Taco's Lupita is great. I have yet to find another burrito joint that is as enjoyable. They got chicken, steak, fried pork (carnitas), roast pork (al pastor, and cow tongue for meat choices. I'm still too big of a pansy to try the cow tongue, although I've heard good things. The prices are very reasonable. For drinks they have glass mexican cokes, a bunch of flavors of Jarittos soda, and Horchata (Rice milk). Hint: You can get jalapeno peppers on your burrito if you ask, and you'll love it. The hot sauce Tapatio on the tables really makes this the best place ever. The seasoned pros have the bottle in their hand the entire time. I've been here about 400 times to make a fair estimate. I try every burrito place i see in my journey of life, and still compare all of them to Tacos Lupita. It'll turn people into burrito snobs.

Throw five bucks down, and you'll get a burrito the size of your forearm. Put that in your repression and smoke it. Alright, that was a slight exaggeration. And I do mean slight. The burritos there are stuffed full of all the good stuff. A couple times, I've had my tortilla split on the side because it was too full. Which, granted, made it pretty messy, but it's so good, you'll lick the drippings from the foil. First off, it'll take you a good 3 minutes to pick the meat you want. From grilled steak (with a good sized hint of a lime), to the 'al pastor' roast pork (which put me off due to the weird, chinese spare rib pink, but really. It's good), to the chewy carnitas, there's little you can go wrong with. I personally don't care for the chicken too much, but it's not because it's bad -- the other choices are just that much better, so more power to you. After you get that figured out, you get to hit up the slew of toppings. Fresh pico de gallo (or salsa, for you fellow gringos) is delicious, as is the guac. And think of it this way. You'll make mommy proud by loading up on your veggies. Other menu choices are great, too. From the enormous quesadilla to the torta sandwich topped with jalepenos and fresh avocado, anything here will make your lips curl into an involuntary smile and a single tear roll down your cheek. Long story short: If they could concentrate pure happiness into a tangible form and wrap it in a tortilla, it still wouldn't be as good as one of their burritos.

We read all the great reviews so we passed up 99 and more to eat here. We regret this decision! We had chicken burrito and quesadilla I also asked for an order of chips and salsa, don't waste your money! The place is quick BUT that is the only good thing that happened. in summary our experience was Very disappointing please don't go!

I think I may have just found some really authentic REALLY GOOD Mexican! Yes in Haverhill, MA. I have driven by here a few times and wanted to stop. I am glad that I finally did. The menu: Tacos, Huaraches, mulitas, burritos. Sopas, Quesadillas, Toras, Gorrditas, and pupusas. I had a taco plate (3 tacos chicken, pork, and chorizo, served w/ rice and beans). The pork was the BOMB! So flavorful. I wanted a pupusa too but they "had no pupusa today". Very decent prices. The guys were Latino that served me knew both Spanish and English. The menu is on both languages as well. All the ingredients were very fresh. They have tables if you wish to eat there. It was very clean. I will be back. UPDATE 10-11-07 I have continued to go here especially in the evening. My irk is usually by 7:30-8:00 they are usually run out of most everything. How disappointing!

Sooo good. So good. My bf introduced me to this place. They're authentic, fast, and cheap. The only thing is it's not a very good atmosphere for hanging around, but you can't beat the food. Worth a shot.

Awesome, authentic mexican food. Wife is half mexican so she knows. Roast pork and chorizo are both excellent. Best mexican in the area, by far. Try the mulitas... they're worth the wait...!

I hadn't been here since it opened, so I forgot what it was like. I decided to try it again today so I could write a review. I was expecting a whole lot more in quality since the reviews on here are great! I I was a bit disappointed since there was soooo much hype. I got a grilled chicken taco. The tortilla was stale i think. Maybe it was an off day, but It was not good. The grilled chicken was burnt and tasted burnt. They didn't have a whole lot of options to make your taco spicier either-the hot sauce was not hot. I like it HOT, BABY!! I would come again, but i wouldn't recommend the tacos.. some other guy got a burrito and I have to admit I was a little jealous that I hadn't gotten that instead. Oh and my dad was excited to get a beef taco, but it's something they dont offer!!! no hamburg?? thats strange!! Oh well, you can't please everybody! I wish I could agree with all the other reviews, but I just can't! not today!

Great mexican food, great staff and cheap prices. I'm not a fan of their guacamole. i like chunky guac and theirs is soupy like the sour cream they serve. The food is fresh and i love the cilantro and lime but i still like chipotle better, so sue me. :)

It has become a ritual for my fiance to come to Tacos Lupita before playoff Bruins games because what goes better with hockey than Mexican food? That said - the food at Tacos Lupita is insanely good. People can take their Chipotle and Anna's and shove it (into their mouths, duh). The pork they put in these burritos is just mouth watering. The chicken is also solid. And my fiance swears by the lengua - which is kind of hard to find in taquerias in New England, it seems. The ingredients are all fresh and you can watch them cook the meat right behind the counter. The flavors just all blend really well. You know how some places make a taco or burrito and suddenly you taste the sour cream and then the meat and then the rice? Not here. Everything meshes together well. The staff is also really friendly - always smiling. And it's not super expensive - two burritos and two Jarritos (yummmm) for under $13. Yes please!

I curse the day my son introduced me to this place. Now I'm addicted to the fried pork burrito with tons of fresh veggies The price is very reasonable considering how much food you get. I liked the soda they offer--- made with just sugar and not high fructose corn syrup. Sweet but not too sweet DEFINITELY on my list of food hits

If you are hungry and have $5, look no further. Tacos Lupita has the best and most authentic burritos that I have even had. West-coasters that have the luxury of eating great Mexican food all the time say that Lupita is just as good, if not better. If you try this place you will never look at a Chipotle the same way again. If you head over to Lupita prepare yourself for the amazing. Also, be prepared to answer three questions... Rice? Beans? What kind of meat?

  • Emily L.

Just got back from eating at Tacos Lupita for the millionth time. Brought my mom, and I'm pretty sure the pork burrito changed her life. My usual order is two steak tacos with yellow rice and refried beans on the side. The meat is always tender and flavorful. The toppings (guacamole, sour cream, pico di gallo, hot sauce, lime) are so delicious I can't even tell you. An added bonus is Mexican coke in glass bottles they offer. The line is often long but moves fast. The decor is tacky and wonderful. The staff is friendly and clearly care about the product they offer. And, oh yeah--it's super cheap. Skip Taco Bell and hit up this place. It may change your life as well.

started going here when I was pregnant and was there as recently as last week. This place has blown up!!! the nice thing is that they are still spot on and haven't lost the quality, which tens to happen when a place become popular. I seem to be addicted to the burritos but promised myself that the next time I am there I will try something different. Now i want to take a ride over for lunch. I have to refrain...lolThis is a much try spot in Haverhill. It is quick, inexpensive, and delicious!

I live in Haverhill and have passed by this place more times than I can remember. As a "foodie" I've wondered about this place but I didn't have the motivation to try this place until a year ago when we were looking for a good Mexican restaurant when the family had cravings for good Mexican food. I was surprised that Tacos Lupita came up several times from Yelp and other food reviews. Most of the reviews came up highly recommended. Today though, my husband and I finally decided to drop by and I'm glad we did. Though it might look like a shack outside, once in the restaurant, it was big enough to contain tables for at least 50 customers. Menu is posted on the wall with English translation so there's no problem ordering. We ordered the specialty plate (combo) with steak, pork and chicken meats, rice, choice of beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. Another order is chicken taco (soft taco) and a side of nachos with guacamole. Prices were affordable and reasonable. As for the taste, the meat was grilled perfectly and has a similar taste to our Filipino grilled meats, which I really love. Everything on our plate seems to match and complement each other in flavor. This is one place that we would love to go back again and again just for the food. While we were there, there was a constant line of people coming in to eat in or order out. This is truly a gem in Haverhill.

The only authentic mexican place I've found in northern New England. This place reminds me of taquerias in the Mission (San Francisco, CA), very little ambiance but great tacos and burritos. This is the real deal. Go for the carnitas tacos.

Been wanting to go here for a year now and finally made it a few days ago. The services was super quick and the both the pork & steak tacos were very very good !!! The pork was a tad bit dry but super tasty. We went in 15 minutes before closing so that may have been the reason for the pork being a little dry, The rice & black beans that came with our combo were also very tasty. The prices can't be beat !! We chowed down on a 3 taco combo plate and 2 side tacos and a cassadia and only spent around $20 and we ended up full because we ordered too much. The only thing I suggest is to not go 15 minutes before closing. The pork was a little dry and one of the workers started to mop the floor with a really strong smelling industrial cleaner. Not a good smell when you are eating. If you go late make sure you get it to go. Overall, very yummy and affordable. We will definitely be back for those yummy tacos !! *** closing time was 9pm - yelp list it as 8pm (incorrect) **

I've been eating here for almost 4 or 5 years now, ate here literally every day for over 2 months one summer. Have not been going much lately (just because i haven't been in the area) but when i do go i still see a familiar face behind the counter. This place has always been my favorite place for a burrito, but i've also had almost half the menu and everything i have had is delicious. Great location, bars down the street, welfare records, anchors up if there's a good show going on. Staff is always friendly, unless there's a huge line, then they're a little stressed out, but who can blame them (if you do i hate you, they are the nicest people and you must be a horrible person). Will forever eat here as long as i'm on the east coast and they exist, the BEST burrito i have ever had.

Love this place!! I usually get the chicken burrito and it's excellent! I like that you can pick what you want to go in it, so it's always just how you want it. My friend convinced me to try the horchata and it was amazing. I get hot sauce on the side and this drink is perfect when your mouth gets too hot :)

Worth the 20 mile drive I took. Only a small handful of authentic Mexican dining places in Mass. This place is like being in Southern California.

I checked out Tacos Lupita after a friend recommended it to me. I have searched long and far, for good 'Mexican' food in the Valley, and was eager to taste what Tacos Lupita had to offer. It did not disappoint. I had the chorizo burrito with rice, black beans, and all the fixings. The chorizo had a great taste, and just the right amount of kick. I topped the burrito off with my choice of toppings, which included pico, cilantro, guac, and sour cream. My girlfriend got the steak quesadilla. She really enjoyed the taste of the steak, and her toppings were great also. She was a little disappointed in the amount of cheese that they put on the quesadilla, since there was hardly any. It is true what other reviewers have mentioned...the place is a little dive-y...but I didn't expect an elegant restaurant when I made plans to go. There are plenty of seats, and the workers are nice, for the most part. Don't take too long deciding what you want on your burrito tho...bec the guy making the burritos gets a little aggravated. Overall, I'd rate this place a solid 4, and I can't wait to try the Al pastor torta, and nachos con carne. My girlfriend is looking forward to trying the pupusas. If you're in the area..or just want to take a ride, definitely try this place out, I think you'll be happy that you did.

Tacos Lupita serves the best menudo (beef tripe soup) in greater Boston hands down... if there is even another place that serves it. Not glamorous... i'll give other reviewers that, but for those complaining about there not being ground beef tacos... get over it... you obviously don't know what Mexican food is.

The Yelp reviews are spot on with this place. We were on our way back to Maine from a trip to NY and decided to use Yelp to find somewhere along the way with some good food. Tacos Lupita did not disappoint. It was very easy to find off the highway, was able to park easily on the side of the road and not long to wait at the counter. I ordered 2 molitas, one chicken, one steak; and the hubby ordered 2 tacos (chicken and steak) and a beef tongue gordita. Once ordering, we watched the counterperson press a corn tortilla and place on the grill - corn tortillas from scratch - yum yum. Hubs said everything was excellent. Mine was as well. We got his meal - 2 tacos, a gordita; my meal - 2 molitas; and a basket of chips (warm and yummy) and guacamole, and 2 sodas for 20 bucks. I wish I lived closer so I could come here again :)

  • Gwen D.

For the price this place blew me away. Not pretty decor. No waiter service. Sometimes the tables arent cleaned immediately after customers leave. You order at the counter and move down the line (like a privately owned mexican subway) telling them exactly what you want on your burrito/taco/etc. A chicken burrito with everything on it $4.99 and awesome. Order at the counter, sit down to eat, clear your trash. Ill be back. Good quiet night meal for take out or sitting in with a friend. No booze though.

  • Anya L.

You can't get any better than this. TL is like stepping out of Ma and into Mexico. The pulled pork and fresh salsa and guacamole are authentic and delish. They have bottled sodas which is cool. I always get a chicken burritos with jalepeno peppers and my husband loves the taco trio combo Mmmmmm

    (5)
  • Amanda G.

I will roll up in this joint and completely demolish a burrito in the most unlady-like manner possible. The meat is seasoned just right, and everything is as fresh as it gets. The dining room, while sparse, is nice and clean, or I highly recommend taking your burrito downtown for a stroll.

  • Meghan D.

Best, most authentic Mexican you'll find in the area. The ingredients are all fresh & super tasty. I tried the steak burrito and my daughter's chicken quesadilla; both were delicious. My kid was off put by the authenticity...she was expecting ground beef and the like, and this place only offers grilled steak, chicken, and pulled pork. So if youve got a picky kid, take that into consideration. They offer rice milk, which is fantastic to drink with spicy food, and glass bottled Coca Cola made with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. Trust me, it's way better with sugar! The dining area was clean & decorated nicely for a fast food restaurant. There was plenty of room for my family and many others to sit & eat. The place was hopping, service was fast and friendly, and the food is priced very low, considering the quality. I will be going back to try every ingredient on the menu, which is saying a lot, as I am not usually a huge fan of Mexican food. Taco Lupitas is in a class of its own as far as I'm concerned. Go now.

Once again Yelpers came through for me and recommended a fantastic place! Today it was Tacos Lupita. It all starts when you walk through the door. The first thing I noticed was a diverse clientele, both ethnically and economically. And then you notice the music of the region that your food is from; it kind of has a mariachi sound to it. Even though the restaurant and the dining room are small and unassuming, it definitely has an ambiance to it. I got a good vibe as soon as I walked through the door. And now for the review of the food- it's delicious!!! I ordered the grilled pork burrito and it was to die for! The meat was seasoned just right and the portions were generous! My fiancée ordered a chicken Quesada. Her's was so huge that she couldn't even finish it. She seemed to like every bit of hers just as much I did! The drink selection was pretty cool too. The Coke comes in 20oz. glass bottles that I've never seen in the United States. Last but not least- price & service- very reasonable and very polite. For two of us it cost less than $15.00, including drinks. And the servers are polite, friendly and hard working! I've never had the pleasure of experiencing a burrito in the Southwest but I can tell you that I've never had a burrito like this before. I guess you can say this place is the real deal! I'll be going back there soon:)

  • Busy L.

It wasn't terrible but didn't wow me. This was the second time I've been here and both times it's barely OK. Skip the burritos. It's not worth eating. Very generic. Tacos were good and tasty. I have to agree with a previous reviewer that the meat that is sitting in the steam table is dried out looking. Had the carnitas burrito and pork was very dried out. Ditto for the roast pork.

    (2)
  • Danielle R.

The food is good and made right in front of you. The staff is always friendly and helpful with any questions. The food is delicious, however it does depend on what time you go with how the meat is, but that's usually how I decide on what to get. I highly recommend the burritos. The toppings are always fresh and the flavors are delicious.

This place is the TRUE diamond in the rough. The food is cheap and very tasty! Very good customer service when you are ready to order. This is one of the place taco/burrito places that I've ever been to.

outstanding burritos! i'm addicted to the al pastor and on Sundays they have Menudo (tripe soup). they're pressing the masa fresh for each order of tacos.

  • Mandy M.

Having lived in CA, my taste for Mexican food is a bit elitist. I just want good authentic food. I really doubted I'd be able to find anything close to the food of the Mission, but this place is great! Everything is made to order, always fresh and very fairly priced. I always go here when I'm in the area, and I'm sure to bring friends along.

The best burritos in the Merrimack valley for $5 !!!!! You can't beat them for great mexican at a resonable price.

  • Mandy L.

Best burritos in the northeast, and the only Mexican I can eat after living in the mission district of SF CA. Their nachos are fantastic too... but I don't think they make them very often cause I usually catch them off guard, but if you ask for them fully loaded they're AMAZING. Don't think about it. Go. Eat. Become addicted.

The burritos are excellent. Prepared with either steak, chicken, grilled pork or fried pork.

  • Elizabeth D.

Maybe my expectations were too high because of the other reviews, but I thought this place was just okay to pretty good. The guy making my burrito did it in less than 30 seconds, and most of that time was spent steaming the tortilla. I am a fan of steak burritos, so I figured that's what I'd try on my first time here. The steak was in tiny pieces, very finely chopped and crunchy on the edges. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be crunchy or not, but it wasn't for me. The pico had a ton of onions, which I liked, and they had fresh limes ready to be squeezed onto your burrito - a plus in my book. So my burrito was a steak burrito with rice and black beans, pico, sour cream, lime, and cilantro. The rice was kind of dry, which can be fine if the other ingredients are moist, but overall, everything was a little dry. I should have asked for extra sour cream, or, duh, I should have gotten guac but I didn't see it out when I was listing off the additions to my burrito, and since the guy was moving faster than the speed of light, I didn't have time to consider asking. Another reviewer mentioned the burritos are sizeable, about the size of your forearm. Well, this estimate isn't too far off - mine was about 3/4 the length of my forearm! Anyway, I'll probably go back to try a few other things. You really can't beat the prices - my burrito was $5 plus tax, very reasonable. Also, I got my burrito to go, which is a nice option if you're on your way home from work and need to pick up some quick grub.

The best food value in Haverhill. Fresh ingredients, fast, friendly service, and the best burrito north of the border! For less than a McDonald's meal you get some serious food. They also have authentic Coca Cola: the kind that is made with cane sugar. Unbeatable!

Good and solid all around. I don't think the quality of the ingredients was the greatest but it was all fresh and tasty. A great place to go for a cheap lunch that is close by. My new favorite dive! I even had a piece of something burnt in my burrito, but it was still really tasty. However, I do think the rice and beans are pretty much the same at every Mexican place around here.

This is the opposite of Taco Bell. Everything tastes like it was just made 2 minutes ago, the prices are right, and the atmosphere can't be beat. I've only been for lunch and it's been great every time. The people behind the counter switch between English and Spanish faster than my TV and don't miss a thing. All kinds of people eat there - a table full of painters was sitting next to some lawyers in suits and everyone was happy. Last time I was there, Juan Luis Guerra was playing in the background & that made it even better.

This is it, the classic Mexican food you love. It's cheap, fast or and did I mention the Al Pastor is amazing. It's all really good food. Classic tacos, burritos, huaraches, mulitas and ox tail soup on Saturdays. You can see all of the food prep in plain sight, nothing premade. Don't be scared off by the looks of the building. If you are, you will be rewarded for bravery with an awesome meal. Staff is friendly, doesn't matter what language. Bonus- Guac isn't extra here. FYI- Al Pastor is roast pork

Great food. Freshly made, and good flavor. I've heard wonderful things about the items I have not tried. Freshly baked dough, flavorful pork, good salty chips, tasty horchata (just right amount of sweetness). Great variety of food options as well. I don't love the salsa as it's just large pieces of onion and tomato. I'll try the guac next time.

An absolute an utter hidden gem in Haverhill. The service is very friendly even though they only speak a little english. Amazing hustle on all the workers there. If you're waiting for your burrito, it means they're busy, not loafing around. You can see them cooking authentic al pastor on a rottisserie behind the counter, and the ingredients are always fresh. If you aren't a fan of REAL mexican, or only like your burritos with rice and sour cream, or are scared off by a humble little shack in a sketchy neighborhood: Good, don't come here. Let's keep this place the initiated's little secret. Lastly, I can't let this review go without mentioning the guacamole; it is by no means great. Its watered down, but, they don't charge any extra for it on your burrito. Clearly they had to make a compromise to keep their prices down which obviously some people will not like, or not realize. To me, it is not enough to warrant a lesser grade compared to the rest this place offers.

Meh. I love me some Mexican food, 1. Because I'm Hispanic, 2. Because I'm pregnant. With that in mind, I'm really surprised I didn't love this place. I did not visit the restaurant so I can't speak to cleanliness, friendliness, etc. my husband picked the order up and brought it home. We got a burrito and tacos, which both came with rice. For me the flavor just wasn't there, it was bland. Maybe we went on an off day? I get much better (and cheaper) food from the bodegas. Plus, they swiped our card twice and didn't tell us. Now I get to fight that battle with the bank.

had tears in my eyes as I ate at this place.. reminded me of back home in SoCal.. It's no King Taco, but it's probably the closest you are going to get in Mass.. If you like Chitpole, this place is NOT for you.. I hate Chitpole.. I've been look for a place like this for a bit. I wish their hot sauce was hotter.. they probably have some in the back, but the general public probably can't handle it. There's seating for about 40. I wouldn't come here for a first date. Only bring people here that care about the food, not the ambiance. Their Al Pastor and Carne Asada is great.. I had the burrito and taco, pretty good. Burrito was $4.99 each and tacos were $2.50 each (I saw a sign saying prices were going up in June 2015)... If this means anything to you, they use TWO taco tortillas for ONE taco. Might not mean much to you, but this means a lot to me. The business hours are wrong on Yelp and Google. I think they close at 9pm and 10pm on weekends.

I am a frequent here because I I've about two blocks away. Price wise, you can't beat it for the selection and quality. I am usually a hater when it comes to steak in burritos, but they season it very well. I am also a big fan of lengua, and I have tried theirs and it is pretty standard. Definitely stop in on Sundays if you are a fan of menudo. The portions are huge and they clean the tripe very well.

After moving back to the northeast from Texas, I've been on the hunt for a good taqueria. After being largely disappointed with all of the "mexican" restaurants around me, I found Tacos Lupita. This place will now be my go-to whenever I'm craving simple and authentic deliciousness wrapped in a corn tortilla. Would've been 5 stars but the beans were underseasoned and slightly undercooked and they were out of lengua, pupusas and gorditas at the time. This place is definitely worth checking out.

First time customer. Great people that work here - very friendly. The food was very fresh and a wonderful alternative to the taco/burrito chains like chipotle or moe's. I will definitely come back.

Oh No. I hadn't been in a while and was fiending a good burrito truck style burrito. When the ingredients get more expensive, you either cut portion size or raise prices and it feels like these guys chose to cut portion size. Where's the beef? ...and the chicken, and the beans and y todos? The burritos are no less flavorful, but are a full inch smaller in diameter. I'd pay the dollar or two for it to be normal size again.

While I must admit, I have always enjoyed Tacos Lupita. They are a small family owned business that historically has always provided quality food and service. However, the other day I experienced genuine discrimination from its staff. On Thursday, January 29, at 7:40pm, I went into the restaurant to order a burrito, and chips with salsa and guacamole. The staff was playing spanish music, and the chorus to the particular song that was playing repeatedly said "yo quiero". I paid for my meal and when I walked out one of the three men working then yelled "yo quiero puta" and the three men then laughed. Puta means "fag" in spanish. I am fluent in spanish and very clearly understood the connotation of what was said. What was shouted were not the lyrics to a song, rather one of the men made a offensive, derogatory and ignorant remark about my sexuality. Please do not support this business.

I love going to this place. It's hands down in my top 3 favorite places to get a burrito. It's easily the best place in the Merrimac Valley. Every time I go there, I am greeted by the friendly staff, which by now has grown accustom of seeing my face over the years. I personally recommend getting the roast pork and fried pork together, it's my personal favorite. I would give it a five star review, but unfortunately, their guacamole, is very watery.

One of the best burritos I've ever had! Don't be fooled by the run down look of this place and it's location. The food and service is great! I tried the roast pork burrito made with black beans and the works. The meat was very flavorful. It would have been better with grated cheese though. The prices are incredible here!! I'll absolutely be back for more. Try the Mexican glass bottle Coke! PASS!!

  • Danie R.

The burritos here are amazing. Everything was super fresh and tasty. It was not a crazy overstuffed burrito, but it was a perfectly filled, filling burrito. I'm particularly a fan of the pork, but my mister likes the steak. And at $4.99, it can't be beat! I think this is the best deal, possibly ever. Their green sauce is the bomb, ask for extra on the side. Also you can get Mexican coke here! Love. I should expand past burritos, but they're just so good. Maybe I'll get a burrito AND a quesadilla next time!

Amazing carnitas, they are authentic & very quick. Growing up eating homemade mexican food- this place was a sight for sore eyes. Great prices but the carne asada & al pastor was a little dry. Very nice workers also.

Small taco place in busy industrial downtown. Don't judge a book by its cover. The burritos here outbeat any other burrito I've ever had. A steak and cheese with lettuce cilantro and their homemade hot sauce is heaven in a tortilla. Please, if you're from Haverhill, this is a must stop. A hidden jewel and staple for the city.

  • Meg D.

The burritos here are amazing, as people below me have mentioned. Its more of a take out joint, but there are some tables to sit at. I got the roast pork burrito. The only thing I didnt like is that they just put one slice of queso on it, I prefer the shredded cheese. I also tried a bite of a torta which was good as well. I cant wait to go back and try out more.

Small and quaint this taco/ burrito joint is mind blowing I got a roast pork burrito that was the most delicious of my life! I also got the steak Torta with everything on it and the steak was so delicious seasoned perfectly and super tender. To say the least I went back and got 4 more the next week, the bread was fresh soft with a little chew quite delectable I definitely recommend this place for anyone with a taco burrito or Torta craving! There awesome fast service your in and out in 5 minutes! There are also chairs and tables for you too eat there :)

Anyone in the area with a burrito craving should definitely come here. Best burritos we've had in a long time! You can tell this place is a local favorite based on all the positive reviews. I love how one of the only negative review (written just yesterday) says nothing specific at all about the food or service, only that the experience was disappointing. I call BS. If you're going to give a place one star I demand details! The only reason I can imagine someone being disappointed would be if they wanted a romantic atmosphere, or something fancy. This is a small, no frills joint with a few tables, but we always get our burritos to go. Some time we might get around to trying one of the other dishes they make at Tacos Lupita, but the burritos are just too good to pass up!

  • Lindsey A.

Really great burrito--could have been a bit warmer, but overall very delicious and they let you choose as many toppings and additions as you want without charging extra for every little thing. Friendly staff, super cheap prices and chill atmosphere. Traditional Mexican. Happy to have discovered this place. From the outside, it doesn't look like much but you will be pleasantly surprised! One of the cooks even let me try a little cow tongue because I was curious!

  • Felicha G.

Being from Puerto Rico, my family does not make tacos or burritos. We eat plenty of rice and beans, but when I want my Mexican fix... let me tell you, this is where I go! Food is fresh, staff is very friendly (and quick!), and the sit down area is great for the small amount of space they have. This is the most authentic, and best tasting Mexican food I have had in Massachusetts. Yum!

  • Frannie Z.

I think I used to be a harsher critic. I just today realized I had only given Tacos Lupita 4 stars in the past. I've now realized I'd be hard pressed to find a better burrito or torta. I've been coming to Tacos Lupita for years and they have been consistently good. Prices are great too. Just about everyone I bring here raves about the food. (OK Polly didn't but she's the only one) It's better when you bring a friend because then you can split a torta and a burrito and not have to choose between them. Trust me there's no way you'd be able to eat both! So if you find yourself in Haverhill take a drive over to Tacos Lupita. Then you can PM me that I gave you a great lead :)

I am not sure why so many people give this place such high reviews. My son likes the burritos, however, when I go in I find it real dirty. It is always stifling hot and it just doesn't look very sanitary. I also find them very unfriendly, gruff and just not nice.

Visiting from out of town and decided to try based on reviews here. Gear steak burrito. Will be returning on future visits. Hours of operation on here are a little outdated. Went on a Tuesday at 8:30 and they were still open.

I love coming here. The food is cheap and amazing. My go to is the roast pork burrito. The roast pork has these crispy, charred edges you don't get anywhere else. I would also like to recommend this authentic (rice milk) drink. It's right next to the fruit punch if they have it. It's not too sweet but really ties the meal together. This is a good place for lunch or a snack.

I came back to Haverhill for a mini tour with Frannie and my final stop was here. This time we split a roasted pork burrito and a chorizo (sp?) torta. Oh yeah ... it was gooooood. The roasted pork "seemed" drier than last time but maybe it was more flavorful with all that went with the torta. BUT believe me, it was still delicious. Although I am not a chorizo fan (maybe because I have never had a good one), it was flavorful and worked in the torta well.

When I lived in Beverly, I used to go to the Tacos Lupita in Lynn at least once every couple months. That location is easily a 5-star. Since moving to Haverhill, I was happy to learn that there was a Tacos Lupita a mere five minute drive from my house. I went in one day and ordered the three tacos for myself (two pork, one tongue) and a burrito for my fiancee. The food tasted as good as that which I was used to getting at the Lynn location, but the size of the burrito my fiancee received paled in comparison to what the Lynn location used to serve. Not too big of a deal considering it still tasted great and all. The main issue was the guy taking my order. He was somewhat rude and seemed almost unhappy that I was at his restaurant. I'd still go back since the food tastes great and the prices are affordable, but I definitely prefer the Lynn location.

what are you people thinking ???????????? the food is ok it is what it is. Too expensive they all have a lousy attitude. The food sits in a hot tray for hours and then when you order they give it a toss i cant believe that someone could contemplate giving this dump a 4 never mind a five? just goes to show that the people that come to a place like this have not a clue they want to be like Chipolte but this just is not even close

All the rave reviews, and to be honest: I prefer Chipotle. Don't get me wrong, I love authentic Mexican, but the chicken burrito I had was surprisingly lacking in flavor. The beans were especially bland. However, the prices are excellent, and the chorizo and egg burrito my wife had was great. Terribly unfriendly service. You can tell how much they hate the gringos.

I went here on a Friday night a while back and was pleased with my order. There was a minor issue with being charged wrong, but when I pointed it out, the man running the front apologized profusely and really made an effort to let me know it wasn't intentional. The food is the standard choice of meat, veggies, and toppings arranged on the flour or corn vehicle of your choice. I got a burrito, and after getting it home, I was really surprised at the flour tortilla it was housed in. The tortilla was thin and elastic while also holding the insides snugly without getting soggy. It was completely different than the normal store-bought flour tortillas I'm used to and was perfectly suited to holding a lot of wet ingredients. The tortilla chips appear homemade and are great as well. The horchata tasted a little watery but that's really just nitpicking. Prices are really low and service is quick. To comment on what other people have said: When I went, the chorizo had run out too so make sure to go early if you're set on it. And the guacamole is thin, but i attribute it to lacking a lot of the commercial thickeners many are expecting when they compare it to what you'd buy in a tub. Parking isn't easy but its mostly pick up orders so street space turnover is fast.

The food is great at this place and I have been coming here forever, but some of the staff is extremely lazy and will tell you they don't have items if they aren't into making you something even if they actually have it. For instance I love the chorizo at this place but a few employees clearly don't like preparing it because it takes a whole 5 minutes. So, they will say they don't have it even though it can clearly be seen in the pull out freezer drawer. As I said, the food is great as long as the right crew is working and making it. On nights where the 2 or 3 people that don't care about your food or their job are working, it can be hit or miss. Rather unfortunate as I like eating the food here when even a little bit of effort is present.

I lived right down the road from here, and while their hours weren't GREAT (they are better now, even open later at night on weekends). But good god ya'll they are friggin awesome. This is legit Mexican food. Cafe Azteca is the only place as legit as this, and you have to go to Lawrence to get it. So screw that. Literally everything there is good. Every time that I've been. If I had to recommend something, it would be Chorizo or Burritos. Great Taquitos are hard to come by anywhere. The meat gets dried out easier and the wraps do get hard from baking it... The kid that says he prefers Chipotle, you can have it dude. If you like diarrhea fine, but you don't know real Mexican food. They absolutely do not hate the gringos. half their customer base is white. They also don't speak very good English, so learn Spanish, or don't judge them. It's hard to be personable when you don't speak the language that well.

Delicious, affordable, authentic. Great staff. I'm surprised that Rick N had a negative experience with the staff. I've been there dozens of times and "lazy" is one of the last adjectives I would ascribe to the staff. In my experience, the staff has always been fast, friendly, and excellent.

i moved to haverhill almost a year ago and finally went to Tacos Lupita (after my bf trying to convince me many times to go there!) the food is delicious, fresh and very well priced. I got a chicken quesedilla and throughly enjoyed it. The only thing i would have changed is their salsa..It is more like like chopped onions and tomatoes than traditional salsa. The employees seem to speak very little english, which okay I guess- just if you have a lot of questions it might be difficult to communicate... I can't wait to go back though!

  • Brian H.

It was good, not amazing, but very good. I had a chorizo burrito. I very much enjoyed it. Definitely a no-frills place. I think its pretty authentic (to a mexican fast-food type of place) for the most part. But there are two things i would criticize 1) Guacamole - doesn't look like fresh-made guac. Even if you go to Chipotle or something, it at least looks like they made it there (i don't know if it is). 2) Salsa - it was all onions. I can appreciate a rough chopped salsa instead of a watery mushy one you would find at a lot of places, but it was overpowered by onions. Could have used more tomatoes, cilantro, lime and jalapenos. Will i be back? absolutely, Its walking distance to my place and its hard to pass up a walk-able burrito that overall, is still really good. My favorite burrito ever? Probably not but that doesn't mean i can't enjoy it!

This is one of those places that you wished you lived closer to. But on second thought, maybe not because you would eat there way too much and get fatter. Authentic Mexican fillings for tortas, burritos, and tacos. Very tasty and filling. The meat fillings are perfectly seasoned. They have the Mexican soda Jarritos or coke from Mexico to wash it all down. Plenty of tables so you can eat in or take it to go. A bottle of tapatio hot sauce is available at every table. To my delight this hot sauce can be ordered online. I like it that much!

I've stopped by Tacos Lupita a few times since moving to the area, and have had some great burritos! My usual is rice, beans, sourcream, tomatoes and lettuce with cheese. Fairly plain to most people but still delicious every time! My absolute favorite is horchata! I love this stuff and will always grab some with my meal. The staff have been friendly every time I visited and the prices are affordable. My only complaint is for more veggie options!

One of the hidden gems in Harverhill, although its getting busier everyday. The chorizo burritos are awesome! They are huge and the meat is well seasoned. It's a far cry from the tex-mex food that you get at chain restaurants.

Tacos lupita is incredible. The meats are all fantastic and the flavors very traditional. You can tell by the sizable Latino patronage there that it must be authentic but the flavors are why I go back again and again. Super cheap too. One complaint - Chorizo is on the menu but they never have it. Lame. PASS

Thanks Yelp! This was a perfect find. My family of five stopped for dinner on our way to Maine. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at a VERY affordable price! Excellent food and fast service. No frills restaurant.

Love this place! So authentic and tasty. The pico de gallo is so amazingly fresh & cilantro filled. Not fancy or too expensive, but very, very good food-

I love coming here and would do so multiple times a day if I felt like I wouldn't be judged by the employees, so I keep it to only a couple of times a week

Best tacos in town. Parking can be tricky (street parking only), especially this winter with the snow, but the prices are cheap and the tacos are authentic and delicious!

  • Audrey M.

As with many Haverhill restaurants, they aren't open on Mondays! I can't tell you how many times I have forgotten and tried to fulfill my burrito craving just to find them closed.

  • Jon H.

You can tell how much they hate the gringos.

i moved to haverhill almost a year ago and finally went to Tacos Lupita (after my bf trying to convince me many times to go there!) the food is delicious, fresh and very well priced.

    (4)

  • Existentialist G.

One of the hidden gems in Harverhill, although its getting busier everyday. The chorizo burritos are awesome! They are huge and the meat is well seasoned. It's a far cry from the tex-mex food that you get at chain restaurants.

    (5)
  • George L.

Tacos lupita is incredible. The meats are all fantastic and the flavors very traditional. You can tell by the sizable Latino patronage there that it must be authentic but the flavors are why I go back again and again. Super cheap too. One complaint - Chorizo is on the menu but they never have it. Lame. PASS

  • John T.

  • Lex F.

Yes please!

  • Gretchen D.

    (5)

Roasted pork burritos... HOLY GOD, Amazing... fresh, legit tacos are to die for too... as authentic as a cart on a side street in Playa..... RUN here.

Nice little Mexican joint that doesn't break the bank. And everything is fresh. Just don't go in expecting the Ritz.

I will roll up in this joint and completely demolish a burrito in the most unlady-like manner possible. The meat is seasoned just right, and everything is as fresh as it gets. The dining room, while sparse, is nice and clean, or I highly recommend taking your burrito downtown for a stroll.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
