    You don't need me to tell you about Subway. You already know everything you need to know about Subway. This particular establishment shares seating with a few other restaurants in The Garage, including Felipe's and Chutney's. That's pretty much all there is to know. Oh, and (not that this will affect more than 1% of you) for some reason they run out of chocolate chip cookies partway through the day and there are never any left in the evening. I mean, sure, nobody eats Subway for dinner anyway, but would it really hurt to bake fewer cookies of other types (of which there are inevitably many left over at the end of the day) and a few more chocolate chips?? /end rant

    We all know what Subway is supposed to serve and how it's supposed to taste. This location SUCKS! The employees were sitting on the floor in the back room when we walked up, I should have walked away right then. The bread was dry and crumbly, the employees barely spoke to us and mumbled any questions they had and the place was just dirty, trash and dirty floors, would not go back. Ever.

    I am almost ashamed to admit it but Subway is my newest obsession. Sure its fast food but it is actual food and truly fast. I hate that they try to sell chips and soda with every sale. I would give them 5 stars if they didn't ask every time. "No, I have been here 5 times in two weeks have I ever wanted a chips or soda?" Poor guy has to ask though. Italian BMT is so rockin'. How sick am I?

    Overcharged. Originally I my review would have been 2 stars since there was (1) no greeting (2) slow service since out of 2 workers, one guy was taking a break while there was a line forming, and (3) apparently don't understand what "a little" mustard and mayo is. Fine, whatever. I get my crummy sandwich (eventually). Why the 1 star? I just noticed that they overcharged me. I order the same thing every time, so I know exactly how much it *should cost. I never ask for a receipt, but I just noticed on my bank account that they overcharged me by (a few) bucks. It's not enough to get my lazy bum over there to complain, but it's enough for a Yelp review. A word to the wise: always ask for a receipt.

    I have literally been cursed at by the employees of this Subway. Why? On an evening last fall, I asked them, very politely, if a coupon I happened to have with me was valid at their location. When I was told it could not be used, I apologized and proceeded to order a sandwich that was actually, physically thrown at me, along with my change and receipt, at checkout. I swear the employees were intoxicated; I cannot understand why anyone would act in that way otherwise. It was unbelievable at the time, and I haven't been back since. Seriously-- if you need a quick, cheap sandwich, go to Al's. It's right across the street, and they actually employ sane, likable people who deserve your business.

    They don't get it. Food, and how it's done. I tried to have a breakfast sandwich here one morning. It was cold and they asked me what I wanted on it after already adding the meat and the eggs. I said "Western Omelet" whatever was in the recipe they had a big picture of. They didn't know what that was. Later, I went to try one of the Bravocado promotions. They put the avocado on the BEFORE toasting the sandwich (gross), and then asked me what I wanted on it. Even though I gave them the name of the specific sandwich being advertised, and said just like that. They didn't know. They don't know.

    Same ol subway food with a bland, no nonsense staff here. Not that they're rude, but no smiles while they are making your sandwich here. Other than that, decent, clean and fairly fast at this location.

    I just ordered a footlong veggie delight and wanted oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. I was only asked if I wanted dressing to which I answered "oil and vinegar". The sandwich was rolled up before I was able to ask. When I asked if it was possible to uwrap my sandwich and have them add the salt and pepper the sandwich guy said, "No." That's it, no, "I'm sorry" or "Sure, we can accommodate that." Nothing. I mean, really? You can't unwrap my sandwich and put salt and pepper on it? That's ridiculous. Second, I paid for my sandwich and drink and then the cashier just walked away without giving me my drink cup. Totally ridiculous.

    To you skeptics, wondering why you would ever lay down $5 (and change) at a Subway in Harvard Square when you're in the midst of other great eateries that exude far more pomp and circumstance than this tiny food-court gem: 1. Start with a 9-grain Honey Wheat foot long 2. Grilled chicken breast, with provolone. Toasted? Why yes, thank you 3. Every vegetable. Give it all to me. Yep, jalepenos too, I know what I'm doing. 4. Sweet onion sauce. This is a make or break. No chips or soda, thank you. Only on special occasions, not made of money here. Fast service, consistent awesomeness (gotta love standardized quality), filling, not full of lard, and the people are friendly if you start the relationship on the right foot. Only snag: 2 napkins are better than one if I'm getting a sandwich bigger than my head. And if you consider yourself eco-friendly, you would know to bring your own water in a sustainable aluminum bottle. Get with the times.

    Normally I wouldn't make an effort to review a place like Subway, but this place was freaking annoying. It's in a nice location with lots of seating which is cool, but the guy behind the counter: ARGH. "What kinda sandwich?" "6 inch on Italian" "Okay what kind of bread?" "ITALIAN." "What size?" "6 inch..." "Do you have pepper jack cheese?" "No." "Okay can I have swiss?" *guy starts to put that shredded cheddar cheese on there* "Is this okay?" "What about the swiss?" "Oh." Then he puts it in the toaster without asking and acts like I'm super unreasonable for saying "hey, not toasted." Am I unreasonable? Probably. But not about sandwiches.

    Five. Five dollar. Five dollar foot loooooongs! You all know the jingle by now, right? What they probably don't tell you is that not ALL the foot-longs are five dollars. Only a few of them are (the basic cold cut ones), and the rest are specialty subs and cost a few bucks more. No biggie though. I like this Subway. Even though they are almost always packed, and they are super tiny, they are as efficient as a Chinese factory pumping out designer handbags. The assembly line here doesn't slow down regardless of what time of day it is. When you approach the counter, be ready to order -- what kind of sub do you want (check the menu)? What size (six inch? foot long?)? What kind of cheese? Do you want it toasted? What kind of veggies? What kind of dressing? Do you want to make it a meal and add a soda and chips/cookies/apples? Pay and then boom -- you're good to go. I had to dock them a star, because for the longest time, their soda machine was broken, so you had to get the cup from them, then walk across the way to Chutney's and fill up your soda from there. Um... AWKWARD. But, the soda machine is now fixed. No worries people, it only took two months. A little chink in the efficiency, but eh, we'll let that slide (pun intended - I'm allowed to joke though. I'm Chinese.).

    The worst--and I mean this--the WORST experience I have ever had with any food establishment. Ordered a Chicken and Bacon Ranch sandwich to go. They omitted the cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and peppers. In other words, I received a sandwich that consisted of chopped chicken, two strips of bacon...and that's it. Nothing else. Never again.

    As much as I don't love this place, I end up frequenting it fairly often (once a week, sometimes more). I work nearby, and it really is (usually) one of the fastest and cheapest places to get a filling sandwich. These people see me all the time. They're never extremely friendly and a few of them mumble and I can barely hear what they're saying when they ask about condiments or how much I owe them at the register. I mean, I can't imagine being super eager to make sandwiches all day, but I do really value customer service and making the customer at least THINK you wouldn't rather be somewhere else. Food quality is similar to any other Subway I've been to. Mediocre, bread sometimes a little stale. Eh. It is convenient, and unless the line is really long I can get in and out pretty quickly.

    Been there five times already in the past two weeks and can admit that this subway has some of the best and fastest service I've seen! They usually have three people at the counter so they get your sandwich up and ready in about 1 minute which is terrific, especially when you only have a 30 minute lunch break. The only thing keeping it from five stars is the fact that they didn't microwave my chicken breast before putting it in the sub and toasting it which is something that I hadn't seen before. But they did when I asked for it the next time around. Subway, I love you!

    Sometimes, I just want a Subway. Why? It's just a sandwich, the architecture of one is not all that difficult to mimic. A monkey could make one. Yet there is something distinctly Subway-y about a Subway sandwich that pleases me so.

    I spent $8 at subway for a meal that took me nearly 2 hours to finish (phewww....exhausting!I) $5 for a footlong????really..... I say $8 well spent this week! Convenient location and healthy food, why not?

    Any restaurant with a unique smell should be avoided at all cost. When it comes to veggie-sandwiches, Subway gets and F for effort, a D for quality, and a C for value.

    I don't really know why subway gets such great reviews. It's good when ya dont have a lot of time to get something, but their prices aren't anything spectacular and the food is even worse. I should have gone up to Crazy Dough and gotten some slices. Would have cost just as much and I probably would have left a whole lot more satisfied. I saw a Zagat rated #1 sticker on the counter....... I'm guessing their standards are slipping.

    A year later, I gave this location another chance. This time, they provided water upon request. Food is consistent with Subway standards. Location is convenient. Now meets expectations.
