Ok...I am giving Tahana 4 stars...not because of the food particularly, BUT for the overall satisfaction I get out of the place... The food is your typical Chinese dive... The drinks are your typical Chinese watering hole... BUT the staff...that's what makes the place interesting...Defiinitely family owned for the most part...The bartender on Friday and Saturday nights, makes it Tahana...Tahana If you are looking for classy, this is not the place... If you are looking for that last minute stomach filler for food and "last call" for drink...This is the place!!! You will mostly like find me here...being a regular now...On Fridays and/or Saturdays...

Great place for what it is, Chinese american food. Prices are a little unreasonable for what it is, however for the area it seems to be reasonable. You can't beat the hours of it being opened until 1 am every night.

Not your typical Chinese restaurant! this place is old school, and old decor! Love it! You won't find many places like this.. why? because most places are either NEW as in modern looking or fancy shmanshy. This place is your local mom and pops place which has been around for nearly 3 decades. As we sat, water and hot tea were brought to us along with a basket of bread with butter. I forget the last time a Chinese restaurant offered bread and butter. lol so i was a bit surprised but my friend who's Caucasian was even more surprised than I was. The food is very typical of American Chinese so you won't find anything different except it has decent flavor. My favor is the Tofu with mixed veggies - slightly spicy and the Tofu was the bomb!! Also, loved the apps - we tried Befe teriyaki, and boneless ribs. Tahana friend rice was also very good! More on the Chinese traditional style than regular fried rice. We also had Chicken with Broccoli - I specifically requested to be make with a white sauce instead of the typical brown (soy) sauce and easily accommodated! At the end of the meal, a cup of cut pineapple was brought to the table along with fortune cookies. Very nice touch. Owners are very cool and down to earth. Also, plenty of space downstairs for Parties!!!! with a STAGE and dancing floor!! How great is that?! There's also an old style cig dispenser but it does't work. Also a very old juke box that requires records but it also doesn't work. Pretty cool for decor though!

this has been a favorite watering hole of mine since I turned 21. Willie is the man and my husbands new best friend. The atmosphere may leave a little to be desired but they make up for it in tasty drinks. I kinda feel like I am at a star wars bar at Tatooine. (I actually got a fortune cookie from here that said "do or do not there is no try")You get every walk of life in there, the people watching is amazing. The food is ok. I like all the fried stuff. The wings are one of my standard go-to's. Their house fried rice is the best out of the rices they make. (trust me I've tried them all) This is a great place to go to if you are looking for something low key and laid back. I don't think the drink prices have changed in 5 years. Its worth the cocktails alone for the visit.

The Tahana is a bit of a mixed bag. I don't like the restaurant itself, as service is a bit slow, and it's always very quiet. However, the bar is lively, with lots of locals, good drinks, friendly bartenders, and Keno. It's a bit of a late night crowd, so expect some level of rowdiness. The food itself is not bad; I usually grab some Peking raviolis and a Mai Tai or two if there is nothing going on around town. Prices are reasonable as well.

Food is insanely greasy! Didn't like the ambience... May be a good local place to get a beer and watch a ball game! But that's all!

I've been going to Tahana for 15 years. My wife (who is a VERY picky eater) and myself agree that Tahana is consistantly the best American-Chinese food anywhere in the area. The restaurant does not try to be a high-end restaurant. It's menu has all of the dishes I expect from a Chinese restaurant, and I just like their food. I have never gotten sick there.

Yuck. We ate there twice and I got sick both times. We should have known not to buy food there when all of the customers were at the bar, and noone was eating. Stay away.

For a Chinese restaurant, it doens't seem like their main draw is the food... I've been here a few times hoping that things would improve - as if I had just had a unique bad experience.... First, in regards to food, the taste was pretty good. The "aftermath", on the other hand, was not so good (as most cheap Chinese food places go). For the price you get a lot, and their combo selections are fairly expansive, but as I said, the aftermath (cramps, etc. - atleast for me and my roommate) were horrrrible. Aesthetically, the place looks like a converted VFW. Not being from around here, I'm not sure if that's what it might have been at one point or not. No matter though, because it seems like people come here only for the bar - there always seems to be a lot of cars outside of it at night - especially on Pats nights...

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
