I was there 5 days a week this past summer and had a blast! I will be back!! HAHAHA!!!

Worst service I have ever experienced. The waitress was anything but attentitive, friendly and welcoming. She threw soup crackers across the table when serving my clam chowder.. rediculous! I waited 30 minutes for the waitress to bring my bill after finishing my meal. When she did bring my bill, she tossed it on the table and walked away. I wont be returning, nor will I recommend it.

Amazing lobster roll! If you're a glutton like me, almost getting sick from eating too much lobster is like a distant dream. Well, here my dream was fulfilled. Oh and get the raw clams, any of them.

Definitely stop here! While visiting the Cape for a friend's wedding we were directed here to try the lobster roll. On our way through New Seabury we were worried our casual attire would not fit in but to our surprise this was a beachy/Boardwalk type shop with a cute little bar. The manager (Kate?) was phenomenal- super nice and recommended places for us to visit during our stay. We could of hung out there all day - I had a white wine and my fiancé had the Mayflower IPA which paired so well with the huge lobster roll! We absolutely loved it. I was a bit skeptical about the lobster in mayo on a hot dog bun but I am convinced I could have one almost every day. The lobster roll here was massive with a ton of lobster, no filler.

Don't be confused between the original Raw Bar at the Popponeset Marketplace and "The Lure Raw Bar" on the beach. They have nothing to do with each other. The original Raw Bar is famous for its expensive but "best in New England" lobster roll, the Wednesday night Lobster special and other seafood treats. You eat off picnic tables in a fenced off enclosure. It's a Raw Bar after all. The owner's sister restaurant across the path serves mostly fried seafood and is fine with you buying from either place and eating together. He even has no objection if the kids prefer pizza from yet another place in the marketplace. The Lure is a bar on the beach, has music on weekends, poor food (from a very limited menu) but a killer location.

I went there with 12 people for dinner on 8/5 and it was THE WORST dinner I have ever had. Among other things, we ordered four lobsters. My wife's lobster came to the table missing part of its claw. It clearly had an injury that had partially healed, but the nub on the end, which was black looked like rotting meat. Kind of like when you get gangrene. Much of the remaining claw was black and not appetizing at all. We sent it back and it was sent back to us with the disclaimer that there was nothing wrong with the lobster. Well I can count a few things that were wrong; (1) it was MISSING part of its claw, and (2) there was clearly rotting flesh at the end of remaining nub. We sent it back again and once again it was returned to us with the message that they would not serve us anymore food and that the lobster we had to pay for this lobster. I met the manager at the side door and he explained to me that; (1) we were only there for cheap lobsters and (2) he could serve that because it was "cheap lobster night." We got into a heated argument and he told me to "get the F out of his restaurant." I told him that I would not pay for the lobster. What's funny about the accusation that we were only there for there "cheap lobster." Out of 12 of us, only 4 ordered the lobster special. I also guess that it's ok to serve diseased and/or dying lobsters because they are on special. Aside from the lobster incident, it's just a gross place. The table was sticky and they literally are cooking behind the bar. There is no room for a proper kitchen. You can literally see a dank employee restroom from the bar area and it looks like a scene from Saw. Yes the lobster roll was big, but it was also vert expensive at nearly $40. I can go somewhere else and get two $20 lobster rolls and still get a better serving.

Don't go for the ambience, the great service or the cleanliness.... You go why I went, to try the #1 voted lobster roll. For $26.75, it's definitely delicious...and is clearly at least 2 lbs of lobster piled into a non-toasted/non-buttered roll (I always prefer a toasted buttered roll)...so a great value that you need to start eating with a fork to be able to pick it up. But be prepared to get your own water out of the water cooler, to receive slightly rotten limes and lemons in your drinks, to be seated at overly sticky and rotted tables in a fenced in outdoor area (no indoor seating other than the bar if raining), and to receive less than enjoyable service from servers that seem rather annoyed to still be working this late in the season. Lesson learned? Call in take out and order your lobster rolls TO GO.

Every place with a lob roll advertises as "Voted The Best" or "The Biggest" lob roll in Mass/Cape/[insert town]. This one happens to actually get my vote for biggest AND best on the Cape, based on my limited experience of four different places I had lob rolls throughout Cape Cod. It's very out of the way, but worth the drive. Stop by Cupcake Charlie's on your way back to highway 6, you'll be glad to did, although you may not have room after the colossal and delicious roll.

  • Nancy H.

I think most Cape Cod locals, like myself, will say that this place has THE best lobster rolls around! Yes, you will look at the price and want to walk out, but it is also the biggest lobster roll on cape so it is well worth the price. They have really great chowder, and fried seafood as well. The atmosphere here is also awesome, especially if you come on a night when there is entertainment. Stuffed quahogs are also a must (only $5) and their raw bar items such as oysters and jumbo peeled shrimp were perfection!

Went on today with my wife to try the lobster roll. It was plenty for us to split, and it was absolutely delicious. It was my first time trying one, but I feel like everything after will be a disappointment.

  • Martha O.

Very disappointed... Mostly in the location. The description on Yelp says that they are right on the ocean. The map on Yelp makes it look like it's on the beach. This place is not... It is near the ocean (maybe . 1 mile) but it is a tiny bar with a tiny fenced area with picnic tables. The only view is the fence and the garbage can. It's in a weird little shopping area. Didn't bother with any food. Really wanted oysters, but not for $2.75 each!

Don't go here! False advertising! We went here with the expectation seen in the photos that it was a beautiful place on the water! It is neither of those! Instead we had to walk through shops to find this place squeezed in the back in a seedy bar with very small claustrophobic seating. There is NO VIEW of the water and WORSE, this place was smack dab in the middle of screaming children and teenager land. It was like we were lost in the twilight zone! We left immediately! Don't go here if you want the place in the photos! False advertising!!!!

Best lobster roll on the cape and possibly New England. Always recommend to visitors on the cape.

  • Lomo C.

Five stars, two words: lobster roll. These rolls are the best on the Cape. Paired with a cold beer and you've created for yourself a little slice of heaven. Do NOT come for the ambience; it's not on the water. It's buried in a marketplace ( i.e., jumble of shops) in the New Seabury development.

  • Debby Q.

The raw bar has the best lobster rolls! Many pictures on yelp today are showing them under the Lure Raw bar which is NOT the same place nor affiliated with each other! I go to both places but wouldn't want anyone to think they were going to get that amazing huge lobster roll with an amazing mudslide and be disappointed!! I have written to yelp to correct the error to show it under the Raw bar!!! Here is the website therawbar.com/the-raw-bar . Enjoy 2/16. Noticed the error was fixed glad to see the Raw bar pictures and all the compliments for the awesome lobster rolls and everything else thy have be correct on yelp!! Awesome place awesome people!

The location is confusing to find amongst the beautiful homes at New Seabury, but the marketplace is certainly charming. As someone who enjoys structure, the first come, first serve setup was not ideal. Half of our party wanted food from the raw bar, the other half preferred the more fried/broiled seafood across the way. We were able to order food from there and have it brought over to the outdoor seating area (once we got a table) and the service was very quick, yet the actual raw bar service was much slower. I had the broiled scallops with rice pilaf, the scallops were amazing and plentiful for the price of around $16, but the rice was dried and hard like it had been sitting around for awhile. I tried some of the clam chowder from the raw bar and it was very good, as were the fish and chips from across the way, but the jerk chicken wings from the raw bar had a very funny taste, and my friend's crab cake (one) was dried out and dull.

  • Elizabeth S.

Dirty, rude staff, and overpriced, just blah food. Outside seating on picnic tables is one thing, but when it looks like the tables haven't been wiped down once all summer, that's just gross. Although they're known for having the best lobster rolls on the Cape, it's definitely due to good marketing rather than fact- their lobster rolls are good, but not good enough to warrant the price and (lack of) atmosphere. This place thrives on the tourists who visit because they think that a divey location with a rude owner located in New Seabury must be authentic "Cape Cod." There are too many great choices close by- don't waste your time and dollars here.

    (1)
  • cabrio q.

Very Cape Cod. The lobster rolls are amazing. You have to get one. Huge chucks of fresh lobster in a light mayo dressing. Not over dressed. Don't get the 'hogs' they are awful. When you see them go to other tables you will want one -don't do it. Bar snacks offered upon arrival nice touch for a casual environment. The jerk wings were good too.

Did you ever think you'd spend almost $30 on a single lobster roll? Well you don't have to... Sort of! These beasts are actually perfect for two people. So split 'em unless you're starved. Packed with the meat of prob 4 lobsters, you can eat enough lobster meat to hold you over for a year. I typically favor a toasted, buttery bun, but these were big and soft and fresh and managed to hold the mass of lobster in quite well. It's actually so jam-packed with meat that they supply you with a fork to eat the top layer without risking losing some to the floor or your lap while you eat. The clam chowder was also great and not served too hot so as to burn your tongue. Our order came out to us as we opted for a seat outside in the courtyard. Options for anti-seafood folks are on the menu as well. My brother had a hot dog, my mom had a Qoahog and some chower, and my dad and I shared a lobster roll with fries. Definitely a lovely spot to check out and do some shopping before or after you eat. Sadly it's not the best lobster roll I've ever had, but it's the biggest by far!

Two words - LOBSTER ROLL True Cape experience right down to the patio with shell flooring, rustic feel of good ole Cape Cod. If you find yourself in the New Seabury area of the Cape (Mashpee) and you like lobster The Raw bar is the place to go! hands down

  • Haiku D.

Lobster roll is good, its not really seasoned and bread is as blah as you get but there's a lot of lobster meat. Oysters tasted great, wish they had been shucked better, had to dig out bits and pieces of shells. Wish they 1) had a better wine selection, all were kind of sweet and not that great. Cocktail menu looked great though. 2) had better options for kids. Hot dog and corn on the cob was about it. There were lots of families there, should be worth their while. Service was good. Def worth the visit and hanging out for evening concert.

Great location, right on the beach. Hours of operation are limited, as are the food choices that are available. Great place to go for a drink and the view. Recommend you eat something before you arrive. The owners have a great resource in this location, but are inept on how to best utilize it.

    (2)
  • Amanda J.

Lobster roll is amazing. It is simple and let's the sweet lobster meat shine. One roll easily feeds two. The raw Oysters and Clams were also delicious. I make a point to come every year while vacationing in the Cape.

I went to The Lure today with my wife, my brother, and my brother's girlfriend. I have been to this bar and love its location on the beach and unique space. Tonight the bartender refused to serve my 26 year-old brother because he "was not familiar with this ID." My brother holds a drivers license from the United States that he routinely uses to drive, purchase alcohol, and travel past TSA airport checkpoints. Apparently this is not acceptable to purchase a drink at The Lure. This is not the first time we have experienced poor service at The Lure; however, it may be the last. Do not go here unless you have no other options.

I'm assuming most of you have functioning eyes so you can see the pictures of these lobster rolls, which basically have 3-4 lobsters' worth of meat in 'em and no fillers (light on the mayo, too). My quandry: I *HATE* mayonaise. But these are New England's best lobster rolls. So what's a girl to do? Give the roll a shot, of course. Even for someone who loathes mayo, there's still enough lobster in here and hardly any mayo to make it worth a try. But were I to come back here, which I very well might, I'd just got the Sunday lobster special - $15 for a lobster/corn/slaw. I'd rather wrestle with my meat a bit and get less for half the price than have it covered in goo. But that's me. My colleague described their lobster rolls as "so good" that "you'll need to fly down to Florida just to punch your [infant] nephew in the face, they're that good." So yah - from a lobster roll enthusiast, there's your recommendation. From a lobster fan but not obsessor and a straight-up mayo hater, I say get the straight lobster. But I get that I'm the weird one here. Be prepared: they're slammed so service can come off a little brash but you can tell they're all on their toes working hard - I certainly didn't mind. Also, the mudslides were a bit too strong for me, but if you're a bigger drinker than me (and you probably are), then you'll likely just think it tastes like boozy ice cream. You can get your strawberry or chocolate - I tried both and recommend the latter.

  • Jack M.

OK - lobster roll is very large with large chunks of sweet lobster meat. Nothing else is outstanding and service is surly. Also, a skunk visited the patio several times during our dinner to look for scraps. Apparently the skunk is a regular and ignored by the staff. Then again, the customers are pretty much ignored by the staff.

Came here after a day at the beach and it was delightful! We sat on the patio sipping cold beers and nyam nyam nyaming on the most humongous lobster rolls. People weren't that attentive, but who cares... it's perfect for unwinding and relaxing.

OMG, the best lobster roll ever. Out of the way spot but worth the drive if you are within an hour of this place. I will be back whenever I am in the area.

  • Eric B.

The lobster roll is large but nothing spectacular, the bun it was on was just plane white hot dog bun. The mountain of fries were underdone, not one was crispy. The clam strips were good though.

    (2)
  • John W.

A classic Cape setting with picnic tables and broken clam shells on the floor. The lobster roll that everyone talks about is huge and tasty but is not the best I've ever had and, at $25.95, is probably one of the most expensive. The rest of the menu is rather limited. They have clams and whole lobsters but not much more. Even the hot dogs come by themselves, no chips or fries.

Stayed in mashpee for the weekend. Was lookin for a good lobster roll, everyone recommended "The Raw Bar." We had it the first night, it was good but server was not happy to be there and atmosphere sucked. Went here the second night and they had a live band, it was on the beach, and the lobster roll and clam chowder was awesome. Go here, not "the raw bar."

Not a fan cold fries and bad service. Even roll was dry. Was told did not toast due to food allergies not a real lobster roll a waste of 30 dollars.

Why weren't you here yelp 10 years ago. I would have been the first to go on and tell about the awful, horrible, hideous experience we had here. The experience was so bad, I still talk about it and remember to like yesterday. Drove down to the Raw Bar with a friend and our two toddlers. Both of us at the time were new stay at home moms, it was Summer and we were so excited to take a road trip with our kids and have a fun day of food and adventure. We had no idea what a nightmare this was going to be. We got there, after a long drive and my friend stayed outside with the kids while I went in and ordered. It took forever to make eye contact with a staff member behind the counter/bar. When they finally acknowledged me, I asked for two lobster rolls. No "hi" no nothing accept "yes". I placed my order, and she turned around, went to a fridge and pulled out two ready made lobster rolls. Wrapped in foil and small, like they had been rolled a while ago and had shrunken down, which was the case. I paid "rude girl" and even tipped (former long time restaurant employee...always tip). No "thank you"....nada! Went outside and sat on blanket, took lobster rolls out of the bag and the bag was filled with mayo that was dripping off the wrapped sandwiches. They were drenched and almost water logged. WHAT? What??? $50 bucks for this. I had thought we were going to get two heaping rolls, freshly made, like the pics. I picked up the bag, said 'be right back" and went back in. I waited for the girl who first served me and said "excuse me, blah blah blah.....can we get new rolls. These are dripping and don't seem freshly made". I did this over to the side as well, so no one else had to hear. The poor rude girl couldn't seem to figure out what to do so she said "um, I don't know what to tell you, you'll have to talk to the manager" I said "ok...that's fine". Over comes the manager (who recognized from the Phantom Gourmet, where I first got it in my head to visit the place to begin with). She said "what's wrong" I told her and without saying a word, she went to the cash register, banged it opened and took the money and literally threw the money back at me and said...ready???? "GET OUT" I said "excuse me" What did you just say to me" and she said 'Get out of here. You are not welcome back". Nervous customers at the counter actually started laughing with her, like they were afraid if they didn't, she'd throw them out too. I was so flustered and flabbergasted that I picked up my money and like an idiot, walked out. I was just shocked at how over the top nasty she was that I don't think I had time to react! So there you have it. I have told this story over and over pre Yelp and now it's out there for others. Maybe the service has changed and things are different. Hope so. But if not, you can get great lobster rolls, seafood and service at hundreds of other places on the cape and off! Phew..that felt good!

Drinks and raw bar were both good. Waitstaff was a little slow. Right on the water though, which made for a pretty cool scene. Live music on a Sunday night.

This place made our night! As tourists who had driven the entire cape that day, all we wanted was a lobster roll and we couldn't seem to find anything decent that was open!! After being rejected by several "Closed" signs, we found this place and drove 45 mins to find it. After getting lost a few times and wondering where the heck we were amongst what looked like a deserted summer resort, we found it! The place was packed with locals who had been playing golf all day. We sat on the patio decorated with Halloween spirit and chatted Up the locals. We met the man who makes the "best lobster roll on the cape" as well as a memorable local named Squirrel. The rolls were $25 and massive in size. Wish they told us because neither of us put a dent in our rolls thy were so good. With a beer and a shirt to remember our time, we were out the door $65 later but the experience was worth every penny. Thanks Raw Bar for making some California girls feel welcome!!!

Went here the Saturday after 4th of July weekend with a group of 8 people. As you might assume, it was PACKED and the seating is super limited. We arrived around 8 p.m. hoping it would be easier to get a table off peak time. It still took about 45 minutes, but it was WORTH IT! I got the snow crab cake as an appetizer, which was delicious. You could definitely taste the crab, not just bread crumbs. Then I split the famous lobster roll. This is not for the faint of heart. It's HUGE and full of lobster, as just about everyone else here said. Definitely worth the $25 price tag, especially since you're getting two meals out of it. The area around here is great too, lots of shops and they had a summer concert series while we were there. Definitely enough to keep you enteratined while you and your group wait to pounce on a table.

Our group of 6 came on Friday night at 9pm on memorial wknd. Since it was late already we had no wait. You walk to the back where there are a few picnic tables under the tent. We had lobster rolls, clam chowder and steamers. The lobster roll is huge! Filled w tons of meat. And the chowder is pretty tasty. However- we probably wouldn't want to wait more than 15-20 mins for it thought. Theres a cafe right across from it where u can get the same lobster roll and chowder that raw bar serves--- Incase the wait is really long.

Ahhhhhmazzing. I have NEVER had such a good lobstah roll in my life. I am on the west coast for the summer and am having such an incredible craving for the Popponesset's Raw Bar Lobster Roll... I could almost die. The amount of lobster meat you get in each sandwich is unbelievable - easily 1.25 lbs. Almost no mayonaise. This is one thing I look forward to most - summer on the cape with a lobster roll from the Raw Bar. The only downside is they have limited hours -- seasonal.

Every single time I go to visit my in laws in new seabury we always swing by here for their gigantic lobster rolls. I could never finish one on my own and for my waist size sake will never try. Absolutely fantastic!

I've always heard raving reviews of the Raw Bar, so I was excited to check it out. I'd say I left disappointed. The bar was small, packed, and extremely hot. It's also littered with signs all over the place telling customers that cell phone use is not tolerated. Unfortunately, the message is not conveyed in an appropriate customer-friendly manner. The bottom of all the signs that say no cell phone use are finished with "That means you, IDIOT!" Who ever thought it was a good idea to refer to paying customers as idiots?! Within 5 minutes of being there we saw a waitress go around the outdoor space and tell everyone on cell phones (texting, not talking) that they had to put them away. I can understand not wanting people to be talking on the phone, but the anti-texting stance I just don't understand! What if people are texting friends to show up to the Raw Bar? Or posting a picture on Facebook raving about their current bar experience? Or are researching an item on the menu with their phone? We got two stuffed quahogs... Mine was OK, but my brother's was overcooked... The whole thing was rock hard. Never knew you could overcook a stuffed quahog... Disappointing. I was looking forward to trying their $25 lobster roll prior to this visit... but I will venture elsewhere for a lobster roll after this experience!

I agree with all of the reviews. The lobster roll is very very good. We also had some raw oysters. They were Very fresh and tasted great. Clam chowder was good but not great. But as I looked around, everyone had the lobster roll. Also enjoyed the "Cape Cod" feel on the outside patio. But don't forget your wallet, not cheap.

"Amaze-balls!" We literally drove over an hour, just to come here. The shops surrounding this place are very "cape cod" and super cute. The lobster roll is huge! The littlenecks on the halfshell were definitely over priced, but the for the amount of lobster you get on this roll, it is definitely worth the 25 dollars. It was a little confusing to navigate the restaurant, but they have large picnic tables in the back and you basically join other people at a table wherever there's room- so if your shy (like myself) it might be slightly uncomfortable to just walk up to a table and sit down. Luckily, there was an empty table, so I was able to avoid the awkwardness. The service was quick, there were signs everywhere to not use your cell phone- but I was googling some things on my phone and no one stopped me, so I don't really know how strict that rule is. Overall, would definitely come here again.

Great place after the beach at night. Leave the car home home and stumble down Shore Drive in pitch black. Try a cherry bomb! Their hoodie got me in trouble at work.......

I visited the venue over the weekend and in my opinion the 3 star rating is pretty much all it deserves. The cellphone complaint might not be valid anymore as it wasn't a problem for me over the weekend. That said when the place is rowdy it's near impossible to talk on your phone. I can understand the attempt to implement the policy because the inside is pretty small so you are close... Now.. the important stuff... THE FOOD... Firstly, on sunday they have an all day dinner special. The weekend was 1 lobster for $15 - not a bad deal, but I didn't try that. I went for the famous lobster roll. In my opinion it appears that people confuse taste with size. Yes the roll is HUGE ( mine was shared between 2 ppl ), but I must admit I have had tastier. I was fortunate not to experience any shells in my serving as noted by some reviewers. That said, I keep coming back to taste... it was OK, and worth a try but definitely NOT the best tasting ever, not even close!!! I also had the barnstable oysters. It was only the variety available, I'm not too sure if this was a one off or they don't carry more. I would give these a skip if you are true oyster lover. There isn't anything wrong with the freshness but it wasn't the best flavour in my opinion. This is no reflection the venue but rather comment on the oyster variety. Lastly, my exchanges with the wait staff was extremely pleasant. They were attentive and polite ( although my initial request for glass of water was forgotten, but the beer arrived promptly ). So overall if you are in the area and fancy some lobster give it a shot, but no real need to go out of your way to get there....

Ok so here is the deal on this place. 1.)BEST lobster roll around, hands down!!! Enough to share at $25 2.) Not a place for children. This place is a party. This place is an "experience". Not fine dining, not family friendly, constant amounts of F-bombs and levels of undress may be observed. However... 3.)They believe in family, so they opened a "family friendly" version called Bobs Seafood Cafe and is right across the quhog path. A better option for kids or for takeout and they still have the famos lobster rolls. 4.) The service. Now being in the "industry" I am quite perticular, but let it be said, the level of service is part of the "experience". Think of yourself as a guest at a Cookout/keg party at a neighbors house. If they offered you a margarita and it didnt have a salted rim, would you ask to remake it?? No you would take it and go on enjoying "the party". Listen all of the food is served on paper and plastic and served to you on family seating style picnic tables. Just relax and dont ask for, lemon in your water, salted rim, the wine list (although they do have a decent selection) or where to sit. There are no frills here!!! The staff is friendly and obvious professionals, but also VERY, VERY busy hosting this shindig. Get your act together when you order- order off the menu and dont get creative. If you are a fast drinker then order two drinks at a time. Again, relax and enjoy the EXPERIENCE!!! 5.) Other things that are cool. Mudslides, Rum Punch, $2 cherry bombs and the obvious RAW BAR of chilled shellfish!!! So, is this a not to be missed place, yes. Is it for date night or family dinner? No. Brings your flip flops and your friends and enjoy. Also to be noted, there is also a sister restauront in Hyannis- not such a social party, different atmosphere being on the harbor, but same idea:same owner. There is a Falmouth Raw bar with is no affiliation, just a knock off, not sure how that works, but dont be fooled. The REAL Raw Bar is in Mashpee. In a vacation area called New Seabury in a shopping plaza called Poppinesset. Maybe confusing to get to. Put in Shore Drive Mashpee Ma. ps Grab a few extra bucks and buy yourself a t-shirt. You will regret it if you dont. :o)

Huge lobster rolls and strong drinks, these are the reasons to go here. The place also has a good laid back no frills atmosphere. I see a lot of people complaining about the no cell phone policy, cell phones didn't exist when this place opened, people went here to drink and have a good time. I wish more places took a firm stance on "no phones" as the Raw Bar does.

1st, Pricey but you totally get what you pay for. The lobster roll is huge, enough for 2 people and is super delicious and not globbed down with mayo. The darn thing weighs like a pound. Another yelper commented on the bread, well for me... its just a holding vessel and I don't plan on eating it. Who wants bread when there is over a pound of lobster to eat .... duh!! Anyway, the bar here is tiny but the drinks are strong and worth every penny. I made it there for oyster happy hour and downed 1/2 doz super fresh globs of YUM !!! If you are into bloody marys, well get one here, it is fantastic. The bartenders here sure know how to make a DAMN Good drink. Thank GOD I dont get to the Cape more than a few times a year because this place would make me have to get a 2nd job. Indulgence.. YES... worth it .. TOTALLY!

I came here in the summer of 07 and dear lord, the lobstah roll was the best I have ever had. At least 2 pounds of meat - HUGE - no fillers and so fresh. I forced myself to eat the whole thing it was so damn good. This place was ridicuously hard to find, but thankfully I didn't give up or I would have missed the best lobster roll of my life.

One of my favorite hang outs on the cape. Bob is great and he has a good staff of helpful people. It's worth the ride to visit the Raw Bar. therawbar.com .

Best Lobster Roll in Massachusetts. For $27 including tax there is enough for two to share. Buy a empty roll for a $1.00 and you will not regret it. Add lemon and that is all you will need. Make sure you buy from the café for to go orders. Well worth the drive if you are staying on the Cape.

Contrary to popular belief, this may be one of the worst places to go on Cape Cod. Yes, the lobster rolls are huge - they should be for $25. For $25 more, you can get a bucket of sandy steamers...mmm gritty! The lobster rolls didn't taste great and there were shells throughout. If you've been there before, you must know about the strict "no cell phone" policy. People have been kicked out for using their cell phones - even for texting. I know it's annoying to have to listen to other people yack on their phones, but I don't really find texting so offensive that the waitress has to come out and tell you to put your phone away. Besides that - our waitress was rude. I live on the cape and I do not recommend this place to any self-respecting seafood lover.

Well, even though I wasn't a lobster fan, I was for this. This was crazy. This was my first lobster roll, and it did literally ruin the other ones I had on our trip. It's down this small road south of Mashpee; I thought I took the wrong turn because we were heading down what looked to be a private subdivision. But we knew we were in the right place because there was all of a sudden a crowded parking lot in the middle of a small town shopping plaza. Ambiance: whatever, it's a bar. It was way too crowded, so we actually took it back to the place we stayed at. We could have sat somewhere, but the weather was turning cool already so that's ok. They are pretty much known for their gigantic lobster roll. Now, I didn't know what gigantic was, but literally it was like someone overfilled a french roll to the gills with probably 2/3 chunks of lobster, 1/3 pieces (so probably not lobster) and some tasty mayo-sauce. When we took it back, I decided to push the overflowing lobster onto some bread we had already; that took up another two slices of bread. But yeah that was good. Tasty and filling. Lobster pieces were all good, nothing weird or crunchy or anything odd. You aren't going to find anything like that in CA, on the west coast, or probably anywhere outside of New England. A little pricey ($25) but that's ok. That was pretty sweet.

I went here based on other comments I had read (the funny thing was I saw some of the negative comments and thought it would be worth a shot anyway). I was not disappointed by the Lobster Roll, but I was a bit shocked by the $25 price tag. After looking up several other Lobster Roll locations and their reviews I'm pretty sure I could have gotten the same quality at half the cost. However, it was tasty. The restaurant is tiny (good luck fitting more than 10-12 in the bar area, 5 if your wanting comfort) and the patio is nice, but surrounded by trees, which was surprising since I was under the impression it was closer to the coast. The staff seemed nice at first but as the meal went on the little attention we received at first disappeared completely. She took our order then practically plopped our food in front of us when it came out. We didn't see her again until our bill came, and she didn't even seem happy about that moment. Outside is a little bigger, but not by much. Decent atmosphere except that the table next to us was chain smoking (legal?). They also have a very strict policy on no cell phones out on the patio. We didn't mind this until my fiances alarm went off, she took about 5 seconds to turn it off. As soon as she pulled out her phone one of the "bouncers" (a big guy in a dolphin shirt... seriously, one of those tacky shirts from a road stand) yelled across the patio for her to turn it off (rudely) then made fun of us as he passed by a couple of the other tables. We were not alone in this, he yelled at another table as well. On top of everything else, the little area it's in (good luck finding it) was swarmed with tweens who were popping those annoying pop firecrackers, blocking all walkways, and being general little snots. I'm a high school teacher and I love working with that age group, but it was just too much that night. Simply put, not worth it. Good lobster, but you'll find the same quality elsewhere for cheaper. Don't waste your time or your money. I never will again.

Quite literally one of the worst experiences I've had on cape... And I'm a local. There were shells in the lobster rolls, a generator going outside the seating area that made it tough to hear conversation, and they overcharged us on the drinks. When we asked for a manager, one of the rudest men I've ever come across came to our table. He didn't let us tell him what was wrong, threw a phone number at us for the noise and walked away. I stopped by the bar to personally thank him for ruining my mothers' day lunch. Food was mediocre at best. You are on cape cod... Go somewhere else for the same money, better food, and get treated like a person. Absolutely never going back.

First place I ever tried raw oysters - September of 2003. Amen to that! Lobster rolls are enormous and delicious. Righteous outdoor seating area with picnic benches and a bar. Wow. I am craving summer after writing this one....

The lobster rolls here are usually as good as everyone is raving about. HUGE - chunky, etc. However, this year (July 2011), the rolls themselves were smaller and thus not as much lobster. Plus the lobster wasn't as chunky. It was more of a fine lobster salad. I'm hoping this was due to how busy they have been and thus we got the bottom of the bucket. Would love to hear others comments. I've been going here for years, so remember, I'm basing on past years.

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a fan of seafood. I'm all about sushi, it's one of my favorite foods in the world, but just straight up seafood? Just not a fan. But last week my cousins were in town from San Diego and they wanted some classic New England seafood. So we headed to Raw Bar. Even if I don't like seafood, if somewhere is boasting "The Best Lobster Rolls In New England!" ...I'm gonna try to lobster roll. The place is located in a little group of shops and restaurants that makes you feel like you're in another world. It's very quaint. The Raw Bar itself is rather small. There are passive-aggressive signs all over the place (inside and outside) that "ask" you not to use your cell phone on the premises. We sat outside in the back where they have lots of patio tables set up. The seating inside is at the bar or on stools facing the window. I ordered a crab cake to start (real snow crab) and it was delicious with a little lemon squeezed on it and some Tabasco sauce drizzled on top (conveniently provided at every table.) Stephanie ordered shrimp and Justin order steamers, which came in a giant bucket (that they let us take home.) We were served by a kid that couldn't have been any older than 12 but he was good at what he did. Justin ordered a full lobster roll and Steph and I decided to split one. It is HUGE. Justin could barely begin to eat his after the steamers, and Steph and I didn't finish either of our halves. There was enough lobster to take home to EASILY make 3 normal sized roll. Reminding you that I don't even like seafood...the rolls are AMAZING. They are $25 but there is SO MUCH lobster. I ate most of mine because it was, in fact, delicious. It was the first lobster roll I had ever had, so I probably will not ever have one elsewhere because it will probably ruin it for me. There was the perfect amount of mayonnaise and the lobster was piled so high it was almost intimidating, but in a good way. I would definitely go back here. Especially because I forgot to bring my ID (I almost forgot my debit card, which would have been worse), so I didn't get to sample any delicious cocktails. I definitely suggest making the drive to Mashpee to get this treat (get there early so you don't hit any Cape traffic during the summer, if you're coming from the Boston area.) Despite the fact that it's the only lobster roll I've ever had....I'd say they've definitely earned the title of the best lobster roll in New England.

Tucked away in a small section of Mashpee Ma Now I'm giving this 5 stars for 1 reason only, The Lobster Roll!!! $25 , but you get 2 1/2 pounds of lobster meat, no fillers piled high, it's truly a share-able experience or be selfish and don't share, heck I wouldn't blame you one bit! IT"S AWESOME!! Now, I did try there crab cakes, pretty bad, which I just didn't get as the Lobster Roll was AWESOME! Just in case you missed it the first time. The rum runners with 151 spiked cherries is a perfect compliment to the beat of a lobster roll. Their only open during the happy months of New England, i.e. closed all winter! So get your groove on and head to Mashpee for some summer fun, enjoy the lobster roll and maybe some old fashioned mini golf at the front of this tiny little shopping hole. Enjoy and Cheers, VO

While I'm not a huge lobster fan, my wife LOVES it. We rent a house in Popponesset from family friends during the summer, and Raw Bar is one of the main reasons. According to my wife, this is the greaest lobster roll she's ever had. Due in part by the fact that every lobster roll looks like it has an entire lobsters worth of meat on it. Every time we go there it's packed. You can look at that two different ways. One, you hate waiting and big crowds, I get it. Two, that many people can't be wrong. If I was forced to complain about something, I guess I would say that there isnt a ton of indoor seating, and when it's packed, it's packed. That said, I don't care about the crowd. I welcome it. It's part of the atmosphere and I wouldn't trade it for anything. If you like seafood and don't mind a bunch of other people (mostly on vacation, like you, or at their summer house) then you better get yourself a lobster roll from Raw Bar. Except, of course, if you don't like lobster, like me. FYI, you can also get the Raw Bar lobster roll next door, at Bobs Seafood Cafe. The food and atmoshpere are equally as great at Bobs.

I was originally going to give a 3 star rating, but Yelp's description for 2 stars - "Meh. I've experienced better." - convinced me to use that, instead. Seriously, this place is "meh" - no reservations, seat yourself at our dirty sticky picnic tables after an *hour* wait just to get a seat, plan on dinner taking a long time because there's only ONE person waiting on 40+ people ... Anyway, we decided to try this place out for dinner last night because some locals said this place had "the best lobster roll and clam chowder, ever." I'll say this: they lobster roll portion was large, definitely enough for two or three people to share, and the clam chowder was very tasty. Was the lobster roll worth $25? Considering that the boat price of lobster continues to decline (it's less than $3/pound) ... the mark-up on those lobster rolls is *huge* ... Overall, if you really love lobster, save your money and hit an all-you-can-eat lobster buffet and skip this place. You're not coming for the service, decor or low price ... and the food isn't "best of" anything ... what they lack in quality they try to make up for in quantity, but given the high prices, you aren't actually getting a deal. So, what's the point?

The Raw Bar is in the Popponesset Marketplace, across the street from the Popponesset Inn. The lobster roll is justly famous. At $23, it's expensive but large enough for two people. The only lobster roll I've found comparable is at the Chart Room in West Falmouth. In late summer and fall, this one can be ordered with huge slices of beefsteak tomato instead of the usual Portuguese sweetbread. In recent years, the Raw Bar has offered reduced price twin boiled lobster on Wednesday nights, an even better reason to visit. Owner Barbados Bob has responded to the extreme popularity of his lobster roll by offering it at his wine bar, a more refined, less garrulous establishment across the crushed quahog shell path from the bar.

I was really excited to come here, having read the reviews and getting a recommendation. So I went, ate the lobster roll and clam chowder, and was underwhelmed. As some other reviewers have noted - it is hard to find. It's in this weird shopping plaza (with a stage for kid-friendly performers). Once we found it, we were told to seat ourselves. There weren't any free seats, so someone finally told us that people share tables. Fine with me, but that would've been nice to know before I wandered around like an idiot, saying "there's nowhere to sit." The lobster roll is big and has tons of meat. It was tasty, but another reviewer said it is kind of plain, and I'd have to agree. The clam chowder was good, though didn't seem to have a lot of actual clam. Oh, and would you like water? Go get it yourself. It's a brilliant business plan - charge $25 for a lobster roll, hire unenthusiastic wait staff, and make your patrons seat themselves - very cost effective, I'm sure. There wasn't anything bad about the experience, but I just didn't see what all the fuss was about.

we hit the Mashpee location May or was it June?? Good solid massive roll big enough to share. Today went to the Hyannis/Ocean St. location. 27 for a roll big enough for two and 4.50 per cup of hot potato laden chowder with some clams too. Decent chowder..fun spot, views galore.

On the reviews found here we decided to try out Raw Bar for their Lobster Roll and Chowder. WOW! Everything was as described here, "HUGE" lobster role, super fresh, no fillers, light mayo, and a great fresh roll. The Chowder was simply outstanding! We did take-out but it looked like a fun place to have a drink, right on the harbor.

YUMMY! The lobster rolls are worth the price. I did share. You won't be disappointed. These rolls are fully loaded and definitely minimally twice the size or stuffed twice as full as any other lobster rolls I have had.

The food at this place is really awesome. You got to try the lobster roll but they also have some nice appetizers (stuffed quahogs, clam chowder, etc.). The lobster roll was huge and so good. The meat is great, you can definitely split it with 2 people. The staff was very friendly which is very surprising given the environment (full of richhhhh people), they even advised us to only order one roll for two. The atmosphere is very laid back, you even get to share tables with strangers (the palce is so small, there is no other choice). The only drawback is the location, why don't they say that they are located INSIDE the market place? My GPS was acting crazy and we were about to give up... Good thing we asked somebody for help as a last resort!

hard to find. got lost. expected a larger, more formal place. should've read more than the 1st couple reviews. hot, tiny, NOT kid friendly. NOT friendly at all. the 2 bouncers outside were the happiest employees there. did I mention it's hot in there? and really crowded once it fills with 10-15 people. so, claustrophobic too. $15.75 for half dozen little necks?! and, they came warm. and I was told that the place my kids were dining in-a cafe directly across from the bar-had the cocktail sauce. after waiting nearly 30 minutes for what i was told would be "it'll be ready in a few!" thanks! NOT! Next time I'll spend a few more minutes online before making that trip to the middle of nowhere to get crappy service, meh food, and no atmosphere.

    (1)
  • Parker H.

Yes, the lobster rolls are good, at the price, as would be expected. However, I find them a little plain and not worth the wait and suffering through the indifferent service. If you are in the area, fine place for lunch, but certainly not worth a trip.

Have been going for years--best lobster roll ever! You will never find a better one. Tons of tender juicy lobster and not too much mayo. Just perfect and worth every penny. At least twice the size of lobster rolls you get at other places. In fact I don't get lobster rolls anyplace else now. And you can run across and grab an order of fries if you want some. Good friend and BIG order. Love the Raw Bar!

Great for it's kind! Lobster roll is outstanding!! Broiled lobster at night is delicious, but bring bug spray! Outdoor dining on picnic tables is wonderful for kids and messy lobster. But this Mosquitos are killer at night. Small and very active bar!

Went there because I was told about their renound lobster rolls. The three of us went to the back outside eating area, which was now covered with a tent due to the later season. Just a bunch of picknick tables, a little worn down, set atop crushed stones and shells. Waitress was a bit rude and unattentive. The guys got the lobeter rolls without even blinking an eye while I decided on getting some raw oysters and littlenecks. My boyfriend asked for a second fork so I could try the roll. The rolls were amazing. I swear, there must have been about 3 whold lobsters in them. Perfectly seasoned with mayo ontop of a light roll. The oysters were big and had no shell particles in them, which I usually run into. It was a rare opportunity since the place is in the middle of a rttzy community. drinks were rediculously small, two sips for each wine. Oh, by the way, no cell phone use is allowed at all there. Price was very high too. Total bill came to over $120.

Great place if you're a local and enjoy big crowds of douche jammed into a small area. The owner is a jerk who thinks his shit doesn't stink...hopefully he gets the new kidney and it comes with some perspective on life.

  • Andrew P.

There aren't too many things that I eat with drinks in plastic cups that are worth $25, but the lobster rolls at the Raw Bar certainly are. As long as you are not feeling totally glutonous, two people can split a lobster roll and some oysters and be content. The rum punch also good and packs a punch. Bonus... they have outdoor seating.

    (4)
  • P. G.

It is a genuine joke how good the lobster rolls are at The Raw Bar. They are HUGE, and are essentially just lobster and a small amount of mayo. No fillers, you just get an enormous amount of fresh lobster. Last summer they were $23 each, which may seem expensive, but you get your money's worth here, it's a solid value. The Raw Bar can be difficult to find, so you're probably best off going with someone who has been there before (or get really thorough directions). The scene is fun and can be a bit on the rowdier side than much of the area, plenty of beers and wines available as well as specialty cocktails and such. Bob the owner is always around and is friendly and insistent about quality lobster rolls. This place is tough to beat and must be tried at least once...

    (5)

Best lobster roll ever... fat, meaty serving NOT drenched in mayo. Their chowder is really good and so are their oysters and shrimp. You really can't go wrong unless you're allergic to seafood.

  • Melissa W.

Love it love it love it. A $25 lobster roll that cannot be eaten by one person unless said person has a serious eating disorder. And not only is the roll large, it's done PERFECTLY...tons of meat, very little mayo, and no frills. That's all I've ever had there, but while sitting at the bar on my most recent visit, I had the pleasure of watching the owner shuck oysters for a patron while my mouth watered. If you want a lobster roll, this is definitely the place to go (and I'm from Maine, so this is a compliment of the highest variety).

I was not impressed with the decor as I entered the marketplace. It appeared snobby and quaint, but the good looking women and old tyme candy store lightened my mood immediately. The bar was packed as the sky grew grey and we grabbed an open picnic table on the back patio. My friend told me the lobster rolls were 25$ and I almost laughed, but then I saw it.... excalibur. It was the most scrumptious and powerful lobster roll I had ever laid eyes on. It was love at first sight. A sub roll over flowing with dank meat. Our waitress was very pleasant and humerous while taking our drink and app orders and gave us more bar snacks than i have ever seen. They drinks were strong and delicious and the littlenecks and oysters were ocean fresh. Then came the lobster rolls. I saw at least six whole claws and severl chunks of tail and body meat. I ravenously devoured it like a hostage and still only killed half. I was amazed. There must be 3 whole lobbies in there with absolutely no filler. Amazing, Exceptional and Unbelievable. One for the record books.

If you are looking for the best lobster roll you have ever had in your life, I recommend that you go to the Raw Bar. I am one of those who love to have lobster when it comes to a special occasion however since I have gone to the Raw Bar, just any old lobster does not cut the mustard. I would rather travel the distance to go to the Raw Bar and do it once a year and make it extra special. What is also nice is that is situated amongst a very cozy atmosphere with people who have traveled throughout New England and have come from far and wide to experience Cape Cod. It really adds to the experience because you get to feel like a tourist, even if you are not one. You will spend greater than $20 for your lobster roll but is worth it because you get practically 3/4 to 1 lb of lobster meat in the lobster roll and you could practically purchase 2 lobsters and work twice as hard to get that amount of lobster for more money. Even better, they do not drown it in mayonaise! It is all around the best!

High quality lobster and lots of it but NOT a #1. I am a lobster roll freak who has tasted his way through the Hamptons and up along the Maine coast. While traveling recently I googled up best lobster rolls while in Mashpee Mass and I stopped by The Raw Bar to give it a try. Cool location in a classic New England looking group of restaurants and shops in a somewhat exclusive area near the Popponesset Inn and related communities. Beautiful communities right on the beach. Small but gem of a reproduction beach bar with picnic tables outside. Ordered up a lobster roll right away. Out came a magnificent lobster roll with an absolutely mountain of chunky perfectly cooked meat. Enjoyable but definitely needs a recipe tweaking. The flavor was a touch bland without a hint of celery salt or celery, parsley, lemon or black pepper in the mixture. I did squeeze a bit of lemon on it which eased the eating chore a bit. Given the quality and quantity of the lobster meat is so close being the best lobster roll on the planet but zero chance unless they can at the very least offer those accoutrements on the side.

I went here for dinner with my family. We were planning to sit outside since the patio had a water view but it was really windy that day. We ended up sitting inside where the bar was. The boiled lobster was super meaty and the Monster lobster roll was literally a monster. There was so much lobsters meat in the sandwich. It was definitely worth it but I think this would be good for two people because I definitely wouldn't be able to finish it on my own. I ordered the burger and clam chowder. Their burger was nothing special. I wished it came with some vegetable such as lettuce and tomato. Their clam chowder was a bit too salty so I only took a few sip. Definitely come back for the monster lobster roll.

GREAT lobster roll! So good! We went there specifically because they advertise it as "no fillers" no celery, etc. It was very good, very little mayonnaise, which made it seem not as rich. The chowder was ok, not the best I had, could've been seasoned a little better, but the clam pieces were decent sized, which is something I look for in a good chowder.

Unfortunately, sometimes success breeds all the wrong attributes for the fortuitous ownership. I'd define it by using the terms of success having gone to one's head or as success has made someone way way too big for their britches. We just spent 4 days in Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. One of our pre-trip missions included re-visiting The Raw Bar as we had 3 great meals there last year. We also intended on visiting other establishments that have a reputation for serving the best indigenous to New England seafood. Specifically, we were after lobster, lobster rolls, fried belly clams and chowder. Our first visit was to Sesuit Harbor Cafe in Dennis. We also visited the Quarterdeck in Falmouth as well as Arnold's Clam Shack in Eastham. In between Quarterdeck and Arnold's, we visited The Raw Bar for the last time. Certainly, you now know, where this review is headed, but please understand clearly that I'm as objective as anyone you know and therefore, I call "em as I see em." I was at the bar when I witnessed Bob, the owner as well as one of the waitstaff totally dressing down a woman who went in there to get take-out lobster rolls, which The Raw Bar is acclaimed for. I have never ever witnessed such distasteful and repugnant behavior by a proprietor of any establishment toward a paying customer. It made me cringe to hear Bob literally yell at this woman. This uncalled for display of poor demeanor was so off base that I immediately decided to leave the bar and promise that not only will I never return there but I will make sure to tell anyone I know as well as anyone I can touch via a public review that The Raw Bar should be off limits to them. Why should someone pay their hard earned money to an establishment where the ownership and help show no regard for their clientele? I bring the other three establishments up so as to eliminate any concern anyone should have of not being able to find a great lobster roll or other New England seafood. Sesuit Harbor Cafe had absolutely delicious lobster rolls and fried belly clams. The Quarterdeck served an extremely tasty lobster sandwich on the best Portuguese bread. Arnold's had hot or cold regular or jumbo lobster rolls, the best fried belly clam and fried scallops I've ever tasted, succulent steamers, the best stuffed Quahog on Cape Cod and fresh and delicious raw clams and oysters. I bring all these other places up for two reasons. They all blew away The Raw Bar's lobster roll as the lobster meat was incredibly fresh tasting vs what comes across as lobster meat that may have at one time been frozen. They are also presented with a much more culinary attention having been paid to the bread and/or lobster salad. And, the real treat is that along with the superior lobster roll and other fried seafood selections at these other establishments, these alternates come with proprietors that show respect and appreciation to their clientele even though they are extremely crowded at lunch and dinner. I could not be happier that I've found other worlds away better options to The Raw Bar and it's disrespectful and unappreciative ownership and staff because otherwise I'd go without some of my favorite foods vs ever patronizing them again.

I do not think that I need to reiterate that the lobster roll is delicious and huge. But I want to emphasize as a result of bad reviews, that this very hidden haunt is a great time, met some lovely Popponset neighbors and he was kind enough to give us the low-down. Grabbed a seat at the bar and had the quintessential of Cape Cod nights, with Sam summer, oysters and a split lobster roll. Make sure you have GPS and some patience, but it is well worth the effort.

Best lobster roll ever... fat, meaty serving NOT drenched in mayo. Their chowder is really good and so are their oysters and shrimp. You really can't go wrong unless you're allergic to seafood.

If you know lobster, you know this is lobster at its fresh, scrumptious best. People come from near and far to find the Raw Bar for a reason - lobster indulgence and appreciation! Once you find the Raw Bar, there is limited bar seating inside and a fenced patio section outside which lends itself to community seating (picnic tables). Eat, drink, be merry and be social. The Raw Bar prepares a full lobster roll with all of the best parts of the crustacean. It also offers a "recession version", or half of the same lobster roll for 2/3 the price of a full one, and well worth it. The menu also offers fresh steamers, fried full belly clams and perfectly good but not as memorable options as well. Again, you have to be familiar with the offerings to know this is seafood at its freshest. Expect casual, expect friendly, expect to drink. Cheers!

    (4)
  • V O.

  • Dossy S.

Amazing lobster roll! If you're a glutton like me, almost getting sick from eating too much lobster is like a distant dream. Well, here my dream was fulfilled. Oh and get the raw clams, any of them.

  • Meg M.

Two words - LOBSTER ROLL True Cape experience right down to the patio with shell flooring, rustic feel of good ole Cape Cod. If you find yourself in the New Seabury area of the Cape (Mashpee) and you like lobster The Raw bar is the place to go! hands down

Not a fan cold fries and bad service. Even roll was dry. Was told did not toast due to food allergies not a real lobster roll a waste of 30 dollars.

  • Dorise G.

The lobster roll is large but nothing spectacular, the bun it was on was just plane white hot dog bun. The mountain of fries were underdone, not one was crispy. The clam strips were good though.

I went back and had a completely different experience. Friendly staff, no unfriendly signs in sight, and VERY good lobster rolls. Casual and perfect for a not-too-hot-day lunch treat. We bought two lobster rolls and you really could get one for two people. We'll be back.

Pretty good little spot. Robster roll had a ton of lobster meat in it. It is served cold - FYI. Overall, good experience.

YES... worth it .. TOTALLY!
