We are always pretty pleased when we drop in here for breakfast or brunch. The breakfast sandwiches are on the smaller side but they are very flavorful and also pretty cheap, so either you can get two of them or save room for their pastries. The muffin donuts or donut muffins are very good with coffee. The pumpkin muffin was good but tasted more like a crumb cake or shoo fly pie than pumpkin or pumpkin spices. My wife got an iced chai which she said was not very good but everything else we've had there has been really good.

The place is awesome and all the other reviews say it already. It is a HIDDEN place, I literally worked directly across the street at a dealership here for 4 years in high school and college and never new it existed! Part of that is me being driven by pizza and going to the walden shop almost every day for lunch, part of it was me being young and blind to the fresh baked good around me. The food is very good, the sandwiches do not rotate so the seemingly get a bit old. However, they are very good so that helps out (I would recommend the turkey, bacon, and gouda on your choice of bread). Nashoba BB is of course a bakery, and their baked goods are delicious from the bread to the sugary treats. You can also grab a variety of cafe refreshments. The inside is cozy and nicely decorated and their are plentiful outdoor seats for you to grab if the weather permits with a view of the river. We have been here a handful of times and enjoy it each time.

If it wasn't for my out of town friends, I would have never found this hidden gem. Set back from the road and in a very industrial area, this place can be hard to find and very easy to miss. But once you find it its the best kept secret in town/in the area. Fresh breads, sandwiches, pastries and assortment of coffee its hard to pick one thing to eat/drink. On a nice day, do try to get a seat outside in the back where there is a stream and a few picnic tables to share. This place has become my new favorite local coffee shop. Skip your Starbucks/DD and grab anything from here. Its fantastic!

Awesome sandwiches. Excellent bread. Friendly service. A ham, Swiss mustard lettuce mayo and tomato on white bread turns out to be a delectable combination. Fresh fluffy bread with a hearty crust, a decent pile of ham. Sharp cheese. Good helping of mustard and mayo. Grab a bag of chips. The fruit tart is sweet custard topped with fresh plum berries. Coffee, soda, an outdoor deck and seating area.

I can't believe that I have been living so close to this absolutely gem of a bakery and cafe for over three years and never knew about it! Fining this place the other day made my week, thanks YELPERS :) First of all the location: very charming walk across a bridge over a lovely little stream with fish and wildlife to a small area withy picnic tables and flowers with nice peaceful view of forest and sounds of the babbling brook. The Cafe: Really nice people, both staff and customers, comfy seats and lots of light. Great place to chill inside or out. Drinks: Great coffee, cappuccino done right, and all your usual and some interesting iced beverages. Food: Ok, this is where they really take the cake ;) They are a cafe attached to a commercial bakery and so the bread and baked goods are really phenomenal. They have a breakfast scone with prosciutto and scallions that really elevates the usual egg, sausage, and cheese to something scrumptious. They do many other different breakfast sandwich options that leverage their excellent brioches etc. Breakfast items are usually served tiil noon I believe, Then for lunch they do incredible sandwiches again making the most of their fantastic breads (which they also sell by the loaf). I am particularly partial to their baguette which is not the usually soft crust affair that you find in most places that really has very little in common with a french baguette but this one has that crunchy outside and soft inside and is not the size of an NFL player's forearm! They have a sandwich with prosciutto di parma, mozzarella, and basil that I get on their heavenly baguette that alone is worth visiting for. They have many more options or you can make your own and have it in pretty much any bread you can think of. I haven't tried the sweet baked good yet, other than a delectable kitchen sink cookie, but the look devilishly delish too. They stop serving sandwiches at 3:30. Everything is fresh, really tasty, and served with a smile in such a charming but tucked away location! Love this place :)

You will never find this place unless someone has raved about it or you've stumbled upon it here on yelp! This little cafe by the brook is adorable. The sandwiches are delicious and well made with a variety of options for meat eaters, vegetarians and the like. I was a happy camper enjoying my grilled veggie/hummus and Gouda cheese sandwich while my boyfriend had the curry chicken salad on sourdough! Will definitely be coming back here!

I came in with a friend for breakfast. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese. I was not expecting a whole meal including potatoes and fruit on the side. The bacon, egg and cheese itself was good but it was open faced and definitely a fairly small portion. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The iced coffee was nothing special and it was pretty hard to actually find the restaurant itself as it's through a nondescript door in the back of a parking lot, but besides that I have no complaints. All of the lunch sandwiches look awesome. I'll definitely be back to try one of those!

With 84 preceding yelp reviews before mine and a four stars average, I was surprised to discover that Nashoba Brook Bakery is actually a bit of a hidden spot. As we drove down Commonwealth Avenue in Concord, my GPS claimed that we had already passed our destination. What? I didn't see it! I drove into the parking lot by the gas station where Comm Ave curved, and spotted a green awning peeking out from a red brick commercial looking building. We hesitated - could that really be it??? My sister reviewed some of the Yelp reviews and discovered Bill P.'s comment about parking at a lot off of Winthrop Street. We decided to give that a go. At the end of Winthrop Street with its No Parking signs on either side, were two parking lots. We headed on through the larger lot to the right that seemed to belong to a medical center and came to a walking bridge marked with a sign stating that it was for the tenants, customers, and visitors of 152 Commonwealth Ave. only. Bingo! Another sign stated that parking on this side of the bridge was for 152 Comm Ave and 56 Winthrop St only. Perfect! We fit that description! We walked over what turned out to be the namesake of the bakery, by several picnic tables, and found the front entrance to the bakery. As we had come for lunch, we bypassed the sweet for the savory and eyed the sandwich board. We opted for a #11 - Grilled Veggies, hummus, & smoked gouda on whole wheat $7.50, the really tall Spinach Feta Pie $6.50 we had spotted in the savory case, and a mini quiche $6.50. The sandwich arrived room temperature while the other two items were warmed to order and came with sliced bread and a bit of citrus. The latter two were both pretty good. The sandwich, however, left something to be desired. Didn't help that we tend to prefer our sandwiches warm. At the self-serve counter we helped ourselves to the pitcher of tap water, the toaster, and butter pats. Our accompanying sliced bread once toasted and slathered with butter was absolutely terrific! 3.5 stars.

This place is full of delicious goodies, breads, sandwiches, drinks, etc. Hard to find but once you know about it you'll be back. Not a ton of seating but that is hard to change. Very accommodating and able to answer questions about ingredients and sub out one for another if needed. Been here a few times, always crowded!

We frequent this establishment often. Weekend brunch can get crowded (especially during the chilly months when outdoor seating isn't available). Go early during peak times if you don't want to wait for indoor seating. Everything is delicious. Some of our favorites include both varieties of chicken salad (traditional and curry), delicious cookies, and ever-changing array of seasonal coffee beverages. Location is a bit hidden, park in the lot adjacent to the gas station (E&S Mobile Services). Metered street parking is also available, but can prove difficult to find during weekends.

How can you not like eating a sandwich at the same place your bread is made. Great fresh ingredients. Great coffee and delicious baked goods to finish with. It can get crazy in here and the clientele sometimes can be quite rude about personal space. My biggest complaint is for the people working on their Mac Book Pros at 11:30 on a Saturday, nursing a coffee. Dude, if you can afford a Mac Book Pro you can afford your own wifi. Love the somewhat hidden location. Parking sucks, so we park across the river and walk over the bridge. My favorite breakfast item is the sausage egg and cheese on brioche. It come with home fries and fruit. For lunch I always get the mozzarella and prosciutto. Try out the prosciutto scone, its amazing!

The most delicious bread and sandwiches. I have been going here for years and highly recommend the #3! Right in West Concord - nice outdoor seating. Great iced coffee as well!

disclaimer: i have not been to the bakery. i have, however, sampled their breads distributed through wilson farms. and let me say that they are fabulous. i am currently making my way through a chewy, yeasty crunchy toasted piece of sourdough bread doing double-duty as a carrier for a spoonful of nutella. the nutella is almost overkill for the sourdough in that it does overtake some of the sourdough elements, but there is that residual yeasty crunchy chewy sour taste that follows, and that is awesome. best bread bakery i've had in the boston area to date! my tastebuds are very happy.

This review is for sit in breakfast. We went for breakfast. 3 times I went back because the coffee was COLD. Every time I went back it came back just as cold extraordinarily!!!!! Finally just poured it down the drain. The sandwiches were greasy. You have to help yourself and collect your own food it is not a sit down service, however they charge like it is. Overpriced, and the coffee was poor/very cold I ordered a latte however and it was good. The staff are friendly however

Nashoba Brook Bakery is a great find, although finding it may take slight effort. The sandwiches are delicious and of course made on wonderful fresh bread. They also make some pastries. The staff is very nice, and the inside of the bakery is cozy and inviting. I look forward to coming here again.

I swear this place couldn't possibly be more out of the way if it tried. I'm awfully glad I found it though. Small, quaint, and damn good bread and sandwiches. The menu, filled with an array of different sandwich combinations, can be overwhelming, but I've found out that you largely can't go wrong. The sandwiches end up being quite pricy, as does the rest of the menu. The bread and sandwiches are good though, so I suppose that can be forgiven. Be sure to venture out the back and explore; it is simply gorgeous inside and out. There's a little meandering stream outside that's remarkably pretty, and ample picnic tables if the tiny coffee tables inside have filled up. Seriously, go visit this place, in spite of how out of the way it is. You won't be disappointed.

Five stars for their take home half loaf of bread. I LOVE BREAD. They make the best and are available at local retailers like Whole Foods, and Wilson Farms. Great to purchase there. The bread has a great texture, not too firm, and last 3-5 days in peak form. After that, its the toaster or grilled cheese for me, and again, the bread's ability to hold form with taste and texture is the best in the city. Love it for fresh sandwiches and all when family and guest are doing a "football Sunday" type picnic. The store is good, four stars. Good egg sandwiches (five stars ), great service, good coffee (four stars) and I liked the blueberry muffin appetizer (four stars ).

Great bread. Parking is difficult. Impossible to park in the private lot off Commonwealth. Only option is lot off Winthrop St. They do not make this clear.

I was in Concord, MA for an entire week for training and a meeting. This was our source of caffeine. Hard to really talk about the service, cause we had a running tab here, so they had to treat us well. lol Drinks were alright, but pastries oh my. They had quite the assortment and a decent assortment of bread too. This might be a hidden gem of sorts, but it always seemed to be packed even though it's located in this industrial building in the back of a parking lot alleyway with no signage. I wonder how they got the word out.

Best bakery for bread in the area, truly excellent. Pastries and espresso are also very good. Breakfast options are more limited than a traditional sit down place but I've enjoyed them. I had lunch there only once and found it a bit expensive. I love bringing my two young boys here on weekend mornings and sitting outside by the brook. This is a working bakery (not a restaurant) that excels in making bread but also serves sandwiches and baked goods.

  • Kevin S.

Goes without saying the breads are fantastic! What's a really nice surprise is the sandwiches and the quality of ingredients. Have now tried 3 different types and having a hard time choosing a favorite. Ok...tuna, no chicken salad...hmmm. You need to choose yourself.

The bread, food, & coffee are still totally excellent, & I won't stop going here, but this is something that has really gotten on my nerves lately. The past three or more times I've had a sandwich from here, I've called ahead with my order because I knew I wouldn't have time to stand & wait in what would certainly be a long, long line at lunchtime. I am sometimes told it will be "10 to 15 minutes"; sometimes I am not given a timeframe. Every single time, when I arrive 20 minutes later, my order hasn't even made it into production in the kitchen. On top of the 20 minutes that passed between my call & my arrival, I may have spent 5-10 additional minutes waiting to pay. But all of that time is wasted because my order either didn't even get sent to the kitchen, or they are just now "working on it." So that's another 10 minutes or so. ...Remember when I said I didn't have time for this? The point of calling ahead is to have the food ready when I get there, not so I can wait in line to pay & THEN WAIT SOME MORE for my food. What, then, is the point of offering a phone order? One does not go to an establishment after calling ahead for a take-out order, pay, & then wait for the food to be prepared. Nope, that food should be ready & waiting. Come on.

Amazing sandwiches! Me: cheddar, apple, Antigua and honey mustard +turkey. Hubby: curry chicken salad with roasted grapes. Note: this restaurant is hard to find. It is behind a gas station. Just follow the fence along the river and you will get to a patio and the door! Don't be scared off by the location, the interior and staff are pleasant!

  • Edward S.

Stay away from Nashoba bakery if you can. There are better places to get sandwiches in the area. The prices are too high for what you get, even considering location. Overpriced muffins, drinks, sandwiches, everything. The food is average, nothing to write home about. They do make their own bread, which gets them a few extra points, but it tastes just like any store-bought bread. The service is what really ruins this place. It's staffed by a bunch of mid-20's people that seem to care more about having conversations with each other than about customer service. Skip this place and go somewhere else if you can. There are plenty of other great sandwich places in Concord and West Concord that should be getting your business before this place.

  • Kate F.

Bread is great and widely available. No need to go to the bakery. The bakery is sub par. Very little seating so be sure to plan it as take out. I had the #6 with prosciutto and aoli and cheese. It should just be called aoli in bread. Literally aoli dripping every where. My husband had a very good veggies sandwich. I bought two of the flourless chocolate cake pastrIes. They were overwhelmed with the Orange of Grand Marnier- an important fact that was left out of the name and/or description. Did I tell you that I hate orange ? Obviously I would have selected something else had I known.

I've been a patron of Nashoba for years and years, since high school at least and that probably 15 years now. The quality is always consistent and excellent for everything they make. I've gotten every sandwich on the board, tried every bread, most of the pastries and other numerous items like quiche, salads and even some of the made to order breakfast items. Everything is great and I'm very rarely disappointed. I've also ordered some of their holiday offerings and those are equally good. One of my favorites is the Waffle Bar on the weekends and my kids LOVE it and I can plop them down at the tiny kid table in the back and they can go nuts while I sip some coffee and get a piece of quiche. One of the nice touches about Nashoba is when you order something like quiche or strata, you get a few slices or orange AND a nice slice of bread. It's a whole balanced breakfast and ends up being a great deal price-wise. I always pickup a loaf of bread ... Some of my favorite combos to make at home are Verrill Farm heirloom tomatoes on 7 grain toast with mayo and Maledon sea salt. TO DIE FOR. Another is tuna or chicken salad on harvest toast with honey mustard. If its tuna, I add bread and butter pickles. Mmmm ... I think I need to jump in the car and make a trip. Tip: park in the back and walk over the bridge, check their website for exact directions. The kids will love the adventure. And I'm not sure what those other complainers are yelping so poorly about. I've been a patron for years and I've never gotten a skimpy sandwich or cold food item. And I think prices are reasonable for the quality - scratch made bread, boars head meats, great produce, so I'm not complaining.

The sandwiches are all great. Either eat in or take out; its all good and the fresh baked breads are great to take home. I love my croissants and theirs are excellent; not the dry tasteless ones found so many places. The staff changes a bit but they are always cheerful and courteous. .

Very difficult to find and not clear where to park. Bought two loaves of bread: a French and a Sourdough. Not even close to the Hungry Ghost Bakery in Northampton. I like a chewy crust but I practically had to use a chainsaw to cut through them.

This place. Wow. The coffee is ridiculously amazing, but better than that.... The sandwiches! I literally had the best sandwich I've ever eaten here. The bread was so tasty! It's hard to find the entrance to this place, but worth the effort!!

Great bread- great sandwiches- great service considering they are always busy. I love supporting the local purveyor- more than that, I love supporting an outstanding product every time!

  • John G.

Another local spot that is really excellent. The sandwiches are really great and the deserts look like artwork. Service is pretty good but not overly friendly depending on who you get waiting on you. And the people who bring out your food often can't speak English, so you have to wait for a cashier to come over and read your name. Nashoba Brook, or "the Bakery" as it is usually referred to in our office, is definitely a regular place for me, not as much for lunch because it is a little pricy, but for coffee.

  • Nan A.

Still lovin this place. My favorite lunch and wifi cafe in the area. The quiche is like no other, very smooth and fluffy like a souffle. There is always a vibrant collection of people in here weekends as well as weekdays.

Sandwiches were only fair. I had the turkey, avocado and tomato on sourdough. Although they were of high quality, I was disappointed in the amount of ingredients used. (Two slices of avocado, two slices of bacon, two slices of tomato.) My husband made his own sandwich, and they left out one of the three ingredients he asked for. Drink selection was very poor and very overpriced. We were charged $3 for two 8 oz diet Cokes. I had a lemon shortbread cookie, and the flavor seemed to only be in the frosting, not the cookie itself. Husband got a chocolate chip, which was excellent.

Vegetarians: try the apple, arugula, cheddar, and honey mustard sandwich. (It usually comes with harvest bread, but I opted for sourdough). The bread was crusty and fresh (You can watch the bakers in action!). The white cheddar was sharp, the honey mustard thick and spicy, and the sweet-salty flavors worked well together. I had no idea eating that much arugula could be so pleasurable. At lunch last Friday, the bakery was packed and noisy. But head out the back door for a more serene (even romantic) meal. There are plenty of picnic tables by the brook. The bakery is sort of hard to find, as it sits off the main road, in an old warehouse behind a gas station. But it's SO worth the trip.

  • David K.

Nothing special. Pastries are competent but lack bold flavor. Consider the apple and peach coffee cakes. They are lamely flavored and slightly soggy. Good brownies though the way I like: light weight but intense chocolate flavor batter baked to at least medium. Like many establishments they appear to be in a rut and never change their menu at all. Even mediocre food I would enjoy more if they at least would rotate their selections and offer new things. Pretty setting on a babbling brook in Concord. Hang out with a coffee, pastry, and an internet device.

  • Carol G.

NBB is awesome. Sandwiches are out of this world - try the chicken curry, or the apple, cheddar and arugula. The bread is amazing. I don't have a huge sweet tooth, so I can't comment on the pastries. Parking can be a challenge, but completely worth it.

We always like to look for a nice sandwich place on our travels. When we head out to Concord, we normally stop into Main Streets Market and Cafe. Great place but we wanted to see what else is in the area. Found Nashoba on a Yelp search. Glad we did. Great sandwich and soup (Chicken Noodle...Lentil was the other one but I like meat!). I had a nice roast beef sandwich on 7 grain with roasted red peppers, carmalized onions, romaine and horseradish mayo. Wife had a veggie sandwich on rye, mayo, cukes, tomatoes, swiss, romaine. They will make your sandwich as you wish.... Hard to find. A car place in front. Park on Commonwealth Ave....walk a bit...not too bad. Great Atmosphere...Friendly service. SO MANY places you've never heard about around NE!

Nashoba Brook Bakery is an unexpectedly nice spot to enjoy lunch if you happen to be in the vicinity of West Concord. The specialty sandwich menu is extensive (though not expensive), with interesting choices that made me curious enough to want to come back again. I had the sundried tomato & olive tapenade with soft goat cheese, baby spinach, and fresh tomato on olive bread. The olive bread alone was a feast for the eyes, and the flavors were as good as I could have hoped for. I also had an ample-sized double cappuccino served in a proper sort of cup. I sat outside at one of the picnic tables and enjoyed the beautiful Fall foliage. It's nothing fancy; it's just a good sandwich shop with interesting choices and excellent bread. I have no complaints. Other selections that sound interesting (but that I have not yet tried) were the curried chicken salad with pecans, red grapes, and cilantro on sourdough. Or the harvest chicken salad with dried cranberries, apricots, and walnuts on french. Or the sweet pea guacamole, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and mesculin on seven grain. You get the idea: lots of reasons to go back and try their varied and interesting sandwich choices. I've attached a few photographs for you to see what it looks like. Enjoy! /Jim

i looked expectantly at my socks as i moved my ham and cheese croissant breakfast sandwich for roughly 7 dollars toward my hungry-hole, watching for them to blow off. i took a bite, but my socks were not blown off. not at all. they remained smelly, and in place. 18 dollars for 2 breakfast sandwiches and an orange juice? okay, but mayhaps next time you could include some "wow"? other than, "wow, that was a very unexceptional 18 dollar breakfast with the teensiest sides of home fries and fruit i've ever seen." and the chocolate croissant i bought because i was still hungry, putting breakfast for two at 20 dollars... twas nothing special. i'd say to try somewhere else... ::stares into woods:: ...but there's nothing else around. don't bother with the breakfast sandwiches. i'd stick with the pastries, but don't worry about them socks. they won't be blown off.

They bake breads, some pastries, and they make some great cookies. The sandwich was very good. I'm sure the soup's good. They're very good at what they do. It's not cheap though. The bakery is tucked away on the far side of a parking lot. It's easy to miss. There's some nice outdoor seating.

Unless you were told where it is...it would be very hard to find this place. We stopped there for a late lunch. Had the prosciutto/mozzerella sandwich and my 8 yr old girl had the grilled cheese on french bread. We loved the sandwiches. And for dessert we had a little cup cake. We took a small walk across the bridge, how lovely.

OMG that bread is crusty. If you get the #6 (Prosciutto & Mozzarella) or any other sandwich that comes on Ficelle, get it on a different bread. Fair warning, you will need jaw surgery after eating this sandwich.

Overrated. The place is packed in winter. Not enough seating, dirty... I don't understand what's the big fuss about the breads - most I've tried are tasteless. Recently I had some extra chewy one that caused my tooth crown to fall off. Thanks a lot.... No more lunch for me here.

I went here again yesterday. I appreciated that the owner responded to my last review and I accept that the chicken was white meat - perhaps I was wrong! Anyway, yesterday, for lunch, the place was very cold. I didnt have a heavy coat on and was freezing through lunch. I ordered a sandwich off th specialty sandwich board. There are no prices marked on the board. I also got a simply orange OJ. the price was 10.35!!! The sandwich came with a picke slice. Wow. I didn't know I have ventured into Manhattan through some sort of worm hole. I think 10.35 for a sandwich and an oj is highway robbery for Acton. And the sandwich was good but not great. I want to like this place but I am not going back. Well maybe if they lowered the price to 7.35 for the same meal and agree to put the heater on.

Love their sandwiches, love their bread. A little overpriced. (Especially the bread). Their number 3 sandwich is great: smoked turkey, wasabi aioli, shredded carrots and avacado on sourdough. Their quiches weren't that great. Some of the younger kids are a little negligent. I would strongly recommend they get either a soda fountain or better beverage choices because the ones they have are pretty boring or strange. Great location, sitting area, in and outdoors near the bridge.

I love Nashoba, I go every weekend for a drink, currant scone, and a loaf of fresh bread. Yes, the bread is sold in groceries stores, but buying it from the bakery is cheaper, fresher, and lasts even longer. I buy a loaf, pop it in the fridge, and it lasts for WEEKS. Amazing. Their soups are great, especially the buffalo chicken soup, which I've only seen once, PLEASE bring this soup back on a weekly basis! They also offer a bread and coffee card-- after 10 punches, you get one free! I had to subtract one star since my lattes have been burned a few times and service can be a little slow if crowded. Also, their scones are super moist, they also have a tasty bacon scone!!

The sandwiches here keep getting better and better, can get kinda crowded around lunch time and on a cold day there is usually no spots to sit inside but still totally worth it. The Roasted Veggie, Gouda, and hummus sandwich is a new fav.

We just moved to West Concord and this is the first place we went. The selection of breads and pastries is outstanding. Breakfast was delicious and quick. The service was friendly. I got a to-go cup with breakfast and we ate at the restaurant. When I asked about a refill to-go they told me it was on the house, even though the refills are for the people who dine in. The view overlooking the brook is very nice. I am looking forward to my future breakfasts at Nashoba Brook

    I. Love. Their. Sandwiches. I can't decide whether I'm happy I don't live in Concord (so I can't get fat here) or sad that I don't live in Concord (so I can't get fat here). The coffee at this place also makes me quite happy. The baked goods are hit or miss... a couple years ago someone bought me a (large) carrot cake from this place and I ended up leaving about 75% of it to go stale in the fridge. It just wasn't very good. The other day, I got a cupcake with my meal and it was okay... the cake part was kind of dry. The frosting was more buttery than it was sweet. It could have been a supermarket pack cupcake. So in summary, their bread is just amazing and I could eat their sandwich and sandwich related items ALL DAY. They also do salads and quiches and fruit things that are all good. I would give them 5 stars if it wasn't for their sweet failures. They serve many more things than I have tried, so maybe I've just had bad luck...

SUCH a beautiful spot to dine if you sit outside...falling leaves, a brook, a cute bridge... I had the baked french toast which wasn't good at all (like a larger, slimey bread pudding), but the coffee was good.

Been here a few times now, and for some reason had neglected to send it some love via YELP. The location is one that will throw off most people visiting for the first time as you enter in through an old brick mill building. Not only that, the building is practically hidden behind a few others. Once inside, the interior helps pull a full spin into a different environment. Local art pieces, a book swap, and a rash of local praises from publications adorn the walls at the entrance. During a lunch-rush, the otherwise tranquil atmosphere becomes that of a bustling, in-n-out sandwich shop. There is usually ample seating, bonus on the back porch, on-the-river seating, which scores points with the computer toting, 2 cups of coffee crowd. A bold sandwich list, separated by meat, and non-meat options, all served on their monstrously delicious breads of a wide variety. A few by-the-day soups to compliment. Cases offering salads, and baked treats. You can score any of the other add-ons including chips, and pickles. Go in and be prepared to have to dodge a couple of forward-focused lunch-rushers, perhaps a few sprinting young'ins, and saddle up to one of these well thought out sandwiches with a friend or two.

I love Nashoba and stop in regularly on weekends for a sandwich or a loaf of bread. They have some fantastic vegetarian-friendly sandwiches, including one with sweet pea guacamole. I also enjoy watching the bakers loading up the ovens, a fun way to pass a few minutes.

We were disappointed by this place. From the reviews, we were really excited to try the sandwiches -- they stop making them at 3 on the dot, so don't ask at 3:04 if they'll make one -- but the experience was less than pleasant. The entire cafe area was really unkempt, to the point that it was kind of distracting [napkins on the floor, previous guests' half-finished iced coffee cups on the counters near the tables, etc], and the service wasn't much to write home about. The quiche I had [second choice after a sandwich] was pretty good, but not worth the sandwich-centric trip out to West Concord. The staff working behind the counters [high-school aged, I'd guess] were obviously trying to be helpful and efficient in an after-school-job kind of way, but I think that tidying up the customer areas didn't make it onto their to-do list... to be fair, it doesn't look like the other customers were really paying attention to the self-bus policy. **Edited to reflect the nice email I received from the management regarding my review -- I appreciate the fact that they take the time to read reviews and follow up with customers to improve the cafe. If I'm back in West Concord, I'll stop in to check out the fresh-baked goods and write an update.

I've eaten lunch at Nashoba Bakery dozens of times and it has always been great. The pie is the best deal in the pastry department.

Had coffees and pastries for brunch. Will go back for something more imaginative. Hard finding parking. Staff was helpful. In warmer weather, it would be fun to eat on the outside porch. Worth trying, this place!

Driving through town on a mini vacation, we stopped here for a quick bite to eat. Cute, quaint, and just what we needed! A bit random walking from the parking lot to a little-marked back-entrance, but not too bad. We collectively tried: minestrone soup - tasty and warm on a cold day - sun-dried tomato & goat cheese on olive bread sandwich - mmm.... - and a turkey with carrots on sourdough - a very good turkey sandwich. All decent sized and ~$7. Good-looking loaves of bread too. Bread was fresh and flavourful. Everything else that we didn't have room for or time for looked great - cookies, quiches, beautifully decorated full cakes - if we didn't live in San Diego, we'd definitely be back!

This is the most important piece of information in this review: Nashoba Brook Bakery stops making sandwiches at 2:30. This is what I wish yelp had told me. My friends and I got there at 3:00 and were told that they were no longer making sandwiches. We stifled our disappointment and got a decent array of salads and quiches, and went out onto the porch to enjoy the view. The food was okay - my quiche was super-cheesy - but we all enjoyed the orange and grapefruit slices that came with our meals. I hope to return and try their delicious-looking sandwiches, but until then, I will have to leave this review unfinished.

Was disappointed with this place. Love the bread, but the location leaves a lot to be desired, and the help was as slow as I have ever seen. At one point there were 10 people at the counter while the waitress took five minutes to make one latte. And when one of the bakers walked out of the kitchen to use the bathroom he spit his chew in a cup right in front of us. Hopefully he washed his hands, but I have doubts. Will still buy the bread at the store, but I'm done with the bakery.

Like everyone, finding it the first time is the hardest part as it's in an old light industrial building & there's no signs from the street. Basically if you see the gas station on the corner, park in the adjoining lot over (based on signs there's a lot of warnings against parking in the gas station lot), and walk towards the large square brick building to the right (looking at the station) of the gas station ... you'll see the sign to NBB soon enough. Scones, Scones and More Scones I'm a big fan of NBB, and while their artisinal breads are good, I really think that their scones are some of the best I've ever tasted. Light, flaky and buttery, with the right addition of ingredients. Their Cranberry Orange is the best, but I also like the savory Prosciutto and Cracked Black Pepper ... sounds bad, but trust me, if you like savory scones, these are excellent. I do wish that they'd throw some other flavors into the mix from time to time .. their Chocolate Chip Scones aren't that impressive, with their Currant Scone ranking better.

Went on a day most people stay inside (snowing out), so amazingly, it was a Saturday, and not crowded. There were plenty of cozy tables. And it didn't take long to get our sandwiches. The pastries are so pretty, and there are windows into the bakery, where you can see bakers making the bread. What I like most about this place is that the loaves of take home bread behind the counter seem to sell for a little bit cheaper than the same nashoba bakery loaves at the farm stores and grocery stores. When I look at the price tag at a grocery, I almost always pick another bread brand, but here, the whole loaf price feels "easier" to pay for, and fresher.

The bread in the Strata was very tender! Good solid healthy (?) food. A little pricey, otherwise 5 stars. The bread is great.

Excellent brunches available on weekends, deliciious sandwiches and the desserts are fantastic. They have some outdoor seating in the back by the river which is really nice in good weather. It can be quite busy at times, especially weekend brunches, but it's only because everyone loves to go there.

whenever i eat here, i think i've died and gone to heaven because this place make the best sandwiches in the world. period, hands down. i LOVE their apple, gouda sandwhich. it's crunchy, spicy and sweet all at one. also, there desserts are great. if you're in the area, its worth making a stop at this place (if you can find it). the only con of this place is the location. it can be hard to find, but it's definitely worth it!

I'll be honest. I've bitten down on bread with finer chew than here. It's a good hearty loaf, but not quite the rustic refinement compared to the best. It's very, well, shall we say, eastern hippie. But let's not demote it by any star, we are talking about minute differences in sophistication regarding batch mixes, perhaps flour choices, and well, the million factors about baking that I don't really know about. My father used to say the difference between a person with low intelligence and one with high intelligence is just a few DNA. Who am I to judge? It's just my opinion. It's the view, it's all about the view. Walk into to this truly hidden, ugh, *gem*, in what seems to be a leftover parking lot in West Concord, and you are suddenly transported to a magical place. If you can remember the first time as a kid walking into an aquarium, it's like that. You couldn't imagine this scenery before you saw it. Picture Window New England Quaint? Not really. In winter, with snow and ice, I get a little soundtrack in my head. tinyurl.com/5hthat I admit, the song is sappy, but this place makes me happy enough to share that.

Nothing beats the smell of fresh-baked bread -- am I right?!? I hit up the GPS for food suggestions while in Concord on an errand today and lo and behold there was this bakery 1.1 miles away. Seen it on grocery shelves and wanted to get it hot off the presses. This bakery slash cafe definitely is a hidden gem because the green awning doesn't have any good lettering on it -- but just believe you're there when you hit that gas station and you'll be rewarded. Walk in, don't get skeeved out that it looks like an empty place, go down the ramp and voila: there's a whole cafe bustling with people and treats and wifi. The boy and I each got 2 specialty sandwiches to go at $7 each (mine: turkey, avocado, bacon, tomato on sourdough) a little smaller than I had hoped but still filling. Plus I picked up some homemade strawberry jam, a big chocolate chip cookie (really good) and a whole wheat sourdough loaf, which sounded like an interesting combo. I was so hungry that I snacked on a slice in the passenger seat on the way home. Verdict -- satisfying but I think I like plain sourdough more. Next time I'll ignore trying to make nutritionally sound decisions! Hit this up if you're in the area and if you're not in a rush apparently there's a nice brook for scenery to complete the whole experience.

I discovered this place when I was working in Maynard a couple years back. It was difficult to find and I can't say I expected much looking at it from the outside, after traversing a parking lot to find it tucked in the back. But, open the door, smell the fresh baked bread, and nothing else matters. Everything I've had here, from sandwiches to desserts, has been downright amazing. So much so that even now, living nowhere near Concord, I make the drive for the sole purpose of visiting this fine cafe. It's worth the drive every time.

I'm a newcomer to Nashoba, but have been impressed by my first few visits. I haven't had any of their baked goods, but they look delicious. I've had their sandwiches and they're fantastic. It's such a nice change to have a local deli preparing quality sandwiches compared to the chains (Subway, D'Angelos) or the greasy local pizza shops. Their bread is fresh and is always crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the in side. I love the "build your own" option so I can select the sandwich toppings myself. I've only had their tuna salad and chicken salad on baguette and sourdough, but they have many other options I'd like to try as well. They place is always packed at lunch time, but you can call ahead and place your order for pick-up. If I had to say one negative thing, sometimes their sandwiches are so packed with meat and toppings, that it becomes messy and lettuce and tomatoes are falling out everywhere, so have a fork handy!

The thing that hasn't been mentioned yet about this place is their Weekend Waffle Bar. Genius! Honestly, there's a dearth of places to go to have breakfast near here. You can't get a traditional breakfast, but they have stratas and quiches, and other yummies. Their bread is great. Yup, it's chewy, but I love Iggy's bread, and this follows the same line. Real bread, not bunny bread. My only complaint is unfortunately the surly customers. Gosh, you are eating great food; cheer up, Doggonit! We went once, where some folks had spread their kid's stuff over two tables, and acted really snitty when we politely asked them to move their stuff so we could eat. Honestly! The location is mildly hard to find, as it's set off the street, next to a gas station. You can pick up their bread at most local supermarkets. Stop by for some of their other treats, though.

We ate here a lot when we were renovating our home. Great sandwiches, great coffee, great breads. There is a sitting area along the creek which is a pleasant spot to sit. The only reason for not getting 5 stars, is that sometimes the people at the counter aren't overly friendly (not bad, but not happy either).

The service has always been SLOW and today I went in, waited for almost one minute while the woman behind the counter chatted with another employee (after making eye contact with me) then when she never came over or said anything, I just walked out. It's funny because I knew I would likely have to wait for service as I was walking in, but I thought it would be due to customers ahead of me. This morning my timing was good and NO ONE was there, so I was optimistic. No go. Not interested in me as a customer I guess. So, I drove to McDonald's on 2A, got an egg McMuffin from a very cheery counter person who had me out of there in about 30 seconds with a "thank you, have a great day!" Now, that is customer service! On a good note, their sourdough is very good, but I will not be going there to buy it anymore, I am sick of their bad service.

Delicious pastries and thoroughly addictive baguettes. The chocolate chip scone is like a gigantic chocolate chip cookie...for breakfast. Awesome. Tasty daily soups and custom made sandwiches. I especially loved the creamy potato soup with bacon bits, but items like the breakfast burrito, quiches and lasagna seem way overpriced to me. Service is often very slow. Almost every time I go in, the staff are chatting with each other and completely oblivious to the line of customers waiting to order. Also, for reasons that aren't totally clear to me, their parking lot in front is almost always completely full, even when the bakery is empty. I usually end up parking on the street or in the lot off of Winthrop Street and walk over the foot bridge to the bakery.

Nashoba is a big company that cares about every customer, no matter how new or significant. I had a bad Groupon experience (no bread available when I arrived from Cambridge) and they delivered bread to me as a consolation and wrote me a very thoughtful note. I would not expect a business to do this for someone using a coupon! They went above and beyond. This is a very friendly company and Nashoba's bread is excellent quality. So in the end, I couldn't be happier with my experience. You can find their breads in many places and the actual bakery is in a very quaint setting in Concord if you're ever in the area, stop by. You won't be disappointed.

A really good bakery we almost couldn't find. Might be the place that finally makes me get GPS. Had the #9 (Cheddar, Apple, Arugula & Honey Mustard). Comes with Harvest bread, but I opted for sourdough. It was a great sandwich. Is that honey mustard or just drizzled honey? I'm going to have to try that at home. I also had an expensive but delicious pumpkin spice latte. Tasted authentic, not overdone and fakey chemical-lab flavored. I'll be back for the baked goods.. coconut cream cake, tarts, etc. As far as the physical space goes, it's not the largest space, and definitely not great for groups larger than three during the cooler months. It was a crisp October day, so my party of four braved the outside and had the back patio and gorgeous fall view of the trees, brook, and bridge to ourselves.

Nashoba Brook Bakery is the best bakery and cafe I have ever been to, hands down. I've eaten there at least 6 or 7 times, and had soups, sandwiches, pastries, bread, and coffee, and each visit was a "5 star" (out of 5) meal. My personal fav is their scones! Plus the garlic aioli is great on just about any sandwich. The only downside is that it's crowded around peak lunchtime and has very limited seating, but who cares because the food is so ridiculously good!

Good place for a sandwich in the area...just make sure you get the correct order if you have called ahead with an order to go! Nice people working there. Parking and finding a seat can sometimes be tight, but usually ends up working out well. Try the #3 turkey sandwich with the Wasabi mayo!

I had been to west concord many times in the last few months and had no idea that this was here - it took a conversation with a customer to inform me that this building past the end of the retail district is where to find the store. You kind of need to know what you are looking for, it is not readily visible if you are driving or even walking - since it is set back from the main road. I was there late in the day but wanted to stop in to get an idea of what they offer. Obviously there is a lot of bread, and it can be sliced, whole or half loaves, baguettes and dinner sized rolls. They also make sandwiches from 11-2 and have a big case of desserts - cakes, cookies, pies, tea cakes - but only a few are actually made in house --- and not sure where the others are made. There are also salads and other selections in the case. You can also find a variety of locally made jams, and a list of beverages to chose from to take to-go or stay. There is a large selection of seating that range from small bistro tables, 2 person hi-tops along the wall and big couches in the back - a quiet area to catch up on reading, with a friend or a relaxing lunch hour. I figured a good first purchase would be a baguette, and for a few dollars you can get a good baguette. I had a slice when I got home - it has a nice chewy interior with a slighty crunchy shell. I used it for bruschetta the next day and made a great breakfast sandwich sunday morning -- Now I know where to find this place I plan on going back to try some more bread - but I will be there earlier to have a better selection.

Best bakery in the area. It's gets crowded and can be difficult to sit during lunch. The parking can get difficult as well. The cost can be between $10 - $20 per person.

I purchased a groupon for NBB back in May and it was the best groupon purchase I have made, hands down. $5 for $20 worth of artisan breads at this cool bread bakery...which are AMAZING! Amazing to taste and equally to look at. Yesterday, I was in the neighborhood and decided to get lunch, a much needed americano, and a loaf of bread. I was in a hurry so I made very rash decisions, which is highly unlike me. I quickly said, "a small iced americano, the shepherd's pie, and a loaf of 7 grain, sliced, please." It was all inexpensive, very quick, and very, very good. With my shepherd's pie they included grapefruit slices and a very interesting fruit/nut bread in the form of a roll. No complaints! They are friendly and have a beautiful selection of pastries that I hope I can sink my teeth into in the future. The 7 grain bread had a surprise of a few raisins throughout which gives it a special flare. I've also tried the wheat sourdough sliced for sandwiches which was incredible. I wish I lived closer so I could take advantage of this cool, small business more often.

The bread is like a meal in itself. Got a huge, heavy bag of bread from my groupon.. two loaves, two bags of rolls, and a baguette. I ate about half of the 7 grain loaf in less than a day. It was moist and dense from all the grains, with a hint of sourdough and a scattering of date pieces (no they're not raisins). In fact all the breads I got had some sourdough in it. I find that to be a plus, but if you don't, be sure to ask first.

We've been buying their excellent baguettes for a while now from our local grocery, and today we decided finally to check out the bakery where it all happens. The West Concord location of Nashoba Brook is located on Commonwealth behind a car dealership; we had a little trouble finding it the first time around, but it was well worth the trouble. A sign on the door proudly proclaims NBB the winner of Boston Magazine's Best Bread Bakery 2006! As you enter you can see through glass windows the vast ovens where the bread is baked. They've got several different kinds to choose from, and we picked up a sourdough loaf, our usual baguettes, and one of the T/Th specials, a Monterey Jack loaf. You can also get bags of fresh rolls, prepared sandwiches, cookies, brownies... Their pastry display was mouth-watering: cakes, mousse tortes, apple & key lime pie, fruit tarts... A great place to sit for lunch (they've got wi-fi) or pick up your favorite bread!

This place it a little steep to have lunch there every day, but every few weeks I treat myself. I always get soup and half-sandwich plus a loaf of whole wheat sourdough - it runs me $12.47. Since recently, I have to remind them to put a pickle in my sandwich. The service is very leisurely, so do not come hungry. Cafe provides newspapers, but regulars hog them - so do not be afraid to ask a patron for the section he is not reading. Bread reminds of the old country (I am from Eastern Europe). I have a baker's dozen discount card, but unfortunely shoe box rolodex that have been serving as the repository for years without any problems, recently was completely messed up, and no longer is maintained. Still, the sandwiches are tasty, the bread is crusty and soup is dense and flavorful. They also have a community bookshelf. Good place, especially in nice weather, on the wooden picnic tables by the eponymous brook.

I go here often for lunch and have always been satisfied, they have a great selection of order by number sandwiches and I have tried a handful of them and they are all great! The counter staff is friendly and always willing to help, the prices are reasonable and the service is quick and accurate.

I have been coming to NBB for years. It's my favorite place in a 10 mile radius to sit and write, read, or have a coffee meeting with someone. The atmosphere is inviting, cozy and allows you to linger. It's also one of the very few places in the western suburbs where you can sit outside and not be right on the road! I love the hot entrees (strata, burrito, quiche) and the bread especially. I couldn't give 5 stars because the service is not always stellar, and today my $3 iced coffee was so weak it was undrinkable. (Hello... Iced coffee needs to be even stronger than regular coffee because the ice melts and weakens it further!) Also, please have 'sugar water' available for iced drinks!

A great HIDDEN gem. It is truly hidden at the back of some parking lots in West Concord. But it is worth seeking out. They actually have a parking lot on the opposite side of the brook and there is a footbridge leading back to the bakery. You have to enter the parking lot from a side street. The bakery has indoor and outdoor seating, much of it overlooking the Nashoba Brook. The sandwiches are delicious - all on their homemade bread. I had the smoked turkey with avocado and wasabi mayo - heaven. The wasabi is not strong, so you needn't be afraid. The #4 and the #10 sandwiches also got rave reviews from my fellow diners. The desserts look very tempting, but I did not try them. Very fast service.

Nashoba was my favorite bakery, good food, great coffee and clean. I do have to report that in the last year the service, coffee and cleanliness have all headed south. I hope that this will soon correct itself and I'll be rewriting this review

No doubt about it, this place has fantastic bread, soup, and sandwiches. But on a recent Sunday (with friends in town) I was reminded why you're sometimes better off going to Concord Teacakes for a light meal and goodies. We were excited to try the waffle bar. But there is no sign for them (our first clue) and when we placed an order we were presented with soggy, limp squares. The quiche was very strange--overly runny and rich and made with some kind of smoked cheese. And the pastry cream in the eclair was sour. I hate to say it but these folks are resting on their bread laurels. So stick with the soup and sandwiches and avoid the overpriced, mediocre prepared foods.
