You know, for the area it's not that bad. I remember Yen Yen being the epitomy of Chinese Food as a kid. It's still not that bad. Their crab rangoons are stuffed with cream cheese, which I like. The food is typically smothered in sauce and not dry, so that's always good too. Overall, it's good compared to the local competition.

Let me tell you why you shouldn't go here. Not for the food, not for the hostess or even the menu. I am a food critique and stopped in here to spend over $30.0 on food and drink and left without ordering an app. This is why. when the "bartender/manager" came to take my order I ordered a #6 which was general tso's chicken and one egg roll. I wanted to order 1 extra egg roll. The bartender/manager told me I couldn't. I asked him him what he meant by " I couldn't". He said its an order of two and I am getting 1 with my dinner and if i want to I can take the extra 1 home. I said I don't want an extra 1 to take home I just want the 1 extra. At this time I'm just playing with him because I wont eat here anyways. I said "so, I have opened my beer here, I want to order $30 in food and I'm going to leave because you cant seem to figure out how to give me 1 extra egg roll with my dinner. He said " I just cant". This is when I picked up my belongings and went to the Asian bistro and had an amazing meal .........with my extra egg roll and no argument. Foolish foolish management and I wont ever spend money there nor do I advise others to .

Yen Yen is a great place. I grew up going here with my family. Its better quality than any other place in the area. The prices are fair and the service is good. My favorite dish is the beef and broccoli. Highly recommend this place.

We recently ate at Yen Yen, the only place I can order spicy eggplant. We order two appetizers and an order of lo mein as well as the eggplant. Everything came out at the same time. The waitress commented that the kitchen was really cooking tonight! The eggplant was so overcooked it was mush. I refused the order and told the waitress to take it back to the kitchen. She went to find the manager and came back with his brother. He hemmed and hawed and finally said that I must not know that they use a purple eggplant in this dish. I told him to stop insulting my intellegence! I'm in my 60's and have eaten this dish MANY times. I know the ingredients very well. He then went into the kitchen and came back and offered to cook me another order. By now, we were finished with the entire dining experience. The waitress and already packaged the lo mein to take home. I told the brother he could have the eggplant on me for supper, if he wanted. He reluctantly took the charge off our bill. He further insulted me by calling me "Hon" and tried to pat my shoulder. I told him, don't ever call me Hon! We will never eat there again. The waitress told us that the next table had complained about the food also and that she and the other waitress had seen the eggplant and agreed it was very overcooked. They used to have great food. Now, they have expanded the bar and the restaurant is much smaller...know I know why!

Food is mediocre at best and they charge you for soft drink refills. Without telling you. Avoid.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
