Thanks to the many favorable Yelp reviews, we tried Thai Thani in Norwood for our Thai fix Saturday night. With a table for two by the window in this cozy establishment, we started with the soft rolls. They were packed full of fresh vegetables and came with a tasty peanut sauce for added dipping flavor. For entrees we had the vegetable pad Thai as the basil pad Thai. Both were nicely presented on the plate and more than enough for sharing. While the pad Thai was very good, the basil pad Thai was our favorite due to the added, but not overpowering kick the basil sauce provided. This little hole in the wall at the end of the strip on Washington St. is certainly a place to try for authentic Thai food. With the dining room so small, I would also suggest the take-out option.

The best Thai in the Greater Boston area. The food is always PIPING hot, fresh, and delicious. The Duck Choo Chi is especially good as is the Basil Pad Thai. The Golden Cups are a delicious appetizer. The staff/owners are always so accommodating and will do any special requests that you ask for. The prices are reasonable and nothing is ever frozen or pre-prepared. I have been eating here for 15 years and have never had a bad dish. Great value, great portion sizes, great service. Two huge thumbs up and five big stars for Thai Thani!

Date of service: Oct 31, 2014 Meal: Lunch, dine in All Ratings out of 10: Quality of food: 6 Food to Spend Value: 8 Quality of Service: 7 Overall Rating: 6.5 I was in the Norwood area for lunch, and Thai pretty much always sounds good. I had never been to Thai Thani before, but my father in law was a fan, so I decided to check it out with him. The place is small but has a nice atmosphere. The menu isn't huge but has quite a few options. We started with pot stickers. They weren't the best I have ever had, but they were tasty. For lunch I chose the seafood on crispy noodles. It came with several types of seafood and vegetables. The seafood and veggies were fresh and well prepared, albeit a bit bland (and I had asked for some spice). The thing that felt odd to me was that, though I was in a Thai restaurant, I felt like I was eating Chinese food (I even had a few Asian friends that I sent pics to make the exact same comment with no prodding from me). Granted, it was better than most Chinese food I have ever had, but I had trouble calling it Thai. This hurts the overall rating in my mind since, though the food was good, it wasn't what I was expecting. The service was pretty good, and the prices seemed pretty reasonable as well. The portions were quite large, and I definitely left the restaurant full. The food was hot and fresh and well prepared but just not "Thai" enough for me. Based on reviews, the locals love it, so they must not care about the authenticity of the food. Overall it is a good lunch spot, but if you are expecting amazing Thai, you will be disappointed. If you want to get full and have decent tasting hot Asian food, then this is a good choice.

We chose Thai Thai based on other reviews It's a small, family-run Thai place with about 8 tables for 2 and tables are put together for groups of 4 or 6. Street parking in Norwood. Near train station in Norwood We arrived early Friday evening. I'd say for every eat-in diner, 2-3 did take out. The lone chef kept everything moving. Favorites: * Soft Rolls Appetizer. It's a rice paper (not flour) roll filled with veggies and served with chef's sauce and ground peanuts. Serves 4 * Yellow Curry * Beef Pad Thai, served spicy * Fried Rice, with 3 shrimp, was my overall favorite with some sweetness to it 4th item was Crispy Lad Na and would not reorder There is no booze license and not sure about BYOB, so call ahead. Chopsticks on request. Open daily Lunch and Dinner (Sunday, dinner only)

YUM! The cutest place. Have ordered from here occasionally for years and I recommend it. I recommend take-out since there is VERY limited cafe seating. Parking can be a little difficult right on the main street but the food makes it worth it. Their Thai rolls are light and crispy and the veggies fresh. Chicken satay is seasoned beautifully and is tender and flavorful. The pineapple rice is delicious. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Cannot believe that I have yet to have the pad Thai, ever! That's next on the list.

This quaint location in Norwood center is a must for authentic Thai food, at a reasonable cost. Service was prompt and food was delicious. My favorite thing about this place is how deceiving it was. Having drove by here plenty of times, I never would have thought to have a sit-down meal at Thai Thani. Reading my fellow Yelp reviewers rave reviews, I decided to give it a try. The food was served hot and a great portion. A must for great Thai outside of Boston!

Great food, friendly staff. Really enjoyed authentic Thai food.

  • Marikym T.

It was okay Thai food. My husband's plate with the fried noodles had a sauce that was way too sweet. My fried rice just lacked flavor somehow. The soup I had was really good as was the Thai iced tea. I wish I could give it rave reviews like the ones I read as I do like the little restaurant and was looking for our new little "place" to eat.

Love, love Thai Thani. I have traveled to Thailand at least 20 times and even lived there for a year and this place makes Thai food as good as in Bangkok! My lunch entree was beef Massamam curry. Delightfully sweet and sour and savory. Perfection. The restaurant is tiny but cozy. Definitely not a fine dining atmosphere but comfortable and pleasant. Love it.

We got take out. When I went on I noticed it was very small(about 8 tables) and the smell was amazing. Let me just say that they have the best Pad Thai ever. We also got the steamed dumplings that were delicious. I tried the Golden cups, but I am not a big Curry guy, so I don't think I will do those again. Unlike many Asian restaurants, they use white meat chicken, which I think is key to having a delicious dish. The service was fast and friendly. Without a doubt, 5 stars.

Basil Pad Thai is the one and only thing I have gotten from here. and the dish alone is worth 5 stars. The place is tiny, but food is amazing

  • Yves P.

I ordered Tom Kha Gai and it was definitely not thai food. It tasted like sweet and sour stuff that they serve at large mall food courts. The staff looked Hmong more than Thai. My sister and niece love it and not sure why.

I love this place. Their food is worth waiting for. Seating is terrible so you are better off getting it to go. But the food itself more than makes up for it. I stop here on way home from work at least once a week.

This place has awesome food. I am picky, so I have not tried a lot from the menu - but the things that I have got, I love. When you go there, and sit down, they offer you a free small cup of chicken noodle soup, and i am OBSESSED with it. I also have tried the Thai Thani salad, and that is also amazing. It comes with this super awesome peanut sauce, and it's really cheap. My typical order is a small (sometimes large) order of the chicken noodle soup, and a thai thani salad. People that I have ordered with, have tried multiple things on the menu, and have all been satisfied.

The best resturant ever!!! Amazing food.. I order basil pad thai.... fast service. . Only problem is tiny sitting area.. I prefer to take out... they accept cash only below 15$

This is the best Thai food within my surrounding area. Its more expensive than most, but you get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

My favorite local place for thai takeout. Be sure to bring cash if you have just a small takeout order. Basil Pad Thai and Red Curry are both delicious.

The salad has freakin potato chips!!!!!!!!! For this reason by itself Thai Thani gets 5 stars! Small hole in the wall which I loved (back in FL we only get big places, so nice to see these local mom and pop's). Not many tables, and we got a 2 top near the register. Not perfect but whatever. Two of us, and we ordered the following Chicken dumplings. Very light and comes with a nice thin dipping sauce. Enjoyed these. Soft rolls..fried tofu w/ peanut sauce. Really needs the peanut sauce, otherwise it's just vegetables in a crepe type wrap. Once the sauce was on I really liked it. Salad w potato chips. To me this was the star. Fresh lettuce, cucumber, carrot, potato chip, onion, tomatoes and pineapple chunks. Served with peanut dressing. The combo of a piece of hot tofu and cold pineapple.....whoa, lookout. Then i'm getting my lettuce with potato chips...c'mon!!! Basil pad thai. Arguably one of the best pad thai's I have ever had. Very thin noodles, not overly sweet sauce. Loved it. Bamboo shoot shrimp. This was good just not overwhelming. really enjoyed my meal...looking forward to going back.

Best Thai place yet, in Boston. (or anywhere else!) I was in Norwood for work today and saw this place nearby with great reviews, so I stopped in and ordered Red Curry Chicken plate. YUMMY!!! perfect amount of spice and everything. I was very impressed. Love how it's run too, a small 6-7 table only restaurant ran by a family. Good service, you can almost see the Cook making the food in the back ground. So yummy that I will bring my family back for more food. Gotta try more dishes. Very excited I stumbled upon this place! A Must Eat.

Besides the chicken, chicken stock, and coconut milk, Tom Kha Gai should have 4 main ingredients: kha, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves and some fresh chilies. It should be made on the spot, and it takes all of 5 minutes to put together. It's utterly brain-dead simple to make and should be the starting point for any evaluation of a thai restaurant. The sugar coconut soup I was served here had none of this. It had some chicken and some vegetables and some mushrooms with that "simmered for hours" look to it. And it had NO bite, no crispness, no kha punch, no aromatic flavors at all. It was sweet enough to be a desert. The sugar should be added by the diner, but if added by the chef should just be enough to take away some of the bitterness of the roots and shoots. Even with a spoonful of chilies and fish sauce added, I couldn't stomach it. The red curry was passable if bland, but my basil dish was another bland soupy sugary mess just like you'd get in a chinese restaurant at a mall or airport. It was Chinese vegetables (peppers and carrots and onion) stir-fried with a syrupy brown sauce. Judging by the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I'd say they have their audience nailed. But this is very clearly not Thai food.

I can't get enough of their food. Love thai food, and these guys do it best. Sitting in isn't very comfortable, since the place is so small and always busy. They make an amazing chicken pad thai.

Some of the best Thai I've had in recent memory. Thai Thani is a very small location with seating for less than 20, which adds to its appeal. The staff plays numerous roles, but still make sure you're taken care of well. The service is fast and the food is good. Definitely worth many more visits.

Visited my cousin brother's place, in Norwood, for a vacation. He's a big fan and well he obviously took me along. It was a small place and I kept wondering what made it one of his favorites! It was after I started eating, I realized, they did have decent food, It is very inexpensive so don't expect much of an ambience or decor!

I can't say enough about this place. Have had two experiences to date and plan on having many more. First time was dinner on a quiet Tuesday night in their dining room. The service was tremendous. The owner was very accommodating to my girlfriend's vegetarian diet and even explained the origin of some of the dishes to us. It felt like a very welcoming experience. We ordered the soft rolls for an appetizer which are so delicious with all of the vegetable flavors and mint. The Thai basil chicken and tofu dishes were great. Last night we went back for takeout but this time sampled the yellow curry dish which was amazing! I have had lots of thai food but you can really taste the traditional and authentic style to this food - and all at a very reasonable price. The service is fantastic and the welcoming feel you get when going in is great. Highly recommended.

Best Thai food in the area - hands down. The currys, the pad thais and everything else is fresh and delicious. Service with a smile and we've never had a bad meal from here. Highly recommended!

That is the best thai food I have ever had. Made a yelp account for first time to do it. So good. I am from the city and don't usually expect much once you get out of the city. This place blows away any other spot I have been. Would commute to get here if I am anywhere nearby again.

  • Amanda C.

This place is yummy and portions are a good size for the price! I love their golden cup appitizer - the filling you put into the little golden cup is so yummy! Their thai iced tea is yummy as well. This place is pretty tiny with only about 5 or 6 seats if I remember correctly, so definitely not for groups!

I came here expecting great food and was incredibly disappointed. I decided to order the basil pad Thai as everyone raves about it. What a mistake! It made me realize that no one has ever had basil pad Thai anywhere else if this was considered amazing. The dish had minimal spice, I had to add chili paste at my house, and they don't even use pad Thai noodles but some cross between that and lo mein. The worst part however was that I thought there was no meat in the dish the whole time. By the end I had come to accept the dish as vegetarian only to find out there was some ground chicken lining the base of of the dish. I don't know, but ground chicken on any noodle dish is a let down. That only belongs on a Thai salad. Aside from that, I ordered a pad see eu for my wife, as it is the only dish she eats. While it is not a menu item they did accommodate us, for that which I'm grateful, but the dish itself was severely lacking in flavor, meat, and noodles and they had too many veggies. From just these few dishes I can tell the cuisine here is quite Americanized. While to the average taster the food may be acceptable, for those looking for a more authentic taste look elsewhere. Recently I stumbled across a new restaurant, Asian deli in Walpole, check them out, they have the best Thai in the area.

Yellow Tofu Curry with Brown Rice. The BEST thai meal I have eaten since moving away from Brown Sugar in Boston. Thai Thani adds so many vegetables to the curry. The curry is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. I cannot get over the amazing price either! A must go to Norwood Thai restaurant. I will be back!

Stopped in for take-out based on the good reviews. This is a spot not to be missed. Yellow curry tofu was excellent-- substantial portion and very fresh. The soft rolls were unbelievably good-- two to an order-- huge, freshest ingredients. Amazing!

Not sure I would go back. Coming from Boston Thai food this was just average. And very spicey compared to other places. Pad Thai was fishy. Curry was average. Good chicken satay but mediocre everything else.

I've only been to Thai Thani once a few weeks ago, but it was a fantastic experience. I ordered the Golden Triangles as an appetizer and the Basil Pad Thai for dinner. My girlfriend and I split this meal, and both dishes were delicious and flavorful. My friend ordered the Red Curry, and when she left town, she left her leftovers. It was so delicious. I'll definitely be back!

Great food but take out is always very busy on the weekends. I have ordered before, was told 20 minutes and when I show up I'm still waiting another 15 in a very small space (standing room only). I still give it 5 stars because the staff is friendly and the food is delicious.

We've been to so many Thai restaurants in the greater Boston area and after more than 5 years, we keep migrating back to Thai Thani. Such consistently good food. Monica and her husband and chef Pat are such nice and accommodating people.

The reviews are totally and completely right about this place. Probably some of the best thai food i've had in a really long time. We ordered the following: Golden Cups (based on reading the reviews on yelp... had to get them!) Chicken Steamed Dumplings Basil Pad Thai Pineapple Fried Rice Thai Hot Tea Each was delicious! We're going back next week! Plus the woman who own's the place is adorable.

Best Thai food in the area... by far! Total hole in the wall kind of place that people would usually never just walk up and try but once you do you're hooked! The basil pad thai is the best! Massiman curry is awesome too!

I grew up in the norwood area but live in quincy now...but will still drive to norwood to eat Thai! Very small set up but the BEST thai....there are a few other places close by too but this is HANDS down the best!!!! The lady that works the counter is very sweet too :)

  • Rosalind D.

This place was a disappointment. Starting with the incredibly small menu, a thai place with only 4 noodle dish options? I made the leap of faith and assumed with so few to choose from, they must be awesome. I assumed wrong. The thai iced tea was good, but that is a powder, so i guess it would be difficult to ruin. The golden triangles appetizer was good, and the dipping sauce provided for it was really good with fresh red onion an cucumbers in it, a little sweet, a little savory, but this was the peak of the meal. the traditional pad thai was crappy. Decent flavor, but terrible noodles. As someone else described "Im not sure what exactly was wrong with them" But there is something wrong, I'm not even positive they were rice noodles, it may have been overcooked italian spaghetti. Next time i will just make the trek to brookline for dok bua, which is really a thai treat :)

Oh Thai Thani. Hands down my favorite Thai take out place in the State. The family is amazing, and I have had the privilege of going to a few parties at their house and the food they make at home is even better!! They sweeten up the taste a bit for american palets, but at home its unbearably hot and the most delicious food I have had out of Thailand. Get take out here and be happy we have such amazing Thai food out in the suburbs. A true gem.

  • Sarah K.

We've only been once, but I have to say, they have a great vegetarian selection, and if my fiancee liked variety we'd definitely go there more often (he's become obsessed with the pineapple fried rice at Thai Boo, so we've been going there more.) Also, I am allergic to gluten, and they handled that really well. The lady who took care of us knew what needed to be left out(if anything) from each dish, and told me which they could do that day, due to what had already been prepped and what was done purely from fresh ingredients. Anyway, I'd happily eat here again, or take family or friends.

This place was fantastic! My parents live around here and I was looking for something different to try. My mother and I went and sat down, a very small restaurant with only about 10 tables but the wait staff was great! Had the basil pad thai, chicken satay, and Tom Yum Goong soup. All seriously delicious. A definite repeat visit coming soon.

We tried this place out when we were trying to find local Thai places. I had the Pik Pow with chicken. It was the perfect amount of spicy, although the company with me thought it was too spicy. We will definitely come back!

  • S K.

Perhaps I'm missing something here because what I ate and saw did not match the stellar reviews given to Thai Thani. Several people and I went to the place based solely on the Yelp reviews. The place was tiny and is probably more geared towards take out than an eat in spot. I ordered the Pik Khing w/ beef dish and the others ordered the Chicken and Shrimp Pad Thai. The Pik Khing was overly salty and just didn't satisfy my appetite. The others left hungry and asking where is the chicken and shrimp? They were hungry because their plate came in full and pretty much left full. Apparently something just wasn't right with the noodle and was missing one or more ingredients/flavors. I would have asked for another dish but they didn't want to offend the restaurant. Too bad because leaving full dishes pretty much mean the same thing... I personally would not give this restaurant a second try. I've had Siam Lotus before on Rt 1 and I recall it being much better.

There is more hype around this place than there was for Kim K.'s wedding!! As you might know, I love Thai food, but I am not a fan of Thai Thani. To be fair, I have only eaten here once. My dinner included Thai rolls, Steamed Dumplings and the Basil Pad Thai. The steamed dumplings were awful. They got hard really quickly as they cooled and that was just no fun. I consider myself to be a Basil Pad Thai expert and again, this was just not that good. There was something wrong with the noodles. I am not sure what it was exactly, but I would guess that it has to do with the lack of freshness. Also, was that ground chicken in the Pad Thai???? Yeah... that doesn't work. The Thai rolls were awesome, I just wish the order came with more than 4. Mostly because it was the only thing I liked. The restaurant itself is small, but not charming or inviting. It is actually the type of place that screams, "We specialize in Take-Out". Don't plan to eat there.

Been to this place twice in existence. I love to support the small, local, family owned places... plus I simply LOVE Thai food. Call me a snob, but the food is just ok, sad to say. Ordered the golden cup appetizer because it was raved about. Very small deep fried cups filled with minced meat & spices... were pretty tasty but nothing more. Also got tired of them quickly. One or two were enough. Kinda left you feeling a bit greasy and unsettled. Had the basil pad Thai for lunch. Found it both overly oily and sweet with a boatload of veggies. Didn't quite care for the overall flavor. It wasn't bad, just not great. I really did not care for the tons of carrots in the dish. First, authentic pad Thai does not put huge pieces of carrots in pad Thai. Secondly, Thai food is about BALANCE. Overloaded with veggies and not enough spice umph... just too sweet and oily. The comments may seem harsher than my 3 star rating, but the I think 3-stars is quite fair. Its decent, but I have had much better Thai food. Siam Lotus in Norwood blows this place out of the water.

I am not a fan of Thai food, yet I am a regular. This food is fresh, hot, with perfectly paired ingredients. My favorite is the pineapple fried rice (comes with chicken and shrimp...I hold the curry powder). So good! Friendly and fast service as well.

Great Thai food in Norwood- who knew?! The place is very small and it's a bit cramped but you can get take out. The decor is nothing special but like everyone has been saying, the food is very good. It's a family-run place and the people who run it are sweet and attentive. All of their food is fresh and made well. I love the veggie and shrimp tempura- it's one of my favorite things on the menu. The food never takes long to get it and it's always hot and fresh. The Thai iced tea is also a winner and prices are affordable.

This was the WORST Thai food I have ever had. I wish I could give this place negative stars. Seriously the worst. I actually returned the food (take out) , this stuff smelled like rancid urine, and the guy said "it's supposed to taste like that". Trust me nothing should taste like that !

Small and cozy with a comfortable atmosphere. We sat in the back the first time we went on a busy Friday night and ordered some Green Curry and Chicken pad Thai. We loved it so much we went back on Monday for some Yellow Curry and Cruncy noodles. Love this place and love their Thai Iced Tea. Also try the golden cups appetizer, tasty stuff! Found their menu here: thaithani.us

The food here is great. My favorite is the Basil Chicken and the Spicy Fish. The place is small, but very neat (I saw it recognized by the town for its cleanliness). Th staff is great, the lady who runs it is very friendly. We go there for lunch and dinners and never had any complaints with the food or anything else for that matter.

You want fairly authentic, family-made, good Thai food in the greater suburbs of Boston, this place is it! We were greeted by a girl no older then 5 when we came in the door. I think there were 3 generations of family working there. It's a small but very cozy location, clean and light. We were not dining in, but several couples came in to dine right after we entered. We picked up a take-out order of 8 entreés, 5 appetizers and steamed rice that was prepared in less than 30 minutes. Everything was packaged thoughtfully, including an appetizer meant to be served in pastry shells that had a separate container for the contents and neatly arranged dry shells. There were no spills and no mess for such a large order. Our appetizer of choice was the Golden Cup. This mixture of ground chicken, onion, corn, carrot, and green peas in a light curry sauce was served in a crispy shell. I could have eaten the filling as an entreé it was so delicious. The Golden Triangles came in a light, slightly spicy sauce and were also quite tasty. The sauce that came with the Vegetable Tempura was both sweet and spicy, and complimented the portion of vegetables well. For curries, we tried the Massaman Curry with chicken, and the Vegetarian Yellow Curry. I only tasted the Massaman, and it was moderately spicy in a way that stayed with you throughout the meal, but didn't grow in intensity. The flavor was full, sweet and complex, partly due to the onions, peppers, and pineapple cooked with it. The Basil Pad Thai was one of my favorites. The only improvement that I could imagine is to have the noodles full, not broken up, and maybe to add some bean sprouts in the mix. It was also moderately spicy and seasoned perfectly. The House Fried Rice was easily within expectations, and though it didn't dazzle, it's probably only because it had some tough acts to follow. For around $100, we managed to feed 9 adults and 2 young children, with almost half of everything remaining. Next time we're back in town, I really want to try this place for a sit-down meal.

Small and tight, but the food was fresh and tasty.Reasonable prices and decent sized portion. My friend enjoyed the Basil Pad Thai, and I had the Prik Khing. It's listed as very hot, but it could have been hotter and just as enjoyable. I also had the chicken Tom Yum, which was pretty standard. For the price, this was a good call...

I don't usually mind cramped corners, but this was extreme - my two friends were sandwiched against the window (unable to get out unless I move and we move the entire table) and I had to sit with my abdomen almost touching the table to not bump the person behind me. I was excited b/c this place had 5 yelp stars and my friends heard it was awesome. The summer rolls were above average and generously filled. The pad Thai was average. Their green curry really only warrants one rather than the three chili peppers they list but it was tasty and the best of the things we had. I'd say the food warrants 3.5 stars, but it was hard to enjoy the food when I was being Heimliched by the table.

1 in the afternoon on a Monday. Myself and four of my game developer buddies walk in. The place is packed, which isn't difficult as there are only seven tables and it seats 25. We wait for what seems like an eternity, but really is only 30 seconds. Another table of people, coincidentally from the same game development company recognize us (well, my companions), and get up to leave, as if by some secret arrangement. I begin to sweat, thinking that this is a plot. A plot to kill the voice-over guy. Who is me. I am the voice-over guy. We sit. Small talk ensues about chickens, the NFL, and World of Warcraft stealing gameplay from Asheron's Call. The threads are so unconnected that they wind into a single strand of disjointed yet fluid conversation. One of the owners delivers menus. "Can you handle hot foods?" my longest-acquainted buddy asks. My terse reply comes Hemingway-esque. "Yes." "Get the spicy fish." Chicken talk resumes. And then the youngest one speaks up. "I'm not sure I can do this. I grew up being forced to eat things." Conversation abruptly ceases. The woman to his left looks at him as if he were turning into Jeff Goldblum in the 2nd half of The Fly. Far from being sympathetic, the rest of the table berates this boy unmercifully for not only lacking a sense of adventure, but also a palate and perhaps a penis. He reluctantly orders fried chicken wings. No one bothers to tell him that, being in an Asian restaurant, they may be dove wings or crow wings, or were currently being cut off of the chickens out back that had just had their necks rung. The rest of us look at each other knowingly, and order exotic, flavorful dishes with vegetables, peppers, sauces and noodles. He'll never know, and then we will watch him slowly turn purple after he's eaten them and we tell him what he's ingested. I order the spicy fish. The fish is not something tasteless, like tilapia...the tofu of fish. Nor is it something foreign, like blowfish or sperm whale or Patagonia bonefish. No, this is something familiar yet bold, a fish with enough flavor to cut through the sweet and the hot and the crunchy. My mouth is exploding with flavor. I wish I had a Thai beer, but alas, Asians in Norwood MA apparently do not imbibe. We determine it is haddock. Later that night, when I meet with another long-time game developer from another company, I mention to him this place, this Thai Thani. "Oh, Dude. That place is awesome." This is the man who developed Asheron's Call. He has recently given up eating chicken. We discuss the Patriots and the Colts. He, too has eaten at the Thai Thani. We have come full circle, and I believe Thai Thani to be responsible. As I look into the night Massachusetts sky, I realize that Thai Thani is in control, and I am merely a passenger on this journey. Yeah, it was that good.

I am one of those people who loves an underdog - as long as the underdog serves good food. Thai Thani has never disappointed me. Their menu is fairly basic Thai and does not have some of the gourmet touches as the also-excellent Siam Lotus does, but what they do, they do well. Monica always greets me by name with a warm smile and I know she truly appreciates my business. They are also very flexible with making changes to how your dish is prepared if you have any special requests ingredient-wise or want the spiciness changed. Agreed with everyone who thinks it's shoebox-small, but whether take-out or eat-in the place is worth your while.

Absolutely the best Thai I've had. The Golden Cups were incredible. Silver Soup was so tasty. Can't wait to come back up to the Boston area just so we can eat here again.

This place is definitely a hole in the wall. If you're expecting roomy, fancy, candle lit lunch/dinner type than this isn't for you. This place is absolutely cozy and not enough room to stand. But the food.... Delish. If you come during lunch, might as well share a table if you could else you'll be waiting for awhile. I'd like to come before or after lunch where it's not as busy. Or order take out. I love coming during lunch hour, since they give you a complimentary soup just to hold your hunger until the real thing comes out. The food, the texture, the ambiance.... perfect!! I've been here almost every other week for lunch! It's the best Thai Restaurant around Norwood, Ma. No doubt!!

GOOD FOOD. I am vegetarian and its hard to find good vegie food at other asian restaurants but this one has amazing taste. Would love to go again and again. This is best Thai place in Norwood area.

Oh how I miss Thai Thani. Really. I miss it. The owners are sweet and delightful... oh how mad i am that I forget the name of the wonderful woman behind the counter. Also, there is a guy, I think his name is Doug that owns the antique shop next door (and i think the building) and sometimes he waits tables there just because he likes them and not really for money. Oh.. but let's not waste our time on the wonderful service or the cute little location... no.. let's talk about the food. Oh, the food. They have bar none the best Tom Yum soup I've ever had. Some of my other favs are tofu in garlic sauce and chicken in red curry sauce.. but really, I've never eaten a thing in this place that wasn't delightful. If you live in the area, try Thai Thani.

You should go here. I thought I didn't like Thai food much. And I'm always kind of hesitant and resistant when someone suggests going out for Thai. And it kind of looks like it's in a tiny, depressing strip mall. But damn.

This is a very good place! Appetizers are missing some taste, but the pad thai is very good. I will definitely go back again!

I am a tough Thai restaurant critic...but this place is awesome. The restaurant is the size of a closet, but the service and food are so amazing! If you love Thai, you will love Thai Thani.

Just read all of the great reviews, and don't have anything else to add except that my wife and I agree w/ everything. We get take-out from T.T. every 3 weeks or so. Usually the spring rolls, Basil Pad Thai and a curry dish. Sometimes we mix-in some other appetizer. Then I'll get a couple more lunches from the leftovers. The food is just so consistently, wonderfully delicious. The hostess/cashier/owner is so nice. The prices are reasonable. And it's one mile from my house.

I have lived in Norwood my entire life, but never knew about this place until today, thanks to Yelp. Thankfully, it is about a 5 minute walk from my apartment!! I already excited to go back and bring friends. Just got back from my first lunch there with my friend Michelle. She loved her Golden Cups and I am already thinking about finishing off my delicious leftover Basil Pad Thai. Apart from the cute atmosphere and the music, it smells AMAZING. I craved dessert the second we got there. Is it possible that I'm in a better mood too, having eaten there? GO!!! you won't regret it! *edit: Try the Thai Iced Coffee. I would swap out my Starbucks lattes for this... yes, even the seasonal ones in the red cups.

Great food. Love this place when I get the food and the prices are reasonable. The biggest Con is the wait for when you pick it up. They will say 30 minutes and I have gotten there 40 min later and my food was not even started. The food is great but they need to fix their pick-up system as you can always bet there will be a bunch of people waiting for their food on top of the 4 people that try to eat in their closed quarters.

This is a hole-in-the-wall tiny mom and pop Thai restaurant--as others have said. I tried the yellow chicken curry. It was excellent with recognizable vegetables and a homemade taste. Much better food than any of the Boston Thai places I have tried.

Never expected NY style Thai food in MA...at least not in Norwood. I give this place two huge thumbs up. Not a great place to sit down and eat, but a great take out option. Very friendly owner and has a 'ganesha' statue which I was surprised to see! :)

I wish I could go here more. I wish I could go every day. Thai Thani's food is consistently delicious, the restaurant is scrupulously clean, the staff is always smiling. Every so often I stop by and pick up lunch -- usually pad thai or red curry chicken, thai rolls or tom kah gai. Because these dishes are so good (even after sitting for several minutes on the way back to my office) I've had the courage to branch out from the old standbys and try new dishes, and I've always enjoyed them. One of these days I'll have the time to actually stop and sit down for lunch or dinner here. I actually dream about it.

This restaurant is awesome! It's a small family owned place- much like a hole in the wall. I always order the Basil Pad Thai and the Vegetable rolls- so Yummy! I love how it's such a small place, while you are waiting for your food you can see into the kitchen and watch the chef work diligently on your meal.

Thai Thani is a small joint with big flavor. When I mean small ts about 4.5 tables, but this kichen cranks out quality fresh food. I like the soft rolls, satay, and dumplings to start. Its a great variety and they do them all very well. Entrees are good in size and taste. I always get a curry my fav is the massaman curry. Its always nice and spicy that way I like it. If your passing through def try this spot out.

Best place for Thai food in Norwood hands down!! It's a hidden gem on the outskirts of the downtown square that you've probably driven by several times and never noticed before. I've tried the red curry and yellow curry, both are spicy just the way I like it. The Thani wings are good if you like to try something familiar in an unfamiliar restaurant, it's the dipping sauce that showcases the Thai flavor. Try the Tod Mon appetizer, it is a fish cake but doesn't have an overpowering fish taste and the chunky sweet and sour sauce that comes with it is one-of-a-kind. If you don't like spicy food try the pineapple fried rice, or the ginger or cashew combination dish. For dessert there is an old lady that speaks very little English that makes all of them hand-made and you must pay in cash. Thai Thani also services take-out so if you don't want to eat-in you can call in an order. MMMMM mmmmm good!

Fantastic food doled out in HUGE portions at rock bottom prices in a albeit tiny corner shop. My girlfriend and I shared an appetizer. I had a soup and Iced tea. We each ordered main dishes, which neither of us could possibly consume in one sitting. The bill was $28. My vegetarian pad Thai was delicious and her seafood pad Thai was swimming with jumbo shrimp, crab, scallop and squid. Completely worth the cramped quarters.

Probably the best Thai restaurant in the greater Boston area. I have checked out several other highly rated restaurants in the Boston area. It has beaten all these places hands down. I have been going to Thai Thani for nearly a decade and have never been disappointed. It's an awesome place. However it's a bit cramped and hence not suitable for big parties. Else I would have given it 5 stars.

We decided to try this place when we moved into town nearly eight years ago - it's been in the regular rotation since. There are several Thai places in town but Thai Thani bests them all. The food is consistently great, very light and heats up well for leftovers. Recommend the chicken masaman curry and ginger tofu. Excellent!!

  • Elle Z.

Ughhh I loved this place, until I ordered the green curry. What I got smelled alot like barnyard waste (seriously, it was like rotted hay) and We couldn't even eat it, it went straight into the waste bin. I'm giving it three stars because of a few good things: the chicken & basil noodles, and appetizers (golden triangles!) that were awesome, I think we'll try this place again, but I doubt I'll ever get a curry here again. Noodles, yes, anything fried, double yes...Curry, no.

over the years a lot of places change, get new owners or close but Thai Thani is not one of those places! We have been going here since they first opened and have gotten to know the owner Monica very well and she knows our orders very well, reminding us if we forget something like Thai Iced Tea and our girls love going to pickup the food since sometimes they see her daughter there too. We always try to get something new from time to time and have never found a dish we didn't love, even the mango sticky rice for dessert is a favorite of ours and we look forward to times she has it as it is a special (I think she is picky on the mangos because they are always perfectly sweet when she has it!) Oh and sometimes she has these crunchy rice snack/dessert that her mom makes, look for them in clear bags by the register, they are soo good!!

My husband told me that the owner used to cook for the emperor in Thailand. After eating there, I believe it. I wouldn't suggest it's a good place for a group of ppl. since the entire restaurant could most likely only accommodate about 15 people max, but it's a great place if you wanted a small, intimate date. Also, best.pad.thai.ever.

Great little Thai restaurant right off of Route 1 in Norwood. The owners are very sweet and have remembered my eating preferences since the very first time I was there! That, combined with the great food and good prices makes for a wonderful experience for sure! Located just outside of Norwood center on Washington St, Thai Thani offers a relatively small-ish menu for a quick and easy lunch! I say small-ish because most Thai restaurants I've been to have at least a hundred items and they actually can be quite daunting sometimes! Thankfully, every dish Thai Thani offers is well explained and the chefs will even accommodate special requests such as duck for my Basil Pad Thai, yum!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant. Its so quaint and the owner/waitress is so adorable. Ask her what her favority item on the menu is and she'll tell you one of the curry dishes, and she says it with such love (her husband is the cook!). The prices are so good and the portions are massive, you can easily make 3 meals out of a single dish. My favorite itmes are the Soft Rolls (appetizer) and Uncle Pard Curry

This is my favorite thai restaurant. The Tom Yom soup makes me feel like I am back in Thailand. The only bad is I wish the place were bigger and that they had a bigger menu. BTW my favorite dish is the duck choo chee.

This is Thai food at its best. It's a very small place (can sit may be 15 people) and there's only one server, but despite all that, I'm giving it 5 stars for the exceptional food and service. Everything I've tried is better than any other place and portions are quite generous as well. I usually don't like Pad Thai because it's too sweet most of the time, but their version is just perfect. All curries are very flavorful with good mix of meat and vegetables. I love the curry flavor in their pineapple fried rice. It supplements sweetness of pineapple very well. Oh, the appetizers are very good as well. I really like Golden Triangles as well as the rolls.

We just moved back into Norwood and were looking for a new place to go. Everytime I use this site for a search Thai Thani is the first place to pop up. Very little place, so don't try and bring a large group there. The food was fantastic. Every ingredient was as fresh as you can get. We started off with the Soft Rolls and some Tom Yum Soup. The Soft Rolls were very crisp and flavorful and the peanut sauce was the perfect compliment. The broth on the soup was very good, but I would have liked more vegetables. We got three dishes for the main course: Tofu Pad Thai (my fiancee doesn't like spicy), Basil Chicken and Green Curry Chicken. The flavors and the portion sizes on all three dishes were perfect. More than enough to share and sitll enough to take home. Overall I can't find anything really wrong with Thai Thani and will recommend it to anybody that I know!

Thai Thani is Norwood's greatest treasure. My husband and I actually stumbled upon it after reading such favorable Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. You'll walk in and be surprised at how small the joint is. Don't let that deter you, it's worth the curry. Haven't tried the pad thai yet, but we have tried the yellow and red curries- Delicious!

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the Boston area. I have been coming to Thai Thani for 7 years. The basil pad thai is amazing. It's a completely different flavor from regular pad thai which I usually don't like. The curries are really good as well, and they have brown rice. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the high quality. My only knock is that once in a while the regular waitress isn't there and it's tough to get customizations.

I was not very impressed with this Thai Food. I got the Pad Thai, with chicken and shrimp - The portion was fine for the price, but I thought it to be a bit dry and bland. I might go back but I would defiantly look for a different place before I do.

This is one of the finest, if cramped, restaurants in the Norwood area. It's small, and while that's a bit of a drawback if you really want to get in and it's full, it's worth the wait. Monica's food is excellent. This is the best of the Thai places anywhere near Norwood. For an extra treat, for those who may not have tried them: The Golden Cups are the magical secret item that most people don't know about, and is far more worth its weight in gold.

Absolutely one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to. Basil pad thai and shrimp green curry are 2 of the best dishes that we repeatedy order in addition to wings for appetizer. Virtually everything on the menu is fantastic including the complimentary chicken noodle soup that comes with meals. The degree of spiciness is also just right, if you're accustomed to spicy foods and authenticity; if not, ask for less spice or none at all. The quality of the food plus the prices give this restaurant the highest rating without question. It rivals all the other Thai restaurants around the area as well as the many other Thai restaurants we've been to across the country (and beats Mekong in Honolulu for those Thai food afficionados).

Mom and Pop shop Thai food! :) It's literally a family restaurant. It's a good place to bring the family and it's run by at least two generations of the owner's family at a time. My family has been eating here long enough to even see new additions to the owner's family arrive. The food is beyond delicious and the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and cozy...if you can get a seat in their small dining room. The food tastes just as good at your own table or on a couch watching a movie with friends. The pad thai is good, a little sweet, but still damn tasty. My vegetarian friend loves their options for noodles soups, but almost always gets their Golden Triangles. I, on the other hand, find their dishes with meat rather tasty. The house duck is my go-to dish and my mom usually alternates between different curries. My favorite snack: deep friend tofu, but exchange the sweet and sour sauce for the peanut sauce. The mango and sticky rice dessert isn't for everyone[my mother and I, after much debate, think that the main ingredient in the sauce is condensed milk] but I find it addictingly tasty.

This place is the best! The food is amazing (i've had the BEST EVER tofu yellow curry and vegetable fried rice). There are a few bigger, fancier thai places in norwood but this oneis a thousand times better. Actually I'd say its the best thai food I've ever had...There i said it. Oh, I miss Thai Thani so!

Awesome Thai restaurant in Norwood. Norwood might be the best kept secret when it comes to restaurants. It is a small restaurant so be prepared. We started with the Golden Cups. These are awesome. I recommend trying these. My wife got the classic Basil Pad Thai with Chicken. I got the Yellow Curry with Chicken. Both were great meals. Can easily get 2 meals out of the food. Can not wait to go back and try other things.

I'm really surprised that a place with such positive reviews on Yelp could be so unbelievable awful. My girlfriend and I tried lunch there recently. This is what we ordered: Tom Yum Vegetable Soup - The broth was overwhelmingly sweet and sour, probably due to too much tamarind. Whenever tom yum is bad, it tastes like this. They probably get it in a can. Deep Fried Triangles Stuffed w/ Vegetables - This was okay. Phi Khing Combo with Tofu - A mass of baby corn, bamboo shoots and broccoli sitting in a pool of a dark reddish soy sauce derivative. If I had been served this dish without knowing I was in a restaurant claiming to serve Thai, I would have sworn this was just Chinese fast food stir-fry. They actually piled a lot of food onto a really small plate - they don't skimp, I have to give them that - but it made it pretty difficult to eat. Vegetable Pad Thai - My girlfriend got this and regretted it. The noodles looked very suspiciously like egg noodles, not the rice noodles that one expects in a pad thai. They were drowning in a sauce that looked and tasted a lot like the sauce used in the Phi Khing combo (see above). The service was quite good. However, I would not recommend this to anyone. Stay away from this Thai-Thanic.

first of all being a typical guy I really don't notice a lot of little things - but the bathroom was so clean - so for me to notice that is something - now when a restaurant cares that much about their bathroom you know you've gone to the right place - also they have no condiments on the table - which I love because it means that you don't need them - the chefs will season everything just fine - now on to the food - unreal - the golden cups are a must - also ask the owner ( Monica ) for recommendations - she is sooo nice - I told my wife finding a place like this you almost don't want to tell anyone - but this place is amazing - do yourself a favor and go - it is worth the drive from anywhere -

I am suprised no one from Norwood has ever written a review for this smalland fine Thai place. Very Friendlly Staff with excellent service. I work down teh street in Westwood so very convininet for takeouts or sitin. The seating is very limited so for lunch its an hit or miss. Dinner time its not so bad excpt for friday nights. Try the Spicy bamboo combination dish with white rice.My Personal Fav due to Veggie Limitations is Veggie Pad Thai which Spicy Sauce, Crushed peanuts and vinegar and green chillies During Lunch soup is included. It has tons of veggie selction and they will also take out egg if you request and make it spicy according to taste. yummmy. Over all price is very reasonable lunch $ 8 and dinner $10-12. I try the Veggie Spring rools with sweet and sour sauce for appetizers very nice and crispy. No Liquor licence but its more than compensated but various drinks. look out on the wall for Days specials. If you are on Rt 1 car shopping or anything else I would highly recommend. Last thing its very clean.
