We came to Hull for our 1 year anniversary and stopped here for an app. We sat upstairs because the view is so beautiful. We had the stuffed mushrooms with lobster sauce and it was to die for, it was like having lobster bisque with crab stuffed mushrooms. We had the best waitress her name is Casey she is so nice and personable. I would totally recommend the Red Parrot.

We went there looking for a nice sea food dinner the service was awful as well as the food. Every thing was just about cold. We mention it to waitress and she said they are very busy sorry. The rest rooms were very dirty. We not go back

The food was terrible. But I'll give one star for the view and another for the service.

We went in for drinks on Thursday night, we haven't had the best service there in the past so we were hesitant but are so glad that we did we met Brandon who was a fantastic bartender and made perfect drinks for us we also had a lot of jokes and a great time overall we will definitely be back

I really want to love this place, but Red Parrot makes it so hard to. The first time we came here was in the late fall. We ordered lobster bisque, a lobster roll, calamari, and stuffed shrimp. The food was EXCELLENT. The lobster bisque was the best we've ever had. It was thick and creamy and had huge chunks of lobster. We had pretty low expectations of the place, but food blew us away. HOWEVER, it took the kitchen 45 minutes to bring us anything. Our waitress was very nice and kept checking on us and apologizing. The restaurant wasn't even particulary busy and our food took forever. We eventually came for a second visit given that our food the first time around was good when we got it. Unfortunately, our 2nd visit turned out to be horrible. We got there around 12:30pm, and were told after we sat down and ordered that the kitchen would be closing at 1pm, but since we put in our order already, it shouldn't be a problem. Turns out that the restaurant was holding a huge event - a motorcycle rally in honor of the police officer who was shot in the face in the line of duty. I would estimate close to 75 people came to Red Parrot that day for the event. And understandably you can only accomodate so many people without allowing quality to suffer. However, they knew this in advance and really shouldn't have been open for the public if they were doing such a huge event. I'd call that a really really poor management call. Once again, our food took about an hour to come out to us, which my boyfriend and i really couldn't understand why. We ordered our beloved lobster bisque and a lobster roll. These dishes aren't usually made on demand, but rather made in bulk. The 2nd experience really just x'ed Red Parrot off of our list. If you're at the beach and wanting something to eat, just make sure you have a lot of time to spare and aren't terribly hungry.

Awful food .. Awful service! Went there on a Sunday afternoon and asked the hostess if the roof deck was open for lunch ... Her response was "I don't know? I'm working on this floor, not upstairs!" We finally found seats at the little deck beside the bar downstairs ... Waited for a while and then figured out that we had to go to the bar to order our drinks and food. Thought at first that the bartender was entertaining with his witty attitude "I'm fairly new at this so we will see how your food comes out! I'm not too worried since I won't be delivering it.. There's a food runner!"... Huh!?? We had to get up from our table and find paper plates and plastic silverware ... The hostess appeared with tiny beverage napkins instead of dinner napkins. ... Lots of confusion all around... How are they not staffed properly on a Sunday afternoon in summer? The food was awful.. Sour tasting lobster roll ... Do NOT get the Greek salad! Even a waitress who dropped the food off suggested that it looked gross!!!! Whaaaaaat!??? The bartender finally yelled across the bar that our check was $89 ... We saw no receipt... Nothing! He did the same with another customer ... We won't ever be back.. It was awful... Really really awful ...

Tonight was my first and LAST experience at the Red Parrot. I have always driven by the Red Parrot and thought the rooftop seating over Nantasket Beach looked like a great spot to eat on a summer night. Boy, was I wrong. Our waitress was very sweet. However, service was soooo slow. Parts of the rooftop deck were coming up, not very safe. The plastic chairs you sit in were filthy. The table was not very sturdy. The rooftop was overcrowded with tables and chairs people could barely squeeze through to get to their seats and you could see the waitresses struggling to serve meals. A bucket filled with napkins, plastic silverware, ketchup, etc stood in the middle of each table....these were filthy looking too. The waitresses shorts barely covering their asses!!! I had a classic cheeseburger.... Wendy's serves a better burger than the Red Parrot. My daughter's clam chowder I thought tasted cold. I watched the table next to us send back cold chicken nachos. Do not waste your time or money on this place. It is absolutely disgusting.

I wish there were minus stars. Absolutely horrible. Bad service would be a compliment. Atrocious. We were seated in a booth which was already occupied by more flies than a dump. The waitress came over after maybe 15 minutes & took our drink order. She managed to wait on other tables and other than our drinks, she never came back. I ended up putting money on the table since we had waited nearly 30 minutes with empty cups. As we were walking out the waitress just looked at me. I explained we had been waiting and she never came back. She walked away & I took my daughter to the ladies room where she was outside talking to another coworker telling the story and saying F them, F her. Wow. Classy. Absolutely disgusting.

We had a sub-par experience here. Food was not as good as I would have liked it to be. Placed an order for a chicken Cesar wrap and it tasted like the chicken was days old and dry. Upon further inspection of the inside of the wrap the chicken was indeed old. As for the atmosphere it is a cool little beach style restaurant with a couple of floors. There are bars on each floor but the bottom floor has live music which is cool. Service was a little slow and it wasn't a busy time of the day when we went. Overall this was a one and done experience for us.

We came here one night before one of the back-to-back-to-back blizzards that pummeled New England in 2015. The restaurant was virtually empty and for a Friday night, that should have been a red flag. Well, first and foremost, there was a fraction of an inch of snow on the ground and I practically fell flat on my face from a restaurant with wet floors. I should have turned around decided to go home after that. Since the restaurant portion was rather empty, we opted to sit upstairs. The windows overlooking the beach are nice, but in the winter, they are rather drafty. So be aware. I opted for the mussels appetizer. They were a little rubbery, but the scampi sauce was actually really good. The menu was recently revamped and they had a paleo menu with baked sweet potato and a turkey burger (no bun) that looked really good. At best, the turkey burger and sweet potatoes were just underwhelming. The burger was definitely a little well done, but it wasn't terrible. I will probably return once the weather is nicer and the kitchen can work out problems.

I live in Alaska, and come to Massachusetts about once a year to visit my family. One of my top priorities (besides visiting my mom, brothers, sister's-in-law and nieces and nephews) when I'm in Mass. is to get LOBSTAH!. For the past 20+ years, the Red Parrot has been our 'go to' for Sunday brunch and LOBSTAH, because of the service, the beautiful view of Nantasket and, yes, LOBSTAH! But it was not the case today. Since we have been able to check menus online, Red Parrot did not have lobster on their menu, but when you called, they ALWAYS had a single or twin steamed or baked lobster as a special. However, my brothers had heard that the food had gone downhill since we were last there in 2013. Today, on day 11 of my 13 day visit, my mom and I finally got to have our lobster date. We were furniture shopping for her down in Stoughton and Avon, and considered some other places between Avon and Weymouth who did not have lobster on their online menus. After calling a few that Mom felt sure had lobster (to no avail), I went to the Red Parrot website, and lo and behold, Single or Twin lobster dinners are now on their regular menu. Despite my brothers' warnings, I figured, "How can you screw up lobster (unless you boil it to death rather than steam it), and Red Parrot has always had a great lobster dinner. The prices listed on their online menu were more than reasonable. So, Mom and I headed to the Red Parrot, me drooling for my annual LOBSTAH! By the way, a Hull native recommended Jake's, (did not even mention Red Parrot) but noted that Jake's can be expensive. I had checked their online menu, and they didn't have lobster on their menu either. We arrived at Red Parrot around 7pm, and got a very close parking spot, despite the crowded roof top bar and lower bar area. However, anticipation took a nose dive from here on out: - (minus) 2 Two guys were smoking, leaning on the base of the only stairs to the entrance, and could not be bothered to move out of the way so that my 87 year old mother could use the handrail (they were too close to the building to be smoking according to the laws, and employees were allowing them to stay where they were). + 1 We were pleasantly greeted by a young lady, professionally dressed for the hot weather in colorful bubble shorts and a sleeveless blouse. - 2 The hostess was the ONLY staff person we saw walking around with shorts that were longer than the tiny ones that barely cover the tush. All the other waitresses were sporting super mini shorts. NOTE: I am not a prude. I dressed like that when I was their age and had the body to pull it off, but NOT to WORK!!!!! (If I was a lifeguard, yes, but not as a server in a restaurant that is not called Hooters or Tilted Kilt). - 3 (although we didn't realize it yet) Our waitress gave us a mediocre greeting, sporting super short, barely cover the tush running shorts, and a T-shirt that said, "Got Lobster?" + 2 Mom and I each ordered a Pinot Grigio, which came out promptly, and the waitress asked if we were ready to order. - 6 (yes, I skipped a bunch of minuses) We both ordered the twin lobster dinner. "Oh, let me check, I'm not sure we have lobster today." What!!!! "Got Lobster?" Yeah, I guess her T-shirt should have been a warning. Mom: "If they don't have lobster, we're leaving!" Sure enough, no lobster...... BYE! Called Jake's from the parking lot: "Of course we have lobster! Steamed, stuffed, rolls, however you want it! We went to Jake's..... Read my 5 star review on Jake's Yelp page.

We came here for lunch after a nice hike at World's End in Hingham. Despite reading numerous poor reviews we found the views, the service and the food to be very good. I wouldn't hesitate coming back or referring to someone. We started witha Nacho appetizer. My daughter and hwr friend had mac & cheese, my wife had chicken Caesar wrap and I had a greek salad. All were excellent. Our server, Monica, was very pleasant and very helpful.

horrific service; waited 30 minutes for a server and no one showed; went and asked for service and still no one showed; left and went to another place nearby. other than that the view looked nice and what food was served around me looked ok; but this place needs more help or a makeover.

Not possible to give fewer stars. 15 minutes and we never got the drinks we ordered and no one came by to ask about food even after we asked twice for a waiter. Although I think we were lucky as the place was filled with flies.

Hands down the worst possible place to ever eat or stop for a drink. The food comes out wrong and tastes horrible. The staff is clueless and they change help like underwear. I can't believe they can pay their rent. Couple of great places next door... Just keep walking past this shit hole.

I was weary to go here due to all of the negative reviews this place has gotten. The husband and I stopped by here for some lunch today, and we were not disappointed. It was beautiful out, so we wanted to sit on the roof deck. We were promptly greeted and sat. Our waitress came right over and took our order, and was helpful in offering menu suggestions. I was actually surprised at how quickly we got our food, and was pleasantly surprised that everything tasted fresh and delicious. He got the fish tacos, and I got the pork tacos. I wasn't blown away by the beer (My beer was the last one in the keg, apparently), but..nothing could have taken away from the beautiful waterfront. I'd definitely stop here again if we ever decide to make a trek back into Hull!

This place is a two. It's still cool but defiantly a two experience. On the upside you can wear your bathing suit there for dinner after swimming and watch a partially obstructed but still nice sunset from your table on the rooftop patio. On the downside: the food takes forever your appetizers and entrées will come out at the same time and you'll be told by the waitstaff "You got to expect that on the roof deck at the red parrot." Do not order a burger either, stick to the fried food and you should be good. Average beers and one semi-OK IPA on tap, they have good mixed drinks though. Bathroom is pretty creepy and smells like pee but that's what you expect at a bar so I'm told; even though the place is sold as a family dinner spot. I will tell you that if you're date is cold they sell sweatshirts in the gift shop. They will not sell you one of these sweatshirts even after the bar back tells you "I can sell you one I just need to get the manager," you will be told they are sold out. I know you can still see the sweatshirts don't think about it...

The location is amazing! If you are looking for a drink overlooking the beach this is the place. However, if you are looking for great food with that drink, keep looking. The food was less desirable than traditional bar food. The service at the outside deck bar was also a little spotty. We originally sat at a table hoping to have some appetizers and drinks, but realized the only way we may actually get a drink was to move to the bar. Well we were finally able to order but was less than impressed with both the service and the quality of food.

The service was terrible. We waited an hour for our food and the live band was incredibly inappropriate for a sunday afternoon with family and children. Not worth the wait. There were children as bus boys and the waitresses were a waste of payroll.

If there ever was a good reason for a tidal wave to take out a building it would be for this dump ! One of the worst places I have ever been! Wait staff could not have been any slower, table next to us waited twenty five minutes for just their drink order. Drinks came in plastic cups , really, what is this, a high school party ? Fish tacos, made by reject Burger King cooks ! where was the fish, soggy taco wraps looked like the just cleaned the counter top with them. Just a bad experience, never, never again. One more thing, uncomfortable plastic chairs, what were they from, a high school graduation party !

The food is average at best and the service is slow. Local restaurant that is better off just serving beer and apps and staying away from cooking dinners. I will not go again and will spend my money somewhere else.

I'm only giving one star because no stars was not an option. We went with kids, we were there an hour before the kids food was brought out. After waiting another 30 mins still without food for the adults we had to leave and take it to go. The eggs were way over cooked the potatoes were bland and I think the Mac n cheese was easy mac that had been cooked at least the day before. The only thing redeemable about the place was the cheap Bloody Mary.

This is one of the four places right on the front at Nantasket. And that's why they don't need to try. They abuse the clientele knowing there will be a new crop next weekend. Drinks weak enough for children and seafood old enough it could kill you. Hey, I actually know the owners, too! So this isn't personal. I just wish it would close and move into the 21st century. Enjoy!

4/12/15. Walked in and was not greeted for at least 15 mins. Once we sat down. Took another 15 mins to get a waitress and then 45 mins for 2 kids burgers and a lobster roll. The owners should buy uniform shirts so you know who actually works here. Oh look someone just got up and left because nobody came to there table. There is absolutely no management here.

Thoroughly unimpressed by the Easter brunch. Usually not so bitter as to leave 1-star ratings, but this one is worthy. The star is for the view. - we weren't sure of where to come in. Signage was poor and no one greeted us at the door. - Since no one was there checking us in, 2 of us went to the bar to get drinks. After standing at the not-very-busy bar for several minutes, the bartender first acknowledged us to tell us, "if we didn't want to wait, there's a bar on the other side." So we went to that bar, except the lights were out and no one was tending it. As I was leaving that area a little bewildered, the original bartender was nearby talking to a colleague complaining about the demanding customers. - Finally we were seated. They couldn't make 3/5 drinks: 2 were cocktails that they didn't have ingredients to, another was because they had no Sam Adams. Repeat: no Sam Adams at a Boston-area bar. The cocktails they could make were awful, definitely not fresh ingredients. - Buffet was strongly lacking. Everything was bottom-of-the-barrel. Half of the stuff wasn't out. Dessert was being served out of a cardboard box on top if the bread. - and here's what ultimately inspired this review: the 91-year old cutting the roast beef cut himself at the station. His glove filled with blood, all the while standing at the roast beef. To clean the wound and dress it, they took him to the corner of the room in full view of patrons. - When informed of our dissatisfaction, the staff were wholly disinterested. One stated flat-out that he didn't care. Don't need to come here ever again.

I had a horrible experience at this restaurant . When I first came in it took about 10 minute to be greeted. We already knew what we wanted so we ordered right away . We got a burger and a bowl of chowder . It took about 50 minutes for our food to come out . The food was room temperature and the burger bun was soggy. The chowder had no flavor. This is the second time I have been to this restaurant . I tried to give it a second chance and I was still very disappointed. I will not be going back.

This place is absolute horrendous. We waited for 45 minutes to have the wrong food brought by. It was a table of 5. I don't understand how it could possibly take that long. Then they ended up running out of the food that two people ordered. If they didn't have a good view there is no way they'd even be open. I could have bought the ingredients and cooked my eggs on a spoon like a heroin addict faster than the kitchen put out food.

Decided to come here on a Sunday afternoon after discovering that Schooners was not opening till 4pm. That being said. A lot of their offerings were unavailable because they had had a busy Saturday. Ordered to go: Got the stuffed quahogs. Amazingly good. Super tasty, better than Ive had at other seafood restaurants. So kudos' to that app. I wanted to try something from the paleo menu that is offered. I had read the menu that was posted online. It was a different one from the actual in house menu. I couldn't find anything worth trying that I couldn't make on my own. So I asked for the Portuguese style pulled pork sammy "with out " the bun....considering if they can do a paleo turkey burger they could do the same with the pulled pork. The hostess was confused as to how to make that possible for a 2 go order. Another worker who was organizing menus at the front of the house also said it wasn't possible. .....I was just confused , so was going to stick with the quahogs. A third lady, who seemed very managerial asked me what the prob was and what I was asking for. She plugged that no bun right into the computer system and then went to the kitchen to make sure the order went through correctly. Not only was she super accommodating, she organized the pork to be put on an amazingly delicious spinach salad that was topped with a hearty portion of goat cheese, cranberries, roasted red peppers and onions, and what looked to be more almonds or some sort of pumpkin seed. (instead of coming with fries) For only about a dollar more I got a great meal. Thank u to that lady, it made the trip worth it. And get the quahogs if u can~! Haven't tried the pork yet, that'll be for another day. Coleslaw however was lacking in flavor so I tweaked it since I was at home with the meal.

Ok this place sucks big time! I'm from the south shore so Ive been a local here for 30 years and this place is by far the most Despicable beach front restaurant I've ever went to. I'm also going to take the time to call the board of health on this place for the disgusting bathrooms , I am a construction worker and have been in the worst Porta pottys u would ever see but these bathrooms topped it off.. Ok so when I walked in with my girlfriend and other friend we where completely ignored by all staff except one kid that looked like he was 13 yrs old working his first job and sat us down. Next we waited at the booth ready to order for 20 mins !!!!!! Finally the cracked out looking lady with cheap clothes on and looked like she didn't shower before work asked us what we wanted to drink and took our orders , we continue to wait for 30 minutes patiently before I got up to use the disgusting restroom and saw the waitress sitting at the bar counting money so I went to young boy and asked him how our food was doing and the waitress interrupted him and said oh I put that order in 10 minutes ago when clearly we been sitting there for 30 minutes so I went and sat down in the boy kept looking over at us and then came over to us and said I'll go check on it for you very polite kid he came back out and told the waitress she came over and said it will be right out meanwhile all this I ordered was a salad and a dozen oysters which takes about five minutes to do, finally FINALLY after 45 minutes the food comes out and one of my oyster's tasted like puke and had to spit it out half the ice was melted they didn't look fresh whatsoever we saw other patrons walk out because of the crappy service when we should've done the same no one has any uniforms on no name tags dress like their trailer trash this place should be close down or hire some management any management because clearly there's no management this place sucks don't go there ever !!!!!!!!

Worst service I have ever experienced. Let me start by saying I am a waitress, so while I may critique other waitresses more than the average person, I am also very understanding. I went there on a very hot and sunny Monday morning in May at about noon with about 7 other fellow waitresses. When we got there there was one person at the bar downstairs and when we went up to the deck there was not a single soul. We ordered drinks immediately when we sat down but it took nearly 15 min to actually get those drinks. And they were not difficult drinks...2 bottled beers, a glass of wine, and two malibu bay breezes. Once we received our drinks (one of the bottled beers were actually warm, not cool but could be colder, actually room temperature) we ordered our food which I must say was very very good. However, when I went to order the lobster tacos they said they were out of lobster...and then when I went downs stairs to use the bathroom, I saw 5 lobsters in the lobster tank!!! I also found it very ironic that all the waitresses were wearing "got lobster?" shirts even though they didn't have any lobster, or so they said. The fries were delicious and so were the fish tacos I got but it was absolutely not worth the 45 min we had to wait for it. By the time we had our second round of drinks we realized we should start ordering another round of drinks as soon as we got our drinks because it was taking at least 15 min every time we ordered a round. The waitress didn't bring the dressing we asked for until we were already finished with our meal. She let the dishes and glasses and beer bottles pile up in front of us and didn't clear away anything. She didn't supply us with any napkins until we asked for some, and then she took 10 min to bring them to us. We had several people join our party and we advised them to get their drinks at the bar downstairs and then come to the deck to join us, which they did and it was way faster to do it that way. People started coming upstairs on the deck and we watched them as they waited as long as we waited to just get greeted. We saw several groups of people leave after waiting to be served for 15 min. The service was absolutely awful and I will never be returning. There was no excuse for our waitress to take as long as she did for everything. It would be one thing if she was clearly busy and running around to try to get to everyone, but she wasn't. She just walked slowly down the stairs and took her time doing EVERYTHING. At one point when someone joined us and he asked for a drink, the waitress told him he could get it at the bar downstairs himself...So rude. Terrible, terrible service. The red parrot seriously needs to consider hiring a new wait staff because its making them loose a lot of good business.

it is weird to see all the negative reviews, yes the place is alittle dead in the winter. great place to eat and I think the staff is very very nice and good to chat with. no place is going to be perfect! give it a chance. the food is great and yes may take a while but I have been there 8 times and have had great food. if there is a wait that means it's busy, what do we tell our children, be patient ! SO CAN YOU, good things take time. I would go back there

Never write review on yelp before but today had the worst experience at this restaurant, so I have to. Waited around 5 mins to be seated, not bad. Waitress took 10 minutes to come greet and get our orders. Still not too bad. Then 30 minutes for food...... My two little ones were not too happy about that. Didn't get us utensils or plates, so I was kinda sitting there a little bit looking at my lobster bisque. Ordered the seafood platter which on the menu said includes fried clams, but no fried clams were in our plates. So asked the waitress if the seafood platter includes fried clams, giving me a disguising look and said 'everything should be in there according to the menu.' So I told her we didn't see any and she said 'you should have told me in the beginning'. Well, the platter is kinda a big plate full of fries, shrimp, fish, scallops. Really didn't notice we are missing the tiny clams until we kinda dig in. So she said she needs to check the menu (thought she would have know since it should be a famous plate), and from where we sat, we can see her giving another unpleasant look as if we were lying. Then we were waiting for like 10 mins and not sure if we should keep eating, she came back and apologized and said the kitchen was out of clams, that's y there weren't any! OMFG! Are you serious? This is how you do business! Lying to a customer! So if we didnt ask, they will just let it be? Not only that but that disgusting look too. Anyway, they took $5 off that plate. And then, check time. Charged us 3 beers when we had two. I've been to this restaurant years ago, and it wasn't that bad but today was the worst experience ever. Don't think I would go back again. Also ladies room was disgusting and diarrhea on my way home. Horrible

The Red Parrot is my favorite restaurant on the South Shore. The food is amazing, the staff is wonderful, the décor is lovely and the view of the ocean is magnificent! I have rented out the Red Parrot for four years in a row to hold a fundraiser and have found it to be a perfect event venue. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delightful meal by the ocean or in need of a lovely hall for a wedding, business conference or any event.

I have never been here when it's super busy and I'm sure there's been bad experiences like any other restaurant. But I grew up in Pembroke so through the years I have been here a few times. Then I moved to Hingham and have been here more than a few times... My wife and I have always had great food service and drink experiences here. Everyone has different taste and I am a home chef that's always testing my limits so trust me. Give it a try don't let the bad reviews deter you

A fair warning to the kind folk visiting nantasket beach whos tummies get a little rumbly. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAUGUE! Ever seen those hidden camera shows where they expose restaurants for the horrible service and such? I can only pray the next episode is set right here as this place could surely use it. Can someone explain to me how raw oysters take over 30 minutes to arrive after you order them? I mean, they're raw... they don't need to be cooked. . All they need to do is "Schuck" them. The waitress came by 3 times in ten minute increments to tell us our oysters will be right out. I told my better half if she came by again I was going to tell her to get the check and let bygones be bygones. Some busboy with cleaning rags in his pocket brought them over! hooray!. Now these were not oysters on the half shell, they were oysters on the "quarter" shell. That's right, two of our half dozen oysters were served on a broken half of a half shell!. There was actually a jagged piece of shell in the first one I ate. Of course our waitress doesn't apologize for the delay once, but low and behold, wants to know if we'd like another round the instant they were dropped on the table. I get it, you want to increase the bill, but a simple apology for waiting a million years for raw food would've gone a long way. Also, apparently there is trouble in paradise between our waitress and another waitor as they were arguing over whos table was which across the deck, resulting in the other waitor, and unkempt looking teenager giving her the middle finger in plain sight of families and young kids. I acutally saw a couple get seated, and after 20 minutes of NOBODY coming over to help them, got up and left! are you serious? at first I felt bad for them but that feeling was shortly overcome by my jealously that they didn't have to spend a dime at this establishment unlike myself. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Would never come back here and will warn anyone who visits the area to never go here. Just think the owners should know about employees cursing across the deck infront of young kids and slow, lazy, unapologetic service. Red Parrot? More like the Dying Seagull

I have lived in Hull off and on for 46 years. I spend summers here mostly. The Red Parrot used to be good when they opened. You could actually come for lobster dinners etc... I haven't been back in 10 years until tonight. It was AWFUL. I took an order to go: A Parrot burger , caesar salad and a fish sandwich. The caesar was not bad but as for the rest: YECH. The hamburger was ordered medium and it was RARE. The french fries tasted old and stale. We couldn't eat them. Maybe they kept using the same oil..... the fish sandwich had rotten lettuce on it and it not only fell apart but was COMPLETELY tasteless. The coating had no flavor which was too bad because the cod was a good piece of cod so they pretty much destroyed it. Honestly, if I was going to go back I would have called and complained. As it is, I will never go back. Honestly, Schooners is MUCH better in terms of a decent meal. And theyre nothing fancy, but at least you can eat the food. Buyer beware!

Beyond Disappointed.. Wish I could give 0 stars. This used to be my FAVORITE local place to go for a bit of the beach without a big drive. I have been going to the red parrot for the past three years.. last summer I think I went 8 or 9 times. Before going I know what staples are a must there after trying most things: Pina Colada, Mudslide, sweet potato fries, and burger! I went last night for the first time this summer season and don't think I will ever go back. My boyfriend and I were ecstatic to find a coupon for Red Parrot in our Entertainment book for up to $15 off (basically an entire meal). We were pumped and went there to get our first frozen drinks of summer and some grub. We started with a pina colada for me and a mudslide for him. We both took a few sips from our frozen drinks and they were not worth consuming. Mine literally tasted like ice with a fain hint of rum and NOTHING else. His mudslide was basically the same but had the tiniest bit more flavor due to the chocolate syrup drizzle in the glass- it tasted like crappy chocolate milk. We felt bad because we never send anything back but were so disappointed that we just didn't even want a frozen drink anymore. The waitress was very apologetic and said she would remove them from our bill when we said we didn't want replacements. Not going to lie, we were real bummed about the drinks but love the red parrot so much that we figured it was a fluke thing. At this point we told her we didn't want to be naggy because we were there with an entertainment book coupon and know how annoying it is when people think they are owed the world. Dinner was very quick to come out, which was awesome because we were starving and didn't have any fun drinks to sip on. In an attempt to try something new I ordered the fish and chips (with sweet potato fries of course) and he ordered the lobster panini (sweet potato fries as well). After two bites, we both agreed it was our best meals that we have ever gotten there- big chunks of fish, not TOO greasy, and his panini had massive chunks of lobster in it. I was about 2/3 done with my meal (I eat quickly) and my boyfriend was about half done his when the waitress stopped by to see how the food was... we both told her it was delicious. about a minute after she walked away my boyfriend held up a chunk of lobster on his fork and said "what kind of seed is this?" It was big and from the other side of the table it looked like a sunflower seed- black and big, about that size, maybe a little larger. I leaned in to look at it, he moved it a bit and at the same time we both realized what it was.. .... .................................. A MASSIVE BLACK FLY!!!! This wasn't a mayonnaisey, lobster salad concoction- it was lobster chunks, red peppers, onions, and garlic aioli... YOU CAN SEE A BIG BLACK THING. We called the waitress over and were being exceptionally nice to her about it because we know its not her fault (we both work in the hospitality industry- guest svc's for him, F&B FOR ME)... We showed her our discovery and she was just as horrified as us. She promised that it would be taken off the bill... We were kind of over the experience and ready to leave at this point. When the waitress presented us the bill, we didn't know why the price was so high and we realized that our drinks were still on there.... our drinks that we took a combined total of maybe 5 sips and had the waitress take away. Again, we called the waitress back and she said "Oh, you wanted them taken off your bill?" I quietly (because as a former long term server and now manager, I HATE when people are obnoxious and cause a scene) explained that we didn't drink them, had them sent back, and she OFFERED to remove them so we were under the impression that is what was happening. She told us she would have the manager do that then asked if we were still using our entertainment coupon!!! Helllooooooo......Obviously NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At this point we shouldn't be paying for anything!!! As a manager, I would have done anything in my power to make things right with my guests if this ever happened! We didn't say anything further... We paid cash for the one meal (plus left her 7 bucks which to be honest was WAY more than generous at this point) and got out as quick as we could. I cannot believe that after EVERYTHING the manager STILL didn't even come over to speak with us! Not even to say "i'm sorry you found a fly!!!" As a manager myself, I would've gone to the table after the drinks were sent back and comped bev's and dessert or apps-- if rejected then A meal from their check... SOMETHING. Then to still not come over after the FLY episode, I am disgusted. I can't say it enough.... I'm so beyond disappointed.

I'm giving this place 3 stars for the view ... and the view alone. Overlooking the water, it really is breathtaking when it's nice and sunny outside. We sat on the upstairs deck, and the service was slow. Granted, we went for a late lunch, and there was only one other table out there. The beers were cold, and the seasonal pumpkin beer I ordered came with a cinnamon sugar rim - which was a nice touch. The food was just okay, I ordered the beef sliders, and I did like the fact that they tasted like the were cooked on a charcoal grill. My friend ordered the lobster panini and was very disappointed with it. Another friend ordered the fish tacos, and was very happy with them. Since we were just in the area visiting, we more than likely won't be back, but if you're looking for somewhere with a beautiful view ... check it out. Even if it's just for a few cold beers!

Location may be everything but CAN NOT make up for HORRIFIC service. We were a party of four which had every intention of staying a while, ordering a few cocktails, catching up on not seeing each other for a year and eating some dinner. It was a Monday night....not the busiest night at any restaurant. We were given our drinks...cape codder came as a screwdriver and a Glenlivet on the rocks was JB. Sent the cape codder back and they added a splash of cranberry. Now I have a Maderas. Oh did I mention it took 20 minutes to get those drinks? Dinner was served, we had to go to the bar ourselves to get our second round. The waitress was too engrossed in her own conversations to ask if we were all set. We finally flagged her down for our check and she promptly disappeared with our credit card. I am not exaggerating when I say 25 minutes. Finally one of us got up and retreived our card so we could leave. Enough said.

Not good. Do yourself a favor and try somewhere else. The deck would be a good place to sit and have a drink but that is it. Beautiful view. The staff was friendly but I can only stand someone coming to tell me it'll just be a few minutes a couple of times. An hour and a half later with only a few tables full of people to be seen we left money for our crappy appetizers and drinks and went somewhere else. The nachos were gross and the onion rings looked much better than they tasted, not to mention the order came with 7, yes I counted, 7 onion rings in a 1/4 full basket. Strange. Maybe they'll shape up since they have such a nice location and great view.

I payed 18.99 for scallops that were WAY overdone. And I have a strict policy not to send food back, after having friends in the restaurant business. So, I slapped on extra tartar sauce, but still could only eat half of them. And my friends could tell they were overcooked just by looking at the fact that my fried batter was so much darker then everyone else's. So, even the waitress should have known, but I can't totally blame her. Coleslaw was weird tasting. And tartar sauce just tasted like onions. I've seen the service complaints here. Our wait staff were all pleasant, and we got our meal fairly quick (which is the only reason I didn't give 1 star). My main complaint is the food.

Went went there today and they were clearly understaffed and very stressed. The big issue was there was no soap in the ladies room. I commented about this to the manager and waitresses three times over the course of two hours and they kept apologizing but never refilled the soap. In the meantime, MANY women used the restroom with no soap at their disposal. Gross! We also had to wait forever for our food. The food was delicious, however.

Come here for the view and the food is not bad at all. Rooftop deck with views of all Nantasket and Boston. The service is a bit slow but is friendly. The place is worn and a bit seedy but what to expect for Hampton Beach South? The fish tacos were very good and they have good alternatives (healthy) to fries. A fun place to get trashed if you are 24 and from Quincy or Charlestown.

I have to keep giving this place love. No matter how many whacko things go on here, it still manages to have one of the best roof decks for drinks you can possibly have on a nice sunny day. Overlooking Nantasket beach, you don't mind that your beer is a little expensive for the sticks. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that there's a ghetto wedding reception with a karaoke celebration happening downstairs with Kool and the Gang blasting into your brain. That's kind of awesome, and worth the price of admission.

Decided to try this place hoping to stay on my "diet" Was more than happy to see the 1st page of the menu titled PALEO MEALS The 3 in my party all changing their eating habits too and love Paleo and like I said more than happy to see this as a choice for our lunch. The young waitress said that the menu is popular and the owners are also big paleo people. I got the salmon, my #1 choice where ever I go. It was cooked perfect and very tasty. Came with yummy grilled veggies.and cauliflower rice. Hubby got the meatloaf, he wasnt overly impressed but he is a tough critic, his plate was empty so that speaks volumn I always say. Our friend got the Pulled Chicken over garlic sauteed spinach which she liked. It was a busy weekend day but our waitress was great, did have a bit of a wait for the check but with a great view of the ocean didnt pose a big problem. Will definitly make a trip back and bring more of my paleo loving friends.

No. Just no. Place ran out of lobster AND calamari? I know it was after the Mother's Day lunch rush, but how can you be understaffed on a beautiful Sunday at 5pm? I waited over an hour for 'below average' nachos, buffalo wings, chicken nuggets, and a fisherman platter (minus calamari). A guy who was sitting at the next table actually gave us a hot dog because we had a very hungry 3 years old child. It also took 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our DRINK order. Save yourself. Run the other direction.

We were attracted to the restaurant's ocean front sunny terrace still open in the late October, planning on having light lunch only. Our party of four ended up dining and tasting delicious food prepared by cook Dave. We started with sharing delicately fried calamari tossed with banana pepper rings and arugula. This dish was much better than the standard fried calamari which often have overwhelming taste of stale frying oil elsewhere. Creamy Fra Diavalo Fish Stew was copious and delicious ($16). The stew included several large pieces of sword fish, mussels, clams, and shrimp, all soaked in a spicy but yet delicate red sauce. The coconut milk added the creamy and silky texture to the sauce. Single Boiled Lobster Special was served with baked potato and corn on a cob, but it was preceded with an appetizer of artichoke and spinach dip and the garden salad, all for just $16. Mussels were served in three ways. We opted for one with white wine and garlic and they were delicious as well ($10). Our friends had thick and heavy New England clam chowder with oyster crackers, and they were very pleased. We drank Indian Pale Ale and non-alcoholic beer often not found. We were more than satisfied with the food at Red Parrot's while enjoying the sun on terrace on a late October afternoon. Strongly recommend.

We went there twice during our stay as the first time we went was ok but wasn't great. We thought we'd give it a try a second time and take advantage of the seafood daily specials. Nope. The staff is extremely unfriendly to everyone. They think they are above us like we are little rats in a cage. News flash! You're all gross and annoying and extremely annoying by coming to the table every two minutes and rushing everyone out of their tables. Will not back here again.

Watered down drinks and then waitress gave my friend and I an attitude when we told her, 45 minutes later...because that was the next time she came to our table. But the worst thing...FOOD POISONING. I had the fish sandwich and only ate the fish because the bread was old. Sick for two days. Onion rings could have been the redeeming factor here, but they were cold. One star for the beer, but how could you screw that up. Never ever again.

Went for Easter Brunch. Won't ever go back. The bacon and sausages were ice cold. And they steamed the sausages to cook them cause they were not brown. The omelet I had wasn't cooked at all and the coffee was ice cold as well. This was the worst brunch I ever went to.

I am giving the Red Parrot across from Nantasket beach the BIG HIGH FIVE STARS! This is a monumental occasion due to the fact that it is hard to please ol Melissa M. But, please they did and if Polly wanted a cracker, I'd give her one! The Red Parrot is THE place to go to eat, drink, and be merry. My posse of 7 people had a reservation for 8pm last night. The sun was setting, my fiance and I were early and had a libation at the bar. A gin and tonic for he, a ginger ale for me. The ginger ale was excellent. You see, some places will give you soda and it just tastes off, old, funky. This ginger ale was perfect. Yeah, maybe there was a teeny fruit fly in the cup, but I was able to get him out and since I was thirsty, I kept drinking it. The bartender was really cool too. I believe his name is Greg, he kept the drinks flowing and had a nice personality. We were sitting outside on their patio. The patio is on the second floor so it overlooks the beach, very beautiful. The music they played was really nice too. James Taylor, John Mayer, Bob Dylan, okay, maybe it's not your cup of tea, but it was nice comfort music and I enjoyed it. Our party of 7 all arrives and the nice staff push some patio tables together so we could all sit comfortably and we start ordering the food and drinks. The appetizers were: littlenecks stuffed quahogs nachos calamari. I tried all but the calamari, and all of the stuff I tried were delicious. I daresay, the best nachos I ever had!! Get them, if you are a nacho fan. The stuffed quahogs were good, and this was my first time trying them. The littlenecks were good too, and the cocktail sauce was decent! I forgot to mention the clam chowder. Now, readers, I'm a Yelper, I take my job seriously to inform you and I also try to be useful, funny, and cool in life and the same goes for my reviews. Let me tell you that you must order the CLAM CHOWDER. I am willing to say, this was the BEST CLAM CHOWDER I HAVE EVER HAD. I'm from Boston, I grew up on Clam Chodwer. Nothing compares to The Red Parrot's. I don't know what it is, but it's good. Perfect amount of clams, potatoes, a nice thickness of chowder texture, but not too thick and definitely not too thin. My only regret is that I got a cup, a bowl would have been better. Next time. Oh, and there will be a next time. Lots of them. Everyone loved their dinner from the lobster scampi to the lobster macaroni and cheese to the boiled twin lobsters. We were a happy group! We were a nicely fed group. I got the lobster mac and cheese. Five different types of cheese and a nice amount of lobster. They use gemeli pasta and it was perfect. I ate half and saved the rest to take home and then, started chatting and eating a few more bites until I had no leftovers. SO GOOD. I live in Allston and will make the trek to Hull on a regular basis now. In fact, I might even take myself there tomorrow. I have the day off! The service was wonderful too. She was new, but knew her stuff. The price was right too, seven people, drinks, lots of apps, a huge meal and the bill was about 250 and change. Not bad! Oh, I can't wait to come back!! Sit outside if you can. **Bathrooms were clean, too! Normal TP, good soap, hot water and it smelled like it had just been cleaned! Bonus!**

Great view of the beach. I had the lobster sliders which were great. Tasted very fresh and generous portions of lobster. The mixed drinks were okay but the view made up for it.

I really like this place. I've been coming here for years. it is such a landmark of nantasket beach it's like when people think of nantasket they think of the red parrot too instantly. It's definitley by far the best beach restaurant and drinks on the strip. (do nottttt go to barefoot fuckin bobs). This place is great for what it is. Tropical drinks, a roofdeck on the beach, and pretty decent seafood. Don't come here thinking you are going to get a gourmet fancy meal and you'll be fine. The service can be a bit slow at times because it can get super crowded but it really is worth it. And somehow i've never had to wait to get a table on the roof even when it is very busy which is a nice plus. Random but the chicken quesadillas here are so delicious for some reason. I'd definitley recommend them. Always packed, always a good time and always a beautiful view of the beach.

Parking for the Harley, rooftop bar with beach views, decent bartender, cold beer and lobster sliders. Keep your expectations in check. It's a place to hang and drink. Accept the ambiance for what it is - bikers and couples all mixed together in one happy afternoon.

I liked this place...great fun ambiance (musician playing guitar fantastic) and a great bowl of mussels also had lobster sliders. Mussels were in a great white wine/garlic sauce. Bread . Sliders were crammed with lobster. View from the deck of the Atlantic was fab. Mostly locals who walked over from sunning on the public beach across street.

Clam chowder was not very good. Husband got the lobster special and it offered a lot of seafood but he thought it was just "ok" I REALLY liked my lobster mac n cheese. Waitress was friendly and helpful. It was nice to be there on a night when it wasn't packed.

I don't know why we have had such bad luck at The Red Parrot but the service is generally bad, the food...(meh)...there are so many other places to eat in Hull so you may want to skip this one. They do have a decent brunch on Sunday's, but skip it for dinner.

The BF and I really needed a break so we went to Nantasket Beach to get a nice walk and bite away from the city. After walking the strip, we decided to stop in here. There were no covered tables available on the roof so we opted for in-house dining. The carpet was black in the aisles demonstrating that there was a lot of foot traffic, but I took that as a good sign. Lots of patrons, right? We were escorted promptly to a booth with cracked and quite a few missing tiles. Ok no big.... but very noticeable. The table had mismatched paper placemats. Mine had instructions on how to eat lobster sparking interesting conversation with my BF. The menu selections are all over the place. If you don't want a plate of fried seafood of some sort of standard hamburger/sandwich/steak tip fare, you are in trouble. The other seafood entrees mix so many styles together that it sounds risky to try anything. All options $$$$$$!!! The waiter came to attend to me while my BF was in the lav, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, the attention to detail pretty much ended there. When taking our orders, he didn't ask me what sides I would have preferred choosing to tend instead to the order of my partner. When he asked the waiter if he was finished taking my order, he said "yeah, i'm all set" choosing not to ask me if I was all set with him. I had to inquire just before he concluded that the order was set to make the correction on the default selection that he assumed would be appropriate. Now I don't mind my BF ordering for me, but my waiter? My BF's appetizer and our drinks came quickly. The virgin pina colada tasted like nothing but pineapple juice and crushed ice. I ordered a hot tea... which you really can't mess up. The clam chowder appetizer came in a very small bowl, but must have been adequate. I forgot to ask because I was distracted by the visting ants on the wall. since I only saw two occurences not in our direction, I decided to overlook them. Our food came out. My entree of stuffed shrimp was prepared differently than the menu which called for large shrimp with crab and scallop stuffing. I received large shrimp but no scallops and indeciferable bits of crab (maybe?) in a wet mushy stuffing. Instead of scallops, the stuffing contained small baby shrimp that had very noticable black veins (everyone can say ewww here). The whole plate of food was luke warm, except for my mashed garlic potatoes (which had no garlic, but a hint of what may have been garlic powder). Those were just very cold. I moved the mush and baby shrimp trying to make the best of it as we waved the waiter's check-in. The large shrimp were rubbery causing my knife to have its work "cut" out for it. I slipped at least once on the tough meat. While I had my challenges, my BF had troubles of his own. His generously portioned pasta plate was overcooked and drowning in what seemed like what was once an industrial-sized value sauce. The scallops in his pasta had no color except the sauce they were drowning in. While he was trying to make the experience as edible as possible, we found some garnish that decidedly ended the culinary experience for us. All I heard was "what the heck". As I looked up, he was removing an extremely long strand of fine black hair from under the strands of pasta on his plate!!!! By the by, my hair is brown, medium length and curly... totally opposite than the suprise...LAUGH! After we got our bearings, we alerted the waitstaff that we needed our waiter immediately. We explained the hair situation and he took the plate promptly stating that he would talk to his manager. I asked him to also alert the manager of the condition of my food. He made my BF aware that he would take care of the matter and asked if I wanted to pack mine to go. uh-WHAT? I just politely declined masking my considerable frustration about the lack of acknowledgement regarding my complaint. After an uncomfortablly long period of time, the manager came out. She apologized and offered to have the plate re-made. Uhhhh, thanks but no. She then asks about my concerns regarding my order. I basically expressed my frustration with the temp of the food and the fact that my plate did not meet the specifications of the menu. She apologized again, offered to take care of the matter and asked that we consider them again. The bill came charging us for drinks (non-alcoholic) and the appetizer. What?! For that level of inconvenience, it should've been fully comped. Either way, my BF paid the balance and tipped 20% on the amount of the bill before the adjustments. We left hungry and shaking our heads looking for a stand somewhere to get a quick bite. Little did I know that the blackened aisles were probably feet running out the door. It's such a shame. The place looks like it has real potential. Maybe after some time, I'll try again with hopes of a better report for yelpers. Maybe...

Food was fab...worth the wait..food prepared was cooked to order....service was fab....but management has to take a hit... Why are there so many maybe five wait staff standing around..also open patio at the same time as kitchen ...took a walk on the fab beach waiting for them to open. And then was told another half hour until the patio opens...we ended eating by the window....also, please add your hours to your web page...really..great web but no hours listed..... Kate..cohasset

I give this place three stars for their fantastic Sunday jazz brunch and the friendly service I received when I went there for a takeout order recently. But I knock off two stars for the terrible food I got for takeout. First, my review of the Sunday brunch. If I were only rating the Red Parrot based on their brunch, I would give it at least four stars, if not five. I've gone to it several times and the food is always delicious, and they have a wide assortment of food stations to go to, including eggs benedict, carved meats, cakes and pastries, fresh made waffles, pancakes, french toast, english muffins, eggs, ham, and sausage, among other choices. The service is friendly and professional. And the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Nantasket Beach is beautiful! So I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for their brunch service. Now for my review of the takeout dinner I got recently. They must have different chefs working the night shift than the Sunday brunch because the Chicken, Broccoli, and Ziti I got was underwhelming to say the least, and certainly not worth the $17 I paid for it. The only flavor I could detect was a slightly bitter, almost metallic flavor. It was one of those pasta dishes with a cream sauce that's not seasoned properly, and it makes you wonder if the flavor receptors on your tongue are fading. Not to mention, they served it in a cardboard box, as opposed to a plastic container. That was the first time I've seen that in a restaurant, and I thought it was a little odd. Maybe it's an environmental thing. Also, apparently their menu has changed and they haven't updated it on their website, because when I called to place my order, which was originally linguine with chicken and pomodoro sauce, they asked me if I was looking at the most recent menu. Well, seeing how it was the menu on their website, I told them I was, and they said they no longer served that dish. So, she recommended the chicken, broccoli, and ziti. So, overall, I give the Red Parrot three stars. Unless you want a great Sunday brunch with a live jazz band on a beautiful morning overlooking Nantasket Beach. Then, I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

Ok - had Easter Brunch there....a total and complete nightmare!! They upped the price by $7 (over what they normally charge for Sunday brunch) and then proceeded to do nothing else...except understaff the restaurant so that people were waiting in line for plates. Loooong lines...like 10 minutes or more! They ran out of food and the attitude was one of "whatever". I will never, never, never go back for Brunch. Ugh!

The Red Parrot gets 2 and 1/2 stars from me for the view from the top deck alone. I went there last summer (during one of those never-ending heat waves) and sat on the top deck, which is small (but not badly crowded), and has the most gorgeous view of the ocean, whch is right across the street. (And even though it was almost 100 degrees that day, there was a beautiful, refreshing, salt-air breeze blowing that made me wish that I could spend the rest of the summer just sitting there on that deck.) But then came the rest of the experience. My server was a nice kid, a young guy in his 20's probably, and he was very attentive. The problem came from the restaurant itself. First of all, I ordered a New England clam bake and was told that they had no steamers, but were offering a mussel salad instead. (No steamers in a New England clam bake??!??!!?) Well, okay, I'll take the mussel salad then, no problem, but could I have my cup of clam chowder first? Sure, my waiter said, and he brought it very quickly, just 5 minutes later. The problem was that the chowder was in a green paper cup (which my waiter proceeded to place on the table--on top of the nice linen table cloth--without either a plate or a napkin) and the chowder, itself, was absolutely disgusting. I don't know what in the hell they used for a base, but it had the consistency of watered down oatmeal or Gerber's baby food, and I couldn't eat it. Next, my waiter brought out the mussel salad, and I proceeded to eat 3 mussels (which were not bad), but while I was in the process of doing that, the waiter came out with my lobster, placed it on the table, and then proceeded to inform me that he was very sorry that he couldn't bring me my corn on the cob, but the restaurant had run out of corn. Well, I must admit that the lobster looked fabulous, but by this time I was done (as in well done) and I told him that I wanted to cancel my order. But my waiter told me that he couldn't do that (and, in fact, told me that if I cancelled my order, he would have to pay for it!!!), so I told him to go get his manager and I would make sure that he wasn't held responsible (I'm tempted to make a comment here, but I won't). Ten minutes goes by. Nothing. Another 5 minutes. Still nothing. So, at that point I asked another waiter (since my own waiter seemed to have disappeared into a black hole) to get me the manager. At the end of another 10 minutes, I walked out and when I got to the parking lot (where I was hoping to leave quickly, since it was after 6:30 and I was starving to death), I saw a woman chasing after me (who turned out to be the owner). She reaches my car window, all breathless, and asks me what the problem is, which I politely explained to her. She responded by apologizing to me for all the inconvenince, but then went on to question why I hadn't paid for the meal (!!!) To which I responded by telling her that I hadn't eaten the clam chowder due to the fact that it was horrid, but since I had eaten 3 mussels out of the mussel salad, I would be happy to pay for the mussel salad. No, she said, that isn't necessary, but she then proceeded to inform me (in a very rambling way) that with all of the problems in the world these days, and all of the tragedies, that what had happened to me in her restaurant was very insignificant, by comparison (in fact--and I'm not kidding--she rambled on for a good 3 or 4 minutes in this vein). But I listened politely, anyway, and when she was finally finished, I responded by telling her that I wasn't quite sure what all of the world's problems and tragedies had to do with the fact that her restaurant had run out of the ingredients to make a New England clam bake (and that I had waited 25 minutes, in vain, to speak to one of her managers), but that since I worked hard to earn my paycheck, I really didn't want to be forced to sit through a clambake that had no clams and no corn. And, with that, I drove over to Jake's Seafood, where I then had the most delicious New England clam bake that I have ever eaten in my life (with plenty of steamers and corn, too. However, at Jake's, I ended up with the opposite problem that I had with the Red Parrot--which was that while Jake's had amazing food, the atmosphere kind of sucked). So, I really couldn't win that day (although what would have been perfect would've been if I could have taken Jake's New England clam bake to the top deck of the Red Parrot. Now THAT would have qualified as the best dining experience of my life). Oh, well...

Well when I was originally going to write this review they were going to be lucky to get 2 stars. I went to the Red Parrot Yesterday with my husband and 11 month old son. I ordered for the baby a grilled cheese (To break to small pieces) and asked for mashed potatoes as the baby could not eat the fries. Clam bake for myself and my husband ordered the fishermans platter. The service was nothing to rave about, she was kind and courteous however she was young and nonost likely inexperienced (i understand she will learn) When our food arrived the grilled cheese sandwich was fit for a king (there as no way the baby could eat it) it seemed to be made with Texas toast and tons of cheese. The mashed potatoes actually had a piece of paper in it. The waitress said it was a slip that fell in. She offered to get new ones but I knew that the baby was not going to eat much. so I just let it be. The waitress forgot my potato salad (I did not realize until we left) and had to also be prompted for the ice cream which came with the kids meal. I must say that they have unbelievable crab cakes (close to the best I have had) My lobster bake was very good as well. I was not a big fan of teh chowder however this is a personal taste. Well putting that all aside I was ready to write a nasty review however I decided since I never actually addressed the issues with them I would give them the opportunity to respond. I called and spoke with the owner Bee and she appolagized for the problems I had (She seemed very sincere). She said she would address them with her staff as it was unacceptable. She offered her appoligy and offered to send me a gift card. I will be going back so expect another review from me when I do!

For lunch the other day, we managed to squeeze 6 people at a table set for four on the roof porch at Red Parrot. The menu was expansive and offered many seafood entrees, but also included vegetarian, beef, and chicken dishes. Basically, they had everything you could think of. Something for everyone. This establishment offers standard foods in a sit-down way versus many other take-out shanties where you're forced to find outdoor non-air conditioned seating. ATMOSPHERE Outdoor seating with a great view! You can't go wrong with a roof porch. Most tables were shaded with a large umbrella. And the service was decent. Our waiter was personable and attentive when we continually ordered beers and waters. FOOD All of the food, including the salad, but not the pasta, came out in one of those plastic baskets lined with red and white checked paper. Three people ordered fish n chips: pieces of scrod coated, lightly fried and served with big extra battered and crispy fries, tasty tartar and yummy cole slaw (not over-dressed). I think there must be an onion ring alternative, but I didn't notice that on the menu. I ordered fried clams. Yum. It was $14.50, not a bad price for the pile they served. I really wanted steamers, but I didn't see those on the menu either, but I did see someone had ordered and received a HUGE bowl full of them. How did I miss out?! My friend's chicken-broccoli pasta was loaded with a cream sauce. It looked like a heart-attack on a plate, but she insisted it was tasty. We left the place buzzed yet hydrated and pleasantly stuffed.

I had really high hopes for this place because it looked like a fun restaurant right on the beach in Hull. I read previous reviews for this place that were pretty good and the restaurant was lauded among the locals. Sadly, we were terribly disappointed. We waited almost an hour for a table and the service was equally as slow. It was painful. We had a starving group of about 7 and we waited on everything. The drinks, the appetizers, the meals, and dessert. I believe a few of our meals came out wrong but because it took so long to get the food we didn't send anything back. I opted for seafood and it was definitely delicious (reason why this place got 2 stars). Others in my party found the food average to sub-par. One person, a vegetarian ordered a grilled cheese and veggie panini and it was beyond burnt when she received it. The seafood is pretty delicious but wasn't worth the wait and poor service. Maybe it was an off day for the Red Parrot or something. I'm not sure that I'll be back.

In theory - The Red Parrot should be a 5-star experience. The location is fantastic, the views from inside and out are gorgeous, the menu looks fantastic - all indications that you are going to have a great dining experience. "Theory" in this case does not translate into a great experience... I have eaten here a few times in the past - and found the food to be terrible. I had heard that there was a new executive chef and that the menu was revamped - so we headed back. I was overly optimistic. The dining room itself is nice - lots of windows, great views, very bright, though the 2 bar areas are dark and cave-like. We ordered lobster bisque and I THINK that's what we had. "Fresh chunks of lobster meat"? WHERE? Its pink.. sort of tastes lobster-ish - but completely unimpressive. The shrimp scampi had about 8 medium sized, previously frozen, over-cooked shrimp on a bed of angel hair pasta and a completley forgettable, practically flavorless scampi sauce. No fresh herbs, garlic from the jar... BOOO. The lobster scampi had a more generous portion of lobster (previously frozen) but same boring "scampi" sauce. The Prince Edwards Island mussel dish did have a generous helping of mussles but 2 of them came unopened (why would you serve that?) and the "sauce" was the exact same as the scampi sauce. Service was friendly - but veeeery slow. My boyfriend also had the misfortune of having to use the men's room which was according to him "worse than any bar he had ever been in". This was a Sunday afternoon... The roof deck is spectacular and I would definitely come back to enjoy that with a cocktail - but I will eat somewhere else first.

The food is great and the prices are fair. If I was rating solely on food I would give them a 4. The service on the hand is horrible - I'd give them a 1. The waitresses walked by several times with no acknowledgement. We had to walk inside from the balcony just to get served.

The food is great. Absolutely worth the wait... View is amazing and breathtaking. I recommend the outdoor seating, but the service is slow no matter where you sit. i've been there sooo many times. my family loves this place and in the summertime and sunday morning brunch, most of our family outings end up here. the lobster mac and cheese is the best i've ever had. i'm not a big drinker, but the little bar downstairs is a nice place to sit and have a drink near the fireplace and wait for your meal. and i mean wait. the service is horrible, i cannot stress enough that you need to make space in your appointment book to go there. even if there are five people in the place, the service is slow. no matter how many times i get annoyed by the service - the view and the food make it worthwhile and i end up back there again.

This restaurant came highly recommended to us by my boyfriend's brother. When we arrived the sun was going down and we managed to get a high table facing the ocean. The view was incredible! We ordered our meals at about 7:30pm and our food didn't arrive until one hour later! I understand they are very busy but we would have appreciated some sort of acknowledgment from the waitress, "Hey, I'm so sorry. We're a little behind right now. Your food will be out shortly." Instead, we didn't see the waitress again until she brought out our dishes. She didn't refill our empty drinks once. When the food arrived, it was just okay. I don't recommend this place.

Went to the Red Parrot Roof Deck last night around 6pm-ish. It was great! We were able to get a high top near the edge of the deck really quickly. The bar tender waited on us. She sort of yelled from the bar area it we were cool with that- not looking to have fine dining - just a good time. There was a guy playing the guitar and singing. He had a Jimmy Buffet/Kenny Chesney/John Mayer style. Loved it! We had a few drinks (club soda with coconut rum and a lime) and shared food. Got a greek salad which was pretty big and good and a chargrilled cajun scrod with brocolli and sauteed zucchini. Everything was good. People watching and listening to music was great. They have a parking lot but there were no spaces whereas beach goers tend to take spots without caring. Fortunitely it was Sunday evening so we parked at a meter for free. (FYI- Some meters there are only 1 hour instead of 2).

It's been at least 3 years that I've stepped foot in the Red Parrot due to the decline in the quality of service and food. The last time I'd been there we waited 20 minutes and no one came to our table...so it was with great trepidation that I agreed to give it another shot. The service, while still slow was light years ahead of what I'd experienced my last few visits. The food was pretty good...the clam chowder while not as thick as I prefer had a good flavor. My father and husband both ordered the chef's burger w/fries and were quite happy. My mother and I had had the veggie/crab burger special. I think it could've used some spicing up but was decent. I do think they are expensive for the quality/quantity of the food though, I'd expect their items to be priced at least a dollar or two less that what they currently charge. After talking to a friend who goes to the bar for the poker night, I guess they've changed chefs quite a bit in the last few years. So hopefully this new one can really amp up the quality and get service even more on point b/c I remember when the Parrot used to be great and would love to see this local joint return to what it used to be.

Caveat: went during the off-season Nota bene: the menu on the website, the last we looked at it, was not updated. They hired some special chef to come and revamp it, and the menu in the restaurant looked like they are trying to make it a bit fancier. 1. Hard to tell which door is the front door. Exterior/interior looked nice, it seems like they are doing some improvements. 2. Service was nice and quick. Menu looked good, and prices were on par for good seafood. The french onion soup and caesar salad I ordered tasted completely homemade, which was nice. Not much else to say, I wasn't feeling great before I got there, but didn't get sick afterward like other reviewers are saying. I'd be open to try it again during summertime and re-review.

Having seen some of the other reviews...these are the things I recommend. Fisherman's Platter, Cod sandwich. If you are coming here to eat fish you will not be disappointed with these dishes. I asked for them to make my sandwich baked cod instead of fried and they did it very willingly! That pleased me so much because I don't really like to each much fried food. They can also substitute fries too! My husband and my mother rave about the fisherman's platter. I also noticed that they have a Saturday Jazz brunch. We plan to try that very soon!

A year or so ago, Michael Aprea moved on to The Red Parrot after many great years at Cafe Ona in Hull. As the head chef at the Parrot, he has just made Friday's Cafe Ona Night. It was great! Tonight's "2 for $25" menu had all of his best dishes. It was like the old days at Cafe Ona...only Savash.was missing. This menu is special and we will be returning often. We also had great wait service...don't remember her name but she was a gem. Oh, and it was a special treat to get a table side visit from Michael!

Oh God, it's that time of year again. My friend's and I tend to migrate to hull on the weekends during the summer time. But none of us really like it that much. Anyway, I feel the Red Parrot is over priced, tacky and full of old people. But most of the time I have a good time there. They stop serving shots after midnights, and there is a ever presence of the hull police. My family and I had Easter dinner here once when I was a kid. I don't remember it too well, but it must of been like 15 years ago and my parents still regret it. I saw a missive fight break out there once. It was awesome.

This place is so hit or miss. The food is just 'ok'. The only good part of this place is the ocean view and I love sitting on the deck on the roof as well. One time when I came in, it was just me and my sister in law in the restaurant, super slow. And we ordered food and literally we waited an entire hour for our food to show up, but it never did. So we just walked out and left hungry. I mean sometimes I come and I have a nice waitress and nice service, but you never know. I usally get the kids meal of chicken fingers and sometimes I will have a waiter saying that I can't order that and other times it's completely fine. I think all of the waitstaff should be on the same page. Seems like there is a communication problem there.

Been to the Red Parrot in past but is was always mediocre but the location is great. It is a big place with both indoor and outdoor patio dining right across from the beach. The Red Parrot has great unobstructed views of the beach. I recently read they hired a new chef who improved their menu so I decided to give it a try. I went with a group of 8 and all were really please with my decision to go there. Most of us ordered their lobster roll which is pretty big and had a generous helping of lobster meat. It was on a great sub roll and not a small hotdog roll. For $20 it was a bargin and they use a lot of tail meat not just the knuckle meat. It is one of the best lobster rolls I've had; not heavy on the mayo with a little celery mixed in. I will go back as they also offer several other lobster options like lobster panini, lobster club sandwich, lobster tacos and more. The menu also offers many other options besides lobster of course. Great location and great food. It made for a good night. After, we all went down to one of their bars that offer live music. One thing I would suggest to the owners is to use glass instead of plastic cups for dining customers. It kind of cheapens the place a little. Service was great during dinner and at the bar. Red Parrot is redeeming itself.

Boyfriend and I come here for drinks a lot, mainly for the view. As other reviewers have said, it can be a long wait at the table for someone to show up, but it's nice sitting on the roof deck so we usually don't mind. We've never had a problem with our food, but we usually stick to sandwiches and sweet potato fries.

zero stars: As someone else said, this place is stunningly terrible. Three other tables, everyone waited over 40 minutes for their food. Ours was burned to crisp, not just one item, but several. I asked to speak to the manager and was told she was not there. I asked to speak to the owner - not there. I walked into the filthy disgusting kitchen and asked to speak to the head chef. I was told the head chef is not there. I went out to my car to get my phone and returned to find out that suddenly there is a manager who is a man not a woman... Wait. I thought you said the manager was a woman and she's not there??? This manager who hides behind an office door and never comes out to the floor was rude and insulting. He could care less that there are dozens of negative reviews. Go to Barefoot Bob's instead. I went to the snack stand down the street and the woman said that locals never go to the red parrot.

I had heard mixed things about this place, but it seemed charming enough, so me and a friend of mine stopped by for a simple meal and a few drinks. We arrived, went to the deck, and were seated pretty shortly with menus. Three other tables were seated around us and they were all serviced before us, but we were never acknowledged. We waited almost 20 minutes while 2 servers stood behind the bar and chatted. I could understand if it was busy that night, but first impressions are huge in the restaurant business and they really dropped the ball. We finally got up and left after being ignored and informed the manager we were going to the place next door. Will not return.

Nope, I won't be going back here. In fact, even though I went there on Sunday, I'm still waiting for one of the two charges put on my credit card to be voided and given back to me. The food was decent and the view of the ocean was wonderful. My friend and I had the baked artichoke appetizer (which was a large dish of cheese and artichokes, but yet only came with three pieces of bruschetta). However, we did get rolls to accompany this appetizer. For our lunch entrees, my friend had a Caprese wrap with cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes (with fries, too) and I had the lobster mac and cheese (believe me, this is a once a year treat). The lobster mac was really creamy; I liked the dish at the Fat Cat better because of the texture and taste. So, for food, the Red Parrot might have received three stars. And then there is the entire issue of the bill. We initially asked for our bill to be split and that the appetizer to be split in two (it was $6.00). The bill came and it wasn't split. The total was $38 and some change. We both received a bill for $14.87. Yes, I could have been dishonest and paid it and left there, but no, I gave the waitress the benefit of the doubt and said she needed to charge me more (the mac and cheese alone was $16.99 alone). Really, shame on me. She made two charges (the $14.87 and another $26 charge, which was the real one) and said she would void the smaller charge. Come Wednesday, I was charged for both. I called the restaurant not once but three times before actually speaking to the manager (I also left a message on a machine and with an actual person). There was no apology issued; in fact, I felt I was being interrogated and they thought the whole thing was my fault, when in fact, I was trying to help out the waitress. I just couldn't believe this. So, the charge still hasn't been credited and I will be disputing the matter on my credit card if it hasn't been solved by Monday. In this day and age, that's a long time to wait. Yeah, it's only $14.87, but it's the principle of the matter. And as a manager, you should be apologizing for these types of mistakes, not blaming the customer, who was trying to do the right thing.

I had lunch on the deck with friends and we had a really nice meal. I'd say the service, prices, and food quality are three stars but it gets an extra because of the amazing ocean view from the deck. We all had wraps and burgers (no seafood) and they were pretty okay. The burgers were huge! However, if you really like sweet potato fries you'll be disappointed in the ones they serve. The regular fries were much better. Though we were seated promptly, the service was rather slow for a mid-week afternoon on a half-empty roof deck. However, it gave us more time to enjoy the view! I'd go back again.

First, if you know why there are two listings for The Red Parrot, both in Hull, can you please tell me? This entry has the correct address, that matches their website. However, both entries contain reviews that refer to the same place, and you'll find that both entries contain less than stellar reviews of this place. I went here last night for dinner with some friends and sat on the upper deck outside to enjoy the evening and ocean breeze. The hostess was nice enough and granted our request for shade. However, we then sat there for a good 10-15 minutes before any member of the waitstaff even bothered to come over. You would at least expect them to take a drink order while you're looking over the menu. There were several waiters/waitresses standing near the service station, leaning on the railing. I don't know what they were waiting for, but I seriously got to the point of almost leaving. Not that you expect much from beachfood, but everything was just ok. I ordered the Lobster mac'n'cheese, which tasted good and had lots of large chunks of lobster meat, but was very heavy with cream. I guess I should have sort of expected that. When the waiter came around to check on drinks, he tried guessing what everyone had ordered the first time and got my friend's drink wrong. He had ordered a Harpoon UFO, but had actually been given a Harpoon IPA. The server's lack of attention and unwillingness to come over to our table in the first place are what stand out from this experience. Skip this place, go down the street to Barefoot Bob's.

Went to the Red Parrot for dinner Friday night because we were beat after driving all day and it was within easy walking distance of our hotel. The disorganization started when we arrived at the outdoor seating area, the Deck. There was one table open, which I was about to grab, until my husband asked a waitress, who said we shoudl wait to be seated. So we stood there awkwardly for about 5 minutes, when a different waitress told us to seat ourselves. Our drink order arrived in a reasonable time, which was good because the food took forever. I finished 2 glasses of wine just waiting for it to arrive. We overheard several mistakes in orders at nearby tables and the people at the next table got fed up with the wait and just asked for their check after their drinks. The food was good, though. Richard had a hamburger and fries, very competently prepared, and I had lobster crepes which were yummy with lots of tender lobster. I would have expected more veggies in the dish based on the menu description, but it was delicious. Good thing we were walking with all that time to drink waiting for the meal, but it was good and enjoyable if you have the time.

The food, well, is fair at best. There is far better not only in Boston, but nearby. However, the setting is what sets it apart from far better restaurants, as long as you can get a table upstairs and outside. If this is possible, you'll get to enjoy crashing waves, sunshine and a refreshing sea breeze. Just don't go expecting a meal to write home about.

If you want bad service, long wait time for food and dirty restrooms, then this is the place. It took about 40 min. to get our lobster tacos and about 20 min. to get our check after we asked for it.

ugh. i understand living in a town makes you dislike certain things about it. and honestly, i really wanted to like red parrot, it had a very hometown feel, good location in town, relatively cheap drinks and good friends. ....actually too many good friends ....and their parents?.... this is a townie hangout, its kind of sad honestly. for a town that prides itself on creativity this place is well, just bland. nightlife is ok, however way too many town kids doing horrible kareoke. the food itself leaves alot to be desired, and from the numerous chances i gave it it never improved. the drinks are well, great...the bartenders are generous with the liquor, use decent booze and are quite friendly. after that everything goes wayyyyyy downhill. one star for drinks, one star for beach views. w00t.

The location is great - excellent views, but the good news ends there. Although the service is friendly, it isn't very attentive. Cleanliness is below average with a distinct old vomit smell in the cavernous and dark bar. We ordered the clam chowder, lobster bisque, pastrami sandwich with onion rings, and crab cakes. All of it was terrible to varying degrees. The clam chowder had way too much bacon to the point where you could not taste the clams. It was also overly gelatinous, which made the clams especially unpleasant. The crab cakes were hulking in size because of the inordinate amount of bread crumbs. They had little taste and the included tartar sauce had a hint of nutmeg or cinnamon that was off-putting. The pastrami sandwich was super fatty and had obviously sat too long, which mean the bun was soggy from the condensation of the hot pastrami. The battering on the onion rings was way to heavy and they generally lacked taste. The lobster bisque took the cake as the hands-down most awful dish we've had at a restaurant lately. Upon tasting the bisque, the taste of flour overwhelmed me. The cup of bisque must have been at least 1/2 flour - no joke. My girlfriend wanted to try it and scooped up what she though was a big chunk of lobster. After biting into the grape-sized chunk, she realized it was a ball of flour! Unbelievable and disgusting. The waitress took it off our bill, but it still came to $50. No way in hell would I recommend that anyone venture anywhere near this place for anything other than a drink. If you're hungry do yourself a favor and go buy a bag of chips.

Okay... so its been a while since I went here but I was browsing through Yelp, saw this place on here and had to write a review. This past summer my friends threw me a surprise beach day for my birthday at Nantasket. We spent the whole day on the beach drinking and cavorting and when 4 o clock hit we were all ready for some real food. We headed over to the Red Parrot and got a table in about 15 minutes upstairs on the deck. There were about 10 of us so we were pretty happy with that. We are all bartenders/ restaurant people so we didnt mind. So as I said... it was my birthday and I was a little tipsy... BUT the one thing that still stands out is the lobster mac n cheese. IT WAS AMAZING. Other people ordered it too and were equally as in love. It was a huge portion for only 16 dollars! So much lobster meat too. The service was great and sitting out on that deck right on the water beats most places. I will be back this summer!

Really hated the lobster roll... It tasted more like celery in a mayonnaise sauce. The lobster was rubbery. My wife's scrod was overcooked and covered in a bizarre cream sauce.

Great food, but the service sucks. I like the twin boiled lobster for $25(cant beat that), the lobster pie is great and the Lobster mac & cheese is amazing!!!!! Only reason its not a 5 star in my book is that the service is so slow and rarely gets things right.

I would go back! We had ceasar salads with steak tips and drinks and they were great and affordable. I was expecting the ritz and I didn't get the ritz it is a beachside restaurant and it was what it is. The weather was icky so I guess there weren't that many people around so the palce wasn't packed but it wasn't empty either. I had a great time enjoyed the view and my food.

Well, we went for lunch on a spring day during a drive up the coast. I've only been here once and can't comment on the summertime (lack of) service. We were seated promptly, and the waitress was attentive. Our food came extremely quickly and the portion was HUGE. Not a bargain, seafood just isn't anymore, but the clams were great, the scallops tender , etc and there was enough for 2 meals, so the price was fine. No regrets at all!

I came to the Red Parrot for the first time recently. This experience was during the off season so maybe it would be different when it gets busy. We arrived for lunch and were shuffled up upstairs. For a Sunday during lunch, the place was empty. There was one other group amongst a sea of empty tables. The upstairs made me feel like I was in run down retirement home. Everything looked dated and dull. The table we sat at was covered with a cheap stained, vinyl cover. Even after the waiter wiped it down, it still looked awfully dirty. However, the view out the window onto the beach was nice. The service wasn't bad. I ordered a pizza, which was okay. I ordered a margarita pizza and it looked kinda thrown together. Not a lot of mozzerella and and a not a lot of basil. My date got a quesadilla which arrived at the table about 10 minutes after my meal did. Her quesadilla was metiocure and undercooked. The oddest part was the head chef (or that's who he said he was) wandering around forcing conversation with the patrons. He approached our table and we really had no interest in talking to him. He kept talking, saying something about how he was the head chef at the Ritz-Carlton in Boston. It must have been an awful chef who got fired and now he cooks at a 2nd rate seafood place. Or he was lying. As we finished up at around 2 PM, the staff began cleaning and stacking chairs around us. The waitress informed us they we closing. (Who closes at 2 PM on a Sunday?) We felt like we were being pressure to pay our bill and leave. So we did. I wouldn't reconmend this place to anyone. The food, atmosphere and service is C- all the way around. Look else where when you're in Hull.

Not my favorite place in Hull. It could be so much better. A couple of years ago they decided to renovate the bar section. I thought I walked into the wrong place. The original was not great but I could not believe what they did to it. They painted it teal which gave me a headache. The other bar is usually empty and boring. The only reason why I gave it 3 stars is because on warm, summer nights, the outside deck is nice overlooking the water. The food isn't really memorable.

This is one of my favorite restaurants on the South Shore. The food is always excellent and fresh and the portions are huge. During my last visit I had the fried fisherman's platter, and it was awesome! The shrimps and scallops were HUGE and tender. This place gets crowded on summer days, so plan accordingly.

Just ordered salads and beers. A little on the pricey side for what you're getting. Canned black olives on a $9 Greek salad. Really? Nice selection of beers but you are really paying for the gorgeous ocean view from the upper deck. I'd go back just to hang out on the deck.

So disappointed. We are locals who used to frequent this restaurant around 7 years ago and it was consistently good. We'd visited 2 times since then and were not happy with the food or the service. Last week we decided to give it one last try. We ordered kids' dinners for our 4 yo twins and a reuben for my husband and a fish taco for me. We didn't get any big entrees because it was a hot night and we didn't feel like cooking. We sat inside where there were only 3 tables occupied including ours. The waitress got our drinks and took our orders fairly quickly but then disappeared. After about 20 minutes the kids were getting antsy and nothing had come. Finally after over 1/2 hour another kind waitress brought our girls some oyster crackers and said the upstairs deck was busy and she was sorry for the wait. It took 40 minutes for 2 mac and cheeses, a reuben, and a fish taco order to arrive. The waitress did not even apologize. The fish taco, which I ordered because it said it came with cilantro slaw, fresh salsa, and lime aioli was DISGUSTING. A few tiny chunks of fish, miniscule amounts of DRIED cilantro sprinkled over plain cabbage, chopped tomatoes, and a drizzle of lime "aioli" which tasted like it should have been on a dessert. GROSS. When the waitress asked I told her I was disappointed and mislead by the order, she came back with a tiny cup of the "cilantro slaw" and said "there, the cooks put alot more cilantro" and slammed it in front of me. Needless to say we were extremely disappointed and the only reason this restaurant stays in business is because it caters to tourists who come from the beach and don't know better and the bar folk in the winter. If you want a good seafood meal in Hull, go to Jakes.

I was absolutely floored that people said that the food here is 'very good'. Ummm not to be snobby, but that is nonsense. I'm from the South Shore so I know the 'inside scoop' on the Parrot. And the inside scoop is heroin, oxy contin, and filth. I'm serious. The staff is all on drugs. This place is a straight up trashy dive. Hull has a lot of great restaurants, don't go here unless you want to get blacked-out wasted.

Everytime I go to The Red Parrot, I find the wait for the food is way too long. The waitstaff is luke warm, but the food usually tastes great. My advice is, don't go unless you plan on spending at least two hours there. One redeeming quality would be the million dollar views of Nantasket Beach. It's always fun in summer or winter to watch people try to surf.

Headed out to dinner with my friend on a Wednesday night. It was not very busy that night and we had to wait to be seated. A few minutes later the waitress arrived to seat us. We reviewed the options on the menu and decided on our menu. My friend ordered Chambora Martini and it was yummy per her. I took a sip and concur. She ordered the scallop roll with sweet potato fries. I ordered the seafood platter. While we waited for our meal to arrive, we were entertained by some out of towners in the next table as they were given a lesson on how to eat lobsters. Our food arrived and neither one of us were thrilled. The sweet potato fries were these HUGE wedges - she was expecting shoe string style which is what I expected too. The seafood platter wasn't anything to write home about - the lights should of gone off when I tasted the scallops and they tasted salty and the scrod looked under cooked. Scallops are suppose to be sweet! One entertaining part of the night was when my friend spilled her glass of water and we watched the water make its way to my side of the table. All in all, the food isn't anything to rave about. I've had much better at the clam shacks or seafood restaurants elsewhere. Later that evening, I came down with food poisoning from my meal. I was very lucky my friend feed me Pepto Bismal to help calm it down. I will NEVER go back to this place again for food.

I love the Red Parrot. Its an institution in hull. Perfect place to grab beach food and drinks on a summer night - especially on the roof top bar. The bartender up there is one of the best on the south shore and knows how to make a mean drink.

The Parrot is so hit or miss, it's not funny. I'll agree heartily with the poster who said that it's completely different in the summer and winter. In the summer, parking is at a premium, the wait is forever, and the service horrendous. Food takes forever to arrive, and when it does, it's either unimpressive or wrong alltogether. On the other hand, choose a nice fall evening that's maybe a bit breezy but unseasonably nice out, and have a nice, leiurely dinner on the patio upstairs. In this situation, i've found the staff friendly and accomodating, and the drinks and food tasting better! The music here is very good, and they have a room for banquets and events. Can't beat the views of Nantasket Beach, either!

I like the red parrot for its weekend brunch buffet. They have an awesome assortment to choose from including scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, home fries, bacon, sausage patties and links, toast, bagels, cereal, some seafood options, waffles, pancakes, fried bananas, toppings for waffles and pancakes, and even a salad station to make a light salad. The inside is very nice, I've seen functions here before for showers and receptions. The outside is also nice, but pretty breezy since its right on the ocean. I'd recommend this brunch to anyone. Its pretty reasonable and a great place to take the fam.

In the winter, I give this place 5 stars, in the summer, I give it 2. The food is very good, and it's not too pricey. But the service is HORRIBLE in the summer. They have 2 or 3 waitresses for at least 50 tables, and it can take literally hours for them to even come and take your order. In the winter, they have the same number of waitresses, but it's never very crowded so service is quite good. They have amazing specials, too... Monday and Tuesday they have twin lobster dinners for under $20.

This weekend, it was 80 degrees for the first time in six months. We went to Nantasket beach, and, not surprisingly, we weren't the only ones who had that idea. The beach was packed and so were the restaurants across the street. We went to the Red Parrot, with our two small children, looking for a quick, mediocre meal with a view of the ocean. We got the view of the ocean, but nothing else. It took 90 minutes for our food to come after we ordered it. Once it arrived, the order was wrong and the fish tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for at least an hour. Our kids handled the wait relatively well - better than their parents who were incensed by the fact that our waiter never bothered to ask how we were doing or to explain the situation. He just ignored us. When our bill came, we were surprised that they were charging us for the entire meal. We asked to speak to a manager. The manager came out and she treated us as if we're ingrates. "Everyone has had to wait over an hour for their food," she said, "We're really busy and we've run out of everything." Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that treating everyone like crap is a justification for bad behavior. And if you're short staffed, isn't it your fault for not anticipating that the first really warm weekend of the year might just bring big crowds in. I thought at least they would give us one of our entrees for free, or offer to bring dessert, or something. After we suggested that they make some recompense, the manager said, "oh, just go." This passive aggressive strategy of customer service leaves something to be desired. They screwed up yesterday and they should have given everyone who had to suffer through 90 minutes of waiting a little something to make them feel less abused. We will never go to this place again. Despite the lovely views from the windows, after suffering through the terrible customer service and the awful (and not what we ordered) food, I would implore anyone looking for a nice day at the beach to avoid this establishment at all costs.

OK I'm giving them an extra star for past visits. But, they did not pass the memorial day weekend test. Generally I love this place, more for the atmosphere than the food, but for beachside bar food it has been enjoyable and creative in the past. From the deck you feel like you're on a cruise and there are good options for sun or shade based on your preference (a shaded table was available immediately but we chose to wait for sun, maybe 10 minutes.) We went on Memorial Day and the wait wasn't as bad as expected for a table (altho it was after 2pm so it shouldn't have been). However, we waited OVER AN HOUR to get our food after ordering (and heard others complain of the same problem) without much attention from waitstaff and no attempt to make it up to us. The chicken sandwich was okay although not the freshest ingredients. The parrot wrap was very good and the sweet potato fries are always a treat. I would definitely recommend this for lunch during your beach outing or on a nice summer night, hopefully they will work out the staffing/kitchen issues based on the first big weekend's experience and go back to the top of my list!

Ate here last night with my boyfriend and neighbor. Worst experience in a restaurant I have ever had. Got stared at when we walked in and no one greeted us EXCEPT for this one little cute kid who was clearly working his first job. Waited almost 20 minutes for someone to come over and ask us what we wanted for drinks. The girl was very rude. After we order it too almost 45 minutes to get our food and watched as people got up and left for not being help. One of us ordered just a salad and oysters and took them 45 minutes to bring those out. And the other food was just a burger and chicken parm. And this was after we asked where our food was 30 minutes after placing our order and the girl had only placed it with the kitchen ten minutes before we asked. Which means she waited 20 minutes to place our order. I would never suggest anyone to come here with the slow service and the rude servers other than the one young boy who was there and was the only one trying to find out where our food was.

Was looking forward to a lovely easter brunch with my family. Such a disappointment!!! No one to greet us.Had to wait 45 minutes even with reservations. Bartender unable to make 3 of the 5 drinks ordered. No Sam Adams beer???? That's only the beginning so I'll make a long story short...gentleman slicing meat at buffet cut himself. He was wearing 1 bloody glove AND continued slicing the beef while another staff member went for bandaid. ...Yuck.Gross. To top it off, they removed his glove and applied bandaid right there in front of all of us AT the buffet table. I complained to a waiter, his reply: " I really don't care I'm only working here today". Wow I didn't expect that. Dessert was served out of the box on top of a bread tray. What an awful experience. I will certainly follow up with the department of health tomorrow. To top it off the food was lousy and cold! Now we're hoping we don't get sick.

Went to the Parrot for lunch on a Wednesday. It was a hot summer day. Sat on the upper deck under an umbrella..It was warm, but there was a breeze blowing, so it was very comfortable. My husband and I come here at least once a summer, if not more. We were seated right away, and the waitress was there shortly after to take our drink order. My husband and I both ordered Margaritas, which were very good, and refreshing. I ordered mussels from the appetizer menu, and my husband orderd the Red Parrot burger. The mussels were incredibly good, they came with crostini for dipping. My husband was very happy with his burger. The service was very good. We didn't have to wait long for service, and we weren't bothered too much during our meal. And the scenery is nice. Haven't been there for supper, but you can't beat this place for a summer's lunch.

Stopped in after a nice day at the beach, looking for a good cocktail to end the day.... ordered a mojito and dark and stormy off the cocktail list (pretty basic cocktails) and boy were they awful! Left both drinks full and paid and left... the bartender clearly didn't know how to make either drink, despite being on the menu..... Only reason for a 2 star is the location (GREAT view, which is why this was so disappointing).... wouldn't go again unless I planned to order a bottled beer.

Today my family and I had a wonderful Easter brunch at The Red Parrot. We were greeted by a hostess who told us our table would be a few minutes but we could check out the make your own bloody mary bar just a few steps away. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and made an awesome bloody mary! After we finished making our cocktails we were directed upstairs to our table, the view was wonderful. The place was very busy. The service was prompt as we were served coffees and juice and directed towards the buffet. All the food was great! My husband loaded his plate with prime rib, stuffed cod, and the homemade chowder, he loved every bite. My favorite part of the meal was the Belgian waffle made freshly for me by the owners father. The staff was very busy but still attentive to the large amount of guests. Overall we enjoyed our experience here and have already plans for attending mother's day brunch.

Told by hostess that we could wait on roof patio but there was no drink service up there...she said she'd come up and get us when table ready. There was drink service up there. Secondly, she never came up to get us...we finally went down to check. Hostess sat us then never told anyone we were seated...finally had to ask after 15+ min of just sitting w/no service. Then waitress ordered wrong item so we had to wait for it to be preparred again. THEN she charged us for that item twice so had to wait again for receipt to be re-done. Sat there w/empty drinks for a while as well. Definitely bad service. This is not first time we've been to the Red Parrot and the bad service theme is constant. Wont be back again unless there is a mgmt change.

Oh shush, all of you who give The Red Parrot poor reviews! This is one of my favorite local places from where I grew up. I went recently and had a great experience, both times. We were seated on the deck which has an amazing view of the ocean -- it is literally right there, so it's very pretty and you have a lovely breeze. My absolute favorite sandwich is there -- the lobster panini. The lobster panini is what to get. Don't ask questions, just trust me. It's buttery, warm, stuffed with lobster, and has red peppers and carmelized onions. It comes with fries. It is huge. It is amazing. If you really don't trust me, order a "small" lobster roll because A they're huge and B both my SO and her mom loved them. They come with large hunks of lobster coated in a mayo dressing in a warm buttered roll.

Every year our family comes here for a special lady's birthday which is held upstairs with a catered menu. First, the view can not be any better. A full view from all sides of Nantasket Beach greets us from upstairs. A buffet is what we usually get and I was very impressed how they kept it refreshed. I don't think I every saw empty salad bowls, penne chafing dish, or bread basket. We also got a wonderful pasta station where you could pick and choose your veggies, meat, and sauces. The line moved slowly but to be expected with only two preparers, four skillets and 100 people. When we did get our meals, there were well executed and fresh tasting. I have never had the menu downstairs or been here during the summer, but the special occasion catered function is very good.

A -tisket, a-tasket, my first lobster in Nantasket. No really. My first lobster anywhere. This statement seems to shock everyone I meet on the East Coast. Growing up on the Left Coast meant that on the rare occasion lobster appeared on the menu, it was the most expensive item so I never ordered it. That and the thought of ripping the creature apart was a little intimidating to a kid. Or in Jen Lancaster's words, "Can you make it slightly less prehistoric for her, dear?" And once I was grown up, I decided to wait until I got the real thing on the East Coast. Finally the day arrived and I had a local to show me the ropes. How can eating a lobster be anything but comical? You are wearing a bib, ripping, twisting, pouring out innards, cracking, stabbing, sucking. You have to work for this meal. By the end I had so much roe on my my fingers and nails, it looked like I'd been eating Cheetos. So my experience here was fantastic since it was a gorgeous day and the Red Parrot has a beautiful open air deck on the top level overlooking Nantasket Beach. There are multiple rooms (bar, restaurant, cafe) on different levels, so I'm sure the place is humming on hot summer nights. But even though it wasn't crowded during our visit, the service wasn't great. But twin lobsters (roughly 1-1/2 pounds each) for $26 wasn't bad and it is even less expensive early in the week (Monday - Wednesday?). Didn't see this special on the menu, we just knew to order it. Clearly I'm not a lobster expert and I'll defer to locals on the quality of the lobster in comparison to other places, but I'll always remember my first.

Even one star is too much. On a recent evening my wife and I found ourselves at The Red Parrot. It was early, before the dinner rush. We were seated right away and that's when the trouble began. Our waitress came by, introduced herself and then disappeared. She returned 10 minutes later to take our order. She then disappeared a second time. 40 minutes then went by with no service in sight. No drinks, No food, No Service. We promptly cancelled out food order and left. We will never go to The Red Parrot again. Don't bother!!!

Sat on the roof top deck on a beautiful summer afternoon and had the most incredible lobster salad roll with yummy crunchy fries. My sisters had the best fish tacos and when I took a bite to see how good it was (cause they were constantly saying how absolutely delicious they were) I had TOTAL ORDER ENVY!! They were the best fish tacos I had ever tasted! Very light and crunchy; tender pieces of fish almost tasted like popcornFish with an amazing slaw and avocado mayo; accompanied with the most amazing crunchy onion rings.. I must say, my lobster salad roll was awesome! Totally packed with lobster claws AND tails and mixed with just a little bit of mayo and very light on the celery; still the fish tacos are the must get next time we go. Service was exceptional and we will definitely be going back!

2 stars is more than generous for this place. Came here for the oysters, they were out. Asked for steamers, they were out.. I asked how could this be? They explained they hadn't gotten their Saturday delivery... it was Sunday night!!! The day before the weather had been crappy so I knew it hadn't been busy, & it was ghost town on a Sunday night. They either hadn't paid their bill to the supplier, or they just didn't care. The bartender in the street level bar was rude & obnoxious. I had a lobster roll for $15 & it was pretty boring & the French Fries were cold. Rumor has it they're just running this place in the ground & I believe it...

Been here a few times due to the waxing sentimental of a few parrot heads I know. Food is meh. Atmosphere creepy. Several people I know who don't bother posting to yelp went over the weekend and were mortified and embarrassed to have brought people there. What on earth is going on in Hull? Word on the street is Schooners is the only place to eat on the beach. Guys get over yourself and get it together. The glory days are over

Went last night with out of town guests largely because of the Red Parrot's fabulous view and we were pleasantly surprised! We have been eating here occasionally for about 6 or seven years, mainly for the view. We have seen several iterations of the menu over the years, and seen prices go up with not much improvement in the food. But apparently they have a new chef and I am here to say bravo! Husband's clam chowder and stuffy (quahog) were delicious. My brother-in-law was very happy with his large lobster roll and my lobster tacos were great! I must say the sweet potato fries were some of the best I have ever had, worth the extra $2. This is my 1st time on the deck and it was mostly pleasant. The downsides: no napkins on the table and we asked the waitress to bring some, with no result, so had to take some from a neighboring table. Also, there were no other people on the deck, and the "music" was too loud. They did turn it down at our request.

Food was meh, I guess what you would expect for a place on the beach. Views from the deck spectacular. Drink service OK. Waitstaff indifferent. It was the blaring angry yelling from the kitchen that will never bring me back. So uncomfortable as a guest. Chef needa a valium.

Brought two friends here for an Oceanside experience. The food was very good so kudos to the chef. However the staff is very undertrained. We first walked in and the hostess was nowhere to be found we went upstairs and was told to go back down. The hostess was there this time but she looked like she just rolled out of bed sweatpants and sloppy sweater. The waitress was sweet but had no clue about what she was doing. We had to ask for bread and when she brought it, it was warm on the outside, frozen on the inside and we were not brought any plates for the bread. She served the chowder in just the small bowl with no plate underneath so her fingers were in the chowder from having carried just the bowl. My order was delivered with the wrong sides and my friends had to ask for napkins with their lobsters. The place was incredibly noisy and not very clean. Won't be going back.
