Sushi Yanagi Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

One of my favorite Japanese restaurants! Tucked away at the far end of a small shopping plaza. Signs could be improved. Been there many times, for lunch and dinner. I would recommend going there for lunch. For dinner it's a little expensive from what I recall. The spicy seafood salad is a must! ($5, octopus, shrimp, crabmeat, tobiko). Also, the lunch menu has 3 rolls for $12. Can't beat that! (It's even cheaper than Market Basket!). And it's consistently delicious!!! Service is usually very good, friendly. Usually. I love this place. Although they now have fierce competition around! Seoul Kitchen (Westford), Nobo (Chelmsford) and 7Nana Japanese Steakhouse (Billerica) are equally good. I will definitely keep Sushi Yanagi on my rotation list for sushis.

Tasty strip mall sushi for your spontaneous suburban fix! It's pretty easy to miss this place which is a shame. They really ought to improve their sign. The interior is small and cozy, and lunch prices were pretty fair. I wish the rolls were a bit.. fatter? More substantial? But maybe my eyes were bigger than my stomach because I was still sufficiently full by the time we finished. They have a HUGE TV - maybe because we went for lunch during a weekday and it was kind of an off time, but it was a bit too loud which kind of killed the atmosphere.

The restaurant is in a corner of a strip mall and barely noticeable if just driving by. I came here on a recommendation and after seeing the high rating that it had on Yelp, thought we would give it a shot, especially since it is close to our house. The interior was rather small and modest. We were seated immediately. While the food was good, the service was just mediocre. We were served by different servers and I felt like some were better than others. The waitress who took our order seemed a little impatient and rushed us. We ordered chicken yakitori and barbecue squid, and the sushi/sashimi boat for two. It was odd how they served the appetizers five minutes after the sushi boat came out. I was expecting to get the apps first. Not perfect, but whatever, we are not too finicky and can overlook that. The chicken yakitori came with two skewers and smothered in a succulent teriyaki sauce. The grilled bbq squid was tasty. Sushi was fresh and decent. Among the fish included were salmon, tuna, yellowtail, white fish (suzuki), white tuna, and possibly fluke (?)- that's what I thought it was. It came with two rolls - eel and avocado, and another bigger roll that had spicy tuna as the base, but can't remember what else is on it. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, including the green tea tempura ice cream that we had for dessert. Yes, I would still return. They have some great deals that I saw on the lunch specials menu that I have yet to try, as well as the hibachi meals which looked good, and I'm also willing to give it a chance. Though one thing I am perplexed about is the high rating of this place on Yelp. Yes it's good, but not amazing and doesn't warrant a four and half star rating. I would recommend if you are local and looking for a sushi place to satisfy a craving. This would be it.

This place can definitely be off putting from the outside and makes you wonder, how can quality sushi come from a hidden Chelmsford strip mall?? Once you get over that and don't care that this place doesn't have the typical sushi restaurant fancy décor, you can really focus on what matters- quality of food. I have been here a few times now and each time it has always been extremely fresh and flavorful sushi. They do have coupons on their site, which is amazing because sushi prices can really add up fast. They also have a promotion that if you check in on Facebook, you get a free edamame app. The service is usually ehh here though and the wait staff seem to be very disconnected. Luckily, the amazing sushi makes up for this and it is great to have a local place like this to accommodate your sushi needs.

Surprisingly great sushi! No matter what anyone says, when an establishment is located in a strip mall you tend to think, ehhhh I'm not sure if I want to eat sushi there. Well I feel like this place breaks the mold. I will go out on a limb and say that it's by far the best sushi option in a 10 mile radius. However, there are some areas that need improvements: while the sushi quality and creativity is a five star experience, the service has always been a 3 star experience. And although it is a good looking interior a few updates and a little more vacuuming wouldn't hurt to add to the overall experience. I am the type of diner that can look past a dingy carpet but some people may not be as accepting as I am. To sum it up: I want the best sushi that money can buy without going to far, sushi yanagi here I come!

GROSS, kinda. In a corner strip mall and hard to find. If this were the first sushi I ever had, it would be the last. I think the fact that they had a horror movie playing early afternoon with people getting eaten by a giant alligator didn't help the so-so flavored rolls (rice wasn't that good). Small and modest, the food is ok in a pinch, and the waitstaff is aloof and slow. Not my favorite.

Want some proof that you don't have to go into Boston for great sushi? I submit to you: Sushi Yanagi. It's in a most unlikely place, the last store in a small strip mall on a side street behind 2 much larger strip malls on the main drag. I knew, when I entered, that I would be in for a good dinner for several reasons (besides a number of favorable reviews on Yelp already, of course): A steady and diverse clientele, many of whom rushed straight to the sushi bar, a lack of silverware, and a single sushi chef with a quite full tip jar. The atmosphere is quiet, relaxed, and comfortable. The cocktail list is interesting. The sake list is moderate but suited me well. A 300 ml bottle of Nigori Sake (forgot the brand name, slightly sweeter than my favorite, Snow Beauty) at $9.95 split between 2 of us was a fine start. They offer a small number of sushi platters for 2, but we ordered numerous individual rolls, both hot and cold. At many places, you never know in what order the rolls will be made. Here it was obvious the hot rolls were made last (in our case, sweet potato rolls and rolls with tempura items) so that they were piping hot when brought to our table. Presentation was excellent. There was a more than adequate amount of ginger. The wasabi was flavorful without being stupid-hot, a sign it was well prepared and fresh. What was most surprising - and satisfying - was just how quickly our sushi was prepared. Oh, and it was delicious, can't forget to mention that. We did not order dessert this time, but the tempura cheesecake sounds really decadent. Service was friendly and attentive. Our waiter checked on us often, making sure everything was okay. And it was indeed!

This is by far the best sushi restaurant in the area. The NY Roll is amazing. Prices are very reasonable.

  • Julie D.

Excellent lunch options. The bento box I got was very pretty and had quite a few choices. The restaurant (including the restrooms) was very clean and the staff was attentive. The parking lot was kind of twisty and a pain to navigate, but that's hardly their fault. I would definitely go again.

I love sushi, all kinds of sushi, except for tuna.. I told the server i ws allergic and that i could go into anaphalactic shock if i injest tuna. He said he could not guarantee that my sushi would not touch tuna and that i should leave..

Husband and I took our teenage son here last week. They ordered the sushi boat and loved it. I ordered a Godzilla roll and California roll. Would have loved the Godzilla roll more if it wasn't deep fried, but live and learn! :-) Will definitely be coming back.

The sushi here is amazing! It's just a small place, so I just get take out. The prices are fair, and their lunch special is a great deal. I've had take out here many times, and I've never been disappointed. They have even taken an order for me when they are just about to close.

Food is excellent. They customized our order with no problem. The soft shell crab is different then the usual battered, it is breaded but the change is welcoming. Sushi is fresh! Inside is clean, lighting perfectly dim and comfortable. Atmosphere is relaxing. Will be back

Went here after pho88 had a wait off a yelp recommendation and we're glad we did! We had a selection of rolls, edemame, salmon teriyaki, coconut shrimp, fried rice, miso soul, and shrimp dumplings and all were top quality and would be a standout in Boston, let alone in Lowell! Standouts we're the miso soup, salmon teriyaki, and the dumplings, although I would order everything we had again. The service was very friendly as well and prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended and we'll be back next time we're in Lowell!

Recently came back here to treat some family members to dinner. When you're in grad school, and you bank account suddenly becomes Aziz Ansari and says "treat yo self", it's nice to do so! My consensus is still the same in regards to the quality of the food. Decent food, decent price, and decent quantity. I told my family to get whatever they wanted. And they did. I did an eel and avocado roll and spider roll, and my family got a tempura plate, and a combination plate of sushi. We came on a weekend; I was smart and made a reservation for 7PM. If I hadn't, there was no way we would have been seated that night. It was PACKED. Service was extremely slow for our drinks (water and sodas), and we didn't see our food for a long time. The tempura plate came out a long time before the sushi did. There was also confusion with the bill; I had left the table for a few minutes to use the restroom, and it was placed on the table where I couldn't see it. After sitting another chunk of time, I got our server again, who went to go reprint the bill, before reminding me it was already at the table. Was a bit annoying to have to continually flag someone down for something, or to sit and wait while my stomach rumbles like the T trying to pull in to North Station. If you're going on a weekend, get a reservation. During the week though, or during times when there isn't a peak meal rush, you should be good. The quality of the food and the price makes this place worth it.

Great local place to get fresh sushi. We've always enjoyed the food and service. We love the DA roll!

Low in ambiance and service, decent prices, decent sushi. It took forever to get our meals on a weekday lunch, I don't expect to go back soon.

I see that somebody mentioned Tokyo in their review. I have been to Tokyo many times. This place would not survive there. Don't get me wrong, the fish was okay, but the other food we had was mediocre. The rice wasn't very good, the miso soup bland, and the shumai and shrimp tempura were clearly previously frozen by some other company. The long wait for our meal to arrive and abrupt service also disappointed us. I am amazed this place has such a high rating here on Yelp. We were there for lunch. Perhaps cheap drinks and maki make for nice dinners?

    (2)
  • Daniel M.

Went there for the first time tonight. The Shumai is the best I've had over the years! The Naruto Roll was light, fresh and fabulously different! I think I'll go back for lunch tomorrow.....

Had dinner here with friends tonight. I had been to the location once before when it was a Greek restaurant named Evzon. The interior has been completely redone and is now dark and sleek. Booths line the exterior walls and the bar and sushi bar are raised up. We had made a 6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of sushi, sashimi and cooked items. The wait staff was very attentive and took drink orders immediately. We started with the steamed shrimp shumai and the pan fried pork gyoza. Both were delicious. We ordered the spicy tuna sushi, since so many Yelpers recommended it, the salmon sushi, the salmon sashimi and the tuna sashimi. The presentation was gorgeous and the fish looked very fresh. We also ordered two shrimp tempura rolls (with spicy mayo on the side). The spicy mayo had a real kick and the extra flavor of sesame oil, which I have not tasted at other restaurants. The shrimp tempura rolls were amazing. I think the best I have ever had. One member of our groups is a former chef so he has very high standards for restaurants. He said this was his new favorite sushi place. We passed on dessert, but they have fried cheesecake on the menu and I can't wait to try it.

Found this on Yelp... Entered our to go order online. By the time I got to the restaurant they had my order bagged up and ready to go. Had to ask for spicy mayo, but that was a minor inconvenience. We ordered 4 rolls... every one of them was delicious. The best sushi I've had in quite a while. We'll be back.

Having moved to Lowell fairly recently, I was on the lookout for some good food options and headed here for a sushi fix. Our first experience was takeout. We got some loose rolls and a sashimi bento box lunch. The fish was really good, but I was disappointed to find they didn't give sushi rice with the sashimi, but regular white rice. Very boring, yeck. The second time we ate in for an early lunch, and having remembered to ask for sushi rice this time, was much more pleased with my experience! The prices are not bad and the quality was pretty great, but it didn't knock my socks off exactly. Still kind of on the hunt for "the" sushi place, but this will definitely hit the spot until then!

  • Kracky M.

Excellent sushi...Excellent service... This was the first time my husband enjoyed eating sushi and became a fan !!! Spicy girl sushi was outstanding. All appetizers including shrimp tempura, mango shrimp, shumai were outstanding...my personal fav was mango shrimp !!

Very delicious sushi! My boyfriend and I recently visited for the first time and really enjoyed ourselves. The inside of the restaurant was nice, clean, and very friendly and prompt staff. We both ordered the Sushi Party, order of Toro, and appetizer of Seafood Stuffed Eggplant. Everything was exceptional and fresh. Our waitress was also very friendly and helpful. She inquired about this being our first visit, which she then treated us to deep fried Oreos on the house. Definitely will be back and recommend to others.

Some suprisingly great sushi in this area. We ordered the salmon avocado roll, the yummy roll (pink wrapping), the boston roll, and the crazy tuna roll (pretty good), and some nigiri for takeout. Also had the chicknen karaage (fried chicken wings) which I enjoyed a lot.

Our favorite find - a hidden gem. It would be nice if it stays this way ... great food and good prices. wonderful decor, contemporary and inviting!

  • Dee Y.

I LOVE it here. My husband and I have gone several times and it's always great. The sushi is so good, and on top of having some great special rolls, all the staples are awesome too. There's also a full bar with an excellent selection. The shopping center is pretty dated (there's a Jazzercize studio...) but don't let that fool you, this is a great spot with a fun atmosphere and very good sushi!

    (4)
  • Anh T.

Sushi here is okay. The Katsu is really dry. But the hibachi is pretty good. I have high expectation for sushi so I don't really think this place is good for that.

    (3)
  • L Y.

The food is really good here. The service is good most of the time. It can get a bit slow when they are busy. There lunch deals are affordable. I like the variety they have in their menu offerings. I like places that offer at least some vegetarian options and so far they offer a lot. Some of the maki rolls are huge and I think the maki rolls can be rolled tighter as they do fall apart on me most of the time. Then again maybe they are not using better sushi rice. All in all I do frequent this place often. I would say the food is worth it.

    (4)
  • Linda K.

Good food, but extremely slow service. If you are on a time crunch per say "lunch break" forget it you'll never get you food and eat it on time.

  • Luke S.

While this place doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside for that matter), its hands down some of the best sushi i've had in the area. the yellow-tail tuna and jalapeno appetizer is out of this world. its perfection. eat all of it. then order it again. same with the naruto rolls. get all of them. the staff is absolutely wonderful. the only thing i didn't love was the the tempura green tea ice cream. but i don't go to a sushi place for ice cream, so who cares.

Moved to Lowell a few mths ago and wish I found this place sooner. I dont eat rice anymore and was a bit worried about asking them to not include the rice but they modified the rolls for me without any trouble or eyerolling. Is this a normal request? Who knows! The rolls I have tried so far are the James Bond and the Scallop. They were both amazing!! The mushroom and scallion soup ($2) was the perfect bold flavor, I could live off of it. I ordered the thai curry ($3), it was good but not something I would order regularly, however my friend was instantly hooked. Ive gone 3 times this week and the rolls and soup were consistant. The wait was short. The chefs rolls were on the pricier side, $12 for the James bond but that hasnt stopped me from ordering. Typically I wonder why some japanese places charge so much for specialty rolls when they just arent very special. This roll, is special. The spicy crunchy scallop was cheaper around $6 dollars and was the perfect texture and spice. I will definitely frequent this place as they are delicious and are willing to modify. Thank you Sushi Yanagi!!

The Spicy baked scallops with enoki mushrooms were awesome! Also, the Curry thai soup was on point and just what we needed. Good service and good atmosphere although my Grand marnier drink was a bit overpriced

I started to go here when they first opened and continued to do so. Sushi is pretty good and I love their seafood salad dish. Everyone is always friendly and since it has opened, service and quality of food is still good. Can't complain. I enjoyed this place. Even when I order take out, never an issue.

Everything was really delicious. The manager checked in through our meal as well to make sure we were happy and brought me over some extra spicy mayo because he overheard me say I wanted to ask for more. If you're feeling hungry, get the Godzilla roll...so.good.

We found Sushi Yanagi on Yelp and decided to give it a go. The restaurant is in a strip mall, but they did a great job with the space. Very comfortable. My wife ordered the Thai lettuce wraps and I ordered the Thai Yung Dung soup. Both were excellent and spiced nicely. It was then on to Sushi. We ordered a variety of Sashimi and Sushi as well as some rolls. The presentation of the Sashimi was outstanding. One was live scallop served over crushed ice which was lit up. All of the fish was very fresh and flavorful. Service was top notch. They are very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back

After spending the morning driving home from Vermont my boyfriend and I found ourselves looking for some sushi for lunch. It was hard to find any promising options that were both highly rated and reasonably priced, but Sushi Yanagi fit the ticket! Although the location, a small strip mall, was a little off putting at first glance, the restaurant itself was modern and very clean. Our waiter was attentive and our food came out extremely fast. I ordered the maki special which included a shrimp tempura roll, an eel and avocado, and a spicy tuna. The sushi was made quickly and was good, my only complaint was that they were heavily covered in a sweet sauce, a little too overpowering, especially on the eel roll. It came with soup and salad. My boyfriend got the chicken udon entree which also came with miso soup. We shared a seaweed salad. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much seaweed salad came in the $4.00 order. Over all, clean, polite service, fast, and good sushi. It wasn't the best sushi I've had, but certainly a welcomed experience after a long drive.

  • Meg D.

We are regulars at this place - like, they know us by name kind of regulars. The food is soooo good and beats all other sushi places in the area and is reasonably priced. Our favorites are: Godzilla Roll, James Bond Roll, hibachi fried rice (get a side you won't be disappointed); spicy tuna, and just about anything really. I haven't had anything I didn't like here.

  • Bethany S.

My new favorite sushi place! I like the fact that they have a large menu with both cooked and uncooked sushi. The NY Special is my favorite though I've loved every roll that I've ever tried there. I've had the dumplings too and they were great. Edamame is good quality. Service is decent and the wine list is good. The place is a little small so if you're going with a big group then it's not really the best choice. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food in a strip mall.

  • Patrick S.

Very impressed with this restaurant. Arrived and was greeted and seated immediately. Service was wonderful and prompt, and the sushi was some of the best I've ever had. I had Salmon and for Maki the crazy tuna was incredible. A must-do again place.

  • Darren M.

Great sushi place. Awesome prices. Definitely will go again. Get there early as it fills quickly. Has a bar which is an odd fit. Needs a few more wait staff and they bring out everything at once so order starters separately. Definitely could go here weekly.

Hair in everything. Me and my mom went there while I was on a rowing trip. I got sushi while she got the hibachi vegetables. She ended up with a ball of hair in her mouth while I spotted a small strand of hair in my sushi. Luckily I didn't end up finding it in my mouth but it's a shame that good tasting food was ruined by their lack of ability to prevent such a problem. I'll never go again. If you go look around your food before you eat it.

This is officially my go to place for sushi. I've built up enough courage to try a new roll recently. The James Bond roll under (Chef's Special Roll) is delicious. Shrimp tempura with avocado and a slice of tuna on top. I think I died and came back after eating this. Accompanied by my favorite roll (Spicy Tuna) this place knows their sushi. I'm even considering trying sashimi soon! Everything is always made fresh and to perfection. I see a lot of people go for the drinks but my recommendation is to gather a group of people you know like sushi and get a boatload of it! Great prices for great food. Well done Sushi Yanagi!

Best place to go for lunch, always recommended to friends and family to check out this place. Two stars because, awful service... The girl who took our order and served us was very rude. One also dropped my card when we were checking out! Very disappointed.

Yummy yummy! I went there for the first time last month to celebrate my sister's birthday but she didn't show up. *ahem* anyways. Their sushi was delicious! But nothing beat their chicken wings. So freaking crispy and the sweet and chili sauce was ahhhh mayyyyy zinggggg! Scorpion bowl was decent. Good price, cost like $12-13 and their red hawaiian? I forgot what it was call was not too bad, it was stronger than the scorpion bowl and cost a bit more...either $15-16? I would definitely go back for more yummy foods! Oh and my first time having fried ice cream! Never knew how good it was, just the thought of fried ice cream gross me out at first. Lol. Okay...I guess that's all I have to say about this place. Haha. Damn, I'm hungry. ;(

Nice to have a place like this in town. We love the creatively designed rolls, noodle dishes, and Japanese curry. Everything tastes fresh and is very reasonably priced. It's small, so if you eat there on a busy Saturday night, the wait can be a little long, but well worth it.

I came here after work one night recently with a friend. I love sushi and was psyched there was something so close to my home. We decided to sit at the bar, which had ample seating and was promptly served by the gracious host. (They have a nice drink menu) I appreciated the bar seat as we were able to watch their chef prepare not only our dishes, but most of the other sushi dishes. For appetizers we shared an order of Gyoza and Vegetable Tempura. Both were cooked perfectly with a savory dipping sauce. Then we shared a Diamond Roll and a Crazy Tuna Roll. The presentation was beautiful and the portions were good sized. Usually I order more at sushi restaurants because the portions simply aren't that big, but here my appetite was sated. My friend did order some Chicken Curry, which of course I sampled and it was awesome. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone! The atmosphere was very relaxing with soft music playing overhead. It would be perfect for a date or just relaxing after work with friends.

I met with the bartender there, Kevin. He's SUCH a delight; the epitome of what one looks for in a bartender. It's like he's cookie-cutter with no artificial preservatives; the perfect balance between "Can I sample every wine you have" to "Pour me a shot of whatever you want to create". I first went there on Monday with a couple of girlfriends to check it out. We ordered some sashimi and the Go Saints roll. We got hooked up with the Salmon Yanagi-- evidently bc we're cute. The yellowtail with jalepenos was amazing. The sauce was well balanced, both tart and a tad sweet-- perfect for seasoned sashimi. I happen to be a football gamboholic and don't prefer anything outside of a Patriots Roll or a Broken Forearm Gronk roll, but the Go Saints roll's description was rather enticing: shrimp tempura w/spicy tuna and avocado and a "special sauce" on top. Guess what? "Special Sauce" isn't gooey mayo as every other place I know. It was light, yet filling-- delish. I liked the place so much that I went there again the very next day with the same girls (bc they enjoyed it just as much). The Sunomono was so bomb that we ordered it 3 times, each time thinking it was our last time. Diamond roll, just as good. We asked our drunken guy friend to join. Guess what? They hooked us up with the Salmon Yanagi. Guess what more? It's not bc we're cute. I'll be there tomorrow. Why? The food is great. The service is great. The price is right. I've always said that someone should open up a sushi place on this side of town. I've also always said that someone should open up a spot that appreciates their customers, recognizes the demands, and supplies it. Watch out, world: We have Sushi Yanagi.

I love this restaurant! Freshest sushi this side of Tokyo! Great apple Martinis, which BTW go great with sushi! Friendly staff and very professional. I'm editor of my condo complex's newsletter and I gave this a glowing review! I highly recommend.

My new favorite place for sushi. The sushi service is great. They can roll very quickly. The menu selection is ample. The quality excellent especially the nice tight maki rolls. The diamond roll was a unique combination. Really enjoyed the tuna yanaki appetizer. The decor is simple but nicely done for a small space and it's very clean even the bathrooms. Prices are very reasonable! Attentive, courteous wait staff. A must try for sushi lovers looking for a deal. *Tip: They have coupons on their website!

Awesome place, with excellent food! Kinda' hate to tell others about it, as I don't want to wind up dealing with crowds, but their friendly service and food is consistently rock solid. :)

Food: We came as a group of four and ate a family style dinner that was actually pretty filling. -Unagi Roll- A standard tasting roll with a nice grilled eel texture. The sauce was sweet, and wasn't drenched like other places. -Shrimp Tempura Roll- A nice crunchy texture that mixes well with the softness of the other ingredients. Nothing too out of the ordinary here. -Teriyaki Chicken- A grilled piece of chicken breast sliced up and covered in sweet teriyaki sauce. Chicken was sweet, but what really got me was the corn that came with it. It's not the regular sugar corn, but some other kind that's more chewy. The corn had a smokey flavor (as if it was grilled), with a hint of condensed milk. Corn was better than the Chicken. -New York Roll- Nothing too fancy about this roll here unless you're into sashimi. The portion was very generous, and the presentation was pleasing (for such a big roll). -Chicken Curry - The favorite dish on the table. The curry isn't very spicy at first bite, but after a few spoonfuls you'll start to feel the heat. The potatoes and carrots were well simmered and had the right softness and the chicken was very tender. Spicy because of the curry, sweet because of the carrots, and filling because of the potatoes. The only thing I didn't like was the really tiny portion of rice that comes with it...super tiny. Like... 5:1 curry to rice ratio. -Fried Ice Cream - Very nice presentation. The best part was the shell, it was soft and crunchy with a drizzle of chocolate syrup. -Drink Menu- A large selection with a very competitive price. By regular bar-hopping standards, I'd even say it was cheap. Atmosphere: When you first pull into a parking spot, you'll get a feeling that it's another tacky, generic, fast-foodish asian restaurant. Even the sign looks pretty generic. However, when you step inside, you'll see a very nicely decorated L-shaped restaurant that seats probably 40 people at best. The lighting is very nice with less intrusive colored lights along the trimming on the walls. The bar area is combined with the sushi-making station, and has TVs overhead. It's a very welcoming atmosphere with lots to look at. Staff: Pretty generic staff. I like the fact that they were eager to refill our waters, but for some this might be too often and too intrusive because they do ask before they refill it. I was a little curious about the seating arrangement though. There were other guests in the restaurant, but they seemed to put us all in one corner in the front. I like the social atmosphere, but for some people they just want a little more privacy. Final Thoughts: A great establishment in a not so great location. However, they make up for it in quality and atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place for a date, or a quick bite to eat as it is practically off of Rt 3.

The sushi was very delicious and not too expensive. The Ting Ting roll was the best. However, the drinks we ordered tasted like medicine...not the best bartender. Overall, my family and I enjoyed ourselves and had a great dinner.

Good appetizers, good rolls, sushi was ok, sashimi quality depended on the fish as some cuts were much better than others. Overall a good experience, we'll be back.

I've been here a couple of times now and they are one of the better sushi places in the area. It still doesn't rival anything I've had on the west coast, but in Massachusetts, this place is pretty good.

Originally from Merrimack valley but have lived in NYC for years (so have had my fair share of great sushi places). Whenever I go home to visit my parents I am always in search of great Asian takeout, particularly sushi. Finally I have found it!!! Got Yanagi for takeout tonight and it was delicious! All the sushi pieces were very fresh and the rolls were imaginative. I am always a fan of yellowtail jalapeño and this was a great one, thinly sliced and great quality. I noticed what others have written about the staff just from takeout - very attentive and friendly. Great find. Best sushi in the Merrimack valley and I have tried every one!

The sushi was great the Godzilla roll was amazing! Only complaint was the "pearl harbor" drink listed on their cocktail menu... Might possibly be wise to change the name to not upset customers who may find that not funny!

Sushi Yanagi is bar none, the BEST Japanese and sushi i have had in the Middlesex Valley area!!! FINALLY, a Japanese Resturant that doesn't offer Chinese, Thai, Korean and stays true to its authenticity I had a the bento box special and for 10$ &had the most amazing shrimp tempura; the batter was perfectly light and crunchy and not greasy at all. I chose the yummy shumai and had the spicy tuna roll and both were YUM, the spicy tuna was very fresh and to die for! I also had the Miso soup (yum) and the house salad (the dressing was so good I could have licked the bowl clean!) My son had the two roll maki special and had California roll and shrimp tempura roll and said it was the best sushi he too has had in this area. His special was only 9$ and also came with the soup and salad. I hope and pray that they stay consistent and if so i will absolutely become regular customer

This is my favorite sushi place in the greater Chelmsford/Lowell area, as a bonus it is really convenient to get to from work and home. The restaurant replaces a rather average Greek restaurant which I had successfully avoided for 15 years after trying once or twice. The interior is completely remodeled and looks nice and modern and clean. The seating is comfortable with mostly booths and couple of larger tables, plus there is plenty of room at the bar. They have some well priced lunch specials, sushi, sashimi and bento box. Comes with a soup and salad and you leave pleasantly full. The rolls are my favorite though, great flavor and texture combinations that make me want to try them all. The special rolls are well sized, so usually one of these combined with the super tasty curry soup is satisfying until you are really starving. All the fish tastes super fresh. I feel they do a nice job of presentation on everything from the bento box to the large party platters, and usually they are pretty prompt in getting your food. The sushi chefs and wait staff are all very friendly, on opening day they made a mistake with a drink order but rectified it immediately, was just a simple misunderstanding. I'll be back for lunch often!

Put simply some of the best sushi I've ever had 10 out 10. The only problem I had was the online ordering is a little cludgy, but still uber convenient. Their O Toro was some of the freshest I've ever had. The Chelmsford Roll is amazing! If you're looking for good Sushi hit up Sushi Yanagi!

Got sat right away, drinks took 15 min. Ordered food. Waiter Asked for our order a second time bc he hadn't put the order in after 45 min. After an hour we finally got our entrees. Totally forgot our appetizers, mind u my husbands entree came with soup and salad. Never came. Spoke w manager gave us 20% off. Who cares. I didn't want a cheaper bill I wanted service from that point on. Didn't happen. Big disappointment. Had high hopes for this place. Understaffed and poorly managed. Sushi was good but my husbands hibachi meal was cold. Not a great selection of sushi rolls. Def needs better management and better menu. Left hungry.

This is a very new Japanese restaurant. I was attracted by so many flattering reviews. There are multiple sushi places in town and none has received so much attention. I ordered sushi, sashimi and other dishes. The food is okay but not great. The cut is small comparing with other local sushi restaurants and price. Did not understand why this restaurant received such high ratings in yelp.

I've been here twice for lunch and dinner.... The quality is great and price is very reasonable Got a maki combo- spicy tuna, eel roll, shrimp tempura roll w/ soup & salad for $!15! doesnt get better than that. I had the sake the only con is that i wish they did martinis.

I just love this place! Sushi is very good and the Sashimi is fresh. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And they smile! I love the Bento box as I think it's the best deal. Alas, it's only available for lunch, not dinner. The location is somewhat problematic. It's in a strip mall - at the very end. Driving into the strip mall you can't tell if it's open or not until you drive right up to it. Excellent bar with HD TV. Also the atmosphere is very tasteful. And CLEAN. I would recommend this place to everyone who likes Japanese food. Not quite as good as Ichiban Sushi in Tao Payoh but that's on the other side of the Pacific.

It's a hidden gem in the drum hill plaza, not that big but very pleasant atmosphere. Wonderful food and great service. Small portion plates but the quality is great. Love it!

Come here all the time. Today the server argued with me about something silly. Then we watched a patron sit at the bar , hand her sixty dollars for jewelry and then the server gave him three budweisers . Her name is Jume. Mass state law prohibits giving a single person more than two drinks at one time. Then my oysters came with no cocktail sauce, when last week we were handed a small bottle of cocktail sauce. She told me to wait ten minutes while they walk to hannafords. this place has always been great what happened! The oysters were not served on ice either.

What happened? Toro changed from MP to 7$ and the quality shows. Little brother ordered curry... The texture was like curdled milk -- probably overcooked potatoes. Taste was the same as the Golden House (mild) curry box from the supermarket. Waitress was somewhat passive aggressive. New owner or something? New chefs? This used to be my go-to Japanese restaurant in greater Boston.

I was pleasantly suprised by this place tonight!! Some of the best sushi and pad thai that me and my fiancé have ever had! Sushi Yanagi, don't change a thing! The food and service are top notch.

Soooo good. Best sushi in town. I get the crazy tuna roll; my husband gets the James Bond roll. They'll give you free edamame just for checking in on Facebook. The mixed drinks are big and the domestic beers cheap. We just got 3 rolls, edamame and two piña coladas for $34. If we'd had beers in lieu of mixed drinks, our check would have been under $30. If we'd had waters, I would have been around $20. Amazing value. We come here at least once a week and sometimes more.

Sushi & sashimi are always the freshest. The sushi rolls are phenomenal and the cooked food (bento boxes, Yaki Soba, etc) have all been excellent. The miso soup is not over salted like other places. This place is a quiet gem.

Typically, we get a few appetizers to go with our drinks. We are huge fans of gyoza, pan fried pork dumplings, so we get one to split. The beef negimaki was a gamble as I've never had it before nor did I know what it was. To my surprise, the broiled beef roll with teriyaki sauce and scallion was tasty! I love their barbecue squid with yakitori sauce. It's grilled to perfection and didn't taste rubbery at all. We ordered a combination of sashimi, handrolls and maki rolls along with delicious tempura udon noodle soup (not pictured). For the maki rolls, we got my absolute favorite; the Spider Roll (Tempura and fried soft shell crab), Philadelphia roll (salmon and cream cheese), Caterpillar to name a few. Overall, it's a great place for date night or even just a night out with friends. Service was great and the food was fresh and delicious. Sushi Yangai is located in a small strip mall/plaza on 83 Parkhurst Road in Chelmsford, Ma. Although I've never been there for lunch, I hear they have a good lunch special with a few $4.00 maki roll or combo specials. For menu item pictures, visit mami-eggroll.com/2014/02…

This is my favorite sushi place for lunch. Sushi is fresh and high quality over here. Service is friendly and tentative. Also price is great. I usually get salmon avocado, shrimp tempura and eel and avocado. I am never disappointed.

Sushi Yanagi isn't the closest Sushi place to my house but the reviews were great so I took the ride and placed a takeout order. This is the first time eating from this place but since my favorite food is Sushi, I really wanted to find a great new place. I placed my order and was told that 15-20 minutes later my order would be ready. I arrived 25 minutes later to pick up my order, it wasn't ready yet. I paid and waited another 10-15 minutes for my takeout order. I arrived home and I am happy to say the sushi was great, I have had better when I lived in CA but this might actually be one of the best places around along with Bamboo. It this place does get even more popular, they are probably going to have to move because there is no parking.

This was a wonderful little japanese restaurant. The flavors are all there in the food. We were quite hungry and ordered the bento box (mine with beef curry and my boyfriend's with salmon), spicy tuna, (mine with gyoza, his with shumai), and we pretty much shared with each other bits of each. All the components of the bento box were delicious. The salad dressing was also great, even though at first glance the color looked a bit suspicious (it's redish instead of the regular yellow color). We also ordered the aged tofu, which was delicious. Now since we are big foodies, we also got the assorted tempura, and the batter itself was great because it wasn't so crumbly. Overall, we had an awesome time, the food was pleasant and the service was wonderful!
