This place couldn't get any better!!!! This comforting atmosphere, the waiters are so attentive, and the food is out of this world. We got the prime 16 oz, veal chop, red wine, eggplant app., & 2 desserts. Food was cooked to perfection!!!!!!!! Eggplant app. could have been a little larger but I was amazed by the food. Definitely worth it!!!! Thank you to my boss for the gift cerificate and always raving about this place - know I know why. AMAZING!!!!! If you haven't been you're missing out!!!!

I Pazzi is exceptional and a true find on the North Shore. The owners and staff are hugely attentive, and then there is the food! I was first there on the night of one of our huge snowstorms in January, but dined before the flakes began to fly. Business was light and we ate at the bar, which enabled us to interact with the owners. We had the pure luck to be there on such an evening because when we asked about something on the menu, we frequently received a sample. This enabled us to try many items that would otherwise have required multiple visits. But no worries there - I will (and have) make multiple visits to i Pazzi. Everything - and I mean everything - from the bread to the salad to the sea bass, the pastas, the desserts - was fresh and delicious. As others have said, the portions are not huge, but you don't want them to be. As a culture, we are over-conditioned to massive amounts of food (which is why the Cheesecake Factory simply disgusts me - waddle up to the trough, America!) when what we need is freshly prepared, delicious opportunities to dine. And here, i Pazzi excels. All pastas are freshly made on site, and the seafood portion of the menu reflects what was available that day from local vendors and fisherpeople (look at me being all PC!) In short? Run, do not walk to i Pazzi. You'll soon be singing its praises to your friends. One note - the restaurant has one of those weird Massachusetts things (sigh) - a cordials license. This means that the alcohol they can serve is delineated by its sugar content. They can only serve alcohol with a minimum level of sugar, and to reach that level, all of the vodkas are flavored, etc. It puts limits on the cocktail opportunities for the evening, but the bartenders are creative, so ask. And the beer and wine selection is adequate. Mangia bene, Vivi felice!

We walked in on a Monday night around 7:30. There were only two other tables that were occupied so we got seated immediately. The bread we got as a starter was delicious. It was even better when she prepared a plate with olive oil and balsamic vinegar PLUS parmesean cheese and red pepper on the side. Great start. It wasn't so fun waiting a good 10 minutes for the server to take our order (as she only had 3 tables to serve, including ours). The food was pretty good. We went straight for the entrees - I got the bucatini and my friend got the linguine alle vongole. The food was flavorful and I enjoyed my dish. But for those interested in getting the bucatini because the menu says that it is cooked with some hot pepper, don't expect any heat from this dish. In general, I'd give 4 stars for the food, but 3 stars for the service. The server didn't check on us after dropping off our food. We even tried to wave her down a few down, but she just didn't look towards our table until we were almost done with our meal. I'd understand if the restaurant were busy, but she just spent most of her time standing around behind the bar. Maybe it was just an off-night for them.

This place belongs in the North End, but thank goodness it's in the little town of Danvers. It is literally the taste of Italy. The plates are cooked to perfection and the ingredients are fresh. My parents threw a private party for my younger brothers confirmation party. It was so much fun. We were able to have a DJ. The glasses were never empty as well as the dance floor.

I was excited by the simple, fresh menu, at first. I ordered a Caesar salad, wasn't offered anchovies, as there weren't any on it, but would have benefited from them. I ordered the special, Branzino, whole fish, $30, and the two waiters (not sure why we had two waiters, we were a table of 2) kept suggesting I have it de-boned at the table. I was pretty confident I could handle a whole fish myself, but I agreed to let the "other" waiter "proudly" debone the fish. I watched in horror, as the guy butchered my beautifully prepared fish. As he flaked apart the top fillet, I suggested he just pull the bone out, leaving the bottom fillet in tact. But no, he continued to break apart my whole fish, with his spoon. I was served a huge pile of sloppy fish, that looked like a two year old had "deboned" it. I could NOT believe what had happened before my eyes. My friend had a steak, cooked perfectly, lucky for him. What a huge disappointment having my fish chopped apart, which still had bones in it, in front of my eyes. Guys, drop the egos or learn how to debone the fish, while leaving it in tact. Completely ruined my experience here.

I have had 3 or 4 meals here, and it has never failed to impress with its food. Service is a little strange, e.g. one waitress and 3 busgirls on a busy Saturday night. This latest visit included swordfish (super tender), pancetta pasta (straw pasta was super fun), and beef ravioli (I love any pasta filled with meat). I also love their arugula salad with strawberries. I really cannot rave more about the food here, and even though it is expensive, the portions (and quality) do present a good value.

I love the food here. I am a vegetarian so it can be difficult to order at some places. Not here! I have had the Puttanesca and then last time they made up a vegan dish that was delicious. The pasta is made by them so it is incredibly delicious. It is a great place for a special occasion because of the ambiance, but it has a nice homey atmosphere as well.

While the food is outstanding, the service negates the dining experience. The bottle of wine we ordered came after the food was served. The sea bass, while succulent, was so hot that it burned my mouth. After I flagged down my waitress, the dessert menu was 10% food and 90% after-dinner drinks. All I wanted was something sweet after dinner - but no such luck. Until the owners make the service match the food, I can't justify the price.

DELICIOUS!!! A hidden gem, and a new favorite! A variety of delicious homemade pastas, cheeses, sauces, breads; & very fresh, organic ingredients make up their delicious dishes. EGGPLANT TIMBALLO was a small tower of thinly sliced small Italian eggplants, baked with fresh, diced homemade mozzarella cheese and basil, over tomato sauce coulis. --Not exactly what we expected from the menu description. But the GNOCCHI AL POMODORO homemade potato dumpling, sautéed with fresh tomato sauce, Parmesan cheese and fresh basil, also available with a Gorgonzola cheese sauce was awesome. First of all, the gnocchi were THE BEST we've had in a very looong time--very smooth & light!! The Gorgonzola cheese sauce was perfect, not overpowered by the cheese. PAPPARDELLE AL RAGU DI CINGHIALE was fresh homemade pappardelle pasta sautéed with wild boar meat sauce and Parmesan cheese. The delicious homemade pappardelle noodles were thick, w/the rich, savory meat sauce clinging perfectly to them!! So many mouthwatering items on the menu & specials we want to try!! Everything that we saw being served was beautifully presented, especially the desserts which we did not have room to try this time. Very cozy, romantic ambiance w/fire place in center & full bar in back. Service was a little slow, but w/all the food made to order & how busy it gets, gladly was worth the wait. We suggest reservations. To b contd...

I have driven by this restaurant numerous time and not wanted to go mostly based on the childish graphics on the sign. Figured it must be a "kid friendly" American Italian restaurant. Boy was I surprised! This is a genuine Italian restaurant. I had pappardelle with cinghale (something I have not seen anywhere except Italy) and it was excellent. One of my tablemates had the sea bass and it was very clean and fresh tasting. One of our group commented that on her last visit they ordered the calamari and it was a whole squid. For me that is exciting news, but I guess if you are a fan of big-plate-cheese-laden-Italian that would be a scary serving. Can't wait to go back next week!

What a great little italian resturant.. I have been to italy a few time and trust me this is as close to authentic as it gets. The pasta is homemade the meats and cheeses are so fresh and the desserts are amazing. The service is a little slow but what do you expect from a mama and papa ran resturant litteraly!!! I love this place cant wait to return.

Not a bad experience, and the ambiance with the gas fireplace is nice (don't sit next to it, though -- too warm), but I won't return. It was VERY loud: lots of people in a small, hard-surfaced space. A couple other distractions: the sparkling water was lukewarm, and served without ice; the pasta was bland and overdone, and we were not offered pepper or Parmesan cheese for it; the scallops and salmon were OK (a bit overdone) but not great; and we were charged for an extra bottle of water on the bill. Neither of us took our leftovers home. The bill was $99 (including tip) for two entrees, two salads, one glass of wine and one dessert. For the price, I expected more.

Joe V. was correct in his review that the food at I Pazzi is not cheap and the portions are not huge, but I definitely did not leave here hungry (in fact I was so full that I slipped into a carb induced coma by 10:30 on a Friday night). However I did wish I had leftovers for the next day. The bread basket was great with the combination of oil, balsamic, Parmesan and red pepper flakes. We tried a shrimp appetizer (only 1 shrimp) that was stuffed with prosciutto and cheese, wrapped in some kind of dough and fried, and served in a red pepper sauce. It was delicious, but while the shrimp was large, there should have been at least two for the price. I had the penne matraciana which was delicious and smoky with tons of pancetta. Mom had the puttanesca with delicious olives and capers. She thought her pasta was a bit too thinly coated with sauce, but it had a nice flavor. We both wished our dishes had a bit more spice and homemade pasta would have been a nice touch. Chocolate mousse was nothing special, didnt even have the texture of mousse - more like cake. However I did enjoy the food here and will be back.

We stumbled across this place by accident and are SO glad that we did. This place was amazing. From the moment I walked in the staff made me feel comfortable. The menu was small but wonderful choices for app's and entrees. Got 3 courses and loved every bit. The owner came out and talked to us- super super nice. Staff was great and looked happy to be there and loved their job. Cannot wait to go back.. thank you!

For years I passed this place thinking it was just another Podunk restaurant; boy was I wrong! Forget what you read, this is Boston North Shore's best. A small venue (so make reservations for Friday or Saturday night) with a professional and attentive staff. Chef/Owner, Tani prepares everything himself with meticulous skill associated with top notch restaurants and he's quite a pleasant fellow so make sure to say hi. From the appetizers and daily specials to the standard entrees all the way through to the heavenly gelato, it is all ever so tasty and superbly presented providing a top dining experience. Caution though, skip lunch and be prepared to eat as everything is taste worthy. You won't want to miss anything.

A coworker told me that this was the best Italian restaurant she had ever eaten at. In retrospect I should have asked her what other Italian restaurants she had been to. I will start with a disclaimer, when I review restaurants there is a positive correlation between the standards I hold them to and the prices they are asking. The prices here are on par with some restaurants in Boston, so I will hold I Pazzi to such a standard. I review is broken down into 3 parts: environment, service, and lastly but most importantly food & drink. Environment: I Pazzi is located in downtown Danvers, and from the outside does not give the impression of anything special. I will admit that the sign had been the biggest deterrent for me when I lived in Danvers and drove past it countless times. It isn't the most professional or eye-pleasing design around which wouldn't normally pose a problem, but the windows are tinted, making the sign all a passer-by has to go on until they use Yelp or are referred by friends, family, or coworkers. The interior décor is much better overall. They attempted to create an intimate and romantic restaurant and in doing so they succeeded. There is some rustic brick work on the walls which flows very nicely with the wall coloring and other artwork throughout the restaurant. There is a fireplace in the center, which I can only assume when lit just adds to the ambiance. Our table was right next to the fireplace though, which if lit could have been too hot. I did not experience this, I am just speculating. Service: My girlfriend and I were seated at our table, given menus and a wine list as well as bread and dipping oil. One thing I liked was that they gave one small plates of dipping oil for each of us. There is nothing worse than having to reach for the dipping oil, making a mess in the process. After receiving the bread, we were left alone for about 15-20 minutes. Our menus were closed and on the table as two teenage girls, who we thought were servers, looked in our direction and just kept on walking. It turns out they bus the tables or something like that. Their service system seemed quite confusing. So confusing in fact that finally when an adult "server" was standing by our table, and I asked if there was someone who could take our order, she looked perplexed and said that she could. When she returned with our drinks she told us there was some confusion amongst the wait staff over who was responsible for our table. While I appreciate her honesty, it did not breathe confidence into my already suspecting opinions of the communication going on in the establishment. From that point forward she was great. She knew the menu well enough to discuss the dishes and make recommendations, which is something I would expect from a higher-priced restaurant. Food & Drink: We both started with the sangria. It was by far the strongest sangria either of us has ever had. This was not an issue for me, but my girlfriend felt that it took away from the drink's overall taste. For an appetizer we shared the grilled calamari. Be warned that this is not what most Americans will think of when they think of calamari. It is more or less a calamari "steak" not small rings. It is tough to chew, which can be problematic for some. I enjoyed it very much but my girlfriend could not get past the texture. For our entrees she ordered a pasta dish that included Pomodoro sauce, which she did not care for very much. I ordered one of the specials, which was pasta with venison. It looked like a ground venison stroganoff with Enoki mushrooms (the small ones that come in bunches). It was an average dish at best. I am guessing the fat content was fairly high because it felt like deadweight in my stomach. One thing that they do right is making their own pasta. You can honestly tell the difference in taste and texture. We took a chocolate mousse home for dessert because we felt to full to eat it there. Unfortunately the alcohol that they used in this dessert was unbearably overpowering. I can't cook worth a damn, but baking is something I do right and I'm of the belief that the alcohol used in desserts shouldn't take center stage. It is mainly a flavor enhancer, not the main source of flavor.

I have been to this restaurant a few times now and think it is time for me to write a review! This is delicious Italian food done right - I was told by our waiter that the owner makes some of his own pasta and his own mozzarella - his wife makes the gorgeous and tasty desserts! So, I would recommend this to anyone who likes very good Italian food.

Date night this past Friday brought my husband and I to this comfy restaurant. The staff was very attentive and our waiter could have sold me a new car as well. Maybe he's an actor/ waiter, he gets 5 stars. The atmosphere was great for a quiet night out, the crackling fire contributed to the coziness. Unfortunately the food did not leave me feeling fuzzy and warm. The food seemed fresh and visually appealing, but lacked much flavor except for the overwelming taste of salt.

Wow the food here is amazing! Everything I've tried so far was delicious. Just flip a coin and see where it lands on the menu if u can't decide what to get, everything is good. They had this tripe special once that was delicious, the best tripe dish I've ever had. I'm used to Chinese stye tripe, but this was different and way better. The wait staff here is awesome. So attentive and friendly... Can't get better service anywhere. The owner is very very nice. Once he was out of lasagna and he made me this special dish that's not on the menu: veal and beef tortellini (?) with crunchy sage and pistachios... Wow, it was delicious!! And he kept bring us bread and pastries that he made for Easter. Not to mention they were closed... all the waiters left but he let us in and served our food himself. What a guy! Also try the vanilla tea... It's the best. So much to say about this place. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants of all time.

I had dinner last night with 3 couples and it was the most unpleasant experience. We were seated at 7:30 and didn't receive our drink order until a hour later. The dinner rolls brought to the table were burnt. The waitress although pleasant was terrible in providing service. The appetizers did not arrive at the same time, nor did the entrees. We did not finish dinner and dessert until 10:30. The food was average. I will never return.

What a pleasant surprise! 6 of us had dinner at this restaurant @ 50 Maple St., Danvers and each of us was pleased! That's not easy with a group this size. The restaurant is small and intimate. The owners, husband & wife work their tails off. Everything is made from scratch before your eyes. The Arugula salad was beautiful as well as delicious with strawberries, hearts of palm and other goodies. The Caesar was equally good and huge. Mussels were another delicious appetizer. The serving of Prosciutto w/melon is huge! All Apps are large enough for sharing. This was just the beginning! Our entrees were delicious! We ordered, Sea Bass, Lamb Chops, Swordfish, Osso Buco, Pastas with some very different sauces. All were superb!! As were the desserts which we shared. This is a find! I will return and with a larger appetite! Contessa

We've gotten take-out twice. We had big orders of different dishes and it was excellent both times. Everything tasted very fresh...not the aftertaste of preservatives you get at so many Italian restaurants now. I loved the gnocchi the best....just wished the portion was a little bigger! The people seem very nice and eager to provide great service.

My wife and I go a lot, as it is one of our favorite places to eat. Everything is made to order and the food is generally fantastic. The management is very conscientious and they do value your business. The wine list is very good, as are the specials. Occasionally, the consistency wavers, but 9/10 times we have been there, it is top notch all the way.

I've been to I Pazzi many times, and have never been disappointed. The ingredients are top quality, I've never tasted any so fresh and clean. The appetizers are simple and delicious, the entrees are incredible, and the desserts are out of this world. Between me and my friends, we've tried everything on the menu, and each time it has been the best version of that food we've ever had. The owner and his wife (chef and pastry chef) always come out to see how we're enjoying our food, and I've never gone wrong with their recommendations.

    (5)
  • Cynthia S.

first time did not disappoint! service crisp & impeccable. menu choices and wine list excellent. food (beef ravioli and chicken pecadillo) so fresh, creative & crafted with passion. no room for dessert but cappuccino was exquisite finish. kudos to waiter Ryan. We'll be back for another special occasion!

  • Joseph P.

I Pazzi is consistently sublime. Many have said it is as good as the North End but I think it is better. The home made garganelli pasta with duck, mushrooms and black truffles is ambrosia and better than any dish I have had in the North End. Their fish and meat dishes are also very impressive. And don't forget the desserts that are made in-house. No restaurant is always perfect but I Pazzi is consistently exceptional. Even it's portion size make it a relatively good value in an unassuming Danver's Square location. Buon appetito!

I went to this restaurant for the first time! Its a small cozy place and the food was good and reasonable. It needs a bigger bar area and I wasn't fond of the fact that my back was towards the door. The staff was nice and the bartender was fantastic. There did seem to be a lot of tension from the owners to their employees which made the setting a little uncomfy! Will I go back? Yes but only if the same bartender was there. He was great!

My husband took me to I Pazzi for Valentine's day and I am STILL thinking about the amazing swordfish dinner. I had never heard of this place until a couple weeks ago and I can't wait to go back! Our waitress was fantastic - really exceptional service. I would absolutly recommend this place to anyone looking for a finer dining experience. Two thumbs UP!

Great place , excellent food fantastic service. This place is a definate gem. The presentation is excellent. Tried 3 appts- the calamari stood out -delicious . Everyone loved their dishes from the made to order risotto( wasn't on the menu that day but graciously offered to make it - no problem!! who does that any more), to the homemade ravioli, the fish, gnocchi & chicken.... all of us really enjoyed the food. The service was outstanding! They were helpful, friendly right there when we needed and then some. Great place - all eight of us will be back!!!

YUM, YUM and delicious! Find out which pastas are homemade and you won't be disappointed! We have been here over 20 times and can honestly say we have never had a bad dish. Extensive and well thought out wine list. The service is good. Tonny's wife is a waitress on the weekends but we see her during week when it is busy. Ana makes ALL of the desserts in house---ask for the 1,000 Layer Cake if you are not a huge fan of chocolate but love vanilla! : ) I Pazzi is our home away from home!!!

Fabulous time. We had a post Communion family dinner here. Everything was wonderful. The clam and mussel appetizer was excellent with plenty of broth for bread dipping - as we Italians love to indulge! The atmosphere was cozy with very hospitable service. Everyone raved about their meals, which included veal chop, rabbit, salmon, chicken and variety of pastas! This is not your 'typical' Italian restaurant - not a meatball or a parmesan on the menu, but there is a great variety of pastas including gnocchi and raviolis and plenty of delicious non pasta options.

This place is amazing. We met friends and drove all the way from Newton. It was 100% worth the drive! The food was authentic and fresh and the service was fabulous. The prices are reasonable- generous portion sizes. I only wish it were closer!

A Hidden Jewel in Danvers....went for our anniversary dinner last evening...power outage, but we got great service and had drinks while waiting for it to return..ordered an eggplant appetizer which was recommended by our waitress...wonderful!! Both had pasta dishes which were light, nicely seasoned and SOO good. all their pastas are home made..one of the best things was the restaurant offers full OR half portions, which is a big plus...we can't eat those huge portions many restaurants serve ..dessert was recommended - tiramasu - I usually don't care for this, but it was very good...prices very reasonable.. service was fabulous.....would HIGHLY recommend..and we can be fussy!!!!

I went here with my family and it was delicious! The service was great! The owner came over to us after we finished eating to ask if we enjoyed our food which is rare now a days.. They lived in Italy :) The atmosphere is classy, but not too dressy.

OMG!!! This is authentic, without a doubt!!! When it comes to Italian food it's kind of tough to impress me, but they did it. The food was fresh, with generous portions, top notch quality, and our server "Clint" was fantastic!!! Our meal may sound gluttonous, but there were so many things on the menu I wanted to try i just said what the hell and I'm glad I did... For starters, The wife had an eye catching Caprese which was more than enough for an app to be split, I had the Carpaccio which was classically prepared with Arugula, capers and lemon, and a roasted fig special stuffed with Gorgonzola and wrapped with Prosciutto, (unreal!!! must try if available) Next she had the Gnocchi which were light and airy not the typical little lead weights that could put you on the couch after a meal.. I had the PAPPARDELLE AL RAGU DI CINGHIALE, WOW!!! dont find wild boar around often so I had to try, I'm so glad I did. We ended the meal splitting a creme brule, Dyn-O-Mite again... for drinks we had 2 glasses of a wine, a bottle of sparkling water and a espresso, the bill be for tip was under $100. A great value in my book!!! If your sick of the lasagna and meatball Italian joints, this should be first on your list, don't pass it up!!!

My girlfriend and I had a great experience here. Although carpaccio is on the website they no longer offer it which was a bummer. We shared a caprese salad that was delicious. The fresh bread was good and served with a little dish with options of balsamic vinegar and olive oil, Parmesan cheese, and red chili flakes. I enjoyed homemade ravioli and a few bites of my friend's dish which was beef and ricotta. The waitstaff was lovely and attentive. It is pricey but the meal was excellent.

The homemade ravioli's was good, ground beef in a brown butter sauce with pistachios. Very generous amount of ravioli's. Found it interesting our server offered to refill bread for another table but not to us. We normally would have ordered an appetizer, but nothing appealed to me. We had ordered (4) sodas, which were not even that fixxy or large and were amazed to see $10 charge on out bill, $2.50 for each soda. If you are going to charge for soda at least get a high end bottled soda to servce. I am always amazed to see servers pretensious about working in a restaurant, seriously. It was also very odd at the end of dinner how she did little speech about owner opening a gelato place and gave to each us of us a business card, how classless and tacky. I will not return or recommend.

My father is a big fan of this place, so he took me here during a visit. Overall, the food is fantastic. The eggplant tower appetizer was delicious, and I adored the scallop dish I got. Their freshly made pasta is simply fantastic. I am docking a star because the service was very slow, and at times, very rude. One of the waitresses grabbed a dish out of our hands while we were talking, and when we tried to make conversation when she returned, it was clear she was just looking over our heads and not interested. Also, PASS on the caprese salad. I have had many a caprese salad and this one was sub par.

Surprise...walk in Friday night restaurant with excellent food. We had clams and mussels appetizer and the grilled calamari salad to start. The calamari was huge and delicious and could have been a meal in itself, I had a rigatoni dish with zucchini and other veggies. Nice thick pasta and the veggies were not too mushy in the tomato sauce. My partner had the rigatoni Bolognese with boar. Though he is a bit skittish to try new food, he loved his meal. The service was terrific and bread good. The owners have opened a new gelato store and kept the dessert menu very limited to that. It was good, but what if you don't like gelato? Great neighborhood spot. We will go back.

Consistently average to poor wait service the three times we have been. Highlight: could not believe it when my friend ordered a different wine and the waiter, a creepy bearded guy, unceremoniously dumped it in the same glass that was still 1/4 full; bumping my friend (without apology) in the process!! The chef seems very phony and likely not italian either. Not worth the prices they charge. We're not going back.

As good as the first visit! Good news. The ambiance was better. They've turned down the light!!! Also, my fish (Chilean sea bass) was to die for, although pricy (32-35... Can't remember). I also think they need to come up with a better side. There's a reason people are leaving over half of it on the plate. Again... Good pasta. Fig appetizer was good, but a tad pricey at $12 for 2 figs (cheese and prosciutto).

Beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. Entrees are very thick, you will be filled up. Seems to be a popular spot since many of the items we attempted to order were sold out. A little pricey but provides a romantic environment. It is dressy attire, make sure to prepare accordingly. Gelato is amazing!

I can't believe I have never reviewed them for Yelp. This is one of our favorite places to go ANYWHERE! This is an extraordinarily GREAT restaurant, I am forever thankful of my friend who first brought me there for lunch, many years and many meals ago! Everything is exquisite; the owners, their children, the wait staff (especially Sanir!) the atmosphere and the FOOD! Fresh, creative, delicious, always too many delicious choices! We have our favorites that we could eat every night, but there's always something new to try, too! Definitely a place to taste everyone's! And, the gelato...I even missed it when I was indulging in Italy! I need more stars to help you understand how great this restaurant is!

Excellent service, delicious decadent entrées and wonderful atmosphere. Also excellent wine list! We will definitely be back, thanks so much!

I am a huge fan of this restaurant. Interesting and well executed menu. Creative drinks and thoughtful wine list. Many healthy, flavorful organic and interesting entrees. The caprese salad is sublime. Attentive and proactive service. The sign outside makes it looks like a pizza joint- this combined with it being in Danvers - might lead you to believe it's a lower end place. Not at all. This restaurant could compete anywhere. Highly recommended.

Delicious. We started our evening at a different restaurant in the area and walked out due to the poor service, etc. We were so happy with our meal at I Pazzi. The restaurant was clean, well-attended with friendly staff and the food was delicious.

Our second visit here was every bit as wonderful as the first! The food, service and atmosphere are off the charts. I never eat bread and last night I could have eaten a loaf, it's that good. I need to find out if they make it there. I had the duck ravioli and was just amazing. My husband had the bucatini matriciana and loved taht. I highly recommend!

We used to love going to iPazzi but slowly but surely the things we wanted were no longer offered... No more carpaccio, no more Amish Chicken and we went through three different requests from the wine list before we found a bottle they had.

Spectacular. Best Italian on north shore. Owners know how to run a restaurant and work it. Love this place. Food is five stars.

Had high hopes for this place since it's down the street from our house, but was extremely disappointed. The service was absolutely terrible, for the price we paid I felt like I'd get better service at McDonald's. We got seated in the worst table, and got ignored because of all the bigger parties. The age limit to this place is 60+ so if you're younger don't bother!!! You'll get looked at like your poor. The waitress didn't speak English very well, didn't explain anything in the menu, she took 20 min to bring our drinks, my husband got his second beer AFTER he was done eating when he ordered it before we got our meal!! We ordered calamari for an app and it was absolutely disgusting, it was grilled but the rubbery texture was something my dog wouldn't even eat. Will never go back, or recommend to anyone. What a shame since we are locals.

My family and I were in town for the weekend and stumbled on I Pazzi. We loved it! The food was amazing and the service excellent. We were in a rush and our servers were very accommodating of our time constraints. I would highly recommend to this restaurant, not to mention they had the best Ciopino that I've ever had....yum!

This restaurant is mine and my wife's go to place when we want a fantastic meal. This is one of the best restaurants on the north shore by far! You won't be disappointed with portion size or quality....skip the trip on to Boston and give ipazzi a shot.

The food is excellent, the atmosphere a little different for downtown Danvers. I really recommend this place for the food though.

Having lived on the North Shore for almost my entire life, I like to think I have a good knowledge of which are the best restaurants around. However, I was wrong! I had no idea this place existed, even though I've driven by it dozens of times. My father and I decided to check it out last night for dinner. As many of the reviews state, the restaurant is small and cozy, and can certainly compete with some of the best restaurants in the North End. There is a small granite bar and a full cocktail menu. The wine list is extensive and features some great offerings. Many of the items on the menu are served in half and full portion size, which I really like in that it allows you to try more things. I had the grilled calamari appetizer with a bed of arugula and a pappardelle/bolognese pasta with wild boar. My father tried the pomodoro salad and the lamb. All were well put together, with delicate finishing touches. Although a bit pricier than most restaurants around, it certainly is a great place to try for a date night or special occasion. I can't wait to go back soon!

Worst customer service. My boyfriend and I went here on Valentine's day. We live in the area and had a reservation made a month in advance. We were sat promptly and our order was taken and served in a timely manner. Our server never came and refilled our waters and I had to approach her to ask for another glass of wine. The food was decent and we were enjoying the night since we haven't gone out in awhile. After we paid, I still had a half of glass of wine left and was shocked when our server asked us if we could leave because there were other people waiting for our table. This is not okay to me. I understand that it was Valentine's day however, as a customer I do not appreciate when a server asks us to leave because other people are waiting. We had only been there for 45 minutes. We are always looking for new places to eat in the north shore area and due to this incident we will not be returning or be recommending this restaurant to our friends in the area especially if the restaurant is having a busy night.

I have been dining at I Pazzi for over 4 years now and I can honestly say that it is just as amazing as it was when I first visited this cozy little restaurant in Danvers. My boyfriend and I love this place more than I can say on here- I would give it 11 stars if I could! The waitstaff is vigilant , knowledgable, and hospitable. The chef truly cares about the meals that he creates and often walks around to make sure patrons are enjoying their food. I have never had a mediocre meal at I Pazzi, never mind a bad one. I would definitely pay attention to the specials menu, as they have often have really amazing things on there. My boyfriend and I have had scallops that were to die for, perfect tuna carpaccio, impeccably cooked bison topped with black truffles, heavenly venison ... I could go on & on. The standard menu is great and, as far as I'm concerned, you can never go wrong with the gnocchi al pomodoro or the lamb. On our most recent visit, our phenomenal waiter informed us that they recently began making their own gelato in house. There were 5 flavors to choose from that night: tiramisu, pistachio, vanilla, chocolate, and hazelnut. We chose to have 2 scoops of tiramisu and 1 scoop of chocolate to share (the scoops are golfball sized). When I tell you that this was the BEST ice cream/gelato/dessert I have ever tasted, I swear I am not lying! It was so great that we ordered 3 more scoops to try the remainder of the flavors. You can even get gelato to go! I don't know what kind of miracles they are performing in the kitchen at I Pazzi, but I LOVE this place.

Went to I Pazzi for the first time last week and my fiance and I loved the food. Everything we had was so delicious. The menu was pretty pricey but the food was worth it. Great place for a date night since it's so small and cozy. My only note is that the kid's drawing as the logo and the wall decor is very misleading, makes you think you're going to a more casual place. I was surprised to find white tablecloths once I walked in. Still - great place, highly recommended.

Went there with my wife Saturday night with no reservation but they were able to accommodate us at the bar. It appeared that many regulars do the same since the bartender greeted everyone next to us by name. This did not keep bartender from starting conversations with us and taking very good care of us. I had a rack of lamb and the wife had a raviolis. Both meals were amazing. We will definitely be going back.

This is an overrated, over priced restaurant. We had the clam and mussel app which was recommended by the waiter. It was over cooked, chewy & sandy in a tomato soup broth. We sent it back and it was not taken off the bill and we were not offered another choice. For our main courses we had the chillean sea bass and beef fillet which were both good (not great) but the side pairing was off and took away from the dish. The quality does not equal the hefty boston prices in downtown Danvers. We gave it 1 star for the ambiance, would not go back.

This is one of the best restaurants that I have had the pleasure of visiting. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is friendly and attentive. The owner makes a point to visit each table to serve, ask how things are going, and to make recommendations. She is truly involved and takes pride in her establishment. And now, the food. Amazingly fresh, expertly prepared, and delicious. We ordered the stuffed figs as a starter, and they were absolutely magnificent. High quality Procuitto and Gorgonzola transformed these aromatic figs into a plate fit for the most elegant of dinners. For the entree, tender and succulent long bone in rib eye was served with roasted potatoes and asparagus. The meat was perfectly cooked to a juicy medium rare. Presentation was top notch - served in a copper skillet. I Pazzi marries fresh food, artful presentation, and masterful execution to create a dining experience that is truly unforgettable.

Came here for a team dinner while visiting Gloucester on a business trip. The place had a very cute vibe. It's small and the staff is very attentive. They specialize in italian with a meaty twist - they serve exotic animals for their entrees like basin, rabbit, and etc. I don't know about the animals, but I ended up ordering a sea bass entree inwhich I thought was prepared/presented very well. It was very good. Would have packed my leftovers if I lived in town. Definitely a good place to have dinner and order the sea bass if you want something light and good to eat.

My husband recently surprised me with a birthday dinner at IPazzi with 10 of our closest friends (all fantastic cooks). All agreed that the menu was amazing, service impeccable, ambiance warm and friendly. Each course was better than the last. This is simply the best restaurant on the North Shore, and I cannot imagine a better way to celebrate! We chose IPazzi because it is hands-down our favorite. Tani and Anna, thank you for everything. Perfecto! Cannot wait to come back!

My husband and I wanted to try something new (and Italian) tonight. We both come from an Italian family and have high expectations for a pasta dish. I Pazzi did not disappoint. From the atmosphere, our great waiter Justin and the rest of the staff, to the food- happy all around. We started with the fig app, which was a special tonight, and it was delish! Then for entrees - I had the Cheese Ravioli and my husband had the new (and special) Risotto. My apologies for not remembering the exact names. We both shared and loved both dishes. For dessert we shared the Pistachio Gelato. Out of this world. Perfect ending to our evening. I highly recommend this desert with a Sambuca sidecar. We are so glad we sporadically decided to venture out of our comfort zone. We will be back.

I had high hopes for this restaurant based entirely on my high expectations of places at this price point. Unfortunately a few details prevent me from saying this place lived up to what I expected. Overall I'd call it a solid, suburban restaurant that *I wish* had finer details addressed. ----Good things---- -Walking in on a Saturday night at 8:45 and seated immediately. (next to the gas fire place!) -Our greeting was warm and our servers were very amenable to our style of ordering as we go and sharing everything - including glasses of wine. -We KNOW the chef cared - he watched us eat - waiting on any indication of our satisfaction. -Family owned atmosphere. Everyone was laid back and it wasn't a stuffy environment at all. -By the glass wine selections were better than average! ----"meh" things---- -Our server - while nice and clearly knowledgeable about the dishes we asked about - didn't posses the same level of knowledge about the wine list. When asked about certain by the glass selections he gave very generalized answers. (as if he was trying to give answers but didn't really have them) -The food....it all sounded amazing but overall each of the 4 dishes two of us shared were just kind of ordinary. Nothing jumped off the fork in terms of flavor or depth. ----Not cool things---- -During our 2.5 hours there more than half of the vacated tables remained un-bussed. Food and dirty linens were left on them. Servers were not slammed. It just isn't a priority there to bus tables immediately. Most probably don't care about this. I found it distracting. -The carpet was littered with food scraps as if a party had just vacated and the cleaning hadn't occurred yet. Again, for $22-30 plates I'd like to see a carpet sans food scraps. My dining partner said he thought the place was good for 'the burbs' but I had higher expectation regarding the smaller details. I'd totally go again - - with reset expectations :)

Although the service was slow, we were happy chatting while we waited for each course and the food was worth the wait. Be aware, however, that the online menu needs updating as some dishes have been removed (sadly, the risotto) and others added.

I had very high hope for this place. I have had several close friends and family "approve" this place before I elected to try it. Our party of six was celebrating a birthday. Reservations were made a week in advance for a Monday evening. Clearly not needed as the restaurant only had about 5 tables seated. Immediately upon entering I knew this was going to be a nightmare. I noticed only 2 servers. One was the bartender. We arrived about 15 minutes early, and ironically that is the amount of time it took for us to get acknowledged while at the bar. We had to hunt down one of the servers to be seated as we were waiting at the bar...with no drink either. I wouldn't expect a restaurant to be busy on a Monday night either, so two servers for the small place would seem appropriate given the two of them were any good at their jobs. Both seemed lost and slow and only attended to the diners that were already seated. After a half hour I finally got my first glass of wine, as did the others at the table. About another 20 minutes or so the bread came out. The server didn't even ask if we wanted appetizers at this point. Shortly after flagging him down and asking if we could order appetizers he mentioned that our server would take our order. It has been almost an hour and I don't know who our server was. Finally she comes over and we end up having to order everything at once as she asked if we knew what we wanted for dinner. Because of the way the night had been progressing, we inclined to order all at once. I ended up ordering the stuffed figs which were actually very well prepared and very tasty as well. Flavor and consistency were perfect. Highlight of the night. Next came my Caesar salad. The dressing was nice enough, but it was overly dressed, and the shaved Parmesan was oily. No croutons for any substance either. Not impressed. For dinner I ordered the swordfish. It was a nice portion, but it was fatty and bland. Still it was fresh. Same could not be said for the vegetables that the cook had prepared ahead of time and were basically mush. I saw the cook keep a pan full of the prepared veggies on top of the fridge in the small kitchen and just scooped some out whenever he needed to add to the plates. God know my veggies were there for over an hour on top of the fridge before they made it to my plate. Him being the only cook staff back there I could understand his strategy, but not for what we paid! Dessert I ordered a tiramisu. Dry. Not much flavor. Meh. The highlight of the night was the cook. That's right. THE cook. No one was back there helping him, which would account for all what the meal lacked. To give him credit, he made good dishes being all alone, but for the price this place charged, it should have been great. He should have had help. He did manage to get all 6 dishes out at the same time, and we each ordered a different item, so he obviously knows what he was doing. I don't expect to be back as the service was just too bad. In fact, in all my years of eating out I can't remember ever getting to the point of leaving due to the lack of attention. The servers were nice, however it would have been nice to actually see them and interact with them except for seeing them only during ordering and paying the bill.

We finally made it over to I Pazzi, which has taken over the location where Lucciano's used to be. We loved Lucciano's and were saddened when we found out it closed, but I'm very pleased to report that I Pazzi is every bit as good, if not even better. I Pazzi is upscale Italian Mediterranean dining, so it's not cheap and you won't get mammoth portions as you would at a Cheesecake Factory, just to be clear. If you're the kind of person that likes to go out to eat with the expectation of bringing home two meals worth of leftovers, this place will not be for you. After we were seated, our waitress brought out some warm bread and then prepared for each of us table side individual servings of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, grated Parmesan cheese, and crushed red pepper for dipping the bread. That was a nice touch and it was very, very good. I try to refrain from eating the bread that is served, but I had a difficult time restraining myself. Since we devoured the bread, we passed on the appetizers and went straight for entrees. I ordered a Ciopinno seafood soup to go with my entree of Ahi Tuna Alla Mostarda (Ahi Tuna steak sliced over a bed of arugula lettuce and topped with a reduction of tarragon, shallots, Dijon mustard, and white wine sauce). The sushi-grade tuna was seared and served rare (my request, but I'm guessing it would have been served that way anyway, but I didn't want to take any chances). The Ciopinno had shrimp, clams, mussels, and calamari in a flavorful tomato based broth. I loved both. They were perfectly seasoned, letting the flavors of the fresh ingredients shine. The food was not super salty as you'd get at the chain restaurants. (Thank goodness.) My wife and my son both ordered specials not on the regular menu, with the wife getting a Chilean Sea Bass dish and the son getting a Grilled Rack of Lamb Chop dish. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly medium-rare as requested, served with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I don't remember exactly what sauce was served with the lamb, but it matched really well with the lamb. The Chilean Sea Bass was served with a medley of clams, mussels, shrimp, and asparagus. After getting a little taste of each of their dishes, I definitely would order those in the future. We were stuffed come time for dessert, but next time we'll have to make a more conscious effort to hold back on the bread to leave some room. The manager told us that all the desserts are handmade, including chocolate mousse, flan, and tiramisu. We desperately wanted to try something but we were genuinely too full. We were very pleased with our first visit to I Pazzi and are looking forward to a return visit. My mourning period over losing Lucciano's is now officially over.

food was pretty good. Service was horrible. Not very friendly, didn't make us feel welcome, never introduced himself(I think he was the owner). We waited 30 minutes in this half filled restaurant before our waiter(owner) took our drink order. I started with a small house salad which was very good but tiny. I then had the the Sea Bass which was cooked just right, very tasty and served very hot, but it was a very small portion and came with a tablespoonful of vegetables that's it. Luckily my wife is a light eater and shared some of her scallops/pasta or I would have left hungry.Very loud inside and very over priced. Won't be rushing back.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
