rueben. Now thats a plus and a negative, should I really hope for their sandwich over their special? No, Thats why they get 3 stars. I am looking forward to trying the sandwiches in the future. So I thought it was ok, they are trying to be something special in an area lacking special restaurants, but they just miss it. I give them props for making everything from scratch and trying ti do it the right way.

To begin, let's start with the grounds. There's a beautiful walk that brings you to a bench and a handicap entrance. There's a gazebo, and shrubbery. The walk way follows along side a water way. There's some old mill parts across the water. There is a no smoking policy. If you smoke, you must do so in your car. When you walk in the main entrance, you are met with a small flight of stairs to which you come to a platform at the base of the stairs. At this moment, you are greeted by a friendly staff member/hostess and your eyes are greeted with the view of a fully stocked bar, seating at the bar (for best tv view), barrel tables and stools and a couple of booths. If your interested in a more "private/quite" area, you can request to be seated in the back room (beyond the restrooms). When you get to the back, there is a group table/booth up on a platform on the right side as you walk in. On the left side, there are a series of booths with coat hooks on the end of each booth. As you enter further into the room, you will see the handicap accessible entrance and some "tables for two" tables. There is a foe fireplace, that lights up enough to trick your mind into thinking it's real. Appetizer Must Gets: 1) Onion Rings [they are skinny and long and have a flavorful batter] 2) Natchotatoes [ask for extra sides of everything, as they do not give enough. the sides are also NOT separate from thr tatoes] .. Clam Chowder: You must try this! [only one time it was watery, but pleasant. All other times, the chowder was to die for].... Ribs: be prepared, as they are dry rubbed ribs. not your run of the mill sloppy ribs. Lucky for you, they have 5 different kinds of Homemade BBQ sauces! French Fries: nothing too special. They neglect to salt their fries. So by the time you get the fries, the warmth and grease are gone and the salt can't stick to the fries. It's a shame, because the fries could be so much better. Meatloaf: I only tried it once and didn't like it... but my son did. I found the meatloaf to be dry, flavorless and grey. It felt as if the meatloaf was previously frozen then thawed and baked. Wasn't impressed. Now, with that out of the way. the rest of the Dining menu is fantastic! They did add a drink menu, that is awesome! However, the beer selection *plenty of choices*, seemed to be out of everything my boyfriend wanted. All in all, this place is great!

We were a party of 3 for dinner. Décor is nice, service was good. We ordered Thai toast, sirloin tips, smoked chicken + braised short ribs, the only short ribs on the menu. Food was good except for the short ribs which arrive dry and burnt...not braised...because that's what the chef wanted to send me. This would be a great place to go if you like to gamble and eat whatever the chef feels like sending out, despite what you order. It's simple, I order, you cook what I order...thanks! "Loaded" baked potato was pathetic, ample bacon bits, maybe 2 specks of cheese, and not a chive within 30 feet. And...yes...the fruit flies are still here and thriving as they were in the August review further down this list. They are your friends! I HATE bugs in restaurants, I don't have them in my dining room at home. Makes you wonder, huh? I'm not too sure where the 5 star review here came from. This is definitely NOT a 5 star place at this point. Apparently, Melissa G doesn't wash her hands much., 'cuz there's no hot water in the ladies room! Delicious bread + butter? Real in-house cooked bread is usually hot. Read my full review on Tripadvisor.
