My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for years. Last week we finally made it in. The service and food were both excellent. My wife got the pan seared scallops. They were browned with a perfect crust, while remaining tender. She also got a side if garlic mashed potatoes. The potatoes had a rich flavor without being overwhelming. I got the new York strip done medium rare. The steak came out with a rich sear on the outside, and cooked perfectly. I also ordered a side of wild mushrooms. I would definitely come here again.

New "fast food" approach at Tosca? I've always had a fabulous experience at Tosca, so when my husband suggested going out to dinner to celebrate a special occasion, Tosca was my first choice. We had a 7:30 reservation, arrived a few minutes early, and were promptly seated. So far, so good. A server arrived immediately to take our drink order, but we hadn't even had time to open the menu. She came back, got us all set with drinks, and took our order. My husband got the corn soup, and I had the burrata salad. Both were delicious. I was mid-way through the salad when a server came and asked if she could clear our plates. Really? My plate was still half full, and I had a fork in my hand. I informed her that I was still eating. Within 2 minutes, our regular server showed up and asked if we were still eating. Answer: Yes. Another 2 minutes, she's back with our entrees while I'm still finishing my salad and slides the entree plate close to in front of me. At this point I was flabbergasted. I had planned to order a glass of wine with dinner, but I was still finishing up my pre-dinner cocktail so decided to skip the wine. She offered dessert and coffee at the end, but we had been so rushed through our meal that we were still too full for dessert. As for the entrees, they were very good, but the risotto that came with both meals was bland and a bit undercooked (mine was very chewy). From beginning to end, the entire experience took just under an hour. Not exactly what you expect from a fine dining establishment. Tosca is a 40-min drive one way from where we live. We'll think twice before going back.

What an amazing experience we had here this past Mother's Day. A dear friend who recently passed away gave each of us a gift card to dine here together and we spent it that day in her vision. Everything from the delicious multigrain and white bread with olive tapenade down to the after brunch coffee was amazing. The service was outstanding. All went above and beyond. We had the pleasure of sharing the following: Roasted beets - The beets themselves were juicy and appetizing and the way they prepared the goat cheese was non traditional. It was actually breaded, fried and shaped like a crab cake. Definitely a different spin than what we're used to when we think goat cheese and beets. Cesar salad - Very delicious and fresh and I've always loved how they served it with the white anchovies and the extra crunchy croutons. Calamari - High quality and very plentiful. I love spicy food so the kick from the peppers added to the overall dish. Island Creek raw oysters - The nice mignonette sauce into the oysters added an extra WOW factor. Classic Margarita pizza - Not greasy, nice and thin. A true flatbread pizza. Porcini Pizza - Same as the Margarita although we thought this could've had a tad more truffle flavor added. Pan seared scallops - 4 large silver dollar sized scallops with a healthy serving of risotto. Loved it more this time than the previous times I've been here for scallops years ago. Truffled parmesan tater tots - Now this was star of the show. Very unique and definitely a must try. The inside of the tater tots were like truffled mashed potatoes while the exterior was light and crunchy. Big hit on our table. If I could give 10 stars, this would rightfully deserve it! Broccolini - This is probably the only dish we weren't too crazy about. I loved the mesquite taste but the veggie was way overcooked to the point where it was a little soggy. Personally, I like a little bit more with a snap and crunch when I bite into it. Overall, a solid 5 star experience with the exception of the broccolini. Highly recommended for a special occasion if you're looking for something great in the South Shore.

If your looking for great food, service and ambiance Tosca is it. I've lived in the South Shore all my life and Tosca was always a favorite and still is. If your going to do the butchers selection of meats be sure to split a side or two, they are a lot and I never finished any of them. I would also recommend a reservation as they do fill up quickly.

Food was decent.... Nothing to rave about... They try to be a Mortons / Capital Grille of the South Shore. I wasn't impressed. The place was extremely loud and I sat next to a large birthday group where the birthday boy got so drunk he actually fell into another couple... It was PATHETIC... I wrote a letter expressing my displeasure with this situation and they did not respond. I will NOT be going back and I will definitely steer many people away from this restaurant. You want fine dining, stick to the REAL steakhouses not some second rate wannabe....

After a few great visits a few years ago, I decided to celebrate my birthday at Tosca last weekend with my husband, and I'm so glad I did. We sat in the back area, not the main restaurant, but for the Saturday night of Memorial Day weekend, and no reservation, it was just fine with us. We started with the box of shrimp and it was delicious! For the entrees we got cod and chicken under a brick. Husband said chicken was amazing, my cod was ok... No fault of the restaurant, just not totally my taste. We got the tots to share and they were the highlight of the dinner for me! I'd go back and have those with a glass of wine and be just fine! Looking forward to our next visit.

Had dinner here on Mother's Day. Have been here many times before and always enjoyed it. Really nice setting yesterday on a beautiful day. Got there a little early and we waited at the bar. From that point on the servers were very friendly and professional. The table was in a smaller and very comfortable dining area. Quiet and relaxed Liver and onion and calamari appetizers disappeared quickly. The five of us each had a different entree and everyone was very happy with their choice. My short rib meatball dinner was outstanding Great experience

Mostly delicious. Risotto was a tad bland. Other than that it was a great dinner.

We love Tosca! Everything about it, is restaurant perfection! Typically, we dine in the bar, and on Saturdays, they have live music, which we enjoy. We both have our favorite meals: the pork and flank steak. The wine list is exceptional, and generously served, desserts are varied and flavorful, not just sweet. Service is attentive and friendly. Make reservations, or you will have to wait. One of the other reasons that I love Tosca, is bc it is right between Hingham center and the harbor: great location!!

I am writing this to hopefully save someone else . My boyfriend and I ate here on our anniversary and he now has a stomach infection caused by cross contamination from this place. The night we came home around 1 am he complained of horrible stomac pain that was unbearable and couldn't leave the bathroom . He was sick for two weeks straight after numerous blood work and snakes he was diagnosed with parasites in his body and came from the seafood from that restaurant . After more blood work he was diagnosed with a stomach infection which the doctor called on a Saturday to treat. The bacteria that was in the food poisoned him to the point it could have long term effects . He has never been the same . We are currently awaiting more results and hopefully he can be healed . The food tasted good and atmosphere was nice but I am in hopes that this can save someone else from this or maybe someone else can come forward.

Good restaurants on the South Shore. Great atmosphere, steak cooked to perfection and large wine menu. Very consistent.

Well, I stick with 4 stars but this time we ordered steaks and that made all the difference. I had the filet. My husband had the strip steak. That's pretty much how it always goes with us. We're creatures of habit. They were both delicious. They were grilled and had a nice char on them. I liked that. it was different than how a lot of places do it. No complaints at all about the steaks. Also, the sides were great. Truffle parmesan potato tots. They were like big fluffy, truffled mashed potatoes in a crispy potato shell. Excellent broccoli rage too, but sautéed in a little too much oil for my taste. I'm going in reverse order, because we started with a cheese plate that I forgot to mention. It was good. They do a great cheese plate and we prefer to eat it first, as opposed to as a dessert because we're always too full by then. My only problem is that the server knew nothing about the cheese and couldn't really tell us anything about that. I was kind of disappointed because I like to know a little bit of detail about what I'm eating. Our server was admittedly new and what he lack din some things he made up for in others. He had a great personality. One thing I have to mention: we were there on July 4th and it rained all day and night. Remember that? Well, the ceiling was leaking, on my husband. He was a good sport about it but we decided to move the table a few inches so it would stop leaking on him. We mentioned it to the waiter because once we moved the table there was a wet spot on the floor. We didn't want anyone to slip. He said "Thanks, this is an old building. I'll take care of it". That was when we first arrived. No one ever cleaned up that water the entire time we were there. Luckily, no one slipped that I saw, but still.

We stumbled onto this place after a day out at World's End. Very pleasantly surprised. Very high quality food all excellently prepared. And each item we ordered showed the hand of a chef who had concocted it with care and inventiveness. The box of shrimp was amazing. The shrimp tasted fresh, not previously frozen. And the breading was light and effervescent. The waitress advised us they mix seltzer water with flour to make it extra light. The fennel sausage pizza was huge and amazing, with its sweet balsamic reduction contrasting with the sausage. My partner had the short ribs and thought it would be a perfect dish for winter, but served on root vegetables, was a bit heavy for spring. Still delicious though. We also had a delicious caesar salad, clearly prepared with care. All the food served at tables nearby looked incredible too. The only minor criticisms we had were that the waitress, while really nice and gracious, seemed to be bluffing her way through explanations. For example, she tried to entice us with a limited time special of "ramps mushrooms". The dish of course had ramps AND mushrooms. But any question we had was returned with a confident response that was wrong, like she had only been half-listening to the chef as he explained preparations. Also, the pistachio cake dessert was so dry it crumbled completely. Maybe it was stale? And then finally, after dessert, when we were totally stuffed, the waitress brought over.... a free small dessert - shortbread and fudge. Delicious, mind you. But if we'd known they were serving it, we never would have ordered a regular dessert. These are all minor quibbles though. We are definitely going back. One other point - the restaurant is beautiful - an old converted train station, definite steampunk steakhouse vibe with high ceilings, exposed wood and brick and metal, and tables spaced apart reasonably so you don't feel like you're eating with your neighbor. Who knew there could be such fine dining this far out of Boston? Yes, I think it is deserving of 5 stars.

Consistently good Italian food in Hingham, it's been there for 20+ years and has been good almost every time I've been there. My only complaint is that it can be very loud when it's crowded.

I ate here during a business trip to the Boston area. Meal was superb all around. For appetizer I had the caprese, which was just superb, especially the mozzarella. Being in Boston I felt obligated to order seafood over meat but the waitress encouraged me to try their steaks which are aged on premise. I went with the rib eye and was very pleased. It was well cooked, although not evenly, and very flavorful. Good choice. They have a superb wine list.

You had me at the door... Thanks to low lighting, white table-cloths, dark wood, and comfy seats, the ambience here was very intimate despite the massive vaulted ceilings. I came here with the husb for a romantic dinner, which the ambience was perfect for, but I can also see why people come here regularly for a casual meal given a wide range of dining options: wine bar, chef's bar, booths; and wide range of menu options: pizzas, select cuts of aged meat, pastas, appetizers, entrees, and of course a solid selection of seafood. Highlights: + LOBSTER CAPPELLETTI. yum. real, noticeable, and flavorful chunks of lobster all wrapped up in fresh pasta dough and served with a tomato broth flavored with fennel. think of cappelletti as torteloni. husb and I shared this and the chef gave us each our own dish, which was helpful. $18 for the 1st-course size came with a total of 6 nuggets. this was the first time I've ever had a lobster pasta dish where the flavor of the lobster remained contained in the lobster meat. nicely done. + 16 oz DRY AGED RIBEYE (butcher's reserve menu). medium. served as is with the topping offered on the side. I got truffle butter (real flecks of truffle whipped into what looked like a cup of butter ... yowzers). I love ribeye. The meat didn't taste seasoned which surprised me, so I had to add salt, but it was a lovely cut of meat with just enough fat marbled in for extra flavor oomf (sooooo good). At $49, this was the priciest cut of meat on the menu and I couldn't eat it all (womp womp). + CAESAR SALAD. Just a solid caeser served with or without anchovy filets (and you get your choice of white or brown). Large enough to share with your date if you're willing. $9. Other things: + HEIRLOOM TOMATO SPECIAL. delicious, juicy, and colorful tomatoes were kind of hacked into wedges and the arugula below were a big soggy under the weight of the tomato juice that sat in the bottom of the plate. maybe thick slices would provide more appeal. some of the goat cheese crumbles were melted by the time the plate arrived and there was definitely enough to share with four people as an appetizer. the flavor was fine but it didn't look like it was made with care. + PAN-SEARED HALIBUT SPECIAL. nice cut of fish served with an unimpressive bacon risotto. perhaps the fish could have been cooked slightly less and seasoned slightly more. didn't knock the socks off. Our server was great. She was friendly, confident, and helpful. I loved how none of the tables were too crowded together and really just can't get over the gorgeous interior. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend in the area. Oh and as a note of advice, the pasta prices on the menu are for app sized. You can up-size to a dinner portion for a $15 add-on.

Tosca is a great Italian restaurant where you go to impress a first date, head over for drinks and eats or just head over to enjoy the smooth and danceable jazz by Geoffrey Dana Hicks and Soul Temple Band (check band schedule with Tosca).

Not impressed at all. The food was cold. I ordered the chicken under a brick. I've had much better in other places. Definitely not a place I'd come back to.

Look, this food might be good for Hingham, but it's really not that great. The portions are generous, the ambiance is nice, and the service is excellent, the dishes are unique, but really bottom line it doesn't taste all that good. I've been here a couple times and tried about half the menu, and it's just a solid OK for the price.

Wine list excellent. We sat at the bar to wait for our table and the bartender was welcoming and friendly - this sets the tone for the rest of the dinner. Service was excellent. we order beet salad everywhere but tosca's was the best. Steak was fantastic as was the chicken. Bread pudding dessert was yummy! Great experience - this restaurant is consistent and never disappoints. We'll return often.

Every time we come here we say to each other, why don't we come more often? The food is fantastic. First rate steaks served with a variety of interesting sauces. My favorite caesar salad of all time - crisp, clean with a hint of lemon. And those Short Rib Meatballs with homemade pasta!! (And as an aside, I am highly sensitive to MSG and these are the first and only restaurant short ribs that I have found to be really free of MSG.) Tosca has it all; a talented chef using high quality ingredients in a beautiful setting with top notch service.

Delicious meal here! We had pan seared Scallops which were the best. Large and tender, on top of English pea and asparagus risotto. The other party had Balsamic Pork Tenderloin which he said was excellent, full of flavor. Service was quite good and professional. We will for sure be back here soon !

Tosca?! What happened to you? I used to love you so. I had my special bday dinner tonight and the meal was, meh. I always get Chicken Under a Brick, and it was downright bland. Our service was terrible. Our waiter (J) looked disheveled and dirty. He was no where to be found when we needed something. You used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but honestly, I don't think we will be back.

WOW... what a meal!!! Started off with an amazing steak tartare (first time having it finally) and it was absolutely delicious. Had a bunch of fun sides to mix with it and included these cheese-baked thins to scoop up the meat and some mini cornichons and pickled onions and radishes to cleanse your palate. The roasted red pepper dipping sauce and bread for the table was delicious and held us over until appetizers came in, but weren't too filling which was nice. The short-rib braised meatballs with mini gnocchi/cavatelli were amazing as well. Also had some of the truffled parmesan potato tots that melted in your mouth. And also the skirt steak over panzanella salad was perfectly cooked and the sauce was legendary. First steak my wife didn't put A1 on! Ha! They even brought out a brownie/cookie dish on the house for my birthday! Just one small thing that bugged me. The waitress at the main bar brushed me off big-time when trying to get drinks and I was more than polite. Gave me the hand and said one minute and waited another 15 min ignoring me completely. The back bar where the awesome jazz music was, the bartender there was super friendly and was very quick to serve us at his even more crowded bar. Taking photos for people and gave excellent wine suggestions. Go there FIRST after you check in if there is a wait. Also the host kept an eye on us and checked in to let us know we wouldn't be waiting much longer for a table which we appreciated cause it was super busy! The drinks are perfect and strong and great taste for modest price. Probably the best vodka tonic and dirty martini I've ever had (blue cheese olives what what!!!!) Other than the stupid bartender chick everything was fantastic down to the bus boy food suggestions and our professional and friendly waitress. Don't let stupid bartender chick ruin what was probably a top 5 meal of our life. This place is an absolute must try which we randomly and luckily found as a last minute shot in the dark for a romantic birthday dinner for me and my wife. Enjoy!!

Exceptional meal, atmosphere and server! We went to Tosca for our 25th anniversary and were not disappointed in the least. I had Chicken under a Brick, which was crispy and juicy and fabulous. The bread, the salads, appetizers, main course -- everything was just incredible. The server (I wish I could remember her name... she used to own a wine shop) was absolutely amazing. Classy, friendly, polite, attentive, and the bus boys were equally helpful, but almost invisible. Perfect. It's casual, but elegant at the same time. I wore a sports jacket, but there were children there, too. If you want to avoid the Boston parking experience, but want amazing food in a warm, wood-and-brick environment, head to Hingham. It's worth the drive.

Pretty impressed by this little spot. Had a date night here- dim lighting, white linen table cloths, candles, and a rose on every table set the mood. Every table was full which speaks volumes of Tosca's reputation. High ceilings and open kitchen give the restaurant a modern feel. Service was stellar- got a table immediately on a Friday night. When we ordered a bottle of wine the server never let our glasses run dry; she constantly came around to refill... you can't get much better than that. Our burratta salad came out quickly- seemed fresh and tasty but since my date is a gluten free guy he would have appreciated more tomatoes and less bread. The minute we were done, our entrees came out with no lag time. His filet was cooked perfectly and served with a huge heaping plate full of mash potatoes and a side of asparagus. I got the skirt steak which came on top of a panzanella salad. It was delicious and flavors were robust! We topped the night off with after dinner cocktails and the waitress brought some truffles to go with them- a nice, classy touch. Overall a great experience and a surprising find on the south shore- will definitely be back!

Seated promptly in the smaller dining room the four of us were greeted by a great waiter. The food was exceptional start to finish and this waiter was well prepared to answer questions and make good suggestions. I had sirloin medallions which were cooked perfectly on great mashed potatoes and asparagus. Very tasty and plentiful portions. Two of our party had scallops which were cooked perfectly and tasty. The fourth diner in our party had a seafood stew which he loved. Starters of Caesar salads, a grilled peach and arugula salad, and a tomato, basil mozzarella salad were big hits as well. We finished with the vanilla and rum raisin gelato which we loved. I haven't been there for dinner in a while but we will make it a regular stop given the exceptional experience we had last night.

I had high hopes for Tosca on seeing reviews here on yelp, and on a tired rainy night after driving from NYC we were excited to go. I should have known that things were going to go downhill when we came in with our daughter and we were seated in the lounge area ... 1) manager promptly came over to ask my husband to remove his baseball cap. We were in a lounge area where baseball game was on a tv screen. Nearby customers were in jeans and sneakers. Really?? 2) Panzanella was so overly doused in dressing that the salad was soggy. Could not finish 3) No kids menu. Don't bother bringing children here. 4) Pizza was light crispy and fairly priced. 5) Husband's cod was light and well seasoned, and a very generous portion. He didn't enjoy the sweet pepper/beans combo. 6) Wait staff was excellent. In all, if you are out for a date night or just drinks and no kids, and are up for spending north of $20+ an entree for dining that doesn't knock your socks off, come here.

We had my son's rehearsal dinner at Tosca after a first visit for drinks and apps. The staff at our first visit was helpful-brought out additional food for us to try and enjoy. It was awesome and helped to make the decision. We just had the dinner party for 22 people for the party and everything, from set up, cheese tray-refilling of crackers and bar service. We actually asked for a pasta dish from the café, that was off the fixed menu and they were able to accommodate. People raved about the food-my salmon was the best I have ever had. So happy we chose this venue.

My wife and I went here for dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant was fairly crowded, as was the bar area. There is ample seating space however, so it did not look like people were waiting that long if they wanted a table. We were seated near the kitchen area, and we noticed they also had bar stools that were right along the counter of the kitchen. It would offer a great opportunity to watch the chefs prepare the food. Even from where we were sitting we could hear the head chef call out each ticket. For an appetizer we started with the calamari. The pieces were large and fresh and it wasn't overly breaded. The only thing I would note is the salt. A lot of salt. Unfortunately, for me at least, that seemed to be a theme throughout each dish. My wife didn't mind it as much, and maybe I am over thinking it, but my opinion would be to tone down the salt. Along with the appetizer I ordered the three monks mixed drink. It was very good. They had a good menu of martinis as well. For our entrees we had the scallops and the wild boar bolognese. Both were excellent (albeit slightly too salty for me). The portion of the bolognese was huge. I think they could have also given at least one more scallop (four for almost $30). On the side we ordered the mushroom misti, which again due to the salt...I wasn't sure if they had come canned. We also ordered the potato tots, very good, yet again salty. To tie things up we ended with the chocolate torta. It comes accompanied with a scoop of a caramel chip ice cream and whip cream. It was very good. Delicious one may say, especially since it was lacking in salt! The service was good. The atmosphere talkative. And the crowds were large. Tosca is a very good restaurant, and I'm bordering on 3-4 star range, but the overuse of salt is just bogging my opinion down.

my family has been coming here for years. my aunts wedding shower was here, my nana and nono have had anniversary dinners and birthdays here.. we love tosca. the wine room is my favorite. - service is fabulous and so friendly - Caesar salads are great, have a nice lemon kick in the dressing. - everything pasta is obviously amazeballs. - truffled Parmesan potato tots are also ridic. - the number one entree you MUST get is chicken under a brick, with the polenta and caramelized onion Marsala-ish sauce (I forget what it's really named and it doesn't matter, it's heaven). I never order meat-based dishes, but if I do it's only this dish. it's impossible crispy on the outside and moist and flavorful inside. but the kicker in this dish is the polenta and sauce. it's indescribable- just get it. and dessert? oh god. my fave is the flourless chocolate torte with mint chocolate chip gelato. my mother loves the creme-brûlée, which is coffee flavored. just go to tosca. * sidenote: to the yelper whining about management requesting your husband remove his hat: yeah, it's a nice restaurant and it's polite to take it off in almost any restaurant, so I don't get why you'd complain about that. also it isn't somewhere to take kids, so don't expect a kids menu. that is what I enjoy most about tosca, there are no screaming children making a mess.

Brick chicken? What brick?! Watch them sauté a statler breast in a sauté pan, chicken was bland, room temptature. Served over lumpy desheveled polenta. Service??? Unless you're wearing the jewls from the Titanic prepare to not be cared for. Was told couldn't wear baseball cap but the senior citizen on the side of us was ok with her Charlie the choo-choo trains hat? Chicken liver and onions was more like i spy liver in a hay pile of cipollini onions and cipollini bulbs. Home made pasta was cold, tasteless, undercooked, boxed pasta... fair warning. Watch kitchen through side window before eating, several major board of health violations. Milk out at room temp, precooked mashed potatoes held at room temp, cooks not wearing any gloves, cross contaminating all foods they touched from raw products to ready to eat food. Stay away

So we ate here nearly a month ago and I'm still thinking about this meal... Bouf F. suggested we eat here at the recommendation of his co-worker and it surely did not disappoint. We started with the Porcini pizza, be still my heart. Now, I am always a bit excited yet reluctant to order anything with truffle oil. I think it can totally overwhelm a dish or it can be a brilliant addition. In this case? Brilliance. We ate half the pizza and had our server pack the rest up so we wouldn't fill up before our entrees. For me, the highly recommended chicken 'under a brick', for him, the salmon. Though we both enjoyed our entrees, I think we enjoyed mine more. That piece of chicken was cooked to perfection... crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. And the polenta? Let's just say, if I had to eat that every day for the rest of my life I wouldn't hate it. I tried a bite of Bouf F.'s salmon and found that to be perfectly cooked too. For the quality of the food 5 stars, no doubt. The prices are a tad high... and I get that it's Hingham and it's a classy restaurant but they are enough to deter me from going for any reason other than a special occasion. Along the same lines, while I do subscribe to the "quality-over-quantity" school of thought, I thought the portion size for both the pizza and the salmon entree were a bit skimpy for their prices. Would absolutely love to go back... most likely next time my folks are in town so they can pick up the tab!

Went to Tosca for the first time. Everything was excellent. It's heavy comfort food, but fresh and piping hot. Service was amazing - real nice experience. Don't bother with the panzanella salad - overdressed and not much flavor. Had the tater tots, amazing and the chicken/brick - outstanding. Heading back in January and taking my family for my sister's birthday. 10 of us, so that will be the true test. Enjoy!

Tosca is simply one of the best restaurants in Massachusetts, and I cannot praise it enough. I brought my wife here on one of our first dates. She had never been exposed to dining like this before, and I knew this, so I brought her here to give her a lasting impression of what life would be like, dating (and now being married to) a foodie. Since then, we have brought friends and family here for the same kind of experience. When we know we are going to be taking the special people in our lives out for a nice dinner, we always bring them to Tosca. There is no such thing as a negative experience here, and after seven years of coming here, this still remains true. The food, service, and ambiance, are of the highest standards, which is the very reason that Tosca has earned a numerous awards. When approaching the building, your senses are captivated by the smells from the wood fired oven, giving you're a preview of what will be in store for you. Tosca is located in an early 1900's market place, and remnants of the past are evident, as you walk of up the cobble stone hallway, leading to the bar and dining room. Mahogany wood throughout the dining room sets the tone for a romantic evening with warm colors and candle lit tables. The wooden beams across the cathedral ceilings transform this once factory-like building into a rustic, but romantic escape for the evening. The décor is simple, but alluring, and along with the open kitchen, sets the stage for one of the best dining experiences you will ever have. Its historic American charm mixed with old world Italian flare makes Tosca both intimate and lively at the same time. One of my favorite items that is always on the menu, is the wild board bolognese. This exotic sounding dish is one of Tosca's most delicious items. A boar shoulder is smoked for what seems like hours, then it is tossed with zucchini ribbons, juniper, and hand cut ziti, leaving your taste buds delightfully pleased, and screaming for more. But my absolute favorite appetizer has to the Tosca's classic fried calamari. And by using the term "classic" Tosca is being way too modest, because the only "classic" component of their version is the fried part. It is lightly breaded, and fried, and then lightly tossed in lemon and basil. Other restaurants' versions of this dish can tend to get careless when tossing calamari in too much liquid which makes it loose its crunchy texture. It is served with a spiced aioli and, homemade pickles. The pickles range from sweet, to tart, to mildly spicy, creating a surge of flavors dancing around in your mouth. Thursday and Friday nights feature a "steak house" menu with an array of aged prime meats, and a few seafood items, in addition to their regular menu. No matter what you order here, you will be blown away every time; even if you are the most finicky of eaters. You can't end a perfect meal without trying one of Tosca's tantalizing desserts creations. No outsourcing of desserts here, as Tosca has an in-house pastry chef, and another valuable asset behind Tosca's award winning success. Classic deserts like chocolate chip cookies are taken to new heights when cooked with brown sugar and served with dulce de leche and hot fudge. The carrot cake is glazed with a walnut anglasie (as opposed to the traditional cream cheese frosting), served with a scoop of pineapple sherbet (also made in-house). I have tried both, among other deserts that scandalously seduce you into trying one, even though the button on your pants are ready to pop off from the luxurious meal you just ate. It is far too easy to become a glutton when the food is this good, and the aromas from brick oven possess you with its enticingly sinful, and yet glorious aromas. I have been a Tosca fanatic for 10 years, and I still get a head rush from their lusciously decadent sweet treats...and probably from being overly full, but loving the pain of being full, and money well spent on a fantastic meal from start to finish. The food and ambiance, while they are both very important, are only part of what makes this place so outstanding. Service, service, service! Chris Sugrue, Tosca's General Manager is always friendly accommodating, and consistent in both regards. Not once, in the nearly 10 years of coming here, has he ever forgotten to check on my wife and me, to ensure that our experience was better than the last time we came in. And the servers are always more than hospitable in addition to being knowledgeable. At one of our last visits to Tosca, we ordered a couple of bottles of wine, and the server knew to keep our glasses full--we didn't pour our own wine once that evening. The service here always has, and always will be, extraordinary. I think it's obvious that this is one of our favorite restaurants, and we would love for others to also experience the bliss that is Tosca.

What is more disappointing than having a dish in a fancy restaurant (like Tosca) and then find out that you can buy the same dish in a supermarket? The meet balls in Tosca are like that!!! They buy the meet balls somewhere and put them on a plate and sell them to you... very unprofessional! I'm extremely disappointed with this restaurant.

This just may be my new favorite restaurant! The BF and I went out for date night and arrived a few minutes early for our 7:30 reservation this past Saturday. The host was friendly and we were seated promptly, which is a big plus in my book; I hate having to wait when I've made a reservation. The wine list is pretty extensive and included may affordable choices; we went with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc on special for $40. It was refreshing and crisp, a perfect start to the meal. The menu was equally interesting; I'm pescetarian so my choices were more limited, but there was still a good variety--and if I ate meat, there would surely be many things I would love to try! I ended up ordering the Slow Roasted Beets for an appetizer, while the BF ordered the Chilled Cucumber Gazpacho. I'm not a fan of gazpacho so I didn't try it, but my dish was divine. The beets were perfectly roasted and flavorful, and the goat cheese was lightly breaded and fried to crispy perfection. For entrees, I ordered the Wood Oven Roasted Scottish Salmon, and he got the Pan Seared Scallops. Both were excellent. My salmon with perfectly cooked, and the smoked tomatoes that sat on top of the fish cut through some of the fattiness of the salmon and richness of the potatoes it was served with--it was a really tasty and memorable dish. BF said his scallops were great as well--I tried a bite and they were nicely cooked. We decided to try the Banana Doughnuts for dessert, and it was good, but not on par with the other dishes. The doughnuts were light and fluffy but didn't really taste like banana, and the peanut butter parfait it was served with overpowered the other elements on the plate. I'd order a different dessert next time. Our server Taylor was friendly and professional throughout the evening. She made sure our water and wine glasses were refilled promptly and our dishes didn't linger on the table. There was a little delay in between the appetizers and entrees, but I was enjoying myself, so I didn't really mind. The bill was more than we usually spend on dinner, but the meal was really memorable so I think it's worth it for a special occasion. I'm looking forward to coming here again soon!

There are a few great restaurants on the South Shore and Tosca's is definitely one of them. The smells alone when you pull up to the parking lot is enough to get your taste buds moving in the right direction. A perfect restaurant for a date night or a meal after work. Always I leave thinking about when I will return. Truly one of the best restaurants around.

The food was exquisite and the service was flawless. I've been there three times and it was great. Our waiters were polite and always checking on us. The atmosphere wasn't too loud or too dark. The price was reasonable considering that the food was fresh and 100% delicious. I love this place and I can't wait to go back!

Ugh, I gave this place 4 shots. I never had one food item that I liked here. Last night I had a Caprese Salad....how can you mess that up? They did! It was so disgusting that I couldn't even finish it! The cheese was a flavorless, soupy mess. They had two measly sprigs of basil and then a few tiny tomatoes. My boyfriends mother had a Ceaser that looked like a two year old could have made (all lettuce barely any toppings...for 10 bucks you kind of expect something better than that). I could tell she wasn't impressed. I kept returning to this restaurant because I love the atmosphere and really wanted to find something I could eat there! No matter how cool the atmosphere is...I'm done!

Excellent .. One of the best in Boston or Metro for Italian! I haven't been to Tosca in a couple of years but we ventured down there this past week. Every other time I've been there the experience has been a solid 5 stars but this experience wasn't so good. If I rated just this night I'd give them 3 stars but i'm giving them 4 due to past great experiences. Unfortunately, the chef was heavy handed with the dressing and the salads were over dressed. We only ate part of them and took the rest home. We added some more greens at home to our left over salads and they were perfect fo the next days lunch. They have an amazing panzanella salad and other than fine NYC dining no other restaurant gets that salad done right, Tosca does. We had the shrimp however, they were somewhat greasy and were not seasoned well and the sauce they are served with had no flavor, I can't say I'd order them again. The Scallops w/Risotto & Pea shoots was a perfect dish. Service was excellent and the server noted the salad issue and offered to have them remade, but I had already determined how to save them and have a good leftover experience. Dessert there is fantastic, but we had no room and had somewhere to go afterward so we didn't order any to go. Later that night I kept thinking about the dessert list, we should have chanced it. Tosca is casual fine dining and somewhat pricey. When Zucchini Blossoms come in to season run .... don't walk there, they make the most amazing stuffed ones when they are in season! As you can see, I am a fan despite this experience.

Went. For my sisters special bday dinner with my family. We had high hopes as we have find memories from there. Our table was right next to the loud bar and we asked for a table against the back wall just for this reason. The waitress was great, the apps were good as well but the entrees EH. The scallops were not tastey at all on a bed of so so risotto. The steakhouse menu prices are insane considering its a la carte. This has always been my go to for special occasions, but for 500. Plus I expect perfection :(

Absolutely FABULOUS!!!!! If I could give you 6 stars I would! From being greeted at the door from the wonderful hostess who sat us at a perfect table right down to our 5 star meal this place was all around perfect! Even our waiter was spot on!!! This was my first time at Tosca! It definitely will not be my last. I ordered for an appetizer the Mushroom Aranchini's! They came on the plate so perfect it was like an artist put them there. There were 4 perfectly round Aranchini's! They were absolutely delicious! They were cooked perfectly and piping hot! I loved them! I also decided to try the Wild Boar Bolognese! I was so glad I did. It was by far, one of the BEST pasta dishes I have ever tasted in my life. I had to save some for my Husband so he could try this amazing dish!!! I cannot wait to come back to this restaurant. I have to come back with my Husband. He'll love it. I was with my Girlfriends. They had the Roasted Beet Salad and they also loved it! Also the Butternut Squash Lunes! They were raving about everything! Thank you for an amazing night!!!

I would return again in a New York minute! I took a good friend here as a 'Thank You!' for hosting me and my 2 dogs for a week. We made 7pm reservations for a Sunday night. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated at a table for 4 immediately. It was comfortable seating, far from the other patrons. The ambience was perfect! We couldn't overhear anyone but we could comfortably talk. Our waitress was excellent, although seemed a little harried. The presentation of each dish was excellent and service was relaxed but timely. The table was cleared from each course efficiently. I had a peach gazpacho that was outstanding! The soup was pureed and very tasty! I could taste the peach and basil. Yum! I had the angry lobster. The corn was clearly fresh and burst in my mouth! The sauce was spicy and hot. My mouth was dancing with delight! There were four small (1" square) pieces of lobster and I as a bit disappointed in this. There is a lot of lobster out there this year so there was no need to be skimpy! My friend ordered the Angus Sirloin Medallions. I expected large coin-sized slices of sirloin. Elaine got 2 4"x3"x2" pieces of angus sirloin! They had a paprika rub which she loved, but thought it was a bit salty. This was served with asparagus, mashed potatoes and gravy. It could have easily served 2 and possibly 3. Elaine loved her meal. For dessert, I got the Chocolate Torta and Elaine got the Coconut Cake. The sizes were large. I finished mine and now have a 'too full' feeling. The torta was served with a mint chocolate chip ice cream which had crystallized. I ate every last drop and it took the A+ dessert to a B+ level. I didn't mention the iced ice cream until after I paid the bill so they could fix the problem but know it didn't wreck my meal. I will definitely be back.

My boyfriend took me to Tosca a few weeks ago for a celebratory dinner. I have been eyeing Tosca for a long time now, and we were waiting for a special occasion to go. For an appetizer, we ordered the Maine Moosebec Mussels, which included a creamy basil pesto broth, wood roasted cherry tomatoes, and grilled ciabatta bread, $12. The broth was okay, but I was surprised at broth's consistency (not my favorite). For an entree, I ordered the Wood Oven Roasted Scottish Salmon, which included homemade cavatelli pasta, stewed artichokes, and lemon butter, $26. At such a steep price, I was expecting a flawless dish, but my salmon was overcooked and dry. However, I did enjoy the cavatelli pasta. My boyfriend had the ribeye special with roasted fingerling potatoes and a side of the spicy broccolini. He thought his ribeye was cooked well, but the cut was very fatty. To be honest, I was a little disappointed with Tosca. The food was on par with many restaurants I've been to, but I was underwhelmed because of all the rave reviews I've heard and read about the restaurant. With the addition of our 2007 Malbec, the bill seemed so high for such a mediocre dinner.

If you've ever wondered what Real Housewives of the South Shore would look like, go to Tosca's and check out the bar in the wine room full of sparkly blown out blondes with their older husbands. Locals like to say this place is on par with what you'd find in the city, and if they're just talking about prices, it's true. The food is above average, but not exceptional. The service, though, is top notch.

It had been many years since I visited Tosca and I am sorry I waited so long. We did not have reservations on a busy Saturday night but did not have a long wait. We were seated in the Wine room and listened to live Jazz music while sipping on wine. Our service was fantastic and we began our meals with the Porcini Mushroom Pizza. This is a must have! I was completely full after that but my very fussy companion ordered the Angus Medallions. Thankfully they were cooked just to his liking and nothing needed to be sent back *phew* We both sampled the creme brulee which was perfect. I will be sure to return to Tosca very soon.

Really wanted to give this place a 5 star, because it is clear they know what they are doing and the food was delicious....but our server experience was just so-so. The decor and atmosphereis very romantic, classy, warm, and inviting. We dined on a Sunday night the evening after a huge blizzard recently. We sat the kitchen bar--very fun for foodies like us to watch the staff prepare food. The wine list is good. We didn't try any cocktails. Had the Pork Costoletta--absolutely scrumptious (although the risotto, while very tasty, was a bit gummy). Shared the S'mores Fondue--it was just ok--it's not fondue at all though--it comes with some yummy tea cookies, toasted marshmellows, and what was basically good chocolate pudding--wasn't even warm, much less "fondue"--kinda scratching our heads over why they call it fondue. We told our server about the fondue, and she just kinda shrugged...which leads to the missing stars in my review. Our server was an automatron--and not a good one at that. She never re-filled our water glasses (which we emptied about 1/2 into our almost 3 hour meal), I had to flag her down to get another glass of wine (broke a server 101 there...makes for unhappy guest + lost revenue opp), she never checked on us about the meal, and it took forever to get our bill. The place was not full at all--all the staff was just standing around talking to each other--such a classic mistake. Why not make our meals/experience amazing, instead of just good? This restaurant clearly knows what they are doing, yet I have to wonder as we watched the staff chit chat all night--why was our service just "ok"?? For those prices, it should have been amazing. The service was distractingly bad. I almost never just tip 15%...but I only tipped a scant 15% on just the food/drink...I think I may have even given 14% . Haha. But I always tip very well...that was my little protest. :). My husband was laughing at me. Too bad...we would go back though, but I hope to give it a 5 star next time.

This is a world-class restaurant right in Hingham, MA. The steaks and pasta are outstanding, the service is very good, and the atmosphere is pleasant and romantic. If you go to Hingham and you're OK with spending a few bucks, don't miss Tosca.

Came here a few weeks ago for an anniversary dinner and it was good! Not the best meal we have ever had but we liked it! The service was great and the food was very good. We started off with a bottle of wine and the steak tar tar. THAT was really good. On par with LockeOber in Boston, (RIP). For dinner I had the Boar Bolognese and the other half had the steak medallions. The boar bolognese was very tasty but 30 dollars for pasta and a few pieces of boar? Ya no....not 30 dollars good.

Didn't want to deal with the Boston traffic so the Hubby and I went out to celebrate at Tosca instead. The Italian eatery in Higham had everything we wanted for a romantic date night. Good food we could share with each other, a large selection of wines to choose from and to top it off a surprise jazz band that played live music later in the evening. We didn't make reservations until late, so we ended up getting a seat in the wine room and we're so glad that we did. It's a smaller room off to the side that is significantly quieter then the main dining room. When you're on a date night this is important. The ambiance of the place is dark and intimate. Exposed brick with old timey Italian and french pictures on the walls. Loved the huge windows as well as the floor to ceiling wine cellar in the wine room (and from time to time you could see a waitress climb the ladder to get a bottle, really fun!). Hubby and I bought a bottle of wine and decided to start with wine and the cheese plate. We love cheese plates and were not disappointed with this one! About 8 different cheese came out on a large wooden cheese board with a variety of fruits and breads. Yum, could easily have fed a group. Then we split a cesar salad - crispy lettuce, fresh parm and perfect amount of dressing - and the chicken under a brick. Wow. Melt in your mouth good. Perfect combination of crispy chicken skin, juicy chicken breast and creamy polenta. We licked the plate. Go with people that you really like as service is slow, especially when they are busy. Took about 10 minutes for our waitress to ask for our drink order and another 15 for the bottle of wine to come. She also placed the bottle of wine in ice out of reach of us, so the hubby had to get up to refill our glasses if she was too busy to come back and refill them. As the dining room emptied she became more attentive. The cherry on top was the surprise jazz band! Loved how everyone, old and young got up from their seats and swayed to the music between the tables. We might come back just for drinks and the music. Perfect date night!

Always nice ambiance, and typically an excellent meal, in our experience. Best Caesar salad we've found on the South Shore and maybe Boston too. I wish they'd offer some 100%-grass-fed beef and lamb options though.

My family had our Mom's bereavement luncheon at Tosca this week. The moment the family walked in, the hostess told us to just let them take care of everything and they did. The food and service were fabulous. We received so many compliments on the buffet from our guests. They even accommodated our last minute request to put together something for the children. Thank you to Chris & his staff for making a difficult time for our family easier.

Tosca's is a nice restaurant. It's not great, you won't walk away having just partaken in a culinary nirvana, but you will get a decent meal. Albeit a slightly overpriced one. Tosca's is housed in an old brick building by the Hingham waterfront, which I would expect was used to house boats, etc. long, long ago. It has the exposed beams, nice ambient lighting, both of which make for a nice intimate atmosphere. You can see the brick ovens in the kitchen which further add to the ambiance. Upon seating, you will be offered a generous selection of breads with dipping oil. Tosca's offers a wide variety of wines, both by the bottle and glass, but beer selection was surprisingly limited. The menu is quite diverse. Tosca's boasts everything from pizza, to pasta, to lamb, pork and steak. I started off splitting the calamari with my wife, which we agreed was largely unremarkable - just okay. My wife had the caesar salad which she did enjoy, and I ordered the caprese which was - just okay. It was not that fresh (tomatos a bit mushy), and the portions were lacking in comparison to the price charged. For our meal, we both ordered the angus beef medallions, which we agreed was very, very good. Excellent cuts of meat, generous portions of mashed potato and asparagus in a nice steak sauce. We were too full for desert. The one observation shared by both my wife and I, was that we felt rushed. No sooner did we receive our beverages the calamari was brought out, and our meals arrived before we finished our salads. Service was generally attentive and friendly, although the maitre de acted as if he was running The Four Seasons. There is ample town parking behind the restaurant, and I do strongly recommend reservations.

One of my all time favorite places to dine! I have never had a bad experience here. My favorite time of the year to come to Tosca's is winter. The ambiance and decorations that they setup really does set the mood. The wood burning oven is beautiful, and you can watch the chefs cooking your meal. Hands down, the best meal on the menu is the chicken under a brick. Brilliant! The muscles for an appetizer are delicious. Wine and mix drink selection is great, and prices are reasonable. I was recently here, and was looking for a recommendation of a specific taste of wine. My waiter was spot on with what I was looking for. Reservations are easy to make, and the maitre d' is always on top of when a table is available. I never want to leave, and I cannot wait to go back again.

My husband and I really enjoy this place. Very lively restaurant, great staff and delicious food. I recommend the trio of Lamb with roman dumplings --to die for! Great wine list and definitely is pricey for outside of Boston, but worth it. If you don't want to splurge, sit at the pizza bar and it doesn't have to break the bank!

Went here for dinner a few weeks ago, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was great, there was a LIVE band there when me and my friends were there. The waitress came over and gave a rundown of their specials... very attentive to all our needs during our dinner there. I had the duck breast, and it was yummylicious! I will definitely go back!

This place certainly gets a lot of hype. I mean it is Hingham, so I guess there's not much around here (sorry, I'm a Boston snob haha). BUT this place is really nice. It is really loud, as a lot of the reviews said. We were able to get a reservation for 4 last minute - 6 pm, which I joked was senior citizen special - but we actually spent 3 hours at dinner and it was really nice. Food, for the most part, was very good. I had a yummy martini - some sort of "ice tea" with st germaine. Really yummy. To start, I had the beet salad. Lovely salad, made very well and tasty. My husband had one of their appetizer specials which was some sort of riccotta stuffed pasta and it was also good. I had to get the wild boar bolognese - and I absolutely loved it. The portion was HUGE, and I was happy to take home leftovers. It has a nice flavor, a perfect amount of richness and it certainly wasn't boring. Also, added bonus, it tasted just as good the next day. Now, the reason why I am only giving 3 stars??? My husband's dish was the short ribs and they were really bland. Needed some salt or something, but it was pretty disappointing. He had a side of roman dumplings, which were basically gnocchi in a nice cream sauce. Really good! We had a nice bottle of wine (2 in fact) and ended the meal with creme brulee, which was practically perfect. All in all, I would go back, although I wouldn't go out of my way to head all the way down to Tosca. I mean it's nice, for sure and our friends who took us there love it. But not sure I would crave it like I do my other 4-5 star places. But at least I know a place to go in HIngham, should I ever need a suggestion. PS. I hear their wine room is really nice.

Service was great per usual....tried the butterscotch creme brulee....not going to lie it wasnt the best butterscotch creme brulee, I still have yet to find a place that can hold a candle to Bon Fires. It could have a little more of the butterscotch taste. but it was cooked perfect and the top was nice and crispy! So it wasnt the best but it was still good. I was sad to see they removed the butternut squash bisque but to my delight they replaced it with a sugar pumpkin soup that was AMAZING! and it comes with fried risotto balls that were so tastey! I love fall menus.

My wife and I ate here last night for our 26th anniversary. We both had the creamy lobster chowder, it was nice, could have used a few more pieces of lobster but still wonderful. We had the angus sirloin medallions, pefectly cooked, melt in your mouth. It came with asparagus and potato which were both very tasty. Service was good.

Tosca lived up to the hype! My friend and I spent 4+ hours having dinner and drinks here. We tried to get a reservation for the same night and were told the dining room was booked up until 9pm. However, they informed us the wine room was not too busy and would be able to accommodate. When we arrived, we were seated immediately in their "wine room". The wine room is the more casual side of the restaurant. Its a room with a small bar, a handful of small coffee table-like tables with plush sofa seating and there's also live music on Saturdays. The service for the night was great. She was very attentive and nice. and the food was amazing! We started off with the Chicory salad - smoked prosciutto, asparagus, capers, w/ a garlic & chili dressing; this was Delicious! (aside from the surplus of capers) The server checked to see if we were sharing the salad and were able to split the plates for us. After I finished my salad, she also noticed I didn't eat most of the capers and apologized that they must have put too much in the dish. For an entree, I ordered the duck fettuccine but because i love cavatellis, i asked for a substitution and they were happy to accommodate. The dish was good, but I wish my duck was a little more tender. My friend ordered the rib eye entree and she loved it. Even though I'm not a huge beef eater and I thought it was delicious. The rib eye steak was cut very thin and it was cooked in this amazing sauce. The steak entree was served with big pieces of bread IN the dish and a small side of salad, very interesting. We finished the night with a couple of coffee drinks and just stayed in the wine room to chat and relax. I can't wait to go back!

Great food and service. Went with friends for the first time. Started with the calamari and margherita pizza. Both were great. The caeser salad was a bit watery. Rib Eye was amazing. Wife had the braised short rib which is what I will get next time!

This place was phenomenal. From the ambiance to the food to the service, hands down awesome. My boyfriend and I had gone on a Sunday evening around 5 and were seated with no wait (a couple of hours later it became very full). I loved the interior of the restaurant, the woodfire oven, the lighting and the exposed wood beams. Our waitress was very sweet & attentive. My glass of water was never less than halfway full, before a server would top it off. The waitress served us bread (both asiago cheese bread & cranberry bread) with ricotta in a lemon-oil, which was a surprisingly great, great combo - a lot better than your plain bread & butter that most places serve. We started off with the Creamy Lobster Chowder - which was literally like the best one I ever had. We also got a side of the Potato-Parmiganio Gnocchi - creamy goodness. For our entrees we split the special Angus Ribeye which came with Fingerling Potatoes, Baby Brussels Sprouts & Smoked Pancetta; excellent. And we also split a wood oven pizza - I think it was called the Siciliano, it had ricotta, a balsamic glaze, & pistachios with a pistachio oil. It was very light and delicious. The waitress knew we were splitting everything and took the time to split the rib eye etc. I didn't even have to ask she just did it once we had told her we were splitting both meals (extra points for her). Lastly for desert we had gotten the "Forno" Bread Pudding; it was the perfect consistency and went great with the white chocolate gelato. Make sure you come here - there'll be no regrets!

I liked the restaurant, but was not blown away by it. The martini I ordered had a dead fruit fly in it and the waitress replaced it without a problem very promptly. I got a pasta sampler when I was there and wasn't overly impressed with the taste of it. It wasn't bad... it just wasn't great. We ordered a pizza as well and it was very good. It was very flat and had an odd shape to it for a pizza... almost like a rectangle with rounded edges. It was large enough to feed the three of us. I thought the prices were a touch high... but the atmosphere was very nice. There was a Red Sox playoff game on when I went and it was difficult to see the TV's from the dining area... but I didn't go there for a sports bar feel. I liked the type of people that were at the bar and it was a nice escape from the usual scenes in the Quincy area. PS... this is a cougar hang out... I felt like I was watching the real housewives show with the women at the bar...haaa!

Tsk, Tsk, Tosca...... Found my latest visit to be less than satisfying....whether it was because of the oddly uncomfortable presence of our Lurch-like server, or the tasteless lobster pasta special, (flavored only with several anemic slivers of thyme and a thin, watery broth)...who's to say.... It did get three stars, however, for the always cozy atmosphere under the amber lights, the killer fig and goat cheese starter, and the reliably tasty caesar salad. It will probably be awhile until my next visit, so I'm hoping things improve....

We went on a recent Friday night to celebrate a graduation. Our waiter was great as were our cocktails. For appetizers, we had the calamari which is good but the cheese plate was outstanding. Scallops and steak medallions were delicious. Someone in our party ordered the duck breast but did not like it. All in all a great evening, glad we went!

A very good friend is temporarily living in Hingham and took me to what he learned was the most talked about spot in town. True to its popularity, Tosca was full of couples and mature, professional looking diners. The selection of bread was good, standard Italian delights like focaccia, asiago bread, etc. We started with the caprese and the calamari. Both nicely done with some unique touches like pinenuts and slices of pickled beet, which gave the calamari almost a Vietnamese touch. I was trying to decide between the cavatappi and the bolognese. Was there a house specialty? Yes, the waitress informed us, bolognese. This dish is done with a penne and wild boar, and the meat was surprisingly tender. We also had a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio. Overall a very nice showing for a small town spot.

Attended a private function at Tosca and had some of the best food ever! Can't wait to go back. If you want quality, well prepared food, this is the place.

My dining companion and I arrived at nearly 9pm on a Friday night and we were surprised by how busy it was. To us, it was a good sign that such a big restaurant was hopping in sleepy Hingham! We started with the caprese salad (nice touch with the pine nuts!) and the calamari (I could have done without the pickled beets). I opted for the duck fettuccine, which was pretty delicious. Generous amounts of duck and very flavorful. My dining companion's bolognese was also very tasty. Did I taste a hint of cinnamon in it?

I cannot remember the last time that I had heard so many great things about a restaurant and been so disappointed when I actually dined there. First of all I do not mind paying top dollar for top quality dining experiences. I do however greatly resent it when a restaurant charges top dollar and delivers only mediocrity and that unfortunately sums up my experience at Tosca's. My wife and I always eat at the bar and I have no complaints with the service. I did think that the limited beer/ale selection in draft (3) was disappointing. For appetizers my wife ordered the Lobster chowder and I ordered the daily cheese board. The Lobster chowder was extremely disappointing due to the fact that it was all broth (2 small pieces of lobster and a few chunks of potato) and the broth was exceedingly bland. The cheeseboard was the best dish that we had all night. It came with 4 different cheeses, quince preserves, blackberries and prosciutto wrapped dates as well as a generous selection of crostini. This is easily enough for 2 people and was worth the visit if this is all you have. For entrees my wife ordered the Martguerita pizza and I ordered the special of sword fish with a putanesca sauce over baby potatoes. The thin crust pizza was OK but Bella's has much better and at half the price. The sword fish was hugely disappointing. It's the first time I've ever experienced a bland putanesca sauce so that the entire dish was just bland. The ambiance was great, they have a fairly large bar and the service is good however the food is mediocre at best. Dinner with 3 glasses of wine and 1 stella artois was $133.00. We will not go there again. I would rather spend that money at the Square Cafe down the street or Bella's in Rockland.

I went here on a Friday night with my boyfriend, I had heard great things about Tosca so I was pretty excited to try it out. We were greeted by a young hostess dressed in sun dress and the male host was dressed to the nines in a suit. Our waitress was nice and accommodating but this place had a very snobby atmosphere, ya I know its Hingham, but still its annoying when it seems like everyone here is like your grandmothers age. Maybe we should have sat at the bar! We ordered pizzas and they were pretty good but nothing fantastic for $12!! I did enjoy the margaritas and their flour less chocolate cake is to die for!!!! However, I don't think I'll be back, it wasn't fantastic nor horrible it was just ok.

Tosca is a South Shore institution. Always busy on weekends and no matter what new restaurant is popping up on the South Shore, there is always Tosca. The food is consistently good, although they do have some menu items that are very average. I've never had any issues with their service, even on the busiest of nights. One warning: it can be extremely loud and boisterous so if you are in the mood for a quiet dinner, don't go on a busy night. That said, the ambience is very intimate and casually elegant. Prices are steep and for some of those very average menu items, it seems a little too pretentious. (Romaine lettuce is romaine lettuce, no matter what you do to it.) Despite the hefty tab, I still highly recommend Tosca. It is one of my favorite places to eat.

This is my go-to local place when I want to be assured of a great meal in comfortable surroundings with good service. Although it's more than a bar, it's kind of my "Cheers". I can't remember a time I've been let down and we've been here many, many times. This is the place to go if you just want to be casual, sit at the bar with a drink and some appetizers or if you want to have a meal in the dining room. You can also sit at a part of the bar that faces the grill while you watch the action. I often meet friends here after work for a drink and a nosh before heading home. I love the brick building Tosca is housed in as well the inside decor with high ceilings and the slightly industrial yet very rustic Italian feel. There is a solidly great and seasonal menu of appetizers, salads, pastas, and meat and seafood entrees along with pizzas grilled in the wood oven. They don't mind if you share food and will divide up the portions for you so you don't feel like losers. Another thing I love about Tosca is that you can make this a fancy night out for a celebration when you're not worrying about the bill or you can be casual, share food and not spend a lot of money. In both instances, you will leave happily content and feel like you spent your time in just the right place. If you get yourself on their email list you will get updates about cooking classes and special wine dinners. Great place.

Food is really excellent and the wait staff is outstanding. My major gripe is that it is EXTREMELY loud. Sitting at the bar, I feel like I'm at a loud 20-something hangout on Boylston Street. But not in a good way. A lively atmosphere is essential to me, but not at the expense of being able to hear the bartender or even the person sitting next to me.

I went last weekend with 2 of my girlfriends. The atmosphere is really nice and the place was packed. It is definitely a place you have to make reservations in advance. The food was delicious. Their fried calamari is awesome!! Why? B/c not only are the calamari fried crispy but it comes with pickeled red onions and cucumbers. So that extra addition makes it an awesome appetizer. And of course it has the bell peppers. My friend and I had the scallops dish and it was cooked perfectly. My other friend had the lobster spaghetti and she ate the whole dish! The wine was good as well was the dessert. Some mint chocolate molton cake thingy. Can't remember the name. One thing that was just "eh" was the service. The place was really packed and at first our waiter was attentive. But once our appetizer came out, he was no where to be seen. It also took us a while before he came back to take our orders but it could have been to give us more time to pick what we wanted. Also, we ordered a bottle of wine and they do not leave it at the table. Which is nice because they pour it for you but it's also a little annoying when your glass is empty and you want to refill it and your waiter is no where to be seen. But I would defintely go there again. Kind of pricey but hey, you're in Hingham....

Tosca is settled in the quaint downtown area of Hingham near the ocean, but certainly not ON the sea (more like a block away). If you are unfamiliar with Hingham, the town center pits old New England style Historical houses and monuments juxtaposed with modern shopping and dining. Beyond this, Hingham is difficult to get to as it sits far off of Route 3 or 93 or any other road a normal human being would take. I say we fill in Weymouth with sand and build a bridge from exit 16 to the ocean. Despite the arduous journey to get to the Restaurant, Tosca is worth the trip. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is romantic, and the service may be the best I have experienced south of Boston. The food: Italian and pricey, but delicious. The menu consists of authentic Italian pasta/steak/seafood dishes as well as the chef's take on classics (PIZZA). The atmosphere: classically decorated, dimly lit, a bit crowded, not too loud. The windows have a nice view of the quiet street. The chef's can be seen from the dining area. The service: knowledgeable, friendly, and prompt. I was very impressed with our waiter's knowledge of the dishes. While offering the specials, he made special note of the preparation of each dish. He offered recommendations based on our likes and gave clear support as to why we would like said recommendations. He was also very quick to replace our $7 cocktails which endeared him to me. The wait can be excessive, parking is sometimes tough, and the price may be a deterrent, but Tosca is worth it.

After much pleasant debate my fiancée and I traveled to Tosca for our anniversary dinner. What finally tipped the scales in its favor was the fact that my lovely lady had a stellar experience at Tosca some years ago. Some years ago and an age, it would seem... When traveling to Tosca a cavernous pothole and an idling MBTA bus were the first things to greet us upon our arrival. Our walk to the restaurant from the parking lot was redolent of ocean, ringed by fake plants in plastic containers and dimly lit by a veiled moon above a slumbering strip mall below. The hostess was a tall girl in too much makeup, not enough skirt and heels she had apparently never walked in before. Not a word is passed as she stumbles us to a table by the window, thrusts menus at us and staggers away. My fiancée and I exchange quizzically raised eyebrows and proceed to peruse their offerings. Their wine list was broad but not deep so we decided to start out with some Emeritus. As we are discussing appetizers and entrees a figure lurches into view on my right. The table on that side of us had been boisterous and I merely presumed one of their party had indulged a few drops over the limit and was coming to grips with standing up straight for the first time in an hour. Surprising and not something I would expect from a place attempting to present itself in the fashion Tosca does. In an attempt to avoid drawing attention to the probable embarrassment of the person in question I continue my conversation-only to be interrupted by "Welcome to Tosca." I turn awkwardly to see our server, who had apparently just tripped on one of our tables unoccupied chairs and now stood at an angle addressing the vicinity of us. We greet, exchange pleasantries and put in our wine order. For whatever reason our server has been slowly working her way to the opposite corner of our table and it is at this point she requests to see my fiancées ID. Now, I understand the idea of carding a teenager who has just ordered a Miller Lite with darting eyes at Chili's but did not see the need for it here. As it turns out my fiancée had left her purse at home and the server politely explained she could not order wine. My lady gives me a slight shrug to let me know 'Meh, it's not worth it' so I change our order to a glass of Ravenswood. My ID is promptly requested. I hand it over. Our server studies it for a few long moments and explains she has to go check it against her book. No less than twenty minutes later our server returns and proclaims my ID as valid. "Now, what would you like to drink?" Blinking in surprise, I repeat my order and also put in for some calamari. In the ten minutes our server is away we discuss the menu and eventually decide on swordfish and the pasta with wild boar-both looked promising. My wine is delivered and our dinners requested. My fiancée and I discuss news of the day and I have a moment to look around the restaurant while nibbling on hard bread and rubbery calamari. Tosca is lovely. Wood abounds and every nook and cranny is tastefully appointed. Their chairs are chic and comfortable and the tables are arranged for footpaths and group cohesion. The ceiling is high, full of thick wood beams and industrial pipes that offset each other well. The two major failings are the kitchen and the view. I understand what they were trying to do with an open kitchen but it is done in such a way as to give no real view to the art of cooking and simply lends a half-hearted Bertucci's vibe to the place. When you look out the windows of Tosca's front room you are presented with an unappealingly blasé view of Mill and North Street... asphalt backed by low, dark buildings does not exactly pique the appetite. All of this was taken in while shouting to be heard above the din of the room and a water waiter constantly leaning between us to do her duty. My fiancées meal eventually arrives and mine follows a minute later. We attend to our plates and are underwhelmed. Her fish is nearing overcooked status and my pasta is drowning in sauce with a few meager chunks of boar to act as lonely buoys. The food was palatable, acceptable even-but for the amount we were paying for it we expected to be wowed. This fare could be gotten much cheaper and easier elsewhere. My wine, while pleasantly chewy, was the best part of the meal and even that was just OK. I got the sense that by erecting a pleasing façade and installing a well decorated interior Tosca didn't feel the need or have the wherewithal to add in good service and excellent food... the mere presence of well dressed waiters and a polished menu grant cardboard sophistication... and that is apparently enough for Tosca. Maybe it was an off night for Tosca, maybe the ghost of Allen Funt was having a go at us, maybe somebody pinned a "Please give me bad service" sign on my back but... Tosca is not worth your time and certainly not worth the money.

It's amazing to me that people give Tosca anything but 5 stars. It is hands down the most consistent restaurant on the South Shore, with impeccable food and stellar service. Chris and Erol are outstanding at making every guest feel like a VIP. I've been to Tosca literally hundreds of times and, I kid you not, I've never had anything less than a tremendous experience. I'm such a fan that I'd rather go to Tosca than any of the big names in Boston, i.e. Davios, Rialto etc.

Tosca serves wonderful modern Italian cuisine to a suburban clientele. The dining room is beautiful with exposed brick, warm woods, and a bustling open kitchen. My boyfriend ordered the "Porcini" wood oven pizza which was a thin crust pizza with imported porcini mushroom crema, baby lettuce, asparagus, and white truffle oil while I had the angus sirloin medallions with smoked paprika rub, asparagus, brussel sprouts, and Tosca 'steak' sauce. For dessert, we had the almond joy stack which is dark chocolate mousse on top of a coconut cake, amaretto mascarpone cream, toasted almond gelato, milk chocolate, and coconut sauce. The pizza and dessert was delicious. The angus sirloin steak was good but not impressive. If I was to go back, I would probably try something else. All and all, we had a wonderful time and found the service extremely friendly and accommodating.

I loved Tosca. As one of Bill Belichick's fav hangouts how could you go wrong? This is a little upscale slice of heaven in Hingham Harbor. The decor is beautiful, the lighting is perfect and the food is creative and rich. I do have to admit it's also a great place to people watch too! The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable and all the dishes that were served at our table were fantastic. A little piece of Back Bay and the North End put together in a great South Shore restaurant.

I would consider this an overall "average" dining experience. The menu is varied enough but very expensive. I got the "Bell and Evans Chicken",it was a big portion and the chicken and glazed sauce was delicious but underneath that , very rich mashed potatoes and some kind of saucy mushrooms that tasted processed and very salty. The restaurant was very noisy(this was on a week night) and top 40 type of music was way too loud, didn't seem to fit the otherwise eloquent setting.Soft background jazz and less noise would be better. Maybe it's different on the weekends,I don't know. One more thing...the desserts are fantastic!

We hadn't visited Tosca in a year or more but recently took our stressed out law school daughter to dinner and it reminded us why we used to love this place. It is a bit noisy so don't go for a quiet conversation but it is a fun (if a bit dark) space. Everything we had from great wines by the glass, starters and entrees were all very, very good. My wife had a special 'duck cannelloni' starter that was truly outstanding...we talked about it for a week! I always get the chicken livers starter (yes I know it sounds strange) but again, it really is special. For entrees I had the lamb shank (might have been a special), my wife had the short ribs, our daughter had the chicken under a brick, not to be repetitive but they were really all excellent. The only downer of the evening was the parking ticket we received parking on the street in front of the restaurant. Even though the signs say 'no parking between the signs' they apparently interpret that to mean, no parking on the street. I'm fighting the ticket...and the urge to go back to Tosca. It's a special place and one wouldn't want to spoil that!

This is my favorite restaurant in all of New England. The Marguerita Pizza as an appetizer, the wine list, maritnis and all the specials are mouth watering great. This is a beautiful restaurant in a great town accessible from Boston by Rail and Ferry. This is as close to a finely tuned swiss instrument that a restaurant can be. They are the best.

Can't wait to eat my leftovers today! Tosca is a great place for a date. We went on a Sunday for dinner and it was very quiet. The lighting is low and romantic and the smell of the wood burning ovens is amazing. Our waiter was very attentive. I had the classic baked pasta =pasta, chicken, butternut squash in a lovely creamy garlic sauce. Simply amazing My boyfriend had the special of the day which was a pork sampler that he also loved. We don't live anywhere near Hingham but its worth the drive for sure!

Went there with one other person for my birthday for dinner - a regular Saturday night dinner, ultimately. My companion had been here before and we were looking for some place near the water so it came up. Our experience was disappointing, to say the least. We had appetizers - the Liver and Onions (which was EXCELLENT) and the Carpaccio (which was fine). So we were pre-disposed at that point to enjoy the rest of our meal. It went downhill from there in a big, big way.... My companion had the "special" of the night - Veal Milanese. Bland, greasy fried veal for $17. I had the flounder/oyster entree (which is on their regular dinner menu right now, but not listed as such on their web site). I SPECIFICALLY TOLD the server that I cannot eat onions....and changed my entree choice because the first one (duck fettuccine) was "loaded with them". Lo and behold...the thing is covered with chopped scallions, which I then proceeded to pick off as I didn't want to have my companion (a) wait for me and have his meal get cold or (b) be uncomfortable eating while I sat there waiting for them to redo my meal. Beyond that, my entree was also basically tasteless. I ate the 5 or 6 oysters and left the rest it was so bad....and the server never even noticed that 80% of my meal went untouched! I didn't want to make a big deal about it and ruin our evening so when she asked how it was, I pointedly looked at my plate and my facial expression was more than clear that I was not happy. She was completely indifferent and was quite obviously just going through the motions. We had the chocolate souffle which was paired with another flourless chocolate "cake" (again, not on the menu on their web site). This was fine - nothing special. They wrote "happy birthday" around the plate in chocolate (my companion called them and pre-ordered desert) so that was a nice touch. I love this area and have been meaning to try Tosca for some time. As I said, my companion had been there 1 other time and thought it was "fine". Birthday or not, this was not what I expected. If I was in the area I might go back for appetizers, but with the understanding that they might be tasteless like the rest of our meal.....

Perfect place to go eat if you do not want to stay in the city. The restaurant is big and not crowded, high ceilings, modern italian decor and lots of room to breathe. The food is fantastic, try porcini mushrooms or the homemade ravioli. It is definetely not "american Italian"....if you are looking for spaghetti and meatball this is not your place. For dessert .......Nutella! Great date place ! After dinner take a walk on the waterfront, who could ask for more!

I love sitting at the grill-bar with my husband, watching food prep, sipping from the great wine selection, and sharing two appetizers and a main course. My favorite is the chicken-under-a-brick - great great roasted chicken, creamy polenta, good mushrooms and watercress. Such a good dish that I frequently order it as take-out dinner - order two and spoil my family of four.

I haven't lived on the south shore long enough to try out all it has to offer, but so far, Tosca is my favorite place for dinner. I have been here a few times, and have never been disappointed. I recently returned here when my friends decided to venture out to my new 'hood for a girls' night. Now, I love my girls dearly, but they are as picky as they get when it comes to dining, and it's nearly impossible to find a place that will please everyone, and not have anyone sending meals back to the kitche. Tosca did the trick! The bread is fantastic, as is the red-pepper-oil-goodness they serve it with. The beet salad is one of my favorites, and the girls enjoyed their caesars. For an entree this time around, I got the swordfish and it was perfect. I sampled a friend's scallops, which were also fantastic, and everyone else devoured their meals, complaint-free! For dessert, we split some sort of chocolate mousse tart/peppermint gelato special they had going on that night, which was outrageously rich, but amazing. My husband and I usually get the Candy Bar for dessert when we're there - sometimes we make a special trip to Tosca just to sit at the bar and indulge in this dessert with an Irish Coffee, because it's the perfect way to celebrate any special occasion - though you don't need a special occasion to splurge on this - it's worth the extra lbs on your thighs.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in the world. Meaning "Angel", this restaurant is heavenly, sporting the perfect balance of setting, customer service, and innovative Italian-American cuisine. Having almost every dish on the menu, I am partial to opening with the early season tomato salad with 'Backyard Beauty' tomatoes from Maine, spring Pecorino cheese, aged balsamic vinegar, and crushed fava beans. The slight citrus and balsamic flavor mend with the sweetness of the young tomatoes for such a great flavor. Bolognese of Wild Boar is another small started pasta dish that carries an intense flavor. The calamari is almost equally good. My favored entree is the 'Costoletta' of Pork tenderloin, Balsamic Marinated, Pounded Thin & Quickly Wood Grilled, served with baby broccolli and tasty risotto verde. Coming in a close second is the Lamb Piatto, which is a selection of four lamb dishes (similar to italian tapas) served on a long, narrow plate. The preparations vary nightly, so I've been surprised over and over with it. Lastly, the toasted scallops & glazed fennel, sweet peas, sugared tomato, chile, coriander, and puree of zucchini skin is a creative seafood dish - while still containing some intense spices, still brings the flavor of the scallops above all else. The wait staff is AMAZING, no less, and candlelit tables, the fire from the open kitchen, and jazz bands on weekends liven up the atmosphere. The week before moving away from the area, my wife and I dined twice at this restaurant. Now that I've left, I truly miss this restaurant.

Last year this place was incredible- however, as of September 24, 2011, the food has totally changed. Nine of us drove up for a nice birthday dinner and the dishes were the same on the menu but not on the plate! Reason: NEW CHEF! Lamb tasted like bitter orange pulp, polenta tasted like Cream of Wheat...etc. And no more Roman Dumplings. So disappointed.

It's unfortunate that a few bad reviews have pulled the rating down on this excellent restaurant. Certainly a bad experience will put a person off of a restaurant, however, I can't say I'm surprised both were on Valentine's day...certainly one of the busiest days of the year for any restaurant. Don't be discouraged. Having been to Tosca no less than 20 times, I have never had a bad meal there or bad service. There is a waiter there who I could live without...but his surly manner is still efficient and it has never impacted the taste of my food :-) I'm not a big fan of their desserts which I find uninspired and average. A few favorite dishes are -- anything with braised short rib , Costoletta of Pork, and most of the specials!

Tosca has been my far my favorite restaurant for a long time. We've never had a bad meal there and it's a treat to watch the chefs in action. We like to go to the cozy tables in the wine room instead of waiting for a table. They usually have a jazz band after 8:00.

Tosca in Hingham is such a great restaurant. They have two bars that are great to sit around and have a glass of wine if you are waiting for your table. They have a somewhat "open" kitchen and an open feeling throughout the restaurant. They have a large dining area and a smaller room that has wine "lockers" that people have purchased. On the weekends they usually have a little jazz band playing. The food is fantastic! It starts with the bread-all different kinds-and the calamari appetizer is fantastic. The Caesar salad is especially good to start with because they put a little lemon juice in it and it makes for such a fresh taste! I always get the "Bell and Evans Chicken", but I've had the flatbread/pizza, scallops, and steak and they are all fantastic. I have a ridiculously large sweet tooth, so their chocolate sorbet fills me up but without the guilt of a full-on 5-scoop sundae. This is a great date place and my fiance proposed to me right after our dinner! Enjoy!

Mmmmm, awesome meal at Tosca. Ceasar salad is the best I've ever had, great wine list, the Boar Bolognese is delicious, and we even had dessert. Flourless chocolate cake with Mint Chip gelato and fudge sauce- insane!! Everyone loved their meals, Chicken under a brick, the Rib eye, and tenderloins, all raved about at the table. This is a special occassion restaurant for us and its $$$$.

Our experience was so off-putting, that the decent-but-overpriced food didn't make up for the mediocre service and the snotty maitre'd. Noisy! Very difficult to carry on a conversation. Many better choices on the South Shore (try the Barker Tavern in Scituate, for starters).

Eh. There is nothing imparticular that sticks out to me on why my experience was just Eh but it was. The prices were what I anticipated, high. We made reservations and they put us at a pretty terrible table. The service was fine, but then again I'm pretty laid back. The calamari was kind of brutal, the caesar salad underwhelming. My entree was alright for a $30 pork chop, i certainly wasn't dying to finish it. I found the wine list a tad boring. Seemed like they focused more on getting a flashy large number of wines on the list than a smaller amount of quality interesting ones. That said, the hostess was pleasant, the restaurant itself is beautiful and smells divine with the wood grill they cook with. C+ at best

A rustic Tuscan environment with towering ceilings and exposed beams, Tosca delivers on transporting diners from the South Shore to a trendy urban spot. I'd recommend the bar for a fun casual night or the restaurant for a special occasion. The boisterous bar scene is fun and lively and the wood burning pizza oven is just what you need to warm up on a cold night. The thin crust pizzas are good for sharing at the bar while you people watch or chat with the friendly bartenders. Dining in the restaurant is a destination with the price tag to match, but I've found nearly every bite to be worth it. The drink menu is light-hearted (Back Nine for an alcoholic Arnold Palmer) and the restaurant gets down to business with its well-chosen wine list. On our most recent visit, we followed our waiter's recommendation and had a Poully Fuisse that I've got to track down at a wine store. For starters, I had the melt in your mouth caprese (the toasted pine nuts were a great touch) and my husband had his favorite Box of Shrimp. I'm not a big fan of fried food but the batter on these is light and nicely complemented by the fresh herbs and caperberry tarter sauce. The Box holds 9 large shrimp and is good for sharing. Moving to entrees, the chicken under a brick was addictively crispy and the mushrooms added an earthy touch to the pan sauce. My husband ordered a special - a pounded ribeye steak topped with herbed frites. I nearly missed my opportunity for a bite as it disappeared quickly! For dessert, don't shy away from the homemade limoncello and if you'd like to indulge your sweet tooth, the brownie turtle sundae received high marks. Chewy homemade gelato was a great contrast to the warm dense brownie. Service was top notch - friendly and omnipresent without being intrusive.

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday. I felt a little under dressed because most of the men there had jackets...I was wearing a polo and jeans. The ambiance was nice with the open kitchen and brick oven although it was a bit loud. As someone said in a previous review, don't go if you want a quiet romantic evening. The food was very good. I had the duck fettucini, which was excellent. Although the portion size was kind of small, if you wanted this as your entree it was an additional $11 which came out to $23 total, I would hate to see the size of a non-entree portion! My girlfriend had a dish that had 4 or 5 different cuts of lamb, which came with a side of gnocchi. She loved it....I almost wish I had ordered it. The lamb was perfectly cooked and presented on a long dish displaying the different cuts. With the side of gnocchi, it was the perfect portion size. Our server was very accommodating without being intrusive. My biggest problem was with the price of the drinks. My girlfriend and I each had a watered down cocktail that cost about $12 each!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
