Yep, it's a theater and a cafe. I didn't have the pleasure of eating here, but did take in a show. I love! the fact that there is a small bar area right outside the theater area. You can order a cocktail or beer and take it into the movie and enjoy it! How fantastic! I know these days, movies are made all high definition and all that stuff, but I really, really enjoyed that fact that the movie we went and saw was on reels. Meaning you could see the scratchy lines and cigarette burns in the upper corner. I loved it. It was a smaller theater room and smaller screen, but to me, it added to the charm and good feeling I got being there.

What a cool idea! Dinner and a movie while barely moving! The theater is actually inside the restaurant, and if you eat dinner there, you can reserve your seats in the theater with masking tape. Dinner was NOT popcorn and Twizzlers. We started off with a bowl of clam chowder (of course!) and an awesome salad with strawberries and fried goat cheese. That's right, fried goat cheese. Yum. I had some awesome carnitas with spicy corn salsa and avocado. After dinner, we sauntered over to the bar to get our pre-movie drink on. Only it didn't have to be our pre-movie drink, because you can bring your drinks into the theater! So we headed to Grand Union to buy some snacks (sneaky!), came back and got a during-movie drink too. The theater is tiny, so get there early if you can't have dinner there. It filled up in no time, and since it's an old school theater with no stadium seating, it gets cozy. It's also old-fashioned reel cinema, and all the pitfalls that can come with it. The first try, we had no sound. The second try, the projectionist put on the wrong movie. There was a gigantic moth perched on the screen throughout the whole film. But when you're half in the bag, who cares? The crowd was really into it, young, old, tipsy, sober alike. Definitely a memorable experience. Lots of fun!

Hate to do it, the waitress was so nice, but the food here was actually terrible. I have no idea of the theater experience but do not eat here.

It's a theater AND a cafe! Eat lunch or dinner here and then they'll ask if you want to see the movie as well. The food is fine, nothing spectacular, and they have a nice little patio, it's very relaxing if you're hungover. None of their staff has been rude to me (yet), a rarity on the island and something that nets them bonus points. The movie theater itself is currently the island's only movie theater. And it's not so much a theater as it is a separate room...only a curtain separates the dining area from the theater. The screen is small, the sound isn't very good and there aren't very many seats. But whatever - it's the only place to catch a movie on the island and they sell alcohol, so you drink a beer, cocktail or whatever while you watch the movie. They do tend to play family friendly movies here, understandably, so if you want violence you'll just have to go back to the mainland, you sicko.

I'm a sucker for unique theaters and this one takes the cake. As a restaurant and movie theater, Starlight maximizes the potential of 'dinner and a movie.' The restaurant seats about 30, and has fairly good service. I got the chowder and the scallops. The chowder, which is award-winning, is appropriately praised. Perfectly creamy, with huge chunks of clams and fresh potatoes, this might be the best chowder on island, but that's a bold fucking statement. I'm a little torn on the scallops. First off, there were only four, and there were sea scallops, which are a larger, but less tender and less flavorful shellfish. I'm not quite sure why a nantucket restaurant wouldn't serve nantucket bay scallops, since there the some of the most celebrated shellfish around the globe. However, the accoutrement was phenomenal. A lentil, walnut and homegrown cranberry salad with a light dijon vinaigrette, was so flavorful I could eat it all day. Normally, if you're just seeing a movie (the theatre holds about 90) you have to wait in line outside for about an hour to guarantee a spot. However, if you eat dinner you can reserve as many seats as you want, thus our continual patronage. We saw the Hangover. It was awesome. BLOOD BROTHERS. PS they got a sweet bar, and you can bring as many drinks as you want into the bar. DRUNK AND HIGH MOVIES FTW

Pretty good food; best part is the quirky cinema, always popular with the off-beat visitors to Nantucket, more crowded since the prolonged absence of the Dreamland.

Review is for the Saturday evening live entertainment... I didn't get the entertainers name but he also playing at this place last year. What a voice! Everyone looked hypnotized by this man. Worth stopping in for a drink. No drink service you have to go to the bar.

I was here on the 4th of July with friends listening to live music on the porch. I ordered a beer and noticed it tasted funny. I looked at the bottom of the can and the Born on date was May of 2009. It was over 14 months old. When I mentioned to the bartender he said "so its still a beer". Another gentleman heard me and looked at his can and complained as well. In addition I saw a woman complaining about her food at a nearby table. Needless to say I suggest you spend your money elsewhere. I would not recommend this to anyone!! Rude bartender and stale beer are not a good mix!!!!
