This is a case of you get what you pay for. Place is not cheap but everything is top shelf. Dinner in front of a ROARING fire (you'd think they were running a locomotive-did not spare the wood nice to see in a restaurant) with spectacular food. Staff was outstanding in all respects. The menu...you could eat there for a month and not get bored. This is THE go-to place for dinner when in Hyannis.

Warm, inviting decor, extremely tasty food, vast wine menu, and excellent service (our waitress, Nadia, made for an overall great experience). Perfect for a date night or special occasion dinner.

The staff has improved - ate there on Friday in a booth at the Bar ( best spot). The greeting was good the waitress's timing for order , questions second drinks was great. Food was consistent across the board - we all ordered local fish - Blackened swordfish ( only dig was that the salsa was laden w/ cranberries - would prefer a mango version w/ smaller portion and should be served with a veggie) The salmon special w/ black rice and vinaigrette slaw excellent. The are running a 28$ bottle of wine special in honor of their 28th year - good idea in a hurting economy!

The Roadhouse Cafe is where one can find solace from the typical Cape bars and restaurants that line Main Street Hyannis. (You know what I mean by typical, any combination of the following: douches, karaoke, bad music, tourists, etc). The atmosphere is classy and nice and I did appreciate the chance to mellow out with some jazz and piano while eating. The service was also very good. But Kate G. is right in that the layout leaves a lot to be desired. You may be cramped in or sitting in what appears to be a walkway. I don't know how the waiters aren't tripping over one another. If this doesn't bother you, then definitely give the food a try. I have never had anything here that wasn't pretty tasty. I was a big fan of the Penne Pasta and Sweet Italian Sausage. The Seafood Fra Diavolo is also delicious. Worth a trip.

The Up-Charge Experience! Enjoyed the restaurant, food and ambience, but really does a restaurant this expensive need to up-charge? First the waitress never mentioned any extra charges, and secondly, the bill at the end of our dinner was like navigating through a road-map... gps would have been helpful. My companion went up to the waitress at the register to have her decipher what was going on. So here's what was up-0charged: 2 Jameson shots - $2.00 extra for ice. Bourbon Manhattan - $3.50 for "straight-up" instead of on the rocks - which I'm sure a $1.00 would have added; split order appetizer - $2.00 extra to split it in two. Having known that, we would have preferred the appetizer "family style". I'm sure there may have been an up-charge as well to the 3 spoons the waitress brought to the table with the tiramisu.... Cannot validate that but seems plausible. Several flaws in getting our drinks on time and getting the check even when requesting in advance that we were heading out of town for an hour and half drive. AT any rate, food, ambiance, drinks were all good, but spoiled a bit by the inconsideration and lack of communication in "up-Charging."

We made reservations requesting a quite table in the corner, what we got was a table in the corner in the area were the waitresses and hostises gather to BS (loudly) and were all other customer are pranced by (loudly) to their tables. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful and very attentive to making our meal enjoyable. However, my wife ordered the chicken special which was anything but special. Regular baked chicken you would make at home better than what was served. It was taken off the check by our wonderful waitress. I ordered the Zuppa de Pecia at it was excellent, at lease was was served ( small portion compared to most places) but very good for sure. Overall our dining experience was less than desirable, my meal was good, while my wifes was less than expected (again, but was taken rightly off the check) Our waitress seemed geniunly concerned we had not had the meal we had expected, she was I believe embarressed by the food, but again her service was excellect and she got a very good tip from us as we know that the waitress is not the one in the kitchen. Not sure if we would try the Roadhouse again while visiting Hyannis, but maybe if all other places were closed.

Went for anniversary dinner, didn't expect such a nice restaurant with the name "roadhouse" cafe. Great for just casual dress or even a little classier. The codfish chowder was to die for (award winning BTW). I had the seafood bake (Large Shrimp, Cod, and Large scallops) all to die for, I don't normally like scallops but there were so good, the best I have ever had. Wife had the Lobster (stuffed with scallops) also wonderful, best lobster I have had. The even gave us a salted chocolate caramel cheese cake on the house for our anniversary. (The cheese cake was a little to salty but it was free). A great experience, our wait staff was wonderful and made us feel great.

Classy, elegant, great menu but more importantly excellent execution, professional service, live music... Our parents' 50th anniversary celebration here was fabulous! I recommend making a reservation - the place was packed on Fri night. They offer valet parking. The dishes we tried and loved: bay scallops with risotto, sole, zuppa seafood soup dish - all was outstanding!

Looking at the prices, one would expect high-quality food. I've been fooled twice. Perhaps it's a good family style restaurant (an expensive one at that,) but fine dining? yikes.

My bf and I were spending a night in Hyannis and the bartender in the lounge of our hotel recommended this place for dinner. I'm glad he did. I loved it! It's a combination of fancy and casual. Lots of dark wood, small lamps on the tables and cape cod decor on the walls and over the bar. Our waiter, Ryan, was fantastic. Very friendly and personable. Started with the crab cakes app. Incredible. It comes with a mango salsa that just went so great with it. No ordered the stuffed pork chop. Delicious. It was stuffed with mozzarella, spinach and tomato. It came with smashed potatoes and butternut squash. Everything was great. The bf was going to get the lobster ravioli or the short ribs. Our waiter said short ribs all the way and it was a great choice. When I told Ryan I wasn't really a fan of the drink I ordered he sat down next to me and helped me pick out a drink that I'd like. He was a real sweetheart. It's expensive and not a place I could frequent every week. I wish! There was also a piano bar. Really nice place.

Dreadfull service for mediocre food!! 45 minutes after ordering our food and our waitress being nonexistent all night, our food finally arrived. I ordered Italian grilled chicken. Thechicken was cold and the risotto was barely warm, cold around the edges. My boyfriends plate was steaming hot! I'm assuming they cooked my meal well before his. I'm not one to be picky about food but when it is $20+ per plate I hope it is fresh off the stove and hot. I waited about five minutes for our waitress to return to check on us before asking another waitress to just put it in the microwave for a minute. At this point I was only a bit annoyed at the lack of service from our waitress, but knew my food was an easy 2 minute fix. 20 MINUTES WENT BY! No one had come back to tell me where my food was even though I had stopped two other people to ask where our waitress/food was. Finally our waitress comes over to ask how everything was, completely clueless... It was 8:40pm (one hour and 25 minutes after our 7:15 reservation) and I still had no food, while my boyfriend had finished his meal before it too got cold. When I finally got my food, I told the waitress and manager we had to leave so they wrapped it up for me. When I opened it up later to actually eat it, there were little strings of pasta which did not come from me or my boyfriends food. AWFUL! For how much I am paying as customer I would have expected the service to be immensely better. Having been a waitress myself, I was more in tune to how careless and none attentive the waitress was to our table the entire night. Not to mention the food was mediocre. The risotto was bland and chicken was dry. I have paid much less for better quality. Cape Cod has a lot of upscale restaurants where you pay for good quality food and service, but this just isn't one of them.

Love love love always. Rustic fine dining at its best. Seafood and steaks are always great. Can't go wrong. Great option for fining dining in Hyannis. Yes it's not cheap, but I think it's worth it.

What a disaster - let me out!" We have NEVER had a worse experience than we did at this place. We were seated in the bar, at a table so narrow the menus overlapped and kept knocking over things. But that was minor..... We were there for two going on three hours . Ordered a bottle of wine. 15 minutes later were told there were no wine glasses. We said, never mind, bring any glass -- so 20 minutes later get water glasses and a waiter saying the wine we ordered was no longer available. Another 15 minutes and a bottle of wine does get served. Many more minutes passed......and we were ready to walk out when they said food was coming..... So, more than an hour after we arrived, we got food -- and when it came the order was wrong and the food was awful. Took them 20 minutes to figure out the bill and remove the items that never arrived. Another 20 minutes for the manager to tell us it was all our fault and threaten to call the cops on us. Really. We are four 60 + year olds, who eat out all over the world, and understand restaurants get understaffed and have problems. But never, in all these years, has an experience been so bad.

We like to go to the Roadhouse after the tourist season has died down. We went on a Thursday evening and ate at the bar. Great atmosphere and a wonderful, personable bartender. I had the pan seared dayboat scallops with fruit risotto. It came with 4 huge scallops and so much risotto that I had plenty to take home. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the risotto was delicious. My husband was going to get a salmon dish until he saw the lobster roll and switched his mind. A huge portion of lobster and not a lot of mayonnaise. He added french fries instead of chips and that was a good choice. He ended up bringing half of it home. I loved the fact that my dinner came with a side salad; you never see that anymore. My husband and I are fans of craft draft beers and my only (and very minor) complaint is that there were only 3 draft beers to select from. All in all, a great meal, well worth the price.

Had dinner in the Tavern, turned out to be a great spot on a cold and quiet night for the mid-winter Cape. Spent some time with a roaring fire and cozy seats, a great hostess, and a very nice bowl of the Codfish chowder. Large pieces of soft local Cod in a creamy, unthickened broth. Warm and rich buttery flavor, with the spice of fresh cracked black pepper. Simple but effective.

If you like Jazz and amazing food this the place to be. I was fortunate enough to sit by the piano and had a great time while I devoured my encrusted baked swordfish! The band only plays Mon & Tues during summer season .

Excellent food, excellent table service. My father had the haddock special, my mother had the lobster bolognese (raved about it) and I had the steak tips, which were delicious. It's a shame that the female bartender with a chip on her shoulder had to ruin the 5 star rating. We arrived about a half hour premature to our reservation to enjoy a couple of drinks at the bar. It was quite busy, which is perfectly understandable. There were two bartenders, one for each half of the bar seemed to be the organization. After a few minutes of waiting, I observed this bartender scold and mouth off to an older waitress in front of customers and staff, shortly telling her she needs to keep up. This turned out to be our waitress when we sat down, which I will get to later in the review. After over ten minutes of the female bartender not noticing my father attempting to order a round of drinks, cash in hand, I proceeded to step to the side of the bar, which is not typically allowed, I know, but there were parties earning her attention who arrived to the bar area much later than us. We were all growing impatient and not only us noticed how long we were waiting, a kind gentleman had joined us in our crusade to flag her down. After trying to call her attention she opened the bar, pushed by me, cutting me off and saying excuse me sir as I was explaining to her that my father had been waiting over ten minutes for a couple of beers, she responded by saying "We're very busy." Oh thanks for clarifying. I was appalled. Later I brought it up to our waitress. She turned out to had been working there close to 30 years and was as upset as I was. What happened to respecting your elders? We probably will be returning here, the food is great and we've been coming for some time. But that bartender was a poor excuse for one and needs to learn a little bit about respect.

Hostess rudely hung up on us when we called. We asked if there was another place close by where we could watch the game after 930 as she mentioned they close at 930pm. We heard good things about the place but won't try it. Hope the rest of the staff is more hospitable.

I found this place in one of those cape free magazine in the hotel then looked up the reviews on yelp. It's kind of a cool place. Picture Irish Pub meets old world staunchy steak house. The main dining room is round tables with white linens, the bar section is a nice bar with some room booths and in one of the dining rooms there is an actual piano bar. I mean the kind of bar that has 6-7 stools built into it, you can sit at the "piano bar" and have a cocktail and a bite to eat. We ate in one of the bar booths and it was perfect. Less formal, we were in jeans and had a teenager with us. We started with stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail and the ribs--the ribs were great. We had a couple of burgers at our table, a chicken dish, and a wrap sandwich. There are plenty of nicer dishes on the menu, steaks, seafood, pasta and chicken. I can only speak about what we had and it was all good. The bread and olive oil is good. I preferred the soft focaccia style bread. I had a mug of chowder - it was really good if you like the very thick kind, which I do. Nice perk of complementary valet. Sits behind Main St. in Hyannis, just cross through the parking lot and you are on Main St. Nice way to pass the night. I would go back and try to sit at the piano bar. The server could not have been more helpful. The manager also made a table visit. Overall cool vibe.

We were given a $100 gift card for this place, so we (family of four) went there to try it. Given what I've heard about it, it was pretty disappointing. I had a cup of fish chowder, which was excellent, but the rest of the food was a letdown. Two of us ordered penne with italian sausage, which was tasty but lacked on presentation and didn't justify the upscale price. I had a quesadilla appetizer which according to the menu has jack cheese, goat cheese, roasted red peppers, black beans, corn, and sides of pico de gallo and chipotle sour cream. All I could taste was jack cheese and chicken, and I didn't get any sour cream. Reminded me of taco bell, to be honest. The last dish we got was the chicken saltimbocca, which looked nice but had a really strange flavor. I'll definitely go back for the chowder because I'm a chowder fiend, but that's all I'll get.

While visiting Hyannis for work, I chose this restaurant because of the great Yelp reviews and Rachel Ray's visit. i'm so glad that I did. It is housed in the perfect New England style tavern, and the food matched the aesthetic for excellence. I'm always hungry for Clam Chowder when I come to Cape Cod, and this restaurant won the award for best clam chowder on the Cape. It was creamy and contained large chunks of clam. I chose the Jack Daniels cedar planked grilled salmon, and my friend had the tortilla crusted haddock. Both exceeded our expectations and left us very satisfied. Our waiter was a young guy, very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. He made the experience even better and was extremely patient given that we arrived just before closing time. Loved the place!

I've eaten here several times, the food is good most of the time the atmosphere is decent but make sure you ask to sit in the back! They have tables in a small hallway that really don't belong there. Also make sure you ask what the prices are for the specials are if you are going to get one. I had the stuffed lobster with crab and scallops on top..... Now I should of asked but I've been to 100's of restaurants and have ordered specials so I'm thinks in my mind 40-50 bucks....... Well when I ever got the bill and saw it was 75$!!!! I almost had a heart attack, in fact I ordered another martini to ease the pain!

In two words: overpriced and overrated This place is highly rated mostly for their clam chowder which indeed was really good. However it is not the kind of place where one person just go for the soup and there is really nothing in the menu for less than 25$ (seafood-ish) unless you are planning to eat an average pizza. The lobster was outrageously expensive (40 to 50$ per pound) so we opted out and got some sesame encrusted tuna and lobster ravioli. I cannot really say if the ravioli were good since they were buried in a heavy cream sauce that was covering the taste. The tuna was not bad but the Asian cold pasta side felt out of a can. The food came out in a very short time. While it is nice not to have to wait a long time i found a bit suspicious that they could prepare the dinner in such short time and in fact none of the dishes seemed prepared with a particular care. If you have the courage to go there eat the soup and leave, go otherwise you will be $100 poorer and looking forward to find a different place the following night to eat a lobster.

Roadhouse Cafe was a pleasant surprise! The interior is very quaint and a bit rustic. Our waitress was wonderfully accommodating and the host loved my little girl walking through to see him as we waited for food. I had the BEST steak tips I have ever had here! I mean, seriously, these were so good I have craved them more than once since having had them. I would eat here again simply to have those steak tips! They were fantastic! My husband had a stuffed salmon and he thought it was delicious. We had a lovely evening on my daughter's first birthday and enjoyed good food and good service.

Amazing food and service! Me and my two friends came down to Hyannis for the weekend this was our first stop to eat! We had the lobster ravioli, clam pasta and a shrimp dish. The food was delicious well worth the price! The staff is amazing I can't remember out waitress name but she was from California and was extremely nice and informative about all the food was very welcoming the bar staff and the rest of the wait staff were extremely pleasant as well I would defiantly recommend this place can't say enough good things about it!!

Started with the "Award Winning" Clam Chowder. The waitress warned us that it was thinner than most and I should have changed it. It wasn't bad, just less flavor and far less stuff in it than expected. Got the fajita pizza (way too spicy) and chicken parm (Average at best) as entrees. That's it and 2 drinks total, bill was $60...not worth it. The decor was all over the place going from fancy to old-fashion to sports bar but not warm and welcoming. This is supposed to be fine dinning but I don't see it. I don't think I'll return...far better places on Main St

The word that comes to mind when I think of our experience here is BLAH! Nothing about this place stood out at all. It is incredibly dark inside to the point where I could barely see the menu with the light from my phone. Good thing it's dark because it's really ugly inside. Not only is it dark and poorly decorated, it's also incredibly crowded. We came over 4th of July weekend and this place was packed. We were seated by the women's bathroom so there was constantly a line of women patiently awaiting to use it. There was also a large group of people sitting right next to us and they were beyond annoying! We were really looking forward to trying this place because of the Yelp reviews but we found the food to be average and nothing special. The service was really good but the food was average and just bland. People seem to like the food so we left wondering what we were missing.

Amazingly Great Service and Food. We have dined at the best of the best over the years. My girls are not easily impressed and this restaurant has a eachother great atmosphere, very courteous ' professional staff. The boratta was excellent and Soo Fresh. Lobster, Chowder, steamers, Lobster Salad, Oysters, deserts on and on the experience goes. Service was perfect. There wasn't one thing that they fell short on. We would go go to this restaurant every night if we lived in the area. We Love in Westchester NY and frequently spend time in NYC. If you read any negative reviews? Ignore them Cuz there are people that just Don't get it and Live to complain. Make reservations and enjoy this experience. This is a Great Place in every way.... Jerry M NY.

For whatever reason, my boyfriend and I hadn't yet tried Roadhouse Cafe in our 3 prior trips to Hyannis. This year, we decided we would give it a go, and we were not disappointed. We arrived at 9:30 and were seated in the bistro section out back. We had made reservations, but it wasn't necessary -- there were only 3 tables occupied. There was a live pianist, and the piano was set up so you could sit at it and eat off of it (love that!). Ambiance was classy but true to its cape surroundings: upscale with lots of wood, dim lighting, and candlelight, but with paper tablecloths (lobster-fest style). Service was good - I ordered a mojito, but the waitress informed me they had no fresh mint, and offered me a glass of sangria instead. Great recommendation - it was delicious. I got a caesar salad and blackened fish tacos, and my boyfriend got chicken parm. My salad was great BUT - it was brought out literally INSTANTLY, and the plate was cold. If that doesn't say, "this has been sitting in the fridge", I don't know what does. Regardless, the lettuce was crisp, the dressing was tasty, and we cleaned the plate. My fish tacos were actually *seared* tuna, not blackened, and I just wasn't in the mood for seared fish, so I sent them back. The waitress was VERY gracious about the whole thing, and I got a cup of clam chowder instead, which was excellent. Cost-wise, I was surprised by how affordable the whole meal was, given that it seems to be one of the higher-end restaurants in Hyannis. Fish entrees were in the mid-20's, better steak was in the 30's-range, and there were other pasta dishes, etc. that were less than 20. That's a typical night out around Boston, and not a bank-breaker as I had anticipated. I loved the whole experience as well as the dishes we ordered, and I will definitely be back again!

My daughter selected this for her birthday dinner, and we were not disappointed! She needs the gluten-free menu, and judges this one of the best. Her steak was perfect. I'm a meat loaf fan, and the recipe and presentation here was superior to most. I esp. appreciated that everything was NOT all piled together, but nicely arranged. Our other entrees were equally well prepared and the service was excellent. With toddle in tow, this still proved to be a great evening. This is a pricey restaurant by my standards, but, well, you do get what you pay for!

This was a nice place in Hyannis but I struggled with how to categorize it... There was a valet out front (which i comically watched the valet move a couple's BMW 5 feet so they could get in the car) but once you get inside the decor screams 80's steakhouse. There was a large selection of items, somewhat high priced, and bounced from steakhouse, to fishhouse, to asian, to italian. We asked for the Seafood Fra Diavolo to be modified, replacing scallops and lobster to be replaced with mussels and calamari, and the waitress said that would cost more (umm when did mussels start costing more than lobster?) Needless to say it tasted fine, nice and spicy as requested, and ended up charging us the same for the modified meal. My pasta meal (shortribs ragout) tasted a little like pulled pork given the sweetness, interesting, not what i expected, but good. Generous portions too. Service was good, but i could tell a lot of the staff did not want to be there, and preferred to spend more time socializing than taking care of their customers. So... Food 4 stars, Service 3 stars, Menu 3 stars.

We went on a Thursday night & got right. A seat at the piano bar. A table is built right over the piano. What a great experience. The piano player was excellent! The menu was extensive. I settled on the spinach salad. Very good choice. Our waiter suggested a bottle of wine that we loved! Our entrees were huge! We could of shared one. We split the cheesecake for dessert. We would deffinetly return.

The short version: 4 stars for food... 5 stars for the exceptional service. We stopped in on July 4th, Independence Day. My partner and I are often traveling on 7/4 and have had a history of bad service on that particular day, probably because servers don't want to be working on a holiday. (See my review of Manhattan's Cityhouse restaurant from last year as an example.) Well, not this time: Roadhouse Cafe in Hyannis treated us like royalty. We started with the lobster soft tacos. Oh my, they were loaded with the meat from a 1lb. lobster in each generously-sized taco (two on the plate). A little bit of butter, a teensy touch of sriracha aioli, and some cabbage. A bit messy but fantastic. For our meals, my partner had a daily special: poached salmon with a mango coulee, tropical fruit salsa, and jasmine rice. It was quite good; the salmon was clearly fresh, and the tropical fruit salsa was just as fresh. I had the filet mignon and twin lobster tails. Two reactions on this platter: - The steak was perfect. Perfect! The accompanying mashed potatoes were loaded with cream and butter, and therefore fantastic. - The lobster tails were dry and tough. The only real disappointment for the meal. Dessert was the Heath Bar brownie sundae. I don't have to go into detail; it was lovely. Why am I giving out five stars? Exceptional service. Here's why: We asked the waitress (Angela) where she recommended we see the fireworks display later in the evening, given how many people were likely to pack the beaches in town. She told us that we should drive around to West Yarmouth and watch from the other side of the bay. We explained we weren't from Cape Cod at all and she said she would draw us a map. Two minute later, she'd drawn a DETAILED map with directions on how to get there, and said it was a great little secret of the area that only locals knew about. Turns out her directions were perfect. We avoided the bulk of the crowds, got a great parking spot with a short walk to a beach with an unhindered 180-degree view of the fireworks over the water. We also had a nice dinner. You can't ask for more than that.

Here's the TOC for my review: reservation/hostess, service, food, ambiance, overall Reservation/hostess: Made a reservation for 8:30, arrived at 8:15, got seated at 8:50p despite seeing open tables from the time we got there till the time we got seated. Obviously that wasn't great but we sat at the bar and had a few drinks from the nice bartenders. The hostess seemed scared to talk to us. The manager (main hostess? no idea....but she seemed in charge) treated us like we weren't classy enough to be there. Maybe because we're under 45 and I wasn't wearing a classy sweater and boat shoes. Service: AWESOME waitress! She was nice, attentive, funny, and just generally seemed to be a good person....of which I always like to deal with. She made up for any coldness we felt from the manager/head-hostess lady-woman-person. Food: We started with cups of Clam Chowdah.....HOLY SHNIKES!! It was delicious!!! For the entrees, I had lobster and my date had a salmon dish (I think). The lobster was solid, reasonably priced ($38 for 1.5 lbs), and came with mashed potatoes. You can't really mess up lobster so I got nothing to say about that, the potatoes were meh.... My date's dish was tasty, large portions, and very solid. Ambiance: It was chill....felt very old cape (even though I know nothing about the cape)....nothing amazing or terrible. Overall: The food was good, the service was okay (waitress=amazing, hostess=lackluster, waiting for open table despite there clearly being open tables and having made a reservation=pretty awful), ambiance was chill. Hence my 3/5 stars. Seems to be one of the nicer places you can go in that area and it was worth it to get some nice seafood and enjoy my experience on the cape.

ROADDDDDHOUSE (Cue 80s guitar solo in the background) Seriously think 80s because its like you're jumping in a god damn time machine in this place. It kind of feels like you walked into an old ski lounge back when madonna was rocking. Food was given in large portions but generally kind of bland. Got the chicken parm and was less than impressed. Drinks were ehhh, with a kind of crappy selection of beer. It seemed crazy packed so maybe im missing something? But I have to go though I vaguely hear some love shack playing on the juke box.

Interesting night...Ravioli appetizer under cooked...waiter apologized and got us another one. Undercooked again (didnt have the heart to tell him, so we just ate it anyway). My wife got a pasta dish with lobster meat, but it barley had any flavor. The waiter again apologized and brought her back a fried sole dish with risotto. She was much happier with that meal. I had the soy & ginger short ribs. It wasn't bad but wasn't great either. Not sure if it was just an off night but we heard our waiter apologize several times to multiple customers. Overall...staff was great but the food was a 4 out of 10. Surprised since the reviews online were fairly good. Will not be going back.

Went to dinner tonight at the Roadhouse. We live on the Cape year round and go once or twice a year. Tonight was worst experience we have had at this restaurant. We order a bottle of wine and the hot antipasto appetizer. While solid it was not exceptional. I have never had an oyster Rockefeller with bacon on it like a clam casino. My wife ordered chicken saltimbocca and I ordered the duck dish. My wife's dish had a piece of plastic in her main course. The waitress did replace it but the sauce was missing and the dish should not have been served with a piece of plastic. My duck dish was not seared properly with pieces off raw fat in them. I cut off the raw fat to eat it. When I did question if that was the way it was supposed to be prepared, I was told that is the way they prepare it. It did not seem to me to be a proper preparation of the duck. The best part of the dish was the mashed sweet potatoes. If you want chicken with plastic and raw duck fat this is your place. I will find other places to eat.

Some of our food was spectacular (clam chowder, shortrib ragout), some good (spinach salad), and some just okay (scallops with risotto). The service was very friendly. The prices are somewhat high, but you can tell that from looking at the menu, so at least it's not a surprise, and somehow we came out with a cheaper bill than we expected. But the real reason we came there was -- they have an electric vehicle charging station in their parking lot! It's the farthest out one on the Cape. So the extra we spent on dinner was made up in saved gas. The clam chowder isn't "thin", it's merely not gluey and super thick like cafeteria gravy. The liquid portion is about the thickness of a tomato soup, and there were lots and lots of bits of yummy things in it. The shortrib ragout with spinach, wanuts, and blue cheese was wonderful, and we spent the meal fighting over the plate. Next time we'd order two, except that it's so rich tasting we'd probably burst, so it'll have to be one order again.

Just returned from the Roadhouse. As full-time residents of the Cape, we frequently dine at the Roadhouse, Columbo's, and the Black Cat. Tonight we went to celebrate a family birthday and the food was excellent. Our waitress (MJ) was excellent and our dining room experience enjoyable. However, after our meal we decided to have a drink at the bar. When we requested our tab, we were given a tab (at which we really didn't look closely) that was for $44 or so. When the credit card receipt came back, the total was closer to $60. When we asked the bartender (I believe her name was Michelle) to see our tab again, she literally threw the tab at us with the comment "I gave you the wrong tab." She was correct--however--who does that?!? A simple "Oh, I'm sorry--I gave you the wrong tab" would have been fine, but the rudeness and lack of professionalism in throwing the correct tab at us (like it was our fault she screwed up!) would be totally unacceptable if I managed that restaurant. In fact, there were four of us at the bar who witnessed this total act of rudeness and one in our party actually commented "Oh--she's just a b___tch" Too bad the Roadhouse can't get a bartender with a better reputation--and I assure you, it will be a long time before we frequent any of the Columbo family restaurants again. There are too many other restaurants here on the Cape where one does not need to deal with this sort of thing.

Went for a dinner, was seated to next the kitchen door . very busy place and the waitress was so short and rude. She was in the hurry to get us out .. maybe the next seating was more important. Food was medioca... nothing really special. Not very pleasant experience . Many other places to spent my money.

We were given this recommendation by the front desk staff at the Cape Codder as a restaurant that could accommodate a gluten-free diner. Wow. Not only was the menu clearly labeled with the gluten free choices (and there were many options) the server was extremely knowledgeable on the preparation of these items and even suggested some ways that other items could be prepared as gluten free. Angela, the server was extremely helpful, very friendly and provided excellent service. Oh and the food... yes that was amazing as well. It was fresh, hot, perfectly seasoned and a huge portion. Would absolutely go there again and will pass on the recommendation to anyone traveling to this area.

The Roadhouse Cafe was the one spot where my parents and I were looking forward to once we crossed the bridge to enter Cape Cod. It is everything that you would want in a delicious, expensive meal. The wait staff is quick and polite. The food is delicious and filling. The ambiance is old style with elegance. It's the perfect anniversary/birthday/special occasion dinner place. My parents and I went on a Sunday night, but made reservations for 7:00 thinking that it would be busy, but there was actually no one there that night. I had a bowl of clam chowder, split the lobster quesadilla, split the arugula salad with goat cheese, then a scallop entree with lobster newburg sauce. Everything was delicious as expected. The one item I ordered on a hunch was the lobster quesadilla, which I was not too pleased with. It tasted delicious but there was two different sauces on it, plus guacamole, plus some salsa mixed inside with the lobster. It was good, but not exactly what I was looking forward to. I can't really give such a crazy detailed review of the Roadhouse mainly because it is that good that it doesn't really need one. Just go. Spend the money. Eat the food. Close your eyes when the check comes, sign, give it back, and tip the valet, then make someone else go buy you Four Seas Ice Cream. Everyone will enjoy the night.

Delicious food, great atmosphere, very attentive service initially. Service became slightly less than stellar as the meal progressed, but overall, a great meal!

I have to agree with some others on this restaurant, it was average at best. Not worth the money. I went becasue Cape Cod Magazine rated it Top 41 on the Cape - why, I have no idea. The beet salad, in addition to the heirloom tomato salad special were the best part of the meal. My wife and I had the yellowfin tuna and my sister-inlaw had the the day boat cod. Again, average at best and defintely not worth the $24+ per plate we paid. The rice on the cod plate looked like it been sitting around since 1pm, very dry and not appealing. The wasabi crusted yellowfin just lacked flavor, seemed very plain and no taste. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. There are others in Hyannis and the surrounding towns where you'll get a better tasting meal for a lot less money.

We love this restaurant. Food and service are consistent quality. One of your best choices for a good dinner no matter what your party size. My wife and I went last night and had another great meal. Clam chowder is one of the best on Cape Cod. I also had the lobster ravioli. Wow. Good. Steaks are always delicious and well prepared. Good salads. Great specials. It is pricy but worth it.

One good thing about the off season on the Cape is a chance to get a great deal during Restaurant Week. I used this as a chance to check out the Roadhouse, a place I've been wanting to try for quite a while. After eating there, i am kicking myself for not going years ago, it was great. The place has a nice atmosphere. It's like being in someones house, a variety of different rooms, beamed ceilings, a couple of fireplaces, and a piano in one room. The menu is huge and includes seafood, steak, pasta, and a great appetizer selection. The servers were on their game, friendly, prompt, generally made it a very enjoyable experience. For entrees, we had the veal Parmesan which you could cut with a fork it was so tender. We also had the chicken homard, chicken stuffed with lobster and cheese. Again, it was tremendous. They have an appetizer on the menu called the Roadhouse Antipasto Tower. It has everything from stuffed mushrooms to clams casino to scallops wrapped in bacon. I didn't get it on this visit, but I will be going back to climb that tower.

we arrived and was greeted by who i believe to be the owner ? the greet wasn't a verbal good evening followed by a warm smile but it was more like a disappointment that we werent of a social class high enough to experience his establishment ? He asked "do you have reservations ?" again giving us the impression hoping we didn't have one ? After all his attempts to make us feel welcomed failed, he walked us through a maze of rooms and dumped us somewhere just shy of the edge of the world. The clientele just reeked of snuffy locals looking to be pampered and the waitstaff was more than happy to oblige. Our waitress looked at us like we were aliens trying to decipher the menu. Although to her surprise we waltz through it without one grammatical error taking surgical expertise dissecting every last word making sure she understood it ? As the night progressed someone couldn't stop from fiddling with the lighting. The darker it got the more the discounted christmas tree center piece candles flickered helplessly trying to navigate us through the darkness. The air of ignorance was so thick no wonder the food didnt get hit with any of its drippings, surprisingly the food survived the negativity and nothing but positive vibes remain after its removal. Now if some of the fakeness can be removed (along with the decorational clutter and dust) out to the dumpster the exorcism might be successful.

Started with the crabcakes appetizer which were delicious. Someone had lobster bisque which was good but was not hot. All the meals we had were very good. Someone at our table had baked stuffed lobster which was too bready but the lobster meat was very good. Overall an excellent meal. Biggest gripe was it was way too dark. Could barely read the menu. Everyone at the different tables were using the flashlight app on their phones.

One of the best restaurants in Hyannis, Always the best service, we usually sit at the bar and Scott is one of the best bartenders and servers we have ever had take care of us. In the past we had young children and this is the place to go early (5:00pm) and have dinner, they cater to kids and special requests. We have been going for 27 plus years. Now our kids are grown and we enjoy sitting at the bar and having top notch service and wonderful a dinner! 5 stars always.

Awesome. I got the swordfish cooked to perfection, and as fresh as its gets. Some of the best I have had. Wife got the lobster bolognese which she can't wait to go back for more. Great atmosphere, and even live music if you head near the pub area.

Had my first experience at this restaurant this past weekend. We made a reservation for 6:15 but were a little late finding the place (our GPS was taking us everywhere but there!). Our car was parked by the very courteous valet, we were seated immediately, ordered wine promptly (they have an impressive selection!) and instantly overwhelmed by the menus. So many tasty things to choose from! My boyfriend ordered the tomato + mozzarella appetizer, which was excellent. The best mozzarella I've ever had! After weighing my options (the pan seared scallops with orange-ginger sauce? Sesame encrusted yellowfin tuna?), I ended up ordered the pan roasted duck breast that came with a side of cranberry pistachio relish and mashed sweet potatoes. Everything was delicious; I practically licked my plate clean! The only downsides to our evening: -The service was just the slightest bit slow, which was understandable, expected, and forgivable on a busy Saturday night in July. -The tables are astoundingly close together. I didn't end up minding that I was elbow to elbow with a total stranger, but it did put the kibosh on the "romantic" part of our evening.

I had very high expectations of this place based upon the fact that it is constantly packed and they have this huge sign proclaiming their award-winning chowder on the outside of the restaurant. In truth, it was fine, but I wouldn't give it anything higher than that. The restaurant is interesting on the inside. It would be romantic except for the fact that it is very loud...and very crowded, as aforementioned. The food is good. Very good. But, not anything unbelievable. I didn't walk out of there thinking, "OMG WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE MEAL!" It was tasty. The service was good in that our waitress was very nice and very helpful, but because the place was so busy, and she had so many patrons to take care of, it took a long time for her to get to us. All in all, I had a fine time here. The food was fine. The ambiance was fine. But, I was disappointed, given the number of accolades they seemed to tout.

Loved the live band and ambience. We came to Roadhouse because our hotel had a $6 off coupon for it. I had the Crab and Seaweed Salad as my entree....there was more crab than salad vege, 2 fistfulls of crab were dunked on the plate.....!!! The lobster bisque was wayyyy to creamy though. P.S Sweets in the jar at the entrance are the best mints I've ever had.

The food was outstanding. I had the scallop / bacon appetizer. It went above and beyond the usual rendition of this appetizer. I then had the stuffed pork chop which was very good. The service was outstanding and we got to listen to the live Jazz music which was a plus. This is a definite go to again restaurant.

We are currently visiting Cape Cod for my husband's training course, but I tagged along since it fell on the dates of our anniversary. I searched Yelp for advice on some highly recommended places to eat and initially decided to try out another restaurant when I caught a glance of Roadhouse Cafe from the outside passing by. It looked elegant and romantic, so we decided to change plans after we confirmed on Yelp that it had good reviews. We didn't have reservations, arrived at 7pm, and were still seated at a nice table in the back room where they featured a live pianist. My first impression of the place was that it was much larger on the inside than it looked on the outside! The decor was classic, with dim lighting to set the mood. The wait staff was helpful and courteous, going as far as to recommend some places in the Cape that we needed to check out during our visit. I can also say that fellow diners at the restaurant were super nice and personable. A woman at the table next to us must have overheard us deciding on ordering the lobster bake (which she and the rest of her family had all just ordered and didn't finish), because she intervened and told us that she wanted us to order something else because she "didn't want us to waste our money." We took her advice and ordered instead some steak, boiled lobster tails, and a seafood casserole. All dishes were great. We would definitely dine here again and will recommend this restaurant to any of our friends that we know plan to visit Cape Cod in the future.

My wife and I came to Hyannis for the weekend and read great things about Roadhouse Cafe. We got reservations for Friday night with no issues, arrived and were seated promptly. Wait staff was friendly and courteous, and the ambience was classic New England. Had a very warm, busy feel to the place. I tried a cup of their award winning clam chowder and it was bar-none some of the best I've had in years. We ordered swordfish, salmon and key lime pie, all of which were excellent with large portions. It's a little bit pricey, but well worth the money and I would definitely go back and recommend it to friends.

Valet service at the restaurant. Very nice ambience inside, although the tables are a bit tight. Waitstaff was courteous. I inquired whether I could have a small version of the gnocchi as a side which I was told they could not do. I ordered the blackened tuna w fruit salsa which was delicious! My husband ordered the cedar plank salmon and said it was excellent. He also had the clam chowder and said it was the best he ever had. We stayed for dessert and had the key lime pie which was fairly good. Definitely did not disappoint.

Came here for a nice dinner with the girlfriend not knowing what to expect. The interior seemed a little dated, but it was charming. The kind of place your eyes wander the room while you wait for your food and you notice all kinds of different things. I recall the lighting was a little lackluster, I had a somewhat difficult time reading my menu. My girlfriend and I both got the same dish: Filet Mignon and Lobster. She got her lobster steamed, I got mine baked and stuffed. It came neatly cleaned out and full of a delicious (albeit a tad salty) stuffing, and a half-dozen scallops, which were FANTASTIC. The steak was cooked exactly how I ordered it and was absolutely delicious. Even the sides (which I tend to ignore if I'm eating filet and lobster) were excellent. The asparagus had a char on it from the grill that really complimented the normal flavor of the vegetable. I found myself literally SMILING while I was eating because I was enjoying my dish so much. I think my girlfriend thought I was crazy. I even sent my compliments to the chef via the waiter. We both got soups, which also deserve an honorable mention. She got the clam chowder, and I got the haddock chowder. Both were very tasty. Between our dinners, soups, her drink, and the tip, it was pretty pricey, but I didn't even mind paying because it was just so great.

Oh, dear God, this place is good. I took my gf there for her birthday a few years ago... and here I have to say that this is a place I could ONLY go to for a special occasion. It's pricey. But the food is so. freaking. good. I had this seafood bake thing that had lobster, cod, shrimp, and maybe oysters baked into a cracker crust. I'm salivating right now just thinking about it. It's just a nice place... white tablecloths, piano, the whole nine. Love it and perhaps one day when I'm a rich retiree on Cape Cod, I'll go back...

We went on a Sunday night and were pleasantly surprised by our meal. Italian fare. On the expensive side. The mozzarella-tomato salad, seared sea scallops, and fra diavolo were all excellent. The tiramisu was absolutely decadent and delicious. We would definitely return to this restaurant.

Really cool place with an old-school feel but not pretentious at all. We lucked out and on a Monday night there was a really good jazz band playing in a room off the bar, which gave some great ambience. Got the Osso Bucco which was really, truly outstanding. My fiancee's shrimp pasta was also excellent. Definitely a place I would go to again!

One words describes this place: AWESOME!! Food was absolutelly delicious, atmosphere was great, drink selection was great. That guy Tom who complained about the "80's atmosphere": you are an idiot! Food was bland?!? What?!? They had the best mashed potatoes I have ever had! The dry aged steak was phenomenal, and the "el carne" pizza was perfect!

A friend and I had dinner here yesterday. We were not disappointed. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and were promptly seated. The restaurant's interior was nicely decorated and very comfortable. Our waitress introduced herself and was very friendly. I ordered the Caribbean Stew (shrimp and scallops in a rice bed smothered in spices and coconut), along with some raw littlenecks as an appetizer. The waitress promptly delivered 6 littlnecks which were very fresh, clean and tasted great. It was then followed by a fresh green salad with a home made creamy italian dressing which was very good. It was followed by the stew which was also very good (and very rich). I couldn't finish it all! A very nice experience, great food and great service.......

Was completely unaware that Roadhouse existed, hidden behind Main Street. I've been to Columbo's a number of times, and I think Roadhouse nails it even better. A bit overwhelmed by the sheer size and depth of the menu (all printed in tiny, tiny slab serif font... sigh) I dove into the wine menu first. We chose an off the shelf beer and a glass of malbec that was lovely. Skipping apps, we both went for parmesean, myself the veal, and my date the chicken. The salad that appeared first was a great italian light dressing, not overdone. The parmeseans themselves were both fabulous, as was the pasta and sauce. This was really authentically great high end italian... the service was truly attentive (almost too much so, it was empty on a Wed. night). The seafood items on menu seemed great, and the specials needed their own page. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

So disappointed! Undercooked pork, bland swordfish; dated, dark, dank setting; blue hair club out in full force; unsophisticated. The appeal of the Roadhouse (and Hyannis in general) is definitely lost on us... Heading to Newport,RI...

Finally a meal that I could call great on the cape. In an area that is so rich in seafood and tourism, you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a restaurant that has decent food. In the end you have to pay for it though. The Roadhouse Cafe is not cheap even though the name makes it seem like a hillbilly bar from a Patrick Swayze movie. That couldn't be further from the truth. From the moment you enter the parking lot, with valet parking, you will feel special and well cared for. Our waitress was especially friendly and attentive. The dining room is very dimly lit and the service is drawn out, so make it a date night rather than a quick bite. I ordered the clams casino for an appetizer which was on the small side and nothing incredible but the Seafood Fra Diavolo entree was a good sized portion full of lobster, shrimp, and most notably scallops in a flavorful and spicy marinara sauce. If you do go I highly suggest reservations. We went on a weekday night around 7 or so in the "off season" and the hostess seemed hesitant in giving us a table.

The Roadhouse is a great restaurant! My favorite is the Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail, both are always cooked to perfection. Their Lobster Bisque is also out of this world. They have a great atmosphere and the service is excellent.

My boyfriend and I went to the Cape for a romantic weekend and our concierge recommended driving to Hyannis to go to the Road House Cafe. They said that on Monday nights they had good jazz music. We made a reservation as recommended. When we got there it was jammed packed and only one table left that was reserved for us with our menus already on it. Love that. The busser came by right away and offered us water (There were bottles of water already on the table ready for us, and if you asked for just tap, they cleared the bottle away and came back with a pitcher). Our server came over pretty promptly as well, offered us drinks, informed us of the special, and then when we informed her of my BF being a vegetarian she gave some options (not many. I would not recommend this place for a vegetarian, unless they were a vegetarian who loved jazz, cause then the music alone is worth it to have just a salad or veg pasta.) Our server was well informed, she new the menu and was able to answer any and all questions, however I would not mark her as very friendly. She wasnt mean, just very to the point, like professional and stiff. I like to be greeted with a nice smile and maybe even some small talk. Like "Good evening folks, how are you?" Not just straight to the, "May I get you something to drink or answer any questions for you." I think you should hello first. Also... we called ahead of time just to make sure that the jazz was still happening. The first time I called they told me it went till 11. The second time I called to make a reservation they told me that jazz went till 10. (The first person must have been mis informed, cause when we arrived there was a flyer saying that it was Monday nights till 10.) With this being said, I was upset that the jazz stopped at 9:35. We made a 9:00 reservation thinking that we would get an hour of jazz, If we had known that they were going to stop playing at 9:30ish we would have DEFINITELY made an earlier reservation. The jazz was awesome, I was blown away by the quality, I expected something quaint and I was pleasantly surprised with some quality jazz. The food was delicious, well made, beautiful presentation, and yummy. That was awesome. I will definitely be back. :) Overall I would say if you are in the area, check this place out. Worth the drive out of the Cape to Hyannis.

I visited the Roadhouse Cafe this past week while spending a few days away at the Cape. I thought the food was excellent, about as good as it gets on the cape. I had the blackened swordfish, the award-winning New England Chowder, and the Baby Arugala salad. The chowder is a must have - some subtle herbs/spices that made it different from any I have ever tasted. The Swordfish was one of the best I have had recently. It came with Jasmine rice, and some type of hommade salsa, which I really enjoyed. The salad was good also.

Great atmosphere and excellent service by our waitress, Nadia. The hostess at the door? Not so friendly. The Food: Appetizers-We had Mussels in Marinara and Special Ravioli. The Mussels were large but the sauce could have been improved with more garlic and a touch of hot pepper flakes. (it was good but, Colombo's is better). The special Proscuitto filled ravioli was very good. Main Courses: We had 2 pasta dishes and 2 meat dishes. The pasta dishes were very good, especially the seafood Diavolo (but it's expensive). The meat dishes were very bland. The marinara on the Chicken Parm is a weak attempt and the pasta side was disgusting. I had the Chicken Saltimbocca (one of my favorite foods): it was very poorly done. First, it's not Saltimbocca with marsala wine. It was poorly seasoned and dry. This was missing key components of Saltimbocca, like butter, sage, brandy and white wine. Deserts were good.

Mary, whose been a server there for over 25 years, made the excellent meal, even better. The martinis were large, and excellent. ($11). The peno noir pour was ok. And the wine good. Chicken Parmesan, large and very good. Maybe $23. The manager/supervisor, a retired teacher, came around to be sure we were all happy. (We were). I'll be back

We come yearly around this time of year. Had four diners tonight. Two filets, 1 sirloin, and 1 fra Diavlo. Filets looked ok, until a bug was found in one. That was returned and taken off the check but not offered a new dish. Sirloin was sent back as was over cooked. This was redone but came out so slowly all other meals were finished. The sauce then was bland. No consistency. I stopped eating the Diavlo as I was disgusted with the service and food results. Service was very slow ( 2 hours without apps or dessert). Waitress apologized that this season was the worst in her 10 years as the cook staff was entirely new. The manager took two meals off and gave us coupons to the black cat ( other restaurant they own). During the meal we overheard both tables near us send back their oysters (smelled bad) and the other table said the service was the worst they've ever had there. Sounds like this is not a good time to be going here with the new staff. It was a Thursday so expect that this is going to be the norm until they work the kinks. Again we go here yearly so this isn't what we expect for what you have to pay.

We made a reservation for a Tuesday evening a 6pm. We arrived and the table for 2 they offered us had us closer to the people at the next table then we were to each other. It was uncomfortable for us and the people at the adjacent table. We went back and requested a better table which there were several empty tables. We were told that was all they had. We were there on time for our reservation and better tables were available??? Not sure what they were thinking, but we left and will not return. It is their lose we dine out a bit. So good luck to you if you chose to go there.

Very disappointed. Tacky, old fashioned building and very unhip atmosphere. I went here before catching a show at the Melody tent and was excited to have some nice fresh seafood since we are on the cape. The food was expensive and not good. Didn't eat the salad because of the thick, bottled heavy dressing. The salmon was bland and the quality was not satisfying. The sautéed spinach was even terrible. I hardly ate my meal which never happens. I would not recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I come here every chance we get when we are in town. We enjoy an after dinner drink or coffee and their wonderful desserts. A favorite place to come in the winter to sit by the fireplace. Staff always friendly and helpful, food consistent and tasty. Salmon is wonderful. Could use more French wines in my opinion.

My wife and I dined here tonight. We were able to secure reservations via their website and UReserve. We had to make a couple of changes to the reservations as our harbor cruise was late. We thought we were helping the business by updating but when we arrived, the manager made a snide remark to the hostess about us changing times. Not a great start. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgable of the menu. We had bussers refilling our waters extremely fast and fresh bread and oil/seasoning was served. All very good. I ordered the blackened swordfish with mango salsa and jasmine rice. Delicious! Swordfish was well cooked, juicy, spiced to perfection. The salsa was a nice touch-good to mix something sweet like that with the spicy seasoned swordfish-although they used a little too much for me personally. The rice was a little on the bland side but not too bad. My wife ordered the 8oz filet mignon with smashed potatoes and broccoli. She enjoyed her steak immensely but said it was a tad over cooked and she would have liked it a bit more seasoned. Also $33 for an 8 oz filet is a bit steep, whereas my huge swordfish filet was only $26. She did love her smashed potatoes and the broccoli was steamed and plated with the meal. We skipped dessert but would definitely come back. Just make sure you don't make any changes to your reservations!

Had a "hit and miss" dinner at The Roadhouse Tuesday night. Crab cakes were delicious but the sauce and salsa were tasteless (except the cilantro in the salsa which I don't like). It looked like a mango salsa and sauce. The pork chop stuffed with spinach, roasted peppers and mozzarella with port demi-glace was delicious as well but the carrots were not seasoned or "dressed" with anything at all and the garlic mashed potatoes were cold. Also, the waitress kept asking me (3 times) if I wanted another cocktail when I had only sipped the one drink I ordered. I had brought a friend from out of town to this place because of its reputation in Hyannis. I don't think I'll go again.

Last week, on vacation down the Cape, I had my best meal at this restaurant. The food, atmosphere and waitstaff were all fabulous. we had an appetiser that was a special. It was mushroom ravioli. It was out of this world. I had the beef tips and my husband had the baby back ribs. Both were great and had delicious sides, such as garlic mash potatoes and asparagus. Out waitress was fantastic and personable. great night all around. Would definaly make it a priority to go back the next time we are in town.

We've been dining at the Roadhouse since the early 80s. We had a so-so meal there in July 2013 but decided to give it another try this weekend. We made a reservation for 6:30 pm on Fri July 3rd. You'd think that 4th of July weekend the place would be packed but it was anything but. The restaurant wasn't even half full. When we asked for a both in the bar (3 f the 4 were open) they accomodated us but told us we'd need to wrap things up for an incoming 8 pm reservation. Fine - but there were still 2 additional booths available when we left at 8 pm. Positive: The hosts were very nice. Our server Jenna was wonderful! Super friendly. The bussers were always checking in/refilling waters, etc. Negative: The food was not at all what I remember. We started with the shrimp cocktail and the fried oysters. The shrimp cocktail was good. Shrimp were fresh. But the oysters were terrible. 1) They were luke warm and 2) the bellies were so big they were inedible. The fried oysters at the Roadhouse's sister restaurant (The Black Cat) are 100 times better. For entrees we had the fra diavlo ($34) and roasted day boat schrod ($21). The fra diavlo was dry (barely any sauce) and for the $$ did not include a lot of seafood. The schrod was also dry and tasteless. It was as if it was completely unseasoned. We didn't stay for dessert and will not be returning any time soon.

One word: excellent! From the drinks and appetizers, to their seafood and pasta, steak is phenomenal. All their dishes just exude flavor and careful preparation. I love this place. I came here for the first time four years ago. My fiance and I came here for valentines day, and then came back for three years in a row. Tonight I had the steak tips with gorgonzola coleslaw. The tips were juicy and still cooked the way I asked for them. The crab cakes were veey good, not loaded with breading..just pure crabby goodness. Service is always precise and speedy. Love this place

There was five of us and we had a fantastic dinner. This place is a must, it has the old world charm. The drinks were out of this world. The blueberry one is a must. The apps we order crab cakes, stuffed mushrooms and calamari were delicious. The meals were cooked perfectly and were ample portions. The desserts especially the tiramisu was so good that I could not stop eat it even thought I know I was full. Our waitress was Ryan, who was outstanding, could not ask for a better waitress. One of the best restaurants on the cape.

I should preface this (mostly) glowing review by saying my husband and I got to go here on a very rare date night, so I was very excited to be out sans little person to begin with. We sat at the bar which was an even bigger treat, as we don't get to do that much nowadays. The bar staff was comprised of 2 very friendly and seasoned female bartenders who make us feel very welcome. Immediately loved the feel of the place, lots of old charm and an overall relaxing vibe. I chose the Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc, which is now my absolute white. The beer, wine, and cocktail offerings were stellar. Not one part of the food disappointed. We had the tuna appetizer which was some of the most vibrant red tuna I have seen in a long while. We then shared the beet goat cheese salad - absolutely fantastic. I ordered the lobster bisque as my entree. I do not ever want to know the calorie count for that concocotion, but it was worth every spoonful! My husband has the fra diavlo and it was hands-down the best one either of us have ever tasted. It actually had a flavorful spicy kick, not just crushed red pepper flakes in marinara. Loaded with seafood. A real gem. I debated about sharing the one demerit for Roadhouse, as it was surprising and hopefully just a momentary lapse in judgement on the part of the manager. A gentleman, who we could only deduce had some sort of managerial role came and sat at the end of the bar as everyone was finishing up (it was nearly 11:30 or so). To our surprise, he put his feet UP ON THE BAR. I am by no means a stiff or a stickler for ettiquette, but this left a bad taste in my mouth after such a wonderful evening. It just felt wrong in many ways, for sanitary reasons as well as respect for the bar itself, patrons, and bartenders. If you want to do that after everyone has gone fine. As a former bartender/waitress, I know the feeling of wanting to put your feet up and have a drink at the end of a long shift, but please wait until your patrons (who spent a decent amount of money all night!) have gone home. Despite the ending, we will definitely return next time in Hyannis and highly recommend this place overall!

The Roadhouse is an institution in Hyannis. I've been coming here for about 15 years and the food, service, and atmosphere are amazing. I love getting the raw oysters for an appetizer and every meal on the menu is delicious.

Spectacular service and exquisite cuisine. Came here with family and was nicely surprised. Kids were happy, pasta with great tomato sauce, filet mignon cooked perfectly. We tried specials, swordfish it was great.. Mushrooms ravioli, just great. Nice surprise.. Next year we will deff be back.

Perhaps it's a good family style restaurant (an expensive one at that,) but fine dining? yikes.

Love love love always. Rustic fine dining at its best. Seafood and steaks are always great. Can't go wrong. Great option for fining dining in Hyannis. Yes it's not cheap, but I think it's worth it.

Awesome. I got the swordfish cooked to perfection, and as fresh as its gets. Some of the best I have had. Wife got the lobster bolognese which she can't wait to go back for more. Great atmosphere, and even live music if you head near the pub area.

This place is amazing! Our waitress was so friendly and helpful in choosing what to order. I had the sole Milanese, which may have been one of the best seafood dishes I have had. My friend had the chicken homard which was still good, but I would recommend that you order a seafood dish here.

Spectacular. The lobster quesadillas are amazing. The photos don't do it justice - very nicely done and upscale. Excellent food and service. Average to high in price but the quality makes up for it.
