The Palmer House Inn in Falmouth is a great place to stay! We've been there several times and look forward to the next. The rooms are very comfortable, luxury linens, the location close to the downtown shops and restaurants is superb. The Innkeepers, Bill & Pat, take the time to welcome guests and assist them in finding just the right places to visit. There is so much to see near Falmouth. We always look forward to the Inn's breakfasts each morning to start off a day of Cape Cod adventures. Take the time to check out this lovely B&B.

We don't visit B&Bs often, but when there aren't many good hotel options in the area, we look for the best available B&B. This place fit the bill perfectly. It wasn't kitschy and wasn't strewn with cats. We arrived pretty late, but check-in was smooth and we were greeted by the innkeepers the next morning. Breakfast is from 8 - 9:30, which is great for the early and late-risers, but the dining room has only 6 tables, so a packed inn might make for a little wait. I think it's worth it. Breakfast alternates everyday.. sweet, then savory.. and makes for some really interesting breakfasts. Portions are somewhat small for your typical American breakfast, but since they tasted great, I wasn't complaining. Get the Cape Cod sunrise as your drink.. it's genius. The rooms are pretty cozy and well decorated. Rooms are made each day, and turndown service leaves 2 Lindt chocolate behind. The Oliver Wendell room is probably the smaller of the rooms, but the awkward position of the sink outside of the bathroom disrupted the room's decor. Proximity to common conveniences and local food/shops makes this a great place to stay. You could walk to dinner and shopping, and even rent a bike at the Corner Cycle or walk to the shuttle bus to the Wood's Hole ferry terminal. 4 stars for the best B&B we've stayed in thus far.. great breakfast and really well maintained rooms. 1 off for the stuck door and smallish breakfast portions. We'll be back again for better weather and to finish our tour of the islands.

I have stayed at the Palmer House 4 times over the past 5 years and every year, it exceeds my expectations. Breakfast is served from 8 - 9:30 AM - I am not an early riser so this time accommodates me as well as the early birds. The best drink to order with breakfast is a Cape Cod Sunrise - I can't describe it but it is delicious. Each morning, breakfast is fresh, creatively done, and delicious. I did notice a reviewer wrote the portions were small - I found the portions to be quite large and I couldn't finish my meal on several mornings. It really does depend on the type of food being served however. For people that prefer more of a cold, continental breakfast, there are yogurts, granola, and cereal available. The breakfast is truly amazing, as is the service. I have stayed in a variety of rooms at the Palmer House, both in the main house and the guest house. They are clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. There are many ornate touches and amenities available for guests. The rooms are all named after different poets and authors. Most recently we stayed in the Robert Frost room, which had a whirlpool bath tub - amazing and very relaxing. Our room also had a large fridge which was very convenient. I was also happy to find a book of Robert Frost's poetry in the room! I loved how there was a personalized card welcoming us to the room. In the drawer, there was also a little kit containing a few different types of bottle openers and a flash light. Another nice touch in each room is the guest book, which I found fascinating to flip through and read about other guests who had stayed there. It is these touches that really make a great experience! Each day, in addition to the normal housekeeping service in the morning/noon time, there is another turn down service in early evening where they would leave 2 Ghiradelli chocolate mints for us - a very appreciated touch! The town of Falmouth is beautiful and so much fun - the Palmer House is SO conveniently located, making it easy to walk to town (it's about a quarter mile down the road). It's a great environment and very relaxing. Bill & Pat are wonderful and really make each guest feel at home. I would highly recommend the Palmer House to anyone visiting the Cape Cod area.

The Palmer House Inn in Falmouth is a fantastic little B&B in a great location. It is located just 1 block from the main street of town where all the shops and restaurants are situated (if you are looking for the usual mainstream stores like CVS, Burger King, Blockbuster, you are not going to find it in that little section. Go down half a mile. This is a good thing. I promise). If you are up for a stroll around town, the Inn provides bikes, and the beach is no more than a 20 minute leisurely walk away. The inn also provides nice towels for use at the beach. The staff at Palmer House Inn is very courteous and welcoming. Upon check in, food preferences are taken (for breakfast), they will give you a tour of the property, and some tips for going around town. Typically, at hotels, the whole check-in process seems more of like a business transaction, and that's perfectly fine. This place goes out of their way to make you feel like a welcomed guest - a feeling that you would normally find at high-end resorts that are particular about details. I cannot give a review of the other rooms, as each room is different. My room was The Penthouse, chosen only because I wanted a king-size bed and a whirlpool, and I preferred the aesthetics of it. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised by a hand-written note from the Innkeepers welcoming me to their Inn. Quite a nice, personal touch that just adds to the ambiance of place. Anyone that knows me will tell you that I am super-picky about my beds and linens (I have been spoiled by Westin & W hotels). It is well-known that Starwood Hotels, namely their Westin chain, started the hotel trend of having fantastic beds and linens, and the bed and linens provided by Palmer House are fantastic. 600-thread count sheets and a very comfortable yet firm mattress. It is quite possibly to just immediately fall asleep on that bed. The bathroom features a two-person shower with dual showerheads. A hairdryer is available for use. The layout and design of the bathroom is very clean and somewhat upscale. Towels provided are Turkish bath towels around 600 grams. Seems to be only the best is provided for the guests. A window AC is installed in the room to battle the summer heat. It is quiet compared to most window AC models and does a great job at keeping the room cool. A refrigerator is in the room if you need to keep anything cool. Please take note that if you put it on the highest setting, it can become a freezer. On top of the mini-fridge, there are the coffee and teas plus the coffee-maker if you would like to have them in the room. A few feet in front of the bed, there is a two-person whirlpool. It wasn't just that there was a whirlpool in front of the bed or in the room that made me take note of this. It was the precise details of the electric candles and bath salts provided by the Inn. The candles are not cheap-looking, no-motion candles. These flicker and have real-looking wicks. Also there was a vase filled with fresh-cut flowers for a nice, sweet touch to the whole look. Photos of the room do not do it justice at all. One might worry that it may be too Victorian or flowery (I know I did), but when you see it in person, it really does all come together. Being that this is a B&B, I must note the breakfast included in the stay. One thing that really got my attention was that the Innkeepers, Bill & Pat, actually make the breakfast. They didn't hire a chef or take the easy way out on this, and they could have. Instead, they took the time to prepare their favorite breakfast dishes that give each guest a taste of New England. Breakfast is not just a one-plate event here. Once seated, a staff member will tell the guest what delicious foods will be presented. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate is served first. Then, juice if you would like. A selection of breads, jams, and cereal is on the table at the wall that you can munch on while breakfast is being prepared. Of course, parts of the meal are prepared in advance. It is not feasible to serve 15+ guests in a timely manner if you only have 2 people in the kitchen. However, you would not be able to tell at all that the waffles were previously prepared. Still warm and crisp, they were topped with a strawberry jam and some blueberries and joined with a dollop of freshly made whipped cream. Moist and flavorful turkey sausage patties were a side to give some meat to the meal. From the moment that you check in, to the time you depart, the Palmer House Inn makes sure that each of their guests are well taken care of. I can easily recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Cape Cod. There are a million other details that I could add to this review, but it is better if you experience them yourself and be delightfully surprised.

This review is for a stay I had about two yrs ago. If there are new owners, I apologize for any criticism. I would have given the Palmer house five stars, as my room was comfortable, the innkeepers, pleasant and the breakfast delightful but I took two off stars bc One: they came into my room after I checked in (and left for the evening) to do turn down service, which had I asked for, I wouldn't mind but I didn't expect anyone to be entering after I left. Two: the day I was to check out, I ate breakfast and decided to take a stroll through town before it was time to leave. I returned to the room 45 mins before check out and wanted to lay down before starting my 4 hr car ride home but found that they had already stripped my bed, compiled my few belongings and removed towels. I did not appreciate this at all and it stopped me from ever returning. If check out is at 11, you should have full use of your room until then.

Fantastic stay. My family and I have always found ourselves in Falmouth in the fall and winter when we have stayed at the Palmer House. Those visit were wonderful as well, but this year we came in June to enjoy the Cape in the busy season. As always Bill an Pat were wonderfully accommodating with the children. We stayed in the cottage which has a separate bedroom for the kids, and a private porch and garden. The private accommodations made us feel as though we were not imposing on the rest of the guests with our kids. Although an older building the cottage has been newly spruced up and is very comfortable. The refrigerator was great for keeping our own food and snacks, which we ate at the table in the indoor sitting area or on the porch outside. The breakfasts were delicious and the wait staff was helpful with the children. For my picky eater there was always yogurt, toast, and cereal available. Bill and Pat are great resources as well for everything from where to get the best lobster roll , pint, view, beach, and especially where to take the kids on a rainy day. We will definitely be back to this wonderfully run B&B. Thanks to Bill and Pat

This stay was such a delight! It has all of the charm of a New England B&B, but none of the pitfalls (ie. thin walls). The rooms were thoughtfully decorated and the linens were some of the softest I've ever slept in! (They do sell them in the giftshop). Looking forward to staying here again soon!
