I love this place. Always a good meal despite the spartan interior.

$5.50 for a huge burrito you can't beat that! You do have to request cheese in your burrito, however the meat is tender and well seasoned. All of the food is made per order and the wait is no longer than 5 minutes. You should definitely visit this place if you're in the downtown Lynn area.

Tacos Lupita is one of the best authentic mexican places! Their delicious food is definitely due to their tasty slow cooked meats and their super fresh ingredients. I am never disappointed when I go to this place! My one complaint is that it gets rather hot in there. Definitely more of a take out situation.

Food is great, extremely affordable and we'll done. But for about a year now, the same girl that takes your order and brings your food is there. My god, this girl looks like she wants to shoot her self... I mean c'mon! What kind of service is this when she rings me up, is on her phone with her friend talking about "last night", just taps on the cash register screen to let me know how much it is and doesn't say a word? I took a bunch of friends there to eat because I enjoy the food and I recommended the place, its also very close to the beach. Again food is great but the staff... The cashier in particular, the level of frustration was beyond words. I'm not expecting quality from the staff since this is a place where you go for the food and not the atmosphere, is it that hard to say " Hi" or "bye" or a "thank-you"? Horrendous costumer service. There's better option s out there

Being a vegetarian, I was a little hesitant on search for something to eat in the local restaurants in Lynn. The reviews for this place seemed good, so we decided to check it out. The only clear vegetarian option was a burrito, so I went with that. The food was prepared extremely fast, and in a decent portion. The hot sauces on the table were fabulous! It is a great place to grab an authentic meal with so many other Spanish restaurants in the area.

Should've taken the advice here and got the carnitas burrito instead of the steak burrito

I absolutely love this place. Living here in Massachusetts and being from Arizona it is hard to find good Mexican food. I definitely found it! The chorizo burritos are so delicious and they have awesome pupusas as well. Great service and great food. Especially for what you are paying! Highly recommended.

Place is so good....when they decide to answer the phone. If they delivered I would order my steak burrito 5 nights a week. Theres one guy there that is so nice but other than that they're pretty straight forward, not necessarily rude but..meh

My 2 friends and I showed up for lunch yesterday a little after 12 and were seated right away. In contrast to some of the shops on the same street, the inside of the restaurant looks like-new and is well-maintained. If you order a soda, they will serve it to you in a can. I had the chicken tostadas, and they were fresh and delicious. My friends were happy with their choices too. Would return again :).

All the canvassers got a lobster roll lunch at the office and sadly the vegetarian went to forage her own food. Starving, I decided on Tacos Lupita after I saw that amazing veggie burrito photo. I got here and looked at my veggie options...which are limited. I decided against the pupusas since the place didn't specialize in them...so I wasn't sure. Got the veggie burrito. Was indeed fast and $5.35. I was a little unimpressed when I cut it open, but my first bite was actually pretty good. And you know what went through my mind? Wow, this tastes like the Taco Bell I remember from my childhood. And I mean that in the best way possible, which is to say I remember Taco Bell being rather creamy tasting, cheesy and mild, but well salted. I wasn't too impressed with the salsa that came with the burrito, so I used the table hot sauces, which were kind of an alarmingly colored red and green (definitely red and food coloring in them - I read the label). I used the red habanero one, which gave my food the heat I needed. I also appreciated that this place uses legit flour tortillas - supple and thin, not that mission tortilla stuff. Griddled, it's actually very very good. So why just 3 stars? Well, this doesn't blow me away and I always get irked buying a veggie burrito that has...well LESS than the meat ones. Basically, I just got everything you got except the main event. Also, my burrito did not look like that crema sauced craziness pictured in one of the photos. So, yeah, solid food, but the vegetarian wouldn't clamor to come back. Meat eaters may find this place amazing, but I wasn't super impressed. Filled my belly and got me the calories to continue canvassing, but I would prob seek another option for lunch if I ever had to come back to Lynn. Which I hope I don't.

Food here is solid. Spent a day trip at the nearby Lynn Museum and with the added combination of lunch here it made for a great day. Chicken quesadilla was delicious and the chips and salsa were great.

I love their burritos and their homemade nachos with salsa! Always fresh, always quick, and always consistent.

  • Richard H.

This place was highly recommended by a friend of mine, which tells me his judgement is off. I ordered 3 chicken tacos with a side of guac. Tacos were surprisingly bland considering the amount of cilantro they use. Guac is pulverized and consistent, no 'chunks'. While fresh, there are no tomatoes and I couldent taste any lime in this guac. 3 stars for the value, paid about 6.25, which is dirt cheap but I wont be going back.

We come all the way down from Peabody to eat at Tacos Lupita in Lynn. We love their quesadillas, and they cook the way you want to...for me, for example, I dont like beans (believe me or not) and they are very helpful to take off my beans...which is very good comparing to other mexican restaurants that find hard to meet you order.

Tacos Lupita is a good restaurant in a town with lots of GREAT Mexican restaurants. It's very clean and friendly (just a few tables) and their food is fresh and cooked to order. No complaints and I'm glad they're in the neighborhood, i just happen to prefer the food at a couple of other Lynn Mexican restaurants. A good friend of mine loves Tacos Lupita and it's her absolute favorite.

Money goes far here. Not necessarily marathon distance... but at least a 5K. $9 gets you three tacos (choice of chorizo, pork, beef, chicken on corn or flour tortillas) and a side of rice n' beans. I recommend the chorizo! $9 also gets you a belly ache if you eat all of it. Service is pleasant. Some chips and salsa welcome you as you check out the menu. They take credit cards and you can watch some soccer while you nom on the food. When life takes me to Lynn again, I'll come back.

I am a fan..I was not impressed en I initallt walked in based on the decor which had me skeptical and apprehensive since I am frm TX and love food in general..however Lupitas is very good the tacos were good but the Torta is what really made this place for me...and my cousin was with me she is also frm TX and recommended the Torta and she was right! I'd get it again! YUMMYYY

Tacos de lengua are a bit bland in terms of dressings so we usually take out and add our own extras at home. The burritos are excellent at 5 bucks a pop although it's a lot of food for one (2lbs). The owners are very nice and we always get great quality service whether we chose to dine in or take out. Another home run for Lynn! :)

Best burritos and tacos ever!! The place is nothing fancy, but it is clean. Food is fast and delicious!

I've only been here once, but I plan to go again! So, this review may get tweaked in either direction. We had take-out. I had a combination taco platter and my girlfriend had a burrito with al pastor. Everything was very good! The biggest plus is that it all tastes so fresh and isn't greasy at all! I preferred the al pastor and pollo over the carne asada. I really wanted to try the huarache, but they were all out (not deducting anything for this). Next time! Also, dinner for 2 people and a Fanta for just over $13 is pretty sweet.

This place is the following things: Fast: The food came out within 10 minutes of us ordering it (I'd say 7). Cheap: A plate of chicken nachos, steak burrito, steak torta, and tip came out to be $20. All of these things were pretty decently sized, too. Delicious: I had the steak torta and it was wonderful, big and very filling. I hear the steak burrito was also quite good, and both of us agree that the nachos were great! The chips were fresh and the cheese was gooey and the sour cream was a plenty. All in all, I have to agree with everyone else on here. This place is worth the trip.

Very good. Get a torta, they're the best.

I don't know much about Lynn, but I do know that first impressions are important, and my first impression of this town was something along the lines of "this place...it's kind of trrrrashy, no?" My friend and Boston native J corrected me: "This place is a soul-sucking trash hole!" E agreed: "Lynn is where teenagers go to get hammered, yell at each other, and throw punches in parking lots...not that I would know anything about that kind of behavior." Okay, then. So why were we there? Because we were hungover, en route to the beach, and 411 was leading us on a hunt for burritos. And we found them, cheap and delicious and soul-saving and in spades, at this Mexican talk radio-blasting hole in the wall. $5 for a huge Burrito with Rice, Refried Beans, Lettuce, Sour Cream, Cotija Cheese, and fresh Avocado ($0.50 extra) with Tomato and Onions as free toppings. They toast their tortillas--always a good sign--and the Red Sauce (more of an orange color with red chili flake specks) was insanely delicious and perfectly spicy. E ordered a Horchata and after sippin' on its nutmeg-laden milky goodness, proclaimed it "Mexican egg nog." Everything was delicious, and the bill was ridiculously cheap: $34 for three Burritos, one Horchata, and two big bottles of water! This is the only reason to be in Lynn (unless you're starting a parking lot fight club). At the end of the meal, we agreed that Tacos Lupita was well worth risking our lives to swim in the ocean twenty minutes later. Welcome to Big Bloated Belly Beach! Population: you.

In a review for another Mexican restaurant, I revealed what I call "The Anna's Rule" - that is, Mexican food has to be either cheaper than Anna's or better for me to consider it great. Sadly, few measure up, but Lupita may have them beat on both counts. There's a bit more variety on the menu here, and it's full of things I've yet to try. Sometimes it's hard to branch out and try other menu items when the ones you typically order are so good. Lupita serves my favorite Salvadorian treats, pupusas. I know the name doesn't sound too appetizing, but they're corn tortillas stuffed with either cheese, pork, beans or some combination. They look like a pancake and taste like Chuck Norris riding a unicorn - awesome, in other words. There's a few other locations, but this one in the City of Sin is a short (yet still harrowing) walk from my work. Find a Lupita near you and go to town on some delicious Mexican (and Salvadorian) food.

This place is unbelievable!! I had heard it was good from folks who live in Lynn and read a review from the Chef of the Blue Ox ,no less. ( a great place in itself) However...Just the facts Ma'am..in a nutshell..Cooked fresh, plenty to eat and short money! Clean restaurant , great waitress and right next to the coolest community garden on the North Shore!! Get to Lynn and see what you're missing!! thank you , gracias ...well done!! con- a bit too much salt, I would give it 5 stars otherwise

mmm, Tacos Lupita. The only place to get a heavenly burritos in the area. There are now 2 locations on the same street (one serving liquor the other not). It's not in the best of locations, if your a woman you'll end up having some form of life hitting on you as your face is 2/3s deep in burrito. And if your parked like a retard chances are you'll be hit by one on this little one way street. Prices are a STEAL! I thought they had under charged me my first time! $5 giant loaded steak burrito and $1 waters. Who can beat that! The staff is friendly, always brings your food to the table and are more then happy to accommodate any requests (like extra green and red sauce). If you got a tough outer taco shell that can put up with the creepy men of Lynn, stop into Tacos Lupitas! You won't regret it.

Wonderful place, great food, and really cool and kind owner. A few friends and I went on a Friday night, close to 10, and they were having karaoke. We were seated promptly and encouraged to join along in the fun (which a friend, the only one of us who could speak Spanish, did later). It was such a great experience and we felt so welcomed by everyone there, even though we didn't exactly "fit in." Food, beer, tip, etc. came to just $40 for the four of us. Amazing. And the food was great. I've enjoyed the vegetarian burrito previously, but this time I got the chicken torta and it was even better. I probably could have eaten two (which wouldn't be that crazy, considering it's just a sandwich--no sides or anything...so if you want that sort of thing, be sure to order it). Will be back soon.

AMAZING PORK!! I love this place, it is hands down the best Mexican around. Great guacamole and delicious meats, they do a great job.

  • Lia M.

I love this place - after reading so many great reviews, I had to go, and it is delicous and cheap. It was $12.50 for a chicken taco, chicken mulita, chicken gordita, can of Diet Coke, and a bottle of Mexican Coke. That fed (overfed, probably) two people. Our favorites were the mulitas and the taco, especially with the spicy green sauce. And the Mexican Coke was great. It is small inside, but at 1 pm on Saturday, it was not too busy, so we found seats. No problem finding parking at that time, either. The dining area is clean, the restrooms are clean, the staff is friendly. I think it's perfect after-drinking food; unfortunately, they close at 10 pm, so I guess will it need to be hangover food the next day. But really, it is just good anytime food.

  • Geoff M.

FIVE bucks!!! 5! No, seriously, $5! That's all it takes to get the best burrito around. Just shocking. Let's get this out of the way. I'm not from California. I haven't been, and I don't plan on going. I especially don't plan on going there when I crave a burrito. If you're the type who gets your jollies being all superior about how great Cali burritos are enjoy yourself. Feel free to make the flight next time you have a hankering. If you're less insane, head to Lynn, ignore the trash on the streets, and order the Al Pastor burrito. Stuffed with delicious pork, it delivers. It's a flavor party in your mouth. I can't wait to go back. Remember, FIVE BUCKS!

  • Guilherme S.

This place is the best in town. Period. Friendly staff, delicious and fresh food, and a price... unbeatable. If you can face it without trembling, try the chicken "torta" with 50 pounds (just kidding :)) of jalapenos on it! or try the quesadillas (both chicken or carne), they're delicious! Are there 6 stars on these reviews?

    (5)
  • Lauren C.

Unbeatable. $5.35 for a burrito with everything on it, including guacamole. I've only had their burritos so far (the al pastor is my favorite), but every time I get one it's perfect.

  • Brian R.

I tried this place out back in November 2010 due to all the positive reviews it received on Yelp! and because of word of mouth from people I know. I'm glad I came. I've probably come here and picked food up five times since November and have received nothing but good service and great food. I love the grilled steak burritos here and for $5, you can't beat it! The burrito easily weighs a pound and you feel like you get your moneys worth here. Plus, the staff who run this place are very nice. The only thing that stinks, is the lack of parking in the downtown Lynn area. That is not the fault of the owners though.

  • Joseph C.

Not a big fan of Mexican food but I do prefer this place to the nearby Mexico Lindo. The cow tongue taco was very good with the tongue cooked superbly. The grilled steak torta was an OK sandwich. I tried the horchata and this must be an aquired taste as I though this drink was absolutely vile. Overall a good option for authentic mexican tacos and definetly try the tongue but I will continue to search for a mexican restaurant that I can truly enjoy.

This is an awesome place I've been going to for years. The price is great. The food is FRESH. The food is consistent. They're also fast. Eating in is nice, they bring your food out to your table, real dinner plates. Pickup over phone order is easy, just call ahead and go in within 5 maybe 10 minutes. Sometimes there's a line at noon time but it's not terrible, and it's not always-- it's hard to tell when there's going to be a major line. The food makes it so worth it. I have to admit it's funny to see the look of surprise on people's faces at the line, when they are walking walking... walking to the door... they see it from outside... they're stuck on auto-pilot, they know they want to come in, they want their Tacos Lupita... they come in and they make the face or they say to their friend something about the line, but they KNOW it's worth it if they hit a line! It's just the size of the restaurant that makes it seem bad, and plus they can't really fit more than a few people working the kitchen area. Just a great place because the food is just so fantastic.

Good tacos for good price. Authentic Mexican, and even great for those of you in Boston looking for cali taco-truck style tacos. Fillings are simple and so are the tacos - but that's what it's supposed to be like! Tacos aren't supposed to have lettuce, or cheddar cheese - if you're looking for that (TexMex), go to a Tex-Mex place. This is just Mex. Carne asada and pastor are good. Rice and beans are okay but unnecessary - I'd just get the tacos, a drink, and call it a good meal.

I've had a Chorizo Torta, a Milanesa Torta, and Chorizo, Pork Al Pastore and Carne Asada tacos. I've had the Sopa de Res, a pork and cheese pupusa and a couple of Horchatas. And I've only been there twice. Do I like the food there? Do you see how much I've had to eat there? Did I mention I've only been there twice? The chorizo here - in any form - is to die for. Spicy and rich and flavorful and oh. Oh. OH! I had never had a Torta before, but man-o-man if it's not my favorite food stuff now! A football shaped and damned near football sized fresh baked roll, sliced in half, toasted on the grill, then covered with beans, lettuce, avocado, cheese, mayonnaise, jalapenos and your choice of filling. Your choice is Chorizo. Do you hear me? Chorizo! You're welcome. I had the Milanesa today. I'm sure if I hadn't tried the Chorizo the last time, this Milanesa deal would have been the best sandwich I'd had in a long time. By the way, if beans in a sandwich doesn't sound good to you, then just plug your ears and try it. This is a sandwich to write home about. It'll set you back a whole $4.50. The tacos are excellent. Served with two sauces on the side and a fresh lime wedge, each mouth watering tid-bit is served as 3 soft corn tortillas with the filling of your choice and fresh cilantro, onion and salsa. The carne asada is very good and the Pork Al Pastore is divine, but may I recommend chorizo as the filling? I wasn't planning on ordering the Sopa de Res, but I saw a couple bowls move past me while I waited for my to-go meal today. It's only made on Saturdays. Loaded with beef that is falling off the bones, a cob of corn and lots of other veggies, this soup is a meal in itself. It has a nice, warm rich flavor, but no spiciness. Personally, I'd add chorizo. The one thing I've had here that I didn't like, I hated. I will not be having a pupusa again. But, I think it's me, not them. I saw others eating them and liking them. It seemed like a rather bland cheese stuffed pancake with very bland sauerkraut atop it. Just not my taso de té. I've also got a feeling that the Horchata served here is more Salvadoran than Mexican. I'm used to a whiter, creamier more subtle drink; this stuff is brownish and a bit gritty. Not bad, but not what I really like in my horchata. The people behind the counter are extremely friendly. This despite the frenetic pace at which patron come in and out lining up to order take out or lining up to grab a table. This place is a genuine treasure. As far as I can tell, the left coast reviewers are a bunch of poseurs; been there, ate that, and most of it was simply not as good as Tacos Lupita. Then again, maybe those people didn't get to try the chorizo. *Important! Prepare yourself for PBM (Penultimate Bite Melancholia) with the Chorizo Torta. Stay mindful as you get near the end. It is truly bittersweet to hold that last piece in your hand, as the grim realization that in a moment the sandwich you have so enjoyed shall be no more.

The food is wonderfully prepared with fresh ingredients. I had the taco combo which came with a choice of 3 soft tacos, rice and beans. I chose ground beef, chorizo(pork sausage) and Al pastore (ground pork). They're soft shelled and delicious. What prevented 5 stars was the cleanliness of the place. Tables had prior food left on it. Not appealing! Decided on take out. If you enjoy fresh and tasty Mexican food try the Tacos Lupita.

Yum! Good quesadillas. I don't like Mexican food, but this is pretty good.

I'll start by saying that I am *not* a fan of Mexican food, but my husband loves it so every once in a while I'll give in to Mexican for dinner, which led us to takeout from Tacos Lupita. For three of us we ordered a quesadilla, a burrito and tacos - I loved them all. Everything was so fresh and delicious (and cheap!). I didn't go to pick it up so I can't comment on the restaurant itself, but the food... outstanding! They may have made a convert out of me...

Authentic, delicious, unpretentious. It's all about the food here. I've taken out a bunch if times, always consistent, very tasty and a steal. Ate in once - tight quarters. The photos are spot on - you get a pile of the most tasty, amazing food ever. 5 star cuisine in a styrofoam container. Try the torta - you won't be dissapointed.

Admittedly, I am spoiled when it comes to Mexican and El Salvadorian food. I spent the past 10 years in California and nothing I've found elsewhere even comes close to the amazing Mexican and El Salvadorian I ate regularly there. A few weeks ago I had a hankering for some pupusas so I decided to check out Tacos Lupita. The entire experience was... meh. I wanted to like the place, I really did. But no dice. There are only two types of pupusas on the menu: cheese and pork. I'm used to having far more options like beans and spinich and loroco flowers. No such luck here. I ordered one of each type of pupusa and was totally underwhelmed by my food when it arrived. The pupusas were greasy and heavy, the masa too thick, the curtido old and wilted. Yeck. I guess I will continue my search for decent Mexican food in this part of the country or maybe just wait until the next time I visit CA to have the real thing...

A few months ago I would've given Tacos Lupita four stars because while the food there is very good, I've had some amazing Taqueria fare in my California days. Well, it got amazing for me last week at T-Lupita in the form of a chorizo taco - $2 outta my wallet for a million bucks worth of flavor. I'm not usually big on chorizo, either, but the delivery of just the right amount of the spicy meat in two earthy corn tortillas under a blanket of pico de gallo was revelatory. The burritos there are very nice, too, and a good value for only $5. I usually get the pork pastor when I'm going for a burrito, and it's flavorful enough, although to me, it can be a bit dry sometimes. However, they don't scrimp on the quantity of meat in the burrito, so I keep getting it again. All in all, this is a good low-key place to get some amazing chorizo and try a few items native to Central America that you might not find in the typical taqueria (the mulitas mentioned in other reviews, for example). You won't kill your wallet eating here either. Even the combo dinners are under $10.

We there for lunch. Cannot beat the prices. The place was clean and the food was quick. Now let's get to the food, great. This is the local food joint all the chains wish they were. You can taste the home cooking.

Came here while visiting the Boston area, and I must say that people who really think this place is the best mexican food really haven't had good mexican food. I always hated people who do and say what I'm about to say, but I have to...I'm from California, and there are taquerias everywhere. If Tacos Lupita were in Cali, it wouldn't last very long because it's really sub par. The meat was fatty, the rice tasted like rice a roni. I don't know it just wasn't that great. If I ever visit the area again, I wouldn't go there.

Great food, inexpensive and very friendly service. However health food it's not. I like the architecture of the neighborhood, the old grand buildings of the early 20th century make for a nice backdrop as a new ethnic group transitions the neighborhood.

Yum I'm not sure what the red sauce is, but I like it! Agreed burritos are awesome and the pupusas could use a little work although the red sauce made anything good. The place is really comfortable, friendly staff, Spanish soaps on TV, I wanted to pop open another soda on the counter and stick around but beware the one hour parking!

I am a big fan of Tacos Lupita- to spite the fact that it's located in Lynn. If you are unfortunate enough to find yourself in Lynn Massachusetts for any reason, take solace in the fact that you can at least enjoy some pretty-close-to-authentic Mexican food before you run! I wish they had more vegetarian options on the menu, but the ingredients are all fresh, so I usually just ask for a burrito and pick my ingredients. I love the fact that they have avocado!! Eat THAT Taco Bell!! Tacos Lupitas is seriously cheap, cheap eats that are fresh and tasty (I can't personally speak for the animal-based foods, but my meat-eating friends love going here with me!) You get what you pay for with the ambiance, however. It's a bit dumpy, more like a place you want to order from the counter and leave instead of sitting at a small table with the TV blasting in the corner. For a quick bite, or a late night snack with friends on the Northshore- Tacos Lupitas is the perfect choice! For a date- totally NOT! Maybe order some takeout Lupitas and bring it to your place instead....

I lived down the street from here for about a year and loved going to pick up a burrito and chicken nachos. A burrito and a Jarrito and I've got a smile. @MarcusJ, I hear you...I worked in San Jose, CA for awhile and the taquerias were incomparable. But for Mass., this is quite good and hits the spot. And I certainly prefer a burrito here over Anna's - when I first lived in Somerville, and even now, I can't get over the fact that Anna's is the pinnacle of burritos in the minds of some. The only other place I'd put atop this is El Pelon, which made me shed a tear when it had a fire awhile back. I never tried the tortas or tacos at Tacos Lupita, but will do so based on previous reviewers' recs. I always either get a steak or eggs/chorizo burrito. Worth checking out IMO - as long as you don't go in expecting this to be Cali-quality burritos in Lynn, you won't be disappointed. Actually, even then, you'll be alright. (But if you find said Cali-quality burritos I'd like to know!)

Thank god! I live in the northeast where you can still go to a small family owned restaurant and get a great meal made with all the love and care as if you were invited into the owners house. Boooo to large corporate operations who because of their size and wealth have been trying to drive the small restaurant owner into extinction. But because of the vast diversity in our region we still have these culinary jewels to frequent, The food is of the highest quality and authenticity. The price is far less then the tip one would have to put up at the larger chain restaurant. Even cheaper then Wendy's or McDonald's. So do yourself a great justice and give these fine folks a visit and get a taste of Mexican food heaven.

Delicious. I stumbled upon this restaurant with my brother. We loved it. Devoured our burritos that were filled with all our favorite Mexican ingredients. However--- I felt full for about two days. I can only go there maybe once every couple of weeks. Love it though!

Just ate an Al pastor (cerdo) Burrito from here. It was absolutely delicious! It's made with all fresh ingredients and in a quick timely fashion. This pork burrito was bursting in flavor. Could taste all of the ingredients separately because of the freshness. I have only given a 3 star rating simply on one visit. I will probably up it to a 4 star once I go again with my girlfriend. Try a couple different meals. She's a vegetarian and Tacos Lupita has some vegetarian options.

I been to this place a few times now and I have yet to find a resturent (mexican or in that area) that can even come close this is place. Hands down the best. Absolutely love the taco plate and the quesadilla to die for!! Good job guys!! One complain though (which merits that I take 1 star off the rating) that girl at the counter needs to star putting a smile on her face! She looks and TALKS like if she didnt want to be there! Owner PAY attention!! Other than that great food and homey place!!

If you're on the North Shore, and you have a South of the Border craving, Tacos Lupita is the place to go. I love their Burritos! Order the Al Pastor burrito and a glass of Horchata to wash it down with, and you'll be in El Salvadorian heaven!

I want to see someone try to top this place! nothing but love for this place After a long night of videogames, my foodie halo friend was talking about the best taco place after I fragged him. Famished and quite honestly very pooped, we went to this place and gorged. it was outstanding. Feels like Meh-ico!

A very confused restaurant with two locations on the same street making it redundant and odd. One location is a sit down restaurant the other down the street a fast food take out spot. Prices are at average for burritos and tacos, but the taste is below, onions overpower its "Pico de gallo mix" (tomato and veggies mix added to burritos and tacos). The sit down Restaurant has a few more menu options but none surpass in flavor and its atmosphere it boring with not enough going culture in its plain walls. The TVs are of most interest in this restaurant as the staff is young and sometimes unfriendly. I occasionally go to this restaurant for lunch but wouldn't take someone out to Dinner here.

We went to the Munroe street Lupita's tonight and were very disappointed... There was a party of 30 people there who luckily had there food already, but all but 1 other tables was full. We were seated at the only table left, it was cleaned and we sat. Getting our drink order took 10 minutes. I was thinking that I wanted a margarita, but all they have is beer and wine, bummer. We finally got some beers, then she took our food order. We ordered nachos so that 3 people could share and a chef friend of mine wanted to try Mexican style wings... The nachos were very boring with the cheese not melted thoroughly, and the wings were like 'Honey-dipt' breaded Gringo wings served with french fries and a few jalapeño poppers thrown into the mix; it was odd. Our food came out before we finished the apps. My friend had the taco combo plate which he seemed to like; the 'Roast' taco (asada) he claimed was the best. My wife had the shrimp fajitas, which looked boring and was reported as o.k. She noted that the menu stated it came with 4 tortillas but there were only 3. No big deal, just pointing it out. I had the chicken burrito and I asked for a side of beans, which never came... The burrito was not hot really and it came wrapped in aluminum foil just rolling around on the plate. I thought this odd as well. I didn't order the burrito to-go, so why the foil wrap in a dining room. Food was just o.k. If not a let down. Not up to the same standards I've had from their corner store. The girl never asked if we wanted another drink(s). I had to ask for water, I motioned her for 3 glasses and she brought only 1... It took 15 minutes to catch an eye for our check. Just plain, slow terrible service. We should've gone to the Ox. We probably won't go back.

Potentially the best fajita I have ever had. Authentic Mexican, and great portions. Very quiet spot, but not a good place to bring a date, it is not very fancy. But the food makes up for the atmosphere.

This should be a three and a half star review. I know what you're thinking. What's an LA boy doing patronizing a taco joint in the North Shore? Even worse, what's he doing giving them a good review?!? Tacos Lupita is, quite frankly, bien chingon. My girlfriend at the time discovered this place in her area and kept raving about it. I, being the snob that I am, casually dismissed her claims. What would New Englanders know about tacos? I'm from LA after all. I know tacos. No, I KNOW tacos. Lunch trucks, stands, propper restaurants, holes in the wall, hell from the back of a van, I've consummed enough tacos to consider myself a bit of an authority. So when I walked into Tacos Lupita for the first time I had of course already made up my mind that these would be substandard tacos. I need to punch myself next time I make up my mind like that. Tacos Lupita is great. The atmosphere was very relaxed and casual. The place was about a third full with a couple families in booths. The guys behind the counter were working quickly, but still they were pretty friendly. Obviously Paisas, I asked for the rundown of fillings. They had the standard pastor, asada, chorizo, chicken, they were lacking in a few. I ordered a milanesa torta, two tacos (chorizo and pastor), and my gf ordered the nacho platter. It had been a long time since I had a really good milanesa torta, and Lupita delived. Thin, crispy in a light torta bun, really good. The tacos were alo great, the pastor (which is usually the measure of a good taco joint) was perfectly seasoned and roasted, where as the chorizo was pretty high quality and well cooked. Very satisfying. The nachos were HUGE and had an ample amount of carne asada on them. Very, very tasty. A nice surprise was the fact that mexican sodas were stocked to accompany the meal, nothing goes with a pastor taco like a jarritos. I didn't see too many taco places in the area, so I'm gladd Lynn has Tacos Lupita now. It was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, and if I'm ever in the area again, I'll surely stop by.

Just want to emphasize, again, just how good this place is. I moved away so it's been a little bit since I dined here. A flood of flavor and blissful food memories returned to me upon my recent visit. I need more stars to give.

After reading about how great the al pastor burritos are at Tacos Lupita, I just had to try one! The pork is so delicious!! The flavors are wonderful - fresh onions, spices, & a tiny hint of sweetness! So yummy!!! I recommend a bit of the green hot sauce as well. The restaurant itself is small and nothing fancy, but it's a great place to grab a bite to eat if you're in the area. I've also had their tacos and papusas, which are also good. :) Check them out!!!

Tacos Lupita is not Anna's or Gordo's (SF Style!), but compared to the other taqueria's in the region, Tacos Lupita is a little taste of San Francisco in Lynn, MA.

  • Kayley T.

Lynn really isn't that bad, it's just this particular part of Lynn that is bad. Along with Union Street (THE WORST). Some of the reviews make it sound like Dorchester! However, Tacos Lupita is AMAZING! Best burritos, and homemade chips with a smokey salsa. Yummy! Also love the green and red hot sauces! Chipolte and Qdoba have nothing on Tacos Lupita, and although it's a hike for me to get to there it's totally worth it!

Best burrito I've had in a while. Seriously. Order the burrito, you can't go wrong. Cheese Pupusas are ok...do yourself a favor and skip the nachos. I ordered a mulita but someone eating with me stole it from me, so I can't tell you if it was any good. Word of the day here is BURRITO. Don't miss it.

note to self: get husband out of bed by 11 am on saturdays. carry him to car. yell: tacos! taaaaccccoooos! and hopefully make it to tacos lupita by 11:30 am. this restaurant is always packed by noon, with not a hope of getting a table, and also nary a prayer of finding a spare space to stand in while waiting for say... two al pastor tacos, two lengua, two chorizo, and maybe some rice/beans/fries... ::sigh:: at any rate, get here early if you want to eat as soon as the meat has been sliced lovingly from the spit. even if you have to bring it home, as we have had to do previously, you'll still arrive to find your edibles neatly packed and ready for immediate, warm consumption. al pastor tacos are roasted on a vertical spit with a pineapple on top. a lovely young lady slices the meat from the spit and gives it a quick grill, along with chorizo or anything else you order before serving the proteins up on doubled-up corn tortillas, chopped onions, peppers, and tomatoes, and some serious roasted green (mild) or red (hot) roasted salsa on the side. if i were you, i'd stick to ordering as many al pastor tacos as possible. flawless. just flawless. best tacos i've had in the boston area. sweet, salty, deliciously roasted, red colored pork. also order a bottle of the coca cola...mexican coca cola. as i said before, expect tacos lupita to be very crowded, but do not despair, take a snack out for later. and don't be scared of lynn. i find that it produces the best mexican and vietnamese food by far.

Did I eat at the same restaurant that all these other reviewers ate at?! This was the WORST Mexican food I EVER had! I ordered the chicken burrito which was NOTHING but a flour tortilla filled with cheap rice. Lucky if there was a dozen baked beans in this "blanket of carbs". It's a mystery where the chicken was. I couldn't see it even with my glasses on. My husband ordered the specialty combo plate. Nothing "special" about this plate of "burnt to a crisp", pork and steak scraps. The measly piece of chicken was just as dry. Thank goodness we purchased two bottles of water to wash down this plate of meat jerky. A pile of cheap rice, baked beans and some iceberg lettuce completed this dining disaster. Walking past what appeared to be a prayer revival meeting on the way to our car had me praying that I'd forget this place.

My wife and I just moved to Lynn from Jamaica Plain. We are renting a fantastic loft in Central Square.Moving day was last Saturday, and we had five of our friends to help. After the agony of a move I wanted to at least cover lunch. We had seen this place on our way in,and all agreed that we would do Mexican for lunch. We had noticed their clientele, and it's always been my experience that when one wants Mexican,go to where the Mexicans eat. We were not disappointed. Do not expect the Taco Bell variety of food here. The taco's were grilled steak, fresh onions, tomatoes, and cilantro.I can't personally speak for the other choices, but all my friends raved about the fresh ingredients. They even offer a veggie burrito for one of my non-meat eating friends. I was able to feed 7 people for $32. That's what I call a great deal. I am one block away and have the menu on my fridge for easy reference.

Ahhh...a real taqueria in the Boston area. Well, it's in downtown Lynn. No need to be scared away with that Lynn, Lynn, city of sin bologna... So, Tacos Lupita is a small Mexican/El Salvadorean restaurant with a couple main dishes-Tacos, burritos, gorditas (not the taco bell kind!), tortas, salads and some more. I have had the carne asada (flank steak), pollo (chicken), and the al pastor (pork) in the aforementioned forms. All are pretty proper, but I gotta say that the carne asada is my favorite here. The tacos are my favorite dish here. Simple with a flavorful and fresh pico de gallo on top of whatever meat (or veggie/bean) you choose. And each order comes with two hot corn tortillas-so you can have two tacos for the price of one! I love that... The burritos are good but have a thick flour tortilla that is grilled. Some people might like this better but I prefer the steamed "San Francisco Style" burrito tortilla. The rice and beans aren't the best you will ever have, unless the only rice and beans you have had falls in between Chili's and some weak-ass rice pilaf side order. The atmosphere is typical to what you would find in a west coast taqueria-small with about 10 dining tables, Spanish music posters, and usually a novella on the TV. There is always a good number of Hispanic/Latin American customers so you know it's got to be good. Oh yeah, and it's fairly cheap. Around $5 for a burrito and around $2 for tacos. ps...THEY SERVE MEXICAN COCA-COLA!!!!!!! If anybody has compared the Mexican Coke to American, you know the Mexican stuff rules! And they do have Jarritos and other Spanish beverages. So, if you are looking for a nice little Mexican restaurant, skip the Bolocos and the Chipotles and the Baja Fresh's and go to Lynn (right off the commuter rail) to have some Tacos Lupita.

Great food, even late. This Salvadoran-inspired Mexican food features tasty, well-seasoned, non-greasy meats served up with fresh produce and cheese. The service is very basic - counter orders are delivered to tables. Many people take out the food. You are welcome to have a seat and watch Spanish-language television while you wait. No one takes your name, but when your oder is up, someone will catch your attention. I believe all items are under $10; everything is made fresh with good ingredients that could make any nosher or dieter happy. It's a local, family-owned business that you can feel great about supporting. Especially since the food and the value can't be beat. Tacos Lupita is everything that "fast food" could be.

Tacos Lupita is a small family owned restaurant that serves Salvadoran and Mexican food. Their menu has plenty of choices, including vegetarian/meatless . Great place if you are looking for authentic Mexican flavor. I recommend TORTA DE MILANESA, a huge sandwich made with breaded meat and served with beans, lettuce, tomato. Other favorites are MULITAS, freshly made tortillas with your choice of chicken/pork/beef and TACOS AL PASTOR, made with marinated pork in thin slices. Great food, reasonable prices!

Tacos Lupita is the bomb! And the prices are so cheap! My favorites are the taco combination plate (3 tacos - i usually get 2 beef and one chicken - comes with rice and beans for only $7) and the gorditas. Ingredients are super fresh and I have never been disappointed.

this place has THE BEST burritos on the North Shore. They're huge and inexpensive... and the woman who owns it is a sweetheart. I have to admit that being called "honey" is a way to my heart but that's irrelevant, here. The food is awesome.

Fan-freakin-tastic. Great for midday study breaks. cheap, good, food fast. I love their taco plate that comes with three tacos with all the trimmings, rice, beans, side of sauce all packed with flavor for maybe $7-8. Parking can be dicey so come with some patience and luck. Service is friendly. Definitely one of my favorites

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
