Nothing to rave home about and by the same token it's definitely not a one star. Most of the reviews around the lobster role focus on price and size. 2 quick comments... they charge so much because they can, secondly size doesn't mean quality in terms of taste. Almost all of the reviews praising the size but nothing about the taste. So, my recent visit gives them an a-ok on the beer selection and overall food. Staff were efficient. A member of my dining party tried the lobster (apparently being on vacation means overpaying for a super-sized average tasting entree - there you go even I complained about the price BUT note, my comment about the taste... haha) I would suggest that people consider getting the lobster roll to share, personally I didn't care too much for the taste and remember is not exactly rocket science to make so... Certainly not the BEST ever and I encourage those who think so to venture out a bit... Mussels were pretty decent and burgers were a safe bet and didn't disappoint. So, if you in the area give them a shot and don't complain about the prices. Beer is good and outside of the lobster roll food was not too bad. I'll give them another try when in the area but I'll seek out other new locales ahead of that return trip.

The lobster roll was packed with lobster and was what we were looking for. The Bloody Mary, however , was not my style. Full of garlic and cocktail sauce . Do not recommend that.

A great atmosphere to grab a beer and an incredible lobster roll. Fabulous dinner without the craziness of high end restaurants! Quick in and out. Couldn't ask for a better place.

Good beer selection, casual atmosphere, tasty Bloody Mary and food. The burgers and chowder we ate were delicious. It was a relaxing afternoon atmosphere so I can't speak to the nighttime scene.

Well,,, let's see,,, is it a testament to this place that we went 3 times in one week for dinner or lunch?? Is it a testament that after meeting and speaking with the cook we came back to try even more inventive yummy stuff a couple days later?? That the owner bought my hubby a beer on his birthday?? That we came the first time as a party of 2 ordering one course and on the last visit of our week we were a party of 7 ordering two courses?? A gem - when DDD finds this place it will be impossible to get in ! I will dream about their lobstah roll until next summer, And so will all the others we brought this week. As it should be. Service as stellar as food, btw. Sigh!

[Visit of Friday evening, June 22] This restaurant wins the award for our trip to Cape Cod. Everything was far better than anything we'd had before. The Lobster Rolls had a half-pound of meat on them and very little mayo or sauce. The Fish and Chips with the cereal and almond crust were excellent. The Stuffed Quahog and the Truffle Fries were great starters. The only change I'd recommend would be to use Shredded Parmesan on the Truffle fries instead of grated. The 18-something waitress also disappeared somewhere in the middle of our dinner. A veteran waitress ended up finishing up our service, taking better care of us. There is a sincere effort to wow and win over the customer here. We found this through Restaurant.com . If you're visiting the area, this is a must for your culinary bucket list.

If you're coming in here for a lobster roll- you're going to be blown away. It might be the best one I've had on the Cape (and I've tried a lot over the years). HUGE and delicious, and even the fries a great. Went in with my bf and they even cut it in half and split it for us on two separate plates. Rest of the food is fine- stuffed quahog wasn't amazing (Raw Bar is better) but good, corn was tasty (like popcorn!) but too much cheese, salad was ok, but lobster roll does not disappoint.

Perfect dinner after a day at the beach and pool. It is indeed a dive bar but on a Tuesday night with two kids in tow, it was the perfect spot. Started with the chowder, which was the best we had so far on the cape, and truffle Parmesan fries. So unnecessary and still so delicious. Then we shared an order of fish and chips - amazing crunchy cornflake and almond crust and the flaky fish - perfect combo. We also had an order of the mussels which is an appetizer but is a huge portion and fabulous. Juicy mussels with chunks of chorizo and a broth that pulls it all together with just the right amount of heat. I don't know what it's like on the weekend but on a weeknight it was perfectly fine to bring in our four and six year old kids. And before I forget - wash it all down with a Bloody Mary. It's heaven with a strip of bacon plunked down in the glass. You have to find the place as it's off the beaten path but it is so worth the trip. The people there are very welcoming and clearly love the food too. Go and enjoy!

Huge and delicious mojito? CHECK! HUGE and delicious lobsta roll (with no mayo and drawn buttah)! CHECK! Awesome prices? Yep, check! Awesome service? I'm looking at you, Kim! CHECK CHECK!! Do I wish that I was eating this right now? YES! I love this little dive bar in a strip mall. This place was laid back, we had a parking spot right out front, and they played great music. If I lived in Falmouth, I'd probably go here every single day for their amazing lobster roll. Easily the best one I've ever had. Oh and their grilled corn and truffled fries were amazing as well. My tummy is growling and wants more lobsta! I am coming back to Falmouth. Solely, for Quahog Republic. Come to Quahog Republic and become a proud, happy and full citizen!

So good! Lobster roll delicious with NO filler! Must have been 2 full tails. Buffalo wings delicious and you have to try the Bloody Mary with bacon. Clean and great service too.

First of all they serve food until 12:30. Awesome! Thats how i discovered the Quahog Republic. They get one star just for that. Went there with my girlfriend for a very late dinner (Every place else closed at ten). I had no idea what to expect. Well the place is very small in a kind of crappy location. However it does say on the sign its a dive bar so they're not trying to be something they're not. Bartender was friendly and the menu was decent. Food was ok. Spinach and artichoke dip was kind of bland. My gf lijed her burger and it looked ok. I had one of their sandwiches. I forget the name but it had short ribs and red peppers in it. It was pretty tasty and filled us up. So take the Quahog Republic for what it is. Id recommend it for a late night meal or to get drinks, but not when other places in the area are still serving food. 3 stars.

Dive bar means two things here. Yes, it has all sorts of nautical, dive related items hanging on the walls, and ceiling, but it also isn't fancy. It is in a strip mall that is nothing to look at. It is pretty much out of the way and you aren't too sure you are going the right way driving there. When you do find it, you will do a double take. I will chose who I take here very carefully. There isn't anything to look at. You will sit in captain's chairs or a booth back. You will be perfectly comfortable wandering in here wearing flip flops and t-shirt. Televisions are going. They have a juke box. Get the feel? It seems like a bar. The food, well, the food is pretty dang good. Four of us went and all four of us enjoyed our lunches. Clam chowder is excellent with some bacon thrown in. Two of us grew up on chowder and the other two come from a place where we have to explain the differences between Manhattan and New England chowder, don't ask about Rhode Island. All of us loved it. They should win some competitions with their recipe. Cuban sandwich, sweet sausage, fish and chips and steamers were had and all enjoyed. Also enjoyed the beer choices. In fact, they have a great new shandy on tap that is perfect for a hot summer day, Curious Traveler shandy. Full bar with some interesting drinking choices. Sounds and feels like a local's place, but you aren't treated like you don't belong, you are treated like you have been there before. Friendly, welcoming waitress and bartender, and I think manager, made you feel at home. I give my stars based on how you fit in in your category. For a casual bar/restaurant, this place is tops. If I want good food and a nice place to chill for a while and not have to get dressed other than whatever I have on, this will be up there on my list. If you are just looking at the surroundings, don't bother, you are a bit too uptight to be able to enjoy this place. ps......bathrooms are very clean, that should tell you something.

Came here based on the 4 yelp stars while we were on vacation and wanted to avoid the typical tourist spots. Was not disappointed! Service is super friendly and the food and drinks are great. We shared the mussels as an appetizer. I had the fish and chips which were fantastic; their special coating really makes it worth trying. Dining companion got the cuban sandwich which was also very tasty. Had the bloody mary to drink which was nice and garlicky and came with bacon(!).

Drinks: Water - water Curious traveller shandy - very light and refreshing Mayflower IPA - mmmmm Grub: Corn - very interesting, blackened a bit on the grill with parmesan and light spices. Would order again in a heartbeat. Chowder - had five bowls in different places on cape. Bacon and bountiful seafood set this chowder apart. Delish. Cuban - giant portion ingredients outstanding. Didn't use traditional press as roll was still arched and fluffy. Lots of bread. Smaller bread portion with same amount of ingredients would improve this sandwich. Fish & chips - a little greasy, yet tender, great cole slaw Chicken strips - my son says second best he has had, yet doesn't come with fries?? Would rate meal 3.5 stars, had to choose 3 or 4 so figured nice bartender and servers along with decent value for money, especially on cape, earns a 4 yet just can't give 4 stars given half was good and half was ok. Dinner for 3 was $59 without tip.

Went back home to visit family as I live out of state, but a classmate works here and also locals from same age range. My friend was not working, however instantly made to feel at home by the male bartender (sorry dude, I know you're reading this, I'm awful with names.....he's wicked funny, gave me the nice "welcome tourist" act because I have NY plates on my jeep, but am a recent out of state native. We sorted that out quickly when I said to cut the shit...he fessed up taking time to notice license plates, and I laughed for nearly 2 hours straight. Its good though---a good attention to detail about your customer before they even walk in the door. Had chowder---best in town---probably one of the only places that doesn't go with the EXACT SAME CHOWDER most restaurants order from 1 supplier in Boston in bulk, fresh delivered every few days----I could name a bunch off my head. QR has their OWN and its awesome. I have to whine, you were out of quahogs when I was in.... :( I did also have truffled fries, which were yummy. Would have gotten meals but were just looking for appetizers. Friends and family at home LOVE this place, its well received in town, sooooo nice to see a locally owned business do well and remain true to local, normal, down to earth native attitudes. If I still lived in town, they'd find me in a tent in the corner with a stack of empty quahog shells. Can't wait to visit in another 6 months.

Amazing bloody Mary's. crunchy fish and chips. Creamy chowdah. Most delicious quahog. REAL lobstah rolls with no fillings. Wow!

Giant lobster roll to go was very good, although a bit underdressed - and I like a very subtle dressing on a lobster roll. Portion does live up to the price. Could have been a bit more dynamic. Maybe they forgot to give me a side of butter. Very good though.

What a yummy fun find! This is a fantastic joint, very casual out of the way spot. They serve An Unbelievable Huge lobster Roll!!!! Enough for two people. Never seen or tasted anything like the massive chunks of fresh lobster they serve here. Supreme and absolutely delish! Terrific Beer selection. Pete the bar manager gave us personal & friendly service! Something very special for both locals & visitors.

My family and I went the other night (April 29 2013). I had read previous Yelp reviews and wanted to see for myself. We arrived at 6:30 or so. There were only 7-8 people at tables or the bar. The decor is as advertised with dive gear and nautical themed things. Nothing fancy about the place. The menus came and I immediately was impressed. Now, there are alot of places on the Cape that not only seem to have the same cloned "seafood" menu, but seem to get many of their supplies from the same source. Go to any one of them, for example, and their stuffed quahog takes exactly the same. Fish and chips - ditto. Fried seafood platter? Uh huh - the same proportion of cod, clams, scallops and shrimp. The novelty of offerings was a refreshing change. Fries with a light coating of shredded cheese and truffle oil. Delicious. The fish and chips with corn flake and almond coating. The first time ever that the coating on my fish and chips had flavor in addition to texture. I was a bit skeptical about the melted cheese on the corn but when I tried it I have to say, it was good. Even the cole slaw was delicious. Great job really. Service was fine - nothing extraordinary but I didn't expect it to be. I went for the food and none of us were disappointed. No chance to try a cocktail as I went with a beer. I'll definitely go again and try some of the other offerings. I wish it were in Woods Hole and not in what-ever you call that place.

Phenominal. I was not expecting the quality of food we recieved. I went off the reviews here on yelp, and I have to say...the Yelp community nailed it. GREAT FOOD!

First and foremost this place is a bar. However im down to go to a bar with killer food and this place makes the cut. I have to admit I was a little thrown off when u walked in and I saw the bar full and no hostess but if u read the sign its a dive bar. The hubby and I found a table in the back right underneath a scuba diver. Yes a scuba diver, there are some funny decorations inside. The barkeep was great and very helpful. I got the grilled corn for an app. Covered with cheese and grilled to tantalize you, love it. Fish and chips batter was interesting and yummy. Hubby got lobster roll and stuffed quahog. Both were yummy.

This place is a hole in the wall dive bar but their food was much more to be desired. We ordered the Cordon Blue Egg rolls, Scallops Sliders, and some salad with a bunch of berries that we're tasty. All the dishes are definitely recommended!

  • Michael D.

Delicious food! We got the stuffed Quahog, Mussels and Cod Fish & Chips. The Quahog was incredibly flavorful even without the butter dipping sauce. The Mussels were by far our favorite. Savory taste and delicious Linguica soup base which was perfect with the buttered bread. The fish and chips come with corn flake and almond crusting, which is not only unique but quite tasty. Will definitely come back if I visit Falmouth again!

I was honestly surprised I liked this place. I held off on going for a while because of the location - a rundown mini-strip mall behind the Walmart where you frequently find sketchy people wandering around. Nevermind the moldy bowling alley around back (I've definitely found syringes in the parking lot). Welcome to Cape Cod! They have a decent beer selection on tap (not the usual Sam/Harpoon/cheap light beers that all the other bars around here carry) and are often offering some kind of tropical drink special (though I've often heard the management tell the bartender to not "push the punch" because it tasted terrible. They have decent bar food and a dart board. I was pretty impressed with their veggie burger.

  • Matt W.

This place was a waste of time and money. The quahog was all breadcrumbs. The fish came straight from a box from the grocery store (well after a few freeze - defrost cycles). I don't know what the cook thought a Cubano was supposed to be but that was not it. It was just a ham and cheese sandwich. Considering what we got, the price was twice as much as it should be. Ugh. Stay away.

Stopped in due to positive Yelp Reviews. Glad we did. Sure, no ambiance and tacky strip mall location but the food and service are amazing! Best chowder we've had all week on the cape. We've tried the PEI mussels, fish and chips (made with corn flake and almond breading), and the Aussie Burger and all were excellent. Been there twice so far and will be returning for their Monsta Lobsta Roll before we leave for home. No kidding - this food is fresh, unique, well prepared and simply delicious. Both our waitresses, Sara and Kellie, were friendly and attentive while a nice selection of good beers on tap is an added plus. Relaxed, comfortable atmosphere - like being at home and enjoying some of the best tasting food you ever had.

Everything a dive bar should be - exceptional food, yummy drinks and above average customer service! The place was almost full at 2pm, which is always a good sign! You could tell there were a lot of regulars hanging out in the bar area. Since our two kids accompanied us I was happy that this establishment was kid friendly! They had some low-rise tables in the back of the restaurant and plenty of high chairs! True, the location and exterior are suspect but I was really impressed with my overall experience from start to finish! It's a place where the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home (especially the bartender who waited on us!) This is harder and harder to find these days!! My husband ordered the bloody Mary and we both agreed it was one of the best we've had! They garnished it with a slice of bacon, which sounded odd but really gave it a nice flavor! I guess everything really is better with bacon - even beverages!! I would also recommend the quahog chowder (unbelievable!) and the Cuban sandwich. The fish sandwich was also really good. We'll be back for more!!!

Clearly the best local hangout in Falmouth for lobster rolls and fish & chips! The lobster is extremely fresh with just a dab of mayo. We think the lobster roll is the best on Cape Cod. They also have great drinks and a good selection of beers on tap.

The fish and chips were very good, and I like the cubano sandwich. It's a fun place, and has lots of events for the 20-30 set. Good place for kids. Good food most of the time, sometimes average food.

Great Quahog chowder! Waitress was attentive and friendly. My boyfriend loved his Cuban sandwich and I really enjoyed my tuna steak with seaweed salad. This was a great find! Place was great to go to right after the beach. I didn't feel underdressed at all!

Not a bad thing to say about the Quahog. I come here for lunch and dinner fairly regularly and have never been disappointed. Portions are huge and the food is amazing- have not once had a bad meal. The burgers are so big, don't even try to eat the whole thing- you'll have to take half home. I have been spoiled by their food- even their BLT is miles above others in the area. Truffle fries are to die for, chower is great and much more flavorful than most of the typical cape chowders. Owners & staff are super friendly & accommodating and make an effort to remember your name and what you like. Food is always super fresh and made to order, and they have some GREAT specials, especially their eggrolls. I am not much of a drinker, but they seem to have a pretty solid beer selection. Cannot say enough about this place.

I loved this place...the quintessential dive bar! Good beers on tap, great food, warm staff...everything you need for a great friday night in falmouth...will def be coming back here....TRY THE WINGS!

Doesn't look like much from the parking lot, but the place is awesome. Bartender/waiter was friendly, helpful and fun. Had the fried pickles special - DEElicious. The cod fish and chips was best I have ever had, and the coleslaw was even perfect, creamy without being soggy. Beer of the week was a local microbrew and pretty cheap - $4 for a bottle. I will definitly be back to try other dishes. My son had the clam chowder, which was also to die for. Not the most elegant location or place, but best-in-class for local bar with eats.

I've been here numerous times, when it was the Mashnee Island Gril and Beach Bar and I usually have a pretty good experience. The only time I ever had a bad experience was when they severely undercooked the jerk chicken sandwich. They were so appalled they immediately made me a new one and comped me and my date the entire meal (needless to say I was fine with the way things turned out) and thats pretty much the status quo for here. Just recently I went with my extended family, a party of 9 (plus the newest baby in the family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and we had a really good time. We started with a few rounds of drinks, I went with a Manhattan (I was feeling homesick for NYC, and its the only thing my 88-year old Grandfather will drink) and then went to Jameson and Gingers. Both were a little weak, but still fairly tasty. For appetizers we tried the fried conch, a few cups of chowder and two orders of the artichoke dip. the conch was light and fried well, with two sauces, a flavorful marinara and a decent but rather heavy tartar sauce. The chowder was decent. Too soupy, not creamy enough. Everyone else liked it but me (cry). The artichoke dip was my favorite of the apps. I feel like too many artichoke dips rely on the cheese as opposed to the freshness and quantity of the artichoke, whereas as this dip was light and heavy on the 'chokes. It also came with toasted pita bread, which was a nice change from shitty bread or tortilla chips that normally come with this dish. For the meal I went with their specialty burger, which was a little out there. It was a half pound of Black Angus Beef, pineapple, apple smoked bacon, caramelized onions, cheese, lettuce and tomato, adorned with three grilled shrimp. Overall, the sandwich was tasty, but I just felt like there was too much going on, and I never really got a sense of the flavor of the beef. If you're going to use such high quality beef as Black Angus, why hide it under so much accoutrement? Also, I eat a lot of burgers, and I highly doubt that was a half pound. 6 ounces AT MOST. Overly, a very fun outing. And I'm just realizing the new baby is 2 and a half now, but she's so damn cute and silly she'll always be the little baby to me. DISCLAIMER: If I was in New York, this place would get 3 stars. But it's Bourne, MA and for the area this place is pretty awesome. SECOND DISCLAIMER: I know and understand how douchy the previous disclaimer sounds, I just don't give a fuck.

Ever hear of a restaurant that goes out of its way to turn away your business? We heard good things about this restaurant and in spite of giving them plenty of notice, wilingness to sit at different tables, etc.. they literally told us not to come with our very large party. I know plenty of other places happy to seat us, as we discovered!

I reviewed this place when it was on Mashnee Island and said it had great views and lousy food, now its the opposite!. Have eaten here twice and both times owner Eric Bevens(sp?) has been busy working along with his employees which I really respect. Even though its hidden in a non descript strip mall, he has decorated the inside to look seashorey and all nautical so it works. Food is fresh, well prepared and service is great and generally value priced. Not a tourist place (they would never find it), but a locals hangout. Seafood is featured as one would guess, but other land chow is good too.

  • Susan R.

Same owners as Mashnee Island- New location.... We went here as I live in the heights and it is close by. It is located in a strip mall- not the best ambiance. It is pretty small inside. It has a bunch of bar height seating and 3 "regular" height tables. I mention this because if you have little kids (I do), bar height seating is not good. The drinks are great. Fresh squeezed juices and interesting drinks. the food is average fried food. There was nothing great on the menu except the lobster roll or the quahogs. A ton of fried food and very limiting menu. I would go again for drinks and a quick appetizer but this isn't good for a real dinner.

  • Cport J.

Yelp has confusingly moved this restaurant and its reviews to the new location. The main difference is that it's no longer a beachfront restaurant on Mashnee Island. Now it's a dive bar in a strip mall across from the Falmouth Mall. Still good food and prices though.

My finance and I checked out the Quahog Republic for lunch on a beautiful day in July. It's a very casual grill right on the water. Basically a low-key fun beach shack type of place where you'll fit right in in flip flops and a t-shirt. It reminded me of a lot of the fun beach shacks I've been to in San Diego. The view of the water / inlet harbor is pretty awesome from the decks. You can site outside and take in the views. I was a big fan! Afterward we wandered around on a stretch of public beach just to the left of the restaurant (cut through the gate just to the left of the volley ball court as you are facing the water). The beach immediately out front is owned by the Mashnee homeowners association so it's apparently off limits to outsiders. The food was decent. We had the fish sandwich. It was a very fresh piece of local fish (don't remember if it was cod or haddock, etc) breaded, fried and coated with almonds. Yummy, but batter was a bit thick. My fiance had a cheese burger which was good. Definitely a quality piece of meet cooked just to specs. Very standard bun, toppings, etc. We also tried one of the homemade stuffed scallops. This was just ok. In general I'm finding out that I'm not a huge fan of all these "stuffed" seafood delicacies on the cape. It just tastes like a like of breading & butter to me. It did have very small chunks of scallop & shrimp and was served in a scallop shell (which was a cool touch). The outside deck had a oyster/clam bar that looked very cute and affordable. We didn't try this so I can't comment on the quality but it looks fun. The sign indicates that they will give shucking lessons. I also loved how the raw bar sign is written on the back of a beach chair and just propped up on the wall. Overall, I would recommend this place for a lunch or casual dinner. I would definitely go back if I was in the area.

Good selection of local beers, yummy fish n' chips battered with cornflakes & almonds. For an appetizer, you have to try the grilled corn, chunks of corn on the cob with a spicy lime aioli and melted cheese on top. Amazing. Waitresses were laid-back and friendly. A good home-town, nautical vibe. This isn't the beachfront grill that a lot of people are writing about. It's out of the way, in a crappy strip mall, but that only serves to keep a good crowd of locals frequenting the place instead of tourists.

First off, I don't like quahogs. I'm challenged to even spell the word, but don't let the name fool you, they have a broad menu and what I had was fantastic, with some caveats. I was immediately won over when the white-haired bartender (think Leslie Neilsen) plopped down a Bloody Mary WITH A CRISP SLAB OF BACON STICKING OUT OF IT!!! OK, I get it. that's not for everyone, but I thought it was cool. Large screens flicker sports from strategic points in the room. To my left, I heard a dart grab some padded felt. My shrimp cocktail arrived. A 60ish guy next to me said, "They're good, but pricey." He was right. $3.50 a pop in an Oceanside town seemed high. "Bob," a local with his left arm missing, chatted me up some more. I guess he was a sailor. He told be about his three homes, one on a Carribean island. There were some great menu choices including ribs, beef, etc., plus a pan seared scallop dish that sounded scrumptious, but trying to be good, I went with a veggie burger. Toasted bun, nice fresh lettuce and tommies... It was the best veggie burger I've ever had! For dessert, I went with a Wachusett Blueberry ale. The place has a nice selection of about 8-10 rotating choices on tap, and they'll tey you try before you buy at the bar. "Bob" returned from a private phone call. After he heard I had a meeting in Newport, RI the following Monday, he said, you come sailing with me. Come to the Newport Yacht Club Tuesday at 5:30 and ask for "Armagon." Suddenly I heard that creepy music that you'd hear in a David Lynch film. I scanned the room for mid... Uh, short people. I don't know if I'll go sailing with "Armagon," but I'm definitely going back to Quahog Republic!

So I finally trekked down to the cape to hit up the Quahog Republic Dive Bar in Falmouth... and I am super glad I did... awesome, perfect spot for any sort of bar atmosphere you are looking for.. Want a great bar with an excellent beer list? YUP. Want a cool little spot to just hang out and shoot the breeze with a bartender? YUP. Want a place open late on the Cape (kitchen til 12:30 i think) YUP. Want a spot where you can hang out with friends and watch whatever Boston related sports event happens to be on, on a number of big screens? YUP. Want an absolutely KICK-ASS bloody mary served with lots of olives and oh yeah, BACON! YUP! Want excellent, and i mean EXCELLENT takes on bar nosh of all kinds? YUP. To me when i think of a good little dive bar and if i owned/ran my own what it would be like i now have a working example of what that would be.. I love this place.. No pretensions, no attitude, just AWESOME food, EXCELLENT Beer choices and mixed drinks, and OUTSTANDING staff. If I still lived on Cape this place would trump ANY OTHER BAR as my local. For tourists visiting the Cape for the first time, do yourself a favor and go see what a Cape-Codders dream joint looks like..

This is one of those places you don't give a second look when you drive by but my husband and I sampled and loved their clam chowder at the annual Hyannis Chowder Fest...(Love the Chowder Fest!) so we decided to give it a try and boy are we glad we did! There were so many good looking things on the menu it was hard to stick to the chowder we went in for. We ordered a stuffed quaohog too for the heck of it which was great. We loved this little place and look forward to going back.

The boyfriend and I dropped by for a drink one night after dinner during our week stay in Falmouth. We were welcomed in and instructed to take a seat wherever. We chose the bar and took in our surroundings, quickly realizing the dive bar name was a cute play on words. Cool idea especially for its location in a nondescript strip mall. The beer menu was pretty good. When they didn't have the craft beer I ordered, the bartender offered some suggestions. He was getting off but got our drinks anyway and introduced us to the girl who would be taking care of us the rest of the night. We had already eaten dinner but browsed the menu anyway (despite my smaller size, I can out-eat just about anyone). The menu options looked amazing and were definitely more impressive than I expected. Reasonable prices especially compared to other restaurants in the area. For some unknown reason, I had been craving scallops wrapped in bacon all week. While they were not on the menu, I asked the bartender anyway. She quickly chatted with the cook who was more than obliging, asked how many we wanted and gave us a reasonable price. When she thought she may have been unclear, she made sure we were all on the same page. Very impressed with the employees. As far as the food, YUM! Even though we were full, we scarfed down those scallops. Unlike your normal scallops in bacon, they still tasted like real seafood. Cooked perfectly, delicious, and more than accommodating for the annoying tourist's request. This place had a cool, relaxed vibe. Good menu. Extremely accommodating. They even had a trip planned to see the Paw Sox that any customer could join! Highly recommend this place.

Very disappointing when compared to the old Mashnee Island Grille/Quahog Republic. Atmosphere is a bar in a strip mall. Really loved the old MIG/QR, but won't be going back to this new location. Food was just okay, but menu is much limited from previous dining establishment There doesn't seem to be anything to draw me back to this restaurant right now. We will always lament the loss of the Mashnee Island location.

Go here, have a bloody mary (they used garlic, sundried tomato and poblano pepper house infused vodka) and an italian egg roll. The new location isn't ideal, but it's still a great restaurant. The owners and staff are friendly and the food is great.

This place is tucked away behind the Wallmart. I had the quahog chowder, which was nice and thick, but a bit salty. My wife pointed out it had bacon in it, which explained some of the flavor, but still salty. I was disappointed with the lobster roll. The lobster smelled fishy and was super cold. It tasted good though, making me think it had sat in the fridge for a while and picked up some odor in there. The restaurant was not very busy, seemed more like a local drinking spot, so my guess is they don't turn over that much lobster salad versus other restaurants in town. Overall, a local bar with a surprisingly nice beer selection. Stick to fried food and you'll be fine.

Divey. A great place to avoid tourists, which is clutch if you're stuck training at Camp Edwards. A buddy ordered the wings, which seemed kind of sad, but another friend said the potato skins were decent. I liked that it was a great place for a big group to enjoy some adult beverages, and they had Downeast Cider. A definite plus.

Great lobster roll! There was like 1lb of lobster on the HALF roll portion... like there were chunks so big that I had to eat them with my hands! Lol Also had the Truffle Parmesan fries to go with it and they were TASTY* Forgot to take a picture of the mussels cause we were hungry and just dove in, but they were great as well!

Their lobster roll... I dream about it, that's how delicious it was. They serve plenty of lobster, no mayo on the lobster roll, letting you taste the freshness of the lobster. Loved it! Will definitely come back.

What a great find! We had fried fish, a chicken sandwich, and the chowder, all of which were show-stoppingly good. Can't recommend it enough!

We rent a house every year in Falmouth and try to see and experience all there is to offer. Tonight we started out at a recommended well known restaurant in Woods Hole. Food was great, well run restaurant, but atmosphere was sub par. We left and decided to stop at Quahog on the way home for drinks.. Bar was full, so we took a table. People next to us ordered a pizza and wings. Food smelled so good we actually got hungry again, but, resisted ordering. The best part was the service. Emma was awesome! She's a superstar server. Very accommodating, and took the time to talk with us. The atmosphere was great, good music, love the decor and vibe that this "dive" bar encompasses. Drinks were perfect and priced to sell. In fact we will be back tomorrow with the whole family for dinner after smelling the pizza and wings. Emma invited us back! I have managed restaurants for 17 years. It's really hard to walk into one and not dissect it. It was such a pleasure to enjoy my cocktail with my spouse without even thinking about managing my surroundings. Great job Emma! Can't wait to return.

Stopped by for a quick dinner with the family. It's tucked into a strip mall, so I wouldn't have passed by if it wasn't for yelp. Atmosphere- definitely a dive bar. You walk in and there's a huge bar on the left. And high top tables on the right. There's lots of stuff on the walls- stickers, pictures, etc. it doesn't really have the atmosphere of a family-friendly place, but if you're more laid-back, it works just fine! Food- I had the lobster roll which was huge and really really good! I actually shared it with my mother-in-law and it was a good size for us. We upgraded from chips to the Parmesan truffle fries, which I don't think was really worth it. It was an extra four dollars, and I didn't think they were that amazing. They were good, but not worth four dollars extra in my opinion. My husband had the crunchy fish sandwich which was actually very good too! You could tell that it wasn't just frozen and fried, but hand breaded with almonds and cornflakes. Service - The service was fine, nothing extraordinary, but not bad either. We had to ask for a few things like extra napkins and the check, but she brought them right away. Overall - this was a great place when you're starving and have two hungry kids in the car. I might go back for the lobster roll, but there are a lot of places in the Cape that I want too!

A dive bar in Falmouth, didn't have high hopes, but the yelp reviews were good so gave it a shot. Wasn't disappointed, service was a tad slow, but that's to be expected at a dive. Ordered a bunch of apps and they were all decent. Overall, not a bad place, I'll probably be back, good beer and good bar food.

Small place that is a little off the beaten path in a strip mall. Only stopped in for some apps. The chowder was thick and creamy and Scott enjoyed. Truffle Parmesan Fries were hot and had tons of flavor. Service was ok and tried hard to not be too friendly.

I decided to come here based on the reviews I've seen so we gave it a try. It is really off the main road and kind of hidden around a corner up a hill sort of in a strip mall. It's not very easy to find and I'd have to think if it weren't for Yelp or locals it's not the type of place you may come across by accident because of it not really being in plain site. I had the Bloody Mary with bacon and I have to say while it was tasty it was very, very strong because of how much garlic may have been in it. That sort of threw me because while I really do like garlic I simply wasn't prepared for it I guess. I'm really more used to Caesars which are more spicy than anything. I was disappointed because they were out of lobster roll and I have to admit that is one of the reasons we went. We wanted to try the monstah lobstah roll but we simply couldn't. My wife started off with the chowder which wasn't served as hot as I thought it could have been still it was tasty. It had nice flavorful bits of bacon in it. She also had the Cuban sandwich which looked to be ok and she said it was normal. She has had her fair share of Cuban sandwiches in her time. I ordered the fish and chips which is cod but what makes their fish and chips different is they batter it with cornflakes and shaved bits of almonds so the fish is crispy and quite tasty. The portion is a nice size overall and it sort of made up for the fact we couldn't get the lobster roll. Overall the experience was ok. The service was quick and friendly and they have a lot of TVs so you can watch sports while eating.

This is a great little local place! Very friendly staff, accommodating to our toddler. Lobster roll was the best, large chunks of meat. Definitely big enough to share. Stuffed quohog was yummy, too, as well as some of the best chowder we have tried. They have a good beer selection and the bloody Mary was good, too. Fish and chips was very good. The batter was different, with corn flakes and shaved almonds, and I was a little apprehensive to try it, but it was great.

This place is great, I came from Scranton pa for a wedding and looked this place up on yelp because I really wanted a lobster roll. The lobster was fresh and It was huge and delicious . My fiancé got the cod sandwich with corn flakes/almond breading she said it was really good. Good beers and friendly service. Not a lot of seating so going during off hours would be best. My fiancé and I want at 2 pm and it was slow with plenty of seating.

I stopped in here on a trip to Cape Cod. A bit out of the way, but worth the walk. Lots of great beer, and the food was awesome for a Dive Bar. Worth a visit for sure. Also, try some of the unique guest beers they offer in large bottles. They are awesome.

This is a hard one. Love the environment! Loved the calamari and service. My meal the fish tacos were more like fishless tacos. My son's awesome kids meal fish and chips had more seafood than my adult dinner. My wife loved her hot seafood combo. If my dinner was better I would have rated a four star. I will give them a second chance.

How can a dive charge as much for a lobster roll as Neptune? *crane drops plate on table* Oh. The $26 behemoth is massive, with way more than a chick's worth of meat, butter kissed and mayo tossed on a toasted roll meant for foot long hot dogs. Cape Cod chips are unnecessary, unless you're one of those half-bovine/half-human things with multiple stomachs and a really nice hat. What are they called? Cowboys? Just to say you tapped that bucket, order up Johnny's Bloody Mary spiked with house-infused vodka. Heavy on the garlic, sun-dried tomato and poblano peppers, stiffening up a bespoke Bloody mix that's stabbed with a bacon garnish... it's a $9 wonder that's only slightly less than wonderful. I'll have another. And another. Ant anudda. Unh unuffa. Zzzzzz....

I mean it was a dive bar so I wasn't expecting the best meal ever. Wasn't disappointed but it certainly was nothing to brag about. Clam chowder was pretty good, everyone enjoyed that. But as far as entries, nothing was too appealing.

Got off the ferry and wanted one last lobster roll before heading back to NY. Searched around a bit and we were led to Quahog. Now at first glance the price of the lobster roll was startling but thew was no stopping the craving. We ordered the lobster roll and a Cubano. We were in awe of the size of the roll. At least 2 lbs of meat. Perfectly seasoned and nice and cool on a deliciously buttered bun. The Cubano was just as it should be simple , good meat, and tasty. What a great find. I know where week be stopping before and street the boat from now on.

First time here, heard great reviews from locals so I had to try. My mother and I visited Thursday night, Peter was the bartender who was very polite and personable. His beer selection was great, the bacon clam chowder was delicious. One of the best chowders on cape, and I'm a local chowdah snob. The stuff quahog was cooked perfectly. Then we split a cheese pizza which had a great thin crust pizza with even sauce to cheese ratio. The atmosphere was s good dive bar but cleaned up to be family friendly. They also got a ring game hanging on the wall in which can be addicting to play. Bring some friends and enjoy a round after work.

Nice little local bar. The beer selection was outstanding; good selection, cold, and refreshing. Food: not so much unfortunately. I had the chowder and the infamous lobster roll. The chowder was as advertised ... outstanding. The lobster roll (contrary to all the Yelp reviews!) was NOT good. It was huge, but the lobster was all but frozen, didn't taste fresh, and probably came strait from a bag in the fridge; skip this $26 entree. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return.

I keep thinking about the incredible lobster roll, drinks & burger that we had here. Great little spot to visit when you are in Falmouth. Everyone was super friendly & the craft beer selection was better than the other bars in the area.

In Falmouth to pick up a boat, stayed the night and had to visit this place based on the reviews here on yelp. Just got back...Pete was our AWESOM-O bartender-server combo. Friendliest, coolest person...couldn't ask for more. The food: great as the other reviews already state. Ordered the lobster roll: split it with my fiancé...instead of getting one giant roll to cut in half, they pre split it for us, separate plates...each with our own roll, free of charge. Honestly...the half portion would have been worth the price it's an incredible amount of lobster, and ohhhh so good! Cup of chowder: delicious, rich and filling. This is not a dieters chowder, I'd venture to guess its made with heavy whipping cream, therefore, it is glorious. Mussels: delicious broth base..ordered extra bread but was not needed, the portion it comes with was way more than enough Beer selection = epic! Additional info to add to Quahog Republics awesomeness: Super environmentally conscious!: Pete went into what looked like a prep room maybe 15 times during our visit, shutting off the lights each and every time he walked out. All the bar updates and activities were noted at the bar and in the bathrooms on a chalkboard. We also purchased two shirts which were lovingly placed into a recycled brown paper bag. Pete called a cab for us and chatted a bit on our way out. He new the names of almost every person that walked in. Decor was perfect, cape cod dive bar perfection. Music to match, New England meets Bob Marley. This place is a must for anyone that will be near Falmouth, even if only for a short time. If and when I move here I will be back and demand Pete become my best friend....!

You can't go wrong with any dish that serves the local 'Quahog' The Bloody Mary is also divine. I'm extremely satisfied with the food here. The Lobster roll was also the best I've ever had, better than Maine.

I liked them on Facebook about 6 months ago because I knew I wanted to check this place out. They do great advertisement on their FB and post specials and pics often. The location for this place is a little weird. In a strip mall. I thought it would be on the water because of the name and the fact it's in Falmouth. Regardless, there was a great atmosphere inside. The bartender was extremely warm and welcoming. She was also quick and attentive to our needs. We both started out with a Bloody Mary. The bartender asked me the level of spice that we wanted. They were delicious. The vodka is infused with garlic cloves and the actual mix is made with sundries tomatoes and poblano peppers. It's topped with three olives and a crispy crispy slice of bacon. Incredible! You can also order a piece of shrimp to come with it. For food we were just looking for something light and split the quahog and a cup or chowder. Both were very delicious. The quahog was stuffed with linguica, quahogs, stuffing, and other spices. It came with a lemon slice and the drawn butter. It is very filling and there is a lot of stuffing in it..so if you're not a fan don't get that! The chowah was amazing. Tons of chunks of clam and potatoes and made with cream. There is so much flavor in it. I've gotten chowder at a lot or places on the cape that just tastes like cream but this is better on so many more levels! Overall this was a great place with great service. It was pretty happening at 3 on a Saturday so you know it's a good place if try are crowded then!

Visiting Falmouth from NY I'm a serious foodie and I enjoyed every bit of this place. The ambience was great, the decor was spectacular, and the food was absolutely delicious, I wanted to hug and kiss the chef. I love a chef who cooks their meals to perfection, it takes passion and I could tell that chef had loads of it with the way our food was served to us and the way it had a party on my taste buds. Only reason why I won't give it 5 stars is because our waitress could have been a bit more attentive and the drinks and food menu are a bit pricey. Other than that It was well worth it because I enjoyed every bite of my grilled chicken sandwich and basket of fries that was shared between me and my bf for only $3 (best price on the menu) I recommend this place to anyone with extra cash looking for a valuable meal, and a great time.

Fantastic in every way! the best chowder and fish and chips that I have ever had. Pete the waiter and bartender couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Truly a hidden gem off of the main road...dont miss it!

I knew what to expect, from the reviews here, and they were spot on. It's exactly what it looks like. A local dive bar with great food and laid back fun service. Tuesday night, well off season, and the place was pleasantly humming. The drinks came out fast and tasty, and the apps were great. Sweet Potato tater tts were crispy and full of taste. Stuffed Quohogs full of clam and linguica and very nicely spiced. The signature Lobster Rolls, split in two nicely for a very good entree. No messing around with these. Lobster, good and sweet, butter, mayo and a toasted roll. No filling, just flavor. Sure it's in a strip mall. Sure the TVs are going. no, you don't get to see Nantucket Sound off the deck, but the food, drinks and service are spot on. You can get a better view, but you'll have to work hard to get better food.

I am a local, I have been to this restaurant in the past once, it was a good meal and great service. I returned tonight to try the "Monsta" lobster roll, unfortunately it really is not so Monsta, its big but not what I expected. If you want a real Monsta lobster roll for the same price $26, you need to go to the raw bar in NEW SEABURY, not Falmouth. I will return to this restaurant to try some other seafood dishes.

Great for a local establishment. It is a very casual atmosphere. Bar like setting. It kinda of reminded me of a joint. Everyone was very friendly. The food was great. We tried our first Quahog. Great! Lobster roll excellent! Fantastic selection of ice cold beer. However I will say that the menu was a bit sparse with dinner choices. They did have a few choices with the daily special menu. That would be the only thing hold me back from giving them 5 star review. Other then that the place is a great place to go for a bit to eat when in the area. It's worth it!

  • Pat L.

This is my kind of place. The lobster rolls are fantastic, my girlfriend and I split one roll we added the shine but could have done with just the roll. I recommend the roll for those that like a butter grills bun and more lobster than mayonnaise. I love craft beer and to find a place that carries a solid beer selection such as this was a treat considering the location. Try the arrogant bastard.

I love this place. Its far from trendy, off the beaten track and not touristy at all. Its a nice get away from the Falmouth hype. Its so comfortable with amazing seasonal fare and reasonable prices. I almost hate to make others aware of this place, but I guess I shouldn't be selfish.

Note, this is note a 5 star restaurant. The 5 stars is based on the category of Dive Bar. That's what this place is, and it is one of the best! My wife and I were in Falmouth on vacation. I was checking for a place to watch the Patriots game and found this place online, checked reviews and their website, and decided this was a good place to watch the game. We got there just before kickoff. The bartender was also the waitress. The bar has 12 stools. The tables consist of high tops, about 10 of them, with stools on one side, and a long booth style bench on the other. It's a very good use of space and provided a great view of the TVs for the game. The bartender was amazing. She turned over almost every single seat in the place twice before the end of the 3rd quarter. She never missed a beat! It was an impressive performance!!!! My wife had the Buzzards Bay Lemonade and she loved it. I has the Naukabout Ale. It was very good. The draft beer tasted fresh coming through clean tap lines, and served in clean glasses which isn't always the case at dive bars. To eat, I started with a stuffed quahog and it was one of, if not, the best I've every had. My wife had chicken fingers and she loved them. I then had their version of a Cubano sandwich. It was the best sandwich I've ever had in my life, and I've had a lot of sanwiches!!! We will definitely make a point to visit the QR every time we visit Falmouth!!!

A group of us were told we had to go here and we're happy we did. It looks sketchy from the outside, it looks cliche from the inside but the food is awesome, portions are huge and prices are cheap. They also do different rolls each week. Like a chicken pot pie roll (egg roll), steak and cheese, shepherds pie, etc.

We stopped in for a quick dinner before the fireworks and my wife was initially upset that I took her to a "dive bar" for dinner. We were both pleasantly surprised when we figured out it was a scuba themed bar and actually quite nice inside. We both had the fish and chips which was by far the best I've had. The bartender Pete was wicked nice and had great recommendations for locally brewed beers on tap. I had to try their world famous Bloody Mary as well....again, one of the best I've had! We stopped in after the fireworks show and grabbed another drink. Pete immediately recognized us and welcomed us back in. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area!!

I recently relocated here from the West Coast and all ive got to say is........! Great atmosphere, amazing eats n drinks. I highly recommend their egg roll of the day! anything goes from jambalaya, lobster mac-n-cheese, cheese steak and my personal fav the bacon cheese burger its a must have when visiting the quahog republic. Pete the bartender is very down to earth and quick.... Oh yeah! if you like garlic :-) you must try their delish bloody mary with their homemade garlic vodka!

Almost didn't stay but glad we did... this place is hidden away behind the mall in a strip mall. It was full of parents having a few after their kid's dance classes next door. We decided to stay but the limited menu was a little disappointing.. Had: the Stuffed Quahog - good but pricey at $6 The wings - good but had a spice I couldn't place Fish & Chips - crunchy yet light on the batter - yes their are sliced almonds coating it Beers were good. Would I return to eat? - maybe.. Do I wish I had one in my town as a hangout? yes.

Chowder was good but somewhat salty. Corn was nice, but they cut the cob into 4 or 5 pieces and certain areas slightly burnt. Lobster roll too pricey, 26$. Good TV screens for watching games. Good service.

This place is truly a dive bar- it is down a dark street but it is well worth the trip. The owner, Bobby, worked the bar and made me a phenomenal bloody Mary. Also ask for the "mangria" which is his special sangria+margarita combination. We had the: grilled corn on the cob, mussels and lobster roll. All were very good. Lobster roll was huge!

I saw a lot of positive reviews on this place so I thought I would give it a try....I was happy. It's off the main roads of Falmouth, hidden a little bit. The food was excellent, both of us had the chowder, one of the best I have had on the Cape. The Cuban was excellent and they were great with the kids. We were there in the middle of the day but it was August so a busy time of the year for the Cape Cod. Will go back.

Local beer, tasty food, nice people! Had a stuffed quahog it started things of very well and came out super fast! Next the chowder, so good, it had a lot of meat and wasn't too thick! We each had a burger mine was the island burger it had pineapple and a smoky sauce onions and a shrimp ontop (I added a photo) the bartender was really nice and so were the other people siting at the bar. It was a great place to watch the pats game!

So relaxing is the atmosphere with friendly staff that do not rush. I was in heaven with a Cape Cod Red, grilled corn with cheese, and the ginormous lobster roll with a side of fries. It was worth the few extra bucks for a piece of heaven. Open late. Lots of free parking. Please avoid if you are desiring a pretentious atmosphere.

Finally got a chance to swing by this place after hearing about it for so long. I knew the area so I wasn't surprised but if you don't know it's between a nail salon and an evangelical gathering hall behind a k-mart. It's not a bad area, just unconventional for such a great place, but after going it kinda added to it's off-beat charm. I have never had a bloody mary with a piece of bacon in it before but theres a first time for everything! The drink itself isn't very salty and a tad spicy, so the addition of the bacon cools your tongue while adding to the overall flavor. I recommend trying the spicy version. I learned later that you can add a shrimp to the drink, so next time.....double yum! The chowda was very good and loaded with quahog meat and bacon and potatoes. (Chef must have a thing for bacon;) The quahog was fresh with a side of drawn butter and a lemon wedge, essential tools for any quahog endeavor, but lately every one I eat seems too filled with stuffing and little else. Oh well. I saw the hot dog sliders and have made a mental note to order those next time. Our bartender was very friendly and super helpful, she seemed genuinely happy that we were there and she could help us, all around a great place!

When visiting Falmouth from NYC, we come here every chance that we can get. The food far surpasses what you would expect "bar food" to taste like. The chowder is outstanding and we had the scallop nachos that were on special once...AMAZING. No matter what we have ordered it has been great but what also makes this place is the staff. They make you feel so warm and welcome. You feel like you are part of the community vs. an outside visitor. If you are in the area and want a VERY REASONABLE fine meal, check this place out. You will return again and again.

We will always visit here now when we are in Cape Cod. What a hidden gem with some of the best chowder and lobster rolls I have had. They have a great drink selection too and seems like a neat place to hangout with some friends but we just kept getting their amazing food. I will say I was not a fan of their parmessan truffle oil fries - they just seemed like TOO MUCH...but everything else was astounding.

Great service.....good food! When I was in town visiting I asked my friend at 10pm on a Sunday where we could go in Falmouth to get food. Well he tells me this place the Quahog Republic. I have been to the owners previous place on Mashnee Island so I wasn't expecting much for food, but I was pleasantly surprised! I had the corned beef and cabbage egg rolls with this guinness mustard...YUM! And of course I had to try the quahog and chowder. Quahog didnt bump the rank of my fav place but the chowder was up there in the rankings! So needless to say, thanks to the good food and great service, I'll be back again! They could just use a better location as it still smells like the old trade center when you could smoke in it...or Winstons!

Townie bar, very good selection of crafts on tap for a dive bar, very good buffalo wings, and prompt nice people service. Note to tourists: Not off the water, located in a random strip mall with no ambiance, but this is one of the few places you can have a beer in town without feeling you got gouged price wise. Plus, they have funny T-shirts for sale.

Ant anudda. Unh unuffa. Zzzzzz....

The service was snail slow! Burgers way over cooked quahog very small and did taste one quahog all stuffing. Very disappointing

The only good food on the menu is the stuffed quahog... Its definitely not a family restaurant...it's a bar Otherwise there is a terrible atmosphere, and the chairs are crappy.

- maybe.. Do I wish I had one in my town as a hangout? yes.

Clearly the best local hangout in Falmouth for lobster rolls and fish & chips! The lobster is extremely fresh with just a dab of mayo. We think the lobster roll is the best on Cape Cod. They also have great drinks and a good selection of beers on tap.

Great Quahog chowder! Waitress was attentive and friendly. My boyfriend loved his Cuban sandwich and I really enjoyed my tuna steak with seaweed salad. This was a great find! Place was great to go to right after the beach. I didn't feel underdressed at all!
