I've been here a few times and this place has always delivered a wonderful evening with excellently cooked food and beautiful views of the sound. It's defiantly one of my favorites for fine dining on the cape.

A few friends and I went to dinner here last evening and everything was perfect! The food was excellent and the service was outstanding! Our waitress was so friendly and nice and when she brought the bill she made sure to tell us that the gratuity was already added on. Most wait staff won't come out and tell you that. We gave her an extra tip for going over and above! We'll definitely be back!

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to! I am always eager to visit the Popponesset Inn Restaurant every time I travel down to Cape Cod. The food is fantastic and the service is great! I suggest either the filet mignon or the prime rib, both are delicious. The menu is a bit pricy at the restaurant so be prepared for a larger bill at the end of your meal. Also, if you make a reservation don't think that you may be able to sneak in early, because most likely they will make you wait until it is your time to sit down. However, besides this it is a fabulous restaurant and the food will never disappoint you.

Had great dish last night. Cajan rubbed striped bass with mango salsa. Yum! Hubby had fried seafood platter that was good also. Calamari app just right for splitting with perfect amount of peppers. Great in the bar for people watching...wedding parties.

Needless to say the waterfront view was hard to beat. We made reservations and had a great table near the window. The food - Started with an interesting app. The Hazelnut Prawns were med. shrimp at best! Four small shrimp I'm guessing 21-25 ct. and for $14 buck is was good, but no value. The Caesar Salad was all lettuce with almost non of the bland dressing applied. The Veal Chop and Fresh Fish Special was amazingly good!, it saved the night. This was followed up by a very commercial chocolate soufflé. The service - The service was just ok. The staff was very young and lacked experience.

I went for a lovely lunch here and LOVED it. The service was excellent and the food was great. The prices were a surprise. They were much lower than I thought they would be. Well worth it! The view was perfect and the decor just what one would want from Cape Cod.

I can't speak to the food at the Popponesset Inn but the views are breathtaking! It is such a great place to get an afternoon drink. I have been here twice for a drink and both times the bartenders have been really nice and friendly (but not overbearing). My sister and I were able to enjoy some delicious Bloody Marys while taking in the beautiful scenery. It is the perfect nauticul "Cape Cod" thing to do on a beautiful day!

I attended a wedding at "the Poppy" so I'm not privy to the back end of holding an event here but the setting at the Poppy is just lovely. It's the quintessential New England beach wedding venue. As a guest, I can say that the Poppy is a superb place to hold your event but I must also admit, I get the feeling that all that grandeur comes with a steep price tag. The layout is great because while you're under a covered structure, you get the ambiance of being on the beach because you can feel the cool breeze and hear the waves crashing. The grounds are very well maintained and there is plenty of parking. One drawback is that the lovely ocean air can get a little chilly at times in the main reception area. Separate areas/rooms allow your guests to be moved along to different stages of the event such as the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, etc. without feeling like they are in the way of the staff setting up the next portion of the event. The waitstaff all seem to be well seasoned in the Cape Wedding style and operate in a discreet and efficient manner - always offering water refills and quick to pick up a dropped napkin. The food here is definitely one of the best wedding meals I've had and they cater to all sorts of dietary restrictions. I had the Mushroom Ravioli as the vegetarian option and it was great. The mixed field greens salad was simple but tasted fresh and was appropriately dressed. Overall, I definitely enjoyed my time at the Poppy.

Had lunch at the pool. Lobster roll had massive amounts of lobster, but was not seasoned in any way. Fried calamari was ok, stuffed clam with clarified butter was very nice.

If you want to get your money's worth, here is where you get that. 26 dollar lobster roll is massive and delicious. Best lobster roll in New England!

Ate lunch at the Inn on 8/1. Nice water view. The sandwiches were good and decent price. (about $11 for most). I hate that they put an automatic 18% tip on the bill. I should chose the tip amount. Unfortunately like many summer Cape Cod restaurants the staff are inexperienced high school or college students. I don't blame them, I blame the management for not taking time to train them. The server spilled an entire martini on a member of our party. (ok accidents happen.) This was no droplets, it was the entire drink and the side carafe. Her skirt was wet and pocket drenched. She just stood there staring and I had to say "are you going to get a towel?". Waited over 1 hour to get 4 sandwiches. People were getting lunch -coming and going. Finally called the hostess over and said, "as much as we have enjoyed having a drink spilled and waiting and hour for a sandwich - the food needs to be here now or we're leaving." Within 20 seconds it was out of the kitchen telling me it had been sitting there the entire time. (again same server issue.) Had to request the spilled drink be removed from the tab. (server issue) THEN we get the mandatory 18% (stupid because we typically leave 20-25%). Manager never came over, not cool. They should have offered to pay for the dry cleaning. Had the manager even come over to inquire about the situation they would have seen the extent of the stain.

Attended sisters wedding here!! Basically awesome experience! They (couple) rented the cottage adjacent to the venue, a 2 bedroom villa. Very decieving from the outside, the inside was great. Nice light hardwood floors, large living room 2 large bedrooms and a dining room and 3 season porch. The bridesmaids and my sister all got ready there the day of the wedding and it was great! The venue is great for a wedding. The DJ is on a raised area right over the bar, so during the reception it was like we were at a nice club, almost. The wedding party walked down a set of stairs to the ceremony, so it was easy for everyone to see everything. SHARON!!! was the BEST!! When we arrived in the bridal suite, she was our waitress. We, the bridal party, are almost all bartenders and servers, so we really appreciated her ridiculously prompt service. She was "always there" and when we needed something , she was back with it almost faster than it seemed the bartender could prepare the drink. She followed us around during pictures and was equally as fast. One disappointment....I had been looking forward to the raw bar for months, hearing how good it was. I was unhappy when we returned from taking pictures (about an hour) and I found the staff clearing the shellfish etc. away..! I wished they waited a little longer for the wedding party to have their turn. The passed appetizers followed us throughout the pictures etc. and were fabulous!! I highly recommend the lamb chop appetizer and quesidilla...heard the scallops n bacon were good too. All in all we had a fabulous time, even in the rain!! I recommend homeaway.com look under new seabury rentals. We all rented houses less than a mile away from the Inn. Many of the rental houses accomodate 6-10 people, so it was really cheap to stay. We tood turns having cookouts at eachothers "homes" much better than going out to eat..

My fiancé and I are getting married at the Poppy in September of this year and our experience up to this point has been amazing. Our wedding coordinator, Aaron is TOP NOTCH! He has been so helpful - even/especially during those times when we have been not so easy to deal with (can you say "7 people at our food tasting"??)... The staff at the restaurant is great as well, they seem genuinely excited when we tell them that we're getting married there...which we do every time we go for dinner because we are so excited!!! The view is unbeatable, and I can't wait to have our wedding pictures taken in the sunset on the beach! Thanks, Aaron!

Best lobster roll on the Cape. Good bar scene and always crowded. Always enjoy going to the Inn every few weeks.

The Popponesset Inn has been a regular stop in my wife's family for 20 plus years. I was lucky enough to make my first ever visit last Thursday night and experience a piece of family history. The dining room is a classic "Cape Cod family dining spot" that included young kids decked out in Izod's and Sperry Topsiders. The staff's uniform resembled something that one would wear while boating. The menu was seafood heavy but had plenty of selections to accommodate a nonfishy guy like myself. On this night the specials included a Pork tenderloin marinated in coffee grounds which I jumped all over. I (and those who I shared with) loved it. The pork was not overcooked and might have even been a borderline medium rare which I consider perfect. The coffee grounds did not overpower the pork but was enough to give it a nice deep kick. The garlic mashers were nothing special, but did the trick. For dessert, I could not pass up the chocolate sundae. I asked for extra nuts just to tease my wife's Aunt (she is allergic to nuts). It was a huge serving and could have easily been enough for four to share. This is not at all how I grew up, but I appreciated the experience of living like a Kennedy, if only for a few days.

What Happened??? Husband and I went to the bar side last night for something to eat and the service was cold and very uninviting...it was very uncomfortable to try and talk with the servers, especially the bartender Bobby. Our plates were dropped without any mention of "can we get you anything else or how was everything?" I felt like we did something wrong or did they think we were someone else? empty drinks were taken away and without a glance or a mention of "would you like another?". It was weird. The food was great as usual but I don't know if we will return if the same people are attending the bar? It was busy but not more than a steady busy....they seemed well in control. Anyway, we probably will give it another try but will definitely leave if the same bartenders are there.

Made a return trip to the Poppy this past Friday for a post wedding rehearsal event. My wife and I showed up early and grabbed dinner at the restaurant. While I'm not a big shellfish fan, my wife loves lobster and considers this the best lobster on the cape. She had the lobster salad, which is basically a whole lobster cleaned and prepped for you with some salad to boot. The atmosphere is nice and the odds are good that you will be listening to a wedding reception on any given Friday/Saturday night throughout the main season.

I got married at the Poppy Inn in Augst 2011. I loved the simplicity of the location and the focus on the gorgeous water views. What I did not expect was the EXCELLENT service and AMAZING food at the reception. Through out the selection and planning process, Aaron was organized, respectful, funny and always available. We went for our tasting and I wasn't thrilled. Another reviewer has stated that the food isn't great during the tasting and I was really worried that it would be the same on the day of. Aaron created a custom menu, including changing the recipe to the chicken Marsala a bit, excluding any pork or beef products, and adding more appetizers. The food at the reception was fantastic! I was so excited I barely ate, but everything was excellent. I continue to get compliments about the food and look forward to going back. Don't let the casual atmosphere fool you. The place is fantastic which is why it has such a high price tag attached.

My fiance and I checked out the Popponesset Inn in our quest to find a wedding venue on the cape. While I can't speak directly for the wedding food (you are ONLY allowed a tasting after you put down a 6k deposit), the Popponesset Inn restaurant immediately next to the wedding venue was less than fantastic and probably an accurate reflection of what you'd get at a reception. In an attempt to mimic what would be standard wedding fare we ordered the crab cakes, clam chowder, chicken picatta & filet. Everything was very average. Not horrible, but not great either. Crab cakes were good but a bit bready (low on the crab meat) for my tastes. To be fair, I usually don't order crab cakes at restaurants so I can't make a comparison to other places. That said, these were the best part of the meal and I'd consider ordering them again. Lobster chowder was pretty bad. VERY chewy & rubbery, not much flavor, skimpy on the seafood. Stay away from this! Chicken picatta was so-so. Chicken is such a standard staple that it's often overlooked. I'm a firm believer that the quality/attention to the chicken is often a good gauge of the quality of the kitchen and attention to detail of the chef. How many times have you had a mediocre, low quality overcooked rubber chicken? The chicken here was a step above that but nothing to write home about. It reminded me of the chicken dishes at the cheesecake factory (but Cheesecake does a better job). Flat, thin strips of chicken with a standard sauce & some capers thrown in. Not overcooked, which was good. The filet mignon was standard but just not yummy. On the positive side it was cooked exactly to specifications (I ordered medium rare). but it just wasn't a great filet. Edible, yes. To die for? NO. Lacking in flavoring. Would I order it again? Nope, not for the price. I've had much better filets at many other restaurants. The sides were very unmemorable. We skipped dessert. For a price point of $50 per head (including appetizers & wine) I expect cooking to be fabulous. This definitely did not meet the bar. Hopefully, the seafood is better. We will not be back and are sad to say that we'd have some serious concerns about pricey mediocre food if we did have our wedding here. Gorgeous venue though, I was very much in love with the beachy atmosphere in the tent.

Came away very disappointed! We went last night to celebrate our anniversary and both left saying we would not go back for dinner. I had shrimp cocktail as a starter, was just ok, nothing special. My husband had the lamb choo's and said they were ok, not something he would order again. He had scallops for his entree and said they were perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the salmon and it was again just ok, nothing I can't do myself. The biggest disappointment however was the service, it was just terrible. We sat for 15 mins before a waitress came over, she was rushed, apologized, asked for our drink order and asked if we were ready to put the meal order in also. My entree was incorrect, I had asked for no starch and just veg but it came out with rice. We didn't see our waitress again until she brought the check. I was fully prepared to give a 5% tip! as she at least got an order into the kitchen! but the. Heck came with an 18% tip already built in. Very presumptuous on the inns part and doesn't give the staff any incentive to actually provide good service.

We went to the Popponesset Inn for the first time last night. The inside is simple, open, clean and nice with a very Cape Cod like white and blue decor. Large windows give everyone in the restaurant a view of the water. They also have an outdoor deck where you can dine. The menu is pretty standard fare with a mix of seafood + chicken and beef. The clam chowder and scrod were good. So were the scallops and swordfish. One person in our party had the steak and the feedback from him was "stick with the seafood". Overall, I'm happy we went and I will be going back.
