Was shopping at Shaws when I decided to stop in for some take-out. While the restaurant décor gave me some concern, the food is pretty good. The flavorful lo mein is not the standard round egg noodle, but more flat and not too greasy. I got the dinner plate general gau's with pork fried rice and added crab rangoons. While my son enjoyed the generous portion of fried rice, husband liked the creaminess of the rangoons, and the chicken was tender, it did not taste like general gau's chicken and there was bit too much batter. The boneless spareribs were tasty and lean, not fatty at all. We would order again if we're near the area. They do not take AMEX.

never had a bad meal here. the lunch specials are where its at. so cheap so much food. old school chinese cooking. lo mein is always loaded with veggies. quick easy. i have nothing bad to say about this establishment except for the out dated decor but who gives a crap really. the only other thing is that it is family owned so sometimes they open way later than their opening time and you'll be calling an hour after they were suppose to open. sometimes the older lady messes up your order...but god love her. shes like 90

I have been getting takeout from here on and off for the past several months, the food is better quality than other Chinese places in the area and for a better price.

First discovered this place as a teen 20+ years ago. Still stopping by now and then with my own kids. Good food, good service, self-serve soft drinks from the cooler. Most people just grab take out, so if you eat inside, it's pretty empty. The food is cheap, but yummy. I've always stuck to the appetizer type offerings: egg rolls (nice celery flavor in the filling with a little pork), crab rangoons (not much crab but 2.99 for 10 pieces and light and crispy), hubby loves the wings, the pork spareribs aren't fatty at all, beef teriyaki is tender and flavorful. Also, when I've been in a hurry heading home from work, I pick up a rotisserie chicken from Shaws next door, and call in a large steamed rice for $1.95. Easy. The fried rice is good, but skimpy on meat and veg. They will sell you a bag of fortune cookies for 50 cents. If you're craving Chinese or just have to feed a group and you're on a budget- I definitely recommend.

My husband always threatened me that he wanted to go here for the 2.99 crab ragoon; tonight I caved. We ordered Peking raviolis, veggie lo mien, spare ribs, and crab ragoons. Everything was excellent!!! Clean tasting, good veggies with a flat noodle made the lo mien a favorite. The raviolis and ragoons were perfect. The spare ribs were really tasty and not too fatty. We are still satisfied a few hours later and don't have an MSG hangover.

so i've been going to this place for years and have been amazed every time. I bring all my friends here and now if anyone wants chinese, we drive a half hour to this restaurant and we bring more and more people. the food is dirt cheap and tastes better than anything any expensive chinese place has ever produced. the food takes a little longer to get but it is made fresh and brought out as soon as it is done. the portions are huge the food is all made correctly. i was shocked to see general gau's made right, chicken in a batter shell with the sauce poured over it not sitting in it and soaking all day. the fried food is done perfect and does not feel greasy at all. the workers are a very nice family and i even like there drink selection system of "grab what you want from the fridge last time we went myself and 6 others spent roughly 65 dollars before tip and were stuffed and had leftovers... worth every penny

Of all the Chinese food restaurants in town, Golden House has the best Chicken Teriyaki and Lo Mein which is why I come. Probably the worst fried rice in town. The beef teriyaki is the equivalent of beef jerky. The rest of their menu is average though in comparison. The restaurant is deceivingly big considering from the outside it looks like just a shack. The wait area constantly looking like its in the middle of renovations. The wait staff is very nice. There is a decent wait usually though to get your order unless you call ahead. Parking is limited unless you take advantage of the medical center lot next door.

I have been there a few times for take out. It actually has room inside for seating though. Anyway the food is decent quality and price. The beef brocolli did have very little beef. But overall the place is not bad.

Got tricked by these 4 star reviews. First thing you notice from outside is that a few letters from their sign are missing which gives the already rundown-looking place an even more ghetto feeling. When you walk inside you get that old musty country house smell which is not very appetizing, and the lady who works there looks and acts extremely tired which gives the place an overall very depressing atmosphere. Our party ordered the pepper chicken, spicy chicken and misha misha chicken, and I swear all 3 dishes were exactly the same except one had some water chestnuts. And none of the dishes were spicy at all and was pretty bland. Someone else ordered the general gaus chicken which was decent but the pork fried rice had at most 3 pieces of pork in it. Only thing good about this place was how cheap the food was, but I wouldn't come back here again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
